RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Identifying the impact of environmental mixtures on human health is an important topic. However, such studies face challenges when exposure measurements lie below limit of detection (LOD). While various approaches for accommodating a single exposure subject to LOD have been used, their impact on mixture analysis has not been thoroughly investigated. Our study aims to understand the impact of five popular LOD accommodation approaches on mixture analysis results with multiple exposures subject to LOD, including omitting subjects with any exposures below LOD (complete case analysis); single imputations by LOD/ 2 , and by estimates from a censored accelerated failure time (AFT) model; and multiple imputation (MI) with or without truncation based on LOD. METHODS: In extensive simulation studies with high-dimensional and highly correlated exposures and a continuous health outcome, we examined the performance of each LOD approach on three mixture analysis methods: elastic net regression, weighted quantile sum regression (WQS) and Bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR). We further analyzed data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) on how persistent organic pollutants (POPs) influenced leukocyte telomere length (LTL). RESULTS: Complete case analysis was inefficient and could result in severe bias for some mixture methods. Imputation by LOD/ 2 showed unstable performance across mixture methods. Conventional MI was associated with consistent mild biases, which can be reduced by using a truncated distribution for imputation. Estimating censored values by AFT models had a minimal impact on the results. In the NHANES analysis, imputation by LOD/ 2 , truncated MI and censored AFT models performed similarly, with a positive overall effect of POPs on LTL while PCB126, PCB169 and furan 2,3,4,7,8-pncdf being the most important exposures. CONCLUSIONS: Our study favored using truncated MI and censored AFT models to accommodate values below LOD for the stability of downstream mixture analysis.

RESUMEN

Marine microorganisms are primary drivers of the elemental cycling. The interaction between heterotrophic prokaryotes and biomarker (n-alkane) in Kuroshio Extension (KE) remains unclear. Here, we categorize KE into three characteristic areas based on ocean temperatures and nutrient conditions: Cold Water Area (CWA), Mixed Area (MA), and Warm Water Area (WWA). A total of 49 samples were collected during two-year voyage to identify the source of n-alkane and associated degrading microorganisms. Total n-alkane concentrations (Σn-Alk) in surface water (SW) spanned from 1,308 ng L-1 to 1,890 ng L-1, it was significantly higher (Tukey-Kramer test, p < 0.05) in MA than CWA and WWA. The Σn-Alk in surface sediments (SS) gradually increased from north to south, ranging from 5,982 ng g-1 to 37,857 ng g-1. Bacteria and algae were the primary sources of n-alkane in both SW and SS. Proteobacteria was the most widely distributed among three areas. The presence of Rhodobacteraceae with alkB was the primary reason affecting n-alkane concentrations in SW. The Gammaproteobacteria with alkB and alkR chiefly affected n-alkane concentrations in SS. In summary, n-alkane s serve as an energy source for particular microorganisms, shaping the unique oceanographic patterns.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: Heterotopic pancreas, an uncommon condition in children, can present with diagnostic and treatment challenges. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical features and treatment options for this disorder in pediatric patients. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective analysis, including patients diagnosed with heterotopic pancreas at four tertiary hospitals between January 2000 and June 2022. Patients were categorized into symptomatic and asymptomatic groups based on clinical presentation. Clinical parameters, including age at surgery, lesion size and site, surgical or endoscopic approach, pathological findings, and outcome, were statistically analyzed. RESULTS: The study included 88 patients with heterotopic pancreas. Among them, 22 were symptomatic, and 41 were aged one year or younger. The heterotopic pancreas was commonly located in Meckel's diverticulum (46.59%), jejunum (20.45%), umbilicus (10.23%),ileum (7.95%), and stomach (6.82%). Sixty-six patients had concomitant diseases. Thirty-three patients had heterotopic pancreas located in the Meckel's diverticulum, with 80.49% of cases accompanied by gastric mucosa heterotopia (GMH). Patients without accompanying GMH had a higher prevalence of heterotopic pancreas-related symptoms (75%). Treatment modalities included removal of the lesions by open surgery, laparoscopic or laparoscopic assisted surgery, or endoscopic surgery based on patient's age, the lesion site and size, and coexisting diseases. CONCLUSIONS: Only one-fourth of the patients with heterotopic pancreas presented with symptoms. Those located in the Meckel's diverticulum have commonly accompanying GMH. Open surgical, laparoscopic surgical or endoscopic resection of the heterotopic pancreas is recommended due to potential complications. Future prospective multicenter studies are warranted to establish rational treatment options.

RESUMEN

Phosphorylation, the most extensive and pleiotropic form of protein post-translation modification, is central to cellular signal transduction. Throughout the extensive co-evolution of plant hosts and viruses, modifications to phosphorylation have served multiple purposes. Such modifications highlight the evolutionary trajectories of viruses and their hosts, with pivotal roles in regulation and refinement of host-virus interactions. In plant hosts, protein phosphorylation orchestrates immune responses, enhancing the activities of defense-related proteins such as kinases and transcription factors, thereby strengthening pathogen resistance in plants. Moreover, phosphorylation influences the interactions between host and viral proteins, altering viral spread and replication within host plants. In the context of plant viruses, protein phosphorylation controls key aspects of the infection cycle, including viral protein functionality and the interplay between viruses and host plant cells, leading to effects on viral accumulation and dissemination within plant tissues. Explorations of the nuances of protein phosphorylation in plant hosts and their interactions with viruses are particularly important. This review provides a systematic summary of the biological roles of the proteins of plant viruses carrying diverse genomes in regulating infection and host responses through changes in the phosphorylation status.

RESUMEN

Red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) have been recognized as natural reservoirs for multiple pathogens and a source of infection for domestic animals, wildlife and humans. To date, no reports are available on the Bartonella rochalimae and Hepatozoon canis infection in red foxes from China. In 2018-2022, a total of 16 red foxes were sampled in two counties and a city in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) in northwest China. Subsequently analyzed by DNA extraction amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). In the present study, based on nucleotide sequence and phylogenetic tree analyses, B. rochalimae and H. canis were molecularly identified in red foxes. Our findings provide the first molecular evidence of B. rochalimae and H. canis in red foxes from China.

RESUMEN

Current treatments targeting individual protein quality control have limited efficacy in alleviating proteinopathies, highlighting the prerequisite for a common upstream druggable target capable of global proteostasis modulation. Building on our prior research establishing nuclear speckles as pivotal organelles responsible for global proteostasis transcriptional control, we aim to alleviate proteinopathies through nuclear speckle rejuvenation. We identified pyrvinium pamoate as a small-molecule nuclear speckle rejuvenator that enhances protein quality control while suppressing YAP1 signaling via decreasing the surface tension of nuclear speckle condensates through interaction with the intrinsically disordered region of nuclear speckle scaffold protein SON. In pre-clinical models, pyrvinium pamoate reduced tauopathy and alleviated retina degeneration by promoting autophagy and ubiquitin-proteasome system. Aberrant nuclear speckle morphology, reduced protein quality control and increased YAP1 activity were also observed in human tauopathies. Our study uncovers novel therapeutic targets for tackling protein misfolding disorders within an expanded proteostasis framework encompassing nuclear speckles and YAP1.

RESUMEN

In this paper, a framework is outlined to generate realistic artificial data (RAD) as a tool for comparing different models developed for safety analysis. The primary focus of transportation safety analysis is on identifying and quantifying the influence of factors contributing to traffic crash occurrence and its consequences. The current framework of comparing model structures using only observed data has limitations. With observed data, it is not possible to know how well the models mimic the true relationship between the dependent and independent variables. Further, real datasets do not allow researchers to evaluate the model performance for different levels of complexity of the dataset. RAD offers an innovative framework to address these limitations. Hence, we propose a RAD generation framework embedded with heterogeneous causal structures that generates crash data by considering crash occurrence as a trip level event impacted by trip level factors, demographics, roadway and vehicle attributes. Within our RAD generator we employ three specific modules: (a) disaggregate trip information generation, (b) crash data generation and (c) crash data aggregation. For disaggregate trip information generation, we employ a daily activity-travel realization for an urban region generated from an established activity-based model for the Chicago region. We use this data of more than 2 million daily trips to generate a subset of trips with crash data. For trips with crashes crash location, crash type, driver/vehicle characteristics, and crash severity. The daily RAD generation process is repeated for generating crash records at yearly or multi-year resolution. The crash databases generated can be employed to compare frequency models, severity models, crash type and various other dimensions by facility type - possibly establishing a universal benchmarking system for alternative model frameworks in safety literature.

RESUMEN

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) refers to an endocrine disorder syndrome that are correlated with multiple organs and systems. PCOS has an effect on women at all stages of their lives, and it has an incidence nearly ranging from 6% to 20% worldwide. Mitochondrial dysfunctions (e.g., oxidative stress, dynamic imbalance, and abnormal quality control system) have been identified in patients and animal models of PCOS, and the above processes may play a certain role in the development of PCOS and its associated complications. However, their specific pathogenic roles should be investigated in depth. In this review, recent studies on the mechanisms of action of mitochondrial dysfunction in PCOS and its associated clinical manifestations are summarized from the perspective of tissues and organs, and some studies on the treatment of the disease by improving mitochondrial function are reviewed to highlight key role of mitochondrial dysfunction in this syndrome.

RESUMEN

Ultra performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-TOF-MS) was employed to investigate the impacts of Pruni Semen processed with different methods(raw and fried) on the liver and spleen metabolism in mice. A total of 24 male mice were randomly assigned to three groups: raw Pruni Semen group, fried Pruni Semen group, and control(deionized water) group. Mice in the three groups were orally administrated with 0.01 g·mL~(-1) Pruni Semen decoction or deionized water for one week. After that, the liver and spleen tissues were collected, and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(LC-MS)-based metabolomic analysis was carried out to investigate the impact of Pruni Semen on the liver and spleen metabolism in mice. Compared with thte control group, the raw Pruni Semen group showed up-regulation of 11 metabolites and down-regulation of 57 metabolites in the spleen(P<0.05), as well as up-regulation of 15 metabolites and down-regulation of 58 metabolites in the liver(P<0.05). The fried Pruni Semen group showed up-regulation of 31 metabolites and down-regulation of 10 metabolites in the spleen(P<0.05), along with up-regulation of 26 metabolites and down-regulation of 61 metabolites in the liver(P<0.05). The differential metabolites identified in the raw Pruni Semen group were primarily associated with alanine, aspartate, and glutamate metabolism, purine metabolism, amino sugar and nucleotide sugar metabolism, and D-glutamine and D-glutamate metabolism. The differential metabolites identified in the fried Pruni Semen group predominantly involved riboflavin metabolism, amino sugar and nucleotide sugar metabolism, purine metabolism, alanine, aspartate, and glutamate metabolism, D-glutamine and D-glutamate metabolism, and glutathione metabolism. The findings suggest that both raw and fried Pruni Semen have the potential to modulate the metabolism of the liver and spleen in mice by influencing the glutamine and glutamate metabolism.

RESUMEN

Sorghum aphid (Melanaphis sacchari) and head smut fungi (Sporisorium reilianum) infesting sorghum cause delayed growth and development, and reduce yield and quality. This study use bioinformatics and molecular biological approaches to profile the gene expression pattern during sorghum development and under pest infestation, and analyzed the natural allelic DNA variation of sorghum MYC gene family. The findings provide insights for potential application in breeding the stress resistant and high productivity sorghum varieties. The results indicated that there are 28 MYC genes identified in sorghum genome, distributed on 10 chromosomes. The bHLH_MYC_N and HLH domains are the conserved domains of the MYC gene in sorghum. Gene expression analysis showed that SbbHLH35.7g exhibited high expression levels in leaves, SbAbaIn showed strong expression in early grains, and SbMYC2.1g showed high expression levels in mature pollen. In anti-aphid strains at the 5-leaf stage, SbAbaIn, SbLHW.4g and SbLHW.2g were significantly induced in leaves, while SbbHLH35.7g displayed the highest expression level in panicle tissue, which was significantly induced by the infection of head smut. Promoter cis-element analysis identified methyl jasmonate (MJ), abscisic acid (ABA), salicylic acid (SA) and MYB-binding sites related to drought-stress inducibility. Furthermore, genomic resequencing data analysis revealed natural allelic DNA variations such as single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and insertion-deletion (INDEL) for the key SbMYCs. Protein interaction network analysis using STRING indicated that SbAbaIn interacts with TIFYdomain protein, and SbbHLH35.7g interacts with MDR and imporin. SbMYCs exhibited temporal and spatial expression patterns and played vital roles during the sorghum development. Infestation by sugarcane aphids and head smut fungi induced the expression of SbAbaIn and SbbHLH35.7g, respectively. SbAbaIn modulated the jasmonic acid (JA) pathway to regulate the expression of defensive genes, conferring resistance to insects. On the other hand, SbbHLH35.7g participated in detoxification reactions to defend against pathogens.

RESUMEN

In this study, the feasibility of tracing the origin of yak meat in Xizang Autonomous Region based on stable isotope combined with multivariable statistics was researched. The δ13C, δ15N, δ2H and δ18O in yak meat were determined by stable isotope ratio mass spectrometry, and the data were analyzed by analysis of variance, fisher discriminant analysis (FDA), back propagation (BP) neural network and orthogonal partial least squares discrimination analysis (OPLS-DA). The results showed that the δ13C, δ15N, δ2H and δ18O had significant differences among different origins (P < 0.05). The overall original correct discrimination rate of fisher discriminant analysis was 89.7 %, and the correct discrimination rate of cross validation was 88.2 %. The correct classification rate of BP neural network based on training set was 93.38 %, and the correct classification rate of BP neural network based on test set was 89.83 %. The OPLS-DA model interpretation rate parameter R2Y was 0.67, the model prediction rate parameter Q2 was 0.409, which could distinguish yak meat from seven different producing areas in Xizang Autonomous Region. The results showed that the origin of yak meat in Xizang Autonomous Region can be traced based on stable isotope combined with multivariate statistics.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: We investigated the role of lnc_AABR07044470.1 on the occurrence and development of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and neuronal injury by targeting the miR-214-3p/PERM1 axis to find a novel clinical drug target and prediction and treatment of AIS. METHODS: The mouse AIS animal model was used in vivo experiments and hypoxia/reoxygenation cell model in vitro was established. Firstly, infarction volume and pathological changes of mouse hippocampal neurons were detected using HE staining. Secondly, rat primary neuron apoptosis was detected by flow cytometry assay. The numbers of neuron, microglia and astrocytes were detected using immunofluorescence (IF). Furthermore, binding detection was performed by bioinformatics database and double luciferase reporter assay. Lnc_AABR07044470.1 localization was performed using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).Lnc_AABR07044470.1, miR-214-3pand PERM1mRNA expression was performed using RT-qPCR. NLRP3, ASC, Caspase-1 and PERM1 protein expression was performed using Western blotting. IL-1ß was detected by ELISA assay. RESULTS: Mouse four-vessel occlusion could easily establish the animal model, and AIS animal model had an obvious time-dependence. HE staining showed that, compared with the sham group, infarction volume and pathological changes of mouse hippocampal neurons were deteriorated in the model group. Furthermore, compared with the sham group, neurons were significantly reduced, while microglia and astrocytes were significantly activated. Moreover, the bioinformatics prediction and detection of double luciferase reporter confirmed the binding site of lnc_AABR07044470.1 to miR-214-3p and miR-214-3p to Perm1. lnc_AABR07044470.1 and PERM1 expression was significantly down-regulated and miR-214-3pexpression was significantly up-regulated in AIS animal model in vivo. At the same time, the expression of inflammasome NLRP3, ASC, Caspase-1 and pro-inflammatory factor IL-1ß was significantly up-regulated in vivo and in vitro. The over-expression of lnc_AABR07044470.1 and miR-214-3p inhibitor could inhibit the neuron apoptosis and the expression of inflammasome NLRP3, ASC, Caspase-1 and pro-inflammatory factor IL-1ß and up-regulate the expression of PERM1 in vitro. Finally, over-expression of lnc_AABR07044470.1 and miR-214-3p inhibitor transfected cell model was significant in relieving the AIS and neuronal injury. CONCLUSION: Lnc_AABR07044470.1 promotes inflammatory response to neuronal injury via miR-214-3p/PERM1 axis in AIS.

RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: To date, a total of 2574 validated flea species have been discovered. Vermipsyllidae is a family of fleas that comprises at least eight species. Vermipsylla is a genus of the family Vermipsyllidae within the order Siphonaptera of fleas. Here a novel Vermipsylla species was described, and rickettsial agent was also detected in it. METHODS: A total of 128 fleas were collected directly from 260 pastured sheep in China. Of these, eight representative fleas (four males and four females) were identified by key morphological features. Meanwhile, 120 flea DNAs, including six flea samples for molecular taxonomy, were subjected to Rickettsia spp. DNA detection. The molecular identity of fleas was determined by amplification and sequenmce analysis of four genetic markers (the 28S rDNA genes, the 18S rDNA genes, the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I and subunit II). In addition, five Rickettsia-specific gene fragments were used to identify the species of the rickettsial agents. The amplified products were sequenced and phylogenetically analyzed. RESULTS: The morphological characteristics of the flea species identified in this study were similar to Vermipsylla alakurt, but presented difference in hair number of the metepimeron, the third tergum, the genitals and the tibiae of hind leg. The 18S rDNA, 28S rDNA and COII genetic markers from fleas showed the highest identity to those of V. alakurt, shared 98.45% (954/969), 95.81% (892/931) and 85.86% (571/665) similarities, respectively. However, the COI sequence showed the highest identity to that of Dorcadia ioffi with 88.48% (576/651) similarity. Rickettsia raoutii tested positive in 14.17% (17/120) flea DNA samples. CONCLUSION: Our study reports the detection of R. raoultii in V. alakurt-like fleas infesting sheep in China.

RESUMEN

Dysregulated cellular proliferation represents a hallmark feature across all cancers. Aberrant activation of the cyclin-dependent kinase 4 and 6 (CDK4/6) pathway, independent of mitogenic signaling, engenders uncontrolled breast cancer cell proliferation. Consequently, the advent of CDK4/6 inhibition has constituted a pivotal milestone in the realm of targeted breast cancer therapy. The combination of CDK4/6 inhibitors (CDK4/6i) with endocrine therapy (ET) has emerged as the foremost therapeutic modality for patients afflicted with hormone receptor-positive (HR + )/HER2-negative (HER2-) advanced breast cancer. At present, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has sanctioned various CDK4/6i for employment as the primary treatment regimen in HR + /HER2- breast cancer. This therapeutic approach has demonstrated a substantial extension of progression-free survival (PFS), often amounting to several months, when administered alongside endocrine therapy. Within this comprehensive review, we systematically evaluate the utilization strategies of CDK4/6i across various subpopulations of breast cancer and explore potential therapeutic avenues following disease progression during application of CDK4/6i therapy.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Rodents play an important role in the life cycle of ixodid and argasid ticks, particularly as hosts of larvae and nymphs. The great gerbil (Rhombomys opimus), the preferred prey item of several carnivores (e.g. the red fox and marbled polecat), is the dominant rodent species in the Gurbantunggut Desert in northwestern China. The aim of this study was to investigate tick species associated with different hosts in the habitat of great gerbils, including wildlife and livestock. METHODS: During 2018-2023, ticks were removed from 326 great gerbils, two red foxes (Vulpes vulpes), three marbled polecats (Vormela peregusna), 35 pastured sheep (Ovis aries), and one long-eared desert hedgehog (Hemiechinus auritus) in the Gurbantunggut Desert. Ticks were identified according to standard morphological keys. Then, they were further analyzed by molecular and phylogenic methods based on two mitochondrial markers, 16S rDNA and cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) genes. RESULTS: A total of 889 ticks were collected, representing five species. These included Hyalomma asiaticum (n = 425: 24 larvae, 79 nymphs and 322 adults), Rhipicephalus turanicus (n = 153: 2 nymphs and 151 adults), Haemaphysalis erinacei (n = 298: 4 larvae, 7 nymphs and 287 adults), Ixodes acuminatus (n = 7: 4 nymphs and 3 adults) and Ornithodoros tartakovskyi (6 adults). Based on COI sequences, molecular and phylogenetic analyses showed that (i) I. acuminatus from great gerbils and marbled polecats clustered with I. acuminatus reported from Europe; (ii) O. tartakovskyi found in northwestern China belonged to an independent clade; (iii) Hy. asiaticum, R. turanicus and Ha. erinacei had 100% sequence identities to conspecific ticks sampled previously in China. CONCLUSIONS: The great gerbil is an important host for the developmental stages of I. acuminatus, O. tartakovskyi, Ha. erinacei, Hy. asiaticum and R. turanicus, thus supporting the life cycle of several tick species which, as adults, parasitize predators (red fox and marble polecat) as well as pastured sheep and hedgehogs in the Gurbantunggut Desert. Ixodes acuminatus and O. tartakovskyi were found for the first time on great gerbil and marbled polecat, respectively.

RESUMEN

This study aimed to explore the efficacy and potential mechanisms of rechallenge therapy with microtubule-targeting agents (MTAs) in patients with HER2-low metastatic breast cancer (MBC). We performed a systematic review to investigate the rechallenge treatment concept in the field of HER2-low MBC treatment and utilized a series of cases identified in the literature to illustrate the concept. Here we reported two clinical cases of HER2-low MBC patients whose disease progressed after prior treatment with MTAs such as docetaxel and vincristine. When rechallenged with disitamab vedotin ((RC48-antibody-drug conjugate (ADC), a monomethyl auristatin (MMAE) MTA)), both patients achieved a partial response and the final progression-free survival (PFS) was 13.5 and 9 months, respectively. Genomic profiling detected a PIK3CA H1047R mutation in the patients. The patients were treated with everolimus before being rechallenged with RC48, which may lead to a better response. This study further summarizes and analyzes the potential mechanism of the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway in MTA resistance and reveals that the PIK3CA H1047R mutation may be a potential molecular marker for the efficacy prediction of mTOR inhibitors, providing new insights and potential therapeutic strategies for the application of MTAs to MBC patients.

RESUMEN

In recent years, the problem of food adulteration has become increasingly rampant, seriously hindering the development of food production, consumption, and management. The common analytical methods used to determine food authenticity present challenges, such as complicated analysis processes and time-consuming procedures, necessitating the development of rapid, efficient analysis technology for food authentication. Spectroscopic techniques, ambient ionization mass spectrometry (AIMS), electronic sensors, and DNA-based technology have gradually been applied for food authentication due to advantages such as rapid analysis and simple operation. This paper summarizes the current research on rapid food authenticity analysis technology from three perspectives, including breeds or species determination, quality fraud detection, and geographical origin identification, and introduces chemometrics method adapted to rapid analysis techniques. It aims to promote the development of rapid analysis technology in the food authenticity field.

RESUMEN

Carbon fiber-reinforced polyether ether ketone (CFRPEEK) implants have attracted widespread attention in the field of clinical bone defect repair. However, the surface bioinertness confines the application of CFRPEEK implants. Inspired by the study of rosmarinic acid (RA)-promoted osteogenic differentiation, a self-assembly surface modification method based on electrostatic interactions, involving deposition of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose/chitosan and rosmarinic acid layer by layer on the surface of poly-L-lysine modified hydroxy CFRPEEK (SCPP/CC5@RA), is proposed to introduce RA on the surface of CFRPEEK for bioactivation. After layer-by-layer self-assembly (LBL), the surface of SCPP/CC5@RA exhibits weak electrophoresis (11.43 eV), suitable hydrophilicity, and bioactivity. The results of in vitro studies indicate that the RA release behavior of SCPP/CC5@RA effectively regulates the immune-inflammatory response and promotes the differentiation of osteoblasts. The rapid release of RA (0.17 µg mL-1) in the initial stage can downregulate the secretion of inflammation-related cytokines and significantly reduce oxidative stress levels; the sustained release of RA (0.06 µg mL-1) in the late stage can upregulate the expression of osteogenesis-related genes and induce mineralization of osteoblasts. Moreover, the rabbit tibia defect model demonstrates that the LBL technique can enhance the osseointegration of CFRPEEK implants. Compared with the control group, the bone trabecular thickness of the SCPP/CC5@RA group increases by 1.36 times, and the maximum pushing force increases by 2.67 times. In summary, this study provides a promising LBL based RA delivery system for the development of a dual-functional CFRPEEK implant in the field of bone implant biomaterials.

RESUMEN

Land reclamation is a widely adopted method for managing land shortage and promoting coastal economic development globally. However, its impacts on biodiversity vary based on distinct reclamation histories and land use management strategies in different regions. This study aims to examine the effects of reclamation history and land use types at different spatial scales on anuran communities in coastal reclaimed land, which are an important taxon in the coastal ecosystem. We used visual and acoustic encounter methods to survey anurans in 2016 and 2017 across 20 1-km radius coastal land reclamation landscapes with different reclamation histories (10, 20, and 60 y after reclamation) in Nanhui Dongtan of Shanghai, an important coastal land reclamation region along the Yangtze River Estuary. Landscape variables (farmlands, woodlands, and impermeable surface covers, and the landscape Shannon diversity index) at four different spatial scales (250 m, 500 m, 750 m and 1000 m) and water salinity in each landscape were measured. Our findings reveal differences in anuran communities between study sites with 10, 20, and 60 years of reclamation history. Abundances of the ornamented pygmy frog (Microhyla fissipes) and Beijing gold-striped pond frog (Pelophylax plancyi) in landscapes with a 10-year reclamation history were significantly lower compared to those with histories of 20 and 60 years. Zhoushan toad (Bufo gargarizans) abundance was significantly negatively related to farmland cover at the 1000 m scale and impermeable surface cover at the 250 m scale; Hong Kong rice-paddy frog (Fejervarya multistriata) abundance was significantly positively related to farmland cover at the 1000 m scale; ornamented pygmy frog abundance was positively related to farmland cover at the 1000 m scale; and Beijing gold-striped pond frog abundance was significantly positively and negatively related to the landscape Shannon diversity index at the 1000 m scale and to water salinity, respectively. Amphibians quickly migrated and colonized coastal reclaimed land from older natural lands. However, two anuran species with specific habitat requirements tended to avoid areas with shorter reclamation histories. The single-species models revealed different responses to various land uses at the various scales, which indicated that land use management was important to amphibian conservation in coastal reclamation regions.
