Background: Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the learning pattern of medical students shifted from onsite to online. This transition may contribute to what has been called "Zoom fatigue." This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of Zoom fatigue related to online learning, identify associated factors of Zoom fatigue, and explore its correlation with depression among medical students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 1st to 6th-year Thai medical students. The online survey was administered using a demographic and health behavior questionnaire, the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), and the Thai version of the Zoom Exhaustion & Fatigue Scale (ZEF-T). Results: Among the 386 participating students, 221 (57%) were female, with a mean age of 20.6 years. The prevalence of high Zoom fatigue was 9.6%. In the multivariable regression analysis, a lower academic year and a higher number of online learning sessions were significant predictors of Zoom fatigue (p < 0.001), while regular exercise emerged as a protective factor (p = 0.009). The prevalence of depressive disorder was 61.9%, and a significant correlation was found between having a depressive disorder and experiencing Zoom fatigue (p = 0.004). Conclusion: Zoom fatigue among medical students was correlated with depression. Consequently, medical students experiencing Zoom fatigue should undergo further assessment for depression. It is crucial to closely monitor medical students in lower academic years with a high number of online sessions for signs of Zoom fatigue. Additionally, implementing strategies, such as reducing the frequency of online sessions and promoting regular exercise, may help alleviate the symptoms.

Background Hemodialysis is a chronic replacement therapy recommended during end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in chronic kidney disease (CKD). Post-dialysis fatigue (PDF) is one of the symptoms patients experience after the treatment. This multifactorial condition is subjective and characterized by a lack of physical and emotional energy. It can be associated with other symptoms such as nausea, headache, muscle cramps, and hypotension. Currently, researchers have not been able to find defined etiologies and pathogenesis. This study aims to analyze the influence of PDF predictors within a sample of patients undergoing hemodialysis. Methodology A multicenter, observational study was conducted on a convenience sample of 250 CKD patients with ESRD on hemodialysis between February and July 2023. PDF was assessed using the Piper Fatigue Scale (PFS), administered in both paper and electronic formats. The data analysis was done using descriptive and inferential statistics and correlation tests. Results The analysis revealed that sleep disorders perceived (p = 0.0001; τ = 0.23), the presence of comorbidity (p = 0.003; τ = 0.18), the number of weekly sessions (p = 0.012; τ = 0.15), and the period of hemodialysis (p = 0.0069; τ = 0.15) had a positive correlation with the PFS score. The study highlighted that hemoglobin level (p = 0.017; τ = - 0.14) and sex (p = 0.012; τ = 0.15) affected the PDF perception. Patients who engaged in physical activities or used distraction techniques (p = 1.83e-05; τ = 0.26) to alleviate PDF reported lower average scores on the PFS (2.27 points) compared to those who did not engage in any such activities. Conclusions Hemodialysis appears to be a source of stress for most patients, as they showed a moderate-to-severe score on the PFS scale. PDF is a multifactorial problem that must be recognized and treated properly by nurses through pharmacological therapies, as well as by educating and providing alternative strategies, that can contribute to alleviating the effects of fatigue.

BACKGROUND: Long COVID is prevalent in the general population. Exercise is a promising component of rehabilitation for long COVID patients. AIM: This study examined the effects of exercise interventions on managing long COVID symptoms. METHODS: In this systematic review and meta-analysis, a systematic search was conducted through June 2023 using keywords such as "long COVID" and "post-acute COVID-19 syndrome" among major electronic databases. Randomized controlled trials that examined the effect of exercise on patients suffering from long COVID were included. Nine studies involving 672 individuals were included in this study. RESULTS: The main outcomes for exercise interventions in patients with long COVID were fatigue, dyspnea, anxiety, depression, and cognitive impairment. The exercise interventions comprised aerobic exercise, multimodal exercise, breathing exercise, and Taichi. Most of the included studies (6/9) were at high risk of bias. According to the meta-analyses, exercise significantly improved long COVID fatigue (ES = 0.89, 95% CI: 0.27 to 1.50) and dyspnea (ES = 1.21, 95% CI [0.33, 2.09]), whereas no significant effect was identified on long COVID anxiety, depression, and cognitive impairment. According to subgroup analyses, multimodal exercise had the broadest spectrum of benefits on long COVID symptoms (including fatigue, dyspnea, and depression), and supervised exercise, intervention frequency ≤4 times a week, the passive control group also showed a positive effect on some long COVID symptoms.

Purpose: Manual therapy is used as a conservative treatment for people with low back pain (LBP). The scale of the problem encourages the search for the most effective methods to assess of manual treatment. Therefore, the aim of the study was to investigate magnitude of changes in muscle endurance using the Biering-Sorensen test (BST) and to analyse balance in patients with LBP treated with ERS and FRS muscle energy techniques (MET). Methods: The study included fifteen men with LBP (mean age: 42 years) working as automotive assemblers. Endurance of the biceps femoris (BF), gluteus maximus (GM) and erector spinae (ES) muscles were analysed using sEMG during the BST. The level of experienced pain, degree of disability and postural stability were also examined. Results before and after a three-week treatment cycle using MET were compared. Results: The MET therapy resulted in a reduction in pain ( p = 0.001), an improvement in the degree of disability ( p < 0.001) and an increase in the duration of the BST ( p < 0.001). After therapy, the values of the NMFs parameter indicating the degree of fatigue increased, i.e., ES muscle endurance increased, both right ( p = 0.004) and left ( p < 0.001). There was also a statistically significant decrease in the centre of pressure (COP) movement velocity in balance tests. Conclusions: The use of MET in patients with LBP increases muscle endurance, improves postural balance, and reduces pain levels on the VAS and disability levels according to the ODI. MET appears to be a good tool for preventing LBP.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Fatigue is a pervasive and debilitating symptom of multiple sclerosis (MS) that severely impairs quality of life and daily functioning. This emphasizes the essential need for complementary therapies that go beyond conventional therapies. Although acupuncture is gaining popularity in MS management, there is a critical lack of rigorous research on its effectiveness in alleviating symptoms. METHODS: A comprehensive literature search was conducted across multiple databases, focusing on studies evaluating acupuncture's effectiveness in alleviating fatigue in MS patients. Key outcomes measured in the analysis included fatigue, quality of life, and disability. RESULTS: Six studies were included in the analysis, consisting of two observational studies and four randomized controlled trials. The analysis focused on evaluating acupuncture's efficacy in alleviating fatigue induced by MS. Despite variations in acupuncture protocols, outcome metrics, and control conditions, our meta-analysis revealed that acupuncture significantly reduces fatigue (MD: -0.92, 95 % CI: -1.36 to -0.47, p < 0.0001) and enhances quality of life (SMD: 0.91, 95 % CI: 0.07-1.74, p = 0.03), underscoring its potential as a therapeutic intervention in the management of MS. CONCLUSION: The meta-analysis suggests a notable improvement in MS-related fatigue following acupuncture, both compared to controls and pre-treatment levels, positioning it as a potential adjunct therapy. However, the prevalent risk of bias in these studies necessitates further high-quality research, along with studies involving larger patient cohorts, to definitively ascertain acupuncture's efficacy and safety in this context.

BACKGROUND: Fatigue is the most commonly experienced symptom among people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and has the greatest impact in reducing quality of life. It is important to measure change in MS-related fatigue (MS-fatigue) in response to treatment, particularly the more recent disease modifying therapies (DMTs). To date there has been no systematic literature review of the patient reported outcome (PRO) tools used to measure MS- fatigue specifically in the context of DMTs. METHODS: MEDLINE, Embase and Clinicaltrials.gov were searched from 01 January 2000 to 13 April 2021 to identify published studies of the treatment of MS with DMTs. Studies where MS-fatigue was measured as an outcome using a PRO tool were included in the review. Further literature searches were undertaken to provide information about the development and validation of each PRO tool. RESULTS: 739 abstracts and 96 clinical trials were manually screened resulting in 68 articles for full text screening. 48 studies were identified for the review; 10 of these were RCTs that considered MS-fatigue as a secondary outcome (4 were Phase 3 trials). The PRO instruments used in the 10 RCTs were the Fatigue Scale for Motor and Cognitive Functions, Fatigue Impact Scale, Modified Fatigue Impact Scale, Fatigue Severity Scale, and Fatigue Symptoms and Impacts Questionnaire - Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis. The other 38 studies were all open-label, longitudinal, non-randomized studies and used the following PRO instruments in addition to those listed above: the Visual Analogue Scale for Fatigue, the Fatigue Descriptive Scale, Modified Fatigue Impact Scale (5 items) and the Würzburger Fatigue Inventory for MS. All these PRO tools were specifically developed for MS-fatigue. Of these 9 PRO tools, 7 were of good methodological quality according to the existing validation studies using the Consensus-based standards for the selection of health measurement instruments (COSMIN) check list and were used in the majority of the MS DMT studies (44/48, 92%). The median follow-up time from baseline to PRO measurement was 12 months (range 1-36 months). Most studies reported on MS fatigue in terms of its change from baseline and whether the change was statistically significant. 5 studies also reported what they considered to be a clinically meaningful difference. CONCLUSIONS: Although fatigue has the greatest impact on quality of life in people with MS, few studies have rigorously investigated the impact of DMTs on fatigue. Comparisons between study outcomes using different PRO tools is challenging due to the variety of psychometric constructs addressed by the questionnaires and differences in the recall period for fatigue symptoms and the measurement scale. Furthermore most of the PRO tools used to quantify MS-fatigue in studies of DMTs are descended from PRO tools developed during the 1990s before DMTs emerged and before widespread patient involvement in PRO development. New PRO tools should involve patients in their development as recommended by the US Food and Drug Administration and the validation process should consider the sensitivity of the PRO tool to change in fatigue over time or between groups.

Patients with schizophrenia exhibit functional impairments in their locomotory tasks, which decreases their quality of life. Due to the limited current research, the neuromuscular mechanisms behind the functional impairments in patients is not fully understood. Thus, this review aims to summarize the neuromuscular mechanisms that underlie these deficits in daily functioning. These deficits are speculated to stem from abnormalities at various levels from neurons through to the skeletal muscles. The neurological abnormalities are exhibited as lower motor neuron dysfunction whereas the skeletal muscle pathology is shown as increased muscle fibre (type 1 and type 2) atrophy, reduction in maximal force generation, and increased strength loss per decade. Although antipsychotics effectively reduce positive symptoms, functional impairments remain unresolved. Both endurance and resistance training have shown potential benefits in alleviating deficits in daily functioning by increasing muscular strength, increasing fat-free mass, and preserving neuromuscular properties from degradation. In summary, the review elucidates various possible mechanisms for the onset of functional impairment experienced by patients with schizophrenia and highlights the potential utility of endurance and resistance training to alleviate these deficits in daily functioning.

Veterinary medicine has embarked on a journey of understanding the factors impacting the psychological, emotional, physical, and social health of its people. Discussions of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging must address wellbeing; discussions of wellbeing must address diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The profession and the world at large have failed to draw a direct correlation between the two. This article sheds light onto the inextricable link between the two so that no one is left behind as the health of the profession and its people advances.

The professional quality of life (ProQOL) is increasingly applied to nurses and is a measure of the positive and negative aspects of their work. This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the level of compassion satisfaction, burnout and secondary traumatic stress (STS) in empirical studies. Electronic databases Scopus, PubMed and Web of Science were searched on 7th February 2024, and the review followed PRISMA guidelines. The pooled estimate of compassion satisfaction, burnout and secondary traumatic stress mean scores using a random-effects model for meta-analyses was undertaken. R statistical software and the dmetar program were used to execute the analysis. Heterogeneity was evaluated with the I2 statistics, while publication bias was evaluated using Egger's regression test. Twenty-four studies (sample size = 4274) were systematically reviewed and 18 studies (n = 3163) were incorporated into the meta-analysis. Burnout, secondary traumatic stress and compassion satisfaction are found to be at moderate levels in this research. The qualitative analysis informs that variables such as healthy lifestyle, work environment and psychological resilience contribute towards optimum ProQOL scores. The pooled mean estimate was 32.79 (95% CI = 29.57-36) for compassion satisfaction, 24.99 (95% CI = 23.75-26.23) for burnout and 21.99 (95% CI = 18.93-25.06) for secondary traumatic stress, respectively. Mental health nurse managers need to address the factors in the work environment and promote interventions to enhance coping with burnout and STS. Subgroup analyses of country-based economies & regions and years revealed significant results.

INTRODUCTION: Patterns of treatment response can inform clinical decision-making. This study assessed the course and impact of achieving minimal clinically important improvement (MCII) in clinical measures and patient-reported outcomes (PROs) with guselkumab in patients with active psoriatic arthritis (PsA). METHODS: Post hoc analyses evaluated 1120 patients with PsA receiving guselkumab every 4 or 8 weeks (Q4W/Q8W) or placebo from DISCOVER-1 (31% tumor necrosis factor inhibitor-experienced) and DISCOVER-2 (biologic-naïve). Achievement of MCII in clinical Disease Activity Index for PsA (cDAPSA), patient global assessment (PtGA) of arthritis, PtGA of psoriasis, patient-reported pain, Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue, Health Assessment Questionnaire-Disability Index, 36-item Short-Form Health Survey Physical Component Summary score, PtGA Arthritis + Psoriasis, and PsA Disease Activity Score (PASDAS) was compared between the guselkumab and placebo groups using Cox regression. Logistic regression adjusting for baseline factors evaluated associations between early (W4/W8) MCII achievement and stringent response (≥%50/%70 improvement in American College of Rheumatology response criteria, cDAPSA low disease activity [LDA], PASDAS LDA, and minimal disease activity) at W24/W52 among guselkumab-randomized patients. RESULTS: Among patients with highly active PsA (baseline cDAPSA = 44.1-45.0, PASDAS = 6.4-6.5), times to MCII were significantly faster for guselkumab vs. placebo (hazard ratios 1.3-2.5; P < 0.05). Across measures, at first timepoint assessed, MCII rates were significantly higher with guselkumab (Q4W/Q8W 28-68%/29-65%) vs. placebo (19-47%; both P < 0.05). Early (W4/W8) MCII with guselkumab associated with higher odds of achieving stringent responses at W24/W52 (odds ratios 1.4-17.2/1.4-5.4). CONCLUSIONS: In a mixed PsA population, significant proportions of patients treated with guselkumab achieved early (W4/W8) MCII across clinical and PRO measures, which associated with a higher likelihood of attaining clinically relevant improvements and low levels of disease activity at W24/W52. In this study, to clarify the failure mechanism of the last-stage rotor blade in the low-pressure cylinder of a steam turbine, the peculiarities of crack initiation and propagation on the inlet side of the last-stage rotor blade at a distance of 125-165 mm were analyzed, along with the corrosion fatigue properties of its materials. The results showed that crack initiation occurred at the tip of the pit due to a combination of factors: stress concentration at the tip of the pit, corrosion of the Cr-poor area near the prior austenite grain boundary, centrifugal tensile stress, and steam bending stress. The crack propagation could be divided into the initial intergranular and late transgranular propagation stages. The main reason for the initial intergranular propagation was stress corrosion, and the main reason for the later transgranular propagation was corrosion fatigue. High-frequency induction quenching technology can improve the microhardness of the blade's surface material and enhance the blade's resistance to water erosion, but it may also reduce the corrosion fatigue resistance of the blade material. The rotary bending corrosion fatigue test can effectively simulate the crack propagation process of the blade. These results are of great significance for the safe operation of the last-stage rotor blade in the low-pressure cylinder of a steam turbine.

BACKGROUND: Due to progressive muscle wasting and weakness in patients with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), physical fatigability increases, upper extremity function reduces, which negatively impacts quality of life. Assistive technology such as dynamic arm supports (DAS) may help reduce this fatigability. This study aims to assess whether the novel Yumen 'EXone' DAS can reduce upper extremity fatigue and fatigability in DMD patients and healthy controls (HC), both with and without the DAS. Additionally, longitudinal changes in DMD patients were evaluated. METHODS: Five DMD patients from the Yumen Bionics pioneer program and five HCs participated. Two submaximal tests simulating drinking and reaching were performed for two minutes, each with and without DAS. DMD participants completed these tests twice, at baseline (T0) and after 6-9 months (T1), while HCs completed them once. Physical fatigability was measured by the number of repetitions and changes in surface electromyography (sEMG) amplitude. Subjective fatigue was assessed using the Borg Scale (6-20) Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE). RESULTS: DMD participants generally performed more repetitions with the DAS than without. HCs showed similar or increased repetitions with the DAS. Assessing fatigability with sEMG was difficult due to the compensatory mechanisms used for the tests. Subjective fatigue scores on the Borg Scale were lower with the DAS for both DMD patients and HCs. CONCLUSION: The Yumen 'EXone' DAS effectively reduces both fatigue and fatigability in DMD patients and healthy controls. Despite the methodological shortcomings, this research is one of the first studies investigating the impact of DAS on fatigue and fatigability.


This study is one of the pioneering studies investigating the impact of a dynamic arm support on fatigue and fatigability in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.Both, physical fatigability and experienced fatigue, decrease when using a dynamic arm support.Using sEMG to assess fatigability in DMD is difficult due to the compensatory mechanisms used for daily life task performance.Reduced fatigue and fatigability when using a dynamic arm support could be a significant reason for its use, alongside enhanced arm functionality.

BACKGROUND:  Limited research is available regarding the professional quality of life experiences of South African speech-language therapists and audiologists, despite the implications this has for wellbeing, quality of patient care, productivity and attrition from the professions. OBJECTIVES:  This study explored levels of compassion satisfaction, burnout, and secondary traumatic stress, the relationships between these, differences on the basis of registration and years of experience and participants' perceptions of their professional quality of life. METHOD:  A sample of 92 South African speech-language therapists and audiologists completed an online survey that included the Professional Quality of Life (ProQOL) scale. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics, analysis of variation (ANOVA), correlations and thematic analysis. RESULTS:  The findings indicated that participants experienced slightly higher levels of secondary traumatic stress and burnout and slightly lower levels of compassion satisfaction than international samples. There were significant inter-relationships between the three elements of professional quality of life, and no significant differences for these on the basis of registration or years of experience. Participants identified a range of factors that contributed to their experiences of compassion satisfaction and fatigue, as well as suggestions for improvement. CONCLUSION:  Professional quality of life plays an important role in South African speech-language therapists and audiologists' professionalism, job performance and satisfaction and retention.Contribution: The data collected provide valuable insights into the professional quality of life experiences of South African speech-language therapists and audiologists, as well as those working in similar contexts. It also offers suggestions that may contribute to future research and interventions.

We examined the sensitivity and time-course of recovery of neuromuscular and perceptual player monitoring measures to U-18 English Premier League academy football match play. Eighteen players performed maximal posterior chain, hip adductor and abductor isometric strength tests, countermovement jumps (CMJ) and provided self-report wellbeing scores around eight competitive league home games: 1 day before (MD-1), pre-match (MD-PRE), post-match (MD-POST) and two (MD+2) and three (MD+3) days post-match. A permutational multivariate analysis of variance and post hoc univariate analyses of variance were used to examine match-induced responses to monitoring variables. Between MD-1 and MD-POST, we observed small to moderate reductions to the adductor and abductor peak force and maximal impulse and IPCS peak force; small reductions to CMJ jump height (JH) (flight time), eccentric peak force and eccentric deceleration rate of force development and moderate to large reductions to perceived fatigue, muscle soreness and mood. No match-induced changes were observed for CMJ flight time: contraction time or eccentric duration. Posterior chain, abductor, CMJ and self-report measures normalised by MD+3 but adductor peak force remained compromised at MD+3 (ES = small). Posterior chain, adductor and abductor peak isometric force and maximal impulse; CMJ JH, eccentric peak force and eccentric deceleration rate of force development and perceived fatigue, muscle soreness and mood are sensitive to match-induced fatigue. Since adductor peak force remained compromised at MD+3, it is apparent that players might not achieve complete neuromuscular recovery within 3 days of match play, and that the adductor muscle group might be particularly vulnerable to match-induced fatigue.

Iron deficiency and iron deficiency anaemia are frequently under-recognised in chronic conditions with non-specific symptoms, including fatigue. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of iron deficiency with or without anaemia in chronic pain patients, and the association between iron deficiency status, fatigue and health-related quality of life. Eighty-two patients attending chronic pain outpatient appointments were recruited into this cross-sectional study. Iron studies and haemoglobin were determined from venous blood samples. Participants' health-related quality of life was assessed with the 36-item short form survey and fatigue with the functional assessment of chronic illness therapy fatigue scale. Iron deficiency was prevalent in 58.8% of patients and 2.5% met the criteria for iron deficiency anaemia. There was no significant association between iron deficiency status and the functional assessment of chronic illness therapy fatigue scale score or 36-item short form survey domain scores. There was a high prevalence of iron deficiency in this group of chronic pain patients, while the prevalence of iron deficiency anaemia was low. There was no statistically significant association found between iron deficiency status and fatigue or quality of life measures.

Aiming at the problem that the feature extraction ability of forehead single-channel electroencephalography (EEG) signals is insufficient, which leads to decreased fatigue detection accuracy, a fatigue feature extraction and classification algorithm based on supervised contrastive learning is proposed. Firstly, the raw signals are filtered by empirical modal decomposition to improve the signal-to-noise ratio. Secondly, considering the limitation of the one-dimensional signal in information expression, overlapping sampling is used to transform the signal into a two-dimensional structure, and simultaneously express the short-term and long-term changes of the signal. The feature extraction network is constructed by depthwise separable convolution to accelerate model operation. Finally, the model is globally optimized by combining the supervised contrastive loss and the mean square error loss. Experiments show that the average accuracy of the algorithm for classifying three fatigue states can reach 75.80%, which is greatly improved compared with other advanced algorithms, and the accuracy and feasibility of fatigue detection by single-channel EEG signals are significantly improved. The results provide strong support for the application of single-channel EEG signals, and also provide a new idea for fatigue detection research.

Whole-body vibration (WBV) has been employed for performance-enhancing purposes. WBV may positively affect muscular endurance and its underlying neural mechanisms due to an enhanced muscular blood circulation and oxygen uptake. However, the effects of WBV on endurance-related torque signal complexity have been understudied. This study aims to investigate the acute effects of WBV on i) maximal isometric torque production; ii) isometric knee extensors fatigability and iii) torque signal complexity during an isometric endurance task. Thirty adult males performed an isometric intermittent endurance protocol on their dominant lower limb after performing: static half squat with WBV (WBV), static half squat without WBV (HS), and no exercise protocol (CC). For each repetition the maximal torque was identified. The maximal torque of the first repetition was identified as the PeakT. The Mean torque (MTorque) and fatigue index (pFatigue) were calculated as the mean and the percentage decay in torque across the entire set of eighteen repetitions (MTorque0-100 %, pFatigue0-100 %), and across shorter blocks of six repetitions (MTorque0-33 %, pFatigue0-33 %; MTorque34-66 %, pFatigue34-66 %, and MTorque67-100 %, pFatigue67-100 %). Torque fluctuations were analysed computing Sample Entropy (SampEn) and the coefficient of variation (CV). PeakT was significantly higher in CC than in WBV (p < 0.01) and in HS (p < 0.01). PeakT was significantly higher in HS than in WB (p < 0.05). MTorque0-100 %, MTorque0-33 %, MTorque34-66 %, and MTorque67-100 % were significantly higher in CC than in WBV (all p-values <0.01) and in HS (p < 0.01). MTorque67-100 % was significantly higher in HS than in WB (p = 0.049). pFatigue34-66 % was significantly higher in WBV than in CC (p < 0.05) whereas pFatigue67-100 % was significantly higher in CC than in WB (p < 0.01) and in HS (p < 0.01). No effect of condition was observed for SampEn and CV. Acute WBV does not lead to beneficial effects on maximal torque production and isometric knee extensors fatigability. These acute detrimental effects may be related to long-term WBV-related adaptations.

Fatigue is a significant problem in patients with bladder cancer treated by radical cystectomy. This pilot study evaluated fatigue and related variables during a treatment period. Four measurements were made, the first 1 month after the cystectomy, and the next three at an interval of about 3 months each (at 4 months, 7 months, and 10 months after the surgery). In addition to the author's questionnaire (sociodemographic variables and a question about the impact of the disease on the patient's life), the FACIT-F Fatigue (to measure fatigue), NCCN/FACT FBISI-18, version 2 (symptoms, general condition of the patient), HADS (depression, anxiety, and irritability) measures were used. In this study, 21 patients participated in all four measurement periods. The fatigue intensity increased significantly between the first and second measurements and gradually decreased between the third and fourth measurements. As the severity of fatigue increases, can be observed an increase in the sense of the impact of the disease on the patient's life in all except the first measurement. The study revealed statistically significant correlations between fatigue and experiencing symptoms of cancer and treatment at each stage of the study, with the strongest correlations in the second and fourth measurements regarding symptoms of cancer and a stronger correlation in the second compared to the first measurement regarding side effects. At each stage of measurement, the experience of dizziness, lack of appetite, feeling of being sick, and feeling of annoyance from treatment side effects were statistically significantly correlated with fatigue. The intensity of fatigue correlated with the feeling of experiencing difficulties in meeting the needs of the family due to the physical condition in the first measurement (Rho = 0.76), a sense of weakness (Rho = 0.92) and sleepiness (Rho = 0.72) in the second measurement, pain in the third (Rho = 0.77). The greatest number of correlates of fatigue were described in the fourth measurement (all symptoms of cancer and side effects except losing weight). Stress, anxiety, depression and irritability were correlated with fatigue at each of the stages of research except the first one (without differences between the correlation coefficients in the second, third and fourth measurements). Significantly lower levels of fatigue characterised patients who survived over 6 months after the end of the study compared to the first three measurements.

Introduction: Fatigue is a multidimensional, highly individualized symptom experience perceived by people, regardless of health status. It is the most common complaint among those seeking primary care, yet, despite being a frequently reported symptom, it remains poorly understood. Methods: This is an exploratory study utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach that aims to explore the description of fatigue from the personal experiences of 16 participants living with chronic fatigue. Themes were generated from transcripts of in-depth interviews that focused on a central question: "how would you describe your fatigue from your own experience?" Results: Analysis of the participants' interview transcripts revealed three themes. The first theme focused on fatigue as a unique personal experience, which included experiential descriptions or measures of fatigue that the participants used to describe their symptoms. The second theme focused on fatigue as an experience beyond self, which highlighted the consequences of fatigue on interpersonal interactions and the performance of social roles, as well as the potential of utilizing social support to cope with the limitations caused by this condition. The last theme was on living with fatigue, which focused on ways participants attempted to discern their condition and manage the consequences of fatigue. Discussion: Experiences of chronic fatigue have patterns and personal meanings that vary between individuals. Caring for persons experiencing chronic fatigue requires acknowledgment of unique personal experiences and coping strategies. Due to the nature of the method, the results of this study are not generalizable and only reflect the experiences of the participants.
