BACKGROUND: Wilson disease is an autosomal recessive disorder owing to defective copper metabolism which causes abnormal accumulation of copper and damage to the liver, brain, kidneys and other organs. AIM: To describe the clinical features, laboratory investigations and outcome of Wilson disease in children. METHODS: A retrospective observational study was conducted in the paediatric department of a tertiary- care hospital in South India by reviewing medical records between January 2018 and March 2023. The diagnosis of Wilson disease was confirmed by the presence of low serum ceruloplasmin and/or high urine copper excretion in combination with clinical and ophthalmological features. RESULTS: A total of 32 cases were analysed. The mean (SD) age at presentation was 110 (36) months with a M:F ratio of 1.6:1. Isolated hepatic involvement was seen in 19 (60%) patients while 13 (40%) patients had a neurological presentation, either as an isolated entity or in combination with hepatic manifestations. Low serum ceruloplasmin levels were detected in 31 (96%) patients. Urine copper levels were elevated in all patients. Twenty-one patients were commenced on D penicillamine while 11 patients were treated with a combination chelation therapy with zinc. Eighteen patients (56%) were on regular follow-up. CONCLUSION: The clinical presentation of Wilson disease in children is diverse, varying from the more common hepatic or neurological manifestations to the less common atypical forms of the disease. Diagnosis is based on clinical and ophthalmological features in combination with biochemical abnormalities in the form of low ceruloplasmin and high urinary copper. The majority of patients can be medically managed with chelation therapy.

An oxidase (OXD) -like AuAg@AuNPs nanozyme was prepared by Au seeds growth using dopamine carbon dots as reducing and capping agents. The AuAg@AuNPs show excellent OXD-like and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) activities and can oxidize the non-Raman-active leucomalachite green (LMG) into the Raman-active malachite green (MG). The research displays that D-penicillamine (D-PA) can effectively inhibit the OXD-like activity of Au@AgNPs and enhance the SERS signals as substrate. It is attributed to the formation of S-Au bond due to thiol (-SH) in D-PA. Therefore, a highly sensitive and specific SERS dual-readout sensing platform was proposed to assay D-PA with a limit of detection of 0.1 µg/mL (direct SERS mode) and 6.64 µg/L (indirect SERS mode). This approach was successfully used to determine D-PA in actual pharmaceutical formulations.

D-penicillamine (PA) is the primary chelator of choice to treat Wilson disease (WD). There are limitations in obtaining comprehensive data on PA metabolites in biological specimens by conventional approaches. Hence, the aim of the present was to identify the major hepatic PA metabolites and draw clear conclusions of the drug's xenobiotic in WD. Urine samples were collected from children with hepatic WD (n = 63, aged 14.8 ± 4 years) 5 h after PA administration (16.3 ± 3.8 mg/kg/day) and age-matched healthy volunteers comprised as controls (n = 30). High-resolution 800 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) and mass spectrometry was applied to reveal unambiguous appraisals of different excretory by-products of PA metabolism. Four new products comprising penicillamine disulphide (PD), penicillamine cysteine disulphide (PCD), S-methyl penicillamine (SMP), and N-acetyl penicillamine (NAP) of PA xenobiotic metabolites were identified using high-resolution NMR spectroscopy. Quantitative levels of PCD and SMP were approximately three-fold higher than those of PD and NAP, respectively. High-resolution NMR identifies the major PA metabolites with certainty. Reduction, sulfation, and methylation are the predominant pathways of PA metabolism. There is a potential application for assessing therapeutic monitoring of chelation in hepatic WD.

OBJECTIVES: Wilson disease (WD) is a rare genetic disease affecting copper metabolism and the biliary tract's copper excretion. Lifelong medication is necessary to prevent liver failure, neurological complications, and death. Although D-penicillamine (DPA), trientine, and zinc are used to treat WD, there is limited research on the long-term outcomes of these drugs, especially in children. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of DPA, trientine, and zinc in patients diagnosed with WD during childhood. METHODS: Ninety out of 92 patients were included in the analysis, excluding two patients who underwent liver transplantation without drug treatment due to an acute liver failure diagnosis. Treatment outcomes and reasons for discontinuation of therapy in 148 treatment blocks (37 DPA, 50 trientine, and 61 zinc) were analyzed using Kaplan-Meier analysis. RESULTS: The median age at diagnosis was 8.3 years. There was a statistically significant difference in drug changes due to treatment ineffectiveness among the three drugs: trientine (22/50, 44%), zinc (15/61, 25%), and DPA (2/37, 5%) (all p < 0.05). Regarding drug changes due to adverse effects, the rate was the highest for DPA, followed by zinc and trientine. There were significant differences between DPA and zinc, zinc and trientine (all p < 0.05), but no significant difference was observed between DPA and zinc (p = 0.22). CONCLUSIONS: In pediatric WD, DPA, zinc, and trientine have therapeutic effects in that order. However, DPA and zinc are associated with more adverse effects compared to trientine.

OBJECTIVE: The study aims to describe drug shortages affecting lead chelators in the United States from 2001 through 2022. METHODS: Drug shortage data were retrieved from the University of Utah Drug Information Service from January 1, 2001, through December 31, 2022. Shortages of first- and second-line lead chelators were analyzed. Drug class, formulation, administration route, shortage reason, shortage duration, generic status, single-source status, and presence of temporally overlapping shortages were examined. Total shortage months, percentages of study period on shortage, and median shortage durations were calculated. RESULTS: Thirteen lead chelator shortages were reported during the study period. Median duration was 7.4 months and the longest shortage (24.8 months) involved calcium disodium edetate. Calcium disodium edetate and dimercaprol had the greatest number of shortages, 4 each, and 61.5% of shortages involved parenteral medications. Median shortage duration was 14.2 months for parenteral agents and 2.2 months for non-parenteral agents. All shortages involved generic, single-source products. Supply/demand and manufacturing problems were the most common shortage reasons provided. Overlapping shortages occurred for 3.7% of the study period. Median shortage duration increased from 3 to 11 months in the second half of the study period, and 61.5% of shortages occurred in the second half of the study period. CONCLUSIONS: All chelators experienced multiple shortages, which became increasingly frequent and prolonged over time. Concurrent shortages occurred, potentially hampering substitution between different agents. Health care stakeholders must build supply chain resilience and develop guidelines regarding how to modify chelation therapy based on shortage conditions.

Disturbances in copper (Cu) homeostasis have been observed in diabetes and associated complications. Cu is an essential micronutrient that plays important roles in various fundamental biological processes. For example, diabetic cardiomyopathy is associated with elevated levels of Cu in the serum and tissues. Therefore, targeting Cu may be a novel treatment strategy for diabetic complications. This review provides an overview of physiological Cu metabolism and homeostasis, followed by a discussion of Cu metabolism disorders observed during the occurrence and progression of diabetic complications. Finally, we discuss the recent therapeutic advances in the use of Cu coordination complexes as treatments for diabetic complications and their potential mechanisms of action. This review contributes to a complete understanding of the role of Cu in diabetic complications and demonstrates the broad application prospects of Cu-coordinated compounds as potential therapeutic agents.

Wilson's disease (WD), or "hepato-lenticular degeneration," is a rare genetic disorder of autosomal recessive inheritance causing toxic tissue accumulation of copper, mainly in the liver, brain, and cornea. Its phenotypic and genotypic heterogeneity characterizes it. This study aimed to clarify the clinical features and spectrum of Wilson's disease in children from the eastern region of Morocco and to study the evolutionary profile and survival in this population while discussing and highlighting the various diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties encountered in the management of WD in our context. This retrospective study encompassed 24 children diagnosed with Wilson's disease, selected from the gastroenterology-hepatology and pediatric nutrition units at Mohamed VI University Hospital in Oujda, Morocco, over a span of nine years, from January 2015 to November 2023. Our series results show 14 boys and 10 girls; the median age of discovery was 11 years, with extremes ranging from 18 months to 15 years. The consanguinity was found in 13 patients. Clinically, the edemato-ascitic syndrome was noted in 14 patients with an alteration of the general state; icterus was found in 13 patients; signs of portal hypertension were present in six patients; and neurological signs in seven cases. Skin manifestations occurred in three cases, and arthralgia in three cases. Six children were diagnosed on the occasion of a family screening. Biologically, hepatic cytolysis was found in 20 patients, with signs of hepatocellular failure in 15 cases. Hemolytic anemia was present in nine patients. Ceruloplasminemia was decreased in 21 patients and cupremia in 19 patients. Cupruria was increased in 22 cases. The Kayser-Fleicher ring was found in 10 cases. Abdominal ultrasound showed ascites in 16 patients, hepatomegaly in 1, splenomegaly in two cases, hepatosplenomegaly in five cases, and cirrhosis in two. MRI showed signal abnormalities in 11 patients. Therapeutically, D-penicillamine was initially introduced in 18 patients and zinc acetate in 6 patients. The evolution was favorable for 15 patients still followed up in the department. Three patients died of hepatocellular failure, and two died of hepatic encephalopathy. Four patients were lost to follow-up.

Introduction: Wilson disease is a rare genetic disorder, characterised by excessive deposition of copper in the liver, brain, and other tissues. Penicillamine, a copper-chelating agent, is used in high doses in the treatment of Wilson disease leading to a variety of cutaneous reactions, including hyper-sensitivity reactions, pseudoxanthoma elasticum, elastosis perforans serpiginosa, anetoderma, and cutis laxa (CL). We present a rare case of localised CL induced by penicillamine for Wilson disease, in the absence of elastosis perforans serpiginosa. Case Description: A 41-year-old male with Wilson disease treated with long-term high-dose penicillamine was referred to us for a basal cell carcinoma on the scalp. On physical examination, diffusely flaccid and redundant skin on the right side of the neck were observed. Histopathology revealed findings consistent with CL. Conclusion: Long-term treatment with penicillamine for Wilson disease may induce localized CL, possibly by direct inhibition of cross-linkage of collagen fibres.

BACKGROUND: Wilson's disease (WD) is an autosomal recessive disorder in which copper (Cu) accumulates in organs, particularly in the liver and central nervous system. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence, incidence, and treatment patterns of WD patients in Korea. METHODS: National Health Insurance System (NHIS) claims data from 2010 to 2020 were analyzed. patients with WD as a primary or additional diagnosis at least once were identified using the International Classification of Diseases (ICD)-10 disease code E83.0 and a record for a registration program for rare intractable diseases in Korea. RESULTS: The average age- and sex-adjusted prevalence and incidence of WD between 2010 and 2020 were 3.06/100,000 and 0.11/100,000, respectively. The mean age of the patients with newly diagnosed WD was 21.0 ± 15.9 years. Among the 622 WD incident cases during the study period, 19.3% of the patients had liver cirrhosis and 9.2% had received liver transplantation. Psychological and neurological diseases were present in 40.7% and 48.1% of the patients, respectively. Regarding the diagnosis of WD, liver biopsy was performed in only 51.6% of new cases. D-penicillamine, trientine, or zinc were prescribed in 81.5% of the incident cases, and the treatment uptake rates decreased with increasing age. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of WD in Korea is 3.06/100,000 and approximately 1,800 patients use medical services annually. A significant proportion of patients are diagnosed at the cirrhotic stage and not treated with Cu-chelating therapeutics, suggesting the need for early diagnosis and adequate treatment to improve prognosis.

While WD typically presents with hepatic symptoms in early childhood, neuropsychiatric manifestations are more prevalent during adolescence. This case report highlights an extraordinary instance of WD in an eight-year-old girl, characterized by intricate clinical and radiological features. The patient exhibited atypical symptoms, emphasizing the importance of recognizing diverse presentations of WD. Delayed diagnosis and treatment initiation can prove fatal in WD cases, underscoring the significance of awareness regarding these unusual clinical and radiological features to facilitate prompt intervention and prevent adverse outcomes.

Background: The wing-beating tremor, characteristic of Wilson's disease (WD), is a disabling symptom that can be resistant to anti-copper and anti-tremor medications. Phenomenology Shown: This video illustrates severe bilateral wing-beating tremor, moderate head and lower limb tremors, mild cervical dystonia, and subtle cerebellar ataxia, with nearly resolution after penicillamine treatment. Educational Value: This case highlights a typical aspect of WD, emphasizing the importance of early detection and treatment, and its correlation with MRI findings. Highlights: This case highlights the typical wing-beating tremor in Wilson's disease and its correlation with the involvement of the dentato-rubro-thalamic pathway. The early diagnosis and initiation of treatment with penicillamine resulted in an excellent clinical and radiological response.

D-penicillamine (D-PA) is a sulfur-containing drug that has been used for various health conditions. However, like any medication, overdosing on D-PA can have adverse effects and may require additional treatment. Therefore, developing simple and sensitive methods for sensing D-PA can play a crucial role in improving its efficacy and reducing its side effects. Sensing technologies, such as electrochemical sensors, can enable accurate and real-time measurement of D-PA concentrations. In this work, we developed a novel electrochemical sensor for detecting D-PA by modifying a carbon paste electrode (CPE) with a multi-walled carbon nanotube-Co3O4 nanocomposite, benzoyl-ferrocene (BF), and ionic liquid (IL) (MWCNT-Co3O4/BF/ILCPE). Cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), and chronoamperometry (CHA) were employed to explore the electrochemical response of D-PA on the developed sensor, the results of which verified a commendable electrochemical performance towards D-PA. Under optimized conditions, the developed sensor demonstrated a rapid response to D-PA with a linear dynamic range of 0.05 µM-100.0 µM, a low detection limit of 0.015 µM, and a considerable sensitivity of 0.179 µA µM-1. Also, the repeatability, stability, and reproducibility of the MWCNT-Co3O4/BF/ILCPE sensor were studied and showed good characteristics. In addition, the detection of D-PA in pharmaceutical and biological matrices yielded satisfactory recoveries and relative standard deviation (RSD) values.

BACKGROUND: Copper-associated chronic hepatitis (CuCH) is poorly characterised in Cavalier King Charles spaniels (CKCS). METHODS: Hepatic copper accumulation was qualitatively and quantitatively assessed, and blood samples were used for genetic testing to screen for known CuCH-associated genetic variants. RESULTS: The study included 13 CKCS with CuCH and eight unaffected controls. Increased transaminase activities, elevated biliary enzyme concentrations and portal hypertension were documented in 100%, 73% and 38% of dogs with CuCH, respectively. Five dogs had three or more abnormalities in measures of liver function. All 11 dogs with CuCh that underwent genetic testing were homozygous negative for the COMMD1 deletion and ATP7A variant but homozygous positive (n = 7) or heterozygous (n = 4) for the ATP7B variant. Liver histology often demonstrated marked architectural distortion by severe, bridging fibrosis and regenerative nodules with lymphoplasmacytic inflammation. Centrilobular copper accumulation characterised early cases with minimal fibrosis. When fibrosis was significant, copper was often differentially concentrated within regenerative nodules. Chelation therapy resolved laboratory derangements and portal hypertension in five of seven dogs. Of the 7 non-surviving dogs with CuCH, 6 had not received chelation therapy. LIMITATIONS: Limitations include a small cohort size and the lack of pedigree analyses to corroborate heritability. CONCLUSIONS: CuCH should be considered in CKCS with suspected liver disease. Long-term prognosis seems favourable in dogs receiving chelation therapy, notwithstanding the presence of previously reported negative prognostic markers.

INTRODUCTION: Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and Toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are severe adverse drug reactions characterized by widespread blistering and mucositis. Wilson's disease is a rare, autosomal recessive disorder that results in excessive copper accumulation in the body, where penicillamine is an effective treatment option for copper chelation. Penicillamineinduced SJS-TEN is a rare but potentially fatal adverse effect. There is increased susceptibility to SJS/TEN in HIV infection due to immunosuppression and chronic liver disease due to impaired hepatic function. OBJECTIVE: To diagnose and manage the occurrence of the rare severe adverse cutaneous drug reactions in the backdrop of immunosuppression and chronic liver disease. CASE REPORT: We are reporting penicillamine-induced SJS-TEN overlap in a 30-year-old male with Wilson's disease, HIV and Hepatitis B who was treated with intravenous immunoglobulins. The patient later developed neurotrophic ulcer in the right cornea as a delayed sequela. CONCLUSION: Our case report emphasizes that there is an increased predisposition to SJS/TEN in immunocompromised and chronic liver disease patients. Physicians should be well aware of the potential danger of SJS/TEN in this subset of patients, even while prescribing a relatively safer drug.

Abstract Background Wilson disease (WD) is an autosomal recessive disorder that leads to organ toxicity due to copper overload. Early diagnosis is complicated by the rarity and diversity of manifestations. Objective To describe the diagnostic features and response to treatment in our cohort of WD patients. Methods This was a retrospective analysis of 262 WD patients stratified by clinical presentation, complementary exams, ATP7B genotyping, and response to treatment. Results Symptoms occurred at an average age of 17.4 (7-49) years, and patients were followed up for an average of 9.6 (0-45) years. Patients presented mainly with hepatic (36.3%), neurologic (34.7%), and neuropsychiatric (8.3%) forms. Other presentations were hematologic, renal, or musculoskeletal, and 16.8% of the patients were asymptomatic. Kayser-Fleischer rings occurred in 78.3% of the patients, hypoceruloplasminemia in 98.3%, and elevated cupruria/24h in 73.0%, with an increase after D-penicillamine in 54.0%. Mutations of the ATP7B gene were detected in 84.4% of alleles. Brain magnetic resonance imaging showed abnormalities in the basal ganglia in 77.7% of patients. D-penicillamine was the first choice in 93.6% of the 245 patients, and 21.1% of these patients were switched due to adverse effects. The second-line therapies were zinc and trientine. The therapeutic response did not differ significantly between the drugs (p= 0.2). Nine patients underwent liver transplantation and 82 died. Conclusion Wilson disease is diagnosed at a late stage, and therapeutic options are limited. In people under 40 years of age with compatible manifestations, WD could be considered earlier in the differential diagnosis. There is a need to include ATP7B genotyping and therapeutic alternatives in clinical practice.

O diagnóstico precoce é dificultado pela raridade e diversidade de apresentações. Objetivo Descrever características ao diagnóstico e resposta ao tratamento em uma coorte de DW. Métodos Análise retrospectiva de 262 casos de DW quanto à apresentação clínica, exames complementares, genotipagem e resposta ao tratamento. Resultados Os sintomas surgiram em uma média aos 17,4 (7-49) anos, e os pacientes foram acompanhados por uma média de 9,6 (0-45) anos. Os pacientes apresentaram principalmente formas hepáticas (36,3%), neurológicas (34,7%) e neuropsiquiátricas (8,3%). Outras apresentações foram hematológicas, renais e musculoesqueléticas. Apenas 16,8% eram assintomáticos. Anéis de Kayser-Fleischer ocorreram em 78,3% dos pacientes, hipoceruloplasminemia em 98,3%, e cuprúria elevada/24h em 73,0%, com aumento após D-penicilamina em 54,0%. Mutações do gene ATP7B foram detectadas em 84,4% dos alelos pesquisados. A ressonância magnética cerebral mostrou alterações em gânglios da base em 77,7% dos pacientes. O tratamento com D-penicilamina foi a escolha inicial em 93,6% dos 245 casos e foi trocado em 21,1% devido a efeitos adversos. Terapias de segunda linha foram zinco e trientina. A resposta terapêutica não diferiu significativamente entre os medicamentos (p= 0,2). Nove pacientes receberam transplante hepático e 82 faleceram. Conclusão O diagnóstico da DW ainda ocorre em estágios tardios, e as opções terapêuticas são limitadas. A DW deve ser considerada precocemente no diagnóstico diferencial de pessoas com menos de 40 anos com manifestações compatíveis. É necessário incorporar na prática clínica a genotipagem do ATP7B e alternativas terapêuticas à penicilamina.

Wilson disease is an autosomal recessive disorder affecting the ATP7B gene located on chromosome 13q. This leads to copper deposition in various organs, most importantly in the liver and brain. The genetic mutations are vast, well reported in the West but poorly documented in developing countries. Hence the diagnosis is made with a constellation of clinico-laboratory parameters which have significant overlap with other liver diseases and often pose a significant dilemma for clinicians. Diagnostic scoring systems are not fool-proof. The availability and affordability of chelators in developing countries impact the drug compliance of patients. While D-penicillamine is a potent drug, its side effects lead to drug discontinuation. Trientine is cost-prohibitive in developing countries. There is no single test to assess the adequacy of chelation. Exchangeable urinary copper is an essential upcoming diagnostic and prognostic tool. In the presence of cirrhosis, hypersplenism clouds the assessment of myelosuppression of drugs. Similarly, it may be difficult to distinguish disease tubulopathy from drug-induced glomerulonephritis. Neurological worsening due to chelators may appear similar to disease progression. Presentation as fulminant hepatic failure requires rapid workup. There is a limited window of opportunity to salvage these patients with the help of plasmapheresis and other liver-assisted devices. This review addresses the challenges and clinical dilemmas faced at beside in developing countries.

BCL2, an antiapoptotic protein, is overexpressed in many cancers, making it a good cancer treatment target. In 30 years, few BCL2 targeting agents have shown clinical significance. This work designed new amide thiazolidine derived from isoniazid targeting BCL2 and tested them on cancer cell lines, for binding affinities, the novel candidates were docked to the BCL2 target receptor. IC50 of compound A8 46.67 ± 0.9 and 57.14 ± 0.88 µg/ml against PC3 and HEPG2 respectively with docking score -7.6 Kcal/mol with 6GL8 make it the best compound in this series. Melting point, FT-IR, elemental microanalysis (CHN), 1HNMR, and 13CNMR confirmed chemical structures.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Sarma.

Wilson's disease (WD) is a genetic disorder with copper accumulation in various tissues leading to related clinical symptoms (mainly hepatic and neuropsychiatric) which can be in 85% of patients successfully treated with anti-copper agents. However, during WD treatment neurological deterioration may occur in several patients. D-penicillamine (DPA) is one of the most frequently used drugs in WD treatment. Despite its efficacy, DPA can produce many adverse drug reactions, which should be recognized early. We present the case of a 51-year-old man diagnosed with the hepatic form of WD and initially treated with DPA in whom after 15 months of treatment, diplopia and evening ptosis occurred. WD treatment non-compliance as well as overtreatment were excluded. Supported by neurological symptoms, a positive edrophonium test, and high serum levels of antibodies against acetylcholine receptors (AChR-Abs), as well as low concentrations of antibodies against muscle-specific kinase (MuSK-Abs), the diagnosis of myasthenia gravis (MG), induced by DPA, was established. DPA was stopped; zinc sulfate for WD and pyridostigmine for MG symptoms were introduced. Diplopia and ptosis subsided after a few days, which supported our diagnosis. During a follow-up visit after 6 months, the patient did not present any MG symptoms. AChR-Abs level gradually decreased and MuSK-Abs were no longer detected. Pyridostigmine was stopped, and within 9 months of follow-up, the neurological symptoms of MG did not reoccur. The authors discussed the patient's neurological deterioration, performed a systematic review of DPA-induced MG in WD and concluded that MG is a rare and usually reversible complication of DPA treatment. DPA-induced MG generally occurs 2-12 months after treatment initiation and ocular symptoms predominate. Response to pyridostigmine treatment is good and MG symptoms usually reverse within one year after DPA treatment cessation. However, symptoms may persist in some cases where DPA treatment is only a trigger factor for MG occurrence.

A systematic review was carried out on a rare dermatological condition affecting papillary dermal tissue fibers of the skin known as elastosis perforans serpiginosa (EPS). The aim of this review was to highlight this skin disease, its association with other medical conditions, and its management. The search was conducted by using the keywords "elastosis perforans serpiginosa" and "case reports" in the databases. A total of 10 case reports were analyzed and presented by the parameters like age, gender, chief complaints, and medical history. The most common causes of EPS were drug-induced and occurred along with the Wilson disease. The study concluded that as EPS is an uncommon disease with few instances, there is a need for further research to analyze randomized controlled trials that have been conducted in relation to the condition.

Kidney injury due to medications is a well-known clinical entity. Although drug-induced tubulointerstitial disease is commonly encountered, there are few reports in the literature associated with glomerular injury due to medications. The recognition of this type of kidney injury is crucial, as rapid discontinuation of the offending agent is critical to maximizing the likelihood of quick and effective renal function recovery. In this article, we present four cases that presented with nephrotic syndrome and were diagnosed with biopsy-proven podocytopathies, associated with exposure to a certain medication. All of them experienced complete resolution of nephrotic syndrome within days or weeks after discontinuation of the offending drug. We also present the data, which were found in a Medline search from the year 1963 until the present, regarding cases with podocytopathies associated with penicillamine, tamoxifen and the combination of pembrolizumab-axitinib, including only adult cases from the English literature. The Medline search revealed nineteen cases of penicillamine-induced minimal-change disease (MCD), one case of tamoxifen-induced MCD, and none associated with pembrolizumab-axitinib therapy. We also searched for the largest studies and meta-analyses regarding drug-induced podocytopathies after a Medline search from 1967 to the present of the English literature.
