RESUMEN

Tuberculosis (TB) is a common cause of pleural effusion in young people from endemic areas. Among the forms of extrapulmonary TB in people with immunodeficiencies, the most frequent localization is the pleura. The use of immunological and molecular biology tests for the diagnosis of TB in pleural fluid and other locations with high sensitivity and specificity is highlighted.
