RESUMEN

The precise identification and differentiation of peri-implant diseases, without the need for intrusive procedures, is crucial for the successful clinical treatment and overall durability of dental implants. This work introduces a novel approach that combines surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy with advanced chemometrics to analyse peri-implant crevicular fluid (PICF) samples. The primary purpose is to offer an unbiased evaluation of implant health. A detailed investigation was performed on PICF samples obtained from a cohort of patients exhibiting different levels of peri-implant health, including those with healthy implants, implants impacted by peri-implantitis, and implants with peri-implant mucositis. The obtained SERS spectra were analysed using canonical-powered partial least squares (CPPLS) to identify unique chemical characteristics associated with each inflammatory state. Significantly, our research findings unveil the presence of a common inflammatory SERS spectral pattern in cases of peri-implantitis and peri-implant mucositis. Furthermore, the SERS-based scores obtained from CPPLS were combined with established clinical scores and subjected to a linear discriminant analysis (LDA) classifier. Repeated double cross-validation was used to validate the method's capacity to discriminate different implant conditions. The integrated approach showcased high sensitivity and specificity and an overall balanced accuracy of 92%, demonstrating its potential to serve as a non-invasive diagnostic tool for real-time implant monitoring and early detection of inflammatory conditions.

OBJECTIVES: Few studies used thermal quantitative sensory testing to assess the effects of repeated capsaicin gel administration in the oral cavity. This study aimed to investigate thermal sensory and pain thresholds before and after repeated capsaicin gel administration. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Ten healthy females (22 ± 2 years) applied a capsaicin gel on the gingival mucosa twice daily for 14 days, and heat pain threshold, warm detection threshold, cold pain threshold, and cold detection threshold were assessed on the oral mucosa. Measurements were performed before and after the 14 days and were compared to a control sample (n = 10, all females, 23 ± 3 years). RESULTS: Capsaicin increased heat pain threshold in the anterior maxilla by 2.9°C (95% CI: 1.6-4.2) (p < 0.001) and in the anterior mandible by 2.2°C (95% CI: 1.0-3.4) (p = 0.001), similar to warm detection threshold that increased by Δ1.1°C (95% CI: 0.3-1.9) (p = 0.009). No significant changes were found in the controls. CONCLUSIONS: These findings encourage the use of thermal quantitative sensory testing in the oral cavity to assess thermal sensation, which might be useful for assessing the effects of therapies aimed at reducing pain.

OBJECTIVES: This study investigates the psychological impact of COVID-19 on burning mouth syndrome (BMS) patients. It focuses on comparing post-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS), post-traumatic growth (PTG), and resilience between BMS patients and Controls. METHODS: A total of 100 BMS patients and 100 Controls from five Italian centers participated in this observational cross-sectional study. They completed several assessments, including the General Health Questionnaire, Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale, Insomnia Severity Index, National Stressful Events Survey Short Scale, Impact of Event Scale-Revised, Post Traumatic Growth Inventory Short Form, and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale. RESULTS: BMS patients had significantly higher stress, anxiety, and depression (DASS-21 score) and post-traumatic stress symptoms (IES-R-6 score), particularly in terms of intrusive thoughts. They showed lower post-traumatic growth (PTGI-SF score) compared to Controls. The resilience scale (CDRS-10) was a key predictor of PTG in both groups, explaining a significant variance in PTGI-SF scores. CONCLUSIONS: BMS patients experienced heightened post-traumatic stress, stress, anxiety, and depression during the COVID-19 pandemic, with reduced post-traumatic growth. This highlights the need to prioritize their psychological well-being, focusing on stress management and fostering post-traumatic growth in challenging times.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to identify the presence, timing, and magnitude of a prepubertal mandibular growth spurt in a Class I and Class II population. METHODS: From the Burlington and Iowa Growth study of the AAOF Craniofacial Growth Legacy Collection, 83 Class I subjects (37 females and 46 males) and 32 Class II subjects (18 males and 14 females) were identified, as having at least seven consecutive annual lateral cephalograms taken from 5 to 11 years of age. Only subjects with a normodivergent facial pattern were considered. A customized cephalometric analysis was performed, and total mandibular length, defined as the distance between Condylion (Co) and Gnathion (Gn), was calculated. RESULTS: Overall, a significant early peak of mandibular growth was present in all the subjects analysed both in Class I (4.69 mm for males and 4.18 mm for females; P < .05) and in Class II (5.85 mm for males and 4.05 mm for females; P < .05). No differences between males and females were found for the timing of this peak (7 years for Class I and Class II females and 7 years for Class I and 6.5 years for Class II males). In males, a significantly larger peak was observed in Class II than Class I subjects (P = .007). LIMITATIONS: The main limitations of this study were the impossibility of using a suitable growth indicator to identify the timing of the early mandibular growth peak and the limited Class II records retrievable. CONCLUSION: This investigation suggests that a prepubertal mandibular growth peak is consistently present in both Class I and Class II males and females of clinically significant magnitude. Despite that, chronological age confirms to be unsuitable to identify this peak.

The present study aims to assess the feasibility of implant rehabilitation in kidney-transplanted patients. Patients with kidney transplantation included in periodontal supportive care and at least one year of dialysis with mono- or partial edentulism were eligible for this study. Histomorphometric evaluation of the harvested bone was matched with radiological bone assessment. Implant stability was also monitored with RFA and ITV. Fixed cemented prostheses have been delivered after conventional loading protocol. Supportive periodontal therapy has been administered. Eleven patients (9 males and 2 females) were included. The mean age was 58.1 ± 9.9 years. A total of 17 implants were inserted and analyzed. Mean ITV was 39.3 ± 23.8 Ncm. The mean primary stability (ISQ) at T0 was 71.7 ± 10.5, whereas the mean secondary stability at T1 was 73.0 ± 7.3. The minimum follow-up was 62 months, with a maximum of 84 months (7 years) reached by four patients. Fourteen out of 15 implants were in function at a 5-year follow-up (survival rate 93.3%). Two implants showed peri-implantitis. Seventeen bone samples were collected (13 in the mandible and 4 in the maxilla). The mean percentage of marrow spaces and lamellar bone was 41.6% and 58.4%, respectively. Class 3, according to Misch classification, was found as the mean value of radiological bone density. It can be concluded that implant-supported rehabilitation in kidney-transplanted patients is possible. Adequate periodontal maintenance allows implant rehabilitation in kidney transplanted patients with long-term sufficient survival rates.

BACKGROUND: Radiomorphometric indices measured on Dental Panoramic Radiography (DPR) can reflect Bone Mineral Density (BMD). The aim of our study is to evaluate changes in DPR radiographic markers in patients undergoing antiresorptive therapy with denosumab and correlate them to BMD and serum bone turnover markers (BTM). METHODS: We evaluated two radiomorphometric indices: Mandibular Cortical Width (MCW) and Panoramic Mandibular Index (PMI), in patients undergoing antiresorptive therapy with denosumab at T0 (before starting the therapy) and at T1 (after 12 months), comparing results with a control group of healthy patients who performed two DPRs at a one-year time distance. Correlation analysis was performed in the denosumab group, as well as ROC curves were obtained for both indices. RESULTS: The study included 18 patients and 21 controls according to specific inclusion and exclusion criteria, matched by gender and age. Both MCW and PMI were significantly lower at T0 in the denosumab group, consistently with lower BMD. MCW showed significant correlation with femoral and lumbar DEXA and was significantly lower in patients with osteoporosis compared to osteopenia. Only PMI index increased significantly in the denosumab group from T0 to T1. After one year (T1), there weren't any differences between patients and controls for both indices. No significant correlations were found with BTMs. Sensitivity and specificity for MCW and PMI were also calculated. CONCLUSIONS: Our results show how CMW shows sufficient sensitivity and specificity to be used as a radiographic marker to screen and intercept patients with osteoporosis. PMI seems to be able to reflect changes in response to antiresorptive therapy with denosumab. Further studies are needed to confirm our hypothesis.

Chronic diffuse sclerosing osteomyelitis is a very rare condition, described as a non-suppurative, inflammatory disease of the bone and characterized by a proliferative endosteal reaction, which clinically reveals itself with cyclic pain of the jaw and swelling. We reported two clinical cases, where patients suffered recurrent swelling and pain at the mandible irradiating to the preauricular area, denying any previous trauma or significant medical history. Odontogenic causes were excluded. An initial treatment with antibiotics and NSAIDs temporarily relieved the symptoms without complete resolution, prompting further investigations. After a comprehensive array of diagnostic tools (X-rays, CT scans, scintigraphy, bone biopsy, serum markers), both patients were diagnosed with chronic diffuse sclerosing osteomyelitis of the mandible. Bisphosphonates (clodronate and zolendronate) with different treatment schemes were used to treat the condition, until a full recovery from symptoms was reported. Bisphosphonates could therefore represent an effective option in managing this rare but impactful condition. Further research is warranted to better understand the underlying mechanisms of the disease and to optimize treatment strategies.

Background and Objectives: Special Needs Patients (SNPs) and young non-collaborative children are more predisposed to develop oral pathologies due to poor collaboration and scarce access to dental treatment. The aim of this retrospective study was to analyze a sample of SNPs who received dental treatments either under general anesthesia (GA) or deep sedation (DS) over a period of 6 years. The number and type of procedure were analyzed. Materials and Methods: In total, 131 patients were included and mostly (>90%) treated under GA. Patients were either uncooperative and phobic (Group 1) or affected by mental, behavioral, and neurological disorders (Group 2), diseases of the nervous system (Group 3), or developmental anomalies (Group 4). Results: Patients in Group 2 required more invasive dental treatments than those in the other groups. Therapies were mainly preventive and restorative, except in Groups 3 and 4, where extractions were more frequent. The type of dental treatment significantly varied according to age and systemic condition. Only 5.3% of the patients needed a second intervention, despite only 17.6% of patients respecting the scheduled follow-up. Conclusions: Treatment under GA is effective, but the poor adherence to follow-ups and the risk of reintervention should be contrasted by improving the perception by parents/guardians of the importance of oral hygiene and periodic visits.

Periodontitis is a common inflammatory disease characterized by a complex etiology, which is the result of a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Genetic variants linked to the periodontitis disease were already investigated, however, little was known regarding the severity of this disease. Recently, long runs of homozygosity (ROH) were associated with several multifactorial diseases. Therefore, in our work, we tried to assess the role of ROH and periodontitis status. We found an association between the excess of homozygosity owing to ROH and staging of periodontitis. More in detail, the total amount of homozygosity owing to ROH is positively associated with an increased severity of periodontitis (P = 0.0001). Regression tree analysis showed the impact of ROH burden in discriminating individuals with mild periodontitis stages I and II and periodontitis stages III and IV (P < 0.001). Furthermore, ROH mapping highlights several regions associated with a severe status of periodontitis (odds ratio > 1). Among them, we found a total of 33 genes. Interestingly, some of these genes were previously associated with granulocyte or platelet measures, both linked to the onset and the progression of periodontal disease. Our results suggest the not only single variants association test could help to risk assessment but even individual genomic features; furthermore, our ROH mapping highlighted the possible role of multiple genes in periodontal development.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this clinical observational study was to assess the efficacy of L-PRF as a hemostatic agent in patients under treatment with vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) or direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Patients under oral anticoagulant therapy (VKA or DOACs) who needed a single simple tooth extraction were enrolled. L-PRF plug was positioned inside the alveolus and secured with non-absorbable sutures. Surgical time, pain-VAS, paracetamol intake, intra-operative, post-operative biological complications, and bleeding events have been registered. RESULTS: A total of 112 patients (59 patients for DOAC and 53 for VKA group) were enrolled. Post-operative bleeding was recorded in nine patients (17%) for VKA group and nine patients (15.3%) for DOACs group. None of the patients needed a medical support for managing of bleeding. Seven days after surgery, no cases of post-extractive complications occurred. CONCLUSIONS: The use of L-PRF resulted in limited mild late post-operative bleedings without the need of medical intervention. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: The use of L-PRF can be adopted for an uneventful post-operative curse in anticoagulated patients without chasing their therapy for single tooth extraction.

Gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) is an interesting biofluid reflecting the physiological and pathological states of a single dental element. Due to this unique feature, in recent years, metabolomic analysis of GCF has gained attention as a biometric tool for the diagnosis and therapy of periodontal disease. Traditional methods are, however, too slow, cumbersome and expensive for a health-care routine. Surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) can offer rapid and label-free detailed molecular fingerprints that can be used for biofluid analysis. Here we report the first SERS characterization of GCF using an easy and quick sample preparation. The dominant features in the SERS spectrum of GCF are ascribed to very few metabolites, in particular to uric acid, hypoxanthine, glutathione and ergothioneine. Additionally, we succeeded in differentiating between the SERS signal of GCF collected from healthy volunteers and the one collected from patients with periodontal disease.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: The dimensional stability of alginate dental impressions is a key factor for the reliability of delayed gypsum pouring and digital scanning. However, studies of the dimensional stability of alginates with conventional methods that consider the dimensional variations of large impressions are lacking. PURPOSE: The purpose of this in vitro study was to investigate and compare 2 digital methods for the analysis of dimensional stability of large impressions made with 5 different extended-pour alginates and to assess dimensional stability up to 5 days. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Impressions of a simplified master maxillary model were made with Alginoplast, Blueprint, Hydrogum 5, Orthoprint, and Phase Plus and then analyzed at different time points. Digital scans of the alginate impression surfaces were obtained with a desktop scanner and analyzed by evaluating the linear measurements between reference points and by using a novel method that consists of the analysis of the entire scanned surface to evaluate the expansion and contraction of the impressions. RESULTS: The first method revealed that the dimensional changes did not exceed 0.5%, with the exception of Phase Plus at day 3 (-0.6 ±0.7%), and the average dimensional variation was always lower than or equal to 0.2 mm. Blueprint was the most stable material (-0.2 ±0.6%). The second method revealed dimensional variations always lower than 0.03 mm and confirmed Blueprint as the best performing material (0.001 ±0.006 mm) and Phase Plus the worst (-0.019 ±0.006 mm). CONCLUSIONS: Both the methods used to evaluate alginate stability showed that the analyzed materials remain stable over time; the dimensional variations showed a similar trend, with differences in the absolute values depending on the applied method. Linear measurements are affected by the operator and choice of reference points; however, by evaluating the average variations of the entire structure surfaces, local variations should be minimized. The evaluation of the average variations with the second method offers the advantage of a rapid visual representation of these variations.

Objectives To evaluate the level of knowledge of pregnant women and puerpers about oral health and prevention during and after gestation. Methods One hundred women aged 18-49 years (mean age 33±6 years) were included in this cross-sectional study. An anonymous questionnaire with 24 items related to oral health has been administered during or just after pregnancy. Firstly, answers have been analyzed on the full population and then subdividing the sample on the base of age ranges (G1: 18-25 years, G2: 26-35 years and G3: >35 years) and number of pregnancies (FP: first pregnancy; SP: second or more pregnancies). Parametric tests have been chosen for the statistical analysis; in particular, Anova test for independent samples was used to evaluate differences of baseline demographic characteristics among subgroups G1, G2, G3 while chi-square test was used for FP and SP subgroups. Anova test was also used to intercept differences on answers given to the questionnaire among G1, G2 and G3 group; for FP and SP group was used t-test. Results Level of information and knowledge of the full sample was medium-low and no significant differences have been observed between groups regarding awareness of the own level of the oral hygiene and knowledge of oral care. Conclusions Results of this survey underline the high necessity of educational programs regarding oral care in pregnant and puerpers women. A strict collaboration between medical figures (dentist, oral hygienist, gynecologist and obstetric) is strongly encouraged to spread the concept of prevention.

The aim of the present study was to characterize nanohybrid and nanofilled composites in terms of degree of conversion (DC), rate of cure (RC), microhardness (Vickers hardness number; VHN), depth of cure, and contraction stress (CS). Ceram.X® universal- A3, duo enamel E2, and duo dentin D3 composites were compared to Tetric EvoCeram® and FiltekTMSupreme XTE composites of equivalent dentin and enamel shades under a 40 s photopolymerization protocol. DC was measured by infrared spectroscopy, calculating RC from the kinetic curve. Top and bottom VHN were determined using a Vickers indenter, and bottom/top surface ratio (Vickers hardness ratio; VHR) calculated. CS vs. time was assessed by a universal testing machine and normalized for the specimen bonding area. All materials showed DC < 60%, Ceram.X® composites reaching higher values than the other composites of corresponding shades. RC at 5 s of photopolymerization was always higher than that at 10 s. All the Ceram.X® composites and the lighter-shaded Tetric EvoCeram® and FiltekTMSupreme XTE composites reached the RC plateau after 25 s, the remaining materials showed a slower kinetic trend. Tetric EvoCeram® and FiltekTMSupreme XTE composites displayed the softest and the hardest surfaces, respectively. Differently from darker-shaded materials, the universal and the three enamel-shaded composites resulted optimally cured (VHR > 80%). The tested composites differed in CS both during and after light cure, Tetric EvoCeram® and FiltekTMSupreme XTE composites displaying the highest and the lowest CS, respectively. Only the Ceram.X® universal-A3 reached a CS plateau value. The tested composites exhibited material-dependent chemo-mechanical properties. Increasing the curing time and/or reducing the composite layer thickness for dentin-shaded composites appears advisable.

The high number of marginal mandibular nerve (MMN) anatomical variants have a well-known clinical significance due to the risk of nerve injury in several surgical procedures. The aim of this study was to find and systematize the available anatomical data concerning this nerve. The PubMed and Scopus databases were investigated in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses guidelines. All studies reporting extractable data on the origin, course, splitting, anastomosis and relationship of the MMN with the mandible or the facial vessels were included. We included 28 studies analyzing 1861 halves. The MMN had one (PP = 35% 95% CI:18-54%), two (PP =35% 95% CI:18-54%), three (PP = 18% 95% CI:0-35%), or four branches (PP = 2% 95% CI:0-8%). Anastomosis with the great auricular nerve, transverse cervical nerve, mental nerve, and other branches of the facial nerve were defined. The origin of the MMN in relation to the parotid and the mandible was variable. The MMN nearly always crossed the anterior facial vein laterally (PP = 38% 95% CI:9-72% if single, PP = 57% 95% CI:22-90% when multiple); its relation with other vessels was less constant. At least one branch of the MMN was found below the inferior border of the mandible (IBM), with a PP of 39% (95% CI:30-50%). The MMN has high anatomical variability and it is more often represented by one or two branches; its origin is frequently described at the parotid apex and above the IBM, although in its course at least one branch often runs below the IBM. BACKGROUND: Periodontitis is a common oral disease caused by host inflammatory response towards bacteria biofilm. The chronic activation of immune response leads to destruction of teeth supporting tissue, bone loss and tooth detachment. Different factors could be involved in the development and severity of the disease; among them the host genetic background should be considered. OBJECTIVES: In our study, we analysed haploblocks in a genomic region within major histocompatibility complex (MHC) locus aimed at disclosing a possible correlation with the risk of periodontal disease in 602 adult subjects from North-East Italy. RESULTS: The CTTAC haploblock (formed by LTA-rs2857709, LTA-rs2844484, LTA- rs2229094, LTA-rs2229092 and LTA-rs1041981 polymorphisms) correlated with protection towards periodontitis condition, after regression analysis including age and smoking status as covariates (P-value = 0.015). CONCLUSION: Our results suggest that a haplotype within LTA gene (encoding for lymphotoxin alpha) is involved in the susceptibility towards chronic periodontitis.

OBJECTIVES: This preliminary randomized double-blind controlled trial was performed to test the efficacy of ultramicronized palmitoylethanolamide treatment in the burning mouth syndrome. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Patients with referred burning mouth intensity greater than 4, according to the Numeric Rating Scale, were included in the study according to established inclusion and exclusion criteria. Patients were randomized into two groups and received either placebo or ultramicronized palmitoylethanolamide 600 mg twice daily for 60 days. Patients were assessed at baseline, 30 and 60 days after treatment start, and 4 months after treatment discontinuation. In order to evaluate the change in the burning mouth sensation over time, the generalized linear mixed model was employed. RESULTS: A total of 35 patients were considered eligible, among which 6 withdrew prior to the end of treatment. A statistically significant reduction of burning mouth sensation (p < 0.0132) was registered at the end of the active treatment in the ultramicronized palmitoylethanolamide group compared to the placebo one. Any side effect related to the active treatment was neither observed nor reported both by patients and by physicians. CONCLUSIONS: The significant decrease of burning sensation in the ultramicronized palmitoylethanolamide group compared to the placebo group suggests to consider this naturally occurring molecule as a viable therapy in the management of burning mouth syndrome. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: The use of an effective compound to manage the burning mouth syndrome, devoid of adverse effects for the patient and that does not interfere with other pharmacological therapies, could find wide employability from clinicians.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this prospective comparative clinical study was to evaluate the effect of oral anticoagulants on peri- and post-operative bleeding during simple single tooth extractions, comparing patients in treatment with vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) and patients assuming direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Patients under oral anticoagulant therapy needing dental extraction were eligible for entering the study; patients were enrolled following inclusion and exclusion criteria and divided into VKAs and DOAC group according to the anticoagulation therapy. Included patients underwent a simple single dental extraction with elevators and forceps with a maximum surgical time of 15 minutes, without anticoagulation therapy discontinuation. All participants were assessed pre-operatively, during surgery, 30 min minutes and 7 days after surgery. Biological complications were registered and post-extraction bleeding was clinically defined according to Iwabuchi classification. Parametric and non-parametric tests were used to evaluate the variables between the groups. RESULTS: Sixty-five patients per group were enrolled and 130 teeth were extracted. The two groups were comparable for pre-, peri-, and post-operative variables. Only 1 patient of DOAC group and 2 patients for VKA group needed medical evaluation for post-extractive bleeding. No statistically significant difference resulted in post-operative bleeding events between the groups (p = 0.425). CONCLUSIONS: DOAC and VKA patients showed the same incidence of bleeding complications after simple single tooth extraction. Bleeding events were not statistically significant and not clinically relevant. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Patients assuming DOACs can be treated similarly to patients in VKAs therapy with INR index between 2 and 3. Non-ceasing of DOAC therapy seems to be appropriate for simple single dental extractions.

Oral Lichen Planus (OLP) is an oral inflammatory condition, mediated by host immune system reaction, presenting basal membrane damages with inflammatory lesions in the mouth and/or skin. In this study, the role of functional polymorphisms in the MBL2 gene, encoding for Mannose-Binding Protein C (MBP-C), a member of the innate immune response and an acute-phase protein able to activate the complement cascade, was investigated to assess a possible association with OLP susceptibility in Italian patients. Two variations at the promoter region (called H/L and X/Y) and three at the first exon (at codon 52, 54, and 57) of the MBL2 gene were analyzed in 69 OLP patients and 244 healthy controls from northeastern Italy. Considering the polymorphisms singularly, the MBL2 X allele and C/T genotype of the D allele (correlated with low MBP-C expression) were associated with susceptibility to develop OLP. Moreover, when taking into account MBL2 combined genotypes, more OLP patients were deficient MBP-C producers than not deficient, who were more represented among healthy controls. MBL2 combined genotypes, responsible for deficient MBP-C production, are associated with an increased risk of developing OLP.

The primary objective of the present in vitro study was to evaluate the influence of implant site preparation technique (drills vs ultrasonic instrumentation) on the primary stability of short dental implants with two different designs inserted in simulated low-quality cancellous bone. Eighty implant sites were prepared in custom-made solid rigid polyurethane blocks with two different low cancellous bone densities (5 or 15 pounds per cubic foot [PCF]), equally distributed between piezoelectric (Surgysonic Moto, Esacrom, Italy) and conventional drilling techniques. Two short implant systems (Prama and Syra, Sweden & Martina) were tested by inserting 40 fixtures of each system (both 6.0 mm length and 5.0 mm diameter), divided in the four subgroups (drills/5 PCF density; drills/15 PCF density; piezo/5 PCF density; piezo/15 PCF density). Insertion torque (Ncm), implant stability quotient values, removal torque (Ncm), and surgical time were recorded. Data were analyzed by 3-way ANOVA and Scheffé's test (α = 0.05). With slight variations among the considered dependent variables, overall high primary implant stability was observed across all subgroups. Piezoelectric instrumentation allowed for comparable or slightly superior primary stability in comparison with the drilling procedures in both implant systems. The Prama implants group showed the highest mean reverse torque and Syra implants the highest implant stability quotient values. Piezoelectric implant site preparation took prolonged operative time compared to conventional preparation with drills; among the drilling procedures, Syra system required fewer surgical steps and shorter operative time.
