RESUMEN

While lasers have found their successful applications in various clinical specialties, in clinical dental practice, traditional mechanical drills are still predominantly utilized. Although erbium-doped lasers have been demonstrated for dental therapy, their clinical performance is still not satisfactory due to the long pulse width, low peak power, and small repetition rate. To attain a smaller thermal diffusion thus better biological safety and surgical precision, as well as more rapid ablation, the advancement of femtosecond laser techniques has opened another route of dental surgery; however, no biological safety investigation has been reported. Here, we present a systematic study of dental ablation by a Yb:CaAlGdO4 regenerative amplifier with a central wavelength of 1040 nm and pulse width of 160 fs. The in vivo experiment of dental surgery investigating the inflammatory response has been reported, for the first time to the best of our knowledge. It is demonstrated that dental surgery by Yb:CaAlGdO4 femtosecond laser ablation has better biological safety compared to the turbine drilling, thanks to its non-contact and ultrafast heat dissipation nature.

AIMS: As one of the mainstays of breast cancer therapy, chemotherapy inevitably induces neutropenia. In this study, we explored the role of PEG-rhG-CSF (pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor) in the emergency treatment of chemotherapy-induced grades 3-4 neutropenia. METHODS: A total of 100 patients with breast cancer were randomized (1:1) into the study. Fifty patients randomized to the experimental group were treated with PEG-rhG-CSF after grades 3-4 neutropenia following the first cycle of chemotherapy, while 50 patients randomized to the control group received a daily injection of rhG-CSF (recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor). The primary endpoint was the recovery time of grades 3-4 neutropenia. RESULTS: Compared with patients in the control group, the mean ± SD recovery time of grades 3-4 neutropenia and febrile neutropenia (FN) was significantly shorter for patients in the experimental group (grades 3-4, P = .000; grade 4, P = .000; FN, P = .038). There is no significant difference in the incidence of FN for the two groups. In the experimental group, the duration of grades 3-4 neutropenia in patients aged <60 years and ≥60 years was 2.15 and 3.20 days, respectively (P = .037). Adverse events (AEs) of any grade were reported in 37 (75.5%) and 28 (59.6%) patients from the two groups, respectively. No grade ≥3 AEs were reported. CONCLUSION: This study supported that the PEG-rhG-CSF was more effective and convenient than rhG-CSF for treating grades 3-4 neutropenia and FN in patients with breast cancer and had manageable toxicity.

BACKGROUND & PURPOSE: Accurate radiographic assessment of secondary alveolar bone grafting (SABG) is critical in evaluating SABG outcomes in patients with cleft lip and palate. This study compared Periapical (PA) and Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) grading of SABG outcomes and conducted an analysis of agreement rate between the two imaging modalities. METHODS: A retrospective chart review was performed of patients who underwent secondary alveolar bone grafting at a single institution. Bone quality of the alveolar cleft site was assessed at three root levels of the adjacent teeth on PA and CBCT images. RESULTS: 48 patients had pre- or post-operative images with both CBCT and PA that were appropriate for comparison. A total of 174 alveolar bone sections (three root levels of adjacent teeth in 58 pairs) were graded on CBCT and PA images. Agreement of CBCT grading with PA grading was 41.3% (72/174) overall. CBCT assessments rated bone quality lower than PA grading in 51.2% (89/174) of sections. CBCT had higher grading than PA image grading in 7.5% (13/174) of sections. The weighted Cohen Kappa value for comparison of CBCT and PA readings was 0.17, indicating a low rate of agreement. Wilcoxon signed rank test demonstrated that the difference between grading on CBCT and PA assessments was statistically significant (P < .001). CONCLUSIONS: CBCT and PA readings demonstrated an overall low rate of agreement in the assessment of cleft alveolar bone. This investigation suggests that PA radiographs have lower sensitivity in detecting poor bone grafting outcomes.

Pollution of phenolic effluent from spice and plastics factories has become increasingly serious. Thus, developing a green and highly efficient adsorbent to remove phenolic compounds from wastewater is of urgent need. In this study, cellulose graft copolymer was synthesized through grafting 4-vinylpyridine monomer and polyethylene glycol methacrylate to a molecular skeleton of cellulose by free radical polymerization. The supramolecular hydrogel was successfully synthesized by physical cross-linking of cellulose graft copolymer and α-cyclodextrin. These supramolecular hydrogels were thoroughly characterized and the adsorption performance (adsorption isotherms and adsorption kinetics) of phenol on the supramolecular hydrogel were investigated in batch operation. The supramolecular hydrogel not only exhibited excellent adsorption of phenol, but also demonstrated increased mechanical strength due to the introduction of a modified cellulose base material. The adsorption kinetics of phenol on the supramolecular hydrogel followed a quasi-second-order reaction, with a correlation coefficient of 0.9909. The adsorption isotherm conformed to the Langmuir adsorption isotherm, and the maximum adsorption capacity of phenol can reach 80.71 mg g-1, which was 2-3 times higher than traditional carbon-based materials. The results demonstrate the great promise of the waste-derived supramolecular hydrogel to be used as an efficient adsorbent in wastewater treatment.

Degradable hemostatic materials have unique advantages in reducing the amount of bleeding, shortening the surgical operation time, and improving patient prognosis. However, none of the current hemostatic materials are ideal and have disadvantages. Therefore, a novel biodegradable cellulose-based composite hemostatic material was prepared by crosslinking sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CCNa) and hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC), following an improved vacuum freeze-drying method. The resulting cellulose composite material was neutral in pH and spongy with a density of 0.042 g/cm3, a porosity of 77.68%, and an average pore size of 13.45 µm. The composite's compressive and tensile strengths were 0.1 MPa and 15.2 MPa, respectively. Under in vitro conditions, the composites were degraded gradually through petite molecule stripping and dissolution, reaching 96.8% after 14 days and 100% degradation rate at 21 days. When implanted into rats, the degradation rate of the composite was slightly faster, reaching 99.7% in 14 days and 100% in 21 days. Histology showed a stable inflammatory response and no evidence of cell degeneration, necrosis, or abnormal hyperplasia in the tissues around the embedded material, indicating good biocompatibility. In the hemorrhagic liver model, the time to hemostasis and the total blood loss in the cellulose composite group was significantly lower than in the medical gauze group and the blank control group (P < 0.05). These data indicate that the novel cellulose composite is a promising implantable hemostatic material in clinical settings.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was 1) to compare condyle - fossa relationships in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), and 2) to score condylar resorption by using a TMJ indexing system in patients with JIA and without JIA. METHODS: The present retrospective cross-sectional study included cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images obtained from the sagittal, coronal, and axial slices. In the multidisciplinary Pediatric Rheumatology Outpatient Clinic at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) children with JIA are also examined by a group of orthodontists working in the same institute from October 2018 to July 2019. The predictor variable consists of patients with JIA and without JIA. The primary outcome variables are the depth of the mandibular fossa, joint spaces, axial angles, medio-lateral width, and condyle resorption. Other study variables were age and sex. In this study, the measurements obtained from 2 different groups (with JIA and without JIA) are compared using a t-test, where Tukey is utilized to adjust for multiple comparisons. The left and right joints are analyzed separately as the paired t test conducted showed a significant difference between the 2 joints (P < .05). RESULTS: The study was comprised of 34 patients diagnosed with JIA and 34 healthy subjects. The depth of the mandibular fossa, the anterior joint spaces, the axial angles, and the resorption index showed statistically significant differences between the JIA and healthy groups in both left and right sides (P < .05). However, there was no statistically significant difference in the posterior joint spaces and mediolateral width between JIA and healthy groups in both sides (P > .05). CONCLUSIONS: The results of our study presented the destructive potential of juvenile idiopathic arthritis by using CBCT. CBCT scanning is a helpful tool in the evaluation of the radiographic result of TMJ.

Nanoscale artificial antigen-presenting cells (aAPCs) are promising to activate T cells directly for cancer immunotherapy, while feasible and flexible strategy to develop nanoscale aAPCs remains highly desirable. Metabolic glycoengineering is used to decorate chemical tags on cells which enables bioorthogonal chemical conjugation of functional molecules. Herein, we develop a nanoscale aAPC by metabolic dendritic cell (DC) labeling to mobilize T-cell based antitumor immunity. We coat azido-labeled DC membrane on imiquimod-loaded polymeric nanoparticles and sequentially modify anti-CD3ε antibody via click chemistry. The nanoscale aAPCs perform improved distribution in lymph nodes and stimulate T cells and resident APCs. Significant inhibition of tumor inoculation and growth is observed after the vaccination, which can be further improved by combining antiprogrammed cell death receptor 1 (PD1) therapy. Our results demonstrate the promising application of metabolically labeled DCs for designing nanoscale aAPCs, which provide a simple and general strategy to potentiate cancer immunotherapy.

Intimate coupling of photocatalysis and biodegradation (ICPB) is considered a promising approach for the degradation of recalcitrant organic compounds. In this work, using Trichoderma with benzene degradation ability coupled with activated sludge as a biological source and sugarcane bagasse cellulose composite as a carrier, the ICPB system showed excellent degradation and mineralization of trichlorobenzene under visible light induction. The biofilm inside the ICPB carrier can degrade and mineralize the photocatalytic products. ICPB increased the degradation efficiency of 1,2,3-TCB and 1,3,5-TCB by 12.43% and 4.67%, respectively, compared to photocatalysis alone. The biofilms inside the ICPB carriers can mineralize photocatalytic products, which increases the mineralization efficiency by 18.74%. According to the analysis of intermediates, the degradation of 1,2,3-TCB in this coupled system involved stepwise dechlorination and ring opening. The biofilm in ICPB carrier evolved to be enriched in Cutaneotrichosporon, Trichoderma, Apiotrichum, Zoogloea, Dechloromonas, Flavihumibacter and Cupriavidus, which are known for biodegradable aromatic hydrocarbon and halogenate. Novel microbial seeds supplemented with Trichoderma-based ICPB seem to provide a new potential strategy for effective degradation and mineralization of TCB.

INTRODUCTION: This study aimed to compare the designed and achieved mesiodistal angulation of maxillary canines and posterior teeth (MCPT) for first premolar extraction with clear aligner treatment and identify the main influencing factors for preventing MCPT tipping toward the extraction space. METHODS: A total of 21 adults with first premolar extraction were recruited. The designed and achieved tooth movement of MCPT was measured by superimposing their respective pretreatment and posttreatment cone-beam computed tomography images and compared with the designed tooth movement in ClinCheck using the paired t test and scatter plot analysis. Influencing factors, including dental arch length change, canine distalization, and initial mesiodistal angulation, were analyzed using the linear mixed-effect model. RESULTS: Designed distal crown tipping (second premolar, 10.73 ± 3.22°; first molar, 9.83 ± 3.60°; second molar, 7.18 ± 2.36°) significantly increased the distal inclination of the second premolar (2.50° ± 5.15°; P ï¼œ0.001), first molar (1.07° ± 4.14°; P ï¼œ0.001), and second (0.70° ± 3.78°; P ï¼œ0.001). Furthermore, mesial tipping (8.59° ± 6.03°; P ï¼œ0.001) achieved appropriate distal crown tipping of canines (-6.43° ± 5.04°; P ï¼œ0.001). The implemented preliminary formulas showed that shortening of the dental arch length, the distance of canine distalization, and initial mesiodistal angulation were closely related to the antitipping design. CONCLUSIONS: Designed distal crown tipping of posterior teeth and mesial crown tipping of canines might prevent unwanted crown tipping toward the extraction space during space closure. The proposed preliminary formula could guide antitipping designs in clear aligner treatment.

BACKGROUND: COVID-19 has caused a global pandemic and the death toll is increasing. However, there is no definitive information regarding the type of clinical specimens that is the best for SARS-CoV-2 detection, the antibody levels in patients with different duration of disease, and the relationship between antibody level and viral load. METHODS: Nasopharyngeal swabs, anal swabs, saliva, blood, and urine specimens were collected from patients with a course of disease ranging from 7 to 69 days. Viral load in different specimen types was measured using droplet digital PCR (ddPCR). Meanwhile, anti-nucleocapsid protein (anti-N) IgM and IgG antibodies and anti-spike protein receptor-binding domain (anti-S-RBD) IgG antibody in all serum samples were tested using ELISA. RESULTS: The positive detection rate in nasopharyngeal swab was the highest (54.05%), followed by anal swab (24.32%), and the positive detection rate in saliva, blood, and urine was 16.22%, 10.81%, and 5.41%, respectively. However, some patients with negative nasopharyngeal swabs had other specimens tested positive. There was no significant correlation between antibody level and days after symptoms onset or viral load. CONCLUSIONS: Other specimens could be positive in patients with negative nasopharyngeal swabs, suggesting that for patients in the recovery period, specimens other than nasopharyngeal swabs should also be tested to avoid false negative results, and anal swabs are recommended. The antibody level had no correlation with days after symptoms onset or the viral load of nasopharyngeal swabs, suggesting that the antibody level may also be affected by other factors.

Caries and dental erosion are common oral diseases. Traditional treatments involve the mechanical removal of decay and filling but these methods are not suitable for cases involving large-scale enamel erosion, such as hypoplasia. To develop a noninvasive treatment, promoting remineralisation in the early stage of caries is of considerable clinical significance. Therefore, biomimetic mineralisation is an ideal approach for restoring enamel. Biomimetic mineralisation forms a new mineral layer that is tightly attached to the surface of the enamel. This review details the state-of-art achievements on the application of amelogenin and non-amelogenin, amorphous calcium phosphate, ions flow and other techniques in the biomimetic mineralisation of enamel. The ultimate goal of this review was to shed light on the requirements for enamel biomineralisation. Hence, herein, we summarise two strategies of biological minimisation systems for in situ enamel restoration inspired by amelogenesis that have been developed in recent years and compare their advantages and disadvantages.

Pierre Robin sequence (PRS) is a rare congenital abnormality that may be classified as a first branchial arch syndrome. Patients with PRS who present with cleft palate have a deformity to the soft or hard palate of the maxilla that is repaired within the first year of birth. Despite the repair, patients may experience oronasal complications. Surgical repair is usually necessary if palatal fistula presents, and prosthetic obturators are used to provide temporary relief prior to surgery. This case report outlines the steps in the successful fabrication of a custom-fitted temporary vacuum-formed prosthetic obturator using computer-aided design technology to provide a more comfortable and effective treatment option for the patient.

RESUMEN

Chitosan (CS) is a natural polymer with a positive charge, a deacetylated derivative of chitin. Chitosan nanostructures (nano-CS) have received increasing interest due to their potential applications and remarkable properties. They offer advantages in stomatology due to their excellent biocompatibility, their antibacterial properties, and their biodegradability. Nano-CSs can be applied as drug carriers for soft tissue diseases, bone tissue engineering and dental hard tissue remineralization; furthermore, they have been used in endodontics due to their antibacterial properties; and, finally, nano-CS can improve the adhesion and mechanical properties of dental-restorative materials due to their physical blend and chemical combinations. In this review, recent developments in the application of nano-CS for stomatology are summarized, with an emphasis on nano-CS's performance characteristics in different application fields. Moreover, the challenges posed by and the future trends in its application are assessed.

BACKGROUND: Early childhood caries has been designated as a serious public health problem. The traditional restoration method is very challenging, especially in uncooperative patients. Non-invasive therapy, like remineralization agents, which have been developed to reverse the demineralization progress at the early stage of caries, may be a better choice. This study aimed to evaluate the remineralization efficacy of different concentrations of 45S5 bioactive glass (BAG) on artifical carious lesions of deciduous enamel. METHODS: 65 caries-like enamel lesions of the deciduous teeth were assigned to 5 groups (n = 13) and transported to a 14 days pH-cycling: Group A: 2%BAG, Group B: 4%BAG, Group C: 6%BAG, Group D: 8%BAG, and Group E: deionized water (DDW, negative control). 8 sound (Group F) and 8 demineralized teeth (Group G) were prepared for contrast. The recovery power of mechanical property was evaluated by Vickers hardness test through the recovery of enamel microhardness (%REMH). Surface morphology, mass fraction of Ca and P ions, and Ca/P atomic ratio were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Moreover, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy equipped with attenuated total reflectance was used to identify the chemical structure of newly formed compounds. RESULTS: % REMH were (42.65 ± 1.35), (52.59 ± 2.96), (57.40 ± 1.72), (52.91 ± 2.55), (12.46 ± 2.81) in 2%BAG, 4%BAG, 6%BAG, 8%BAG, and DDW groups respectively. Micro-spherical particles were deposited in all BAG groups and 6% BAG showed the densest and most uniform surface. EDX analysis identified significantly higher Ca(wt%) and P(wt%) in four BAG groups than in the demineralized group (p < 0.005), while 6% BAG showed the highest mineral gain efficacy. The infrared spectrum demonstrated that newly mineralized crystals were consisted of type-B hydroxycarbonate apatite. CONCLUSION: BAG possessed a promising remineralization effect on artificial lesions in deciduous enamel by recovering enamel surface mechanical property, morphology and chemical elements. Among them, 6% BAG performed the greatest overall efficacy. Acting as a new caries-arresting biomaterial, 45S5 BAG has the potential to facilitate the adaptation of better carious prevention strategies in children.

Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) is the principal etiologic agent in the occurrence of human dental caries and the formation of biofilms on the surface of teeth. Tea tree oil (TTO) has been demonstrated to exhibit a wide range of pharmacological actions that can effectively inhibit the activity of bacteria. In this context, we evaluated the in vitro antimicrobial effects of TTO on S. mutans both during planktonic growth and in biofilms compared with 0.2% CHX. We determined the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) using the microdilution method, the bacteriostatic rate using an MTT assay, and the antimicrobial time using a time-kill assay. Then, we explored the effects of TTO on acid production and cell integrity. Furthermore, the effects of TTO on the biomass and bacterial activity of S. mutans biofilms were studied. Finally, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) were used to investigate the structure and activity of biofilms. The MIC and MBC values were 0.125% and 0.25%, and the bacterial inhibition rate was concentration dependent. TTO can effectively inhibit bacterial acid production and destroy the integrity of the cell membrane. Electron micrographs revealed a reduction in bacterial aggregation, inhibited biofilm formation, and reduced biofilm thickness. The effect of TTO was the same as that of 0.2% CHX at a specific concentration. In summary, we suggest that TTO is a potential anticariogenic agent that can be used against S. mutans.

BACKGROUND: An orthodontic device that moves teeth with pulsating force was invented and underwent a single center, controlled, clinical trial to test its safety and efficacy for treatment. The device has a custom-made thermo-plastic mouthpiece which fits over the teeth with an inflatable silicone element. A console that measures and controls the pulsating force level in real-time controls the air pressure that delivers a pulsating force. In this study, the effect of the device on root resorption during orthodontic treatment was evaluated using 3D cone beam computed tomography and compared with a control group of patients who received Invisalign treatment. METHODS: Twenty-eight subjects were enrolled in the investigational arm and 15 in the control group. Subjects were followed until the average score of the mandibular and maxillary teeth achieved a Little's Irregularity Index of 1.5 mm or less. RESULTS: There were no adverse events reported throughout the study for either treatment arm. No clinically significant root resorption was observed for either group. The investigational device did not cause root resorption greater than the control group. Both devices produced a safety profile compared to current orthodontic techniques. CONCLUSION: The investigational device did not produce more root resorption than similar conventional orthodontic appliances. TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT03421886 . INTRODUCTION: This case report describes the treatment of a 21-year-old man who presented in an orthodontic office for treatment but lived in a city 100 miles away and wanted the orthognathic surgery in another state in America. The patient presented with an anterior open bite and skeletal Class III relationship. METHODS: The treatment plan included: (1) effective and careful communication of the treatment plan with the patient, orthodontist and oral and maxillofacial surgeon; (2) pre-surgical alignment and levelling of the teeth in both arches with Invisalign; (3) a long-distance communication between the orthodontist and the surgeon for surgical plan with virtual surgical planning (VSP Orthognathics; 3D Systems, www.3Dsystem.com) online; (4) maxillary advancement (LeFort I osteotomy) with mandibular set-back (bilateral sagittal split osteotomy); (5) postsurgical correction of the malocclusion with clear brackets and aligners; and (6) retention and final small tooth movement adjustments with aligners/clear retainers. RESULTS: The anterior open bite was treated, crowding was eliminated in the upper and lower anterior segment, correction of skeletal and dental Class III malocclusion was obtained, mandibular plane angle was reduced and facial profile improved. CONCLUSIONS: The results suggest that aesthetic and functional results can be achieved with long-distance communication of two specialties and with the combined use of clear aligners and clear fixed appliances.

BACKGROUND: Pegylated interferon (PEG-IFN) alfa-2b is recommended for chronic hepatitis B (CHB). We aimed to investigate the sustainability of off-treatment responses among Chinese HBeAg-positive CHB patients treated with PEG-IFN alfa-2b from a randomized trial. METHODS: Eligible Chinese patients (n = 322) were followed up by one visit after a median of 6 years (LTFU) following their participation in a randomized trial evaluating the efficacy of three PEG-IFN alfa-2b dosing regimens (1.0 or 1.5 µg/kg/wk. 24 weeks or 1.5 µg/kg/wk. 48 weeks). Primary endpoints at the LTFU were sustained SR and CR (SR/CR at the end of original study [EOS] and at the LTFU). SR was defined as HBeAg loss and seroconversion to anti-HBe and CR as HBeAg loss and seroconversion to anti-HBe and HBV-DNA < 2000 IU/mL. RESULTS: The proportions of patients achieving sustained SR among patients who had SR at EOS were high in three treatment groups (61.9, 65.5, 76.5%, respectively, p = 0.46); treatment with PEG-IFN alfa-2b 1.5 µg/kg/wk. 48 weeks had the highest proportion of a sustained CR among patients who had CR at EOS (75.0%, p = 0.05). A considerable number of patients achieved sustained SR (18.2-29.9%) and sustained CR (14.8-18.3%) after EOS despite no further NA treatment. At the LTFU, rates of SR and CR were less than 70.0 and 50.0%, respectively, among all enrolled patients regardless of additional nucleos(t)ide analogs before the LTFU. CONCLUSIONS: PEG IFN alfa-2b therapy had considerable off-treatment sustainability in Chinese HBeAg positive chronic hepatitis B patients with serological and complete responses.

OBJECTIVE: Root resorption due to orthodontic tooth movement may adversely affect the root-crown (R/C) ratios of permanent teeth, especially in patients with Short Root Anomaly (SRA), a poorly understood disorder affecting root development. Evaluation of SRA R/C ratios to normal dentition would facilitate diagnosis and orthodontic treatment planning. However, reference values are not available for all ethnicities. Our goal was to determine R/C ratios of permanent teeth and their relationship to gender and ethnicity. SETTING/SAMPLE: A retrospective study of 333 patients (109 Caucasians, 112 African Americans and 112 Hispanics) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry. MATERIALS/METHODS: Root lengths and crown heights were measured from panoramic radiographs of 6241 teeth using modified Lind's method. A linear mixed model was used to compare the R/C ratios of teeth among subgroups (gender, ethnicity). RESULTS: The mean R/C ratios varied from 1.80 to 2.21 for the maxillary teeth and 1.83-2.49 for the mandibular teeth. Gender differences in R/C ratios were found to be significant only for the lower central incisors (P < 0.05). Hispanics showed significantly lower ratios for most teeth compared to the other two groups (P < 0.05). There were significant differences in R/C ratios between African Americans and Caucasians in the upper lateral incisors, lower central incisors and lower first premolars (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Our results suggest that ethnicity is an important factor in determining the R/C ratios of permanent teeth. Therefore, when diagnosing developmental conditions such as SRA, ethnic group-specific reference values should be considered.

This case report describes the successful treatment of a 14-year-old girl with severe bilateral idiopathic condylar resorption and resultant mandibular retrusion, increased overjet, and anterior open bite. The nonextraction treatment plan included (1) aligning and leveling the teeth in both arches, (2) performing Le Fort I maxillary osteotomy, bilateral condylectomy, and mandibular joint replacement, and (3) postsurgical correction of the malocclusion. The orthodontic treatment was initiated with the use of custom lingual appliances followed by orthognathic surgery planned with virtual surgical planning. Patient-fitted and customized temporomandibular joint implants were designed and manufactured based on the patient's stereolithic bone anatomic model. Treatment was concluded with detailed orthodontic finishing. Optimum esthetic and functional results were achieved with the cooperation of 2 specialties and the use of state-of-the-art technology.
