RESUMEN

Mediastinal solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are rarely found in adults and there are few reports describing primary mediastinal SFT invading the diaphragm. We report the case of a 47-year-old woman with a large right inferior mediastinal SFT. Magnetic resonance imaging showed the tumor invading the right lower lobe of the lung and the right hemidiaphragm, with displacement of the inferior vena cava (IVC) and right lobe of the liver. Angiogram showed IVC stenosis. To our knowledge, this is the first report of complete resection of the tumor combined with right lower lobectomy of the lung and partial resection and reconstruction of the right diaphragm with a Dacron flap.

RESUMEN

In this study, a novel air-assisted liquid-liquid microextraction (AALLME) method was developed for the HPLC determination of bisphenols migration from disposable plastic lunch box to contacting water. The AALLME was carried out in commercially-available medical plastic syringes with low-density extraction solvent (n-octanol), and the reaction of NaHCO3 and HCl was introduced to simultaneously induce the in-situ phase separation and salt effect. After the AALLME processes, the upper organic phase was pushed into the end of syringes (narrow tube) by moving the piston so that it could be readily collected for the HPLC analysis. The factors including the type and volume of extraction solvent, NaHCO3 addition and extraction cycles were optimized. Under the optimal conditions, the limits of detection (LODs) for target bisphenols were evaluated to be 0.2-0.7 µg L-1, and good linearities with correlation coefficients higher than 0.9955 were obtained. The recoveries for target bisphenols ranged from 80% to 106%, with the relative standard deviations (RSDs) of 4.4-14.1%. The proposed method was successfully applied to investigate the migration of bisphenols from the disposable plastic lunch boxes to the contacting water, revealing that compared to the conventional water-bath heating, the microwave heating could induce the significant migration of bisphenols in a much shorter time.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the effects and side effects of paclitaxel liposome formula on breast cancer and non-small cell lung cancer, compared with traditional taxol. METHODS: 129 patients from multicenters were prospectively randomized into a test group, given paclitaxel liposome at 135 mg/m(2) each session, and a control group, given traditional taxol at 135 mg/m(2) each session. Both groups received these regimens combined with ADM or DDP for two cycles (3 weeks per cycle). RESULTS: Of 129 cases, 128 were eligible for the analysis of side effects and 126 for the overall response rate. The complete remission rate, partial remission rate and overall response rate were 1.6%, 33.3%, 34.9% in the test group and 6.3%, 22.2%, 28.6% in the control group. There was no significant difference between the two groups. Though there was no significant difference in hematological toxicity between the two groups, the toxicity from the mixed solvent of polyethoxylated castor oil and ethanol was significantly lower in the test group than that in the control group. CONCLUSION: Paclitaxel liposome combined with ADM or DDP in the treatment of advanced breast cancer and non-small-cell lung cancer, being similarly effective as taxol, can significantly lower the incidence of serious hypersensitive reactions.

RESUMEN

The concentration of propofol in patient's exhaled air is an indicator of the anesthetic depth. In the present study, a membrane inlet ion mobility spectrometer (MI-IMS) was built for the on-line measurement of propofol. Compared with the direct sample introduction, the membrane inlet could eliminate the interference of moisture and improve the selectivity of propofol. Effects of membrane temperature and carrier gas flow rate on the sensitivity and response time have been investigated experimentally and theoretically. Under the optimized experimental conditions of membrane temperature 100 °C and carrier gas flow rate 200 mL min(-1), the calculated limit of detection (LOD) for propofol was 1 ppbv, and the calibration curve was linear in the range of 10-83 ppbv with a correlation coefficient (R(2)) of 0.993. Finally, the propofol concentration in an anaesthetized mouse exhaled air was monitored continuously to demonstrate the capability of MI-IMS in the on-line measurement of propofol in real samples.
