OBJECTIVE: Optimal implant planning and placement allows the prosthesis to be well designed to achieve a satisfactory aesthetic and functional outcome. We aimed to compare deviations between implant planning and placement with the assistance of dynamic computer-assisted implant surgery (d-CAIS) or autonomous robotic computer-assisted implant surgery (r-CAIS) methods in a clinical setting. METHODS: The retrospective analysis of medical records between 2021 July and 2022 December was conducted to compare the implantation accuracy of the d-CAIS and r-CAIS system in partially edentulous patients through cone-beam computed tomography. Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) were recorded using a visual analogue scale (VAS). The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to check the data distribution. Student's t-test or Mann-Whitney U-test was used as appropriate, with a defined significant difference (p < .05). RESULTS: Seventy-seven patients were analysed (124 implants), with 38 patients (62 implants) in the d-CAIS group and 39 patients (62 implants) in the r-CAIS group. The differences between d-CAIS and r-CAIS were 4.09 ± 1.79° versus 1.37 ± 0.92° (p < .001) in angular deviation; 1.25 ± 0.54 versus 0.68 ± 0.36 mm (p < .001) in coronal global deviation; 1.39 ± 0.52 versus 0.69 ± 0.36 mm (p < .001) in apical global deviation; the results of the PROMs showed no statistical difference between the two groups. CONCLUSIONS: r-CAIS allows more accurate implant placement than the d-CAIS technology. And both groups achieved overall satisfactory outcomes via VAS (Chinese Clinical Trial Registry ChiCTR2300072004).

Micro(nano)plastic, as a new type of environmental pollutant, have become a potential threat to the life and health of various stages of biology. However, it is not yet clear whether they will affect brain development in the fetal stage. Therefore, this study aims to explore the potential effects of nanoplastics on the development of fetal rat brains. To assess the allocation of NPs (25 nm and 50 nm) in various regions of the fetal brain, pregnant rats were exposed to concentrations (50, 10, 2.5, and 0.5 mg/kg) of PS-NPs. Our results provided evidence of the transplacental transfer of PS-NPs to the fetal brain, with a prominent presence observed in several cerebral regions, notably the cerebellum, hippocampus, striatum, and prefrontal cortex. This distribution bias might be linked to the developmental sequence of each brain region. Additionally, we explored the influence of prenatal exposure on the myelin development of the cerebellum, given its the highest PS-NP accumulation in offspring. Compared with control rats, PS-NPs exposure caused a significant reduction in myelin basic protein (MBP) and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) expression, a decrease in myelin thickness, an increase in cell apoptosis, and a decline in the oligodendrocyte population. These effects gave rise to motor deficits. In conclusion, our results identified the specific distribution of NPs in the fetal brain following prenatal exposure and revealed that prenatal exposure to PS-NPs can suppress myelin formation in the cerebellum of the fetus.

OBJECTIVES: The abutments produced with circular symmetry failed to accurately replicate the natural teeth's cervical shapes. The purpose of this study was to measure cervical cross-sections of maxillary anterior teeth using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images to design anatomic healing abutments. MATERIALS AND METHODS: CBCT data of 61 patients were analyzed using Ez3D Plus software. Measurements were taken at the cemento-enamel junction (CEJ) and 1 mm coronal to CEJ for maxillary central incisors, lateral incisors, and canines. Various parameters, including area, perimeter, and eight line segments in the distal (a), disto-palatal (b), palatal (c), mesio-palatal (d), mesial (e), mesio-labial (f), labial (g), and disto-labial (h) directions, were used to describe dental neck contours. The ratios (f/b and h/d) were analyzed, and differences based on sex and dental arch morphology were explored. RESULTS: Significant differences were found in area and perimeter between males and females, but not in f/b and h/d ratios. Differences in the f/b ratio were observed among dental arch morphologies for maxillary central incisors, lateral incisors, and canines. CONCLUSIONS: CBCT measurements of cervical cross-sections provide more accurate data for designing anatomic healing abutments. The fabrication of anatomical healing abutments needs to consider the influence of gender on cervical size and to explore the potential effect of arch shape on cervical morphology. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The novel method provides detailed measurements for the description of dental cervical contours for patients with bilateral homonymous teeth missing. The measurements of this study could be utilized to design more accurate anatomic healing abutments to create desired morphology of peri-implant soft tissue.

A digital technique for transferring the maxillomandibular relationship using photogrammetry, an intraoral scanner, and a computer-aided design software program is described in a treatment involving immediate loading in a patient with mandibular edentulism. The edentulous mandible was located preoperatively in a centric occlusal relationship with a denture, and preoperative and postoperative cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) data were aligned and merged based on bone markers. This technique, which allows the transfer of the presurgical maxillomandibular relationship during the immediate loading procedure, is more objective, more straightforward, and faster than the conventional method.

This technical report describes a fully digital workflow for the design and fabrication of removable complete dentures in a single day. This technique integrates facial and intraoral scans, uses a computer-aided design software program to modify the orientation of the maxillary occlusal plane in the sagittal and frontal planes and evaluate the esthetics and finally produces complete dentures with a clinically acceptable design, simplifying the clinical workflow.

BACKGROUND: Dynamic navigation systems have a broad application prospect in digital implanting field. This study aimed to explore and compare the dynamic navigation system learning curve of dentists with different implant surgery experience through dental models. METHODS: The nine participants from the same hospital were divided equally into three groups. Group 1 (G1) and Group 2 (G2) were dentists who had more than 5 years of implant surgery experience. G1 also had more than 3 years of experience with dynamic navigation, while G2 had no experience with dynamic navigation. Group 3 (G3) consisted of dentists with no implant surgery experience and no experience with dynamic navigation. Each participant sequentially placed two implants (31 and 36) on dental models according to four practice courses (1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 exercises). Each dentist completed 1-3, 4-6 exercises in one day, and then 7-9 and 10-12 exercises 7 ± 1 days later. The preparation time, surgery time and related implant accuracy were analyzed. RESULTS: Three groups placed 216 implants in four practice courses. The regressions for preparation time (F = 10.294, R2 = 0.284), coronal deviation (F = 4.117, R2 = 0.071), apical deviation (F = 13.016, R2 = 0.194) and axial deviation (F = 30.736, R2 = 0.363) were statistically significant in G2. The regressions for preparation time (F = 9.544, R2 = 0.269), surgery time (F = 45.032, R2 = 0.455), apical deviation (F = 4.295, R2 = 0.074) and axial deviation (F = 21.656, R2 = 0.286) were statistically significant in G3. Regarding preparation and surgery time, differences were found between G1 and G3, G2 and G3. Regarding implant accuracy, differences were found in the first two practice courses between G1 and G3. CONCLUSIONS: The operation process of dynamic navigation system is relatively simple and easy to use. The linear regression analysis showed there is a dynamic navigation learning curve for dentists with or without implant experience and the learning curve of surgery time for dentists with implant experience fluctuates. However, dentists with implant experience learn more efficiently and have a shorter learning curve.

OBJECTIVE: In chondrogenesis, BMP signaling was inferred to exhibit regional specificity during Meckel's cartilage morphogenesis. This study aimed to explore the differences in BMP signaling activity between different parts of Meckel's cartilage and the impacts of BMP4 or ALK3 deficiency on the development of Meckel's cartilage during embryogenesis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The BRE-gal reporter mouse line was utilized to gain an overall picture of canonical BMP signaling activity, as assessed by X-gal staining. Mouse models lacking either Bmp4 or Alk3 in neural crest cells (Wnt1-Cre;Bmp4fl/fl and Wnt1-Cre;Alk3fl/fl ) were generated to explore the morphogenesis of Meckel's cartilage and the mandibular symphysis, as assessed by skeletal staining, histology, and immunostaining. RESULTS: Different parts of Meckel's cartilage exhibited activation of different combinations of BMP signaling pathways. In Wnt1-Cre;Bmp4fl/fl mutants, Sox9+ condensation of the chondrogenic rostral process failed to form, and the V-shaped Runx2+ tissue was split in the median mandibular symphysis. The Wnt1-Cre;Bmp4fl/fl and Wnt1-Cre;Alk3fl/fl mouse models both exhibited truncated Meckel's cartilage, aberrant mandibular intramembranous bone, and tongue muscle abnormalities. CONCLUSIONS: The central hard-tissue loss of both mutant mouse models led to a mandibular symphysis cleft, mimicking the typical sign of the median mandible Tessier 30 cleft in humans.

INTRODUCTION: Matching the maxillomandibular basal bone width is essential to the stability of orthodontic treatment. We aimed to determine the relationship between basal bone width mismatching and the vertical and sagittal skeletal pattern in patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion through shape analysis and structural equation modeling (SEM). METHODS: Cone-beam computed tomography images were collected from 45 men and 51 women. Width mismatching of the basal bone was determined using generalized Procrustes analysis. Twenty-two parameters from the synthesized cephalogram were measured, followed by factor analysis and SEM. RESULTS: Mismatch occurred at the second molar (men, -4.29 ± 4.32 mm; women, -5.55 ± 4.43 mm) and retromolar regions (men, -8.49 ± 5.11 mm; women: -8.93 ± 5.25 mm). The sum of angles had the largest loading for vertical-1 (extracted from 18 vertical cephalometric measurements) (men, 0.9477; women, 0.9489), followed by MP-SN angle (0.9408) in men and N-Me/S-Go (0.9342) in women. Wits appraisal and anteroposterior dysplasia indicator were largest for Sagittal-1. SEM showed a positive effect of male vertical-1 and 2 on width difference in the retromolar region (P <0.001; B >0). Female vertical-1 had a significant positive effect on DW7 (P <0.001; B = 5.535) and DWR (P = 0.016; B = 3.427) as vertical-2. Sagittal-1 showed a negative correlation with DW7 in both genders (P <0.05; B <0) and with DWR in men. CONCLUSIONS: Basal bone width mismatching occurred at the second molar and retromolar regions, especially in low-angle and patients with severe skeletal Class III malocclusion.

BACKGROUND: The application of calcium phosphate (CaP)-based bone substitutes plays an important role in periodontal regeneration, implant dentistry and alveolar bone reconstruction. The incorporation of strontium (Sr) into CaP-based bone substitutes appears to improve their biological properties, but the reported in vivo bone repair performance is inconsistent among studies. Herein, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the in vivo performance of Sr-doped materials. METHODS: We searched PubMed, EMBASE (via OVIDSP), and reference lists to identify relevant animal studies. The search, study selection, and data extraction were performed independently by two investigators. Meta-analyses and sub-group analyses were conducted using Revman version 5.4.1. The heterogeneity between studies were assessed by I2. Publication bias was investigated through a funnel plot. RESULTS: Thirty-five studies were finally enrolled, of which 16 articles that reported on new bone formation (NBF) were included in the meta-analysis, covering 31 comparisons and 445 defects. The overall effect for NBF was 2.25 (95% CI 1.61-2.90, p < 0.00001, I2 = 80%). Eight comparisons from 6 studies reported the outcomes of bone volume/tissue volume (BV/TV), with an overall effect of 1.42 (95% CI 0.65-2.18, p = 0.0003, I2 = 75%). Fourteen comparisons reported on the material remaining (RM), with the overall effect being -2.26 (95% CI - 4.02 to - 0.50, p = 0.0009, I2 = 86%). CONCLUSIONS: Our study revealed that Sr-doped calcium phosphate bone substitutes improved in vivo performance of bone repair. However, more studies are also recommended to further verify this conclusion.

BACKGROUND: The mechanics of double key loop (DKL) are not well defined, and this finite element study was designed to explore its force system. METHODS: A simplified 3-dimensional finite element model of single and double key loops with an archwire between the lateral incisor and second premolar was established in Ansys Workbench 17.0. Activation in Type-1 (retraction at the distal end), Type-2 (retraction at the distal key) and Type-3 (Type-2 plus ligation between keys) was simulated. The vertical force, load/deflection ratio and moment/force ratio of stainless-steel and titanium-molybdenum alloy (TMA) loops were calculated and compared. RESULTS: The double key loop generated approximately 40% of the force of a single key loop. Type-2 loading of DKL showed a higher L/D ratio than Type-1 loading with a similar M/F ratio. Type-3 loading of DKL showed the highest M/F ratio with a similar L/D ratio as single key loop. The M/F ratio in Type-3 loading increased with the decreasing of retraction force. The DKL of TMA produced approximately 40% of the force and moment compared with those of SS in all loading types. When activated at equal distances below 1 mm, the M/F ratios of SS and TMA DKL with equal preactivation angles were almost the same. CONCLUSION: The M/F ratio on anterior teeth increases with the preactivation angle and deactivation of DKL. The M/F ratio at a certain distance of activation mainly depends on the preactivation angle instead of the wire material. TMA is recommended as a substitute for SS in DKL for a lower magnitude of force.

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to investigate the amount and sources of stress in dental undergraduate students in Fujian, China, and the factors associated with stress. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted during the second semester of the 2017-2018 academic year at the School of Stomatology, Fujian Medical University, China. A total of 396 students were surveyed with the Dental Environment Stress Questionnaire (DES) and the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) using an online survey system. The participants' demographic information, including sex, age, year of study, and grade point average (GPA) was also collected. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed to compare the stress scores. Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression analyses were conducted to explore the associated factors of stress and academic performance. All statistical analyses were performed at a significance level of 5%. RESULTS: A total of 347 undergraduate students participated in the present study, for a response rate of 87.6%. There were no significant differences in the DES and PSS total scores among students of different grades and sexes. Significant differences were found in the DES "workload" and "self-efficacy beliefs" scores among students from different study years (all P < 0.05). The Multiple linear regression showed that DES and PSS scores were negatively correlated with GPA, while sex was positively correlated with GPA (all P < 0.05). Female students had significantly higher GPAs than male students. CONCLUSIONS: Dental undergraduates in Fujian, China experienced moderate levels of stress. While the amount of stress did not differ by year of study, the sources of stress did differ. Stress scores and sex were negatively correlated with academic performance.

OBJECTIVE: This systematic review aimed to assess the efficacy of occlusal splints in the treatment of temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). MATERIAL AND METHODS: This systematic review was conducted according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines. Four databases (Medline via Pubmed, Web of Science, Embase and Scopus) were searched, the last search was conducted on April 2020. Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) employing the Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (DC/TMD) or Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (RDC/TMD) as diagnostic criteria and including occlusal splint as one of the experimental groups were included in the present study. The data from the included studies were extracted and assessed for risk of bias. RESULTS: Eleven studies were included. The sample size ranged from 12 to 96 subjects. The male to female ratio was 0 to 25%. The mean length of follow-up was 4 months. Occlusal splint had a positive effect on mandibular movements in all included studies. Seven studies showed a positive effect of occlusal splint on chronic pain reduction and pain intensity, while two others showed improvement of temporomandibular joint clicking sounds and locking of the jaws. Moreover, improvements in mouth opening, depression, and anxiety symptoms, were reported in four studies. CONCLUSIONS: An occlusal splint can be considered as a non-invasive treatment approach for patients with TMD, especially those with signs and symptoms of restriction of mandibular movement and pain. Moreover, the present findings highlighted an urgent need of a standardised consensus regarding the prognostic evaluation of TMD.

BACKGROUND: The aim of the study was to compare the efficacy of the autogenous tooth bone and xenogenic bone grafted in immediate implant placement with bone defect. METHODS: Thirty patients whose compromised anterior teeth need immediate implant placement were enrolled. Autogenous tooth bone made from the extracted teeth by chair-side or the xenogenic bone were used to repaired bone defect. Clinical examination, radiographic assessment about the horizontal bone change in the level of 0 mm, 3 mm and 6 mm below the implant neck and the marginal bone loss were made immediately, 6 and 12 months after implant placement. Questionnaire of the feelings about the surgery were made at the time of removing the sutures. RESULTS: All implants achieved the success criteria without any complications at the follow-up period. The percent of the horizontal bone change and the marginal bone loss at 6 and 12 months were almost the same between two groups (P > .05). The horizontal bone loss at the first or the latter 6 months was almost the same (P > .05). But the horizontal bone loss at the 6 mm level was less than the 0 mm and 3 mm levels at 6 and 12 months (P < .05). Meanwhile patients seem more satisfied with the autogenous tooth bone derived from the questionnaire. CONCLUSION: The bone volume change in the facial part of the implant after immediate placement is almost the same between two groups. Providing clinical evidence that the autogenous tooth bone made from compromised tooth can be an acceptable bone graft material.

BACKGROUND Surface characters of culture plates affect cellular behaviors such as cellular alignment and elongation. Microgrooves guide the cell growth along the grooves and spread. The aim of this study was to observe the effect of fibronectin (FN)-coated micro-grooved titanium plates on the alignment, spread, adhesion, and proliferation of human gingival fibroblasts (HGFs). MATERIAL AND METHODS Micro-grooved titanium plates were fabricated, and FN was immobilized onto the micro-grooved surfaces using silanization. HGFs were cultured on the smoothed or micro-grooved (with 35 µm width, 15 µm bridge, 10 µm depth) titanium plates, with or without the FN coating. We assessed the water contact angle and blood compatibility of the surfaces, and the earlier adhesion, adhesion strength, proliferation and morphology of the cells growing on the different titanium surfaces. RESULTS The results revealed that the blood hemolysis rates of different titanium surfaces were within the safety limits. HGFs aligned along the grooves, spread out more evidently, and showed significantly more adhesion in the FN-coated micro-grooved surface compared with other surfaces (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS The micro-grooved surface coated with FN guides the HGFs to align along the grooves, and promotes cell spread, adhesion and proliferation, which might be used to improve the efficacy of dental implants.

The osteoimmune response plays a crucial regulatory role in the osseointegration of dental implants. Previous studies found the antimicrobial peptide coating (GL13K) could activate the immunomodulatory potential of macrophages (Raw 264.7) and promote osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs). To further investigate the mechanism of interaction between immunomodulation and differentiation, a co-culture model of the representative cells (Raw 264.7 and BMSCs) was constructed to mimic the immune microenvironment. In this system, GL13K coating of titanium implant effectively inhibited the polarization of the inflammatory M1 type and promoted the polarization of the anti-inflammatory M2 type. Furthermore, the inhibited NF-κB signaling pathway and Mip-2 gene expression were found and validated by bioinformatics analysis and virus-induced gene silencing, which significantly affected the tissue repair process. It can be concluded that the GL13K coating had the potential to establish a localized immune microenvironment conducive to osteogenic differentiation through cellular interactions. Subsequent investigations would be dedicated to a thorough examination of the osseointegration effects of GL13K coating.

BACKGROUND: Occlusal splints and anterior repositioning splints (ARSs) are widely accepted treatments for temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). However, there is uncertainty with regard to the most suitable amount of mandibular repositioning. The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinical and functional effects of the therapeutic position (ThP) established based on the Controlled Mandibular Repositioning (CMR) method. METHODS: In this clinical trial, 20 subjects with 37 joints with disc displacement with reduction were recruited. The initial standard functional diagnostic protocol, MRI, and digital condylography were performed, and ThP was calculated with the CMR method. After a 6-month follow-up, the standard diagnostic protocol was repeated. The change in disc position was evaluated by means of MRI after 6 months of CMR therapy. RESULTS: The MRI findings in the parasagittal plane demonstrated that out of the 37 joints presenting disc displacement, 36 discs were successfully repositioned; thus, the condyle-disc-fossa relationship was re-established. Therefore, the success rate of this pilot study was 97.3%. The mean position of the displaced discs was at 10:30 o'clock of the TMJ joint and at 12:00 o'clock after CMR therapy. CONCLUSIONS: The ThP determined using the CMR approach reduced all of the anteriorly displaced discs (except one). The CMR method allowed to define an optimum ThP of the mandible thus supporting patients' effective adaptation to treatment position.

Glaucoma valves (GVs) play an essential role in treating glaucoma. However, fibrosis after implantation has limited their long-term success in clinical applications. In this study, we aimed to develop a comprehensive surface-engineering strategy to improve the biocompatibility of GVs by constructing a microenvironment-regulated and dual-hydrophilic antifouling coating on a GV material (silicone rubber, SR). The coating was based on a superhydrophilic polydopamine (SPD) coating with good short-range superhydrophilicity and antifouling abilities. In addition, SPD coatings contain many phenolic hydroxyl groups that can effectively resist oxidative stress and the inflammatory microenvironment. Furthermore, based on its in situ photocatalytic free-radical polymerization properties, the SPD coating polymerized poly 2-methylacryloxyethylphosphocholine, providing an additional long-range hydrophilic and antifouling effect. The in vitro test results showed that the microenvironment-regulated and dual-hydrophilic coatings had anti-protein contamination, anti-oxidation, anti-inflammation, and anti-fiber proliferation capabilities. The in vivo test results indicated that this coating substantially reduced the fiber encapsulation formation of the SR material by inhibiting inflammation and fibrosis. This design strategy for dual hydrophilic coatings with microenvironmental regulation can provide a valuable reference for the surface engineering design of novel medical implantable devices. STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: Superhydrophilic polydopamine (SPD) coatings were prepared on silicone rubber (SR) by a two-electron oxidation method. Introduction of pMPC to SPD surface using photocatalytic radical polymerization to obtain a dual-hydrophilic coating. The dual-hydrophilic coating effectively modulates the oxidative and inflammatory microenvironment. This coating significantly reduced protein contamination and adhesion of inflammatory cells and fibroblasts in vitro. The coating-modified SR inhibits inflammatory and fibrosis responses in vivo, promising to serve the glaucoma valves.

Microplastics have emerged as a prominent global environmental contaminant, and they have been found in both human placenta and breast milk. However, the potential effects and mechanisms of maternal exposure to microplastics at various gestational stages on offspring neurodevelopment remain poorly understood. This investigation delves into the potential neurodevelopmental ramifications of maternal exposure to polystyrene nanoplastics (PS-NPs) during distinct phases of pregnancy and lactation. Targeted metabolomics shows that co-exposure during both pregnancy and lactation primarily engendered alterations in monoamine neurotransmitters within the cortex and amino acid neurotransmitters within the hippocampus. After prenatal exposure to PS-NPs, fetal rats showed appreciably diminished cortical thickness and heightened cortical cell proliferation. However, this exposure did not affect the neurodifferentiation of radial glial cells and intermediate progenitor cells. In addition, offspring are accompanied by disordered neocortical migration, typified by escalated superficial layer neurons proliferation and reduced deep layer neurons populations. Moreover, the hippocampal synapses showed significantly widened synaptic clefts and diminished postsynaptic density. Consequently, PS-NPs culminated in deficits in anxiolytic-like behaviors and spatial memory in adolescent offspring, aligning with concurrent neurotransmitter and synaptic alterations. In conclusion, this study elucidates the sensitive windows of early-life nanoplastic exposure and the consequential impact on offspring neurodevelopment.

Computer-aided implant surgery has undergone continuous development in recent years. In this study, active and passive systems of dynamic navigation were divided into active dynamic navigation system group and passive dynamic navigation system group (ADG and PDG), respectively. Active, passive and semi-active implant robots were divided into active robot group, passive robot group and semi-active robot group (ARG, PRG and SRG), respectively. Each group placed two implants (FDI tooth positions 31 and 36) in a model 12 times. The accuracy of 216 implants in 108 models were analysed. The coronal deviations of ADG, PDG, ARG, PRG and SRG were 0.85 ± 0.17 mm, 1.05 ± 0.42 mm, 0.29 ± 0.15 mm, 0.40 ± 0.16 mm and 0.33 ± 0.14 mm, respectively. The apical deviations of the five groups were 1.11 ± 0.23 mm, 1.07 ± 0.38 mm, 0.29 ± 0.15 mm, 0.50 ± 0.19 mm and 0.36 ± 0.16 mm, respectively. The axial deviations of the five groups were 1.78 ± 0.73°, 1.99 ± 1.20°, 0.61 ± 0.25°, 1.04 ± 0.37° and 0.42 ± 0.18°, respectively. The coronal, apical and axial deviations of ADG were higher than those of ARG, PRG and SRG (all P < 0.001). Similarly, the coronal, apical and axial deviations of PDG were higher than those of ARG, PRG, and SRG (all P < 0.001). Dynamic and robotic computer-aided implant surgery may show good implant accuracy in vitro. However, the accuracy and stability of implant robots are higher than those of dynamic navigation systems.

The study aimed to evaluate the impact of varying modulus of elasticity (MOE) values of dental implants on the deformation and von Mises stress distribution in implant systems and peri-implant bone tissues under dynamic cyclic loading. The implant-bone interface was characterised as frictional contact, and the initial stress was induced using the interference fit method to effectively develop a finite element model for an immediately loaded implant-supported denture. Using the Ansys Workbench 2021 R2 software, an analysis was conducted to examine the deformation and von Mises stress experienced by the implant-supported dentures, peri-implant bone tissue, and implants under dynamic loading across three simulated masticatory cycles. These findings were subsequently evaluated through a comparative analysis. The suprastructures showed varying degrees of maximum deformation across zirconia (Zr), titanium (Ti), low-MOE-Ti, and polyetheretherketone (PEEK) implant systems, registering values of 103.1 µm, 125.68 µm, 169.52 µm, and 844.06 µm, respectively. The Zr implant system demonstrated the lowest values for both maximum deformation and von Mises stress (14.96 µm, 86.71 MPa) in cortical bone. As the MOE increased, the maximum deformation in cancellous bone decreased. The PEEK implant system exhibited the highest maximum von Mises stress (59.12 MPa), whereas the Ti implant system exhibited the lowest stress (22.48 MPa). Elevating the MOE resulted in reductions in both maximum deformation and maximum von Mises stress experienced by the implant. Based on this research, adjusting the MOE of the implant emerged as a viable approach to effectively modify the biomechanical characteristics of the implant system. The Zr implant system demonstrated the least maximum von Mises stress and deformation, presenting a more favourable quality for preserving the stability of the implant-bone interface under immediate loading.
