RESUMO

Active layer material plays a critical role in promoting the performance of an organic solar cell (OSC). Small-molecule (SM) materials have the merits of well-defined chemical structures, few batch-to-batch variations, facile synthesis and purification procedures, and easily tuned properties. SM-donor and non-fullerene acceptor (NFA) innovations have recently produced all-small-molecule (ASM) devices with power conversion efficiencies that exceed 17% and approach those of their polymer-based counterparts, thereby demonstrating their great future commercialization potential. In this review, recent progress in both SM donors and NFAs to illustrate structure-property relationships and various morphology-regulation strategies are summarized. Finally, ASM-OSC challenges and outlook are discussed.

In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between salivary cortisol content and secondary mild cognitive impairment (MCI), thereby supporting the prediction of MCI in clinical practice. In this study, the salivary cortisol levels were examined in 120 patients with MCI after cerebral ischemic stroke (CIS) (CIS-MIC) and 80 CIS patients without MIC (CIS). The clinical data were compared among these patients with different cortisol levels. The salivary level of cortisol was significantly higher in patients with CIS-MIC (0.85-3.65 nmol/L) than that in those with CIS (0.52-1.21 nmol/L). The categorized analysis by CIS-MIC quartile showed that patient age, hyperlipidemia, total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), etc. were significantly increased with increasing salivary cortisol levels. Moreover, univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses revealed that the MCI risk of patients in the first quartile was 0.35 and 0.41 times, respectively, of the fourth quartile. Multiple linear regression showed that patient age, the time of rescue, and the salivary cortisol level were independent factors in the Mini-Mental State Exam (MMSE) score of MCI patients. Meanwhile, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve showed that the area under the curve of salivary cortisol as a diagnostic marker for MCI after CIS was 0.982, with sensitivity of 0.973 and specificity of 0.980. In this study, we found that salivary cortisol level was an independent risk factor of MCI after CIS. A higher salivary cortisol level indicated a higher probability of MCI occurrence, and salivary cortisol level can be used as a predictive marker for MCI occurrence.

Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), a vital protein for pregnancy determination and a marker for trophoblastic diseases, finds application in monitoring early pregnancy and ectopic pregnancy. This study presents an innovative approach employing electrochemical immunosensors for enhanced HCG detection, utilizing Anti-HCG antibodies and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) in the sensor platform. Two sensor configurations were optimized: BSA/Anti-HCG/c-AuNPs/MEL/e-AuNPs/SPCE with [Fe(CN)6]3-/4- as a redox probe (1) and BSA/Anti-HCG/PPy/e-AuNPs/SPCE using polypyrrole (PPy) as a redox probe (2). The first sensor offers linear correlation in the 0.10-500.00 pg∙mL-1 HCG range, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.06 pg∙mL-1, sensitivity of 32.25 µA∙pg-1∙mL∙cm-2, RSD <2.47 %, and a recovery rate of 101.03-104.81 %. The second sensor widens the HCG detection range (40.00 fg∙mL-1-5.00 pg∙mL-1) with a LOD of 16.53 fg∙mL-1, ensuring precision (RSD <1.04 %) and a recovery range of 94.61-106.07 % in serum samples. These electrochemical immunosensors have transformative potential in biomarker detection, offering enhanced sensitivity, selectivity, and stability for advanced healthcare diagnostics.

The stone cells in pear fruits cause rough flesh and low juice, seriously affecting the taste. Lignin has been demonstrated as the main component of stone cells. Auxin, one of the most important plant hormone, regulates most physiological processes in plants including lignification. However, the concentration effect and regulators of auxin on pear fruits stone cell formation remains unclear. Here, endogenous indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and stone cells were found to be co-localized in lignified cells by immunofluorescence localization analysis. The exogenous treatment of different concentrations of IAA demonstrated that the application of 200 µM IAA significantly reduced stone cell content, while concentrations greater than 500 µM significantly increased stone cell content. Besides, 31 auxin response factors (ARFs) were identified in pear genome. Putative ARFs were predicted as critical regulators involved in the lignification of pear flesh cells by phylogenetic relationship and expression analysis. Furthermore, the negative regulation of PbARF19 on stone cell formation in pear fruit was demonstrated by overexpression in pear fruitlets and Arabidopsis. These results illustrated that the PbARF19-mediated auxin signal plays a critical role in the lignification of pear stone cell by regulating lignin biosynthetic genes. This study provides theoretical and practical guidance for improving fruit quality in pear production.
