RESUMO

High-purity hydrogen is extensively employed in chemical vapor deposition, and the existence of methane impurity significantly impacts the device performance. Therefore, it is necessary to purify hydrogen to remove methane. The ZrMnFe getter commonly used in the industry reacts with methane at a temperature as high as 700 ∘C, and the removal depth is not sufficient. To overcome these limitations, Co partially substitutes Fe in the ZrMnFe alloy. The alloy was prepared by suspension induction melting method, and was characterized by means of XRD, ICP, SEM and XPS. The concentration of methane at the outlet was detected by gas chromatography to characterize the hydrogen purification performance of the alloy. The removal effect of the alloy on methane in hydrogen increases first and then decreases with the increase in substitution amount, and increases with the increase in temperature. Specifically, the ZrMnFe0.7Co0.3 alloy reduces methane levels in hydrogen from 10 ppm to 0.215 ppm at 500 ∘C. ZrMnFe0.7Co0.3 alloy can remove 50 ppm of methane in helium to less than 0.01 ppm at 450 ∘C, demonstrating its excellent methane reactivity. Moreover, Co substitution reduces the formation energy barrier of ZrC, and Co in the electron-rich state demonstrates superior catalytic activity for methane decomposition.

Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is an increasingly common bone-related adverse event in recent years. We reported 3 bone metastases of patients who developed MRONJ after receiving bisphosphonates therapy. All patients underwent surgical necrotic bone resection combined with leukocyte and platelet-rich fibrin concentrate (L-PRF) therapy. After 6 months of follow-up, no recurrence and adverse event has been observed. This report shows that treatment with necrotic bone resection and L-PRF is an effective therapy and should be considered as an alternative treatment for the management of advanced cases of MRONJ.

Ferrocene-based nanoporous organic polymer (Fc-NOP) was used as solid-phase extraction (SPE) adsorbent and showed excellent adsorption capacity for chlorophenols (CPs) compared with commercial C18 and multi-walled carbon nanotubes. Then, a SPE method with Fc-NOP packed cartridge combined with HPLC-UV detection was developed to determine CPs in tap water, black tea drinks and peach juice samples. Under optimal conditions, the detection limits of the method measured at the signal to noise ratio of 3 (S/N = 3) were 0.04-0.06 ng mL-1 for tap water and 0.10-0.20 ng mL-1 for black tea drinks and peach juice samples. Satisfactory method recoveries were achieved in the range of 87.6-119% with relative standard deviations of 3.11-7.83%. Result proved that this method was a sensitive and efficient method for determination of trace CPs in foods. The extraction result for more other compounds confirmed that the developed method had a great application potential for analysis of other trace pollutants in food samples.

PURPOSE: To report the results of enlarging orbital volume in consecutive cases of severe congenital microphthalmia by means of solid hydrophilic tissue expanders. METHODS: The medical records of consecutive patients with congenital microphthalmia who underwent the placement of a hydrogel expander were retrospectively reviewed. Main outcome measures were orbital tissue expansion, prosthetic retention, and patient family satisfaction. RESULTS: A total of 17 patients were included in the study. All patients were able to retain an ocular prosthesis. The horizontal palpebral length increased from 71.3% of the contralateral unaffected eye to 85.4% of the contralateral unaffected eye. The expansion of orbital volume was assessed in seven patients. The volume of the microphthalmic orbits was expanded from 74.7% of the contralateral unaffected orbits to 83.5% of the contralateral unaffected orbits. Aesthetic results were satisfactory to both physicians and patient families. The following complications were noted in two patients: inferior migration of a spherical expander occurred in one case; a hemispheric expander was removed by the patient in another case. CONCLUSIONS: Hydrogel implants can successfully expand the dimensions of the conjunctival sac and the orbit in cases of severe congenital microphthalmia.
