RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Midface rejuvenation is important to restore a youthful and appealing appearance. However, there are several problems existed in the treatment of fat grafting, including low fat retention and undesired aesthetic outcomes. OBJECTIVE: To objectively evaluate the efficacy of midface fat grafting, and analyze the problems encountered in this process to increase patient satisfaction. METHODS: Thirty-two patients who underwent autologous fat grafting for midface augmentation were included. Facial analysis was performed based on preoperative and postoperative photographs. Satisfaction outcome was assessed by the patient, the surgeon, and a layperson postoperatively. RESULTS: After treatment, 87.5% of the patients were assessed as satisfactory and mostly satisfactory based on facial proportion and complications. The postoperative medial cheek projection was 1.92±0.26 times the height of the preoperative one ( P <0.01). A smooth lid-cheek junction, a single convex, and ameliorated nasolabial groove were obtained. The dark coloration and wrinkles in lower eyelid were improved. The most common complication was overcorrection, which could be resolved with further treatments. CONCLUSIONS: Autologous fat grafting remains an optimal option for midface rejuvenation with satisfactory results. Most of the complications are preventable and optimal outcomes can be obtained through correct comprehension of aesthetic features and proper operations.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This study aims to observe and investigate the clinical value of scar loosening and tissue-expansive autologous skin grafting in the treatment of postburn scars and independent risk characteristics for surgery-related complications. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 94 cases with postburn scars, and all patients were treated with scar loosening and autologous skin grafting. Overall therapeutic effects were evaluated using the standard of cure and improvement of clinical diseases. Burn Specific Health Scale-brief was used to analyze patients' quality of life. The visual analog scale scores were used to analyze esthetic satisfaction. Surgery-related complications were recorded, and logistic regression model was used to analyze independent factors affecting surgery-related complications. RESULTS: As for overall efficacy evaluation, 50 cases were cured, 19 cases were markedly improved, 17 cases improved, and 8 cases were detected and tested, and the overall effective rate was 91.4%. The Burn Specific Health Scale-brief and visual analog scale score showed a trend of increasing gradually. It indicated that the patients were satisfied with the operation and their quality of life was improved. The logistic regression model showed that history of skin disease (OR=1.53 (1.08-2.16), P =0.02) and skin area (OR=2.50 (1.22-4.50), P <0.01) were significantly associated with surgery-related complications. CONCLUSIONS: Scar loosening and autologous skin grafting is a safe and effective treatment. The history of skin disease and skin area was the independent factors for surgery-related complications.

RESUMO

A facile one-step method for the synthesis of a water-soluble selenium/polypyrrole (Se/PPy) nanocomposite was developed. In the aqueous synthesis process, the pyrrole acted as a reductant for the reduction of H2SeO3, and then the elemental Se formed in situ acted as a catalyst for the polymerization of pyrrole. The characterization results show that the as-obtained composite (Se/PPy) is a spherical (Φ80 nm) product that is made up of amorphous Se particles coated by PPy layers. The formation mechanism and influence factors of the products were discussed, based on a series of experiments. It is proposed that remainder H2SeO3 adsorbed on the PPy chains increased the water-solubility and conductivity of the Se/PPy nanocomposite. Significantly, relying on the synergistic effect of photo-conductive Se nanoparticles and electric-conductive PPy molecules, the Se/PPy nanocomposite possesses a large two-photon absorption (2PA) cross-section and good optical limiting properties, which were demonstrated by the Z-scan technique using a femtosecond laser. We believe that this work should be an interesting strategy for developing polymer composites with excellent optoelectrical properties.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: To correct nasal tip cephalic rotation, SEG made of cartilage or Medpor are often used in rhinoplasty. These techniques require extensive experience for the surgeon, and not all patients can accept this procedure. In this research, we introduce a new method to correct nasal tip cephalic rotation that is relatively simple and rapid. METHODS: Fifty-nine patients who had rhinoplasty using our scaffold were enrolled in the study between January 2020 and January 2021. The authors evaluated the change of nasolabial angel by photogrammetry using standardized clinical photogrammetric techniques. Patients' satisfaction regarding postoperative results was also surveyed. RESULTS: The mean postoperative follow-up duration was 12 months. No complication (infection, extrusion, and displacement) was happened in all patients. Analysis showed our scaffold can correct nasal tip cephalic rotation effectively (98.61±1.21 preoperatively and 89.68±0.99 postoperatively, P<0.0001). And the patient satisfaction rate is 98%. CONCLUSION: We constructed an integrated scaffold by simply folding and suturing a high-density polyethylene sheet (Su-Por) sheet to correct nasal tip cephalic rotation. Using the scaffold we designed, we did not need to alter the structure of the nasal septum, which reduced the operative duration and simplified the surgical procedure.

RESUMO

The cobalt spectrum measurement was conducted with the experiment setup including a Nd : YAG Q-switched solid laser as the exciting light, and YG hard alloy as the sample. Experiments show that the 345. 35 nm sensitive spectral line intensity of Co in YG3 demonstrates a parabola trend with the increase in power density, and as the power density exceeds 1. 2 X 10(8) W x cm(-2), the spectrum intensity becomes stronger, and its deflection becomes less. The experiments on measuring Co concentration in YG hard alloy series show that the concentration of cobalt has a good linear relationship with its spectral intensity, the maximum relative error of measurement is 5. 08%, and the result is reliable with higher precision.

RESUMO

An experimental equipment has been set up for laser-induced plasma spectroscopic (LIPS) measurement based on a Nd: YAG Q-switched solid laser (average single pulse energy is 38 mJ) as exciting light source and the copper alloy as sample. The instrument time distribution of Cu radiation was obtained, and the software and hardware influence factors on the measured spectra were analyzed. The experiments proved that the fluctuation of laser output energy, average number of each datum, the position between the target surface and the lens focus, the position between the optical fiber bundle for receiving the radiation and the normal of the target surface, and the effective receiving area of the optical fiber bundle all influence the intensity of spectra and the reproducibility of measurement.

RESUMO

Biopsy of sentinel lymph node (SLN) has become a common practice to predict whether tumor metastasis has occurred, so proper SLN positioning tracers are highly required. Due to many drawbacks of SLN tracers currently used, developing ideal, biosafe SLN imaging agents is always an urgent issue. The current study designed a novel fluorescent nanoprobe for accurate SLN mapping. Dextran-based nanogel (DNG) was prepared through a highly efficient self-assembly assisted approach and serves as a multi-functional platform for conjugating wide spectra emitting fluorescent agents. The newly fabricated fluorescent DNG (FDNG) could be designed with optimum size and stable fluorescent intensity for specific SLN imaging. Furthermore, a long-term dynamic course in vivo (from 1 min to 72 h) revealed the satisfactory specificity, sensitivity, and stability for SLN mapping. Most importantly, both in vitro and in vivo evaluations indicated that FDNG had fine biosafety and biocompatibility with lymphatic endothelial cells. All these results supported that FDNG could be used as highly efficient molecular imaging probes for specific, sensitive, stable, non-invasive, and safe SLN mapping, which provides efficient and accurate location for SLN biopsy and thus predicts tumor metastasis as well as directs therapies. Besides, our recent studies further demonstrated that DNG could also serve as a specific and controllable drug carrier, indicating a potential application for specific therapies of various lymph-associated diseases.
