RESUMO

Fluoride is known to induce nephrotoxicity; however, the underlying mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Therefore, this study aims to explore the roles and mechanisms of lysosomal membrane permeabilization (LMP) and the GSDME/HMGB1 axis in fluoride-induced nephrotoxicity and the protective effects of rutin. Rutin, a naturally occurring flavonoid compound known for its antioxidative and anti-inflammatory properties, is primarily mediated by inhibiting oxidative stress and reducing proinflammatory markers. To that end, we established in vivo and in vitro models. In the in vivo study, rats were exposed to sodium fluoride (NaF) throughout pregnancy and up until 2 months after birth. In parallel, we employed in vitro models using HK-2 cells treated with NaF, n-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC), or rutin. We assessed lysosomal permeability through immunofluorescence and analyzed relevant protein expression via western blotting. Our findings showed that NaF exposure increased ROS levels, resulting in enhanced LMP and increased cathepsin B (CTSB) and D (CTSD) expression. Furthermore, the exposure to NaF resulted in the upregulation of cleaved PARP1, cleaved caspase-3, GSDME-N, and HMGB1 expressions, indicating cell death and inflammation-induced renal damage. Rutin mitigates fluoride-induced nephrotoxicity by suppressing ROS-mediated LMP and the GSDME/HMGB1 axis, ultimately preventing fluoride-induced renal toxicity occurrence and development. In conclusion, our findings suggest that NaF induces renal damage through ROS-mediated activation of LMP and the GSDME/HMGB1 axis, leading to pyroptosis and inflammation. Rutin, a natural antioxidative and anti-inflammatory dietary supplement, offers a novel approach to prevent and treat fluoride-induced nephrotoxicity.

Biochar-derived dissolved black carbon (DBC) molecules are dependent on the BC formation temperature and affect the fate of emerging contaminants in waters, such as polyvinyl chloride microplastic (MPPVC). However, the temperature-dependent evolution and MPPVC-interaction of DBC molecules remain unclear. Herein, we propose a novel DBC-MPPVC interaction mechanism by systematically interpreting heterogeneous correlations, sequential responses, and synergistic relationships of thousands of molecules and their linking functional groups. Two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy was proposed to combine Fourier transform-ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry and spectroscopic datasets. Increased temperature caused diverse DBC molecules and fluorophores, accompanied by molecular transformation from saturation/reduction to unsaturation/oxidation with high carbon oxidation states, especially for molecules with acidic functional groups. The temperature response of DBC molecules detected via negative-/positive-ion electrospray ionization sequentially occurred in unsaturated hydrocarbons → lignin-like → condensed aromatic → lipid-/aliphatic-/peptide-like → tannin-like → carbohydrate-like molecules. DBC molecular changes induced by temperature and MPPVC interaction were closely coordinated, with lignin-like molecules contributing the most to the interaction. Functional groups in DBC molecules with m/z < 500 showed a sequential MPPVC-interaction response of phenol/aromatic ether C-O, alkene C═C/amide C═O → polysaccharides C-O → alcohol/ether/carbohydrate C-O groups. These findings help to elucidate the critical role of DBCs in MP environmental behaviors.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical outcomes following extraction of impacted maxillary tooth adjacent to maxillary via submaxillary sinus membrane space approach. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Seventy-two patients were enrolled in our study. The positions of the maxillary impacted tooth were confirmed by cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Cases were randomly divided into two groups: the "submaxillary sinus membrane space approach" was applied in the new method (NM) group, and the conventional "avoid maxillary sinus membrane exposure" strategy was executed in the traditional method (TM) group. The clinical and follow-up data were recorded. RESULTS: The duration of the procedure in the TM group was significantly longer than those in the NM group (P < 0.05). Four teeth were accidentally displaced into the maxillary sinus with MSM perforation. The MSM perforation rate was slightly higher in the TM group than in the NM group, however, without significant difference between the two groups (8/36 vs. 3/36, P = 0.19). The maxillary sinus membrane perforation was associated with the displacement of tooth into the maxillary sinus (OR = 16.2, P = 0.026). The root tip exposure of the adjacent tooth was significantly higher in the TM group than in the NM group (10/36 vs. 1/36, P = 0.006). The incidence of reduced pulp vitality of the adjacent tooth was significantly higher in the TM group (10/36 vs. 1/36, P = 0.006), and it was associated with the exposure of the root tip intraoperatively (OR = 456.5, P < 0.001). The incidence of external root resorption was significantly lower in the NM group, and there was no significant association with the root exposure intraoperatively (OR = 3.7, P = 0.47). CONCLUSIONS: Submaxillary sinus membrane space approach is a safe and efficient approach in extraction of impacted maxillary tooth. It is an alternative way for cases which are in close proximity to the maxillary sinus. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: A novel method to extract impacted maxillary tooth adjacent to maxillary sinus.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical outcomes of the "Root Removal First" strategy in the surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molar (IMTM) in the class C and horizontal position. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 274 cases were finally included in the statistics. The positions of IMTM in the horizontal position were confirmed by cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Cases were randomly divided into two groups: the "Root Removal First" strategy was applied in the new method (NM) group, and the conventional "Crown Removal First" strategy was executed in the traditional method (TM) group. The clinical information and relevant data upon follow-up were recorded. RESULTS: The duration of the surgical removal and the incidence rates of lower lip paresthesia in the NM group were significantly lower than those in the TM group. The degree of mobility of the adjacent mandibular second molar (M2) in the NM group was significantly lower than that in the TM group at 30 days and 3 months post-operation. The distal and buccal probing depth of the M2, as well as the exposed root length of M2 in the NM group, were significantly lower than those in the TM group 3 months post-operation. CONCLUSIONS: The "Root Removal First" strategy can reduce the incidence rate of inferior alveolar nerve injury and periodontal complications of the M2 in the surgical removal of IMTM in class C and horizontal position with high efficiency. PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of lidocaine for patient controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA) in patients who underwent open hepatectomy. DESIGN: A retrospective analysis. METHODS: A total of 281 patients who underwent open hepatectomy from July 2018 to December 2018 were included. All patients were assigned into two groups: the lidocaine group (PCIA consisted of lidocaine, sufentanil, tramadol and granisetron) and the control group (PCIA consisted of sufentanil, tramadol and granisetron). The postoperative visual analogue scale (VAS) and complications (including respiratory depression, hypotension, nausea and vomiting, pruritus, numbness of the corners of the mouth, dizziness) between the groups were compared. FINDINGS: There were no significant differences between the characteristics, duration of surgery and anesthesia, and recovery of postoperative activity between the two groups. In the first 3 days after the operation, the postoperative VAS score of the lidocaine group was lower than that of the control group at resting state, while after activity, the postoperative VAS contrast results were completely opposite. In particularly, the resting state at 48 hours (h) (1.05 ± 1.25 vs 1.57 ± 1.54) after surgery and the activity state at 72 h (3.02 ± 1.51 vs 2.2 ± 1.66) after surgery (P < 0.05). The incidence of mouth numbness and dizziness were significantly increased in the lidocaine group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The addition of lidocaine in PCIA was not beneficial to improve the pain during activities and increased the incidence of perioral numbness and dizziness.

Removal of organic solvents and heavy metals in effluents is of great significance to environmental pollution control and ecological civilization construction. pH-responsive materials have unique advantages in treating complicated oily wastewater. In this work, an intelligent pH-responsive nonwoven fabric with excellent reversible wettability was prepared. The pH-sensitive polymer was synthesized by free radical polymerization (FRP) technique, then dipped with SiO2 on PP fabric. The particular molecular structure of poly (dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) (PDMAEMA) enabled the fabric surface to switch wettability rapidly between hydrophilic/underwater oleophobic and oleophobic/hydrophobic under pH stimulus and exhibit controllable selective separation of various oil/water mixtures. Furthermore, the fabric removed Pb2+ efficiently under a wide pH range. The experimetal results showed that the separation flux reached 19,229 ± 1656.43 L-h-1-m-2 for water and 19,342 ± 1796.77 L-m-2-h-1 for n-hexane. Besides, the obtained fabric effectively realized the separation and collection process of complex ternary mixtures. The fabric removed Pb2+ in solutions with efficiency up to 90.83%. After immersing in acid and alkali solutions for 24 h, no significant damage to the surface wettability. This economical and intelligent fabric is able to meet the different separation purposes of industrial wastewaters with complex compositions.

A bacterial strain, Gram-stain negative, rod-shaped, aerobic and cellulose-degrading, designated NEAU-DD11T, was isolated from rhizosphere soil of rice collected from Northeast Agricultural University in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, North-east China. Base on 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, strain NEAU-DD11T belongs to the genus Massilia and shared high sequence similarities with Massilia phosphatilytica 12-OD1T (98.46%) and Massilia putida 6NM-7 T (98.41%). Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene and whole genome sequences indicated that strain NEAU-DD11T formed lineage related to M. phosphatilytica 12-OD1T and M. putida 6NM-7 T. The major fatty acids of the strain were C16:0, C17:0-cyclo and C16:1ω7c. The respiratory quinone was Q-8. The polar lipids profile of the strain showed the presence of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, an unidentified polar lipid and an unidentified phospholipid. In addition, the digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain NEAU-DD11T and M. phosphatilytica 12-OD1T and M. putida 6NM-7 T were 45.4 and 35.6%, respectively, which are lower than the accepted threshold value of 70%. The DNA G + C content of strain NEAU-DD11T was 66.2%. The whole genome analysis showed the strain contained carbohydrate enzymes such as glycoside hydrolase and polysaccharide lyase, which enabled the strain to have the function of degrading cellulose. On the basis of the phenotypic, genotypic and chemotaxonomic characteristics, we conclude that strain NEAU-DD11T represents a novel species of the genus Massilia, for which the name Massilia cellulosiltytica sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is NEAU-DD11T (= CCTCC AB 2019141 T = DSM 109721 T).

Inspired by fish scales, this study prepares a thermo-responsive underwater oleophobic PNIPAM/PAN/TiO2 nanofibrous membranes by traditional electrospinning technique using poly-N-isopropylacrylamide (PNIPAM) and polyacrylonitrile (PAN). Thermal properties, mechanical properties, surface chemical composition, wettability, photocatalysis, and oil/water separation of PNIPAM/PAN/TiO2 membrane are explored compared to pure PNIPAM membrane. Result reveals that PAN/TiO2 compounds make PNIPAM membrane with a smaller fiber diameter of 141 nm and high tensile stress of 7.4 MPa, and also decompose 98% of rhodamine B after UV light radiation. This bioinspired design structure endows the membrane with superhydrophilicity with a low water contact angle, and underwater superoleophobicity with a high oil contact angle of 157° (petroleum ether) and 151° (dichloromethane). This membrane can efficiency separate oil/water mixture with a high separation efficiency. Moreover, the resultant PNIPAM/PAN/TiO2 membrane has the bionic fish scale structure, and has wettability respond at lower critical solution temperature making the water flux decreased from 10013 ± 367 L m-2·h-1 to 7713 ± 324 L m-2·h-1, and thus has a potential to be used in purification of reclaimed water and separation of oil from water.

Exosomes have attracted tremendous attention due to their important role in physiology, pathology, and oncology, as well as promising potential in biomedical applications. Although great efforts have been dedicated to investigating their biological properties and applications as natural cancer drug-delivery systems, the systemic biodistribution of exosomes remains underexplored. In addition, exosome-based drug delivery is inevitably hindered by the robust liver clearance, leading to suboptimal tumor retention and therapeutic efficiency. In this study, we report one of the first examples using in vivo positron emission tomography (PET) for noninvasive monitoring of copper-64 (64Cu)-radiolabeled polyethylene glycol (PEG)-modified exosomes, achieving excellent imaging quality and quantitative measurement of blood residence and tumor retention. PEGylation not only endowed exosomes with a superior pharmacokinetic profile and great accumulation in the tumor versus traditionally reported native exosomes but also reduced premature hepatic sequestration and clearance of exosomes, findings that promise enhanced therapeutic delivery efficacy and safety in future studies. More importantly, this study provides important guidelines about surface engineering, radiochemistry, and molecular imaging in obtaining accurate and quantitative biodistribution information on exosomes, which may benefit future exploration in the realm of exosomes.

A promising approach toward cancer therapy is expected to integrate imaging and therapeutic agents into a versatile nanocarrier for achieving improved antitumor efficacy and reducing the side effects of conventional chemotherapy. Herein, we designed a poly(d,l-lactic- co-glycolic acid) (PLGA)-based theranostic nanoplatform using the double emulsion solvent evaporation method (W/O/W), which is associated with bovine serum albumin (BSA) modifications, to codeliver indocyanine green (ICG), a widely used near-infrared (NIR) dye, and doxorubicin (Dox), a chemotherapeutic drug, for dual-modality imaging-guided chemo-photothermal combination cancer therapy. The resultant ICG/Dox co-loaded hybrid PLGA nanoparticles (denoted as IDPNs) had a diameter of around 200 nm and exhibited excellent monodispersity, fluorescence/size stability, and biocompatibility. It was confirmed that IDPNs displayed a photothermal effect and that the heat induced faster release of Dox, which led to enhanced drug accumulation in cells and was followed by their efficient escape from the lysosomes into the cytoplasm and drug diffusion into the nucleus, resulting in a chemo-photothermal combinatorial therapeutic effect in vitro. Moreover, the IDPNs exhibited a high ability to accumulate in tumor tissue, owing to the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect, and could realize real-time fluorescence/photoacoustic imaging of solid tumors with a high spatial resolution. In addition, the exposure of tumor regions to NIR irradiation could enhance the tumor penetration ability of IDPNs, almost eradicating subcutaneous tumors. In addition, the inhibition rate of IDPNs used in combination with laser irradiation against EMT-6 tumors in tumor-bearing nude mice (chemo-photothermal therapy) was approximately 95.6%, which was much higher than that for chemo- or photothermal treatment alone. Our study validated the fact that the use of well-defined IDPNs with NIR laser treatment could be a promising strategy for the early diagnosis and passive tumor-targeted chemo-photothermal therapy for cancer.

Quorum sensing (QS) is a signal sensing system by which bacteria monitor the density of their population, thus, targeting to QS system may be an alternative approach to control diverse cellular processes including the microbial contamination and the virulence of human and plant pathogens as bacteria have been evolving resistance to antibiotics. In this study, curcumin liposomes were prepared by film dispersion method to increase its bioavailability against QS systems of food-borne epathogenic bacteria, i.e. Aeromonas hydrophila and Serratia grimesii. And their physicochemical properties were measured including particle size, zeta-potential entrapment rate as well as drug-loading rate. Meanwhile, the effects of curcumin liposomes on QS phenomenon of food-borne pathogens including biofilm formation, extracellular protease, swimming motility et al. were determined. Results showed that the average diameter of curcumin liposomes was (207 ±â€¯8.2) nm and the entrapment rate and drug-loading rate were 82.71% and 23.33%. The zeta-potential of curcumin liposomes were (-37 ±â€¯1.56) mv. Curcumin liposomes showed uniform structures by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The curcumin liposomes could significantly inhibit QS systems of the two pathogens and the biological availability of curcumin has been improved.

A circlular structural-colored contact lens is reported, which is fabricated by replicating self-assembled colloidal photonic crystal templates. The structural-colored contact lenses not only display variable and brilliant color under light illumination, but also avoid the addition of any colorants to the hydrogel lenses and prevent the potential harm posed by traditional colored contact lenses.

High-fructose corn syrup-55 (HFCS-55) has been widely welcomed in recent years as a substitute for sucrose on the basis of its favourable properties and price. The objective of this study was to determine the influence of HFCS-55 on the expression of Streptococcus mutans UA159 virulence genes and on tooth demineralization. Real-time reverse-transcription PCR (real-time RT-PCR) and microhardness evaluations were performed to examine gene expression and enamel demineralization, respectively, after treatment with HFCS-55 and/or sucrose. Significant up-regulation of glucosyltransferase B (gtfB) by HFCS-55 was found. A mixture of HFCS-55 and sucrose could positively enhance expression of glucan-binding protein (gbp) genes. Regarding acidogenicity, expression of the lactate dehydrogenase (ldh) gene was unaffected by HFCS-55. A notable finding in this study was that 5% HFCS-55 significantly enhanced expression of the intracellular response gene of the two-component VicRK signal transduction system (vicR). Demineralization testing showed that the microhardness of teeth decreased by a greater extent in response to HFCS-55 than in response to sucrose. The results indicate that HFCS-55 can enhance S. mutans biofilm formation indirectly in the presence of sucrose and that HFCS-55 has a more acidogenic potential than does sucrose. Summing up the real-time PCR and demineralization results, HFCS-55 appears to be no less cariogenic than sucrose in vitro - at least, not under the conditions of our experiments.

Hydrogels have gained great attention and broad applications in tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and drug delivery due to their excellent biocompatibility and degradability. However, accurately and noninvasively characterizing the degradation process of hydrogels remains a challenge. To address this, we have developed a method using soft spring gauges (SSGs) for the in situ weighing of hydrogels. Our approach uses a simple hydrogel-based sacrificial template method to fabricate polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) SSGs. The SSGs used in this study can characterize hydrogels with a minimum wet weight of approximately 30 mg. Through theoretical derivations, numerical simulations, and experimental characterization, we confirmed that the length change of the SSGs in a buffer solution correlates linearly with the applied hanging weights. This allows us to track and assess the solid mass change of hydrogels during degradation with high feasibility and accuracy. Additionally, we have demonstrated the potential application of SSGs for the in situ characterization of engineered tissue growth. This method represents an advanced approach for in situ hydrogel weighing, holding great promise for advancing the development of hydrogels and other biomaterials in biomedical applications.

OBJECTIVE: The current dental resin composites often suffer from polymerization shrinkage, which can lead to microleakage and potentially result in recurring tooth decay. This study presents the synthesis of a novel monomer, (3,9-diethyl-1,5,7,11-tetraoxaspiro[5,5]undecane-3,9-diyl)bis(methylene) bis((2-(3-(prop-1-en-2-yl)phenyl)propan-2-yl)carbamate) (DDTU-IDI), and evaluates its effect in the formulation of low-shrinkage dental resin composites. METHODS: DDTU-IDI was synthesized through a two-step reaction route, with the initial synthesis of the required raw material monomer 3,9-diethyl-3,9-dihydroxymethyl-1,5,7,11-tetraoxaspiro-[5,5] undecane (DDTU). The structures were confirmed using Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonance (1HNMR) spectroscopy. Subsequently, DDTU-IDI was incorporated into Bis-GMA-based composites at varying weight percentages (5, 10, 15, and 20 wt%). The polymerization reaction, degree of conversion, polymerization shrinkage, mechanical properties, physicochemical properties and biocompatibility of the low-shrinkage composites were thoroughly evaluated. Furthermore, the mechanical properties were assessed after a thermal cycling test with 10,000 cycles to determine the stability. RESULTS: The addition of DDTU-IDI at 10, 15, and 20 wt% significantly reduced the polymerization volumetric shrinkage of the experimental resin composites, without compromising the degree of conversion, mechanical and physicochemical properties. Remarkably, at a monomer content of 20 wt%, the polymerization shrinkage was reduced to 1.83 ± 0.53%. Composites containing 10, 15, and 20 wt% DDTU-IDI exhibited lower water sorption and higher contact angle. Following thermal cycling, the composites exhibited no significant decrease in mechanical properties, except for the flexural properties. SIGNIFICANCE: DDTU-IDI has favorable potential as a component which could produce volume expansion and increase rigidity in the development of low-shrinkage dental resin composites. The development of low-shrinkage composites containing DDTU-IDI appears to be a promising strategy for reducing polymerization shrinkage, thereby potentially enhancing the longevity of dental restorations.

Compared with single signal readout, dual-signal readout commendably corrects the impact of systematic or background error, achieving more accurate results for the diagnosis of many diseases. This work aimed to design and prepare dual-emissive fluorescent probes for the construction of ratiometric fluorescence biosensors to detect liver disease biomarkers. Sodium alginate (SA) with numerous potential sub-fluorophores and active sites and 4,4',4'',4'''-(porphine-5,10,15,20-tetrayl) tetrakis (benzoic acid) (TCPP) with macrocyclic conjugated structures were introduced to prepare the carbonized polymer dots (CPDs) with red/blue dual emission based on the cross-linking enhanced emission (CEE) effect and the luminescence of macrocyclic conjugated structures. The ratiometric fluorescence sensing systems were constructed by integrating the specific response of CPDs to Cu2+ and the affinity difference of Cu2+ to substrates or products of enzymes. The sensing systems, CPDs/Cu2+/PPi and CPDs/Cu2+/BTCh, were designed to detect liver disease biomarkers, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), respectively. The limit of detection for ALP and BChE was 0.35 U/L and 0.19 U/L, respectively. The proposed sensors were successfully applied to human serum samples from different health stages with satisfactory recoveries. These results demonstrate the successful design of a novel dual-emissive fluorescent probe and provide a feasible strategy for clinical detection.

Hydrogels have become promising materials for food packaging due to their unique microstructure. However, hydrogel materials suitable for seafood preservation have rarely been reported. In this study, a tamarind polysaccharide-polyvinyl alcohol hydrogel with the ability to maintain seafood freshness was prepared and characterized. The hydrogel possesses quick self-healing, good tissue fitting, and freezing tolerance capability. Moreover, a peeling force of only 0.1 N between the hydrogel and the fillet tissue confirmed the non-stick properties. The FTIR characteristic peak at 1600 cm-1 and 1450 cm-1 proved the ester bond-based chemical cross-linking of the hydrogel. Release profiles at pH 6.0 to 8.0 verified the pH-responsive release of quorum-quenching (QQ) enzymes over 120 h, which enabled the hydrogel to achieve biofilm and protease inhibitory activities. In vivo spoilage tests showed that the shelf life of hydrogel-coated red snapper fillets was extended by >3 days. These results illustrate the potential of the prepared hydrogel as functional packaging for seafood preservation.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) damages signal connections and conductions, with the result that neuronal circuits are disrupted leading to neural dysfunctions. Such injuries represent a serious and relatively common central nervous system condition and current treatments have limited success in the reconstruction of nerve connections in injured areas, especially where sizeable gaps are present. Biomaterial scaffolds have become an effective alternative to nerve transplantation in filling these gaps and provide the foundation for simulating the 3D structure of solid organs. However, there remain some limitations with the application of 3D bioprinting for preparation of biomaterial scaffolds. Here, the approach in constructing and testing mini-tissue building blocks and self-assembly, solid 3D gelatin microsphere (GM) scaffolds with multiple voids as based on the convenient preparation of gelatin microspheres by microfluidic devices is described. These 3D GM scaffolds demonstrate suitable biocompatibility, biodegradation, porosity, low preparation costs, and relative ease of production. Moreover, 3D GM scaffolds can effectively bridge injury gaps, establish nerve connections and signal transductions, mitigate inflammatory microenvironments, and reduce glial scar formation. Accordingly, these 3D GM scaffolds can serve as a novel and effective bridging method to promote nerve regeneration and reconstruction and thus recovery of nerve function after SCI.

Photoactivating dental resin composites have been the most prevailing material for repairing dental defects in various clinical scenarios due to their multiple advantages. However, compared to other restorative materials, the surface of resin-based composites is more susceptible to plaque biofilm accumulation, which can lead to secondary caries and restoration failure. This study introduced different weight fractions (1, 2, 5, 10, and 15%) of magnesium oxide nanoparticles (MgONPs) as antibacterial fillers into dental resin composites. Multifarious properties of the material were investigated, including antibacterial activity against a human salivary plaque-derived biofilm, cytotoxicity on human gingival fibroblasts, mechanical and physicochemical properties as well as the performance when subjected to thermocycling aging treatment. Results showed that the incorporation of MgONPs significantly improved the composites' anti-biofilm capability even at a low amount of 2 wt % without compromising the mechanical, physicochemical, and biocompatibility performances. The results of the thermocycling test suggested certain of aging resistance. Moreover, a small amount of MgONPs possibly made a difference in enhancing photoactivated polymerization and increasing the curing depth of experimental resin composites. Overall, this study highlights the potential of MgONPs as an effective strategy for developing antibacterial resin composites, which may help mitigating cariogenic biofilm-associated secondary caries.
