RESUMO

Ultrasonic nondestructive testing (NDT) provides a valuable insight into the integrity of stainless steel structures, but the noise caused by the scattering of stainless steel microstructure often limits the effectiveness of inspection. This work presents a novel adaptive filtering approach to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of a measured ultrasonic signal from the inspection of a stainless steel component, enabling the detection of hidden flaws under strong noise. After the spectral modeling of the noisy ultrasonic NDT signal, the difference between the spectral characteristics of a flaw echo and that of grain noise is highlighted, and a reference spectrum model to estimate the frequency spectrum of the echo reflected by any possible flaw is developed. Then, the signal is segmented and the similarity between the spectra of data segments and the reference spectra is evaluated quantitatively by the spectral similarity index (SSI). Based on this index, an adaptive time-frequency filtering scheme is proposed. Each data segment is processed by the filtering to suppress the energy of noise. The processed data segments are recombined to generate the de-noised signal after multiplying weighting coefficients, which again is determined by the SSI. The performance of the proposed method for SNR enhancement is evaluated by both the simulated and experimental signal and the effectiveness has been successfully demonstrated.

RESUMO

The objective of this study was to design and evaluate azilsartan osmotic pump tablets. Preformulation properties of azilsartan were investigated for formulation design. Azilsartan osmotic pump tablets were prepared by incorporation of drug in the core and subsequent coating with cellulose acetate and polyethylene glycol 4000 as semi-permeable membrane, then drilled an orifice at the center of one side. The influence of different cores, compositions of semipermeable membrane and orifice diameter on azilsartan release were evaluated. The formulation of core tablet was optimized by orthogonal design and the release profiles of various formulations were evaluated by similarity factor (f2). The optimal formulation achieved to deliver azilsartan at an approximate zero-order up to 14 h. The pharmacokinetic study was performed in beagle dogs. The azilsartan osmotic pump tablets exhibited less fluctuation in blood concentration and higher bioavailability compared to immediate-release tablets. Moreover, there was a good correlation between the in vitro dissolution and in vivo absorption of the tablets. In summary, azilsartan osmotic pump tablets presented controlled release in vitro, high bioavailability in vivo and a good in vitro-in vivo correlation.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: PEG-rhG-CSF reduces neutropenia and improves chemotherapy safety. In China's registration trial (CFDA: 2006L01305), we assessed its efficacy and safety against rhG-CSF, and prospectively explored its value over multiple cycles of chemotherapy. METHODS: In this open-label, randomized, multicenter phase 3 study, breast cancer patients (n = 569) were randomized to receive PEG-rhG-CSF 100 µg/kg, PEG-rhG-CSF 6 mg, or rhG-CSF 5 µg/kg/d after chemotherapy. The primary endpoints were the incidence and duration of grade 3/4 neutropenia during cycle 1. Secondary endpoints included the incidence and duration of grade 3/4 neutropenia during cycles 2-4, the incidence of febrile neutropenia, and the safety. RESULTS: A once-per-cycle PEG-rhG-CSF at either 100 µg/kg or 6 mg was not different from daily injections of rhG-CSF for either incidence or duration of grade 3/4 neutropenia. Interestingly, a substantial difference was noted during cycle 2, and the difference became bigger over cycles 3-4, reaching a statistical significance at cycle 4 in either incidence (P = 0.0309) or duration (P = 0.0289) favoring PEG-rhG-CSF. A significant trend toward a lower incidence of all-grade adverse events was noted at 129 (68.98%), 142 (75.53%), and 160 (82.47%) in the PEG-rhG-CSF 100 µg/kg and 6 mg and rhG-CSF groups, respectively (P = 0.0085). The corresponding incidence of grade 3/4 drug-related adverse events was 2/187 (1.07%), 1/188 (0.53%), and 8/194 (4.12%), respectively (P = 0.0477). Additionally, PFS in metastatic patients preferred PEG-rhG-CSF to rhG-CSF despite no significance observed by Kaplan-Meier analysis (n = 49, P = 0.153). CONCLUSIONS: PEG-rhG-CSF is a more convenient and safe formulation and a more effective prophylactic measure in breast cancer patients receiving multiple cycles of chemotherapy.

RESUMO

An innovative self-healing polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) elastomer, namely, PDMS-TFB, is reported by incorporating the reversibly dynamic imine bond as the self-healing points into the PDMS networks. The PDMS-TFB elastomer features good optical transmittance (80%) in full visible light region, high stretchability (≈700%), and excellent autonomous self-healing ability at room temperature. Surprisingly, the self-healing behavior can take place in water and even at a temperature as low as -20 °C in air, showing a promising outlook for broader applications. As a proof-of-concept, this study demonstrates the use of the PDMS-TFB elastomer for preparing anticorrosion coating and adhesive layer, and also the use of such an elastomer to be the platform for fabricating the flexible interconnector and chemical sensor. Remarkably, no significant difference is observed between the pristine and healed samples. Taking full advantage of these unique properties, it is anticipated that such a PDMS-TFB elastomer shows wide applications in the fields of materials science, electronics, biology, optics, etc.

RESUMO

Nanoscaled two-dimensional (2D) chiral architectures are increasingly receiving scientific interest, because of their potential applications in many domains. In this paper, we present a new method for constructing 2D chiral architectures on surface. Based on in situ Schiff-base reaction of achiral dialdehyde with two types of achiral amines at the solid/liquid interface, two chiral species have been directly formed and confirmed by means of a scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) technique. This work introduces a novel strategy to construct 2D surface chirality, which might be applied in fabricating functional films and nanoelectronic devices.
