BACKGROUND: Physical therapy is the preferred conservative treatment for patients with temporomandibular disorder (TMD). However, few studies have investigated the application of physical therapy in adolescents, especially follow-up studies on the long-term prognosis of these patients. This study investigated the short-term effects and long-term prognosis of physical therapy in adolescent patients with TMD and the factors influencing long-term symptoms. METHODS: Information regarding baseline data, specific treatment methods, treatment times and evaluation results was collected retrospectively for adolescent patients with TMD who received physical therapy. Patients were followed up via telephone and online questionnaires, and the influence of age, sex, disease course, mouth opening, pain intensity, oral parafunctional habits and treatment methods on long-term symptoms was analysed. RESULTS: Pain intensity, maximum mouth opening and the joint noise score improved significantly in 270/286 patients who received individualised comprehensive physical therapy. TMD-related symptoms improved with no noticeable impact on daily life in 187/199 patients who were followed up for an extended period (average, 30.71 ± 10.86 months) and were divided into asymptomatic or symptomatic groups according to the persistence of symptoms. Logistic regression analysis revealed that uncorrected oral parafunctional habits and fewer treatments were related to long-term symptoms. CONCLUSION: The long-term prognosis of adolescent patients with TMD after physical therapy was satisfactory. However, 52.8% of the patients experienced persistent TMD-related symptoms for an extended period, possibly due to insufficient treatment times and parafunctional habits. BACKGROUND: The mental health of patients with temporomandibular disorder or other jaw dysfunction is a primary concern in clinical practice, but the extent of these symptoms in this patient subset is not yet well understood. OBJECTIVES: This cross-sectional study aimed to compare the mental health and jaw function between patients with anterior disc displacement with reduction (ADDWR) and healthy individuals. METHODS: In total, 170 patients with ADDWR and 163 healthy participants enrolled in this study from March 2020 to December 2021. All participants completed a single assessment, including a pain rating and several questionnaires to assess jaw dysfunction, depression, and anxiety. All scores and the grade distribution of somatization, depression and anxiety were analysed between groups. RESULTS: Significant differences were found in measures of pain, jaw function and somatization; the ADDWR group had significantly higher pain and functional jaw limitations than the healthy group. The grade distribution of somatic symptoms also differed between groups: the distribution of patients who reported mild and above scores in the ADDWR group was significantly higher than that of the healthy group. Depression and anxiety scores or grade distributions were not significantly different by group. CONCLUSION: The jaw function of patients seeking treatment for ADDWR was lower than that of non-TMD individuals. They did not show high anxiety and depression symptoms, but their somatic symptoms were more apparent.

BACKGROUND: Degenerative joint disease (DJD) of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is an important type of temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) potentially leading to orofacial pain and jaw dysfunction. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is important in TMD diagnosis; however, its diagnostic ability for DJD remains unknown. OBJECTIVE: To explore the utility of MRI in diagnosing DJD according to the latest diagnostic criteria for TMD and detecting condylar bone abnormalities and their severity. METHODS: Overall, 122 participants were examined using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and MRI. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of MRI for detecting DJD and different types of TMJ condylar bone abnormalities were calculated (considering CBCT as gold standard); in addition, we tested MRI and CBCT's consistency in scoring five types of condylar bone abnormalities. RESULTS: The sensitivity and specificity of MRI for DJD were 95.3% and 43.1%, respectively. The MRI sensitivities for condylar flattening, erosion, osteophytes, sclerosis and cysts were 98.6%, 96.2%, 79.4%, 50%, and 79.2% (specificity, 53.6%, 48.3%, 81.6%, 83.3%, and 88.2%, respectively), respectively. The consistency between MRI and CBCT in assessing the severity of condylar bone abnormalities was fair-to-moderate (kappa coefficient: 0.278-0.491). The inter-observer consistency for CBCT was good, whereas for MRI, it was relatively poor. CONCLUSION: MRI can detect DJD and condylar bone abnormalities. However, MRI could not efficiently detect the severity of condylar bone abnormalities.

BACKGROUND: There is a lack of consensus regarding the best treatment option, including physical exercise, available for temporomandibular degenerative joint disease (DJD) that affect the older patients. Herein, we aimed to study and compare the efficacy of a combined approach using injection and home physical exercise with physical therapy alone as well as explored an optimal treatment strategy for older patients with DJD. METHODS: We included 213 older patients with DJD treated at our medical centre from June 2020 to June 2021, 64 of whom were selected for analysis. Of these 64 patients, 32 received injections combined with home physical exercise, and the other 32 received physical therapy alone. Propensity score matching was used to ensure that the two groups did not differ significantly in categorical and continuous variables. Measurements included pain intensity, maximum mouth opening, joint crepitus, jaw functional limitation scale (JFLS) scores, treatment times, and treatment durations. Improvement in each measurement was compared between the two groups 2, 4, and 12 weeks after the treatment commenced, as were the final treatment times and durations. RESULTS: Pain intensity, maximum mouth opening, and JFLS scores in the two groups improved 2, 4, and 12 weeks after treatment (all p < 0.05). The crepitus ratio improved significantly only in the combined treatment group after 12 weeks. Compared with the physical therapy group, pain while opening the mouth improved after 2, 4, and 12 weeks in the combined treatment group. Furthermore, 2 weeks after treatment, the physical therapy group showed significant improvement in maximal mouth opening compared with the combined treatment group. No significant between-group differences were observed regarding improvement in joint crepitus and JFLS scores at each observation point. The combined treatment group had a significantly lower number of visits than the physical therapy group; however, the treatment duration was longer. CONCLUSION: Compared with physical therapy, pain while opening the mouth is significantly improved by the combined treatment within 12 weeks, and the number of required visits is fewer. Physical therapy improves the patients' mouth-opening capabilities in a short time (2 weeks), and the treatment cycle is short.

Aggregation-induced emission (AIE) luminogens with highly tunable properties show great potential for many applications. In this study, we synthesized a new family of AIE-type poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(9-anthrylmethyl lysine) (PEG-b-PLys-An) diblock copolymers by taking advantage of amphiphilic self-assembly and rigid helical backbones. These copolymers can self-assemble into various assemblies through nanoprecipitation methods. The micelles using N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) as a cosolvent present brighter fluorescence than the vesicles prepared from tetrahydrofuran (THF). We demonstrate that the decreased solubility of copolymers in DMF results in the formation of more compact micelles with more excimer formation during the self-assembly process, while better solvent THF favors the formation of vesicles with stretched core chains. In addition, the secondary conformation of the polypeptide block shows pronounced effects on the fluorescence property. We further show the internalization of the assemblies using two types of cells by cellular uptake experiments. By the delicate design of the block copolymer, we successfully prepare the morphology- and conformation-dependent AIE materials for potential biomedical applications.

BACKGROUND There is no consensus on the association between body posture and temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). This study aimed to assess differences in static balance between healthy participants and patients with temporomandibular joint disc displacement without reduction. MATERIAL AND METHODS Sixteen patients with temporomandibular joint disc displacement without reduction and 14 healthy participants were included. Static balance tests were performed in the rest and "cotton rolls" (participants biting 2 cotton rolls with their upper and lower teeth) mandibular positions. The mean body's center of gravity (COG) sway velocity was tested in each mandibular position on a firm surface with and without eyes open and on a foam surface with and without eyes open. RESULTS The COG sway velocity did not differ between the TMD and healthy groups regarding mandibular position or testing condition (P>0.05). However, in the control group, the COG sway velocity in the mandibular rest position was significantly higher than that in the "cotton rolls" mandibular position when standing on a foam surface with the eyes closed (P=0.024). In the TMD group, there was no difference in the COG sway velocity between the 2 mandible positions under any condition (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS This study provides new evidence for static balance alterations in patients with temporomandibular joint disc displacement without reduction. Further studies are needed to investigate postural control changes in patients with arthrogenous TMDs. This study was registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (no. ChiCTR1800018369).

BACKGROUND: The effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection combined with physical therapy for the treatment of temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJ-OA) has not been studied. OBJECTIVES: To assess the effectiveness of PRP injection combined with individualised comprehensive physical therapy for the treatment of TMJ-OA. METHODS: This prospective cohort study included 40 patients with TMJ-OA who received PRP injection or PRP injection combined with individualised comprehensive physical therapy. Pain intensity, maximum mouth opening, temporomandibular joint sounds, and the Jaw Functional Limitation Scale (JFLS) scores and imaging findings were compared before treatment and during follow-up. RESULTS: The pain intensity, maximum mouth opening, and temporomandibular joint sounds of the two groups significantly improved with an increase in treatment time (p < .05). The pain improvement in the combined treatment group was greater than that in the PRP injection group at 3 and 6 months (p < .05). The improvement of mouth opening was better in the combined treatment group, whereas the improvement of joint sounds was better in the PRP injection group. The improvement in JFLS scores in the combined treatment group was greater than that in the PRP injection group at 6 months (p < .05). The imaging improvement rates of the two groups were similar. CONCLUSIONS: Platelet-rich plasma injection can significantly improve pain, mouth opening, abnormal joint sound, and mandibular function in patients with TMJ-OA and has good repair effect on condylar bone defects. PRP injection combined with individualised comprehensive physical therapy can effectively control the medium- and long-term pain of patients.

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to investigate the association of oral behaviors (OBs) with anxiety, depression, and jaw function in patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) in China. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 537 patients diagnosed with TMD were included in this study (average age, 31.55±12.08 years; 86 men [16.0%] and 451 women [84.0%]). There were 31 cases of masticatory muscle pain, 459 cases of disc displacement, and 13 cases of arthralgia/arthrosis, and 34 cases were uncategorized. Patients were assessed using the Oral Behaviors Checklist (OBC), Jaw Functional Limitation Scale (JFLS), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) scale, and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). The relationships between OBC scores and mouth opening, pain scores, JFLS, PHQ-9, and GAD-7 were evaluated with Spearman's correlation analysis. The median TMD symptom duration was 3 (0.5-154) months; men and women did not differ significantly in symptom duration or in the number of episodes of depression and anxiety. RESULTS The following OBs were common in patients with TMDs: "putting pressure on the jaw (52.9%)", "chewing food on 1 side (47.5%)", and "holding teeth together during activities other than eating (33.3%)". The OBC scores were significantly correlated with the JFLS, PHQ-9, and GAD-7 scores (P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS Patients with TMDs exhibit specific OBs, which are associated with depression, anxiety, and jaw function. It is necessary to further investigate the interaction of OBs with depression and anxiety in the development of TMDs.

BACKGROUND: Oro-facial function is usually impaired by temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). Several studies on TMDs have used the Jaw Functional Limitation Scale (JFLS) to assess mandibular dysfunction. However, it was originally created in English and hence needs to be validated for use among Chinese people. OBJECTIVE: To develop a Chinese version of the JFLS for Chinese TMD patients and to investigate the validity and reliability of the scale. METHODS: Content validity and temporal stability were evaluated at two different occasions. The reliability and validity of the JFLS were tested in 483 TMD patients. Cronbach's alpha coefficient and split-half reliability were used to assess internal consistency, while the validity was evaluated by factor analysis. RESULTS: Three factors were extracted during exploratory factor analysis, accounting for 62.39% of the variance. The three-factor model was then measured using confirmatory factor analysis (χ2 /df = 3.6, root mean square error of approximation = 0.091, comparative fit index = 0.896). Internal (coefficient alpha values of .906 for all items and Guttman split-half reliability of 0.756) and test-retest (intra-class correlation coefficient = .851-.897, 95% confidence interval = 0.656-0.950) reliabilities were excellent. CONCLUSION: The Chinese version of the JFLS is reliable and valid for use in Chinese TMD patients.

A novel polyamide (PA) thin film nanocomposite (TFN) membrane modified with Beta (ß) zeolite was prepared by interfacial polymerization on a poly (ether sulfone) (PES) ultrafiltration membrane. Compared with the PA thin film composite (TFC) membrane, the introduction of ß zeolite with porous structure notably increased the water flux of TFN membrane. Because the ß zeolite with tiny-sized and well-defined inner-porous acted as prior flow channels for water molecules and a barrier for the sulfate ions. The successful introduction of ß zeolite into the (PA) selective layer and their dispersion in the corresponding layer were verified by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Water contact angle, zeta potential measurements were used to characterize the changes of membrane surface properties before and after incorporating the ß zeolite. With the ß zeolite introducing, the water contact angle of modified TFN membrane was decreased to 47.8°, which was benefited to improve the water flux. Meanwhile, the negative charges of the modified TFN membrane was increased, resulting in an enhancement of separation effect on SO42- and Cl-. In term of nanofiltration (NF) experiments, the highest pure water flux of the TFN membranes reached up to 81.22 L m-2 hr-1 under operating pressure of 0.2 MPa, which was 2.5 times as much as the pristine TFC membrane.

Efficient cycling of Fe3+/Fe2+ is a key step for the Fenton reaction. In this exploration, from microalgae, we have prepared a novel Fe-N-graphene wrapped Al2O3/pentlandite composite which showed high Fenton catalytic ability through accelerating of Fe3+ reduction. The catalyst exhibits high activity, good reusability along with stability, and wide adaptation for the organics degradation under neutral pH. High TON and H2O2 utilization efficiency have also reached by this catalyst. Characterization results disclose a unique structure that the layered Fe-N-graphene structure tightly covers on Al2O3/pentlandite particles. Mechanistic evidence suggests that the accelerated Fe3+/Fe2+ redox cycle originates from the enhanced electron transfer by the synergistic effect of Fe, Ni and Al in the catalyst, and it causes the low H2O2 consumption and high •OH generation rate. Moreover, organic radicals formed in the Fenton process also participate in the Fe3+ reduction, and this process may be accelerated by the N doped graphene through a quick electron transfer. These findings stimulate an approach with great potential to further extend the synthetic power and versatility of Fenton catalysis through N doped graphene in catalysts.

BACKGROUND: Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) is most frequently caused by Enterovirus71 (EV-A71) or Coxsackie virus A16 (CV-A16), infants and young children are at greatest risk. Describing the epidemiology of HFMD can help develop and better target interventions, including the use of pediatric EV-A71 vaccination. METHODS: We obtained data from the national surveillance system for HFMD cases with onset dates from 2009 to 2015. We defined probable cases as patient with skin papular or vesicular rashes on the hands, feet, mouth, or buttocks and confirmed cases as patients with the above symptoms along with laboratory-based enterovirus detection. We generated overall and age-specific annual incidence rates and described the temporal variability and seasonality of HFMD in Qinghai Province. We identified spatial clustering of HFMD incidence at the county level using the Local Indicator of Spatial Associationand an alpha level of 0.05. RESULTS: During the study period, 14,480 HFMD probable or confirmed cases were reported in Qinghai Province. Of the 2158 (14.9%) with laboratory confirmation, 924 (42.6%) were caused by CV-A16 and 830 (38.2%) were caused by EV-A71. The majority (89%) of all case-patients were ≤ 5 years of age and male (61.5%). The overall mean annual HFMD incidence rate was 36.4 cases per 100,000 populations, while the incidence rate for children ≤5 years of age was 379.5 cases per 100,000. Case reports peaked during the months of May through July. HFMD was predominantly caused by EV-A71, except in 2010 and 2014 when CV-A16 was the predominant causative agent. High incidence rates of HFMD were clustered (Moran's I = 0.59, P < 0.05) in the eastern region of the province. CONCLUSION: HFMD remains an important cause of childhood disease in Qinghai Province, occurring in an acyclical pattern of increased incidence, primarily due to CV-A16 circulation every three years. Incidence is also seasonal and tends to spatially cluster in the eastern region of the province. Since approximately 40% of confirmed HFMD cases were due to EV-A71, EV-A71 vaccination is likely to have a positive impact on the HFMD disease burden. Routine analysis of local surveillance data is crucial for describing disease occurrence and changes in etiology.

In previous studies of hand, foot, and mouth disease patients fatally infected with enterovirus 71 (EV71), the distribution of viral protein, but not the genome, was determined. To understand the pathogenesis of EV71, however, it is important to investigate the spread of the viral genome. There have been no pathological studies of in situ EV71 viral RNA in inflammatory cells infiltrating various tissues of fatal cases. We therefore first investigated the distribution and classification of inflammatory cells in various tissues and then performed in situ EV71 RNA hybridization in these tissues to better understand the pathogenesis of EV71 infection. EV71 RNA was found mainly in inflammatory cells infiltrating the central nervous system (CNS), intestines, lungs, and tonsils. Most EV71 RNA-positive inflammatory cells in the CNS were macrophages/microglia and neutrophils infiltrating the perivascular cuffing, microglial nodule, neuronophagia, and meninges. CD68+ macrophages and CD15+ neutrophils were diffusely distributed in tissues with severe pathological changes. This study demonstrates the presence of EV71 RNA in inflammatory cells infiltrating tissues in fatally infected patients. Our findings suggest that fatal EV71 infection with extensive infiltration of macrophages/microglia and neutrophils into the CNS results in severe neurological lesions.

Vaccination represents the most economic and effective strategy of preventing influenza pandemics. We previously demonstrated that intranasal immunization of mice with recombinant hemagglutinin and the mast cell activator C48/80 elicited protective immunity against challenge with the 2009 pandemic H1N1 influenza in mice, demonstrating that the novel C48/80 mucosal adjuvant was safe and effective. The present study demonstrated that intranasal immunization with inactivated H1N1 virus and C48/80 elicited protective immunity against lethal challenge with homologous virus, however, when the immunogen was replaced with inactivated H5N1 virus protection was lost. These observations suggested that the adjuvant effects conferred by C48/80 were virus subtype specific and that its use as a broad-spectrum adjuvant for use in immunizations against all influenza viruses needs to be further analyzed.

RESUMO

Nanotubular titania film was prepared in situ on titanium wire and was used as the fiber substrate for solid-phase microextraction (SPME) because of its high surface-to-volume ratio, easy preparation, and mechanical stability. Three different functional coatings, ß-cyclodextrin (ß-CD), ß-cyclodextrin-co-poly(ethylenepropylene glycol) (ß-CD/PEG), and polyethylene glycol (PEG)-based sorbents were chemically bonded to the nanostructured wire surface via sol-gel technology to further enhance the absorbing capability and extraction selectivity. Coupled to gas chromatography-flame ionic detection (GC-FID), the prepared SPME fibers were investigated using diverse compounds. The results indicated that the fibers showed good mechanical strength, excellent thermal stability, and wonderful capacity and selectivity to polar compounds, including polar aromatic compounds, alcohols, and ketones. Combining the superior hydrophilic property of a bonded functional molecule and the highly porous structure of a fiber coating, the prepared PEG-coated SPME fiber showed much higher adsorption affinity to ephedrine and methylephedrine than ß-CD and ß-CD/PEG fibers. The as-established PEG-coated SPME-GC analytical method provided excellent sensitivity (LODs, 0.004 and 0.001 ng mL(-1) for ephedrine and methylephedrine, respectively) and better linear range (0.01-2 000 µg L(-1)). In addition, it has surprising repeatability and reproducibility. Finally, the present approach was used to analyze ephedrine and methylephedrine from real urine samples, and reliable results were obtained.

OBJECTIVE: We aimed to describe jaw function characteristics in patients with anterior disc displacement without reduction (ADDWoR) using the jaw function limitation scale (JFLS), and to investigate the effects of biopsychosocial risk factors on limited jaw function. DESIGN: In this cross-sectional study of 636 patients with ADDWoR (females, 568; males, 68), we used the JFLS to assess jaw function. Behavioral, psychological, sociodemographic, and biomedical data were collected. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to determine risk factors affecting limited jaw function. A receiver operating characteristic curve was used to evaluate the predictive effect of these risk factors. RESULTS: ADDWoR-associated limitations included restricted jaw mobility and mastication, which exceeded median global functional limitations scale scores, especially mouth opening to bite an apple and chewing tough food. Females had greater limitations in jaw mobility, verbal and emotional communication, and overall. Multivariate logistic regression analysis findings indicated that oral behaviors, anxiety, sex, pain intensity, and maximal mouth opening (MMO) were predictive of limited jaw function (area under the curve, 72 %). CONCLUSION: Patients with ADDWoR reported mastication and jaw mobility restrictions, with females having more pronounced limitations, and specific risk factors identified as significant predictors of jaw function limitations. Along with pain relief and improvement in MMO, appropriate psychological counseling and oral behavioral correction facilitates recovery of jaw function in such patients.

Cell surface glycans are a class of sophisticated biomolecules related to cancer development and progression, and their analysis is of great significance for early cancer diagnosis and treatment. In this paper, we proposed a fluorescence assay to evaluate glycan expression on living cancer cells based on a competitive strategy coupled with dual-functionalized nanobiocomposites. The competitive assay was conducted between living cancer cells and thiomannosyl derivatives using concanavalin A (Con A)-modified electrode as the interaction platform. To impart fluorescence signaling ability to competitive derivatives, quantum dots (QDs) were anchored on BSA-protected Au nanoparticles, and thiomannosyl derivatives were further immobilized on the nanoparticle surface through Au-S binding. Due to the spacing between QDs and Au nanoparticles by BSA, the {QDs-Au-BSA-mannose} nanobiocomposites maintained the fluorescence of QDs and showed binding ability with the Con A-modified electrode. Au nanorods (AuNRs)-modified electrode was used as an effective substrate to immobilize Con A. This assay was successfully applied to the analysis of two cancer cells lines (A549 and QGY-7701). The method is simple and shows promise for the study of glycan expression on living cancer cells.

A polymeric ionic liquid modified stainless steel wire for solid-phase microextraction was reported. Mercaptopropyl-functionalized stainless steel wire that was formed by co-condensation of tetramethoxysilane and 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane via a sol-gel process, which is followed by in situ surface radical chain-transfer polymerization of 1-vinyl-3-octylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate to result in polymeric ionic liquid modified stainless steel wire. The fiber surface was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope equipped with energy dispersive X-ray analysis. Coupled with GC, extraction performance of the fiber was tested with phenols and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons as model analytes. Effects of extraction and desorption conditions were investigated systematically in our work. RSDs for single-fiber repeatability and fiber-to-fiber reproducibility were less than 7.34 and 16.82%, respectively. The calibration curves were linear in a wide range for all analytes and the detection limits were in the range of 10-60 ng L(-1) . Two real water samples from the Yellow River and local waterworks were applied to test the as-established solid-phase microextraction-GC method with the recoveries of samples spiked at 10 µg L(-1) ranged from 83.35 to 119.24%. The fiber not only exhibited excellent extraction efficiency, but also very good rigidity, stability and durability.

In this study, a photocatalytic biochar-TiO2 (C-Ti) composite was prepared using lignin as carbon precursor, and blended with PVDF polymer to fabricate PVDF/C-Ti MMMs via non-solvent induced phase inversion. The prepared membrane demonstrates both 1.5 times higher initial and recovered fluxes than the similarly prepared PVDF/TiO2 membrane, suggesting the C-Ti composite can help maintain higher photodegradation efficiency and better anti-fouling performance. In addition, the comparison of PVDF/C-Ti membrane against pristine PVDF membrane show that the reversible fouling and photodegradation reversible fouling of BSA increased from 10.1% to 6.4%-35.1% and 26.6%, respectively. And the FRR of PVDF/C-Ti membrane was 62.12%, 1.8 times that of PVDF membrane. The PVDF/C-Ti membrane was also applied for lignin separation, where the rejection to sodium lignin sulfonate was maintained at about 75%, and the flux recovery ratio after UV irradiation reached 90%. The demonstrated the advantages of PVDF/C-Ti membrane in photocatalytic degradation and antifouling performance.

The study aimed to compare the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections for the treatment of temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJ-OA) with hyaluronic acid (HA) therapy. This randomized controlled trial included 70 patients with TMJ-OA, randomly divided into either a PRP or HA group. The pain intensity, maximum mouth opening (MMO), TMJ sound score, and proportion of crepitus were recorded and compared at baseline and at 1, 3, and 6 months. Both groups showed statistically significant improvements in pain intensity, MMO, TMJ sound, and scale scores during the 6-month follow-up period. The improvements in pain intensity during mouth opening at 1 month, MMO at 1, 3, and 6 months, TMJ sound score at 1 and 3 months, and GAD-7 score at 6 months in the PRP group were greater than in the HA group (p < 0.05). Compared with the HA group, imaging improvement in the PRP group was also higher (p < 0.05). Within the limitations of the study it seems that the application of PRP therapy in TMJ-OA is should be considered whenever possible.
