RESUMO

Imaging guided photothermal agents have attracted great attention for accurate diagnosis and treatment of tumors. Herein, multifunctional NaYF4:Yb/Er@polypyrrole (PPy) core-shell nanoplates are developed by combining a thermal decomposition reaction and a chemical oxidative polymerization reaction. Within such a composite nanomaterial, the core of the NaYF4:Yb/Er nanoplate can serve as an efficient nanoprobe for upconversion luminescence (UCL)/X-ray computed tomography (CT) dual-modal imaging, the shell of the PPy shows strong near infrared (NIR) region absorption and makes it effective in photothermal ablation of cancer cells and infrared thermal imaging in vivo. Thus, this platform can be simultaneously used for cancer diagnosis and photothermal therapy, and compensates for the deficiencies of individual imaging modalities and satisfies the higher requirements on the efficiency and accuracy for diagnosis and therapy of cancer. The results further provide some insight into the exploration of multifunctional nanocomposites in the photothermal theragnosis therapy of cancers.

In this study, we conducted a subtle regulation of micro- and nanostructures of electrospun polystyrene (PS) fibers via tuning the molecular weights of the polymers with different sources, solvent compositions, and solution concentration. The surface morphology and porous structures of as-prepared PS fibers were characterized, and a full and intuitive observation of the porous structures as well as a tentative account of the formation of porous structures was presented. Additionally, the porous PS fibrous mats showed much higher oil absorption capacities than those of commercial polypropylene fibers in the form of a non-woven fabric, which displays a bight future for oil spill cleanups. We believe that such regulation of micro- and nanostructures of the PS fibers will widen the range of their applications in self-cleaning materials, ultra-high sensitivity sensors, tissue engineering, ion exchange materials, etc.

The development of oil sorbents with high sorption capacity, low cost, scalable fabrication, and high selectivity is of great significance for water environmental protection, especially for oil spillage on seawater. In this work, we report nanoporous polystyrene (PS) fibers prepared via a one-step electrospinning process used as oil sorbents for oil spill cleanup. The oleophilic-hydrophobic PS oil sorbent with highly porous structures shows a motor oil sorption capacity of 113.87 g/g, approximately 3-4 times that of natural sorbents and nonwoven polypropylene fibrous mats. Additionally, the sorbents also exhibit a relatively high sorption capacity for edible oils, such as bean oil (111.80 g/g) and sunflower seed oil (96.89 g/g). The oil sorption mechanism of the PS sorbent and the sorption kinetics were investigated. Our nanoporous material has great potential for use in wastewater treatment, oil accident remediation and environmental protection.

For the first time, two-dimensional (2D) gelatin nano-nets are fabricated by regulating the solution properties and several process parameters during electrospinning/electro-netting. The spider-web-like nano-nets that comprise interlinked one-dimensional (1D) ultrathin nanowires (10-35 nm) are stacked layer-by-layer and widely distributed in the three-dimensional (3D) porous membranes. The final morphology of the gelatin nano-nets, including nanowire diameter, area density and pore-width of the nano-nets, is highly dependent on the solution concentration, salt concentration, kinds of solvents, applied voltage, ambient temperature and relative humidity (RH). The occurrence of rapid phase separation on the splitting-film and the formation of hydrogen bond among gelatin molecules during electro-netting are proposed as the possible mechanisms for the formation of these spider-web-like nano-nets.

RESUMO

Zn(2)GeO(4)-ethylenediamine (ZGO-EDA) hybrid nanoribbons have been synthesized on a large-scale and directly assembled to membranes, which exhibit an excellent recyclability, high selectivity, and good thermal stability for highly efficient removal of heavy metal ions, i.e., Pb(2+), Cd(2+), Co(2+), and Cu(2+), from contaminated water.
