RESUMO

Stimulated emission depletion (STED) nanoscopy provides subdiffraction resolution while preserving the benefits of fluorescence confocal microscopy in live-cell imaging. However, there are several challenges for multicolor STED nanoscopy, including sophisticated microscopy architectures, fast photobleaching, and cross talk of fluorescent probes. Here, we introduce two types of nanoscale fluorescent semiconducting polymer dots (Pdots) with different emission wavelengths: CNPPV (poly[2-methoxy-5-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-(1-cyanovinylene-1,4-phenylene)]) Pdots and PDFDP (poly[{9,9-dihexyl-2,7-bis(1-cyanovinylene)fluorene}-alt-co-{2,5-bis (N,N'-diphenylamino)-1,4-phenylene}]) Pdots, for dual-color STED bioimaging and cellular tracking. Besides bright fluorescence, strong photostability, and easy bioconjugation, these Pdots have large Stokes shifts, which make it possible to share both excitation and depletion beams, thus requiring only a single pair of laser beams for the dual-color STED imaging. Long-term tracking of cellular organelles by the Pdots has been achieved in living cells, and the dynamic interaction of endosomes derived from clathrin-mediated and caveolae-mediated endocytic pathways has been monitored for the first time to propose their interaction models. These results demonstrate the promise of Pdots as excellent probes for live-cell multicolor STED nanoscopy.

BACKGROUND: Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is an accepted radiologic diagnostic modality for initial infertility workup, and is generally considered uncomfortable and painful. However, the management of pain related to HSG remains inefficient. As an emerging nonpharmacologic and noninvasive pain control strategy, virtual reality (VR) distraction has been successfully used in areas such as burns, blunt force trauma, hospital-based needle procedures, dental/periodontal procedures, and urological endoscopy patients. This study aims to evaluate the analgesic effect of VR during HSG. METHODS/DESIGN: A single-center, parallel-group, randomized controlled trial will be carried out in the Radiology Department of Yinchuan Women and Children Healthcare Hospital, Yinchuan. A total of 200 participants who are scheduled for HSG will be enrolled in this study. The participants will be randomized (1:1) into two groups: a VR group and a blank control group. The VR group will receive routine care plus immersive VR intervention and the blank control group will receive routine care. Outcomes will be monitored at baseline, immediately after HSG and 15 min after HSG for each group. The primary outcome is the worst pain score during HSG by a visual analog scale (VAS). The secondary outcomes include: affective pain, cognitive pain, and anxiety during the HSG procedure; worst pain within 15 min after HSG; patient satisfaction and acceptance with pain management; physiological parameters; adverse effects; HSG results; and immersion perception score of the VR system (for the VR condition only). DISCUSSION: This study will focus on exploring a simply operated, noninvasive and low-cost analgesia during the HSG procedure. The results of this trial will provide data on the feasibility and safety of VR distraction therapy during HSG. TRIAL REGISTRATION: Chinese Clinical Trial Register, ChiCTR1900021342. Aniline-formaldehyde copolymers with different molecular structures have been prepared and investigated for the purpose of corrosion control of mild steel in hydrochloric acid. The copolymers were synthesized by a condensation polymerization process with different ratios of aniline to formaldehyde in acidic precursor solutions. The corrosion inhibition efficiency of as-synthesized copolymers for Q235 mild steel was investigated in 1.0 mol L(-1) hydrochloric acid solution by weight loss measurement, potentiodynamic polarization, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, respectively. All the results demonstrate that as-prepared aniline-formaldehyde copolymers are efficient mixed-type corrosion inhibitors for mild steels in hydrochloric acid. The corrosion inhibition mechanism is discussed in terms of the role of molecular structure on adsorption of the copolymers onto the steel surface in acid solution.
