RESUMO

Hydrogel is a very promising dressing for hemostasis and wound healing due to its good adhesion and long-term moist environment. However, secondary injury caused by tissue adhesion due to homogeneous hydrogel cannot be ignored. The obvious interface existing in Janus hydrogel will weaken its asymmetric function. Here, a hierarchical adhesive polyacrylic acid-polyurushiol water-oil Janus hydrogel (JPs@PAA-PU) without adhesive layer is fabricated by one-pot method in the stabilization of polystyrene@silica-siliver Janus particles (JPs). The morphological structure, mechanical properties, anisotropic chemical composition, and adhesion performance, in vivo, and in vitro hemostatic properties of Janus hydrogel are investigated. Result shows that the obtained Janus hydrogel possesses obvious compartmentalization in microstructure, functional groups, and chemical elements. Janus hydrogel is provided with asymmetric interfacial toughness with top 52.45 ± 2.29 Kpa and bottom 7.04 ± 0.88 Kpa on porcine liver. The adhesion properties of PAA side to tissue, red blood cells and platelets, promoting effect of PU side on coagulation cascade reaction and its physical battier endow Janus hydrogel with shorter hemostatic time and less blood loss than control group. It also exhibits excellent antibacterial effects against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus (>90%). Janus hydrogel possesses biosafety, providing safety guarantee for clinical applications in the future.

RESUMO

Aims: We employed machine-learning methods to explore data from a large survey on students, with the goal of identifying and validating a thrifty panel of important factors associated with lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI). Methods: Cross-sectional cluster sampling was performed for a survey of students aged 6-14 years who attended primary or junior high school in Beijing within January, 2022. Data were collected via electronic questionnaires. Statistical analyses were completed using the PyCharm (Edition 2018.1 x64) and Python (Version 3.7.6). Results: Data from 11,308 students (5,527 girls and 5,781 boys) were analyzed, and 909 of them had LRTI with the prevalence of 8.01%. After a comprehensive evaluation, the Gaussian naive Bayes (gNB) algorithm outperformed the other machine-learning algorithms. The gNB algorithm had accuracy of 0.856, precision of 0.140, recall of 0.165, F1 score of 0.151, and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) of 0.652. Using the optimal gNB algorithm, top five important factors, including age, rhinitis, sitting time, dental caries, and food or drug allergy, had decent prediction performance. In addition, the top five factors had prediction performance comparable to all factors modeled. For example, under the sequential deep-learning model, the accuracy and loss were separately gauged at 92.26 and 25.62% when incorporating the top five factors, and 92.22 and 25.52% when incorporating all factors. Conclusions: Our findings showed the top five important factors modeled by gNB algorithm can sufficiently represent all involved factors in predicting LRTI risk among Chinese students aged 6-14 years.

RESUMO

We compared the effectiveness and safety of pegylated granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (peg-G-CSF) vs. non-peg-G-CSF for hematopoietic stem cell mobilization in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in a real-world setting. We included 136 consecutive healthy donors treated with non-peg-G-CSF (n = 53) or peg-G-CSF (n = 83), and 125 consecutive recipients (n = 42 and 83, respectively) in this study. All harvesting was completed successfully. No significant difference in leukapheresis number and adverse events frequency was observed, nor were there severe adverse events leading to discontinuation of mobilization. The leukapheresis products mobilized by peg-G-CSF had higher total nucleated cells (p < 0.001), monocytic myeloid-derived suppressor cells (p < 0.001), granulocytic myeloid-derived suppressor cells (p = 0.004) and B cells (p = 0.019). CD34+ cells and other lymphocyte subsets (T cells, regulatory T cells, natural killer [NK] cells, etc.) were similar in both apheresis products. Patients who received grafts mobilized by peg-G-CSF exhibited a lower incidence of grade III-IV acute graft-versus-host disease (p = 0.001). The 1-year cumulative incidence of chronic graft-versus-host disease and relapse, 1-year probability of graft-versus-host disease-free relapse-free survival, and overall survival did not differ significantly between subgroups. Our results suggest that collecting allogeneic stem cells after the administration of peg-G-CSF is feasible and safe. Peg-G-CSF mobilized grafts may reduce severe acute graft-versus-host disease compared with non-peg-G-CSF mobilized grafts after allogeneic stem cell transplantation. The beneficial effects of a peg-G-CSF graft might be mediated by increased numbers of monocytic myeloid-derived suppressor cells.

RESUMO

Merrifield resin-supported pyrrolidine-based chiral organocatalysts A-D through A(3)-coupling reaction linkage have been developed and found to be highly effective catalysts for the Michael addition reaction of ketones with nitrostyrenes. The reactions generated the corresponding products in good yields (up to 92%), excellent enantioselectivities (up to 98% ee), and high diastereoselectivities (up to 99:1 dr). In addition, the catalysts can be reused at least five times without a significant loss of catalytic activity and stereoselectivity.

RESUMO

This study proposed a novel strategy to improve performance of inherently hydrophobic poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) membrane. The proposed strategy combined radiation grafting of poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) and electroless nickel plating. After a 5 min plating by using this modification strategy, the water contact angle of the modified membrane decreased from 75.5° to 47.1°, and water content ratio increased from 61.4% to 109.9%. The modified PVDF-g-PAA-Ag@Ni membrane presented 100% flux recovery and reduced fouling propensity when filtrating 0.1 g/L sodium alginate (SA) solution. Moreover, involvement of silver in this strategy provided evident antibacterial activity of the modified membranes. The ease and high efficiency of this strategy point towards the potential widespread applications of this strategy and the modified membranes.
