Prevalencia de los defectos del desarrollo del esmalte en la dentición permanente / Prevalence of the developmental defects of enamel in permanent dentition
la prevalencia fue de 20,59 % y el sexofemenino fue el más afectado con un 12,6 %; se presentó con más frecuencia en la edad de 10 años (5%). Predominaron las opacidades de colorblanco al crema, que afectaron a la mayoría de los niños en un solo diente (34,2 %). Los molares inferiores fueron los dientes más afectados con un 9,1 % y se presentaron los defectos con mayor frecuencia en ambos maxilares (11,2 %).
Conclusiones:
la prevalencia fue baja comparada con otros estudios realizados anteriormente. El defecto más recurrente fue el tipo 1, con un diente afectado por niño y en ambos maxilares.

Introduction:
developmental defects of enamel (clinically visible) are defined as its quantitative or qualitative alterations, due to alterations in the matrix of hard tissues and its mineralization during odontogenesis.
the prevalence was 20.59% and femalegender was the most affected with 12.6%; it occurred most frequently at the age of 10 years (5%). The white to cream opacities predominated, affecting most of the children in only one tooth (34.2%). The lower molars were the most affected teeth with 9.1% and the defects were more frequent in both jaws with 11.2%.
Conclusions:
the prevalence was low compared to other studies previously conducted. The most recurrent defect was type 1, with one affected tooth per child and in both jaws.
