[Hypernephroma as second neoplasm simultaneous in a patient whith larynx carcinoma]. / Hipernefroma como segunda neoplasia simultánea en una paciente con cancer de laringe.

The presence of two or more different histologic types of neoplasms in patients treated for head and neck cancer is well known. It is provided the clinical case of a woman of 48 years old who developed two primary tumors, a squamous carcinoma of larynx and a clear cell carcinoma of kidney (hypernephroma). The diagnosis of second primary tumor was a casual find when an abdominal TC was being carried out. The more frequent association of a head and neck cancer is with a malignant tumors of lung, being unusual the malignant tumors of kidney association.

[Traumatic cervical subcutaneous emphysema in children]. / Enfisema subcutáneo cervical traumático infantil.

Neck emphysema is an unusual pathology in childhood depending on several conditions. We report the case of a subcutaneous emphysema of the neck after an oropharyngeal injury in a child and take the advantage of the event in order to review the etiology and pathogeny of neck emphysema, because the otolaryngologist must know the differential diagnosis, face to the presence of air inside the neck, since the definitive treatment depends on is etiology.

[Myoepithelioma of the parotid gland]. / Mioepitelioma de glándula parótida.

Myoepithelioma of the salivary gland is a benign tumor set up almost exclusively for myoepithelial cells. It is considered as the terminal form of the histopathologic spectrum of mixed tumors, but owing to its monomorphic appearance is considered an aside form. In this article is reported one myoepithelial case of the parotid gland and are also reviewed the published literature of this sort of neoplasms.

[Parapharyngeal space tumors. Presentation of three cases and literature review]. / Tumores del espacio parafaríngeo. Presentación de tres casos y revisión de la literatura.

Tumors originating in the parapharyngeal space are rare. Eighty percent of the parapharyngeal space neoplasms are benign, and 20% are malignant. The most frequent tumours of this localization are those of salivary origin followed by neurogenic tumor and in third place the paragangliomas. This paper presents three representative cases of parapharyngeal space neoplasms. The literature is reviewed.

Liposarcoma is the second sarcoma of soft tissues more frequent in adult-age. Its localisation in head and neck is odd. The majority of liposarcoma, of this sitting, take its origin from soft tissues of the neck, being unusual primary liposarcoma from larynx and hypolarynx. Presentation of one case of liposarcoma of the larynx and hypopharynx and review of the opportune literature.

[Schwannoma of the cervical sympathetic chain]. / Schwannoma de la cadena simpática cervical.

Schwannomas are benign tumors of neural source produced from Schwann cells, which are the constituents and the maintenance of myelin sheath of peripheral nerves. Parapharyngeal schwannoma are sporadic and vagus nerve the one more frequently giving raise to parapharyngeal schwannoma. Those originated in sympathetic neck chain are more rare. We inform about a parapharyngeal schwannoma case of the neck sympathetic chain and perform an analyse of clinic, diagnostical, histological and therapeutical characteristics of this so infrequent pathology.

It is being tumor developed from Schwann cells of peripheral nerves sheath. In its plexiform type it is a rare growth presenting solitary or in the context of von Recklinghausen's disease. The aim of this article is to present one plexiform neurofibroma localized in the parotid gland. At the same time we make a perusal on the literature of this kind of tumor.

The great majority of parotid gland tumours are benign. Metastatic malignant ones are scarce in number. The source of these metastasis are growths localized either in head and neck or distant tumours spreading on intra- or periparotid lymph nodes. Two cases of metastatic parotid growths diagnosed and treated last year are reported. Bibliographic review of the topic.

Malignant melanomas of the oral mucous membrane seems an infrequent pathology. They are characterized by a late diagnosis, bad prognosis and a disappointing treatment, because of the difficulties encountered for its total removal owing to complicated accessibility. We report one case of mucous membrane of the mouth in a 56 year-old man, diagnosed and operated in the General Hospital of Specialties "Ciudad de Jaen". The article end with a careful revision of the literature.

Los tumores que se originan en el espacio parafaríngeo son poco frecuentes. Un 80 por ciento de las neoplasias del espacio parafaríngeo son benignas y un 20 por ciento son malignas. Los tumores que se encuentran con más frecuencia en esta localización son los que se originan en las glándulas salivares, seguidos por tumores neurogénicos y en tercer lugar por los paragangliomas. El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar tres casos representativos de los tipos más frecuentes de tumores en esta localización y realizar una revisión de la literatura de este tipo de tumores (AU)
