RESUMEN

We report a case of fetal nasal chondromesenchymal hamartoma (NCMH) first noted on prenatal ultrasound at 34 weeks. A solid-cystic mass which predominantly hyperechoicgenic and relatively clear margin, was located on the left nasal cavity and pharynx, with anterior extension and moderate blood flow. Further follow-up ultrasound examination depicted an enlargement of the tumor. Fetal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed an inhomogeneous signal lesion involving the ethmoid sinuses, nasal cavity, and pharynx. The infant, delivered via cesarean section at 37 + 5 weeks, required urgent neonatology intervention due to respiratory difficulties. Neonatal MRI and computer tomography were subsequently performed at 1 day after birth. Surgical excision occurred at 7 days, confirming NCMH via histological examination. Awareness of this entity, is essential to avoid potentially harmful therapies, especially in prenatal period. Considered NCMH in diagnosis when fetal nasal masses presenting with predominantly high-level echo, well-defined margins and moderate vascularity.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the ultrasound (US) characteristics of metastatic malignancies (MM) in the major salivary glands and to assess the diagnostic value of the close relationship with the glandular capsule in identifying MM. METHODS: From January 2016 and April 2022, 122 patients with major salivary gland malignancies, including 20 patients with MM and 102 patients with primary malignancies (PM) confirmed by histopathological examination, were enrolled in this study. Their clinicopathologic and US data were recorded and analyzed. The diagnostic performance of the close relationship with the glandular capsule for differentiating MM from PM was analyzed. RESULTS: The mean age of MM were older than that of PM (59.50 ± 14.57 vs. 49.96 ± 15.73, p = 0.013). Compared with PM patients, MM were associated with a higher prevalence of local pain symptoms (p = 0.007) and abnormal facial nerve function (p < 0.001). MM were also more frequently characterized by unclear borders, rough margins, irregular shapes, heterogeneous internal echos, absence of cystic areas, presence of calcifications, close relationship with the glandular capsule, and US-reported positive cervical lymph nodes (all p < 0.05). The close relationship with the glandular capsule showed to be a good indicator in distinguishing between MM and PM, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.863, a sensitivity of 100%, a specificity of 72.5%, and an accuracy of 92.2%. Positive and negative predictive were calculated at 41.7% and 100%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The US finding of a close relationship with the glandular capsule is a highly sensitive diagnostic indicator for MM. Following this finding, US-guided needle biopsy should be recommended to further confirm the diagnosis.

RESUMEN

Polymeric immunoglobulin receptor (pIgR) can bind and transport immunoglobulins (Igs), thus playing a role in mucosal immunity. In this study, pIgR gene was cloned in mandarin fish, Siniperca chuatsi, with the open reading frame (ORF) of 1011 bp, encoding 336 amino acids. The pIgR protein consists of a signal peptide, an extracellular domain, a transmembrane domain and an intracellular region, with the presence of two Ig-like domains (ILDs) in the extracellular domain, as reported in other species of fish. The pIgR gene was expressed in all organs/tissues of healthy mandarin fish, with higher level observed in liver and spleen. Following the immersion infection of Flavobacterium columnare, pIgR transcripts were detected in immune related, especially mucosal tissues, with significantly increased transcription during the first two days of infection. Through transfection of plasmids expressing pIgR, IgT and IgM, pIgR was found to be interacted with IgT and IgM as revealed by co-immunoprecipitation and immunofluorescence.

RESUMEN

The genetic base of soybean cultivars (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) has been narrowed through selective domestication and specific breeding improvement, similar to other crops. This presents challenges in breeding new cultivars with improved yield and quality, reduced adaptability to climate change, and increased susceptibility to diseases. On the other hand, the vast collection of soybean germplasms offers a potential source of genetic variations to address those challenges, but it has yet to be fully leveraged. In recent decades, rapidly improved high-throughput genotyping technologies have accelerated the harness of elite variations in soybean germplasm and provided the important information for solving the problem of a narrowed genetic base in breeding. In this review, we will overview the situation of maintenance and utilization of soybean germplasms, various solutions provided for different needs in terms of the number of molecular markers, and the omics-based high-throughput strategies that have been used or can be used to identify elite alleles. We will also provide an overall genetic information generated from soybean germplasms in yield, quality traits, and pest resistance for molecular breeding.

RESUMEN

Advances in plant phenotyping technologies are dramatically reducing the marginal costs of collecting multiple phenotypic measurements across several time points. Yet, most current approaches and best statistical practices implemented to link genetic and phenotypic variation in plants have been developed in an era of single-time-point data. Here, we used time-series phenotypic data collected with an unmanned aircraft system for a large panel of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) varieties to identify previously uncharacterized loci. Specifically, we focused on the dissection of canopy coverage (CC) variation from this rich data set. We also inferred the speed of canopy closure, an additional dimension of CC, from the time-series data, as it may represent an important trait for weed control. Genome-wide association studies (GWASs) identified 35 loci exhibiting dynamic associations with CC across developmental stages. The time-series data enabled the identification of 10 known flowering time and plant height quantitative trait loci (QTLs) detected in previous studies of adult plants and the identification of novel QTLs influencing CC. These novel QTLs were disproportionately likely to act earlier in development, which may explain why they were missed in previous single-time-point studies. Moreover, this time-series data set contributed to the high accuracy of the GWASs, which we evaluated by permutation tests, as evidenced by the repeated identification of loci across multiple time points. Two novel loci showed evidence of adaptive selection during domestication, with different genotypes/haplotypes favored in different geographic regions. In summary, the time-series data, with soybean CC as an example, improved the accuracy and statistical power to dissect the genetic basis of traits and offered a promising opportunity for crop breeding with quantitative growth curves.

RESUMEN

The soil ecological health risks and toxic effects of coal gangue accumulation were examined after 10 years of elm/poplar phytoremediation. The changes in soil enzyme activities, ionome metabolism, and microbial community structure were analyzed at shallow (5-15 cm), intermediate (25-35 cm), and deep (45-55 cm) soil depths. Soil acid phosphatase activity in the restoration area increased significantly by 4.36-7.18 fold (p < 0.05). Soil concentrations of the metal ions Cu, Pb, Ni, Co, Bi, U, and Th were significantly reduced, as were concentrations of the non-metallic element S. The repair effect was shallow > middle > deep. The soil community structure, determined by 16S diversity results, was changed significantly in the restoration area, and the abundance of microorganisms increased at shallow soil depths. Altererythrobacter and Sphingomonas species were at the center of the microbial weight network in the restoration area. Redundancy analysis (RDA) showed that S and Na are important driving forces for the microbial community distributions at shallow soil depths. The KEGG function prediction indicated enhancement of the microbial function of the middle depth soil layers in the restoration area. Overall, phytoremediation enhanced the biotransformation of soil phosphorus in the coal gangue restoration area, reduced the soil content of several harmful metal elements, significantly changed the structure and function of the microbial community, and improved the overall soil ecological environment.

RESUMEN

With the application of the concept of supramolecular chemistry to various fields, a large number of supramolecules have been discovered. The chemical components of traditional Chinese medicine have various sources and unique structures. During the high-temperature boiling process, various active components form supramolecules due to complex interactions. The supramolecular structure in a traditional Chinese medicine decoction can not only be used as a drug carrier to promote the absorption and distribution of medicinal components but may also have biological activities superior to those of single active ingredients or their physical mixtures. By summarizing the relevant research results over recent years, this paper introduces the research progress regarding supramolecules in various decoctions, laying a foundation for further research into supramolecules in traditional Chinese medicine decoctions, and provides a new perspective for revealing the compatibility mechanisms of traditional Chinese medicine, guiding clinical medications, and developing new nanometers materials.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: This study aimed to assess the effects of folic acid (FA) combined with a docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) intervention on the cognitive function and inflammatory cytokines in elderly subjects with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). METHODS: This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial recruited 240 individuals with MCI in Tianjin, China, and randomly allocated into 4 groups: FA + DHA (FA 800 µg/d + DHA 800 mg/d), FA (FA 800 µg/d), DHA (DHA 800 mg/d), and placebo. Cognitive function, serum folate and homocysteine (Hcy), plasma DHA and inflammatory cytokines levels were measured at baseline and 6 months. RESULTS: Daily oral FA, DHA and their combined use for 6 months significantly improved the full-scale intelligence quotient (FSIQ) and some subtests of Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale compared to the placebo. The increases of FSIQ, arithmetic, picture completion scores in the FA group and picture completion, block design scores in the DHA group were significantly less than that in the FA combined DHA group (P < 0.05). Meanwhile, daily oral FA, DHA and their combined use for 6 months significantly decreased plasma inflammatory cytokines compared to the placebo. The changes of interleukin-1ß levels in the FA group and interleukin-6 levels in the DHA group were significantly less than that in the FA + DHA group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Daily oral FA, DHA and their combined use for 6 months can significantly improve cognitive function and decrease plasma inflammatory cytokines in MCI individuals. The combination of FA and DHA was more beneficial than each individual nutrient on their own.

RESUMEN

This paper aims to explore active components and mechanism of Scutellariae Radix(SR)-Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex(PCC) drug pair in treatment of psoriasis by network pharmacology and molecular docking. Specifically, the chemical components of SR and PCC were retrieved from literature and TCMSP, as well as targets of these components from PharmMapper and UniProt, and the targets related to psoriasis from OMIM, TTD, PharmGkb, and DrugBank. Then the chemical component-medicinal target, protein-protein interaction(PPI), and chemical component-psoriasis target networks were constructed by Cytoscape. Gene ontology(GO) term enrichment analysis and Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes(KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis were performed based on Metascape. Finally, molecular docking of the chemical components(high degree) with core therapeutic targets was carried out by AutoDock vina. The results showed 88 compounds of SR and PCC(including baicalin, wogonoside, berberine and phellodendrine) and 30 targets of the pair in the treatment of psoriasis. The 30 targets mainly involved the biological processes such as neutrophil mediated immunity(GO: 0002446) and T cell activation(GO: 0042110), and the signaling pathways such as metabolism of xenobiotics by cytochrome P450(hsa00980), apoptosis(hsa04210), and PI3 K-Akt signaling pathway(hsa04151). The results of molecular docking demonstrated that the main active components can spontaneously bind to the targets and the binding energy of 46 components with epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR) was less than-8 kcal·mol~(-1). According to the PPI analysis, EGFR may be a key target for the treatment of psoriasis. Active components such as baicalin and berberine had high binding affinity with EGFR. This study preliminarily revealed the multi-component, multi-target and multi-pathway mechanism of SR-PCC drug pair in the treatment of psoriasis, which provided theoretical basis for the research on the mechanism of the drug pair in the treatment of psoriasis.

RESUMEN

Cartilaginous metaplasia is rare in primary central nervous system (CNS) neoplasms and has not been described in the histone 3 (H3) gene (H3) with a substitution of lysine to methionine (H3 K27M mutant) diffuse midline glioma before. Here, we report a case of H3 K27M mutant diffuse midline glioma with cartilaginous metaplasia in a 56-year-old woman. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a ring-enhanced lesion located in the medulla oblongata and extended superiorly into the fourth ventricle. The tumor was macroscopically completely resected. Histologically, the tumor was composed of a gliomatous component and a well-differentiated cartilaginous component. Microvascular proliferation and necrosis were noted. According to immunohistochemical staining, glial cells were diffusely and strongly positive for glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), oligodendrocyte lineage transcription factor 2 (Olig2), H3 K27M, and S-100 protein but negative for H3K27me3. The chondrocytes also were positive for GFAP and S-100 protein. The H3 K27M mutation was confirmed by sequencing in both the gliomatous and cartilaginous components, suggesting a common origin from the same progenitor cells. Based on these findings, the tumor was diagnosed as a diffuse midline glioma with H3 K27M mutation with widespread cartilaginous metaplasia, corresponding to WHO grade IV. This is an extremely rare H3 K27M mutant diffuse midline glioma with cartilaginous metaplasia, and reporting this unusual case adds to the understanding of this tumor type.

RESUMEN

Schizandrin is a major bioactive constituent of Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.) Baill with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The objective of this study was to explore the potential effects of schizandrin on a cell model of myocarditis. The H9c2 cells were treated with schizandrin alone or in combination with lipopolysaccharide (LPS), after which, cell survival, migration, and the release of inflammatory cytokines were assessed. Moreover, downstream effectors and signaling pathways were studied to reveal the possible underlying mechanism. As a result, LPS stimulation induced significant cell damage as cell viability was repressed and the apoptosis was induced. In the meantime, LPS promoted the release of proinflammatory cytokines including interleukin 1ß (IL-1ß), IL-8, IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) while repressing the release of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10. Schizandrin could promote H9c2 cell migration and long-term treatment (7 days) enhanced cell viability. More interestingly, pretreatment with schizandrin attenuated LPS-induced cell loss and inflammatory response. Besides this, Smad3 was a downstream effector of schizandrin. The beneficial effects of schizandrin on the H9c2 cells were attenuated when Smad3 was overexpressed. Moreover, the silencing of Smad3 deactivated c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) pathways. This study preliminarily demonstrated that schizandrin prevented LPS-induced injury in the H9c2 cells and promoted the recovery of myocardial tissues by enhancing cell viability and migration. Schizandrin conferred its beneficial effects possibly by downregulating Smad3 and inhibiting the activation of JNK and NF-κB pathways.

RESUMEN

The authors describe a fluorometric method for the quantitation of nucleic acids by combining (a) cycled strand displacement amplification, (b) the unique features of the DNA probe SYBR Green, and (c) polydopamine nanotubes. SYBR Green undergoes strong fluorescence enhancement upon intercalation into double-stranded DNA (dsDNA). The polydopamine nanotubes selectively adsorb single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) and molecular beacons. In the absence of target DNA, the molecular beacon, primer and SYBR Green are adsorbed on the surface of polydopamine nanotubes. This results in quenching of the fluorescence of SYBR Green, typically measured at excitation/emission wavelengths of 488/518 nm. Upon addition of analyte (target DNA) and polymerase, the stem of the molecular beacon is opened so that it can bind to the primer. This triggers target strand displacement polymerization, during which dsDNA is synthesized. The hybridized target is then displaced due to the strand displacement activity of the polymerase. The displaced target hybridizes with another molecular beacon. This triggers the next round of polymerization. Consequently, a large amount of dsDNA is formed which is detected by addition of SYBR Green. Thus, sensitive and selective fluorometric detection is realized. The fluorescent sensing strategy shows very good analytical performances towards DNA detection, such as a wide linear range from 0.05 to 25 nM with a low limit of detection of 20 pM. Graphical abstract Schematic of a fluorometric strategy for highly sensitive and selective determination of nucleic acids by combining strand displacement amplification and the unique features of SYBR Green I (SG) and polydopamine nanotubes.

RESUMEN

Mammalian coat color is one of the first phenotypic changes resulting from positive selection by humans, and it serves important roles in genetic and evolutionary processes. Among them, horses show a broad variety of coat color patterns, based on which it is difficult to distinguish the real phenotypes, resulting in confused records in horse breed registration. Thus, research in the genetic mechanisms on the development of coat color patterns is significant in horse reproduction and breeding. With the recent establishment of genomics and sequencing technologies, there are significant advances in research in the genetics of horse coat colors, which demonstrate that special coat colors could be associated with certain diseases. In this review, we classify horse coat colors from the perspective of genetics, and summarize the recent research progresses of the associated genes and molecular mechanisms on horse coat color development and its application, thereby providing references to further systematic research on horse coat color patterns and their practical uses in horse breeding.

RESUMEN

In this article, we analyze the clinical characteristics of five kinds of traditional Chinese medicine injections in treating heart failure based on Meta-analysis. A total of 24 Meta-analysis papers were included, which involved Shenfu Injection, Shenmai Injection, Shengmai Injection, Danhong Injection and Huangqi Injection. The numbers of literatures of Shenfu Injection, Shenmai Injection and Shengmai Injection are high than the other two injections. The efficiencies of these injections combined with Western medicine are higher than the Western medicine used alone. They can improve 6 minute walk test result, ejection fraction, the level of brain peptide sodium and so on. Shenfu Injection can also improve the living quality of patients' life, heart rate and other indicators. Shenfu Injection can be used for patients with Yin deficiency, while Shenmai Injection can be used for patients with Yin deficiency and Shengmai Injection can be used for patients with Qi and Yin deficiency. From this information, we can see that Western medicine combined with traditional Chinese medicine injections can significantly improve the clinical efficiency. These injections need to be used according to patients' symptom. In the present, as the quality of clinical research literature of traditional Chinese medicine injections is low, the efficiency and safety evaluation of Chinese medicine injections still requires higher level of clinical evidence.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) is the standard approach to bladder tumors but suffers from several disadvantages. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a novel procedure of retrograde en bloc resection of bladder tumor (RERBT) with conventional monopolar resection electrode for the treatment of superficial bladder tumors. METHODS: RERBT and conventional TURBT (C-TURBT) were conducted, respectively, in 40 and 50 patients diagnosed with superficial papillary bladder tumors. In the RERBT group, the tumors were en bloc removed retrogradely under direct vision using a conventional monopolar electrode. Patients' clinicopathological, intraoperative, and postoperative data were compared retrospectively between the RERBT and C-TURBT groups. RESULTS: Of the 90 patients, 40 underwent RERBT and 50 underwent C-TURBT. Both groups were comparable in clinicopathological characteristic. RERBT could be performed as safely and effectively as C-TURBT. There were no significant differences in operative time and surgical complications. The cumulative recurrence rates between groups were similar during up to 18 months follow-up. The detrusor muscle could be identified pathologically in 100% of RERBT tumor specimens and the biopsy of tumor bases, but only in 54 and 70%, respectively, of C-TURBT samples (P < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS: The RERBT technique is feasible and safe for superficial bladder tumors using conventional monopolar resection setting, with the advantages of adequate tumor resection and the ability to collect good quality tumor specimens for pathological diagnosis and staging compared to conventional TURBT.

RESUMEN

Guizhi decoction (GZD), a well-known traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) prescription consisting of Ramulus Cinnamomi, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Radix Glycyrrhizae, Fructus Jujubae and Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens, is usually used for the treatment of common colds, influenza, and other pyretic conditions in the clinic. However, the absorbed ingredients and metabolic compounds of GZD have not been reported. In this paper, a method incorporating rapid resolution liquid chromatography (RRLC) with quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry (Q-TOF-MS) was used to identify ingredients after oral administration of GZD. Identification of the primary components in GZD, drug-containing serum and urine samples was carried out in order to investigate the assimilation and metabolites of the decoction in vivo. By comparing the total ion chromatograms (TICs) of GZD, a total of 71 constituents were detected or characterized. By comparing TICs of blank and dosed rat plasma, a total of 15 constituents were detected and identified as prototypes according to their retention time (tR) and MS, MS/MS data. Based on this, neutral loss scans of 80 and 176 Da in samples of rat plasma and urine helped us to identify most of the metabolites. Results showed that the predominant metabolic pathways of (epi) catechin and gallic acid were sulfation, methylation, glucuronidation and dehydroxylation; the major metabolic pathways of flavone were hydrolysis, sulfation and glucuronidation. Furthermore, degradation, oxidation and ring fission were found to often occur in the metabolism process of GZD in vivo.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: This study was to evaluate the influence of mtDNA deletion on the lung cancer cells under the conditions of hypoxia or irradiation. METHOD: The treatment conditions of lung cancer cell lines with (A549) and without mtDNA (ρ0A549: obtained by inducing from A549) included 2 h of hypoxia and 4 Gy irradiation (group 1: without treatment; group 2: 2 h of hypoxia; group 3: 4 Gy irradiation; group 4: 2 h of hypoxia plus 4 Gy irradiation). The Human OneArray™ microarray was used to hybridize with the Cy5-labeled aRNA in microarray sample preparation. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the lung cancer cells with and without mtDNA were identified using NOISeq package in R. Gene ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analyses were performed using the online tool of DAVID. RESULT: In the KEGG pathway analysis of down-regulated DEGs, nineteen pathways were simultaneously enriched in the four groups, which were mainly metabolism- and biosynthesis-related pathways. Nine lung cancer-related pathways were enriched in group 4, and more cancer-associated DEGs, such as MYC, MAX, and E2F1 were found in group 4 than in the other groups. CONCLUSION: The mtDNA deletion could inhibit the biosynthesis and metabolism of lung cancer cells and promote the effect of hypoxia and radiation on lung cancer cells. MYC might be the key gene of the cooperation of hypoxia and radiation and MYC, MAX, and E2F1 might play roles in hypoxia- and radiation-induced cell death in lung cancer cells without mtDNA.

RESUMEN

The aims of this study were to evaluate the osteoprotective effect of aqueous extract from Rhizoma Dioscoreae (RDE) on rats with ovariectomy- (OVX-) induced osteopenia. Our results show that RDE could inhibit bone loss of OVX rats after a 12-week treatment. The microarray analysis showed that 68 genes were upregulated and that 100 genes were downregulated in femurs of the RDE group rats compared to those in the OVX group. The Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA) showed that several downregulated genes had the potential to code for proteins that were involved in the Wnt/ ß -catenin signaling pathway (Sost, Lrp6, Tcf7l2, and Alpl) and the RANKL/RANK signaling pathway (Map2k6 and Nfatc4). These results revealed that the mechanism for an antiosteopenic effect of RDE might lie in the synchronous inhibitory effects on both the bone formation and the bone resorption, which is associated with modulating the Wnt/ ß -catenin signaling and the RANKL/RANK signaling.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To compare the effect of transumbilical single-site single-port with that of transumbilical single-site double-port laparoscopic varicocelectomy in the treatment of varicocele in adolescents. METHODS: We randomly assigned 80 varicocele patients aged 10 - 16 years to two groups of equal number to receive transumbilical single-site single-port and single-site double-port laparoscopic varicocelectomy, respectively. We compared the operation time, postoperative hospital stay, incisional pain, complications and satisfaction with the abdominal cosmetic outcomes between the two groups. RESULTS: All the operations were successfully performed. The double-port group showed a significantly higher score on the Visual Analogue Scale than the single-port group (4.8 +/- 1.4 vs 3.6 +/- 1.1, t = -4.986, P < 0.01), but there were no significant differences between the two groups in the operation time ([29.8 +/- 4.2] vs [31.2 +/- 4.6] min, t = 1.383, P = 0.171), postoperative hospital stay ([1.95 +/- 0.7] vs [1.82 +/- 0.8] d, t = -0.784, P = 0.436), complications (0 vs 0) and scores on the satisfaction with abdominal cosmetic outcomes (4.6 +/- 0.6 vs 4.8 +/- 0.5, t = 1.253, P = 0.214). No recurrence, umbilical hernia, hydrocele and orchiatrophy were found in the two groups of patients at 6 months after operation, and no visible scar was observed on the abdominal surface. CONCLUSION: With strict surgical indications, single-site single-port and single-site double-port laparoscopic varicocelectomies have similar clinical effects in the treatment of varicocele, which leave no scar on the abdominal surface. Single-site double-port laparoscopy needs no special instruments and therefore is worthier of wide clinical application.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate left atrial volume and function in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) combined with left atrial appendage thrombosis and patients with paroxysmal AF without left atrial appendage thrombosis by 3-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (3D-STI), and to explore the application value of this set of parameters in the evaluation of left atrial function in patients with paroxysmal AF. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 40 patients with paroxysmal AF admitted from December 2018 to December 2020 were selected as the observation group. All patients with paroxysmal AF in the observation group underwent transesophageal echocardiography. According to the presence of left atrial appendage thrombosis, the patients were divided into the AF without thrombosis group (24 cases) and the AF with thrombosis group (16 cases). Thirty normal people were selected as control group who were chosen as having no heart-related disease. The left atrial volume parameters (Left atrial maximum volume LAVmax, Left atrial minimum volume LAVmin, Left atrial volume before atrial contraction LAVpre-A, Left atrial stroke volume LAEV), left atrial ejection fraction (LAEF) and left atrial strain parameters (Left atrial reservoir longitudinal strain LASr, Left atrial conduit longitudinal strain LAScd, Left atrial contraction longitudinal strain LASct, Left atrial reservoir circumferential strain LASr-c, Left atrial conduit circumferential strain LAScd-c, Left atrial contraction circumferential strain LASct-c) of the 3 groups were measured by 3D-STI. RESULTS: With the progression of paroxysmal AF, the left atrial volume increased, and the reservoir, conduit and contractile function were damaged. The left atrial volume continued to increase, and the reservoir, conduit and contractile function further decreased significantly in patients with AF combined with left atrial appendage thrombosis. LAEF was positively correlated with LASr and LASr_c. CONCLUSION: Real-time 3-dimensional spot tracking imaging (3D-STI) can evaluate the changes in left atrial volume and function in patients with paroxysmal AF, and has a certain reference value for clinical judgment of disease progression and prognosis.
