RESUMEN

This study examined the impacts of volunteers' motivation and satisfaction through Olympic/Paralympic volunteering experiences on their intention to volunteer for future community events and the moderating role of previous volunteering experience in the relationships among motivations, satisfaction, and intention to continue volunteering. A sample of volunteers (N = 4,824) was drawn from the data collected by Nielsen during the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Responses from a total of 25 items of volunteer motivations, satisfaction, future intention to volunteer, and previous experience status were used for the study's analyses. Path analysis revealed that among the total sample, motivations had direct and indirect (through satisfaction) effects on intention to volunteer. Results of multigroup path analysis showed that the relationships among motivations, satisfaction, and intention vary by returning and first-time volunteers, supporting the moderating role of prior volunteering experience in the path model. This study provides a systematic examination of how volunteer motivations and satisfaction may operate differently or similarly between returning and first-time volunteers.

RESUMEN

In this study, we propose a new concept, brand awe, and explore its nature, underlying dimensions, and roles in relation to consumer responses. Brand awe is a specific mixture of emotions that consumers feel when they encounter a luxury or premium brand that they perceive to be vast and, thus, requires a schematic accommodation. Exploratory Factor Analysis (N = 205) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (N = 256) of the survey data based on fourteen brands yielded three dimensions of brand awe: Euphoria, Enthrallment, and Vastness. Results support the reliability and validity of the brand awe construct and the important mediating roles of brand awe between its triggers (i.e., prestige, luxuriousness, excellence, and innovation) and consumer responses.

RESUMEN

Microwave/Microwave discharge electrodeless lamp/Dissolved Oxygen/TiO2 photocatalyst hybrid system was applied to evaluate the photocatalytic degradation behavior of cimetidine, one of the waste drug components. The effects of microwave intensity, pH and dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration on the reaction rate of cimetidine (CMT) degradation were experimentally evaluated. In addition, the CMT decomposition reactions were compared by the combination of unit technologies of the hybrid system. As the microwave intensity and pH of the aqueous reactant solution increased, the CMT decomposition rate increased, and the DO concentration of the aqueous reactant solution had an optimum efficiency concentration. The highest CMT degradation efficiency was obtained by microwave/microwave discharge electrodeless lamp/TiO2 photocatalytic hybrid system at pH and DO concentration conditions (pH 10, DO 40 ppm). These results show that operation parameters and combination methods affect hydroxyl radical formation and CMT decomposition reactions on TiO2 surfaces, and efficient CMT decomposition reactions are formed through optimized hybrid systems. CMT is mineralized to CO2 and H2O through chemically active species (superoxide anion radical and hydroxyl radicals) via cimetine sulfoxide, 4-methyl-5-hydroxymethylimidazole, and sulfinyl-containing N-cyano-N',N'-dimethyl-guanidine.

RESUMEN

A hybrid system combining microwave and a microwave discharge electrodeless lamp (MDEL) was proposed to overcome the limitations of conventional TiO2 photocatalysts. The degradation efficiency and mechanism of naproxen were determined using a series of single processes, including conventional TiO2 photocatalyst reactors and a hybrid system that fuses them. Although the degradation efficiency tended to increase after changing the experimental condition of a single process, the optimal conditions existed for these experimental conditions. On the other hand, remarkable synergy was observed in the fused process, whose efficiency was significantly higher than that of the unit process. In particular, the optimal degradation ability was obtained by adding hydrogen peroxide together with microwave irradiation. The seven intermediates in the proposed photocatalytic degradation pathway were generated by the demethylation and hydroxylation by hydroxyl radicals. These results are expected to provide new data on the design of high efficiency photocatalytic systems at low cost.

RESUMEN

Ethanolamine in a wastewater which is released from nuclear power plant was decomposed using a plasma discharged into the solution directly. Ni-TiO2 supported on mesoporous materials were employed as a photocatalyst. The photocatalytic reaction using the liquid phase plasma led to a degradation of ethanolamine with hydrogen evolution, simultaneously. The ethanolamine in the wastewater was degraded over 90% on the photocatalytic decomposition reaction by irradiation of liquid phase plasma. The rate of hydrogen evolution increased significantly with Ni incorporation on TiO2 because the bandgap was reduced with Ni incorporation on TiO2. Incorporating Ni on TiO2 nanocrystallites brought out an improvement of the ethanolamine degradation with hydrogen generation. The rate of hydrogen evolution in the ethanolamine-containing aqueous solution was increased in comparison with that in pure water. Additional hydrogen evolution by the photodecomposition of ethanolamine was attributed to the increasing H2 production.

RESUMEN

This research explores the relationships among personal accomplish- ment, mentoring, affect, creative self-efficacy, and creative involvement. With a sample of working adults (N = 242), structural equation modeling results revealed that the data fit the theoretical model well in that creative self-efficacy fully mediated the relationships between personal accomplishment and creative work involvement and between mentoring and creative work involvement. Hierarchical regression analyses demonstrated that positive affect moderated the relationship between personal accomplishment and creative self-efficacy but negative affect did not, signifying that positive affect may be a necessary situational factor to optimize the personal accomplishment-creative self-efficacy link. In contrast, negative but not positive affect moderated the link between mentoring experiences and creative self-efficacy, suggesting that mentoring experiences associated with negative affect situationally may have been likely to have a significant consequence in weakening creative self-efficacy. The findings expand upon self-efficacy and mentoring theories by highlighting the importance of employing theoretically relevant moderating and mediating variables in research investigating the etiology of possible variables associated with vital workplace outcomes.

RESUMEN

Corporate community initiatives (CCI) are often established via cross-sector partnerships with nonprofit agencies to address critical social problems. While there is a growing body of literature exploring the effectiveness and social impact of these partnerships, there is a limited evaluative research on the implementation and execution processes of CCIs. In this paper, we examined the implementation and operational processes in the delivery of a professional sport organization's CCI initiative using program theory evaluation. The findings showed discrepancies between the associate organization and the implementers regarding understanding and fulfilling responsibilities with performing certain aspects (maintaining accurate records and program marketing) of the service delivery protocol. Despite program stakeholders being satisfied overall with the program delivery, contradictions between program stakeholders' satisfaction in the quality of program delivery was found in critical components (marketing and communications) of the service delivery. We conclude that ongoing evaluations are necessary to pinpoint the catalyst of the discrepancies along with all partners valuing process evaluation in addition to outcome evaluation.

RESUMEN

The purpose of the study was to examine the relation of burnout components (i.e., exhaustion, cynicism, and professional inefficacy) with employees' self-rated job performance and prosocial behavior and test a conceptual model that incorporates the direct and indirect relationships of the burnout components with job performance and prosocial behavior. A paper-and-pencil survey battery was completed by 262 working adults in a university setting. The independent and dependent variables were collected one month apart to reduce the likelihood of common method variance bias. Emotional exhaustion and professional inefficacy were associated with lower task and contextual performance, and prosocial behavior. Cynicism was a significant partial mediator of the emotional exhaustion and professional inefficacy relations with three outcome variables, linking to increased task performance, contextual performance, and prosocial behavior. This is one of the few studies that use the burnout process model to examine the links between burnout and performance and prosocial behavior (AU)
