RESUMEN

Cultivated rice varieties are all diploid, and polyploidization of rice has long been desired because of its advantages in genome buffering, vigorousness, and environmental robustness. However, a workable route remains elusive. Here, we describe a practical strategy, namely de novo domestication of wild allotetraploid rice. By screening allotetraploid wild rice inventory, we identified one genotype of Oryza alta (CCDD), polyploid rice 1 (PPR1), and established two important resources for its de novo domestication: (1) an efficient tissue culture, transformation, and genome editing system and (2) a high-quality genome assembly discriminated into two subgenomes of 12 chromosomes apiece. With these resources, we show that six agronomically important traits could be rapidly improved by editing O. alta homologs of the genes controlling these traits in diploid rice. Our results demonstrate the possibility that de novo domesticated allotetraploid rice can be developed into a new staple cereal to strengthen world food security.

RESUMEN

Broomcorn millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) is one of the earliest domesticated crops, and is a valuable resource to secure food diversity and combat drought stresses under the global warming scenario. However, due to the absence of extant diploid progenitors, the polyploidy genome of broomcorn millet remains poorly understood. Here, we report the chromosome-scale genome assembly of broomcorn millet. We divided the broomcorn millet genome into two subgenomes using the genome sequence of Panicum hallii, a diploid relative of broomcorn millet. Our analyses revealed that the two subgenomes diverged at ~4.8 million years ago (Mya), while the allotetraploidization of broomcorn millet may have occurred about ~0.48 Mya, suggesting that broomcorn millet is a relatively recent allotetraploid. Comparative analyses showed that subgenome B was larger than subgenome A in size, which was caused by the biased accumulation of long terminal repeat retrotransposons in the progenitor of subgenome B before polyploidization. Notably, the accumulation of biased mutations in the transposable element-rich subgenome B led to more gene losses. Although no significant dominance of either subgenome was observed in the expression profiles of broomcorn millet, we found the minimally expressed genes in P. hallii tended to be lost during diploidization of broomcorn millet. These results suggest that broomcorn millet is at the early stage of diploidization and that mutations likely occurred more on genes that were marked with lower expression levels.

RESUMEN

In this study, a hybrid model, the convolutional neural network-support vector regression model, was adopted to achieve prediction of the NO2 profile in Nanjing from January 2019 to March 2021. Given the sudden decline in NO2 in February 2020, the contribution of the Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) lockdown, Chinese New Year (CNY), and meteorological conditions to the reduction of NO2 was evaluated. NO2 vertical column densities (VCDs) from January to March 2020 decreased by 59.05% and 32.81%, relative to the same period in 2019 and 2021, respectively. During the period of 2020 COVID-19, the average NO2 VCDs were 50.50% and 29.96% lower than those during the pre-lockdown and post-lockdown periods, respectively. The NO2 volume mixing ratios (VMRs) during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown significantly decreased below 400 m. The NO2 VMRs under the different wind fields were significantly lower during the lockdown period than during the pre-lockdown period. This phenomenon could be attributed to the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown. The NO2 VMRs before and after the CNY were significantly lower in 2020 than in 2019 and 2021 in the same period, which further proves that the decrease in NO2 in February 2020 was attributed to the COVID-19 lockdown. Pollution source analysis of an NO2 pollution episode during the lockdown period showed that the polluted air mass in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei was transported southwards under the action of the north wind, and the subsequent unfavorable meteorological conditions (local wind speed of < 2.0 m/sec) resulted in the accumulation of pollutants.

RESUMEN

The main magnetic field, generated by the excitation coil of the magnetic induction phase shift technology detection system, is mostly dispersed field with small field strength, and the offset effect needs to be further improved, which makes the detection signal weak and the detection system difficult to achieve quantitative detection, thus the technology is rarely used in vivo experiments and clinical trials. In order to improve problems mentioned above, a new Helmholtz birdcage sensor was designed. Stimulation experiment was carried out to analyze the main magnetic field in aspects of intensity and magnetic distribution, then different bleeding volume and bleeding rates experiments were conducted to compared with traditional sensors. The results showed that magnetic field intensity in detection region was 2.5 times than that of traditional sensors, cancellation effect of the main magnetic field was achieved, the mean value of phase difference of 10 mL rabbit blood was (-3.34 ± 0.21)°, and exponential fitting adjusted R 2 between phase difference and bleeding volumes and bleeding rates were both 0.99. The proposed Helmholtz birdcage sensor has a uniform magnetic field with a higher field strength, enable more accurate quantification of hemorrhage and monitored change of bleeding rates, providing significance in magnetic induced technology research for cerebral hemorrhage detection.

RESUMEN

A endospore-forming bacterium, designated strain KQZ6P-2T, was isolated from surface-sterilized bark of the mangrove plant Kandelia candel, collected from Maowei Sea Mangrove Nature Reserve in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. Strain KQZ6P-2T was able to grow at NaCl concentrations in the range of 0-3 % (w/v) with optimum growth at 0-1 % (w/v) NaCl. Growth occurred at 20-42 °C (optimal growth at 30-37 °C) and pH 5.5-6.5 (optimal growth at pH 6.5). The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity between strain KQZ6P-2T and its closest phylogenetic neighbour Paenibacillus chibensis JCM 9905T was 98.2 %. Phylogenetic analyses using 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain KQZ6P-2T formed a distinct lineage with Paenibacillus chibensis JCM 9905T. The draft genome of strain KQZ6P-2T was 5 937 633 bp in size and its DNA G+C content was 47.2mol%. Comparative genome analysis revealed that the average nucleotide identity, digital DNA-DNA hybridization and average amino acid identity values among strain KQZ6P-2T and its related species were below the cut-off levels of 95, 70 and 95.5%, respec-tively. The cell-wall peptidoglycan of strain KQZ6P-2T contained meso-diaminopimelic acid as the diagnostic diamino acid. Major cellular fatty acids were anteiso-C15:0 and C16:0. The polar lipids comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, two unidentified aminophospholipids, four unidentified phospholipids, an unidentified aminolipid and five unidentified lipids. Based on phylogenetic, phenotypic and chemotaxonomic data, strain KQZ6P-2T represents a novel species of the genus Paenibacillus, for which the name Paenibacillus mangrovi sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is KQZ6P-2T (=MCCC 1K07172T =JCM 34931T).

RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: The Enhanced Control of Hypertension and Thrombolysis Stroke Study (ENCHANTED) showed that a low-dose alteplase was safe but not clearly non-inferior to standard-dose alteplase in acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Given the significant cost of this medicine, we undertook a cost-effectiveness analysis to determine the probability that low-dose is cost-effective relative to standard-dose alteplase in China. METHODS: For ENCHANTED participants in China with available health cost data, cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analyses were undertaken in which death or disability (modified Rankin scale scores 2-6) at 90 days and quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs) were used as outcome measures, respectively. There was adherence to standard guidelines for health economic evaluations alongside non-inferiority trials and according to a health-care payer's perspective. The equivalence margin for cost and effectiveness was set at USD 691 and -0.025 QALYs, respectively, for the base-case analysis. Probabilistic sensitivity analyses were used to evaluate the probability of low-dose alteplase being non-inferior. RESULTS: While the mean cost of alteplase was lower in the low-dose group (USD 1,569 vs. USD 2,154 in the standard-dose group), the total cost was USD 56 (95% confidence interval [CI]: -1,000-1,113) higher compared to the standard-dose group due to higher hospitalization costs in the low-dose group. There were 462 (95% CI: 415-509) and 410 (95% CI: 363-457) patients with death or disability per 1,000 patients in the low-dose and standard-dose groups, respectively. The low-dose group had marginally lower (0.008, 95% CI: -0.016-0.001) QALYs compared to their standard-dose counterparts. The low-dose group was found to have an 88% probability of being non-inferior based on cost-effectiveness versus the standard-dose group. CONCLUSIONS: This health economic evaluation alongside the ENCHANTED indicates that the use of low-dose alteplase does not save overall healthcare costs nor lead to a gain in QALYs in the management of Chinese patients with AIS compared to the use of standard dose. There is little justification on economic grounds to shift from standard-of-care thrombolysis in AIS.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally. The extent to which CVD affects the population's health varies across countries. Moreover, quantitative estimates of the trend of inequalities in CVD burden remain unclear. The objective of our study was to assess the socioeconomic inequalities and temporal trends of CVD burden across 186 countries and territories from 2000 to 2019. METHODS: We extracted data from the Global Burden of Disease, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2019, and conducted a cross-national time-series analysis. Age-standardized disability-adjusted life-year (DALY) rates were used to measure the burden of CVDs, and gross national income (GNI) per capita was used to approximate the socioeconomic development. Concentration curves and concentration indexes (CIs) were generated to evaluate the cross-national socioeconomic inequality of CVD burden. A joinpoint regression analysis was used to quantify the changes in trends in socioeconomic inequality of CVD burden from 2000 to 2019. RESULTS: The age-standardized DALY rates of CVDs decreased in 170 (91%) of 186 countries from 2000 to 2019. The concentration curves of the age-standardized DALY rates of CVDs were above the equality line from 2000 to 2019, indicating a disproportional distribution of CVD burden in low-income countries. The CIs declined from - 0.091 (95% CI: -0.128 to - 0.054) in 2000 to - 0.151 (95% CI: -0.190 to - 0.112) in 2019, indicating worsened pro-poor inequality distributions of CVD burden worldwide. A four-phase trend of changes in the CIs of age-standardized DALY rates for CVD was observed from 2000 to 2019, with an average annual percentage change (AAPC) of - 2.7% (95% CI: -3.0 to - 2.4). Decreasing trends in CIs were observed in all CVD subcategories but endocarditis, with AAPC ranging from - 6.6% (95% CI: -7.3 to - 5.9) for ischemic heart disease to - 0.2% (95% CI: -0.4 to - 0.1) for hypertensive heart disease. CONCLUSIONS: Globally, the burden of CVD has decreased in more than 90% of countries over the past two decades, accompanied by an increasing trend of cross-country inequalities. Moreover, the overall burden of CVD continues to fall primarily on low-income countries.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Cerebrovascular autoregulation (CVAR) is the mechanism that maintains constant cerebral blood flow by adjusting the caliber of the cerebral vessels. It is important to have an effective, contactless way to monitor and assess CVAR in patients with ischemia. METHODS: The adjustment of cerebral blood flow leads to changes in the conductivity of the whole brain. Here, whole-brain conductivity measured by the magnetic induction phase shift method is a valuable alternative to cerebral blood volume for non-contact assessment of CVAR. Therefore, we proposed the correlation coefficient between spontaneous slow oscillations in arterial blood pressure and the corresponding magnetic induction phase shift as a novel index called the conductivity reactivity index (CRx). In comparison with the intracranial pressure reactivity index (PRx), the feasibility of the conductivity reactivity index to assess CVAR in the early phase of cerebral ischemia has been preliminarily confirmed in animal experiments. RESULTS: There was a significant difference in the CRx between the cerebral ischemia group and the control group (p = 0.002). At the same time, there was a significant negative correlation between the CRx and the PRx (r = - 0.642, p = 0.002) after 40 min after ischemia. The Bland-Altman consistency analysis showed that the two indices were linearly related, with a minimal difference and high consistency in the early ischemic period. The sensitivity and specificity of CRx for cerebral ischemia identification were 75% and 20%, respectively, and the area under the ROC curve of CRx was 0.835 (SE = 0.084). CONCLUSION: The animal experimental results preliminarily demonstrated that the CRx can be used to monitor CVAR and identify CVAR injury in early ischemic conditions. The CRx has the potential to be used for contactless, global, bedside, and real-time assessment of CVAR of patients with ischemic stroke.

RESUMEN

This study investigated the effects of hydrothermal treatment, biological treatment and their combination on nutrients recovery from fruit and vegetable waste (FVW) and evaluated the feasibility of fruit and vegetable waste juice (FVWJ) from the combined treatment as liquid organic fertilizer. In this study, following conditions were determined suitable for FVW treatment: the temperature of 165 °C and retention time of 45 min for hydrothermal treatment, 20 h for biological treatment, and Weissella, as the dominant microbial genus present in FVW, was suggested as inoculum for biological treatment. In the combined treatment, based on the above conditions of hydrothermal and biological treatments, the yield of FVWJ was 93.03 g out of 100 g FVW, and concentrations of organic matter (1.45%, w/w), primary nutrients (0.51%, w/w), and toxic components in the FVWJ complied with the requirements for use concentration in both Chinese and European standards for liquid organic fertilizer. The economic analysis showed the net saving of 13.60 USD per ton FVW, indicating that it is an economical approach to valorize fruit and vegetable waste into liquid organic fertilizer through the combined treatment.

RESUMEN

A novel endophytic actinobacterial strain, designated MQZ13P-5T, was isolated from a piece of bark of Sonneratia apetala, collected from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. This strain was Gram-stain positive, aerobic, non-spore-forming, non-motile and rod-shaped. Comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that strain MQZ13P-5T was related to the genus Phycicoccus with exhibiting the highest similarity (98.0%) to Phycicoccus endophyticus IP6SC6T. The phylogenetic trees based on 16S rRNA gene sequences and core genes indicated that strain MQZ13P-5T belonged to the genus Phycicoccus and could not be assigned to any described species. The average nucleotide identity (ANI) and digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) values between strain MQZ13P-5T and type strains of Phycicoccus species were less than 84% and 27%, respectively, below the thresholds for species delineation. This strain showed chemotaxonomic and phenotypic properties consistent with its classification in the genus Phycicoccus. Based on the taxonomic data, strain MQZ13P-5T should represent a novel species of the genus Phycicoccus, for which the name Phycicoccus sonneraticus sp. nov. is proposed, with the type strain MQZ13P-5T (= CGMCC 1.18744T = JCM 34337T).

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The Global Burden of Disease, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) has reported that HIV/AIDS continues to take a disproportionate toll on global health. However, the trends in global inequality of HIV/AIDS burden have remained ambiguous over the past two decades. The objectives of our study were to assess the socioeconomic inequalities, and temporal trends of HIV/AIDS across 186 countries and territories from 2000 to 2019. METHODS: We extracted data from the GBD 2019, and conducted a cross-national time-series analysis. Age-standardized disability-adjusted life-year (DALY) rates were used to measure the global burden of HIV/AIDS. Gross national income (GNI) per capita was used to approximate the national socioeconomic status. Linear regression analysis was conducted to investigate the relationship between age-standardized DALY rates due to HIV/AIDS and GNI per capita. The concentration curve and concentration index (CI) were generated to evaluate the cross-national socioeconomic inequality of HIV/AIDS burden. A joinpoint regression analysis was used to quantify the changes in trends in socioeconomic inequality of HIV/AIDS burden from 2000 to 2019. RESULTS: A decrease in age-standardized DALY rates for HIV/AIDS occurred in 132 (71%) of 186 countries/territories from 2000 to 2019, of which 52 (39%) countries/territories achieved a decrease in DALYs of more than 50%, and 27 (52%) of the 52 were from sub-Saharan Africa. The concentration curves of the age-standardized DALY rates of HIV/AIDS were above the equality line from 2000 to 2019. The CI rose from - 0.4625 (95% confidence interval - 0.6220 to -0.2629) in 2000 to -0.4122 (95% confidence interval - 0.6008 to -0.2235) in 2019. A four-phase trend of changes in the CIs of age-standardized DALY rates for HIV/AIDS was observed across 2000 to 2019, with an average increase of 0.6% (95% confidence interval 0.4 to 0.8, P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Globally, the burden of HIV/AIDS has decreased over the past two decades, accompanied by a trend of narrowing cross-country inequalities of HIV/AIDS burden. Moreover, the burden of HIV/AIDS continues to fall primarily in low-income countries.

RESUMEN

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a vital global health problem. The characteristics are high morbidity, high mortality, difficulty in early diagnosis and insensitivity to chemotherapy. The main therapeutic schemes for treating HCC mainly include Tyrosine kinase inhibitors represented by sorafenib and lenvatinib. In recent years, immunotherapy for HCC has also achieved certain results. However, a great number of patients failed to benefit from systemic therapies. FAM50A belongs to the FAM50 family and can be used as a DNA-binding protein or transcription factor. It may take part in the splicing of RNA precursors. In studies of cancer, FAM50A has been demonstrated to participate in the progression of myeloid breast cancer and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. However, the effect of FAM50A on HCC is still unknown. In this study, we have demonstrated the cancer-promoting effects and diagnostic value of FAM50A in HCC using multiple databases and surgical samples. We identified the role of FAM50A in the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) and immunotherapy efficacy in HCC. We also proved the effects of FAM50A on the malignancy of HCC in vitro and in vivo. In conclusion, we confirmed that FAM50A is an important proto-oncogene in HCC. FAM50A acts as a diagnostic marker, immunomodulator and therapeutic target for HCC.

RESUMEN

The prevalence and recurrence of whole-genome duplication in plants and its major role in evolution have been well recognized. Despite great efforts, many aspects of genome evolution, particularly the temporal progression of genomic responses to allopolyploidy and the underlying mechanisms, remain poorly understood. The rice genus Oryza consists of both recently formed and older allopolyploid species, representing an attractive system for studying the genome evolution after allopolyploidy. In this study, through screening BAC libraries and sequencing and annotating the targeted BAC clones, we generated orthologous genomic sequences surrounding the DEP1 locus, a major grain yield QTL in cultivated rice, from four Oryza polyploids of various ages and their likely diploid genome donors or close relatives. Based on sequenced DEP1 region and published data from three other genomic regions, we investigated the temporal evolutionary dynamics of four polyploid genomes at both genetic and expression levels. In the recently formed BBCC polyploid, Oryza minuta, genome dominance was not observed and its short-term responses to allopolyploidy are mainly manifested as a high proportion of homoeologous gene pairs showing unequal expression. This could partly be explained by parental legacy, rewiring of divergent regulatory networks and epigenetic modulation. Moreover, we detected an ongoing diploidization process in this genus, and suggest that the expression divergence driven by changes of selective constraint probably plays a big role in the long-term diploidization. These findings add novel insights into our understanding of genome evolution after allopolyploidy, and could facilitate crop improvements through hybridization and polyploidization.

RESUMEN

A Gram-stain-negative and short rod-shaped strain CBK1P-4T, isolated from surface-sterilized bark of Avicennia marina was investigated by a polyphasic taxonomic approach to resolve its taxonomic position. Strain CBK1P-4T grew at 10-30 °C (optimum, 25 °C), pH 5.0-9.0 (optimum, pH 5.5) and in the presence of 0-9% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1-2%). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain CBK1P-4T belonged to the genus Jiella and was most closely related to species of the genus Jiella (97.4-98.3%). The genome comparisons between strain CBK1P-4T and the closely related species indicated that average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values were below the recommended thresholds for assigning strains to the same species (95-96% and 70%, respectively). The cell wall peptidoglycan contained meso-diaminopimelic acid as diagnostic diamino acid. The principal fatty acids were C18:1ω7c and C19:0cycloω8c. The polar lipids were mainly comprised of phosphatidylcholine, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylmonomethylethanolamine, phosphatidylethanolamine, two unidentified aminolipids, one unidentified phospholipid and one unidentified glycolipid. The dominant respiratory quinone was ubiquinone-10. The DNA G + C content of strain CBK1P-4T was 66.7%. Based on the phenotypic features, phylogenetic analysis as well as genome analysis, we conclude that strain CBK1P-4T represents a novel Jiella species, for which the name Jiella avicenniae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is CBK1P-4T (= CGMCC 1.18742T = JCM 34330T).

RESUMEN

A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, motile, non-spore-forming, short-rod-shaped strain that did not produce diffusible pigment, designated CBK3Z-3T, was isolated from a branch of Kandelia candel, collected from the Beilun Estuary National Nature Reserve in Guangxi Zhang Autonomous Region, PR China, and investigated by a polyphasic approach to determine its taxonomic position. Strain CBK3Z-3T grew at pH 5.0-10.0 (optimum, pH 8.0), 20-37 °C (optimum, 25-30 °C) and with 0-10 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 2-3 %). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain CBK3Z-3T was closely related to species of genus Stakelama and had the highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 98.7 % to Stakelama pacifica CGMCC 1.7294T. The DNA G+C content value of strain CBK3Z-3T was 62.6 mol%. The diagnostic diamino acid in the cell-wall peptidoglycan was meso-diaminopimelic acid and the polar lipids comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine, sphingoglycolipid, an unidentified aminolipid and an unidentified lipid. The major fatty acids were C18 : 1 ω7c and C16 : 0. The average nucleotide identity, estimated digital DNA-DNA hybridization and average amino acid identity values between strain CBK3Z-3T and the type strain of Stakelama pacifica CGMCC 1.7294T were 80.4, 23.1 and 81.5 %, respectively. Based on the phylogenetic, phenotypic and chemotaxonomic data, strain CBK3Z-3T should be designated as a novel species of the genus Stakelama, for which the name Stakelama flava sp.nov. is proposed. The type strain is CBK3Z-3T (=JCM 34534T=CGMCC 1.18972T).

RESUMEN

A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, motile, rod-shaped bacterium, designated CMS5P-6T, was isolated from a surface-sterilized bark of Aegiceras corniculatum collected from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, PR China, and investigated by a polyphasic approach to determine its taxonomic position. Strain CMS5P-6T was found to grow optimally with 0-1 % (w/v) NaCl, at 30 °C and pH 6.0-7.0. Substrate mycelia and aerial mycelia were not formed, and no diffusible pigments were observed on the media tested. Phylogenetic analysis showed that strain CMS5P-6T showed high 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 96.7 % to Hephaestia caeni DSM 25527T and Sphingomonas colocasiea CC-MHH0539T. The average nucleotide identity, digital DNA-DNA hybridization and average amino acid identity values between strain CMS5P-6T and H. caeni DSM 25527T were 78.0, 21.7 and 70.8 %, respectively. The average nucleotide identity, digital DNA-DNA hybridization and average amino acid identity values between strain CMS5P-6T and S. colocasiea JCM 31229T were 74.0, 19.9 and 61.4 %, respectively. Phylogenomic analyses based on genome sequences showed that strain CMS5P-6T and H. caeni DSM 25527T formed a distinct cluster within the family Sphingomonadaceae and far away from S. colocasiea JCM 31229T. The DNA G+C content of strain CMS5P-6T was determined to be 65.6 mol%. The cell-wall peptidoglycan was found to contain meso-diaminopimelic acid as the diagnostic diamino acid and ubiquinone Q-10 was identified as the respiratory lipoquinone. The polar lipids were found to comprise diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, sphingoglycolipid and two unidentified aminolipids, and the major fatty acids were identified as C18 : 1 ω7c, C19 : 0 cycloω8c and C16 : 0. On the basis of phylogenetic, genomic, chemotaxonomic and phenotypic data, strain CMS5P-6T can be concluded to represent a novel species of the genus Hephaestia, for which the name Hephaestia mangrovi sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is CMS5P-6T (=JCM 33125T=CGMCC 1.13868T).

RESUMEN

A novel species of endophytic actinobacterium, designated strain GBK3QG-3T, was isolated from surface-sterilized root of Kandelia candel collected from Beilun Estuary, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, PR China. Cells of strain GBK3QG-3T were Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, non-spore-forming and rod-shaped. Growth of GBK3QG-3T was observed at 10-40 °C (optimum, 30 °C), pH 5.0-9.0 (optimum, pH 7.0) and in the presence of 0-3 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 0 %). The G+C content of genomic DNA was determined to be 72.2 mol%. On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, strain GBK3QG-3T was most related to the type strain of Nocardioides agrisoli CCTCC AB 2017058T (97.7 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity), followed by Nocardioides ginkgobilobae SYP-A7303T (97.0 %) and Nocardioides aquiterrae GW-9T (96.9 %). Average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain GBK3QG-3T and some strains of the genus Nocardioides with publicly available genomes were below 84.3 and 30.0 %, respectively. The cell-wall peptidoglycan contained ll-diaminopimelic acid. The polar lipids comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylinositol, an unknown phospholipid and an unknown lipid. The major menaquinone was identified as MK-8(H4), and the major fatty acids were identified as iso-C16 : 0, iso-C17 : 0 and anteiso-C17 : 0. Based on evidence collected from the phenotypic, genotypic and phylogenetic analyses, we propose a novel species named Nocardioides mangrovi sp. nov. The type strain is GBK3QG-3T (=CGMCC 4.7708T=JCM 34553T).

RESUMEN

Two endophytic bacteria, designated strains CQZ9-1T and MQZ9-1, were isolated from semi-mangrove plant Acrostichum aureum collected from Maowei Sea Mangrove Nature Reserve in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, PR China. The two strains possessed almost identical 16S rRNA gene sequences (99.7 %). The average nucleotide identity (ANI), average amino acid identity (AAI) and the digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) values between the two strains were 100 %, indicating that they represented the same species. The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities between strains CQZ9-1T, MQZ9-1 and the most closely related type strains, Jiella mangrovi KSK16Y-1T, Jiella sonneratiae MQZ13P-4T and Jiella endophytica CBS 5Q-3T were 98.0-98.1, 97.3-97.4 and 97.3-97.4 %, respectively. The results of phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences and genome sequences indicated that CQZ9-1T and MQZ9-1 formed a distinct lineage with J. endophytica CBS5Q-3T, Jiella pacifica 40Bstr34T, J. mangrovi KSK16Y-1T, J. sonneratiae MQZ13P-4T, Jiella aquimaris JCM 30119T and J. aquimaris 22II-16-19i. The draft genomes of strains CQZ9-1T and MQZ9-1 were 4  162  933 bp and 4  164  266 bp in size, respectively, and their DNA G+C contents were both 63.8 %. Comparative genome analysis of the two strains and the type strains of related species revealed ANI, AAI and dDDH values below the cut-off levels of 95-96, 95.5 and 70 %, respectively. The ubiquinone detected in CQZ9-1T was Q-10. The major cellular fatty acid of strains CQZ9-1T and MQZ9-1 was found to be C18:1ω7c. Combined data from phenotypic, phylogenetic and chemotaxonomic studies indicated that CQZ9-1T and MQZ9-1 represent a novel species of the genus Jiella, for which the name Jiella flava sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is CQZ9-1T (= CGMCC 1.18725T = JCM 34331T).

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Universal health coverage is a challenge to horizontal equity in healthcare financing. Since 1998, China has extended its healthcare insurance schemes, and individuals with equal incomes but different attributes such as social status, profession, geographic access to health care, and health conditions, are covered by the same health insurance scheme. This study aims to examine horizontal inequity in the Chinese healthcare financing system in 2002 and 2007 using data from two national household health surveys. METHODS: Multi-stage stratified random sampling was used to select 3,946 households with 13,619 individuals in 2002, and 3,958 households with 12,973 individuals in 2007. A decomposition method was used to measure the horizontal inequity and reranking in healthcare finance. RESULTS: Over the period 2002-2007, the absolute value of horizontal inequity in total healthcare payments decreased from 997.83 percentage points to 199.87 percentage points in urban areas, and increased from 22.28 percentage points to 48.80 percentage points in rural areas. The horizontal inequity in social health insurance remained almost the same in urban areas, at around 27 percentage points, but decreased from 110.90 percentage points to 7.80 percentage points in rural areas. Horizontal inequity in out-of-pocket payments decreased from 178.43 percentage points to 80.96 percentage points in urban areas, and increased from 26.06 percentage points to 41.40 percentage points in rural areas. CONCLUSION: The horizontal inequity of healthcare finance in China over the period 2002-2007 was reduced by general taxation and social insurance, but strongly affected by out-of-pocket payments. Increasing the benefits from social health insurance would help to reduce horizontal inequity.
