RESUMEN

The dehydrogenation reaction of bioderived ethanol is of particular interest for the synthesis of fuels and value-added chemicals. However, this reaction historically suffered from high energy consumption (>260 °C or >0.8 V) and low efficiency. Herein, the efficient conversion of alcohol to hydrogen and aldehyde is achieved by integrating the thermal dehydrogenation reaction with electrochemical hydrogen transfer at low temperature (120 °C) and low voltage (0.06 V), utilizing a bifunctional catalyst (Ru/C) with both thermal-catalytic and electrocatalytic activities. Specifically, the coupled electrochemical hydrogen separation procedure can serve as electrochemical hydrogen pumps, which effectively promote the equilibrium of ethanol dehydrogenation toward hydrogen and acetaldehyde production and simultaneously purifies hydrogen at the cathode. By utilizing this strategy, we achieved boosted hydrogen and acetaldehyde yields of 1,020 mmol g-1 h-1 and 1,185 mmol g-1 h-1, respectively, which are threefold higher than the exclusive ethanol thermal dehydrogenation. This work opens up a prospective route for the high-efficiency production of hydrogen and acetaldehyde via coupled thermal-electrocatalysis.

RESUMEN

Hydrogen production from methanol represents an energy-sustainable way to produce ethanol, but it normally results in heavy CO2 emissions. The selective conversion of methanol into H2 and valuable chemical feedstocks offers a promising strategy; however, it is limited by the harsh operating conditions and low conversion efficiency. Herein, we realize efficient high-purity H2 and CO production from methanol by coupling the thermocatalytic methanol dehydrogenation with electrocatalytic hydrogen oxidation on a bifunctional Ru/C catalyst. Electrocatalysis enables the acceleration of C-H cleavage and reduces the partial pressure of hydrogen at the anode, which drives the chemical equilibrium and significantly enhances methanol dehydrogenation. Furthermore, a bilayer Ru/C + Pd/C electrode is designed to mitigate CO poisoning and facilitate hydrogen oxidation. As a result, a high yield of H2 (558.54 mmol h-1 g-1) with high purity (99.9%) was achieved by integrating an applied cell voltage of 0.4 V at 200 °C, superior to the conventional thermal and electrocatalytic processes, and CO is the main product at the anode. This work presents a new avenue for efficient H2 production together with valuable chemical synthesis from methanol.

RESUMEN

Methanol steam reforming (MSR) provides an alternative way for efficient production and safe transportation of hydrogen but requires harsh conditions and complicated purification processes. In this work, an efficient electrochemical-assisted MSR reaction for pure H2 production at lower temperature (~140 °C) is developed by coupling the electrocatalysis reaction into the MSR in a polymer electrolyte membrane electrolysis reactor. By electrochemically assisted, the two critical steps including the methanol dehydrogenation and water-gas shift reaction are accelerated, which is attributed to decreasing the methanol dehydrogenation energy and promoting the dissociation of H2 O to OH* by the applied potential. Furthermore, the reduced H2 partial pressure by the hydrogen oxidation and reduction process further promotes MSR. The combination of these advantages not only efficiently decreases the MSR temperature but also achieves the high rate of hydrogen production of 505 mmol H2 g Pt -1 h-1 with exceptionally high H2 selectivity (99 %) at 180 °C and a low voltage (0.4 V), and the productivity is about 30-fold than that of traditional MSR. This study opens up a new avenue to design novel electrolysis cells for hydrogen production.

RESUMEN

Due to the robust oxidation conditions in strong acid oxygen evolution reaction (OER), developing an OER electrocatalyst with high efficiency remains challenging in polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) water electrolyzer. Recent theoretical research suggested that reducing the coordination number of Ir-O is feasible to reduce the energy barrier of the rate-determination step, potentially accelerating the OER. Inspired by this, we experimentally verified the Ir-O coordination number's role at model catalysts, then synthesized low-coordinated IrOx nanoparticles toward a durable PEM water electrolyzer. We first conducted model studies on commercial rutile-IrO2 using plasma-based defect engineering. The combined in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) analysis and computational studies clarify why the decreased coordination numbers increase catalytic activity. Next, under the model studies' guidelines, we explored a low-coordinated Ir-based catalyst with a lower overpotential of 231 mV@10 mA cm-2 accompanied by long durability (100 h) in an acidic OER. Finally, the assembled PEM water electrolyzer delivers a low voltage (1.72 V@1 A cm-2 ) as well as excellent stability exceeding 1200 h (@1 A cm-2 ) without obvious decay. This work provides a unique insight into the role of coordination numbers, paving the way for designing Ir-based catalysts for PEM water electrolyzers.

RESUMEN

The durability degradation during stack-operating conditions seriously deteriorates the lifetime and performance of the fuel cell. To alleviate the rapid potential rise and performance degradation, an anode design is proposed to match the working temperature of high-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells (HT-PEMFCs) with the release temperature of hydrogen from palladium. The result is significantly enhanced hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) activity of Pd and superior performance of the Pd anode. Furthermore, Pd as hydrogen buffer and oxygen absorbent layer in the anode can provide additional in situ hydrogen and absorb infiltrated oxygen during local fuel starvation to maintain HOR and suppress reverse-current degradation. Compared with the traditional Pt/C anode, the Pd/C also greatly improved HT-PEMFCs durability during start-up/shut-down and current mutation. The storage/release of hydrogen provides innovative guidance for improving the durability of PEMFCs.

RESUMEN

The regulation of the ion selectivity by electric field and ion association on the Li+ selectivity of carboxyl functionalized graphene nanopores are investigated by molecular dynamics simulation. Carboxylate graphene nanopores of sub-2 nm exhibit excellent Li+ selectivity under the electric field of 1.0 V nm-1 . The results show that ion association inspired by electric field may be a key factor affecting ion selectivity of sub-2 nm nanopores. The ion association of Mg2+ and Cl- can be promoted obviously near the nanopores under the electric field of 1.0 V nm-1 . The migrating of Mg2+ can be retarded by stable clusters of Mg2+ and Cl- formed near nanopores. The degree of association of Li+ with Cl- is relatively low and the disassociation of the Li+ cluster is easier so that Li+ can more easily pass through the nanopores. These results gain insight into the effect of ion association inspired by electric field and nanoconfinement of graphene nanopore on Mg2+ /Li+ separation, and provide helpful information for the application of nanoporous materials in extraction of Li+ ion from salt-lake brine.

RESUMEN

High-entropy oxides (HEOs), a new concept of entropy stabilization, exhibit unique structures and fascinating properties, and are thus important class of materials with significant technological potential. However, the conventional high-temperature synthesis techniques tend to afford micron-scale HEOs with low surface area, and the catalytic activity of available HEOs is still far from satisfactory because of their limited exposed active sites and poor intrinsic activity. Here we report a low-temperature plasma strategy for preparing defect-rich HEOs nanosheets with high surface area, and for the first time employ them for 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) electrooxidation. Owing to the nanosheets structure, abundant oxygen vacancies, and high surface area, the quinary (FeCrCoNiCu)3 O4 nanosheets deliver improved activity for HMF oxidation with lower onset potential and faster kinetics, outperforming that of HEOs prepared by high-temperature method. Our method opens new opportunities for synthesizing nanostructured HEOs with great potential applications.

RESUMEN

Primary familial brain calcification (PFBC) is a rare neurodegenerative disorder with four causative genes (SLC20A2, PDGFRB, PDGFB, and XPR1) that have been identified. Here, we aim to describe the mutational spectrum of four causative genes in a series of 226 unrelated Chinese PFBC patients. Mutations in four causative genes were detected in 16.8% (38/226) of PFBC patients. SLC20A2 mutations accounted for 14.2% (32/226) of all patients. Mutations in the other three genes were relatively rare, accounting for 0.9% (2/226) of all patients, respectively. Clinically, 44.8% of genetically confirmed patients (probands and relatives) were considered symptomatic. The most frequent symptoms were chronic headache, followed by movement disorders and vertigo. Moreover, the total calcification score was significantly higher in the symptomatic group compared to the asymptomatic group. Functionally, we observed impaired phosphate transport induced by seven novel missense mutations in SLC20A2 and two novel mutations in XPR1. The mutation p.D164Y in XPR1 might result in low protein expression through an enhanced proteasome pathway. In conclusion, our study further confirms that mutations in SLC20A2 are the major cause of PFBC and provides additional evidence for the crucial roles of phosphate transport impairment in the pathogenies of PFBC.

RESUMEN

2,5-Furandicarboxylic acid was obtained from the electrooxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) with non-noble metal-based catalysts. Moreover, combining the biomass oxidation with the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) increased the energy conversion efficiency of an electrolyzer and also generated value-added products at both electrodes. Here, the reaction pathway on the surface of a carbon-coupled nickel nitride nanosheet (Ni3 N@C) electrode was evaluated by surface-selective vibrational spectroscopy using sum frequency generation (SFG) during the electrochemical oxidation. The Ni3 N@C electrode shows catalytic activities for HMF oxidation and the HER. As the first in situ SFG study on transition-metal nitride for the electrooxidation upgrade of HMF, this work not only demonstrates that the reaction pathway of electrochemical oxidation but also provides an opportunity for nonprecious metal nitrides to simultaneously upgrade biomass and produce H2 under ambient conditions.

RESUMEN

Coal is a porous medium and natural absorbent. It can be used for its original purpose after adsorbing organic compounds, its value does not reduce and the pollutants are recycled, and then through systemic circulation of coking wastewater zero emissions can be achieved. Thus, a novel method of industrial organic wastewater treatment using adsorption on coal is introduced. Coking coal was used as an adsorbent in batch adsorption experiments. The quinoline, indole, pyridine and phenol removal efficiencies of coal adsorption were investigated. In addition, several operating parameters which impact removal efficiency such as coking coal consumption, oscillation contact time, initial concentration and pH value were also investigated. The coking coal exhibited properties well-suited for organics' adsorption. The experimental data were fitted to Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms as well as Temkin and Redlich-Peterson (R-P) models. The Freundlich isotherm model provided reasonable models of the adsorption process. Furthermore, the purification mechanism of organic compounds' adsorption on coking coal was analysed.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to investigate the association of the genotype and allele frequencies of the polymorphisms rs4379368, rs10504861, rs10915437, rs12134493 and rs13208321 in She people of China with migraine headache susceptibility. The five alleles were previously identified as being associated with migraine in a Western population, but it was not known if this association would hold in a She population. rs4379368 is in the succinic HMG coenzyme A transferase (C7orf10) gene; rs10504861 is near the matrix metallopeptidase 16 (MMP16) gene; rs10915437 is near the adherens junctions associated protein 1 (AJAP1) gene; rs12134493 is upstream of the tetraspanin 2 (TSPAN2) gene; and rs13208321 is within the four and a half LIM domains protein 5 (FHL5) gene. METHODS: This was a case-controlled study conducted in She people of Fujian province in China. Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism and direct sequencing were performed. Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to assess the association of the different genotypes of each SNP with migraine. RESULTS: The rs4379368 T allele was not in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and was more common than the C allele in subjects with migraine (58.7 %; P = 0.049), possibly suggesting a selection bias for T allele in this population. In support of this, the CT and TT genotypes were more frequent in the migraine compared with the control groups (54.0 % and 31.7 % vs. 48.0 % and 28.7 %, respectively; P = 0.019). These genotypes were also more common in females with migraines than females without migraines (53.8 % and 30.9 % vs. 46.7 % and 27.6 %; P = 0.026). Univariate and multivariate analyses found the CC genotype of rs4379368 and AA or AG genotype of rs13208321 were associated with a reduced risk of migraine (P values ≤0.039). CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that rs4379368 and rs13208321 are potential genetic markers for migraine in this She population. The findings of this study and others indicate important differences between ethnic populations in regard to genetic markers of migraine susceptibility.

RESUMEN

Waterborne epoxy (WEP) coatings with enhanced corrosion resistance were prepared using graphene oxide (GO) that was obtained from kish graphite, and amino-functionalized graphene oxide (AGO) was modified by 2-aminomalonamide. The structural characteristics of the GO and AGO were analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). And the anti-corrosive performance of waterborne epoxy-cased composite coatings with different addition amounts of AGO was investigated using electrochemical measurements, pull-off adhesion tests, and salt spray tests. The results indicate that AGO15/WEP with 0.15 wt.% of AGO has the best anti-corrosive performance, and the lowest frequency impedance modulus increased from 1.03 × 108 to 1.63 × 1010 ohm·cm-2 compared to that of WEP. Furthermore, AGO15/WEP also demonstrates the minimal corrosion products or bubbles in the salt spray test for 200 h, affirming its exceptional long-term corrosion protection capability.

RESUMEN

Background: Endoscopic sclerotherapy is a widely used minimally invasive procedure for internal hemorrhoids, yet postoperative symptoms remain a concern. The purpose of this study is to investigate the postoperative adjuvant efficacy of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum. Method: In this study, patients (≥18 years) with internal hemorrhoids that conformed to Goligher's classification of grade I-III received administration of L. plantarum MH-301 for 4 weeks following endoscopic sclerotherapy. The primary clinical endpoint in this study was the improvement rate, which was defined as the percentage of patients whose n-HDSS score decreased to 0 following the procedure. Stools were collected for high-throughput sequencing analysis post operation. Result: A total of 103 participants (51 in the LP group and 52 in the C group) were recruited, with 96 completing the entire trial (49 in the LP group and 47 in the C group). The primary clinical endpoint showed a higher improvement rate in the LP group (87.8% vs. 70.2%, P = 0.045). High-throughput sequencing analysis demonstrated that the LP group had a greater diversity of intestinal microbiota and a higher relative abundance of beneficial bacteria such as Bifidobacterium, Megamonas, and Lactobacillus. No significant difference in postoperative complications and adverse events was found. Conclusion: This paper concludes that the administration of L. plantarum MH-301 after endoscopic sclerotherapy can further increase the efficacy of the procedure and improve bowel movements. Regulation of intestinal microbiota may be the potential mechanism for the efficacy of L. plantarum MH-301.

RESUMEN

Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) is an autoimmune demyelinating disease with IgG against aquaporin 4 (AQP4) in more than two thirds of patients. Anti-myelin-oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody is found in some AQP4-negative NMOSD patients and MOG antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) is thought to be distinct from NMOSD. Due to the high disabling nature of NMOSD, treatment strategy on first attack is crucial for good prognosis. Rituximab (RTX), an anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody (mAb), is the first-line treatment for NMOSD. However, RTX can be limited by the relatively high rate of systemic allergic reaction. Herein, we reported a rare case of AQP4 and MOG-IgG double positive NMOSD patient effectively and safely treated with ofatumumab (OFA), a novel fully humanized anti-CD20 mAb.

RESUMEN

Persulfate non-radical oxidation have excellent catalytic capability for degrading specific contaminants in complicated water environments. Nevertheless, the preparation of high-performance activators and their application in actual water treatment in continuous flow mode are still scarce and unsatisfactory. In this work, copper-, manganese-, and copper/manganese-doped ceramsites (Cu-C, Mn-C and Cu/Mn-C), successfully fabricated through a facile impregnation-calcination approach, were characterized and evaluated for their performance to activate potassium peroxydisulfate (PDS) and degrade oxytetracycline (OTC) under different pH, ceramsite dosages, and PDS dosages. Compared with Cu-C and Mn-C, Cu/Mn-C showed the highest OTC degradation rate (0.0264 min-1) via activating PDS with an OTC removal efficiency of 98.2% in 240 min at an initial OTC concentration of 40 mg/L. The removal efficiency of OTC by Cu/Mn-C only decreased to 92.8% after 5 cycles; the activating ability of the used Cu/Mn-C was almost completely recovered through 2 h of calcination at 500 °C. The results of electron paramagnetic resonance and radical quenching suggest that singlet oxygen (1O2) was unveiled to be the dominant reactive oxygen species (ROS) for contaminant degradation, originating from the regrouping of superoxide ions or reduction of active Cu/Mn sites. Synergies between Cu and Mn species to enhance ROS yield were the primary activating mechanisms. Six possible routes of OTC decomposition were inferred. Additionally, Cu/Mn-C behaved excellently in treating an actual wastewater using a continuous flow fixed-bed reactor. It is believed that this novel Cu/Mn-C/PDS system may create a fresh path to design effective and cheap metal-ceramsite hybrid activators for degrading recalcitrant contaminants in the actual application process.

RESUMEN

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most frequently diagnosed cancer with unfavorable clinical outcomes worldwide. circFNDC3B plays as a tumor suppressor in CRC, however, the mechanism of circFNDC3B in CRC remains ambiguous. The stem-like properties of CRC cells were detected by the evaluation of stemness markers, sphere formation assay and flow cytometry. qRT-PCR, FISH, IHC, and western blotting assessed the expression and localization of circFNDC3B, RNF41, ASB6, and stemness markers in CRC. The metastatic capabilities of CRC cells were examined by wound healing and Transwell assays, as well as in vivo liver metastasis model. Bioinformatics analysis, RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP), RNA pull-down assay and co-IP were used to detect the associations among circFNDC3B, FXR2, RNF41, and ASB6. Downregulated circFNDC3B was associated with unfavorite survival in CRC patients, and circFNDC3B overexpression suppressed CRC stemness and metastasis. Mechanistically, studies revealed that YTHDC1 facilitated cytoplasmic translocation of m6A-modified circFNDC3B, and circFNDC3B enhanced RNF41 mRNA stability and expression via binding to FXR2. circFNDC3B promoted ASB6 degradation through RNF41-mediated ubiquitination. Functional studies showed that silencing of RNF41 counteracted circFNDC3B-suppressed CRC stemness and metastasis, and ASB6 overexpression reversed circFNDC3B- or RNF41-mediated regulation of CRC stemness and metastasis. Elevated ASB6 was positively correlated with unfavorite survival in CRC patients. In vivo experiments further showed that circFNDC3B or RNF41 overexpression repressed tumor growth, stemness and liver metastasis via modulating ASB6. Taken together, m6A-modified circFNDC3B inhibited CRC stemness and metastasis via RNF41-dependent ASB6 degradation. These findings provide novel insights and important clues for targeted therapeutic strategies of CRC.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the establishment of a risk assessment system for peptic ulcer (PU) recurrence and implement an individualized intervention for PU patients with a moderate to high recurrence risk to reduce the recurrence of PU in patients with a moderate to high recurrence risk. METHODS: The factors for PU recurrence were collected through consulting the literature, and a risk prediction model for PU recurrence was established using the univariate binary and multivariate multinomial Logistic stepwise regression analysis. According to the model, a total of 235 PU patients were divided into patients with high, moderate and low recurrence risks. A total of 71 PU patients with moderate to high recurrence risks were selected as the study subjects, and further divided into the control group (n=35) and the experimental group (n=36). The control group was not treated with intervention, while the experimental group was treated with individualized intervention. The PU recurrence, adverse emotions and changes of pain degree were assessed in the two groups at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months after intervention. RESULTS: The univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that drinking alcohol, smoking, chronic diseases, oral NSAIDS and depression were associated with the recurrence of PU. Individualized intervention improved the recurrence rate, anxiety, depression, pain degree and quality of life of patients with moderate to high PU recurrence risk. CONCLUSION: Drinking alcohol, smoking, chronic diseases, oral NSAIDS and depression were associated with the recurrence of PU. Individualized intervention can improve the quality of prognosis and the recurrence risk of PU in patients, which has positive clinical significance.

RESUMEN

Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis) as a commercially important species is widely cultured in China. However, E. sinensis is prone to agonistic behavior, which causes physical damage and wastes energy resources, negatively impacting their growth and survival. Therefore, understanding the regulatory mechanisms that underlie the switching of such behavior is essential for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective aquaculture of E. sinensis. The 5-HT2B receptor is a key downstream target of serotonin (5-HT), which is involved in regulating animal behavior. In this study, the full-length sequence of 5-HT2B gene was cloned. The total length of the 5-HT2B gene was found to be 3127 bp with a 236 bp 5'-UTR (untranslated region), a 779 bp 3'-UTR, and a 2112 bp open reading frame encoding 703 amino acids. Phylogenetic tree analysis revealed that the 5-HT2B amino acid sequence of E. sinensis is highly conserved with that of Cancer borealis. Using in vitro co-culture and luciferase assays, the miR-143 targets the 5-HT2B 3'-UTR and inhibits 5-HT2B expression was confirmed. Furthermore, RT-qPCR and Western blotting analyses revealed that the miR-143 mimic significantly inhibits 5-HT2B mRNA and protein expression. However, injection of miR-143 did not decrease agonistic behavior, indicating that 5-HT2B is not involved in the regulation of such behavior in E. sinensis.

RESUMEN

Photoperiod plays an important role in individual growth, development, and metabolism in crustaceans. The growth and reproduction of crabs are closely related to the photoperiod. However, as of yet, there are still no transcriptomic reports of eyestalk ganglions treated under different photoperiods in the Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis), which is a benthonic crab with high commercial value in Asia. In this study, we collected the eyestalk ganglions of crabs that were reared under different photoperiods, including a control group (L: D = 12 h: 12 h, named CC), a constant light group (L: D = 24 h: 0 h, named LL) and a constant darkness group (L: D = 0 h: 24 h, named DD). RNA sequencing was performed on these tissues in order to examine the effects of different photoperiods. The total numbers of clean reads from the CC, LL and DD groups were 48,772,584 bp, 53,943,281 bp and 53,815,178 bp, respectively. After de novo assembly, 161,380 unigenes were obtained and were matched with different databases. The DEGs were significantly enriched in phototransduction and energy metabolism pathways. Results from RT-qPCR showed that TRP channel protein (TRP) in the phototransduction pathway had a significantly higher level of expression in LL and DD groups than in the CC group. We found that the downregulation of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC) gene and the upregulation phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PPC) gene were involved in energy metabolism processes in LL or DD. In addition, we also found that the upregulation of the expression level of the genes Gαq, pyruvate kinase (PK), NADH peroxidase (NADH) and ATPase is involved in phototransduction and energy metabolism. These results may shed some light on the molecular mechanism underlying the effect of photoperiod in physiological activity of E. sinensis.

RESUMEN

Agonistic behaviour is common in an encounter between two crustaceans. It often causes limb disability and consumes a lot of energy, which is harmful for the growth and survival of commercially important crustaceans. In the present study, we mainly focused on the agonistic behaviour of the Chinese mitten crab, Eriocheir sinensis, which is an important species of the aquaculture industry in China. We recorded agnostic behaviour with a high-definition camera and preliminarily evaluated the role of serotonin (5-HT) or dopamine (DA)-cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)-protein kinase A (PKA) pathway and eyestalk in the behaviour. The results showed that agonistic behaviour in E. sinensis consisted of three stages: approach, contact and fight. We found that the number of fights and cumulative time of fight were significantly higher in the male vs. male group than in the female vs. female and female vs. male groups (P < 0.05). After 1 h of agonistic behaviour, 5-HT concentration showed a significant increase and DA concentration showed a significant decrease when compared with the control group (no encounter; P < 0.05). 5-HT1B and 5-HT2B mRNA levels showed a significant increase in the eyestalk (P < 0.05). 5-HT7 mRNA levels showed significant downregulation in the thoracic ganglia and DA1A mRNA levels showed upregulation in the intestine (P < 0.05). DA2 mRNA levels showed a significant decrease in the eyestalk (P < 0.05). These changes were accompanied by a significant increase in cAMP level and significant decrease in PKA level in the haemolymph (P < 0.05). In addition, a significant decrease in glucose levels was detected after the agonistic behaviour. Crustacean hyperglycemic hormone (CHH) mRNA levels showed significant upregulation in the eyestalk and significant downregulation in the intestine (P < 0.05). The number of fights and cumulative time of fight in the left eyestalk ablation (L-X vs. L-X) group were more and longer than those in the intact eyestalk (C vs. C), right eyestalk ablation (R-X vs. R-X) and bilateral eyestalk ablation (D-X vs. D-X) groups. In short, E. sinensis shows special agonistic behaviour modulated by 5-HT or DA-cAMP-PKA pathway and eyestalk, especially the left eyestalk.
