Desmoid fibromatosis (DF) is a connective tissue tumor that grows aggressively in musculoaponeurotic tissues. It has an annual incidence rate of 2-4/million and is commonly seen in individuals aged 15 to 60 years, with female predominance. While it can occur in any body part, it is commonly found in the extremities, abdominal wall, and abdominal mesentery. But it rarely develops in the chest wall. The cause of the tumor is unknown. However, trauma to the tumor site has been identified in 25% of known cases. The primary treatment is surgical resection. Local recurrence after surgical excision is common. Our study highlights the case of a 12-year-old male patient diagnosed with a desmoid tumor on the chest wall 2 years ago, at the age of 10 years, after mild trauma. The tumor was successfully managed with surgery without radiotherapy treatment and no recurrence was observed in the last 2 years.

BACKGROUND: There have been varying reports on the potential occurrence and severity of changes to menstruation including the median cycle length, days of bleeding, bleeding heaviness, and menstrual pain, following receipt of COVID-19 vaccinations. We aimed to assess potential postvaccination menstrual changes in women residing in the Middle East. METHODS: We implemented a cross-sectional online survey-based study. Data about the participants' demographic characteristics, menstruation experience, and vaccination status were collected and analyzed among six Arab countries. RESULTS: Among 4942 menstruating females included in this study, females who had received one or more doses of COVID-19 vaccination reported a higher frequency of back pain, nausea, tiredness, pelvic pain with periods, unprescribed analgesics use, and passage of loose stools. They also reported higher scores describing average and worst menstrual pain. Fully vaccinated females reported heavier flow and more days of bleeding. CONCLUSION: Our findings indicate that COVID-19 vaccine may have an effect on menstruation in terms of menstrual pain and bleeding heaviness. The evidence needs to be further investigated in longitudinal studies.

Peritoneal encapsulation (PE) is a rare congenital malformation in which the small intestine is partially or totally encased in a supplementary peritoneal sac. PE is usually asymptomatic; therefore, it is one of the rarest etiologies of bowel obstruction. Our patient presented at the age of 55 with no prior surgical history and a 3-day history of abdominal pain associated with nausea, vomiting, belching, and constipation. An obstruction secondary to an internal hernia-visualized on a CT scan-was suspected as the initial etiology. On exploratory laparotomy, the small bowel was covered by a thick adherent sac. These findings are consistent with PE, a condition that deserves recognition among clinicians worldwide. Intraoperatively, the sac was excised, and the small bowel was pulled up to the peritoneal cavity starting from the ileocecal valve to the duodenojejunal junction. In the postoperative period, the patient was managed with intravenous fluids, analgesics, and antibiotics. Wound infection was the only postoperative complication. Otherwise, all symptoms subsided, and the patient improved and was discharged home on the 8th postoperative day.
