RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: The present study aimed to investigate the incremental prognostic value of the right ventricular fractal dimension (FD), a novel marker of myocardial trabecular complexity by cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) in patients with arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM). METHODS: Consecutive patients with ACM undergoing CMR were followed up for major cardiac events, including sudden cardiac death, aborted cardiac arrest, and appropriate implantable cardioverter defibrillator intervention. Prognosis prediction was compared by Cox regression analysis. We established a multivariable model supplemented with RV FD and evaluated its discrimination by Harrell's C-statistic. We compared the category-free, continuous net reclassification improvement (cNRI) and integrated discrimination index (IDI) before and after the addition of FD. RESULTS: A total of 105 patients were prospectively included from three centers and followed up for a median of 60 (48, 66) months; experienced 36 major cardiac events were recorded. Trabecular FD displayed a strong unadjusted association with major cardiac events (p < 0.05). In the multivariable Cox regression analysis, RV maximal apical FD maintained an independent association with major cardiac events (hazard ratio, 1.31 (1.11-1.55), p < 0.002). The Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness of fit test displayed good fit (X2 = 0.68, p = 0.99). Diagnostic performance was significantly improved after the addition of RV maximal apical FD to the multivariable baseline model, and the continuous net reclassification improvement increased 21% (p = 0.001), and the integrated discrimination index improved 16% (p = 0.045). CONCLUSIONS: In patients with ACM, CMR-assessed myocardial trabecular complexity was independently correlated with adverse cardiovascular events and provided incremental prognostic value. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT: The application of FD values for assessing RV myocardial trabeculae may become an accessible and promising parameter in monitoring and early diagnosis of risk factors for adverse cardiovascular events in patients with ACM. KEY POINTS: • Ventricular trabecular morphology, a novel quantitative marker by CMR, has been explored for the first time to determine the severity of ACM. • Patients with higher maximal apical fractal dimension of RV displayed significantly higher cumulative incidence of major cardiac events. • RV maximal apical FD was independently associated with major cardiac events and provided incremental prognostic value in patients with ACM.

RESUMEN

The insect cuticle plays a key role in maintaining the insect's physiological function and behavior. Herein, the yellow-y protein is required to produce black melanin, and is expressed in a pattern that correlates with the distribution of this pigment. However, yellow-y can also have other functions, for instance, in insect behavior, but not much is known. In this study, we have studied the yellow-y gene in one important model and pest species, namely the German cockroach (Blattella germanica), which is to our knowledge the first time reported. In essence, we identified the yellow-y gene (BgY-y) and characterized its function by using RNA interference (RNAi). Silencing of BgY-y gene led to different developmental abnormalities (body weight and wings) in both genders. Specifically, there was an abundant decrease in melanin, turning the body color in pale yellow and the cuticle softer and more transparent. Interestingly, we also observed that the knockdown of BgY-y impaired the male cockroaches to display a weaker response to female-emitted contact sex pheromones, and also that the oviposition ability was weakened in the RNAi females. This study comprehensively analyzed the biological functions of the yellow-y gene in German cockroaches from the perspectives of development, body color, courtship behavior and oviposition, and as a consequence, this may opens new avenues to explore it as a novel pest control gene.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: To analyse the association among the simultaneous effects of dietary intake, daily life behavioural factors, and frailty outcomes in older Chinese women, we predicted the probability of maintaining physical robustness under a combination of different variables. METHODS: The Fried frailty criterion was used to determine the three groups of "frailty", "pre-frailty", and "robust", and a national epidemiological survey was performed. The three-classification decision tree model was fitted, and the comprehensive performance of the model was evaluated to predict the probability of occurrence of different outcomes. RESULTS: Among the 1,044 participants, 15.9% were frailty and 50.29% were pre-frailty; the overall prevalence first increased and then decreased with age, reaching a peak at 70-74 years of age. Through univariate analysis, filtering, and embedded screening, eight significant variables were identified: staple food, spices, exercise (frequency, intensity, and time), work frequency, self-feeling, and family emotions. In the three-classification decision tree, the values of each evaluation index of Model 3 were relatively average; the accuracy, recall, specificity, precision, and F1 score range were between 75% and 84%, and the AUC was also greater than 0.800, indicating excellent performance and the best interpretability of the results. Model 3 takes exercise time as the root node and contains 6 variables and 10 types, suggesting the impact of the comprehensive effect of these variables on robust and non-robust populations (the predicted probability range is 6.67-93.33%). CONCLUSION: The combined effect of these factors (no exercise or less than 0.5 h of exercise per day, occasional exercise, exercise at low intensity, feeling more tired at work, and eating too many staple foods (> 450 g per day) are more detrimental to maintaining robustness.

RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: The aim of this study was to evaluate the progression of atrophy as determined by spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) in patients with molecularly confirmed ABCA4-associated Stargardt disease type 1 (STGD1) over a 24-month period in a multicenter prospective cohort study. METHODS: SD-OCT images from 428 eyes of 236 patients were analyzed. Change of mean thickness (MT) and intact area were estimated after semiautomated segmentation for the following individual layers in the central subfield (CS), inner ring (IR), and outer ring (OR) of the ETDRS grid: retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), outer segments (OSs), inner segments (IS), outer nuclear layer (ONL) inner retina (IR), and total retina. RESULTS: Statistically significant decreases of all outer retinal layers (RPE, OS, IS, and ONL) could be observed over a 24-month period both in decline of mean retinal thickness and intact area (p < 0.0001, respectively), whereas the IR showed an increase of retinal thickness in the CS and IR and remained unchanged in the OR. CONCLUSIONS: Significant loss could be detected in outer retinal layers by SD-OCT over a 24-month period in patients with STGD1. Loss of thickness and/or intact area of such layers may serve as potential endpoints for clinical trials that aim to slow down the disease progression of STGD1.

RESUMEN

Genes involved in melanin production directly impact insect pigmentation and can affect diverse physiology and behaviours. The role these genes have on sex behaviour, however, is unclear. In the present study, the crucial melanin pigment gene black was functionally characterised in an urban pest, the German cockroach, Blattella germanica. RNAi knockdown of B. germanica black (Bgblack) had no effect on survival, but did result in black pigmentation of the thoraxes, abdomens, heads, wings, legs, antennae, and cerci due to cuticular accumulation of melanin. Sex-specific variation in the pigmentation pattern was apparent, with females exhibiting darker coloration on the abdomen and thorax than males. Bgblack knockdown also resulted in wing deformation and negatively impacted the contact sex pheromone-based courtship behaviour of males. This study provides evidence for black function in multiple aspects of B. germanica biology and opens new avenues of exploration for novel pest control strategies.

RESUMEN

Cracks in tunnel lining structures constitute a common and serious problem that jeopardizes the safety of traffic and the durability of the tunnel. The similarity between lining seams and cracks in terms of strength and morphological characteristics renders the detection of cracks in tunnel lining structures challenging. To address this issue, a new deep learning-based method for crack detection in tunnel lining structures is proposed. First, an improved attention mechanism is introduced for the morphological features of lining seams, which not only aggregates global spatial information but also features along two dimensions, height and width, to mine more long-distance feature information. Furthermore, a mixed strip convolution module leveraging four different directions of strip convolution is proposed. This module captures remote contextual information from various angles to avoid interference from background pixels. To evaluate the proposed approach, the two modules are integrated into a U-shaped network, and experiments are conducted on Tunnel200, a tunnel lining crack dataset, as well as the publicly available crack datasets Crack500 and DeepCrack. The results show that the approach outperforms existing methods and achieves superior performance on these datasets.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is an inherited cardiomyopathy characterized by progressive fibrofatty infiltration of atrial and ventricular myocardium resulting in adverse cardiac events. Atrial function has been increasingly recognized as prognostically important for cardiovascular disease. As the right atrial (RA) strain is a sensitive parameter to describe RA function, we aimed to analyze the prognostic value of the RA strain in ARVC. METHODS: RA strain parameters were derived from cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) images of 105 participants with definite ARVC. The endpoint was defined as a combination of sudden cardiac death, survival cardiac arrest, and appropriate implantable cardioverter-defibrillator intervention. Cox regression and Kaplan-Meier survival analyses were performed to evaluate the association between RA strain parameters and endpoint. Concordance index (C index), net reclassification index (NRI), and integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) were calculated to assess the incremental value of RA strain in predicting the endpoint. RESULTS: After a median follow-up of 5 years, 36 (34.3%) reaching the endpoint displayed significantly reduced RA strain parameters. At Kaplan-Meier analysis, impaired RA reservoir (RARS) and booster strains (RABS) were associated with an increased risk of the endpoint. After adjusting for conventional risk factors, RARS (hazard ratio [HR], 0.956; p = 0.005) and RABS (HR, 0.906; p = 0.002) resulted as independent predictors for endpoint at Cox regression analyses. In addition, RARS and RABS improved prognostic value to clinical risk factors and CMR morphological and functional predictors (all p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: RARS and RABS were independent predictors for adverse cardiac events, which could provide incremental prognostic value for conventional predictors in ARVC. CRITICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT: We evaluated the prognostic value of right atrial strain in ARVC patients and suggested cardiologists consider RA strain as a predictive parameter when evaluating the long-term outcome of ARVC patients in order to formulate better clinical therapy. KEY POINTS: • Patients with ARVC had significantly reduced RA strain and strain rates compared with healthy participants. • Participants with lower RA reservoir and booster stains were associated with a significantly higher risk of adverse cardiac events. • RA booster and reservoir strain provide incremental value to conventional parameters.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: The temporal evolution of ventricular trabecular complexity and its correlation with major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) remain indeterminate in patients presenting with acute ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). METHODS: This retrospective analysis enrolled patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) for acute STEMI, possessing cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) data in the acute (within 7 days), subacute (1 month after pPCI), and chronic phases (6 months after pPCI) from January 2015 to January 2020 at the three participating sites. Fractal dimensions (FD) were measured for the global, infarct, and remote regions of left ventricular trabeculae during each phase. The potential association of FD with MACE was analyzed using multivariate Cox regression. RESULTS: Among the 200 analyzed patients (182 men; median age, 61 years; age range, 50-66 years), 37 (18.5%) encountered MACE during a median follow-up of 31.2 months. FD exhibited a gradual decrement (global FD at acute, subacute, and chronic phases: 1.253 ± 0.049, 1.239 ± 0.046, 1.230 ± 0.045, p < 0.0001), with a more pronounced decrease observed in patients subsequently experiencing MACE (p < 0.001). The global FD at the subacute phase correlated with MACE (hazard ratio 0.89 (0.82, 0.97), p = 0.01), and a global FD value below 1.26 was associated with a heightened risk. CONCLUSION: In patients post-STEMI, the global FD, serving as an indicator of left ventricular trabeculae complexity, independently demonstrated an association with subsequent major adverse cardiovascular events, beyond factors encompassing left ventricular ejection fraction, indexed left ventricular end-diastolic volume, infarct size, heart rate, NYHA class, and post-pPCI TIMI flow. CRITICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT: In patients who have had an ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction, global fractal dimension, as a measure of left ventricular trabeculae complexity, provided independent association with subsequent major adverse cardiovascular event. KEY POINTS: • Global and regional FD decreased after STEMI, and more so in patients with subsequent MACE. • Lower global FD at the subacute phase and Δglobal FD from acute to subacute phase were associated with subsequent MACE besides clinical and CMR factors. • Global FD at the subacute phase independently correlated with MACE and global FD value below 1.26 was associated with higher risk.

RESUMEN

Vacuolar-type (H+)-ATPase (vATPase) is a conserved multi-subunit eukaryotic enzyme composed of 14 subunits that form a functional complex consisting of an ATP-hydrolytic domain (V1) and a proton-translocation domain (V0). ATP hydrolysis and subsequent H+ translocation rely heavily on a fully assembled V1/V0 complex. Since vATPase is crucial for insect survival, it is a viable molecular target for pest control. However, detailed functional analyses of the 14 subunits and their suitability for pest control have not been fully explored in a single insect species. In this study, we identified 22 vATPase subunit transcripts that correspond to 13 subunits (A1, A2, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, a1, a2, c and d) in the white-backed planthopper (WBPH), Sogatella furcifera, a major hemipteran pest of rice. RNAi screens using microinjection and spray-based methods revealed that the SfVHA-F, SfVHA-a2 and SfVHA-c2 subunits are critical. Furthermore, star polymer (SPc) nanoparticles were utilized to conduct spray-induced and nanoparticle-delivered gene silencing (SI-NDGS) to evaluate the pest control efficacy of RNAi targeting the SfVHA-F, SfVHA-a2 and SfVHA-c2 transcripts. Target mRNA levels and vATPase enzymatic activity were both reduced. Honeydew excreta was likewise reduced in WBPH treated with dsRNAs targeting SfVHA-F, SfVHA-a2 and SfVHA-c2. To assess the environmental safety of the nanoparticle-wrapped dsRNAs, Cyrtorhinus lividipennis Reuter, a major natural enemy of planthoppers, was also sprayed with dsRNAs targeting SfVHA-F, SfVHA-a2 and SfVHA-c2. Post-spray effects of dsSfVHA-a2 and dsSfVHA-c2 on C. lividipennis were innocuous. This study identifies SfVHA-a2 and SfVHA-c2 as promising targets for biorational control of WBPH and lays the foundation for developing environment-friendly RNAi biopesticides.

RESUMEN

RNA interference (RNAi) is a widespread post-transcriptional silencing mechanism that targets homologous mRNA sequences for specific degradation. An RNAi-based pest management strategy is target-specific and considered a sustainable biopesticide. However, the specific genes targeted and the efficiency of the delivery methods can vary widely across species. In this study, a spray-induced and nanocarrier-delivered gene silencing (SI-NDGS) system that incorporated gene-specific dsRNAs targeting conserved genes was used to evaluate phenotypic effects in white-backed planthopper (WBPH). At 2 days postspraying, transcript levels for all target genes were significantly reduced and knockdown of two gene orthologs, hsc70-3 and PP-α, resulted in an elevated mortality (>60%) and impaired ecdysis. These results highlight the utility of the SI-NDGS system for identifying genes involved in WBPH growth and development that could be potentially exploitable as high mortality target genes to develop an alternative method for WBPH control.

RESUMEN

【Objective】 To investigate the predictive value of high preoperative neutrophile-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) for the prognosis of nonurothelial carcinoma of the bladder (NUBC) after radical cystectomy (RC). 【Methods】 Clinical and follow-up data of NUBC patients undergoing RC during Jan.2005 and Dec.2020 were collected. The optimal cut-off value of NLR was determined with the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. The survival curve was drawn with Kaplan-Meier method to compare the differences in cancer specific survival (CSS) and overall survival (OS) between the high-NLR and low-NLR groups. The independent risk factors of CSS and OS were screened with Cox proportional hazard regression model. 【Results】 Of the 62 eligible cases,34 (54.8%) were diagnosed with adenocarcinoma,17 (27.4%) with squamous cell carcinoma, 6 (9.7%) with small cell carcinoma and 5 (8.1%) with sarcoma. Kaplan-Meier analysis results showed high NLR was associated with poor CSS (P=0.001) and OS (P<0.001). Cox regression results indicated that high NLR (HR=2.42, 95%CI: 1.12-5.23, P=0.025) and advanced pathologic tumor stage (HR=3.21, 95%CI:1.53-6.74,P=0.002) were independent risk factors of unfavorable CSS. Similarly, high NLR (HR=2.75, 95%CI: 1.35-5.56, P=0.005) and advanced pathologic tumor stage (HR=2.81, 95%CI:1.43-5.57, P=0.003) were independent risk factors of unfavorable OS. 【Conclusion】 As an independent risk factor of unfavorable CSS and OS in NUBC patients undergoing RC, high preoperative NLR is of great value in the prediction of long-term prognosis and may help to optimize individualized treatment.

RESUMEN

The global incidence of breast cancer has increased year by year. Breast cancer has the highest mortality rate in female patients with malignant tumors. Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) has made great contribution to health of human being, improving the overall curative effect, reducing the patients' pain, improving the quality of life and alleviating adverse reactions in patients. TCM and its active compounds can inhibit the proliferation of breast cancer cells by inducing cell cycle arrest, invasion, metastasis and reversing multidrug resistance. The effect of the compounds in TCM is obvious on inducing the arrest of the breast cancer cells cycle. It′s a novel method to fight against breast cancer by influencing the progress of the breast cancer cell cycle and inducing the cell cycle arrest in breast cancer cells. Lots of studies have shown that the G2/M phase checkpoint which transition from gap-phase (G2 phase) to mitotic phase (M phase) in the cell cycle is the key point for cell survival or death. Many antitumor drugs can inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells through the cell cycle arrest. We summarized the domestic and foreign literatures in recent years, and comprehensively explained the research progress on the related regulatory molecules in G2/M arrest. In addition, we summarized and sorted out the researches on the methods and ways of alkaloids, polysaccharides, terpenes, flavonoids, saponins and other active compounds of TCM in inducing the G2/M arrest of human breast cancer cells. By summarizing the active compounds of various Chinese medicines in inducing G2/M arrest of breast cancer cells, and reviewing the research progress on mechanism of active TCM compounds for inhibiting the proliferation of breast cancer cells, we will, in this paper, investigate the mechanism of active TCM compounds for inhibiting the proliferation of breast cancer cells through inducing G2/M arrest of human breast cancer cells, so as to provide a scientific basis for in-depth research on the anti-breast cancer mechanism of the active compounds in TCM.

RESUMEN

In order to solve the current problems in medical equipment maintenance, this study proposed an intelligent fault diagnosis method for medical equipment based on long short term memory network(LSTM). Firstly, in the case of no circuit drawings and unknown circuit board signal direction, the symptom phenomenon and port electrical signal of 7 different fault categories were collected, and the feature coding, normalization, fusion and screening were preprocessed. Then, the intelligent fault diagnosis model was built based on LSTM, and the fused and screened multi-modal features were used to carry out the fault diagnosis classification and identification experiment. The results were compared with those using port electrical signal, symptom phenomenon and the fusion of the two types. In addition, the fault diagnosis algorithm was compared with BP neural network (BPNN), recurrent neural network (RNN) and convolution neural network (CNN). The results show that based on the fused and screened multi-modal features, the average classification accuracy of LSTM algorithm model reaches 0.970 9, which is higher than that of using port electrical signal alone, symptom phenomenon alone or the fusion of the two types. It also has higher accuracy than BPNN, RNN and CNN, which provides a relatively feasible new idea for intelligent fault diagnosis of similar equipment.

RESUMEN

Objective:To investigate the clinicopathological features and prognosis of pleomorphic giant cell adenocarcinoma (PGCA) of the prostate, and to strengthen the understanding of this rare variant. Methods:From January 2009 to December 2019, 383 pathological samples of prostate adenocarcinoma with Gleason scores of 8-10 were selected from the First Affiliated Hospital, Army Medical University. PGCA was screened by reviewing the histomorphology of hematoxylin and eosin stained sections. Then the expression of prostate specific markers and mismatch repair (MMR) proteins of PGCA were detected by immunohistochemistry (IHC), and microsatellite instability (MSI) status was detected through polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-capillary electrophoresis. Meanwhile, the clinicopathological characteristics, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of PGCA were summarized and analyzed along with those reported in the literature. Results:Three patients with PGCA of the prostate were 68, 63 and 71 years old respectively, and case 1 had a history of transurethral resection of the prostate and oral bicalutamide 3 months before surgery. All 3 patients underwent radical prostatectomy and received endocrine therapy, radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy, and died at 18, 23, and 10 months after surgery, respectively. Histologically, both the usual prostate adenocarcinoma with Gleason score of 9-10 and the pleomorphic giant cell component with anaplastic characteristics were observed in 3 tumors, and the latter accounted for 90%, 10%, and 20%, respectively. Immunohistochemical staining showed that both components expressed epithelial markers (CK, CK8/18) and prostate-specific markers (NKX3.1, PSA, P504S) to varying degrees, and the expression of MMR proteins (MSH2, MSH6, MLH1 and PMS2) were not defective. MSI was not detected in the usual prostate adenocarcinoma and pleomorphic giant cell components obtained by microdissection in 3 cases. Combined with 10 cases reported in the literature, there were totally 13 cases of PGCA for reviewing. The patients were 45-81 years old, the average age was 66 years old, and the median age was 66 years old. During the follow-up period of 3-36 months, 7 cases relapsed/metastasized, 6 cases died within 23 months after diagnosis, and 4 of which died within 1 year. Conclusions:PGCA is a newly recognized rare variant of prostate adenocarcinoma. At present, all cases are accompanied with high-grade usual prostate adenocarcinoma with Gleason score of 9-10, but it is different from the latter in pathological morphology and clinical manifestations, by presenting high invasiveness and poor prognosis. PGCA is not sensitive to conventional endocrine therapy, radiotherapy or chemotherapy. Accurate diagnosis of PGCA is helpful to judge the prognosis of patients and guide the treatment.

Objective @#To analyze the difference of urinary iodine level in Hashimoto thyroiditis ( HT) patients, and to explore the possible relationship between urinary iodine level and HT under different iodine nutritional sta- tus,so as to provide some references for reasonable iodine intake in HT patients.@*Methods @#A total of 101 hospi- talized HT patients were selected as HT group and divided into 3 groups according to thyroid function : HT group with hyperthyroidism (41 cases) .There were 25 cases in HT group with normal thyroid function. There were 35 cases in HT combined with hypothyroidism group. In addition,30 healthy subjects were selected as control group. Serum levels of thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH) ,triiodothyronine(T3 ) ,thyroxine (T4 ) ,thyroid peroxidase an- tibody (TPOAb) and thyroglobulin antibody (ATG) were detected by chemiluminescence assay. The size and mor- phological structure of thyroid organs were examined by ultrasonography.Urinary iodine was determined by catalytic spectrophotometry with arsenic and cerium. The nutritional status of iodine was classified into iodine deficiency ( < 100 μg/ L) ,iodine adequacy( 100 -199 μg/ L) ,iodine adequacy (200 -299 μg/ L) and iodine excess ( ≥ 300 μg/ L) .Non-parametric test was used to compare urinary iodine level between HT group and control group,one- way ANOVA and t test were used to compare urinary iodine level between HT group and control group ,and Spearman correlation analysis was used to compare the correlation between urinary iodine level and T3 ,T4 ,TSH, ATG and TPOAb under different iodine nutrition status. @*Results @#Compared with control group,ATG and TPOAb levels in HT group increased (P<0. 001) ,and urinary iodine levels increased (P<0. 05) ,with statistical signifi- cance.Compared with the control group in different thyroid function states, only the HT group with hypothyroidism increased the urinary iodine level (P<0. 01) ,and the difference was statistically significant.Spearman correlation analysis showed that urine iodine level was positively correlated with ATG and TPOAb levels in iodine excess condi- tion (P<0. 05) ,and urine iodine level was positively correlated with TSH level in iodine sufficient condition and iodine excess condition in HT patients (P<0. 05) .@*Conclusion @#The urinary iodine level of HT patients was high- er than that of normal people. When the urinary iodine level of residents is ≥ 300 μg/ L,iodine intake is prone to HT.When the urinary iodine level of HT patients is ≥ 200 μg/ L,iodine consumption is prone to hypothyroidism, and iodine intake should be limited.

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the protective effect of excretory-secretory protein (AES) from adult Trichinella spiralis on ovalbumin (OVA)-induced allergic rhinitis in mice. Methods Eighteen female BALB/c mice were randomly divided into three groups, including the blank control group (Group A), OVA-induced rhinitis group (Group B) and AES treatment group (Group C). Mice in Group A were given PBS. Mice in Group B were intraperitoneally injected with antigen adjuvant suspension for systemic sensitization, once every other day for seven times; then, local excitation was intranasally induced with 5% OVA solution once a day for seven times to establish a mouse model of allergic rhinitis. In addition to induction of allergic rhinitis, mice in Group C were given 25 μg AES at baseline sensitization and local excitation. Following the final challenge, mice were observed for 30 min in each group, and the behavioral score was evaluated. The serum levels of IFN-γ, IL-4, IL-5, IL-10 and TGF-β were determined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in mice, and the pathological changes of mouse nasal mucosa were observed under a microscope. Results There was a significant difference in the mouse behavioral scores among the three groups (F = 110.12, P < 0.01). The mouse behavioral score was significantly higher in Group B than in Group A (7.17 ± 0.75 vs. 1.33 ± 0.52, P < 0.01), and more remarkable pathological damages of mouse nasal mucosa were seen in Group B than in Group A, while the mouse behavioral score was significantly decreased in Group C than in Group B (P < 0.01), and the pathological damages of mouse nasal mucosa remarkably alleviated in Group C relative to Group B. There was a significant difference in serum IFN-γ level among the three groups (F = 7.50, P < 0.01) and the serum IFN-γ level in Group B was significantly lower than in group A and C (both P < 0.05). There were significant differences in serum IL-4 (F = 470.81, P < 0.01) and IL-5 levels (F =68.20, P < 0.01) among the three groups, and significantly greater serum IL-4 and IL-5 levels were detected in Group B than in Group A (P < 0.01), while significantly lower serum IL-4 and IL-5 levels were detected in Group C than in Group B (P < 0.01). There were significant differences in serum IL-10 (F = 174.91, P < 0.01) and TGF-β levels (F = 9.39, P < 0.01) among the three groups, and significantly greater serum IL-10 and TGF-β levels were seen in Group C than in Group B (both P < 0.05). Conclusion T. spiralis AES has a remarkable protective activity against OVA-induced allergic rhinitis in mice.

RESUMEN

Objective To explore the value of intra-voxel incoherent motion diffusion weighted imaging(IVIM-DWI)in brain perfusion of early hypertensive patients. Methods Totally 36 hypertensive patients and 14 volunteers were recruited and scanned using routine MRI sequences including axial T2WI, T1WI, T2FLAIR, TOF-MRA and IVIM-DWI sequence. Perfusion-related diffusion coefficient (D*) values and perfusion fraction (f) values in various regions were measured separately. The independent sample t test was used to analyze the data. Results Compared with the volunteers, both D*values and f values in lenticular nucleus, thalamus, superior frontal gyrus, occipital lobe, genu of corpus callosum(CC)and posterior horns of periventricular WM, were found to be lower (P<0.05) in hypertensive patients. For other regions, there were no significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion IVIM-DWI has the ability to detect subtle brain perfusion abnormalities at early stages of hypertension. It has an important value to the prevention and treatment of hypertensive encephalopathy.
