RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Emerging evidence of immunological dysfunction have been described in endometriosis. Dendritic cells (DCs), one of the main antigen-presenting cells, are specialized in the initiation and modulation of the adaptive immune response. Emerging studies demonstrated both endometrial and circulating differences in DCs populations in women with endometriosis. However, the role and mechanism of peritoneal DCs in endometriosis is still unclear. The present study was undertaken to explore the features of peritoneal DCs in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. This study is beneficial to further clarify the cause of endometriosis and provide a new insight into the medical treatment for endometriosis. METHODS: The study included 12 women with endometriosis and 11 women without endometriosis. The C57BL6 mouse model of endometriosis was established by intraperitoneal injection of endometrial segments. The peritoneal DCs of endometriosis patients and mouse models were analyzed by fluorescence associated cell sorting (FACS) examination. RESULTS: Increased cell density of peritoneal DCs were observed in endometriosis patients. Moreover, the proportion of mature DCs (mDCs, CD80highCD1alow cells) in the peritoneal DCs was lower whereas the proportion of immature DCs (iDCs, CD80lowCD1ahigh cells) was increased in endometriosis patients. Similarly, the cell density of peritoneal DCs in murine models increased immediately after the injection of endometrial tissues and reached the highest level at 14 days. In addition, the proportion of mDCs (CD11chighCD80high cells) in the peritoneal DCs decreased immediately after the injection of endometrial tissues and then increased with the time until 42 days, but still lower than the control group. In contrast, the proportion of iDCs (CD11chighCD80low cells) in the peritoneal DCs showed the opposite dynamic changes. However, after treated with LPS, the mDCs proportion was significantly increased, leading to lower volume and weight of the endometriosis lesions. CONCLUSIONS: Increased level of peritoneal DCs facilitated the pathogenesis of endometriosis lesions, especially in the early stage of the disease. Furthermore, peritoneal DCs maturation played an important role in the development of endometriosis.

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE)for the treatment of locally recurrent breast cancer. Methods The clinical data of 57 patients with locally recurrent breast cancer from January 2018 to December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed.Twenty-four patients(group A)received TACE using adriamycin 12 mg/m2 and paclitaxel 45 mg/m2,which was accomplished by local perfusion into the tumor target blood vessels with microcatheter catheterization, the embolization material was Embosphere microspheres, and the embolization endpoint was occlusion of the main stem of the target vessel.Other 33 patients who received systemic chemotherapy using adriamycin 40 mg/m2 and paclitaxel 135 mg/m2 in the same period were collected as group B.The 6-month disease control rate(DCR),progression-free survival(PFS)and overall survival(OS)were compared between the two groups. Results Successful TACE was accomplished in all the 24 patients of group A,with a technical success rate of 100%.In group A,the 6-month DCR was 87.50%,the median PFS was 12 months, and the median OS was 22 months. In group B,the 6-month DCR was 63.63%,the median PFS was 9 months, and the median OS was 20 months. The differences in the 6-month DCR and the median PFS between the two groups were statistically significant(P=0.04 and P=0.03 respectively),while no statistically significant difference in the median OS existed between the two groups(P=0.21).The incidence of post-embolization syndrome in group A was 75%(18/24),the clinical symptoms included chest wall pain and mild fever, which disappeared 3 days after symptomatic treatment such as pain-relief and antipyretic medication, and no TACE-related serious complications such as target vessel injury, ectopic embolization of embolization materials or chest wall necrosis occurred in all patients. All patients were followed up for a mean period of(19.47±4.96)months(range of 8-24 months)Conclusion For the treatment of locally recurrent breast cancer,TACE is superior to systemic chemotherapy in short-term efficacy.TACE carries no intervention-related serious complications. However, more studies need to be conducted before its long-term efficacy and safety can be clarified.(J Intervent Radiol,2024,33:280-284)

RESUMEN

ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) combined with immunosuppressants (IS) on immune rejection in a rat model of liver transplantation. MethodsF344 rats were divided into Normal group (without any intervention), PS group (injected with an equal volume of normal saline), MSC group (injected with MSC), IS group (injected with IS), and MSC+IS group (injected with MSC and IS), with 8 rats in each group. For all rats except those in the Normal group, the Kamada’s double-cuff method was used to establish a model of orthotopic liver transplantation, without reconstruction of the hepatic artery. HE staining and Masson staining were performed for rat liver tissue, and the degree of liver fibrosis was analyzed; immunohistochemical experiments were used to measure the infiltration of T cells and NK cells, and immunofluorescence assay was used to analyze macrophage M2 polarization. A one-way analysis of variance was used for comparison of continuous data between multiple groups, and the least significant difference t-test was used for further comparison between two groups. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to plot survival curves, and the log-rank test was used for survival analysis. ResultsCompared with the PS group, the MSC+IS group had a significantly prolonged survival time (P<0.01), and the MSC group, the IS group, and the MSC+IS group had a significant improvement in the histological structure of the liver and a significant reduction in the degree of liver fibrosis (all P<0.000 1), as well as a significant reduction in the infiltration of NK and T cells (all P<0.000 1) and a significant increase in the degree of macrophage M2 polarization (all P<0.000 1). The MSC+IS group had a significantly better effect than the MSC group and the IS group. ConclusionMSCs combined with IS can improve liver histopathology, reduce inflammatory cell infiltration, promote macrophage M2 polarization, and exert an immunosuppressive effect in rats after liver transplantation.

RESUMEN

【Objective】 To evaluate the application value of the three-point localization method in improving the quality and efficiency of four-chamber view acquisition in cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging. 【Methods】 A total of 215 patients who underwent four-chamber view in CMR imaging from January 2022 to October 2023 were retrospectively enrolled and divided into two groups. The control group (n=109) received traditional localization method while the study group (n=106) received three-point localization method. The image quality of mitral valve, tricuspid valve and cruciform structure in four-chamber view images were assessed by two radiologists using a Likert 4-piont scale. The time-consumption from scout imaging to the finish of four-chamber view imaging was recorded. Constituent data and numeral data were compared by Chi-square test and two-sample t test, respectively. Kappa test was used to analyze the inter-observer consistency. 【Results】 There were no significant inter-group differences in gender, age, disease profile, or the radiographers’ experience. The mean quality scores of the mitral valve, tricuspid valve and cruciform structure in the control group and the study group were 3.44±0.64 and 3.63±0.49 (P=0.023), 3.43±0.67 and 3.53±0.60(P=0.202), 3.71±0.49 and 3.83±0.35 (P=0.047), respectively. The image quality score was higher in the study group than in the control group, with the differences in mitral valve and cruciform structure reaching statistical significance. The time-consumption for obtaining four-chamber view for the control group and the study group was 11.67±3.49 minutes and 7.212±1.83 minutes, respectively, with statistically significant differences (P<0.001). 【Conclusion】 Compared with the traditional localization method, the three-point localization method provides better image quality in four-chamber view imaging with shortened imaging time.

RESUMEN

Transbronchil biopsy has the characteristic of less trauma and quick recovery compared to percutaneous aspiration biopsy. In order to automate this procedure, it requires the development of a robotic surgical system that combines electromagnetic navigation and flexible endoscope. The robotic surgical system introduced herein consists of flexible endoscope, remote-control handle, electromagnetic navigation and dexterous manipulators. The robotic system supports lung bronchial model segmentation and reconstruction, automatic bronchial path planning, real-time navigation and visual biopsy. In the control of the endoscopic catheter, an elasticity compensation algorithm was proposed to improve the location accuracy of the catheter and operational efficiency. Clinical trials proved that the robotic system had high positioning accuracy, was intuitive to operate, and could improve the biopsy efficiency, shorten the learning time, reduce the burden of surgical operations, and lower radiation exposure and infection rate.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND@#Reports on the prevalence of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) among Chinese patients with psoriasis are very limited. This study, conducted by rheumatologists, estimated the prevalence of PsA in a large number of Chinese patients with psoriasis.@*METHODS@#Consecutive patients with a confirmed diagnosis of psoriasis attending nine dermatology clinics in five hospitals were recruited. All psoriasis patients were asked to complete a questionnaire comprising 16 questions to identify possible cases of PsA. All patients with one or more positive answers to the questionnaire were evaluated by two experienced rheumatologists.@*RESULTS@#A total of 2434 psoriasis patients, including 1561 males and 873 females, were enrolled. Both the questionnaire and rheumatologists' examinations were completed in the dermatology clinics. The results identified 252 patients with PsA, comprising 168 males and 84 females. The overall prevalence of PsA among psoriasis patients was 10.4% (95% confidence interval [95% CI], 9.1%-11.7%). By sex, the prevalence was 10.8% (95% CI, 9.2%-12.5%) for males and 9.6% (95% CI, 7.7%-11.9%) for females and there was no significant sex difference in the prevalence of PsA (P = 0.38). Of the 252 PsA patients, 125 (49.6%, 95% CI, 41.3%-59.1%) were newly diagnosed by rheumatologists. Consequently, the prevalence of undiagnosed PsA among psoriasis patients was 5.2% (95% CI, 4.4%-6.2%).@*CONCLUSION@#The prevalence of PsA in the Chinese population with psoriasis is about 10.4%, which is almost double that of previous reports in the Chinese population, but lower than that in Caucasians.

RESUMEN

ERα-36 is a novel subtype of estrogen receptor α which promotes tumor cell proliferation, invasion and drug resistance, and it serves as a therapeutic target. However, only small-molecule compounds targeting ERα-36 are under development as anticancer drugs at present. Gene therapy approach targeting ERα-36 can be explored using recombinant adenovirus armed with decoy receptor. The recombinant shuttle plasmid pDC316-Ig κ-ERα-36-Fc-GFP was constructed via genetic engineering to express an Ig κ-signaling peptide-leading secretory recombinant fusion protein ERα-36-Fc. The recombinant adenovirus Ad-ERα-36-Fc-GFP was subsequently packaged, characterized and amplified using AdMaxTM adenovirus packaging system. The expression of fusion protein and functional outcome of Ad-ERα-36-Fc-GFP transduction were further analyzed with triple-negative breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cells. Results showed that the recombinant adenovirus Ad-ERα-36-Fc-GFP was successfully generated. The virus effectively infected MDA-MB-231 cells which resulted in expression and secretion of the recombinant fusion protein ERα-36-Fc, leading to significant inhibition of EGFR/ERK signaling pathway. Preparation of the recombinant adenovirus Ad-ERα-36-Fc-GFP provides a basis for further investigation on cancer gene therapy targeting ERα-36.

RESUMEN

Objective@#To investigate the differences of gemstone spectral curve and CT value of gastric cancer with different pathological types and differentiation degrees.@*Methods@#91 cases of preoperative gemstone CT images with gastric cancer were collected, including 24 cases of mucinous carcinoma, 67 cases of non-mucinous carcinoma, 16 cases of signet ring cell carcinoma, 8 cases of mucinous adenocarcinoma, 32 cases of moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma and 35 cases of poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. Gemstone CT spectral imaging was performed preoperatively, and the spectral curve of the lesion in venous phase was obtained by using GSI Viewer software, the slope of the curve was calculated, and 11 monoenergetic CT values of 40~140 keV (10 keV interval) were measured. The gemstone spectral curves and CT values of gastric cancer with different pathological types and differentiation degrees are compared.@*Results@#The curve slopes of non-mucinous carcinoma, signet ring cell carcinoma and poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma were -1.92±0.53, -1.73±0.37 and -2.14±0.54, respectively. The absolute values were higher than those of mucinous carcinoma (-1.45±0.54), mucinous adenocarcinoma (-0.90±0.34) and moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma (-1.67±0.41), and the differences were all statistically significant (P<0.05). There were significant differences in monoenergetic CT values between mucinous and non-mucinous carcinomas at 40-140 keV (all P<0.05). The former was lower than the latter in different degrees, and the lower the energy, the greater the difference was. There were significant differences in monoenergetic CT values between signet ring cell carcinoma and mucinous adenocarcinoma at 40-100 keV (all P<0.05); monoenergetic CT values between poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma and moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma at 40-90 keV showed statistically significant differences (P<0.05).@*Conclusions@#Gastric cancer with different pathological types and differentiation degrees have their characteristic spectral curves in venous phase, and the monoenergetic CT values are significantly different at low energy. The spectral curve of gemstone CT may be helpful to evaluate the pathological type and differentiation degree of gastric cancer before operation.

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics and prognostic factors for patients with primary intestinal B-cell lymphoma. Methods The clinical data of 50 patients with primary intestinal B-cell lymphoma in Fujian Medical University Union Hospital from January 2004 to December 2013 were retrospectively analyzed. An analysis was also conducted in their clinical characteristics and related prognostic factors. Results A total of 50 patients included 35 males and 15 females with the median age of 58 years old (16-79 years old). The clinical symptoms were abdominal pain or abdominal distension [70 % (35/50)]. The common origins were small intestine and ileocecus, and the most common pathological type was diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) [54 % (27/50)]. The median survival time of 43 cases was 49.4 months. The 1-year, 3-year and 5-year overall survival (OS) rates were 79.1 %, 72.1 %, 58.1 %, respectively. Univariate analysis indicated that hemoglobin levels, albumin levels, lactic dehydrogenase (LDH), the maximum diameter of mass, international prognostic index (IPI) score, Lugano stage, and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) score were the affecting factors of OS. Multivariate analysis showed that IPI score ≥ 2 was an independent risk factor for the prognosis of intestinal B-cell lymphoma ( OR= 6.766, 95 % CI 1.853-24.702, P= 0.004). The efficacy analysis showed that 5-year cumulative OS rate of R-CHOP like treatment group was better than that of CHOP like treatment group (91.7 % vs. 44.7 %, P =0.048). Conclusion IPI score can be used as an important indicator for clinical treatment and prognosis evaluation of primary intestinal B-cell lymphoma. Some patients with primary intestinal B-cell lymphoma can benefit from rituximab.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) can promote mitosis and chemotaxis of periodontal ligament fibroblasts (PDLCs), and help the generation of extracellular matrix and new blood capillaries. But it is easy to degrade, has short half-life, and metabolizes rapidly.OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the influence of bFGF/chitosan/polylactic acid scaffolds on PDLCs growth and proliferation.METHODS: Polylactic acid/chitosan composite scaffolds in different proportions (4:1, 3:2, 1:1, 2:3, 1:4) were prepared through freeze-drying method, to study their microstructure, porosity and mechanical strength and then choose the optimal ratio of chitosan/polylactic acid scaffold that was used to prepare the composite scaffolds which contained different concentrations (0, 0.1, 1, 10, 100 μg/L) of bFGF. (1) Cytotoxicity test: PDLCs were cultured with leaching liquid of polylactic acid/chitosan scaffolds which contained different concentrations (0, 0.1, 1, 10, 100 μg/L) of bFGF and DMEM culture medium respectively. The effects on cell proliferation were tested by MTT after 24, 48, 72 hours. Cell cycles were tested using flow cytometry at 5 days of culture. (2) Cytocompatibility test: PDLCs were co-cultured with the polylactic acid/chitosan scaffolds which contained different concentrations (0, 0.1, 1, 10, 100 μg/L) of bFGF. The number of PDLCs was counted at 1, 3, 5 and 7 days. The growing status of PDLCs on the scaffolds was observed by scanning electron microscope at 3 days of culture.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) The best mass ratio of polylactic acid and chitosan was 2:3 by test of porosity and mechanical strength. (2) The absorbance value of each group was increased over time. The absorbance values of 0.1, 1, 10, 100 μg/L bFGF groups were higher than that of the control group (0 μg/L bGFG), and the A value of 10 μg/L group was highest in all groups at 48 and 72 hours after co-culture (P < 0.05). (3) Cell percentages at G0/G1 phase of 0.1, 1, 10,100 μg/L bFGF groups were higher than that of the control group, and the percentage of 10 μg/L group was lowest in all groups (P < 0.05). Cell percentage at S phase and G2/M+S of 0.1, 1, 10, 100 μg/L bFGF groups were higher than that of the control group, and the percentage of 10 μg/L group was highest in all groups (P < 0.05). (4) The number of cells in each group was increased with time. The cell number in the 10 μg/L was most in all groups at 3 and 5 days of co-culture (P < 0.05). Observation of scanning electron microscopy showed that PDLCs adhered and grew well on the 10 μg/L bFGF/polylactic acid/chitosan composite scaffold when co-cultured for 3 days. Overall, these findings indicate that the bFGF/polylactic acid/chitosan composite scaffold contributes to PDLCs proliferation.

RESUMEN

Objective To evaluate the role of serum immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4) in differentiating autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) from pancreatic cancer(PC).Methods The database, including Medline,EMBASE,Science Direct,Springer link,CBM,Wanfang,VIP and Cnki were searched by computer and the publication date was before April 1,2015.The studies on evaluating the accuracy of IgG4 in differentiating AIP from PC were screened and selected according to strict determined inclusion and exclusion criteria.Quality assessment was made by QUADAS scale. The publication bias were assessed by Stata12.0 software. The heterogeneity of included articles, calculate the pooled sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood, negative likelihood were anylyzed by Meta-Disc1.4 software, respectively, and draw the summary ROC (SROC) curve. Results A total of 13 English articles were included and 1403 patients were involved. The pooled sensitivity was 74% (95% CI 70% ~ 78%),the pooled specificity was 93% (95% CI 91% ~ 95%),the positive likelihood ratio was 10.74 (95% CI 7.16 ~ 16.11),the negative likelihood ratio was 0.25 (95% CI 0.17 ~0.35) and the area under SROC curve was 0.9340.Conclusions IgG4 has high diagnostic efficacy but low misdiagnosis rate in differentiating AIP from PC,which can be used as one of early diagnostic markers for AIP.

RESUMEN

Sleep, learning and memory are all belonging to the brain essential functions .There is a long-standing standpoint that sleep supports memory consolidation which is convinced by many experiments .Sleep has a consolidation effect on memory and can help remolding short-term memory.Hence, researchers further discuss about the reciprocal relationships between sleep and learning and memory by establishing sleep-deprivation model .The present review focuses on the changes of neurotransmitters , immediate brain harm and gene related changes in order to discuss potential mechanisms underlying the reciprocal relationship between them .

RESUMEN

Objective@#To explore current status of sleep disturbances and its influencing factors in preschool children in Haikou city, and to provide a reference for improving chidlren sleeping quality by taking effective measures.@*Methods@#Layered random cluster sampling method was used to select 1 200 preschool children from kindergartens in Haikou city in 2018. Sleep status questionnaire was used to investigate children’s sleep disorders and analyze the influencing factors.@*Results@#The detection rate of sleep disturbances was 50.00%, the rates in each group were 50.90% for boys, 48.87% for girls(χ2=0.49, P>0.05), and 48.45% for 3 years old group, 50.33% for 4 years old group, 50.55% for 5 years old group, and 49.55% for 6 years old group(χ2=0.24, P=0.97). The total daily sleep time of children was(10.53±1.05)h, and the duration of continuous sleep at night was(8.69±0.78)h, the length of sleep during the day was(1.84±0.67)h, sleep time decreased with the increase of age(F=7.52, 3.04, 7.88, P<0.05). The univariateand multivariate Logistic regression showed that, asthma(OR=2.65), frequent cold(OR=1.67), carpet at home(OR=1.40), poor appetite(OR=1.18), changing caregivers(OR=1.25), inconsistent rearing ideas(OR=1.42), parents falling asleep late (OR=1.39) and mothers with sleep problems (OR=1.73) were the risk factors for sleep problems, children and parents sleeping separately(OR=0.75), children’s sleeping rule (OR=0.32) were the protection factors(P<0.05).@*Conclusion@#It is necessary to do a good job in the sleep management of preschool children and reduce the detection rate of sleep problems from many aspects, such as family rearing environment, health knowledge of caregivers, parents undefined sleep habits, children undefined sleeping style and so on.

RESUMEN

Objective To explore the reliability of Chinese simplified diagnostic method for acute drug‐induced liver injury (DILI) in diagnosis of acute DILI .Methods From 2008 to 2013 ,a total of 320 patients diagnosed with acute DILI were enrolled .The clinical data of them were collected .International recognized Roussel Uclaf causality assessment method (RUCAM ) was taken as control and then simplified diagnostic method for DILI in China was evaluated . Variance analysis was performed for statistical analysis .Gamma value of two diagnostic methods was calculated and the correlation was analyzed .Results Among the 320 patients with acute DILI ,according to RUCAM ,there were 39 cases (12 .19% ) with quite high probability ,193 with high probability (60 .31% ) ,74 with possibility (23 .12% ) ,11 with less possibility (3 .44% ) and three with no probability (0 .94% ) .According to simplified diagnostic method for acute DILI ,194 cases were diagnosed (60 .62% ) ,103 were suspicious (32 .19% ) and 23 were excluded (7 .19% ) .The RUCAM score of diagnosed group (7 .5 ± 1 .2) was higher than that of suspicious group (5 .3 ± 1 .3) and excluded group (2 .1 ± 1 .1) ,and the difference was statistically significant (F =239 .545 ,P< 0 .01) .The correlation analysis between these two diagnostic methods indicated that Gamma value was 0 .955 (P < 0 .01) .Conclusions The simplified diagnostic method for acute DILI in China is simple ,practical and consistent with RUCAM .It can be used as one of the clinical methods for screening acute DILI .
