RESUMEN

Liver fibrosis is a very common condition seen in millions of patients with various liver diseases, and yet no effective treatments are available owing to poorly characterized molecular pathogenesis. Here, we show that leukocyte cell-derived chemotaxin 2 (LECT2) is a functional ligand of Tie1, a poorly characterized endothelial cell (EC)-specific orphan receptor. Upon binding to Tie1, LECT2 interrupts Tie1/Tie2 heterodimerization, facilitates Tie2/Tie2 homodimerization, activates PPAR signaling, and inhibits the migration and tube formations of EC. In vivo studies showed that LECT2 overexpression inhibits portal angiogenesis, promotes sinusoid capillarization, and worsens fibrosis, whereas these changes were reversed in Lect2-KO mice. Adeno-associated viral vector serotype 9 (AAV9)-LECT2 small hairpin RNA (shRNA) treatment significantly attenuates fibrosis. Upregulation of LECT2 is associated with advanced human liver fibrosis staging. We concluded that targeting LECT2/Tie1 signaling may represent a potential therapeutic target for liver fibrosis, and serum LECT2 level may be a potential biomarker for the screening and diagnosis of liver fibrosis.

RESUMEN

Adventitious root (AR) formation plays an important role in vegetatively propagated plants. Cytokinin (CK) inhibits AR formation, but the molecular mechanisms driving this process remain unknown. In this study, we confirmed that CK content is related to AR formation and further revealed that a high auxin/CK ratio was beneficial to AR formation in apple (Malus domestica). A correlation between expression of CK-responsive TEOSINTE BRANCHED1, CYCLOIDEA, and PCF17 (MdTCP17) and AR formation in response to CK was identified, and overexpression of MdTCP17 in transgenic apple inhibited AR formation. Yeast two-hybrid, bimolecular fluorescence complementation, and co-immunoprecipitation assays revealed an interaction between MdTCP17 and WUSCHEL-RELATED HOMEOBOX11 (MdWOX11), and a significant correlation between the expression of MdWOX11 and AR ability. Overexpression of MdWOX11 promoted AR primordium formation in apple, while interference of MdWOX11 inhibited AR primordium production. Moreover, a positive correlation was found between MdWOX11 and LATERAL ORGAN BOUNDARIES DOMAIN29 (MdLBD29) expression, and yeast one-hybrid, dual luciferase reporter, and ChIP-qPCR assays verified the binding of MdWOX11 to the MdLBD29 promoter with a WOX-box element in the binding sequence. Furthermore, MdTCP17 reduced the binding of MdWOX11 and MdLBD29 promoters, and coexpression of MdTCP17 and MdWOX11 reduced MdLBD29 expression. Together, these results explain the function and molecular mechanism of MdTCP17-mediated CK inhibition of AR primordium formation, which could be used to improve apple rootstocks genetically.

RESUMEN

Pet golden hamsters were first identified being infected with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) delta variant of concern (VOC) and transmitted the virus back to humans in Hong Kong in January 2022. Here, we studied the binding of two hamster (golden hamster and Chinese hamster) angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) proteins to the spike protein receptor-binding domains (RBDs) of SARS-CoV-2 prototype and eight variants, including alpha, beta, gamma, delta, and four omicron sub-variants (BA.1, BA.2, BA.3, and BA.4/BA.5). We found that the two hamster ACE2s present slightly lower affinity for the RBDs of all nine SARS-CoV-2 viruses tested than human ACE2 (hACE2). Furthermore, the similar infectivity to host cells expressing hamster ACE2s and hACE2 was confirmed with the nine pseudotyped SARS-CoV-2 viruses. Additionally, we determined two cryo-electron microscopy (EM) complex structures of golden hamster ACE2 (ghACE2)/delta RBD and ghACE2/omicron BA.3 RBD. The residues Q34 and N82, which exist in many rodent ACE2s, are responsible for the lower binding affinity of ghACE2 compared to hACE2. These findings suggest that all SARS-CoV-2 VOCs may infect hamsters, highlighting the necessity of further surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 in these animals.IMPORTANCESARS-CoV-2 can infect many domestic animals, including hamsters. There is an urgent need to understand the binding mechanism of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variants to hamster receptors. Herein, we showed that two hamster angiotensin-converting enzyme 2s (ACE2s) (golden hamster ACE2 and Chinese hamster ACE2) can bind to the spike protein receptor-binding domains (RBDs) of SARS-CoV-2 prototype and eight variants and that pseudotyped SARS-CoV-2 viruses can infect hamster ACE2-expressing cells. The binding pattern of golden hamster ACE2 to SARS-CoV-2 RBDs is similar to that of Chinese hamster ACE2. The two hamster ACE2s present slightly lower affinity for the RBDs of all nine SARS-CoV-2 viruses tested than human ACE2. We solved the cryo-electron microscopy (EM) structures of golden hamster ACE2 in complex with delta RBD and omicron BA.3 RBD and found that residues Q34 and N82 are responsible for the lower binding affinity of ghACE2 compared to hACE2. Our work provides valuable information for understanding the cross-species transmission mechanism of SARS-CoV-2.

RESUMEN

Glycine is a nonessential amino acid that plays a vital role in various biological activities. However, the conventional synthesis of glycine requires sophisticated procedures or toxic feedstocks. Herein, we report an electrochemical pathway for glycine synthesis via the reductive coupling of oxalic acid and nitrate or nitrogen oxides over atomically dispersed Fe-N-C catalysts. A glycine selectivity of 70.7% is achieved over Fe-N-C-700 at -1.0 V versus RHE. Synergy between the FeN3C structure and pyrrolic nitrogen in Fe-N-C-700 facilitates the reduction of oxalic acid to glyoxylic acid, which is crucial for producing glyoxylic acid oxime and glycine, and the FeN3C structure could reduce the energy barrier of *HOOCCH2NH2 intermediate formation thus accelerating the glyoxylic acid oxime conversion to glycine. This new synthesis approach for value-added chemicals using simple carbon and nitrogen sources could provide sustainable routes for organonitrogen compound production.

RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: Left bundle branch pacing (LBBP) is a physiological pacing modality. However, the long procedure and fluoroscopy time of LBBP is still a problem. This study aims to compare the clinical outcomes between transthoracic echocardiography (TTE)- and X-ray-guided LBBP. METHODS: This is a single-center, prospective, randomized controlled study. Consecutive patients who underwent LBBP in our team from June 2022 to November 2022 were enrolled. Procedure and fluoroscopy time, pacing parameters, electrophysiological and echocardiographic characteristics, as well as complications were recorded at implantation and during follow-up. RESULTS: In this study, 60 patients were enrolled and divided into two groups: 30 patients were allocated to the X-ray group and the remaining 30 to the TTE group. There was no significant difference in the success rate between the two groups (86.7% vs. 76.7%, p = .317). The procedure time of TTE group was comparable to that of the X-ray group (9.0 vs. 12.0 min, p = .063). However, the fluoroscopy time in the TTE group was significantly lower than that of the X-ray group (2.5 vs. 5.0 min, p = .002). There were no statistically significant differences in pacing parameters, electrophysiological and echocardiographic characteristics, or complications between the two groups at implantation and during follow-up. CONCLUSION: TTE-guided LBBP is a feasible and safe method. Compared with X-ray, TTE showed a comparable success rate and procedure time, but it could significantly reduce the fluoroscopy time of LBBP.

RESUMEN

Nonreciprocal devices are essential and crucial in optics for source protection and signal separation. A hybrid grating system consisting of a silicon grating, a graphene layer, and a silicon waveguide layer is employed to create a high-Q quasi-BIC (bound state in the continuum). Then, the high-Q properties of the quasi-BIC are harnessed to enhance the third-order nonlinear effect of silicon, thereby improving the nonreciprocal characteristics of the device. The nonreciprocal transmittance ratio of the device can be tunable by adjusting the graphene Fermi energy level, achieving tunability ranging from 0.0865 to 30.57 dB. It also enables the best performance of the device over a wider range of frequency bands. This study provides a new, to the best of our knowledge, method for designing tunable nonreciprocal devices with a wide range of potential applications.

RESUMEN

An RNA-involved phase-separation model has been proposed for transcription control. However, the molecular links that connect RNA to the transcription machinery remain missing. Here we find that RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) constitute half of the chromatin proteome in embryonic stem cells (ESCs), some being colocalized with RNA polymerase (Pol) II at promoters and enhancers. Biochemical analyses of representative RBPs show that the paraspeckle protein PSPC1 inhibits the RNA-induced premature release of Pol II, and makes use of RNA as multivalent molecules to enhance the formation of transcription condensates and subsequent phosphorylation and release of Pol II. This synergistic interplay enhances polymerase engagement and activity via the RNA-binding and phase-separation activities of PSPC1. In ESCs, auxin-induced acute degradation of PSPC1 leads to genome-wide defects in Pol II binding and nascent transcription. We propose that promoter-associated RNAs and their binding proteins synergize the phase separation of polymerase condensates to promote active transcription.

RESUMEN

The combination of high-capacitance MXenes and wide-electrochemical-window ionic liquids (ILs) has exhibited bright prospects in supercapacitors. Several strategies, such as surficial functionalization and interlayer spacing tuning, have been used to enhance the electrochemical performance of supercapacitors. However, the lack of theoretical guidance on these strategies, including the effects of the microenvironment in the interlayer of confined ILs, hindered the further exploration of such devices. Herein, we performed molecular dynamics simulations to comprehensively investigate the effects of the interlayer space and surface terminations of MXene electrodes on capacity. The results show that the electrical double layer (EDL) structure was found to form on the interface between the MXene electrode and ILs electrolyte by analyzing the ion number density and charge density in the nanometer confined spaces. Under the same potential, the -OH terminations significantly impact the ion orientation in the EDL, particularly near the electrode surface, where cations tend to align vertically, allowing the retention of more cations at the electrode surfaces. Interestingly, such an orientation distribution was decisively from the hydrogen bonds expressed by O-H···O between the -OH termination of MXene and -OH groups of ILs. The differential capacitances of the supercapacitors were calculated by the surficial electron density, and it showed that the capacitance is a nearly one-quarter increase in the 14 Å interlayer spacing compared with that of 10 Å under an applied potential of 2 V. At the same time, the Ti3C2(OH)2 electrode had a higher differential capacitance than the Ti3C2O2 electrode, which possibly originates from the stronger hydrogen bonds to contribute to the vertical aggregation of the cations. Our results highlighted the roles of the interlayer spacing distance and surface terminations of the MXene on the performance of the type of supercapacitor.

RESUMEN

The photocatalytic transformation of carbon dioxide (CO2) into valuable chemicals is a challenging process that requires effective and selective catalysts. However, most polymer-based photocatalysts with electron donor-acceptor (D-A) structures are synthesized with a fixed D-A ratio by using expensive monomers. Herein, we report a simple strategy to prepare polyarene oxides (PAOs) with quinone structural units via oxidation treatment of polyarene (PA). The resultant PAOs show tunable D-A structures and electronic band positions depending on the degree of oxidation, which can catalyze the photoreduction of CO2 with water under visible light irradiation, generating CO as the sole carbonaceous product without H2 generation. Especially, the PAO with an oxygen content of 17.6% afforded the highest CO production rate of 161.9 µmol g-1 h-1. It is verified that the redox transformation between quinone and phenolic hydroxyl in PAOs achieves CO2 photoreduction coupled with water oxidation. This study provides a facile way to access conjugated polymers with a tunable D-A structure and demonstrates that the resultant PAOs are promising photocatalysts for CO2 reduction.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Left bundle branch area pacing (LBBAP) is safe and effective, but studies in older patients are lacking. This study compared the clinical and echocardiographic outcomes of LBBAP and right ventricular pacing (RVP) in patients aged ≥75 years. METHODS: This prospective observational study included older patients with symptomatic bradycardia who underwent LBBAP or RVP between 2019 and 2022. Clinical data, including pacing and electrophysiological characteristics, echocardiographic measurements, and device-related complications were collected. The primary endpoint was a composite of all-cause mortality, heart failure hospitalization, and upgrade to biventricular pacing. Secondary outcomes included changes in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). RESULTS: Of 267 included patients, 110 underwent LBBAP and 157 underwent RVP. LBBAP was successful in 109 patients (success rate: 99.1%), with one patient eventually undergoing RVP. The pacing parameters of LBBAP were similar to those of RVP, except for a significantly narrower paced QRS duration (112.8 ± 11.6 vs. 138.3 ± 23.9 ms, p < .001). Ventricular lead implanting procedural duration was longer for LBBAP than RVP (14.0 vs. 6.0 min, p < .001), as was the fluoroscopy time (4.0 vs. 2.0 min, p < .001). During a mean follow-up period of 31.0 ± 16.8 months, the primary outcome incidence was significantly lower following LBBAP than RVP (15.1% vs. 21.1%; hazard ratio, 0.471; 95% confidence interval, 0.215-1.032; p = .036) in 149 patients (55.8%) with ventricular pacing burden > 20%. RVP reduced LVEF from 62.7 ± 4.1% at baseline to 59.8 ± 7.8% at the final follow-up (p = .001), whereas LBBAP preserved LVEF (61.4 ± 6.3% vs. 60.1 ± 7.4%, p = .429). CONCLUSION: LBBAP demonstrated improved clinical outcomes compared with RVP and maintained LVEF in older patients with high ventricular pacing burdens.

RESUMEN

A signal-amplified platform was designed to construct a label-free electrochemical aptasensor for lead ions (Pb2+) assay. First, flower-like molybdenum disulfide-supported AuNPs (AuNPs@MoS2) nanocomposites were synthesized and used as substrates for modifying the electrode. The AuNPs@MoS2 material possessed large surface area and superior biocompatibility, which was beneficial to improve the loading amount of the complementary DNA (cDNA) and amplified the response signal. Importantly, the prepared core-shell Pt@Pd bimetallic nanoparticles (Pt@PdNPs) were used to conjugate with redox marker thionine (Thi) and aptamer (Apt) for further signal amplification; the obtained signal probes (Thi-Pt@PdNPs-Apt) were connected by the cDNA assembled on the electrode through DNA hybridization. Differential pulse voltammetry was performed to monitor the signal of Thi. After incubating of aptasensor with Pb2+, the specific recognition of Pb2+ and Apt resulted in the dissociation of aptamer-cDNA complex, thereby the Thi-Pt@PdNPs-Apt separated from the electrode surface and decreased current response was obtained. The prepared electrochemical sensor exhibited linear response to Pb2+ in the range 5.0 × 10-4-100 nM and a detection limit of 1.0 × 10-4 nM was achieved. The sensor was applied to the determination of Pb2+ in actual sample with high sensitivity and accuracy, demonstrating potential applications in heavy metal monitoring.

RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: Quality evaluation of Huang-qin is significant to ensure its clinical efficacy. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to establish an accurate, rapid and comprehensive Huang-qin quality evaluation method to overcome the time-consuming and laborious shortcomings of traditional herbal medicine quality assessment methods. METHODS: The contents of baicalin, baicalein and scutellarin in Huang-qin from five different origins were analyzed by FT-IR and NIR spectra combined with multivariate data technology. The quality of Huang-qin from different origins was evaluated by TOPSIS and consistency analysis based on the content of three active ingredients. The correlation between ecological factors and the accumulation of active ingredients was explored. RESULTS: Satisfactory prediction results of PLS models were obtained. Relatively, the model based on FT-IR combined with the PLS regression method has higher R2 and smaller RMSE than the NIR combined with the PLS method. TOPSIS and consistency analysis results showed that the quality of Huang-qin from different geographical origins was significantly different. The results showed that the quality of Huang-qin produced in Shanxi Province was the best among the five origins studied. The results also found that the quality of Huang-qin in different growing areas of the same origin was not completely consistent. The correlation study showed that altitude, sunshine duration and rainfall were the main factors that caused the quality difference of medicinal materials in different geographical origins. CONCLUSION: This study provides a reference for the rapid quantitative analysis of the active components of herbal medicine and the quality evaluation of them.

RESUMEN

Large-current electrolysis of CO2 to multi-carbon (C2+) products is critical to realize the industrial application of CO2 conversion. However, the poor binding strength of *CO intermediates on the catalyst surface induces multiple competing pathways, which hinder the C2+ production. Herein, we report that p-d orbital hybridization induced by Ga-doped Cu (CuGa) could promote efficient CO2 electrocatalysis to C2+ products at ampere-level current density. It was found that CuGa exhibited the highest C2+ productivity with a remarkable Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 81.5% at a current density of 0.9 A/cm2, and the potential at such a high current density was -1.07 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode. At 1.1 A/cm2, the catalyst still maintained a high C2+ productivity with an FE of 76.9%. Experimental and theoretical studies indicated that the excellent performance of CuGa results from the p-d hybridization of Cu and Ga, which not only enriches reactive sites but also enhances the binding strength of the *CO intermediate and facilitates C-C coupling. The p-d hybridization strategy can be extended to other p-block metal-doped Cu catalysts, such as CuAl and CuGe, to boost CO2 electroreduction for C2+ production. As far as we know, this is the first work to promote electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction to generate the C2+ product by p-d orbital hybridization interaction using a p-block metal-doped Cu catalyst.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: No effective treatments are available for liver fibrosis. Angiogenesis is deeply involved in liver fibrogenesis. However, current controversial results suggest it is difficult to treat liver fibrosis through vascular targeting. There are three different microvessels in liver: portal vessels, liver sinusoids, and central vessels. The changes and roles for each of the three different vessels during liver fibrogenesis are unclear. We propose that they play different roles during liver fibrogenesis, and a single vascular endothelial cell (EC) regulator is not enough to fully regulate these three vessels to treat liver fibrosis. Therefore, a combined regulation of multiple different EC regulatory signaling pathway may provide new strategies for the liver fibrosis therapy. Herein, we present a proof-of-concept strategy by combining the regulation of leukocyte cell-derived chemotaxin 2 (LECT2)/tyrosine kinase with immunoglobulin-like and epidermal growth factor-like domains 1 signaling with that of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)/recombinant VEGF (rVEGF) signaling. APPROACH AND RESULTS: The CCl4 -induced mouse liver fibrosis model and NASH model were both used. During fibrogenesis, vascular changes occurred at very early stage, and different liver vessels showed different changes and played different roles: decreased portal vessels, increased sinusoid capillarization and the increased central vessels the increase of portal vessels alleviates liver fibrosis, the increase of central vessels aggravates liver fibrosis, and the increase of sinusoid capillarization aggravates liver fibrosis. The combinational treatment of adeno-associated viral vector serotype 9 (AAV9)-LECT2-short hairpin RNA (shRNA) and rVEGF showed improved therapeutic effects, but it led to serious side effects. The combination of AAV9-LECT2-shRNA and bevacizumab showed both improved therapeutic effects and decreased side effects. CONCLUSIONS: Liver vascular changes occurred at very early stage of fibrogenesis. Different vessels play different roles in liver fibrosis. The combinational treatment of AAV9-LECT2-shRNA and bevacizumab could significantly improve the therapeutic effects on liver fibrosis.

RESUMEN

Background: Patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) complicated with arrhythmia are not uncommon. Insertion of temporary pacemakers (tPMs) in patients with arrythmia during acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is imperative support therapy. Arrhythmias include high-degree atrioventricular block (AVB), sinus arrest/bradycardia, and ventricular arrythmia storm. To date, no study has evaluated the prognosis of tPMs in patients with AMI complicated with arrhythmia. Especially in the era of thrombolysis or emergency percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for coronary artery revascularization, our study was designed to investigate the value of tPMs implantation in cases of AMI complicated with various arrhythmias. Methods: From January 2009 to January 2019, 35,394 patients with AMI, including 62.0% (21,935) with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and 38.0% (13,459) with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) in four hospitals, were reviewed. A total of 552 patients with AMI associated with arrythmia were included in the cohort. Among the 552 patients, there were 139 patients with tPM insertions. The incidence trend of myocardial infarction complicated with various arrhythmias in the past 10 years was analysed, and the clinical characteristics, in-hospital mortality, postdischarge mortality, composite endpoints of modality, and independent risk factors were compared in patients with and without tPM in the era of coronary artery revascularization. Results: In patients with AMI-associated arrythmia, high-degree AVB was the major cause of tPM insertion (p = 0.045). In the past 10 years, the number of patients with high-degree AVB, tPM implantation, ventricular arrythmia storm, and in-hospital mortality has decreased year by year in the era of coronary artery revascularization. In the tPM group, the culprit vessel was the left main artery, and cardiogenic shock, acute renal injury and high brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels were independent risk factors for patients with AMI complicated with arrhythmia. The in-hospital mortality in the tPM group was higher than that in the non-tPM group. The patients with tPM insertion showed better postdischarge survival than patients without tPM insertion. Conclusions: In the era of emergency thrombolysis or PCI, coronary revascularization can ameliorate the prognosis of patients with AMI complicated with various arrhythmias. Temporary pacemaker insertion in patients with AMI complicated with arrhythmia can reduce the postdischarge mortality of these patients.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: IL-33 is a multifunctional cytokine with dual functions. However, the clinicopathological and prognostic significance of IL-33 in cancer patients, especially in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), remains controversial. Therefore, we conducted a study of 565 patients with HCC and 561 healthy controls and performed a meta-analysis to quantitatively evaluate the above problems. METHODS: We collected blood from 565 patients with HCC and 561 healthy controls. ELISA was used to detect the concentrations of IL-33 and ST2 in the serum, and RT‒PCR was used to detect the levels of IL-33 and ST2 mRNA. Meanwhile, we collected comprehensive literature on IL-33 and the clinical characteristics of cancer patients retrieved from the PubMed, Web of Science and CNKI databases as of December 2022. An odds ratio (OR) with a 95% confidence interval (CI) was used to estimate the impact through overall and stratified analyses. RESULTS: Compared with the healthy control group, the levels of ST2 mRNA and serum in the peripheral blood of HCC patients increased (p < 0.05), while the levels of IL-33 mRNA and serum showed no significant difference between the two groups (p > 0.05). In the meta-analysis section, at the tissue level, the overall analysis showed that the expression of IL-33 was positively correlated with tumor stage, histological grade, distant metastasis, and tumor size. Compared with patients with low IL-33 expression, the 3-year overall survival (OS) rate (OR = 3.467, p < 0.001) and 5-year OS rate (OR = 2.784, p < 0.001) of patients with high IL-33 expression were lower. At the serum expression level, the overall analysis showed that the expression of IL-33 increased the risk of cancer, and the serum level of IL-33 was positively correlated with tumor stage and vascular invasion. CONCLUSION: IL-33/ST2 is a useful predictive or prognostic biomarker in clinical evaluation and may be used as a potential therapeutic target, but much research is needed to verify this hypothesis.

RESUMEN

AIMS: To investigate whether left bundle branch area pacing (LBBAP) can reduce the risk of new-onset atrial fibrillation (AF) compared with right ventricular pacing (RVP). METHODS AND RESULTS: Patients with indications for dual-chamber pacemaker implant and no history of AF were prospectively enrolled if they underwent successful LBBAP or RVP. The primary endpoint was time to the first occurrence of AF detected by pacemaker programming or surface electrocardiogram. Follow-up at clinic visit was performed and multivariate Cox regression models were applied to evaluate the effect of LBBAP on new-onset AF. The final analysis included 527 patients (mean age 65.3 ± 12.6, male 47.3%), with 257 in the LBBAP and 270 in the RVP groups. During a mean follow-up of 11.1 months, LBBAP resulted in significantly lower incidence of new-onset AF (7.4 vs. 17.0%, P < 0.001) and AF burden (3.7 ± 1.9 vs. 9.3 ± 2.2%, P < 0.001) than RVP. After adjusting for confounding factors, LBBAP demonstrated a lower hazard ratio for new-onset AF compared with RVP {hazard ratio (HR) [95% confidence interval (CI)]: 0.278 (0.156, 0.496), P < 0.001}. A significant interaction existed between pacing modalities and the percentage of ventricular pacing (VP%) (P for interaction = 0.020). In patients with VP ≥ 20%, LBBAP was associated with decreased risk of new-onset AF compared with RVP [HR (95% CI): 0.199 (0.105, 0.378), P < 0.001]. The effect of pacing modalities was not pronounced in patients with VP < 20% [HR (95% CI): 0.751 (0.309, 1.823), P = 0.316]. CONCLUSION: Left bundle branch area pacing demonstrated a reduced risk of new-onset AF compared with RVP. Patients with a high ventricular pacing burden might benefit from LBBAP.

RESUMEN

A single-layer graphene metamaterial consisting of a horizontal graphene strip, four vertical graphene strips, and two graphene rings is proposed to realize tunable multi-plasma-induced transparency (MPIT) by the coupled mode theory and the finite-difference time-domain method. A switch with three modulation modes is realized by dynamically adjusting the Fermi level of graphene. Moreover, the effect of symmetry breaking on MPIT is investigated by controlling the geometric parameters of graphene metamaterials. Triple-PIT, dual-PIT, single-PIT can be transformed into each other. The proposed structure and results provide guidance for applications such as designing photoelectric switches and modulators.

RESUMEN

Molecular imprinted colorimetric sensors can realize visual semi-quantitative analysis without the use of any equipment. With the advantages of low cost, fast response, ease of handling, and excellent recognition ability, the molecular imprinted colorimetric sensor shows great application potential in the field of sample rapid assay. Molecular imprinted colorimetric sensors can be prepared in various forms to meet the needs of different sample determination, such as film, hydrogel, strip, and adsorption coating. In this review, the preparation methods for various types of molecularly imprinted colorimetric sensors are systematically introduced. Their applications in the field of on-site biological sample detection, drug detection, disease treatment, chiral substance detection and separation, environmental analysis, and food safety detection are introduced. The limitations encountered in the practical application are presented, and the future development directions prospect.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Currently, skinfold thickness in studies on arm venous access ports and the effect of venous access port application are unknown. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 256 cancer patients who underwent primary venous access port placement in the Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University from September 2022 to March 2023 were selected as the study subjects. Two hundred fifty-six patients were divided into normal skinfold thickness group and high skinfold thickness group according to skinfold thickness. The success rate of primary catheterization of arm venous port catheterization, catheterization operation time, catheterization length and incidence rate of adverse reactions were compared. RESULTS: There was no significant difference in the basic data between the two groups. There was no significant difference in the success rate of primary catheterization between the two groups (p > 0.05), the catheterization operation time in the normal skinfold thickness group was significantly lower than that in the high skinfold thickness group (p < 0.05), the total length of the implanted catheter in the normal skinfold thickness group was significantly lower than that in the high skinfold thickness group (p < 0.05), and the incidence of adverse reactions in the normal skinfold thickness group was significantly lower than that in the high skinfold thickness group (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: In cancer patients, skinfold thickness can significantly affect the application effect of arm venous port, and normal skinfold thickness for arm venous port has shorter operation time, total length of implanted catheter and lower incidence of adverse reactions.
