Bis-carbonylimidazolide (BCI) functionalization enables an efficient synthetic strategy to generate high molecular weight segmented nonisocyanate polyurethanes (NIPUs). Melt phase polymerization of ED-2003 Jeffamine, 4,4'-methylenebis(cyclohexylamine), and a BCI monomer that mimics a 1,4-butanediol chain extender enables polyether NIPUs that contain varying concentrations of hard segments ranging from 40 to 80 wt. %. Dynamic mechanical analysis and differential scanning calorimetry reveal thermal transitions for soft, hard, and mixed phases. Hard segment incorporations between 40 and 60 wt. % display up to three distinct phases pertaining to the poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) soft segment Tg, melting transition, and hard segment Tg, while higher hard segment concentrations prohibit soft segment crystallization, presumably due to restricted molecular mobility from the hard segment. Atomic force microscopy allows for visualization and size determination of nanophase-separated regimes, revealing a nanoscale rod-like assembly of HS. Small-angle X-ray scattering confirms nanophase separation within the NIPU, characterizing both nanoscale amorphous domains and varying degrees of crystallinity. These NIPUs, which are synthesized with BCI monomers, display expected phase separation that is comparable to isocyanate-derived analogues. This work demonstrates nanophase separation in BCI-derived NIPUs and the feasibility of this nonisocyanate synthetic pathway for the preparation of segmented PU copolymers.

RESUMEN

The evolution of critical care medicine is inextricably linked to the development of critical care procedures. These procedures not only facilitate diagnosis and treatment of critically ill patients, but also provide valuable insights into disease pathophysiology. While critical care interventions offer undeniable benefits, the potential for iatrogenic complications necessitates careful consideration. The recent surge in critical care ultrasound (US) utilization is a testament to its unique advantages: non-invasiveness, real-time bedside availability, direct visualization of internal structures, elimination of ionizing radiation exposure, repeatability, and relative ease of learning. Recognizing the need to optimize procedures and minimize complications, critical care utrasound study group of Beijing critical care ultrasound research assocition convened a panel of critical care experts to generate this consensus statement. This document serves as a guide for healthcare providers, aiming to ensure patient safety and best practices in critical care.

Objective: To analyze the distribution characteristics of UGT1A1 mutant genes (including enhancers, promoters, and exons 1-5) and further explore the correlation between UGT1A1 genotype and clinical phenotypes in patients with inherited hyperunconjugated bilirubinemia. Methods: Patients diagnosed with hereditary hyperunconjugated bilirubinemia at Nanjing Second Hospital from June 2015 to December 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The UGT1A1 gene was examined using Sanger sequencing in all patients. Complete blood count, liver function, and abdominal imaging examinations were performed. Comparison of categorical variable data using χ(2) testor Fisher percision tests. Comparison of continaous veriable data with normal distribution using t-test. Results: 112 cases (male:female ratio 81:31, aged 9-70 years) had inherited hyperunconjugated bilirubinemia, with a total of 14 mutation sites identified, of which seven were confirmed mutations, and the frequency ranged from high to low: (TA)n accounted for 50%, c.211G>A (p.G71R) accounted for 49.10%, 1456T>G (p.Y486D) accounted for 16.96%, c.686C>A (p.R229W) accounted for 12.5%, 1091C>T (p.P364L) accounted for 8.04%, and c- 3279T>G accounted for 0.982%. Simultaneously, all patients had one to four mutations, of which only one mutation was the most common (55.36%), followed by two mutations (37.5%), and rare three and four mutations (5.36% and 1.78%). There was no statistical significance in total bilirubin (TBil) levels among the four groups (F=0.652, P=0.583). One mutation was most common in (TA)n and c.211G>A (p.G71R), among which TA6/TA7 (n=10) and TA7/TA7 (n=14) mutations were statistically significant in TBil (t=2.143, P=0.043). The c.211G>A (p.G71R) heterozygous (n=9) and isolated (n=15) mutation had no statistical significance in TBil (t=0.382, P=0.706). The GS group accounted for 75%, the intermediate group accounted for 16.9%, and the CNS-Ⅱ group accounted for 8%. TBil was statistically significant among the three groups (F=270.992, P<0.001). There was no statistically significant difference (χ(2)=3.317, P=0.19) between mutation 1 (44 cases, 14 cases, and 4 cases, respectively) and mutations ≥ 2 (40 cases, 5 cases, and 5 cases, respectively) in the GS group, intermediate group, and CNS-II group. Conclusion: The number of UGT1A1 gene mutation sites may have no synergistic effect on TBil levels in patients with inherited hyperunconjugated bilirubinemia. TA7/TA7 mutations are not uncommon, and TBil levels are relatively high.

Non-atypical endometrial hyperplasia is a benign disease without significant somatic genetic changes. Postmenopausal women with non-atypical endometrial hyperplasia have a significant risk of progression to endometrial cancer and persistent endometrial hyperplasia. Most cases of atypical endometrial hyperplasia in postmenopausal women are treated surgically, including hysterectomy. At present, the treatment of postmenopausal women with non-atypical endometrial hyperplasia is still controversial. Correct and timely diagnosis and treatment are of great significance to prevent progression of the lesion. This study mainly provides an updated synthesis of the literature that investigates the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of postmenopausal women with non-atypical endometrial hyperplasia. As of December 2022, a literature search related to postmenopausal non-atypical endometrial hyperplasia was conducted on the PubMed database. For most postmenopausal patients with non-atypical endometrial hyperplasia, regular re-examination should be performed during conservative treatment. For postmenopausal patients with endometrial cancer risk factors, persistent non-atypical endometrial hyperplasia or progesterone contraindications, hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy should be the first choice.

Objective: To investigate the correlation between balloon volume and Meckel's cave size during percutaneous puncture microballoon compression (PMC) for trigeminal neuralgia and the influence of the compression coefficient (the ratio of balloon volume/Meckel's cave size) on the prognosis. Methods: Seventy-two patients (28 males and 44 females) aged (62±11) years who underwent PMC under general anesthesia for trigeminal neuralgia in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from February 2018 to October 2020 were retrospectively collected. All patients underwent preoperative cranial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to measure Meckel's cave size, intraoperative balloon volume was recorded, and the compression coefficient was calculated. Follow-up visits were performed preoperatively (T0) and 1 d (T1), 1 month (T2), 3 months (T3), and 6 months (T4) postoperatively, either in the outpatient clinic or by telephone, and the Barrow Neurological Institute pain scale (BNI-P) score, the Barrow Neurological Institute facial numbness (BNI-N) score and the occurrence of complications were recorded and compared at each time point. Patients were divided into 3 groups according to different prognoses: patients in group A (n=48) were with no recurrence of pain and mild facial numbness, patients in group B (n=19) were with no recurrence of pain but severe facial numbness, while those in group C (n=5) had recurrence of pain. The differences in balloon volume, Meckel's cave size, and compression coefficient were compared among the three groups, and the correlation between balloon volume and Meckel's cave size in each group was analyzed by Pearson correlation. Results: The effective rate of PMC for trigeminal neuralgia was 93.1% (67/72). At time points from T0 to T4, patients had BNI-P scores [M (Q1, Q3)] of 4.5 (4.0, 5.0), 1.0 (1.0, 1.0), 1.0 (1.0, 1.0), 1.0 (1.0, 1.0) and 1.0 (1.0, 1.0), and BNI-N scores [M (Q1, Q3)] of 1.0 (1.0, 1.0), 4.0 (3.0, 4.0), 3.0 (3.0, 4.0), 3.0 (2.0, 4.0) and 2.0 (2.0, 3.0), respectively. Compared with those at T0, patients had lower BNI-P scores and higher BNI-N scores from T1 to T4 (all P<0.05). In all patients, group A, group B, and group C, the balloon volume was (0.65±0.15), (0.67±0.15), (0.59±0.15) and (0.67±0.17) cm3, respectively, with no statistically significant difference (P>0.05), while the Meckel's cave size was (0.42±0.12), (0.44±0.11), (0.32±0.07), and (0.57±0.11) cm3, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.001). The balloon volumes and Meckel's cave sizes were all linearly and positively correlated (r=0.852, 0.924, 0.937 and 0.969, all P<0.05). The compression coefficient in group A, B and C was (1.54±0.14), (1.84±0.18) and (1.18±0.10), respectively, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.001). There were no serious intraoperative complications such as death, diplopia, arteriovenous fistula, cerebrospinal fluid leak, and subarachnoid hemorrhage. Conclusions: Intraoperative balloon volume during PMC for trigeminal neuralgia is linearly and positively correlated with the volume of the patient's Meckel's cave. The compression coefficient varies among patients with different prognoses and the compression coefficient may be a factor affecting the patient's prognosis.

With the global increase in the prevalence of allergic diseases and the rising life expectancy, it is anticipated that the number of elderly patients affected by allergies will also increase. While it was previously believed that allergies primarily affected children and adolescents and diminished with age, epidemiological studies indicate a growing prevalence of allergies in the elderly. Various allergic diseases have similar prevalence rates in the elderly as in the general population, and some, like drug allergies, are even more prevalent in this age group. Allergic diseases in the elderly often present with atypical symptoms, leading to challenges in differential diagnosis and treatment. This paper discusses immunosenescence and the distinct features of allergic diseases in older individuals. The goal is to raise awareness among healthcare providers about allergies in older adults, encourage preventive measures, and improve the quality of life for elderly patients with allergies. By managing allergies better, it can also help with the management of other chronic diseases in the elderly and contribute to better overall health for everyone.

This study aimed to explore the biological role and mechanism underlying the effects of colon cancer-associated transcript 2 (CCAT2), a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) in human laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC). CCAT2 expression levels in clinical LSCC samples and TU-212 cell line were evaluated by quantitative real-time PCR. The correlation of CCAT2 expression level with clinical-pathological characteristics of patients and their prognosis was analyzed. The functional role of CCAT2 in human LSCC was assessed by Cell Counting Kit-8, Transwell assay, flow cytometric analysis, and LSCC xenograft experiment in vivo. The expression of potential targeted proteins was detected by Western blotting and immunohistochemistry. We found that expression of CCAT2 was significantly elevated in LSCC tissues and TU-212 cells (p<0.05). Survival analysis showed that LSCC patients with high expression of CCAT2 had a shorter 5-year overall survival rate than those with low expression (p<0.05). In addition, CCAT2 silencing with short hairpin RNA significantly decreased the proliferative and invasive potential of TU-212 cells (p<0.05) and promoted their apoptosis. In Nude mice, CCAT2 knockdown suppressed the growth of tumor and decreased its volume and weight in comparison with the controls (p<0.05). In TU-212 cells, CCAT2 silencing with short hairpin RNA significantly down-regulated the expression of ß-catenin and CDK8 (p<0.05). Thus, knockdown of CCAT2 suppresses proliferation and invasion of the cells and inhibits Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway in LSCC, which indicates novel therapeutic targets and prognostic indicators in patients with LSCC.

Objective: To investigate the clinicopathological features, diagnosis and differential diagnosis of breast myofibroblastoma. Methods: The clinicopathological data and prognostic information of 15 patients with breast myofibroblastoma diagnosed at the Department of Pathology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou, China from 2014 to 2022 were collected. Their clinical characteristics, histological subtypes, immunophenotypes and molecular characteristics were analyzed. Results: There were 12 female and 3 male patients, ranging in age from 18 to 78 years, with a median and average age of 52 years. There were 6 cases in the left breast and 9 cases in the right breast, including 12 cases in outer upper quadrant, 2 cases in inner upper quadrant and 1 case in outer lower quadrant. Most of the cases showed a well-defined nodule grossly, including pushing growth under the microscope in 13 cases, being completely separated from the surrounding breast tissue in 1 case, and infiltrating growth in 1 case. Among them, 12 cases were classic subtype and composed of occasional spindle cells with varying intervals of collagen fiber bundles; eight cases had a small amount of fat; one case had focal cartilage differentiation; one case was epithelioid subtype, in which epithelioid tumor cells were scattered in single filing or small clusters; one case was schwannoma-like subtype, and the tumor cells were arranged in a significant palisade shape, resembling schwannoma, and one case was invasive leiomyoma-like subtype, in which the tumor cells had eosinophilic cytoplasm and were arranged in bundles, and infiltrating into the surrounding mammary lobules like leiomyoma. Immunohistochemical studies showed that the tumor cells expressed desmin (14/15) and CD34 (14/15), as well as ER (15/15) and PR (15/15). Three cases with histologic subtypes of epithelioid subtype, schwannoma-like subtype and infiltrating leiomyoma-like subtype showed RB1 negative immunohistochemistry. Then FISH was performed to detect RB1/13q14 gene deletion, and identified RB1 gene deletion in all three cases. Fifteen cases were followed up for 2-100 months, and no recurrence was noted. Conclusions: Myofibroblastoma is a rare benign mesenchymal tumor of the breast. In addition to the classic type, there are many histological variants, among which the epithelioid subtype is easily confused with invasive lobular carcinoma. The schwannoma-like subtype is similar to schwannoma, while the invasive subtype is easily misdiagnosed as fibromatosis-like or spindle cell metaplastic carcinoma. Therefore, it is important to recognize the various histological subtypes and clinicopathological features of the tumor for making correct pathological diagnosis and rational clinical treatment.

Nucleoside analogues and nucleotide analogues can not only achieve long-term viral suppression in the treatment of most CHB patients but also have a positive impact on other CHB therapeutic goals and an improved prognosis. A certain difference can be observed in the impact of nucleotide analogues such as TDF and TAF and nucleoside analogues such as ETV on the clinical outcomes of CHB. Studies on the mechanism of action indicate that apart from inhibiting the direct antiviral effects of HBV reverse transcriptase, these two categories of drugs exhibit distinct impacts on immune-related signaling pathways, gene expression, genome stability, and other non-antiviral mechanisms. This article reviews the evidence on the potential non-antiviral mechanism of action of nucleoside analogues and nucleotide analogues and proposes a preliminary explanation for the observation trend of nucleotide analogues having a comparative advantage in clinical outcomes in CHB patients based on the latest research advancement.

A male neonate who was unable to open both eyes with the adhesion of upper and lower palpebral margins since birth was clinically diagnosed as bilateral ankyloblepharon filiforme adnatum. The fused eyelids were divided surgically under general anesthesia. The neonate can open and close eyes normally with right positions of eyelids and flexible movements of eyeballs to follow light after the surgery.

The equatorial Pacific Ocean is one of the major high-nutrient, low-chlorophyll regions in the global ocean. In such regions, the consumption of the available macro-nutrients such as nitrate and phosphate is thought to be limited in part by the low abundance of the critical micro-nutrient iron. Greater atmospheric dust deposition could have fertilized the equatorial Pacific with iron during the last ice age--the Last Glacial Period (LGP)--but the effect of increased ice-age dust fluxes on primary productivity in the equatorial Pacific remains uncertain. Here we present meridional transects of dust (derived from the (232)Th proxy), phytoplankton productivity (using opal, (231)Pa/(230)Th and excess Ba), and the degree of nitrate consumption (using foraminifera-bound δ(15)N) from six cores in the central equatorial Pacific for the Holocene (0-10,000 years ago) and the LGP (17,000-27,000 years ago). We find that, although dust deposition in the central equatorial Pacific was two to three times greater in the LGP than in the Holocene, productivity was the same or lower, and the degree of nitrate consumption was the same. These biogeochemical findings suggest that the relatively greater ice-age dust fluxes were not large enough to provide substantial iron fertilization to the central equatorial Pacific. This may have been because the absolute rate of dust deposition in the LGP (although greater than the Holocene rate) was very low. The lower productivity coupled with unchanged nitrate consumption suggests that the subsurface major nutrient concentrations were lower in the central equatorial Pacific during the LGP. As these nutrients are today dominantly sourced from the Subantarctic Zone of the Southern Ocean, we propose that the central equatorial Pacific data are consistent with more nutrient consumption in the Subantarctic Zone, possibly owing to iron fertilization as a result of higher absolute dust fluxes in this region. Thus, ice-age iron fertilization in the Subantarctic Zone would have ultimately worked to lower, not raise, equatorial Pacific productivity.

Urothelial carcinoma (UC) is the predominant form of bladder cancer. Significant molecular heterogeneity caused by diverse molecular alterations brings about large variations in the response to treatment in UC. An improved understanding of the genetic mechanisms underlying the development and progression of UC is essential. Through deep analysis of next-generation sequencing data of 99 UC patients, we found that 18% of cases had recurrent somatic mutations in zinc finger protein gene zinc finger protein 83 (ZNF83). ZNF83 mutations were correlated with poor prognosis of UC. We also found a hotspot mutation, p.E293V, in the evolutionarily well-conserved region of ZNF83. ZNF83-E293V increased tumor growth and reduced the apoptosis of UC cells compared to wild-type ZNF83 both in vitro and in mice xenografted tumors. ZNF83-E293V activated nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) more potently than did the wild-type protein owing to its decreased transcriptional repression for S100A8. The NF-κB inhibitors could pharmacologically block the tumor growth in mice engrafted with ZNF83-E293V-transfected UC cells. These findings provide a mechanistic insight and a potential therapeutic strategy for UC, which established a foundation for using the ZNF83-E293V mutation as a predictive biomarker of therapeutic response from NF-κB inhibitors.

Bohai Black (BHB) cattle, one of eight representative indigenous breeds in China, is well known for its high resistance to disease, endurance under unfavorable feeding conditions and excellent meat quality. Over recent, the number of BHB cattle has decreased sharply. To investigate the population structure and genetic diversity of this breed, the whole-genome data of 35 individuals from a conservation farm were obtained using the Illumina 150 bp paired-end platform. The results of the genetic structure and diversity analyses showed that BHB cattle had mixed Bos taurus and Bos indicus ancestry, close phylogenic relationships with Jiaxian Red and Luxi cattle and abundant genetic diversity. The bulls tested here could be divided into six families. This study presents a comprehensive evaluation of the genetic structure and diversity of the BHB cattle, and lays the theoretical basis for conservation and utilization of the valuable germplasm resource.

METHODS: Our study used stratified random cluster sampling method to recruit 6,251 adolescents aged 11-19 years as samples for research and analysis. The Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale was used to assess depressive symptoms. Chi-squared test, t test, and logistic regression were used to explore the diet and lifestyle factors of depressive symptoms. Backpropagation (BP) neural network model was used to investigate the ranking of diet and lifestyle behaviors factors of depressive symptoms. RESULTS: The prevalence of depressive symptoms among adolescents was 32.1%. Multivariable logistic regression was used to determine 10 important variables of depressive symptoms. After ranking the importance by BP neural network, the top three important variables were found, which were sleep duration (100%), screen time (49.1%), and breakfast (23.6%). CONCLUSION: Sleep duration, screen time, and breakfast were associated factors with the most significant impacts on depressive symptoms.

Objective: To explore the safety and effectiveness of stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for oligometastases from colorectal cancer (CRC). Methods: This is a prospective, single-arm phase Ⅱ trial. Patients who had histologically proven CRC, 1 to 5 detectable liver or lung metastatic lesions with maximum diameter of any metastases ≤5 cm were eligible. SBRT was delivered to all lesions. The primary endpoint was 3-year local control (LC). The secondary endpoints were treatment-related acute toxicities of grade 3 and above, 1-year and 3-year overall survival (OS) and progression free survival (PFS). Survival analysis was performed using the Kaplan-Meier method and Log rank test. Results: Petients from 2016 to 2019 who were treated in Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College. Forty-eight patients with 60 lesions were enrolled, including 37 liver lesions and 23 lung lesions. Forty-six patients had 1 or 2 lesions, with median diameter of 1.3 cm, the median biologically effective dose (BED(10)) was 100.0 Gy. The median follow-up was 19.5 months for all lesions. Twenty-five lesions developed local failure, the median local progression free survival was 15 months. The 1-year LC, OS and PFS was 70.2% (95% CI, 63.7%~76.7%), 89.0% (95% CI, 84.3%~93.7%) and 40.4% (95%CI, 33.0%~47.8%). The univariate analysis revealed that planning target volume (PTV) and total dose were independent prognostic factors of LC (P<0.05). For liver and lung lesions, the 1-year LC, OS and PFS was 58.7% and 89.4% (P=0.015), 89.3% and 86.5% (P=0.732), 30.5% and 65.6% (P=0.024), respectively. No patients developed acute toxicity of grade 3 and above. Conclusion: SBRT is safe and effective treatment method for oligometastases from CRC under precise respiratory motion management and robust quality assurance.

The clinical data, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of 10 patients with anti-glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) antibody-related cerebellar ataxia in Department of Neurology, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, from May 2015 to November 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 8 female patients with a median age of 55 years old. Patients mainly presented with gait ataxia (10/10), dizziness (8/10), diplopia (6/10), and dysarthria (5/10). Four of them were complicated with other autoimmune disease, including vitiligo (3/4), Hashimoto thyroiditis (1/4), thrombocytopenia (1/4), and small cell lung cancer (1/4). All patients received immunotherapy, 6 out of 10 exhibited a good response, and half of them had satisfied functional prognosis. Patients of anti-GAD antibody-related cerebellar ataxia may be complicated with other autoimmune diseases, but underlying tumor is rare. More than half of patients have a good response to immunotherapy and satisfied prognosis.

Objective: To study the clinical significance of autoantibodies against different ubiquitin carboxyl hydrolase L1 (UCH-L1) epitopes in Sjogren syndrome (SS). Methods: The serum levels of different UCH-L1 epitope autoantibodies in 98 SS patients [SS group, 17 males and 81 females, aged (49.1±12.3) years] in the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University and Peking University People's Hospital from January 2017 to January 2020 and 37 healthy controls [control group, 6 males and 31 females, aged (46.3±5.8) years] were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Three potential epitopes of UCH-L1 protein were analyzed and synthesized and anti-UCH-L1203-214 and anti-UCH-L158-69 antibodies were studied between the two groups. The levels of the two anti-UCH-L1 antibodies in the two groups were compared. The correlation between the levels of UCH-L1 antibodies and clinical data of SS patients were analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis. Results: The serum levels of anti-UCH-L1203-214 and anti-UCH-L158-69 antibody in SS patients were significantly higher than those in healthy controls (HCs) (anti-UCH-L1203-214: 108.2±54.3 vs 78.9±25.8, P<0.001, anti-UCH-L158-69: 86.8±33.3 vs 60.4±21.5, P<0.001). The positive rates of anti-UCH-L1203-214 and anti-UCH-L158-69 antibodies in serums of SS patients were 27.6 % (27/98) and 25.5% (25/98), and those in HCs were 2.7%(1/37) and 5.4 %(2/37), respectively. In SS patients with positive serum anti-UCH-L158-69 antibody, the levels of IgG, γ globulin and rheumatoid factor (RF) and anti-SS-related antigen B (anti-SSB) antibody positive rate were all significantly higher than those in patients with negative antibody (all P<0.05). In SS patients with negative antinuclear antibody (ANA), anti-RNA binding protein (anti-RNP) antibody, anti-SS-related antigen A (anti-SSA) antibody and anti-SSB antibody, the positive rates of anti-UCH-L1203-214 antibody was 32.1%(9/28), 27.2%(25/92), 36.4%(12/33), 28.6%(18/63), respectively; and the positive rates of anti-UCH-L158-69 antibody was 21.4%(6/28), 30.4%(28/92), 30.3%(10/33), 20.6%(13/63), respectively. The level of serum anti-UCH-L1203-214 antibody in SS patients was positively correlated with the IgA level (r=0.21, P=0.024). The level of anti-UCH-L158-69 antibody in SS patients was positively correlated with the levels of γ-globulin, IgG and RF (r=0.35, 0.33, 0.32, all P<0.01). Conclusion: Autoantibodies against UCH-L1 epitopes are correlated with some clinical parameters of SS patients, which is of promising significance in the screening and diagnosis of SS.

The prevalence of allergic diseases has gradually increased worldwide along with the development of industrialization, changes in environmental factors, adjustment of people's diet structure and increasing exposure to allergens. Allergic diseases have become an important challenge to global public health strategies. Meanwhile, the coexistence with allergic rhinitis, and(or) allergic asthma, and(or) atopic dermatitis and other allergic diseases in a single patient is becoming more and more prevalent. Allergic comorbidities and multimorbidities will inevitably increase the difficulty of treating and recovery, seriously affect patients' quality of life, and greatly increase the burden on social medical insurance. Understanding the underlying mechanisms of comorbidities and multimorbidities has both preventive and therapeutic significance. This article reviews the research progress of allergy comorbidity and multimorbidity in order to address the importance of this phenominon, stimulate clinical attention and provide a reference for the formulation of prevention and treatment strategies.

Objective: A multicenter Chinese mainland survey was conducted to investigate the sensitization distribution characteristics of cat, dog and horse dander in patients with allergic diseases, so as to provide clinicians with epidemiological data of common animal allergens and useful information for the prevention and treatment of allergies in cats, dogs and horses. Methods: The epidemiological investigation and design was adopted. This study is based on the national epidemiological survey of allergic diseases led by the first affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University. From January to December in 2021, a total of 2 122 patients diagnosed with allergic diseases were included in the outpatient department of respiratory department/pediatrics/allergy department of 14 units such as the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, and 222 healthy subjects were included as controls from the physical examination center of the above units in the same period. All the subjects filled out the allergic disease questionnaire under the guidance of doctors, and the allergen-specific immunoglobulin E (sIgE) of cats, dogs and horses of all subjects were detected by magnetic particle chemiluminescence system. The epidemiological characteristics of three animal allergens in different diseases, ages and regions were analyzed. Chi square test was used to analyze the frequency difference between groups, t test or Mann Whitney U test was used to test the distribution difference between two groups, and one-way ANOVA or Kruskal Wallis H test was used to compare the distribution difference between multiple groups. Bar chart, Venn-plot and radar chart were drawn to show the sensitization distribution characteristics. A small number of missing values caused by subjects' omission have been excluded during the analysis. Results: The 2 122 patients with allergic diseases were 57.35% male (1 217/2 122) and 40.95% female (869/2 122), and 1.70% (36/2 122) patients had loss of gender information. The age of patients with allergic diseases was 9.0 (6.0, 28.0) years, while that of healthy controls was 29.0 (13.0, 39.0) years old, and there were 1.7% (36/2 122) and 0.9% (2/222) subjects with missing age information, respectively. The proportion of caesarean section in allergic patients was significantly higher than that in healthy controls (31.4% vs. 17.6%,χ2=16.582,P<0.001) [2.5% (54/2 122) of the patient group and 5.4% (12/222) of the control group had missing birth mode information], and the proportion of patients with allergic diseases who reported that both parents had allergic diseases was significantly higher than that of the control group (35.7% vs. 9.5%, χ2=65.171,P<0.001). Patients with allergic diseases are mainly school-age (6-12 years old) and adolescents (12-18 years old). 16.4% of patients with allergic diseases were sensitized to cat dander, 10% and 6% to dog and horse dander. The sensitization rate of cat dander in patients with rhinitis, asthma, conjunctivitis, food allergy and atopic dermatitis was the highest (16.4%-21.6%), followed by dog dander (10.2%-15.2%). The prevalence of allergic rhinitis was the highest among different animal sensitized populations. The proportion of cat, dog and horse allergens sensitized at the same time is between 10%-15%, and the proportion of any two or more animal dander sensitized at the same time is about 45%. Animal allergens are associated with respiratory allergic diseases, especially allergic rhinitis with allergic conjunctivitis. There were significant differences in the distribution of positive rates of three animal allergens in different regions, and the highest positive rate of cat dander was found in all provinces of the country. Conclusion: The sensitization rate of animal dander allergens increased significantly, and the highest was in children and adolescents. Cat dander is the most common animal allergen, followed by dog. Different animals show obvious cross or common sensitization due to their high homology.

The Chinese Journal of Hepatology has a 2020 core impact factor of 1.807, which position it first among the periodicals of gastroenterology. The China Association for Science and Technology classified it as T1 grade and included in the catalogue of high-level scientific and technological periodicals. Since 2021, it has received the special publishing fund of the Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Press and Publications, the High-quality Scientific and Technological Periodicals Funding Project of Chongqing Association for Science and Technology, and the Industry-university-research Cooperation and Collaborative Education Project of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and won many awards such as "Sichuan-Chongqing First-class Scientific and Technological Periodical" and "Chongqing High-quality Scientific and Technological Periodical", thereby ensuring the development of both qualitative and quantitative effects. Therefore, in 2022, we will work on attracting high-impact research reports, disseminate the academic results timely, efficiently and accurately, highlight the role of digital communication, and pave the way for the establishment of it as a first-class academic journal.
