RESUMEN

Herbivore-induced wounding can elicit a defense response in plants. However, whether plants possess a surveillance system capable of detecting herbivore threats and initiating preparatory defenses before wounding occurs remains unclear. In this study, we reveal that tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) trichomes can detect and respond to the mechanical stimuli generated by herbivores. Mechanical stimuli are preferentially perceived by long trichomes, and this mechanosensation is transduced via intra-trichome communication. This communication presumably involves calcium waves, and the transduced signals activate the jasmonic acid (JA) signaling pathway in short glandular trichomes, resulting in the upregulation of the Woolly (Wo)-SlMYC1 regulatory module for terpene biosynthesis. This induced defense mechanism provides plants with an early warning system against the threat of herbivore invasion. Our findings represent a perspective on the role of multicellular trichomes in plant defense and the underlying intra-trichome communication.

Single-cell analysis is a valuable tool for dissecting cellular heterogeneity in complex systems1. However, a comprehensive single-cell atlas has not been achieved for humans. Here we use single-cell mRNA sequencing to determine the cell-type composition of all major human organs and construct a scheme for the human cell landscape (HCL). We have uncovered a single-cell hierarchy for many tissues that have not been well characterized. We established a 'single-cell HCL analysis' pipeline that helps to define human cell identity. Finally, we performed a single-cell comparative analysis of landscapes from human and mouse to identify conserved genetic networks. We found that stem and progenitor cells exhibit strong transcriptomic stochasticity, whereas differentiated cells are more distinct. Our results provide a useful resource for the study of human biology.

Cell fate determination and primordium initiation on the placental surface are two key events for ovule formation in seed plants, which directly affect ovule density and seed yield. Despite ovules form in the marginal meristematic tissues of the carpels, angiosperm carpels evolved after the ovules. It is not clear how the development of the ovules and carpels is coordinated in angiosperms. In this study, we identify the S. lycopersicum CRABS CLAW (CRC) homologue SlCRCa as an essential determinant of ovule fate. We find that SlCRCa is not only expressed in the placental surface and ovule primordia but also functions as a D-class gene to block carpel fate and promote ovule fate in the placental surface. Loss of function of SlCRCa causes homeotic transformation of the ovules to carpels. In addition, we find low levels of the S. lycopersicum AINTEGUMENTA (ANT) homologue (SlANT2) favour the ovule initiation, whereas high levels of SlANT2 promote placental carpelization. SlCRCa forms heterodimer with tomato INNER NO OUTER (INO) and AGAMOUS (AG) orthologues, SlINO and TOMATO AGAMOUS1 (TAG1), to repress SlANT2 expression during the ovule initiation. Our study confirms that angiosperm basal ovule cells indeed retain certain carpel properties and provides mechanistic insights into the ovule initiation.

In recent years, single-cell analyses have revealed the heterogeneity of the tumour microenvironment (TME) at the genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic levels, further improving our understanding of the mechanisms of tumour development. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) technology allow analysis of the transcriptome at the single-cell level and have unprecedented potential for exploration of the characteristics involved in tumour development and progression. These techniques allow analysis of transcript sequences at higher resolution, thereby increasing our understanding of the diversity of cells found in the tumour microenvironment and how these cells interact in complex tumour tissue. Although scRNA-seq has emerged as an important tool for studying the tumour microenvironment in recent years, it cannot be used to analyse spatial information for cells. In this regard, spatial transcriptomics (ST) approaches allow researchers to understand the functions of individual cells in complex multicellular organisms by understanding their physical location in tissue sections. In particular, in related research on tumour heterogeneity, ST is an excellent complementary approach to scRNA-seq, constituting a new method for further exploration of tumour heterogeneity, and this approach can also provide unprecedented insight into the development of treatments for pancreatic cancer (PC). In this review, based on the methods of scRNA-seq and ST analyses, research progress on the tumour microenvironment and treatment of pancreatic cancer is further explained.

The locular gel, produced by the placenta, is important for fruit flavor and seed development in tomato. However, the mechanism underlying locule and placenta development is not fully understood yet. Here, we show that two SlARF transcription factors, SlARF8B and SlARF8A (SlARF8A/B), promote the development of locular and placenta tissues. The expression of both SlARF8A and SlARF8B is repressed by sly-microRNA167 (sly-miR167), allowing for the activation of auxin downstream genes. In slarf8a, slarf8b, and slarf8a/b mutants, the auxin (IAA) levels are decreased, whereas the levels of inactive IAA conjugates including IAA-Ala, IAA-Asp, and IAA-Glu are increased. We further find that SlARF8B directly inhibits the expression of SlGH3.4, an acyl acid amino synthetase that conjugates the amino acids to IAA. Disruption of such auxin balance by the increased expression of SlGH3.4 or SlGH3.2 results in defective locular and placental tissues. Taken together, our findings reveal an important regulatory module constituted by sly-miR167-SlARF8A/B-SlGH3.4 during the development of locular and placenta tissues of tomato fruits.

Fruit malformation is a major constrain in fruit production worldwide resulting in substantial economic losses. The farmers for decades noticed that the chilling temperature before blooming often caused malformed fruits. However, the molecular mechanism underlying this phenomenon is unclear. Here we examined the fruit development in response to cold stress in tomato, and demonstrated that short-term cold stress increased the callose accumulation in both shoot apical and floral meristems, resulting in the symplastic isolation and altered intercellular movement of WUS. In contrast to the rapidly restored SlWUS transcription during the recovery from cold stress, the callose removal was delayed due to obstructed plasmodesmata. The delayed reinstatement of cell-to-cell transport of SlWUS prevented the activation of SlCLV3 and TAG1, causing the interrupted feedback inhibition of SlWUS expression, leading to the expanded stem cell population and malformed fruits. We further showed that the callose dynamics in response to short-term cold stress presumably exploits the mechanism of bud dormancy during the seasonal growth, involving two antagonistic hormones, abscisic acid and gibberellin. Our results provide a novel insight into the cold stress regulated malformation of fruit.

BACKGROUND: Mycoplasma hominis infection is common in urinary tract. 18F-FDG-PET/CT is a valuable tool for tumor and infection diagnosis. Few studies have shown the 18F-FDG-PET/CT images after mycoplasma infection. CASE PRESENTATION: Here we described a case of Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia with thickened bladder wall. The 18F-FDG-PET/CT showed the SUVmax up to 36.1 mimicking bladder cancer. The results of histopathological examination and metagenomic sequencing of the blood and urinary revealed the Mycoplasma hominis infection. CONCLUSION: The full consideration should be given to the possibility of infection besides tumor in lesions with high SUV value in 18F-FDG-PET/CT, especially in immunodeficiency patients.

BACKGROUND: Endoscopic retrograde appendicitis therapy (ERAT) is an emerging endoscopic treatment modality for acute uncomplicated appendicitis (AUA) supported by several case series. However, to date, systematic studies have not been conducted in children and the prospective comparative data are lacking. Moreover, due to a concern for future malignancy risk in children from ionizing radiation, we used contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) instead of endoscopic retrograde appendiceal radiography (ERAR). Therefore, we conducted a prospective, randomized control clinical trial to compare the modified ERAT (mERAT) to antibiotic therapy in children with AUA. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and feasibility and of mERAT in the treatment of hospitalized children with AUA. METHODS: Children with AUA, confirmed by ultrasonography and or abdominal computed tomography, were consecutively enrolled from October 2018 to February, 2020. They were randomly assigned to receive mERAT or routine antibiotic treatment. Patients were followed until May, 2020. Th primary outcome variable was the duration of relief of the abdominal pain after treatment. We collected patient's demographics, ultrasonic imaging findings, colonoscopy findings, and treatment outcomes of the mERAT and adverse even associated with mERAT. RESULTS: A total of 83 children were enrolled. 36 were randomized to mERAT and 47 to antibiotics treatment. All children in the mERAT group had endoscopic confirmed acute uncomplicated appendicitis, and there were no significant complications. However, 9 of patients in antibiotic group were poor responsive to treatment and switched to mERAT. The overall success rate of treatment with mERAT (100%) was significantly higher than that of antibiotics (80.9%) (P = 0.004). The median time to discharge was significantly shorter in mERAT group than in antibiotics treatment group [6.0 ± 1.76 days] (P = 0.004). CONCLUSIONS: mERAT provide a new alternative therapeutic option for childhood with AUA, especially for families who are reluctant to undergo an appendectomy.

OBJECTIVE: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is heterogeneous, especially in multifocal tumours, which decreases the efficacy of clinical treatments. Understanding tumour heterogeneity is critical when developing novel treatment strategies. However, a comprehensive investigation of tumour heterogeneity in HCC is lacking, and the available evidence regarding tumour heterogeneity has not led to improvements in clinical practice. DESIGN: We harvested 42 samples from eight HCC patients and evaluated tumour heterogeneity using whole-exome sequencing, RNA sequencing, mass spectrometry-based proteomics and metabolomics, cytometry by time-of-flight, and single-cell analysis. Immunohistochemistry and quantitative polymerase chain reactions were performed to confirm the expression levels of genes. Three independent cohorts were further used to validate the findings. RESULTS: Tumour heterogeneity is considerable with regard to the genomes, transcriptomes, proteomes, and metabolomes of lesions and tumours. The immune status of the HCC microenvironment was relatively less heterogenous. Targeting local immunity could be a suitable intervention with balanced precision and practicability. By clustering immune cells in the HCC microenvironment, we identified three distinctive HCC subtypes with immunocompetent, immunodeficient, and immunosuppressive features. We further revealed the specific metabolic features and cytokine/chemokine expression levels of the different subtypes. Determining the expression levels of CD45 and Foxp3 using immunohistochemistry facilitated the correct classification of HCC patients and the prediction of their prognosis. CONCLUSION: There is comprehensive intratumoral and intertumoral heterogeneity in all dimensions of HCC. Based on the results, we propose a novel immunophenotypic classification of HCCs that facilitates prognostic prediction and may support decision making with regard to the choice of therapy.

BACKGROUND: The Woman's Condom, a newly designed condom for women, has obtained market approval in China, but it remains relatively unfamiliar to the migrant population. The aim of this study is to evaluate the short-term acceptability of the Woman's Condom and influencing factors among internal migrants. METHODS: A longitudinal study was conducted among 1800 migrants in Beijing, Chongqing, and Shanghai in China between August 2013 and August 2014.Three-level model was implemented with the Statistical Analysis System software (v.9.4 SAS Institute) to analyze within-individual changes, between-individuals effects, and between-group effects. RESULTS: Three-level model analysis revealed statistically higher short-term acceptability of the Woman's Condom among subjects who lived in Shanghai (ß = 6.50, t = 2.76, p < 0.01), unmarried and not in a cohabiting relationship (ß = 3.05, t = 2.76, p < 0.01) than those who lived in Beijing, married and in a cohabiting relationship. Female (ß = - 1.69, t = - 7.55, p < 0.01) and lower educational attainment (ß = - 2.30, t = - 1.94, p = 0.05) were negatively related, while occupations of education, health, and civil staff (ß = 1.50, t = 2.92, p < 0.01) were positively related to acceptability. It was predicted that migrants' acceptability of the Woman's Condom would significantly increase over time (ß = 1.09, t = 5.54, p < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS: The findings indicate that the Woman's Condom enjoyed relatively high short-term acceptability among migrants in China. In order to popularize the Women's Condoms in migrants, more publicity, consultation and training in open and prosperous areas should be strengthened.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the prevalence of urogenital tract infections with Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) and human papilloma virus (HPV) in males of reproductive age and the associated factors. METHODS: Using the multi-stage cluster sampling method and a structured questionnaire, we conducted an investigation among 18-50 years old males in Songjiang District, Shanghai, from August 2016 to July 2018. We collected secretory specimens from the urogenital tract of the subjects and detected the infections of UU and HPV by laboratory examination. RESULTS: Among the 621 males included in this study, 279 (44.93%) were found infected with UU, 18 (2.90%) with HPV, and 15 (2.42%) with both UU and HPV. Univariate analysis showed that smokers had a higher rate of UU infection (50.54% [140/277]) than non-smokers (40.41 [139/344]), and those with senior high school or secondary technical school education had a higher rate of HPV infection (4.84% [12/248]) than others (1.61% [6/373]). Binary stepwise logistic regression analysis revealed a higher risk of UU infection in the subjects with junior high school or lower education than in others (OR = 0.61, 95% CI: 0.39-0.96) as well as in smokers than in non-smokers (OR = 1.46, 95% CI: 1.01-2.01). CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of UU infection is high, while that of HPV is low among men of reproductive age in Songjiang, Shanghai. The screening of UU infection should be enhanced among men of reproductive age, especially among smokers and those with lower education.

Accumulating evidence shows that tigecycline, a first-in-class glycylcycline, has potential antitumour properties. Here, we found that tigecycline dramatically inhibited the proliferation of multiple myeloma (MM) cell lines RPMI-8226, NCI-H929 and U266 in a dose and time-dependent manner. Meanwhile, tigecycline also potently impaired the colony formation of these three cell lines. Mechanism analysis found that tigecycline led to cell cycle arrest at G0/G1 with down-regulation of p21, CDK2 and cyclin D1, rather than induced apoptosis, in MM cells. Importantly, we found that tigecycline induced autophagy and an autophagy inhibitor bafilomycin A1 further amplified the tigecycline-induced cytotoxicity, suggesting that autophagy plays a cytoprotective role in tigecycline-treated MM cells. Mechanisms modulating autophagy found that tigecycline enhanced the phosphorylation of AMPK, but did not decrease the phosphorylation of Akt, to inhibit the phosphorylation of mTOR and its two downstream effectors p70S6K1 and 4E-BP1. Tigecycline effectively inhibited tumour growth in the xenograft tumour model of RPMI-8226 cells. Autophagy also occurred in tigecycline-treated tumour xenograft, and autophagy inhibitor chloroquine and tigecycline had a synergistic effect against MM cells in vivo. Thus, our results suggest that tigecycline may be a promising candidate in the treatment of MM.

The survival rate of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) has increased while that of Philadelphia-positive (Ph+) ALL remains low. CD19 is a B-cell specific molecule related to the survival and proliferation of normal B cells. However, there is little information available on the effects of CD19 on the biological behavior of Ph+ ALL cells. In this study, we explored a lentiviral vector-mediated short hairpin RNA (shRNA) expression vector to stably reduce CD19 expression in Ph+ ALL cell line SUP-B15 cells and investigated the effects of CD19 downregulation on cell proliferation, apoptosis, drug sensitivity, cell adhesion, cell migration and cell invasion in vitro. CD19 mRNA and protein expression levels were inhibited significantly by CD19 shRNA. Down-regulation of CD19 could inhibit cell proliferation, adhesion, migration and invasion, and increase cell apoptosis and the efficacy of chemotherapeutic agents and imatinib in SUP-B15 cells. Moreover, we found that down-regulation of CD19 expression inhibits cell proliferation and induces apoptosis in SUP-B15 cells in a p53-dependent manner. Taken together, our results suggest that lentiviral vector-mediated RNA interference of CD19 gene may be a promising strategy in the treatment of Ph+ ALL.

α-Fe2O3 nanomaterials were synthesized by thermal oxidation of pure iron foil and the effects of current aging treatment and morphology on their field emission properties were systematically investigated. The current aging treatment was found to be an efficient method to improve the field emission properties of α-Fe2O3 nanoflakes. The emission current density was largely enhanced from 0.05-5.70 mA cm-2 under an applied electrical field of 7.8 MV m-1, and their threshold field decreased from than 11.0-6.6 MV m-1 after the current aging treatment. The mechanism of the improvement in the field emission performance of α-Fe2O3 nanoflakes induced by the current aging treatment is discussed. α-Fe2O3 nanostructures with various morphologies were synthesized by adjusting the growth temperatures between 300 °C-450 °C to optimize their morphologies. α-Fe2O3 nanoflakes synthesized at 350 °C were superior field emitters with a low threshold field of 5.1 MV m-1, high current density of 63.4 mA cm-2, and stable emission, which demonstrated that α-Fe2O3 nanoflakes could be a promising material for application as field emitters.

Pharmacological modulation of autophagy has been referred to as a promising therapeutic strategy for cancer. Matrine, a main alkaloid extracted from Sophora flavescens Ait, has antitumour activity against acute myelocytic leukaemia (AML). Whether autophagy is involved in antileukaemia activity of matrine remains unobvious. In this study, we demonstrated that matrine inhibited cell viability and colony formation via inducing apoptosis and autophagy in AML cell lines HL-60, THP-1 and C1498 as well as primary AML cells. Matrine promoted caspase-3 and PARP cleavage dose-dependently. Matrine up-regulated the level of LC3-II and down-regulated the level of SQSTM1/p62 in a dose-dependent way, indicating that autophagy should be implicated in anti-AML effect of matrine. Furthermore, the autophagy inhibitor bafilomycin A1 relieved the cytotoxicity of matrine by blocking the autophagic flux, while the autophagy promoter rapamycin enhanced the cytotoxicity of matrine. Additionally, matrine inhibited the phosphorylation of Akt, mTOR and their downstream substrates p70S6K and 4EBP1, which led to the occurrence of autophagy. In vivo study demonstrated that autophagy was involved in antileukaemia effect of matrine in C57BL/6 mice bearing murine AML cell line C1498, and the survival curves showed that mice did benefit from treatment with matrine. Collectively, our findings indicate that matrine exerts antitumour effect through apoptosis and autophagy, and the latter one might be a potential therapeutic strategy for AML.

KEY MESSAGE: In Chinese cabbage, there are two Rf loci for pol CMS and one of them was mapped to a 12.6-kb region containing a potential candidate gene encoding PPR protein. In Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa), polima cytoplasmic male sterility (pol CMS) is an important CMS type and is widely used for hybrid breeding. By extensive test crossing in Chinese cabbage, four restorer lines (92s105, 01s325, 00s109, and 88s148) for pol CMS were screened. By analyzing the allelism of the four restorer lines, it was found that 92s105, 01s325, and 00s109 had the same "restorers of fertility" (Rf) locus (designated as BrRfp1), but 88s148 had a different Rf locus (designated as BrRfp2). For fine mapping the BrRfp1 locus of 92s105, a BC1F1 population with 487 individuals and a BC1F2 population with 2485 individuals were successively constructed. Using simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers developed from Brassica rapa reference genome and InDel markers derived from whole-genome resequencing data of 94c9 and 92s105, BrRfp1 was mapped to a 12.6-kb region containing a potential candidate gene encoding pentatricopeptide repeat-containing protein. Based on the nucleotide polymorphisms of the candidate gene sequence between the restoring and nonrestoring alleles, a co-segregating marker SC718 was developed, which would be helpful for hybrid breeding by marker-assisted screening and for detecting new restorer lines.

Fetal growth discordance is a relatively common complication of monochorionic diamniotic (MCDA) twin pregnancies and is caused by a combination of maternal and placental factors. The aim of the study was to survey placental gene expression patterns and identify genes associated with growth discordance. Clinical samples comprised eight growth-discordant MCDA twin placentas (31+3-34+4 weeks gestational age) and six growth-concordant twin placentas (31+2-37 weeks gestational age). Gene expression libraries were constructed from placental biopsy samples and analyzed by RNA-sequencing. The distribution and relative abundance of mRNA transcripts expressed in the smaller and larger placentas from growth-discordant and concordant MCDA twins was remarkably similar. However, leptin (LEP) and age-related maculopathy susceptibility 2 (ARMS2) mRNA levels were exclusively up-regulated in all of the eight smaller growth-discordant twin placentas. Quantitative real-time PCR of independent biopsy samples confirmed the levels of differential mRNA expression for both genes. Immunohistochemical analysis of tissue sections from matching twin placentas showed increased leptin expression in 5-10% of blood vessel cells of the smaller placenta and marginally higher levels of ARMS2 expression in the microvillous membrane of the smaller placenta. Based on these findings, we speculate that up-regulation of leptin and ARMS2 forms part of an important survival mechanism to compensate for placental growth discordance. Since, leptin and ARMS2 are both expressed as soluble proteins, they may have clinical potential as measurable biomarkers for predicting the onset of growth discordance in MCDA twin pregnancies.

BACKGROUND: Immune regulation is crucial for the pathogenesis of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). It has been reported that Th17 cells as a newly identified subset of CD4(+) T cells are involved in the pathogenesis of several hematological disorders. However, the role of Th17 cells in the pathophysiology of B-ALL is still unclear. METHODS: The frequencies of T cells were determined by flow cytometry in the peripheral blood and bone marrow of 44 newly diagnosed B-ALL patients and 25 age-matched healthy donors. The cell viability and apoptosis were determined by CCK-8 assay and Annexin V staining, respectively. Western blot was applied to identify the level of Akt and Stat3 phosphorylation. RESULTS: We assessed and observed a significantly increased frequency of Th17 cells and a drastically decreased frequency of Th1 cells in peripheral blood mononuclear cells and bone marrow mononuclear cells from newly diagnosed B-ALL patients compared with healthy donors. Furthermore, increased levels of Th17-related cytokines including IL-17, IL-21, IL-23, IL-1ß, and IL-6 were presented in between blood and marrow in B-ALL patients. Both IL-17A and IL-21, two Th17-secreted cytokines, induced the proliferation of B-ALL cell line Nalm-6 and patient B-ALL cells isolated from B-ALL patients, herein either cytokine led to the phosphorylation of Akt and Stat3. Additionally, IL-17A promoted resistance to daunorubicin via activation of Akt signaling and the PI3K/Akt inhibitor LY294002 or perifosine almost completely rescued daunorubicin-induced cell death in B-ALL cells. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that elevated Th17 cells secrete IL-17A by which promotes the proliferation and resistance to daunorubicin in B-ALL cells through activation of Akt signaling. Th17 cells may represent a novel target to improve B-ALL immunotherapy.

STUDY QUESTION: Is it necessary to collect more than one semen sample from each individual in epidemiological studies? SUMMARY ANSWER: Single semen samples can be used in model construction as long as the model adjusts for major relevant covariates. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY: If a series of semen samples are taken from one individual at different times, significant intra-individual variation may exist. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION: A population-based cross-sectional study was conducted from 1 December 2000 to 20 November 2002. A total of 1010 volunteers, aged between 20 and 60 years old, were recruited. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS: A total of 998 subjects were included for statistical analysis. Of these, 332 men provided single semen samples (group 1) and 666 men provided two samples (group 2). Semen parameters, including semen volume, sperm concentration, total sperm number, progressive motility, vitality, and sperm morphology, were analyzed with standardized methods according to the World Health Organization (WHO) laboratory manual for the examination of human semen and sperm-cervical mucus interaction (3rd edition). MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE: Rapidly progressive motility of semen from group 1 was lower than that of group 2, but other parameters were not significantly different. The differences in mean values between the double samples were small on all semen parameters. The correlations between the two ejaculates were high, but the agreements were poor except for sperm vitality and normal morphology. Model selection and validation analysis supported the premise that the regression model from the first samples was applicable for the second samples. The large sample size with extensive quality control provides robust parameter estimation and promises good applicability for model selection and validation. LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION: The results are valid for healthy men in China, not for subfertile or infertile men. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS: The overall semen quality of a given group of healthy men will not vary significantly in the short term. Single semen samples can be used in model building as long as major relevant covariates are considered. Utilizing multiple semen donations may actually cause the samples to be less representative. Cadmium (Cd) is a heavy metal with toxicant to reproductive functions. The aim of this study was to explore the effects of environmental exposure to Cd on human semen quality. A total of 587 men from the general population, aged from 20 to 59 years old, and without occupational exposure to Cd were recruited from three provinces in China to participate in the study. The median of serum Cd was 1.9 µg/L (P25-P75:1.1-2.9). In case Cd was less than or equal to 6.3 µg/L (P95) and the semen parameters were logarithmically transformed, the inverse associations between Cd and semen volume (-0.03 ± 0.007), progressive motility (-0.01 ± 0.004), and sperm morphology (-0.04 ± 0.004) were found across the whole group, after adjusting for age group, occupation, season of semen sample collection, abstinence intervals, smoking, alcohol drinking, and body mass index. Our findings indicate that higher Cd may reduce the semen volume, progressive motility, and morphology among men without occupational exposure to Cd.
