RESUMEN

Dengue virus (DENV) infection can induce life-threatening dengue hemorrhagic fever/dengue shock syndrome in infected patients. DENV is a threat to global health due to its growing numbers and incidence of infection in the last 50 years. During infection, DENV expresses ten structural and nonstructural proteins modulating cell responses to benefit viral replication. However, the lack of knowledge regarding the cellular proteins and their functions in enhancing DENV pathogenesis impedes the development of antiviral drugs and therapies against fatal DENV infection. Here, we identified that integrin-linked kinase (ILK) is a novel enhancing factor for DENV infection by suppressing type I interferon (IFN) responses. Mechanistically, ILK binds DENV NS1 and NS3, activates Akt and Erk, and induces NF-κB-driven suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3) expression. Elevated SOCS3 in DENV-infected cells inhibits phosphorylation of STAT1/2 and expression of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs). Inhibiting ILK, Akt, or Erk activation abrogates SOCS3 expression. In DENV-infected mice, the treatment of an ILK inhibitor significantly reduces viral loads in the brains, disease severity, and mortality rate. Collectively, our results show that ILK is a potential therapeutic target against DENV infection.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Hepatic inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (HIMT) is a rare type of hepatic tumor. It is always misdiagnosed and mistreated because it is primarily found with no obvious specific manifestation, and its imaging findings are diverse. CASE SUMMARY: Here, we report a case of HIMT that was initially diagnosed as liver malignancy but was confirmed as HIMT by histopathology after hepatectomy. Mostly, HIMTs are infiltrated with plasma cells and stain positively for anaplastic lymphoma kinase on immunohistochemistry as well as for some other kinases. CONCLUSION: HIMT can be treated with single nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and without surgery when it is diagnosed accurately. Because the etiology of HIMT is unknown and the diagnosis is difficult, the pathogenesis and clinical process need to be further studied.

RESUMEN

Micro-arc oxidation (MAO) coating with outstanding adhesion strength to Mg alloys has attracted more and more attention. However, owing to the porous structure, aggressive ions easily invaded the MAO/substrate interface through the through pores, limiting long-term corrosion resistance. Therefore, a dense and biocompatible tantalum oxide (Ta2O5) nanofilm was deposited on MAO coated Mg alloy AZ31 through atomic layer deposition (ALD) technique to seal the micropores and regulate the degradation rate. Surface micrography, chemical compositions and crystallographic structure were characterized using FE-SEM, EDS, XPS and XRD. The corrosion resistance of all samples was evaluated through electrochemical and hydrogen evolution tests. Results revealed that the Ta2O5 film mainly existed in the form of amorphousness. Moreover, uniform deposition of Ta2O5 film and effective sealing of micropores and microcracks in MAO coating were achieved. The current density (i corr) of the composite coating decreased three orders of magnitude than that of the substrate and MAO coating, improving corrosion resistance. Besides, the formation and corrosion resistance mechanisms of the composite coating were proposed.

RESUMEN

Objective@#To explore the effect of puberty on refractive development of children and adolescents and its interaction with outdoor activities, near work and the use of electronic products, so as to provide a reference for strategies for intervening myopia.@*Methods@#Cluster sampling method was used to select 776 students aged 7-13 from a nine year consistent school in Shanghai to participate and were followed up for 2 years. All participants underwent cycloplegic refraction and ocular axial length measurement once a year, as well as pubertal development, average daily outdoor time, near work time and time of electronic products usage. The influencing factors and interaction effects of refractive parameters in different puberty stages were analyzed by generalized estimation equation.@*Results@#At baseline, 634 children participated in cycloplegic refraction, of which 350 were myopic (55.2%). There were significant differences in axial length, average daily outdoor time, near work time and time of using electronic products at different stages of puberty ( F = 4.10 ,4.24,5.54,9.20, P <0.05). There was interaction between puberty and outdoor time on axial length development ( β =0.133, P < 0.05), and the interaction between puberty and the time of near work or using electronic products was not statistically significant ( P >0.05).@*Conclusion@#Puberty may play a regulatory role in the relationship between outdoor time and refractive development among Chinese children and adolescents.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the seroprevalence of HEV infection in human population, swine and chicken in Beijing region. METHODS: EIA was used for detecting anti-HEV IgG of the serum samples. All samples were collected in 2006-2007 in Beijing areas. RESULTS: The anti-HEV IgG was detected positive in 21.52% of human (260/1208), 46.88 % (15/32) of swine, but was negative in chickens (0/24). The positive rate of human at different age group, was 5.60% (14/250) of 11-20 year, 20% (42/210) of 21-30 year, 24.03% (62/258) of 31-40 year, 26.44% (78/295) of 41-50 year, 32.82% (64/195) of 51-60 year. The male (29.51%) was higher than the female (21.70%). CONCLUSION: The HEV infection was correlation with age and sex significantly. The infection rate was increased with age, the positive rate in swine was more double than the human population.
