ABSTRACT

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia. Aberrant regulation of microRNAs (miRNAs) has been implicated in the pathogenesis of AD. In a large case-control study recruiting 208 patients with AD and 205 elderly control subjects, miRNA-let-7d-5p attracted our attention for its downregulated level in patients with AD. However, the biological functions of let-7d-5p in AD pathogenesis have not been investigated. This study emphasized the functions and mechanisms of let-7d-5p in the pathogenesis of AD. Mouse microglial BV2 cells treated with amyloid-ß (Aß)1-42 were used as in vitro AD inflammation models. We reported that let-7d-5p was downregulated in Aß1-42-stimulated BV2 cells, and upregulation of let-7d-5p promoted the transversion of microglial cells from Ml phenotype to M2 phenotype. Then, the binding relationship between let-7d-5p and Map3k1 was verified by luciferase reporter assays. Mechanistically, let-7d-5p could target Map3k1 3'UTR to inactivate ERK/p38 MAPK signaling. Therefore, it was suggested that let-7d-5p might be a novel modulator of microglial neuroinflammation and serve as a novel target for diagnosis and treatment of AD.

ABSTRACT

Artificial photosynthesis of fuels has garnered significant attention, with SrTiO3 emerging as a potential candidate for photocatalysis due to its exceptional physicochemical properties. However, selectively converting CO2 into fuels with desired reaction products remains a grand challenge. Herein, we design an updated method via an aging strategy based on the electrospinning technique to synthesize a single-crystalline Al-doped SrTiO3 nanotubular networks with self-assembled orderly mesopores, further modified by Cu-Pd alloy. It exhibits both high crystallinity and superior cross-linked mesoporous structures, effectively facilitating charge carrier transfer, photon utilization, and mass transfer, with a remarkable enhancement from 0.025 mmol·h-1·m-2 to 1.090 mmol·h-1·m-2 in the CO production rate. Meanwhile, the ordered arrangement of Cu and Pd atoms on the (111) surface can promote the rate-determining step (*CO2 to *COOH), which is also responsible for its good activity. The presence of CuO in the reaction confers a significant advantage for CO desorption, leading to a remarkable CO selectivity of 95.54%. This work highlights new insights into developing advanced heterogeneous photocatalysts.

ABSTRACT

Ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 2 (RAC2) is a small guanine nucleotide binding molecule that is exclusively expressed in hematopoietic cell lineages as a switcher. Based on in vivo and/or in vitro model experiments, RAC2 plays important roles in different cells through proliferation, secretion, and phagocytosis. It also performs a suppressing function in immunoglobulin (Ig) switching in Rac2-/- animals or cells. Several RAC2 natural mutations have been described in patients with primary immunodeficiency. RAC2 mutations can be classified into loss-of-function inactivating (LoF-I) and gain-of-function activating mutations according to their functional effects. Only two LoF-I mutations on RAC2 have been reported, including a dominant D57N mutation in several cases that exhibit granulocyte function defects and a recessive D56X mutation in cases with common variable immunodeficiency. Regardless of the type of mutation, most of the reported RAC2 mutant cases have shown reduced IgG, IgA, and IgM levels. Herein, we report on a family with three members that suffer from persistent HPV infection, recurrent respiratory infections, bronchiectasis, and autoimmune disease. The immunologic profile suggests that the family was affected by combined immunodeficiency (CID) with increased serum levels of IgG, IgA, and IgE. Exome sequencing identified a de novo RAC2 mutation (c.44G > A/p.G15D) that was co-segregated with the disease in the family. Gene functional experiments identified that such mutation results in reduced guanosine triphosphate binding activity and RAC2 protein expression. In patients' lymphocytes, impaired aggregation and proliferation effects, decreased mitochondrial membrane potential, and increased levels of cell apoptosis were observed, although no functional abnormalities were detected in neutrophils. To our knowledge, this study was the first to identify a LoF-I mutation of RAC2 affecting lymphocyte function that consequently led to CID and increased levels of serum IgG, IgE, and IgA. This study presents a novel subtype of RAC2-related immune disorder.

ABSTRACT

This paper presents a nitrogen dioxide detection device based on gas absorption spectroscopy by connecting two integrating spheres as a gas cell, observing the feasibility of the tandem integrating spheres as a gas cell, and taking a single integrating sphere as a gas cell for comparison experiments. Theoretical knowledge of the effective path length of tandem integrating spheres was established, and the theoretical derivation was further verified by experiments investigating the relationship between absorbance and gas concentration. This work makes it possible to develop a gas sensor that can reduce the volume of the gas cell and keep the effective optical path length unreduced.

ABSTRACT

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: To explore fluctuations in perinatal depression based on physiological, psychological and interpersonal dimensions to analyse risk factors across three time points: in the third trimester and at weeks 1 and 6 postpartum. BACKGROUND: Pregnant women experience depression at multiple time points and require screening. Studies have shown protective and negative factors related to postpartum depression. Cognitive fusion refers to an individual's emotions and behaviours that are regulated and influenced by that individual's own cognitive overregulation, especially when facing stress. This is an important psychological factor related to depression, but little is known about it in pregnant women. DESIGN: A longitudinal study was conducted from June 2019-July 2020, and the findings are reported following the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) guidelines. METHODS: Pregnant women (n = 207) were recruited, and a questionnaire survey was performed at 32-34 weeks of pregnancy and at weeks 1 and 6 postpartum. Repeated-measures analysis of variance was performed to analyse the changes in depression over time. Regression analysis and linear mixed modelling were used to identify risk factors. Pearson's correlation analysis was performed to analyse the relationships between variables. RESULTS: Of the pregnant women, 36.70% experienced antenatal depression and prolonged depression with the onset of postpartum depression (12.21%). Some depressive moods disappeared spontaneously after delivery (47.37%). Perceived stress was the highest risk predictor of postpartum depression (ß = 0.332), followed by cognitive fusion (ß = 0.178), which remained stable over time and might have been positively related to having a vulnerable personality (0.2 < r < 0.4). Social support plays a positive role in lowering postpartum depression (ß = -0.027). CONCLUSIONS: Changes in depression were influenced by multiple factors with stability and predictability across time. Psychological dimensions, such as perceived stress and cognitive fusion, are risk factors for developing postpartum depression and antenatal depression. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE: Pregnant women can be divided into depressive cohorts according to screening at different time points to provide targeted interventions.

ABSTRACT

We report herein the influence of skeletal connectivity on the conformation-dependent optical properties of cyclosilane homo- and copolymers. 1,3-Linked cyclosilanes were bathochromically shifted by 20 nm in solution relative to 1,4-linked cyclosilanes, an effect reproduced by quantum chemical calculations on oligomeric model systems. Polysilane optical properties are conformation-dependent, and 1,3-linked cyclosilanes were hypothesized to adopt a favorable conformation unavailable to 1,4-linked cyclosilanes constrained to an endocyclic gauche conformation. Copolymerization of the isomeric cyclosilanes 1,3Si6 and 1,4Si6 afforded linear statistical copolymers, as characterized by 1H and 29Si NMR spectroscopies. The distinct connectivity of each comonomer was found to give rise to tunable absorption spectra, where the position of the absorption band systematically increased with the increased corporation of 1,3Si6. Computational studies pointed to conformation-dependent changes in orbital symmetry in shifting the most intense transition from the low-energy highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) → lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) transition to a higher-energy HOMO → LUMO + n transition. The results of these studies demonstrate for the first time the role of silicon skeletal connectivity in controlling conformation and optoelectronic properties and provide new insight into the structure-based design of solution-processable silicon-based polymeric materials.

ABSTRACT

Colloidal quantum dots (QDs) are promising luminescent materials for display and lighting, but their stability has long been an issue. Here, we designed a passivation strategy of doping Ti ions into the shell of alloyed CdZnSeS@ZnS QDs. The results showed that Ti ions were successfully doped into the ZnS shell and the stability of QDs was improved. In the aging test, the Ti ions doped QDs maintained 51.4% of the initial performance after 90 h of aging, while the pristine QDs decreased to less than 25% of the initial value. In addition, we discuss the reasons why Ti ions doping improves the stability of QDs. Ti ions are found to form Ti-S bonds in the ZnS shell, which has high binding energy and strong oxidation resistance. Most importantly, since there is no external physical insulating coating, the optimized QDs can also be directly used in electroluminescent devices, showing great potential in electroluminescence applications.

ABSTRACT

Based on the acid-base neutralization, the (1-methylimidazolium)(tetrazol-1-yl)borane was successfully synthesized by taking advantage of the acidity of the tetrazole and the basicity of the 1-methylimidazole borane complex. Through HRMS, NMR, and FT-IR, the structure of synthetic compounds was characterized in detail. Concerning about the (1-methylimidazolium)(tetrazol-1-yl)borane, it had an ignition-delay time of about 25 ms and a density specific impulse over 351 s·g/cm3, making it a suitable candidate for green hypergolic fuels. Moreover, it also demonstrated that introducing tetrazole into the borane could be an appropriate strategy to adjust the performance of the energy of those borane compounds.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: People with psychosis report experiences of highly traumatic events. Positive change or post-traumatic growth (PTG) can occur as a result of traumatic experiences. Yet there is limited attention on PTG in psychosis, possibly due to the negative impact of psychotic symptoms on functioning and quality of life. The aim of this review was to identify significant correlates and mediators of PTG in psychosis, and to develop a conceptual framework synthesising facilitators of PTG in psychosis. METHOD: Ten electronic databases were searched in seven languages, and five journals and grey literature were searched in English. Quantitative studies were eligible if examining correlates, mediators, or the temporal relationship between PTG and one or more variables. Qualitative studies were eligible if describing PTG arising from experiences of psychosis. Findings from quantitative papers were grouped by analysis method, with significant correlates, mediators, and temporal relationships descriptively reported upon. Narrative synthesis was conducted on findings in qualitative papers. RESULTS: Thirty-seven papers were included. Significant correlates and mediators of PTG were identified. Mediators of PTG in psychosis included meaning in life, coping self-efficacy, core beliefs, and self-reported recovery. No studies describing the temporal relationship between PTG and psychosis were identified. The narrative synthesis identified seven facilitators of PTG in psychosis: Personal identity and strength, Receiving support, Opportunities and possibilities, Strategies for coping, Perspective shift, Emotional experience, and Relationships, giving the acronym PROSPER. CONCLUSIONS: Individuals with psychosis can be supported to grow from traumatic experiences. Clinicians can support PTG through the provision of trauma-informed care that supports positively valued identity changes. For researchers, the findings provide an evidence-based theoretical framework for conceptualising PTG, which can be validated through longitudinal cohort studies and underpin the development of new clinical interventions.

ABSTRACT

MOTIVATION: With the abundant medical resources, especially literature available online, it is possible for people to understand their own health status and relevant problems autonomously. However, how to obtain the most appropriate answer from the increasingly large-scale database, remains a great challenge. Here, we present a biomedical question answering framework and implement a system, Health Assistant, to enable the search process. METHODS: In Health Assistant, a search engine is firstly designed to rank biomedical documents based on contents. Then various query processing and search techniques are utilized to find the relevant documents. Afterwards, the titles and abstracts of top-N documents are extracted to generate candidate snippets. Finally, our own designed query processing and retrieval approaches for short text are applied to locate the relevant snippets to answer the questions. RESULTS: Our system is evaluated on the BioASQ benchmark datasets, and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of our system, compared to BioASQ participant systems and some state-of-the-art methods on both document retrieval and snippet retrieval tasks. ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most prevalent type of arthritis, which commonly involves inflammation in the articular cartilage in OA pathogenesis. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play essential roles in the regulation and pathophysiology of various diseases including OA. MiR-410-3p has been demonstrated to mediate inflammatory pathways, however, the regulatory functions of miR-410-3p in OA remain largely unknown. METHODS: The regulations of miR-410-3p were investigated in OA. Mouse primary chondrocytes and mouse in vivo models were used. The expression levels of miR-410-3p and HMGB1 were measured by qPCR. The transcription activity of NF-κB was assessed by luciferase reporter assay. MTT assay was performed to assess cellular proliferation. Cell apoptosis was evaluated with the Fluorescein Isothiocyanate (FITC) Annexin V assay. Expression levels of proteins were determined by Western blot. RESULTS: The results demonstrated that miR-410-3p was markedly downregulated in articular cartilage tissues as well as in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated chondrocytes in OA mice. In addition, upregulation of miR-410-3p markedly inhibited LPS-induced apoptosis of chondrocytes. The results also demonstrated that the high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) was a target of miR-410-3p. LPS-induced upregulated expression of HMGB1 significantly suppressed expression of miR-410-3p. Furthermore, upregulation of miR-410-3p markedly inhibited HMGB1 expression, the nuclear factor (NF)-kB activity and pro-inflammatory cytokines production. Taken together, the results suggested that miR-410-3p targeted HMGB1 and modulated chondrocytes apoptosis and inflammation through the NF-κB signaling pathway. CONCLUSIONS: These findings provide insights into the potential of miR-410-3p/ HMGB1 as therapeutic targets for OA treatment.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: To explore the relationship between personality traits, caring characteristics and abuse tendency among professional caregivers of older people with dementia in long-term care facilities in China. BACKGROUND: Elder abuse is a serious global health problem and human right violation with high incidence among older people with dementia. There are many investigations about impact factors of risk of abuse among family caregivers of older people with dementia. However, in long-term care facilities, the situation of abuse tendency needs further investigation. DESIGN: Cross-sectional study. METHODS: An observational survey was conducted according to the STROBE checklist. We investigated 156 professional caregivers of older people with dementia in three long-term care facilities in Guangzhou, China. Participants completed a demographic questionnaire, the Caregiver Abuse Screen (CASE) and the Neuroticism Extraversion Openness Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI). Data were analysed using Mann-Whitney U tests, Kruskal-Wallis tests, Spearman's rank correlation and logistic regression analyses. RESULTS: Over half of the participants (51.9%) reported abuse tendency to the older people with dementia. There was a significant negative correlation between the caregivers' agreeableness scores of NEO-FFI and their CASE scores. Multivariate logistic regression analyses highlighted that protective factors of abuse tendency were caregivers' agreeableness, care recipients' source of finances and their duration of dementia while higher care difficulty and presence of older people's behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) were the risk factors. CONCLUSION: Caregivers' agreeableness personality trait and the caring characteristics of older people with dementia may be relevant to abuse tendency in long-term care facilities. Further study with a larger sample size is needed to validate such a correlation. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE: Older people with dementia are at high risk for abuse. Prospective caregivers could pay more attention to developing their own agreeableness. The managers might establish monitoring system for reducing the abuse.

ABSTRACT

Perovskite nanocrystals (PeNCs) are attractive in high-color gamut display technology as light converters which can achieve saturated green and red lights, respectively. However, PeNCs are intrinsically fragile against ambient conditions, such as moisture and oxygen and it is hard to maintain their performance in long-term operation. In this work, a new hierarchical encapsulation method is proposed, integrated with surface modification by halide ions protection, nano-scaled encapsulation by in situ capping SiO2 and embedding into poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) matrix composites, to achieve a stable perovskite light converting composite sheet for LED remote-type encapsulation. The storage stability, as well as the operational stability of perovskite composites, were confirmed by the spectra evolution from encapsulated LEDs with normalized blue emission intensity. The 2D maps of spectra and aging measurement indicate that the silica encapsulation can well protect the PeNCs in the PMMA matrix from the ambient circumstance during a long-term storage process. Additionally, the hierarchical encapsulation for PeNCs/silica/PMMA showed better operational stability than the direct encapsulation of PeNCs/PMMA, and the correspondent Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage color coordinates tracking also indicated more stable color properties, which demonstrates the great potential in photoluminescent display applications.

OBJECTIVE: Functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) are diagnosed by the presence of a characteristic set of symptoms. However, the current criteria-based diagnostic approach is to some extent subjective and largely derived from observations in English-speaking Western patients. We aimed to identify latent symptom clusters in Asian patients with FGID. DESIGN: 1805 consecutive unselected patients with FGID who presented for primary or secondary care to 11 centres across Asia completed a cultural and linguistic adaptation of the Rome III Diagnostic Questionnaire that was translated to the local languages. Principal components factor analysis with varimax rotation was used to identify symptom clusters. RESULTS: Nine symptom clusters were identified, consisting of two oesophageal factors (F6: globus, odynophagia and dysphagia; F9: chest pain and heartburn), two gastroduodenal factors (F5: bloating, fullness, belching and flatulence; F8 regurgitation, nausea and vomiting), three bowel factors (F2: abdominal pain and diarrhoea; F3: meal-related bowel symptoms; F7: upper abdominal pain and constipation) and two anorectal factors (F1: anorectal pain and constipation; F4: diarrhoea, urgency and incontinence). CONCLUSION: We found that the broad categorisation used both in clinical practice and in the Rome system, that is, broad anatomical divisions, and certain diagnoses with long historical records, that is, IBS with diarrhoea, and chronic constipation, are still valid in our Asian societies. In addition, we found a bowel symptom cluster with meal trigger and a gas cluster that suggests a different emphasis in our populations. Future studies to compare a non-Asian cohort and to match to putative pathophysiology will help to verify our findings.

During clonorchiasis, immune responses of hosts are responsible for the removal of the worms and also are involved in the progress of the pathological damage caused by Clonorchis sinensis. Interleukin-33 (IL-33), a recently described cytokine signaling through the ST2 receptor, has emerged as a potent inducer to bile duct proliferation and fibrosis; however, little is known of this signaling in the pathogen-caused periductal inflammation and fibrosis. In the present study, using immunohistochemistry, real-time PCR, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and flow cytometry, we studied the expression of IL-33/ST2 during C. sinensis infection, as well as their potential roles in C. sinensis-induced host immune responses. The results showed that a higher level of IL-33 was detected in the sera of patients of clonorchiasis (n = 45), compared with in those of healthy donors (n = 16). Similarly, in FVB mice experimentally infected with C. sinensis, a higher level of IL-33 was detected at latent stage both in the serum and in the liver, as well as the up-regulated expression of ST2 receptor on the inflammatory cells, especially on CD4(+) T cells in the liver of infected mice. Our results, for the first time, indicated that the increased IL-33/ST2 may be involved in the regulation of immunopathology induced by C. sinensis.

To investigate anti-arthritic effects of matrine isolated from the roots of S. flavescens on type II collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) in rats and to explore its related potential mechanisms, CIA rats were established and administered with matrine (20, 40 or 80 mg/kg/days, for 30 days). Subsequently, blood was collected to determine serum levels of TNF-α, IL-1ß, IL-6, IL-8, IL-17A, IL-10, MMP-2, MMP-3 and MMP-9, and hind paws and knee joints were collected for histopathological examination. Furthermore, indices of the thymus and spleen were determined, and synovial tissues were collected to determine the protein expressions of p-IκB, IκB, Cox-2 and iNOS. Our results indicated that matrine significantly suppressed inflammatory reactions and synovial tissue destruction. Matrine inhibited paw swelling, arthritis indices and weight loss in CIA rats. Additionally, matrine decreased the levels of TNF-α, IL-1ß, IL-6, IL-8, IL-17A, MMP-2, MMP-3 and MMP-9. Matrine also down-regulated expressions of p-IκB, Cox-2, and iNOS but up-regulated IκB in synovial tissues in CIA rats. The results suggested matrine possesses an anti-arthritic effect in CIA rats via inhibiting the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines and proteins that promote the NF-κB pathway.

ABSTRACT

CONTEXT: Veronicastrum axillare (Sieb. et Zucc.) Yamazaki (Scrophulariaceae) embraces varieties of bioactivities such as anti-inflammatory, anti-pyresis and detoxification activity, while little is known of the phytochemical components of this medicinal plant. OBJECTIVE: To isolate and identify bioactive constituents from the whole herb of V. axillare. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Ethanol extract of the whole herb of V. axillare was subjected to successive column chromatography. Chemical structures of the compounds were elucidated by detailed spectroscopic analyses on the basis of NMR, IR and HR-MS data. RESULTS: A new monoterpenoid, axillacetal A (1) and a known analogue, tarumal (2), were isolated from the whole herb of V. axillare. The structure of tarumal (2) was also revised according to our NMR data. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: This is the first report on the isolation and authentication of novel chemical constituents from V. axillare.

ABSTRACT

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a multifactorial sleep disorder with a high prevalence in the general population. OSA is associated with an increased risk of developing cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), particularly hypertension, and is linked to worse outcomes. Although the correlation between OSA and CVDs is firmly established, the mechanisms are poorly understood. Continuous positive airway pressure is primary treatment for OSA reducing cardiovascular risk effectively, while is limited by inadequate compliance. Moreover, alternative treatments for cardiovascular complications in OSA are currently not available. Recently, there has been considerable attention on the significant correlation between gut microbiome and pathophysiological changes in OSA. Furthermore, gut microbiome has a significant impact on the cardiovascular complications that arise from OSA. Nevertheless, a detailed understanding of this association is lacking. This review examines recent advancements to clarify the link between the gut microbiome, OSA, and OSA-related CVDs, with a specific focus on hypertension, and also explores potential health advantages of adjuvant therapy that targets the gut microbiome in OSA.

Osteoporotic fractures represent the most severe complications of osteoporosis,characterized by insidious onset,high mortality and disability rates,and a steadily increasing incidence,imposing a significant socioeconomic burden. Western medicine has advantages in diagnosis and surgical interventions,while traditional Chinese medicine excels in holistic management and the restoration of bodily equilibrium. The integration of both traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and western medicine emerges as an effective therapeutic strategy for osteoporotic fractures. In order to propagate the concept of integrated diagnosis and treatment,foster the advancement of integrated medical techniques for osteoporotic fractures,and establish standardized and normative protocols for disease prevention,diagnosis,and treatment,a consensus expert group,led by Geriatric Branch of Chinese Geriatrics Society,the Young Osteoporosis Group of Orthopedics Branch of Chinese Medical Association,Osteoporosis Group of Orthopedics Branch of Chinese Physician Association,and Osteoporosis Professional Committee of the Shanghai Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine,was established. This group engaged in deliberations and formulated the "Expert Consensus on Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Diagnosis and Treatment of Osteoporotic Fractures" elucidating the concept of integrated medicine and offering recommendations in the domains of prevention,diagnosis,and treatment,with the aspiration of ameliorating the prognosis of osteoporotic fractures and enhancing the quality of life for these patients.

TRIAL REGISTRATION: This study was registered with the German Clinical Trials Register - Deutschen Register Klinischer Studien (DRKS) on 23 December 2018. The Trial Registration Number (TRN) is DRKS00016506. LAY ABSTRACT: The Transporters App is an intervention programme with 15 animated episodes that teach emotion recognition skills to autistic children between 4 and 6 years of age. Each episode contains a story depicting social interactions between characters in the form of a vehicle, with human faces grafted on to each of them. Each episode teaches a specific emotion in a story context. Autistic children watched at least three episodes at home for about 15 min daily for a month, with parental guidance. Its automated, home-based format is cost-saving and readily accessible. This study translated The Transporters to a Cantonese-Chinese version. Results showed a significant improvement in emotion recognition following viewing The Transporters in a group of Hong Kong Chinese autistic children, between 4 and 6 years of age, with and without attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (n = 48) relative to a control group (n = 24). A non-autistic group (n = 23) showed that the autistic children scored lower in emotion recognition pre-intervention. Post-intervention, the autistic children had improved in emotion recognition to the level of the non-autistic children. The autistic children in the intervention groups also generalized their learning to novel situations/characters not taught within The Transporters. There was no dosage effect, with the standard recommended number of episodes viewed being sufficient to achieve significant improvement. This study confirms the effectiveness of The Transporters for Chinese autistic children and contributes to the literature/practice by expanding the range of applicability of The Transporters to autistic children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, which is important given the high rate of co-occurrence between autism and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
