ABSTRACT

Eight-and-a-half syndrome, a combination of one-and-a-half syndrome and ipsilateral facial palsy, was first described by Eggenberger in 1998. Intracranial capillary telangiectasia (ICT) is a rare type of latent cerebral vascular malformation characterized by a number of small, dilated, and thin-walled blood capillaries with normal brain tissues between them. Susceptibility weighted imaging is the recommended diagnostic method to detect ICT. Oommen once reported 1 case about pontine hemorrhage causing Fisher one-and-a-half syndrome with facial paralysis. Here, we report a case with regard to pontine tegmentum ICT and hematencephalon presenting as eight-and-a-half syndrome.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to examine the specific allele combinations of three loci connected with the liver cancers, stomach cancers, hematencephalon and patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and to explore the feasibility of the research methods. We explored different mathematical methods for statistical analyses to assess the association between the genotype and phenotype. At the same time we still analyses the statistical results of allele combinations of three loci by difference value method and ratio method. All the DNA blood samples were collected from patients with 50 liver cancers, 75 stomach cancers, 50 hematencephalon, 72 COPD and 200 normal populations. All the samples were from Chinese. Alleles from short tandem repeat (STR) loci were determined using the STR Profiler plus PCR amplification kit (15 STR loci). Previous research was based on combinations of single-locus alleles, and combinations of cross-loci (two loci) alleles. Allele combinations of three loci were obtained by computer counting and stronger genetic signal was obtained. The methods of allele combinations of three loci can help to identify the statistically significant differences of allele combinations between liver cancers, stomach cancers, patients with hematencephalon, COPD and the normal population. The probability of illness followed different rules and had apparent specificity. This method can be extended to other diseases and provide reference for early clinical diagnosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To observe the effects of new Qingkailing injection on the toxic substances accumulation post-hematencephalon.Methods: Using VII-type collagenase inducing rat hematencephalon,the contents of TNF-?,IL-1? and sICAM-1 of brain homogenate were detected by ELISA;the contents of SOD and MDA were determined separately by xanthine oxidase method and thio-barbituric acid method; brain water content was detected by dry-wet weight method;serum NSE content was determined by liquid phase competition method.Results: Inflammatory reaction was fierce 48 h after hematencephalon in rat,and that new Qingkailing injection could effectually lower the contents of the inflammatory factors,MDA,brain water content and NSE,and could heighten the content of SOD.Conclusion: New Qingkailing injection has favorable heat-clearing and detoxicating effects on the pathologic state of flourishing toxic heat post-hematencephalon.
