OBJECTIVES: Observational studies have linked rheumatoid arthritis and frailty, but confounding factors and reverse causality make it unclear if there is a causal relationship. The current study used bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomisation (MR) to assess the bidirectional causation between rheumatoid arthritis and frailty. METHODS: The primary analysis used the latest GWAS data for rheumatoid arthritis and frailty index in pure Europeans from large genome-wide association studies. Validation analysis was done to verify the accuracy of the results. The appropriate instrumental variables (IVs) were selected based on the three MR assumptions. The MR methods used were MR-Egger, weighted median (WM), and inverse variance weighted (IVW). The effects of horizontal pleiotropy were examined using the MR-Egger intercept and the MR-PRESSO method. To avoid single SNP bias, a leave-one-out analysis was performed. RESULTS: Genetic predictions suggested that there is a significant association between rheumatoid arthritis and the increased prevalence of frailty (IVW OR=1.01; 95% CI=[1.01-1.02], p=2.47 E-06). It has been verified in validation analysis that rheumatoid arthritis is also associated with frailty (IVW OR=1.03, 95% CI=[1.02-1.04], p=3.30E-17). Notably, genetic predictions suggested that frailty may be associated with the onset or development of rheumatoid arthritis (IVW ß=1.25, SE=0.44, 95% CI=[0.39-2.12], p=4.58E-03). CONCLUSIONS: The present study provides evidence supporting the fact that rheumatoid arthritis can increase the prevalence of frailty. Frailty may be a risk factor for rheumatoid arthritis, and whether frailty is involved in triggering the onset or progression of rheumatoid arthritis needs further study.

The immune system of bony fish closely resembles that of mammals, comprising both specific (adaptive) and non-specific (innate) components. Notably, the mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) serves as the first line of defense within the non-specific immune system, playing a critical role in protecting these aquatic organisms against invading pathogens. MALT encompasses a network of immune cells strategically distributed throughout the gills and intestines, forming an integral part of the mucosal barrier that interfaces directly with the surrounding aquatic environment. Spring Viremia of Carp Virus(SVCV), a highly pathogenic agent causing substantial harm to common carp populations, has been designated as a Class 2 animal disease by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China. Utilizing a comprehensive array of research techniques, including Hematoxylin and Eosin (HE)、Alcian Blue Periodic Acid-Schiff (AB-PAS)、transcriptome analysis for global gene expression profiling and Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-qPCR), this study uncovered several key findings: SVCV is capable of compromising the mucosal architecture in the gill and intestinal tissues of carp, and stimulate the proliferation of mucous cells both in gill and intestinal tissues. Critically, the study revealed that SVCV's invasion elicits a robust response from the carp's mucosal immune system, demonstrating the organism's capacity to resist SVCV invasion despite the challenges posed by the pathogen.

Nanoscale zerovalent iron synthesized using borohydride (B-NZVI) has been widely applied in environmental remediation in recent decades. However, the contribution of boron in enhancing the inherent reactivity of B-NZVI and its effectiveness in removing hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] have not been well recognized and quantified. To the best of our knowledge, herein, a core-shell structure of B-NZVI featuring an Fe-B alloy shell beneath the iron oxide shell is demonstrated for the first time. Alloyed boron can reduce H+, contributing to more than 35.6% of H2 generation during acid digestion of B-NZVIs. In addition, alloyed B provides electrons for Fe3+ reduction during Cr(VI) removal, preventing in situ passivation of the reactive particle surface. Meanwhile, the amorphous oxide shell of B-NZVI exhibits an increased defect density, promoting the release of Fe2+ outside the shell to reduce Cr(VI), forming layer-structured precipitates and intense Fe-O bonds. Consequently, the surface-area-normalized capacity and surface reaction rate of B-NZVI are 6.5 and 6.9 times higher than those of crystalline NZVI, respectively. This study reveals the importance of alloyed B in Cr(VI) removal using B-NZVI and presents a comprehensive approach for investigating electron pathways and mechanisms involved in B-NZVIs for contaminant removal.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease linked to pyroptosis, an inflammatory cell death process. Macrophages are essential for maintaining microenvironment homeostasis, which is crucial for periodontal health. This study explores the mechanisms underlying the relationship between macrophage pyroptosis and periodontitis. METHODS: Expression of the pyroptosis marker gasdermin E (GSDME) and the macrophage surface marker CD68 was examined by immunofluorescence double staining in healthy and periodontitis gingival tissues. In an in vitro pyroptosis model, RAW264.7 cells were irritated using Porphyromonas gingivalis-lipopolysaccharide (P. gingivalis-LPS) after treatment with either a nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) agonist or inhibitor. The mRNA and protein levels of NF-κB, caspase-3, GSDME, and interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß) were evaluated through qRT-PCR, western blotting, and ELISA techniques. RESULTS: GSDME and CD68 were heavily elevated in inflamed gingival tissues compared to healthy tissues and co-localized in the same region. Furthermore, exposure to P. gingivalis-LPS resulted in a significant upregulation of NF-κB, caspase-3, GSDME, and IL-1ß at both the mRNA and protein levels in RAW264.7 cells. NF-κB agonist or inhibitor pretreatment enhanced or inhibited these effects. CONCLUSIONS: GSDME-mediated macrophage pyroptosis is implicated in periodontitis. Based on in vitro experiments, P. gingivalis-LPS causes pyroptosis in RAW264.7 cells through the caspase-3/GSDME pathway. Furthermore, NF-κB regulates this pyroptotic pathway.

Exposure to microgravity during spaceflight induces the alterations in endothelial cell function associated with post-flight cardiovascular deconditioning. PIEZO1 is a major mechanosensitive ion channel that regulates endothelial cell function. In this study, we used a two-dimensional clinostat to investigate the expression of PIEZO1 and its regulatory mechanism on human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) under simulated microgravity. Utilizing quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and Western blot analysis, we observed that PIEZO1 expression was significantly increased in response to simulated microgravity. Moreover, we found microgravity promoted endothelial cells migration by increasing expression of PIEZO1. Proteomics analysis highlighted the importance of C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4(CXCR4) as a main target molecule of PIEZO1 in HUVECs. CXCR4 protein level was increased with simulated microgravity and decreased with PIEZO1 knock down. The mechanistic study showed that PIEZO1 enhances CXCR4 expression via Ca2+ influx. In addition, CXCR4 could promote endothelial cell migration under simulated microgravity. Taken together, these results suggest that the upregulation of PIEZO1 in response to simulated microgravity regulates endothelial cell migration due to enhancing CXCR4 expression via Ca2+ influx.

Chlorpyrifos is a pesticide widely used in agricultural production with a relatively long residual half-life in soil. Addressing the problem of residual chlorpyrifos is of universal concern. In this study, rice hull biochar was used as an immobilized carrier to prepare the immobilized strain H27 for the remediation of chlorpyrifos-contamination soil. Soil microorganisms after remediation were investigated by ecotoxicological methods. The immobilized strain H27 had the highest removal rate of chlorpyrifos when 10% bacterial solution was added to the liquid medium containing 0.075-0.109 mm diameter biochar cultured for 22 hr. This study on the removal of chlorpyrifos by immobilized strain H27 showed that the initial concentration of chlorpyrifos in solution was 25 mg/L, and the removal rate reached 97.4% after 7 days of culture. In the soil, the removal rate of the immobilized bacteria group increased throughout the experiment, which was significantly higher than that of the free bacteria and biochar treatment groups. The Biolog-ECO test, T-RFLP and RT-RCR were used to study the effects of the soil microbial community and nitrogen cycling functional genes during chlorpyrifos degradation. It was found that ICP group had the highest diversity index among the four treatment groups. The microflora of segment containing 114 bp was the dominant bacterial community, and the dominant microflora of the immobilized bacteria group was more evenly distributed. The influence of each treatment group on ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) was greater than on ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA). This study offers a sound scientific basis for the practical application of immobilized bacteria to reduce residual soil pesticides.

Memristor with digital and analog bipolar bimodal resistive switching offers a promising opportunity for the information-processing component. However, it still remains a huge challenge that the memristor enables bimodal digital and analog types and fabrication of artificial sensory neural network system. Here, a proposed CsPbBr3 -based memristor demonstrates a high ON/OFF ratio (>103 ), long retention (>104 s), stable endurance (100 cycles), and multilevel resistance memory, which acts as an artificial synapse to realize fundamental biological synaptic functions and neuromorphic computing based on controllable resistance modulation. Moreover, a 5 × 5 spinosum-structured piezoresistive sensor array (sensitivity of 22.4 kPa-1 , durability of 1.5 × 104 cycles, and fast response time of 2.43 ms) is constructed as a tactile sensory receptor to transform mechanical stimuli into electrical signals, which can be further processed by the CsPbBr3 -based memristor with synaptic plasticity. More importantly, this artificial sensory neural network system combined the artificial synapse with 5 × 5 tactile sensing array based on piezoresistive sensors can recognize the handwritten patterns of different letters with high accuracy of 94.44% under assistance of supervised learning. Consequently, the digital-analog bimodal memristor would demonstrate potential application in human-machine interaction, prosthetics, and artificial intelligence.

To explore the influence of separation from parents in childhood on suicide and self-injury behavior and psychological adjustment in adolescence. A total of 880 subjects were selected, including 197 students who were separated from their parents in childhood and 683 students who were not separated from their parents in childhood. The scores of psychological resilience, self-compassion, forgiveness and suicide and self-injury were investigated and analyzed. Logistic regression analysis was made on the relationship between suicide and self-injury behavior and psychological adjustment in adolescence. The scores of psychological resilience, self-compassion, forgiveness and suicide and self-injury were statistically significant between children who were separated from their parents and those who were not separated. The students who were not separated had better psychological adjustment abilities and a lower rate of suicide and self-injury (P<0.05). There was a positive correlation between separation from parents in childhood and suicide and self-injury behavior and psychological adjustment in adolescence (P<0.05). The separation from parents in childhood is closely related to psychological resilience, forgiveness, self-compassion, and suicide-related psychological behavior and self-injury behavior in adolescence. Suicide and self-injury behavior can be reduced by reducing separation from parents in childhood and improving self-psychological adjustment ability in adolescence. During the past years, genetics, heritability, and genes' contribution to depression disorders have been well established. Alpha-2-Macroglobulin (A2M) and Dopamine Receptor D2 (DRD2) genes are very effective in behavioral and mood disorders. The results of this study showed the expression of these genes in different organs, especially in connection with the cerebrospinal system, so investigating the mechanism of their effect is very effective and promising, and it is hoped that they will be used in other research.

The therapeutic effect of apigenin (APG) on hyperlipidemia was investigated using network pharmacology combined with molecular docking strategy, and the potential targets of APG in the treatment of hyperlipidemia were explored. Genetic Ontology Biological Process (GOBP) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) Pathway enrichment analysis of common targets were performed. Then, molecular docking was used to predict the binding mode of APG to the target. Finally, Sprague Dawley rats were used to establish a hyperlipidemia model. The expression levels of insulin (INS) and vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA) mRNA in each group were detected by quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. Network pharmacological studies revealed that the role of APG in the treatment of hyperlipidemia was through the regulation of INS, VEGFA, tumor necrosis factor, epidermal growth factor receptor, matrix metalloprotein 9, and other targets, as well as through the regulation of the hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1) signaling pathway, fluid shear stress, and atherosclerosis signaling pathways, vascular permeability; APG also participated in the regulation of glucose metabolism and lipid metabolism, and acted on vascular endothelial cells, and regulated vascular tone. Molecular docking showed that APG binds to the target with good efficiency. Experiments showed that after APG treatment, the expression levels of INS and VEGFA mRNA in the model group were significantly decreased (p<0.01). In conclusion, APG has multiple targets and affects pathways involved in the treatment of hyperlipidemia by regulating the HIF-1 signaling pathway, fluid shear stress, and the atherosclerosis pathway.

In recent years, photon-counting computed tomography (PCD-CT) based on photon-counting detectors (PCDs) has become increasingly utilized in clinical practice. Compared with conventional CT, PCD-CT has the potential to achieve micron-level spatial resolution, lower radiation dose, negligible electronic noise, multi-energy imaging, and material identification, etc. This advancement facilitates the promotion of ultra-low dose scans in clinical scenarios, potentially detecting minimal and hidden lesions, thus significantly improving image quality. However, the current state of the art is limited and issues such as charge sharing, pulse pileup, K-escape and count rate drift remain unresolved. These issues could lead to a decrease in image resolution and energy resolution, while an increasing in image noise and ring artifact and so on. This article systematically reviewed the physical principles of PCD-CT, and outlined the structural differences between PCDs and energy integration detectors (EIDs), and the current challenges in the development of PCD-CT. In addition, the advantages and disadvantages of three detector materials were analysed. Then, the clinical benefits of PCD-CT were presented through the clinical application of PCD-CT in the three diseases with the highest mortality rate in China (cardiovascular disease, tumour and respiratory disease). The overall aim of the article is to comprehensively assist medical professionals in understanding the technological innovations and current technical limitations of PCD-CT, while highlighting the urgent problems that PCD-CT needs to address in the coming years.

BACKGROUND: Agomelatine has been shown to be effective in the treatment of depression, but the molecular mechanisms underlying its antidepressant effects have yet to be elucidated. Identification of these molecular mechanisms would not only offer new insights into the basis for depression but also provide the foundation for the development of novel treatments for this disorder. METHODS: Intraperitoneal injection of LPS was used to induce depression-like behaviors in rats. The interactions of the 5-HT2C reporter and Gαi-2 were verified by immunoprecipitation or immunofluorescence assay. Inflammatory related proteins, autophagy related proteins and apoptosis markers were verified by immunoblotting or immunofluorescence assay. Finally, electron microscopy analysis was used to observe the synapse and ultrastructural pathology. RESULTS: Here, we found that the capacity for agomelatine to ameliorate depression and anxiety in a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced rat model of depression was associated with an alleviation of neuroinflammation, abnormal autophagy and neuronal apoptosis as well as the promotion of neurogenesis in the hippocampal dentate gyrus (DG) region of these rats. We also found that the 5-HT2C receptor is coupled with G alphai (2) (Gαi-2) protein within hippocampal neurons and, agomelatine, acting as a 5-HT2C receptor antagonist, can up-regulate activity of the Gαi-2-cAMP-PKA pathway. Such events then suppress activation of the apoptosis signal-regulating kinase 1 (ASK1) pathway, a member of the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) family involved in pathological processes of many diseases. CONCLUSION: Taken together, these results suggest that agomelatine plays a neuroprotective role in regulating neuroinflammation, autophagy disorder and apoptosis in this LPS-induced rat model of depression, effects which are associated with the display of antidepressant behaviors. These findings provide evidence for some of the potential mechanisms for the antidepressant effects of agomelatine.

Process optimization is essential for improving the efficiency of anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) process in a practical application. In this study, an anaerobic sequence biofilm batch reactor (AnSBBR) inoculated with aerobic activated sludge was chosen as an efficient mainstream anammox reactor for treating low-nitrogen wastewater. To optimize the AnSBBR-anammox process, eight different operation stages lasting for a total of 215 days were conducted by regulating key process parameters. Principal components analysis revealed significant effects of the substrate ratio (SR) and volumetric exchange ratio (VER) on anammox performance, while other parameters (cycle time, hydraulic retention time and nitrogen loading rate) played minor roles. The highest removal efficiencies for ammonia and total nitrogen, respectively, reached 99.8% and 95.3% under optimal conditions. High-throughput sequencing found the anammox species Candidatus Brocadia and Candidatus Kuenenia made up as much as 8.5% and 3.5%, respectively, of the microbial community. Redundancy analysis indicated that these taxa were also greatly influenced by operating parameters, particularly SR and VER. This research helps to decode the correlations among nitrogen removal capacity, process parameters and the microbial community to enhance anammox in an AnSBBR system.

RESUMEN

In recent years, with the aging of the population and the frequent use of electronic devices, many eye diseases have shown a linear upward trend, such as dry eye disease, glaucoma, cataract, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. These diseases are often chronic and difficult to cure. Based on the structure and barrier of the human eye, this review describes the pathogenesis and treatments of several intractable eye diseases and summarizes the advanced ocular drug delivery systems to provide new treatment ideas for these diseases. Finally, we also look forward to the prospect of RNAi therapy in the treatment of eye diseases.

It is known that both exercise and aging influence neuromuscular performance; however their effects on post-exercise recovery are largely unknown. To examine how exercise training and aging might affect post-exercise recovery, the function of muscles taken from young, and aged male rats assigned to exercise, or control conditions was assessed with ex vivo procedures using indirect (nerve endings), and direct (sarcolemma) stimulation at different times (Initial, Final min of, and Recovery i.e. 1 min post, from 5 min of stimulation). Results revealed that initially, strength of indirectly stimulated young, male muscles was significantly (P = 0.05) greater than aged ones, but after continuous stimulation, aged and young muscles displayed similar strength, and controls showed more strength than trained muscles (P = 0.02). All groups except young controls exhibited significant recovery with 1 min of rest (P = 0.03). Compared to indirect stimulation, direct stimulation resulted in greater peak tension at each time point examined (P < 0.05); young muscles again were stronger than aged ones initially (P = 0.003), but not by the conclusion of stimulation (P = 0.20). One min following the direct stimulation protocol, no significant recovery was observed by any of the four treatment groups. These data indicate that motor neurons limit neuromuscular function, and that the effects of fatigue are more severe during stimulation of young, compared to aged muscle. Finally, results presented here indicate that age and training status do interact to influence post-exertional recovery, at least among male neuromuscular systems.

Previously, it has been shown that following muscle unloading, males and females experience different maladaptations in neuromuscular function. As a follow-up, the present investigation sought to determine if male and female neuromuscular systems demonstrated similar, or disparate morphological adaptations to muscle unloading. Twenty young adult male, and 20 young adult female rats were randomly assigned to one of two treatment protocols: muscle unloading, or control conditions. Following the 2-week intervention period, immunofluorescent procedures were used to quantify pre- and post-synaptic features of neuromuscular junctions (NMJs), and to assess myofiber profiles (size and fiber type composition) of the soleus, plantaris, and EDL muscles. A 2-way ANOVA with main effects for sex and treatment was then used to identify statistically significant (p ≤ .05) differences among structural parameters. Analysis of NMJs showed a consistent lack of differences between males and females. Overall, NMJs were also found to be resistant to the effects of unloading. When examining myofiber profiles, however, male myofibers were revealed to be significantly larger than female ones in each of the muscles examined. Unloading resulted in significant myofiber atrophy only in the primarily weight-bearing soleus muscle. Only the EDL showed unloading-induced differences in myofiber type distribution (Type II → I). These data indicate that different components of the neuromuscular system (NMJs, myofibers) respond uniquely to unloading, and that sex affects myofiber type profiles, but not NMJs. Moreover, it appears that only muscles that have their habitual activity patterns disturbed by unloading (i.e., the soleus, adapt to that intervention).

The development of non-viral vectors for gene delivery has gained attention over the past decades. Specifically, poly(ß-amino ester) (PBAE) has shown great potential for improving the delivery of gene therapeutics. It has been observed that low-molecular-weight PBAE displayed low transfection activities, while quaternization could enhance the transgene expression efficacy of PBAE. Herein, PBAE quaternary ammonium salt (PBAEQAS) was synthesized to increase the positive charge of the polymers, which resulted in an increase in siRNA binding efficiency based on self-assembly electrostatic interaction. Specifically, the nanoparticle surface was positively charged, which increased the uptake ability of siRNA. Compared with acrylate-PBAEQAS/siNC nanoparticles and amine-PBAEQAS/siNC nanoparticles, acrylate-PBAEQAS/siSurvivin nanoparticles and amine-PBAEQAS/siSurvivin nanoparticles induced more-efficient cell apoptosis and gene silencing. All these results suggest that PBAEQAS would be a promising gene delivery vector for cancer treatment.

Recently, the diagnosis of the characteristic of pulsed underwater electrical discharges plasma have received significant attention. The measurement of a time-spatial resolved spectrum emitted from a single discharge pulse is important for understanding the time-spatial evolution characteristics of plasma generated by a pulsed high-voltage discharge in water. In this paper, a high speed time-spatial resolvable spectrograph for measuring the emission spectrum of a single electrical discharge pulse was reported. The high speed time-spatial resolvable spectrograph has been constructed by combining an ultrahigh-speed frame camera system with monochromator. Software for the spectral analyzing was also developed. The performance of the spectrograph was tested by using a 632.8 nm He-Ne laser beam at a 1 200 g x mm(-1) grating. The pixel resolution for 632.8 nm spectra is 0.013 nm. The instrument broadening for 632.8 nm spectra is (0.150 ± 0.009)nm when the exposure.time of the camera is 20 ns and the width of entrance slit is 0.2 mm, and increases with increasing the slit width. The change of exposure time of the camera has no influence on the instrument broadening, ensuring the spectrograph in a steady performance while adjusting the exposure time of the camera. With the spectrograph, time-spatial resolved spectra emitted from a single discharge pulse of an underwater nanoseconds spark discharge were obtained. It provides good data for investigating the time-spatial evolution characteristics of the discharge plasma during a single discharge pulse. The spectrograph developed in this work provides a technical approach for studying the time-spatial evolution characteristic of, plasma generated by a single electrical discharge pulse.

Relationships between plant diversity and soil properties are important for restoring ecosystem function to adapt climate change in drylands. Taxonomic, functional and phylogenetic diversity are widely used for understanding community assembly and the responses of plant communities to environmental change. However, one dimension of diversity index is difficult to reflect the multiple dimensional plant diversity, and their effects on soil properties (i.e., moisture, nutrients, and texture characteristics) along aridity gradient in drylands are limitedly understood. In this study, we proposed a holistic biodiversity (HB) index to integrate all the characteristics of plant diversity, and investigated the relationships between plant diversity and soil properties across 41 sites along aridity gradient (from hyperarid to arid and semiarid levels) in drylands of northern China. The results showed that the taxonomic diversity and phylogenetic diversity increased significantly while most of functional diversity indices did not differ significantly along the aridity gradient. The functional diversity was more important than taxonomic and phylogenetic diversity to plant communities, and the importance of taxonomic and phylogenetic diversity varied greatly and inversely along the aridity gradient. The HB index could much better reflect the positive or negative exponential relationships with soil properties compared to the single diversity index. Further, the aridity weakened the positive effects of plant diversity on several soil properties (including soil water content, soil organic carbon and soil total nitrogen), and indirectly strengthened the accumulation of soil total phosphorus, as well as intensified the soil coarsening by limiting the negative effects of plant diversity on soil sand content. Our findings suggest that the holistic biodiversity index can represent the overall traits of plant diversity in drylands, and guide a further step to understand the role of plant diversity in plant-soil relationships of dryland ecosystems.

Salinity is a critical environmental factor in marine ecosystems and has complex and wide-ranging biological effects. However, the effects of changing salinity on diversity and ecological functions of high nucleic acid (HNA) and low nucleic acid (LNA) bacteria are not well understood. In this study, we used 16S rRNA sequencing and metagenomic sequencing analysis to reveal the response of HNA and LNA bacterial communities and their ecological functions to salinity, which was decreased from 26 ‰ to 16 ‰. The results showed that salinity changes had significant effects on the community composition of HNA and LNA bacteria. Among LNA bacteria, 14 classes showed a significant correlation between relative abundance and salinity. Salinity changes can lead to the transfer of some bacteria from HNA bacteria to LNA bacteria. In the network topology relationship, the complexity of the network between HNA and LNA bacterial communities gradually decreased with decreased salinity. The abundance of some carbon and nitrogen cycling genes in HNA and LNA bacteria varied with salinity. Overall, this study demonstrates the effects of salinity on diversity and ecological functions and suggests the importance of salinity in regulating HNA and LNA bacterial communities and functions.

PURPOSE: Stigma, a subjective internal shame, arises from the association of cancer with death. Sleep quality can be considered a product of stigma. However, the extent of overlap or difference between the two remains unclear. METHODS: In total, 512 survivors with breast cancer were recruited from the "Be Resilient to Breast Cancer" project between May and August 2023. This study estimated the stigma, sleep quality, and their relationship by conducting a cross-sectional network analysis. The social impact scale and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index scale were employed in this study. RESULTS: The core symptom for stigma from the network analysis was alienation by people (Strength = 1.213, Betweenness = 13, Closeness = 0.00211). The core symptom for sleep quality were the sleep quality (Str = 1.114, Bet = 17, Clo = 0.01586). Regarding the combination network, results showed that self-isolation and daytime dysfunction were the bridge nodes and that daytime dysfunction was positively associated with feeling less capable than before (according to self) (r = 0.15). CONCLUSION: Our study demonstrates the core symptoms in different symptomatic networks, which can be targeted for treatment personalization and aid in the improvement of sleep quality and stigma in breast cancer patients.
