RESUMEN
Flexible solar cells have a lot of market potential for application in photovoltaics integrated into buildings and wearable electronics because they are lightweight, shockproof and self-powered. Silicon solar cells have been successfully used in large power plants. However, despite the efforts made for more than 50 years, there has been no notable progress in the development of flexible silicon solar cells because of their rigidity1-4. Here we provide a strategy for fabricating large-scale, foldable silicon wafers and manufacturing flexible solar cells. A textured crystalline silicon wafer always starts to crack at the sharp channels between surface pyramids in the marginal region of the wafer. This fact enabled us to improve the flexibility of silicon wafers by blunting the pyramidal structure in the marginal regions. This edge-blunting technique enables commercial production of large-scale (>240 cm2), high-efficiency (>24%) silicon solar cells that can be rolled similarly to a sheet of paper. The cells retain 100% of their power conversion efficiency after 1,000 side-to-side bending cycles. After being assembled into large (>10,000 cm2) flexible modules, these cells retain 99.62% of their power after thermal cycling between -70 °C and 85 °C for 120 h. Furthermore, they retain 96.03% of their power after 20 min of exposure to air flow when attached to a soft gasbag, which models wind blowing during a violent storm.

A concept of solar energy convertible zinc-air battery (SZAB) is demonstrated through rational design of an electrode coupled with multifunction. The multifunctional electrode is fabricated using nitrogen-substituted graphdiyne (N-GDY) with large π-conjugated carbonous network, which can work as photoresponsive bifunctional electrocatalyst, enabling a sunlight-promoted process through efficient injection of photoelectrons into the conduction band of N-GDY. SZAB enables direct conversion and storage of solar energy during the charging process. Such a battery exhibits a lowered charge voltage under illumination, corresponding to a high energy efficiency of 90.4% and electric energy saving of 30.3%. The battery can display a power conversion efficiency as high as 1.02%. Density functional theory calculations reveal that the photopromoted oxygen evolution reaction kinetics originates from the transition from the alkyne bonds to double bonds caused by the transfer of excited electrons, which changes the position of highest occupied molecular orbital and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital, thus greatly promoting the formation of intermediates to the conversion process. Our findings provide conceptual and experimental confirmation that batteries are charged directly from solar energy without the external solar cells, providing a way to manufacture future energy devices.
RESUMEN
Inhibition of cytosolic DNA sensing represents a strategy that tumor cells use for immune evasion, but the underlying mechanisms are unclear. Here we have shown that CD47-signal regulatory protein α (SIRPα) axis dictates the fate of ingested DNA in DCs for immune evasion. Although macrophages were more potent in uptaking tumor DNA, increase of DNA sensing by blocking the interaction of SIRPα with CD47 preferentially occurred in dendritic cells (DCs) but not in macrophages. Mechanistically, CD47 blockade enabled the activation of NADPH oxidase NOX2 in DCs, which in turn inhibited phagosomal acidification and reduced the degradation of tumor mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) in DCs. mtDNA was recognized by cyclic-GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) in the DC cytosol, contributing to type I interferon (IFN) production and antitumor adaptive immunity. Thus, our findings have demonstrated how tumor cells inhibit innate sensing in DCs and suggested that the CD47-SIRPα axis is critical for DC-driven antitumor immunity.

High-quality primer design is essential for the success of all polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based experiments. We previously developed a thermodynamics-based gene-specific quantitative PCR (qPCR) primer database for 147 organisms, which has been used extensively in gene expression studies. However, the number of organisms and the imperfection of function in the database limits its potential applications. Here, we improved the functionality of qPrimerDB to create a more comprehensive primer resource. Specifically, we (i) developed an improved primer design tool, qPrimer, building upon the previous qPrimerDB pipeline, to enhance the efficiency and simplicity of genome-scale qPCR primer design; (ii) pre-computed qPCR primer resources from 1 308 genomes of 1172 organisms and (iii) introduced a complete system for identifying, designing, checking, marking, and submitting qPCR primers. qPrimerDB 2.0 is freely available at https://qprimerdb.biodb.org. The qPrimer source code is available at https://github.com/swu1019lab/qPrimer.
RESUMEN
Leaf senescence is a vital aspect of plant physiology and stress responses and is induced by endogenous factors and environmental cues. The plant-specific NAC (NAM, ATAF1/2, CUC2) transcription factor family influences growth, development, and stress responses in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) and other species. However, the roles of NACs in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) leaf senescence are still unclear. Here, we report that NtNAC56 regulates leaf senescence in tobacco. Transgenic plants overexpressing NtNAC56 (NtNAC56-OE) showed induction of senescence-related genes and exhibited early senescence and lower chlorophyll content compared to wild-type (WT) plants and the Ntnac56-19 mutant. In addition, root development and seed germination were inhibited in the NtNAC56-OE lines. Transmission electron microscopy observations accompanied by physiological and biochemical assays revealed that NtNAC56 overexpression triggers chloroplast degradation and reactive oxygen species accumulation in tobacco leaves. Transcriptome analysis demonstrated that NtNAC56 activates leaf senescence-related genes and jasmonic acid (JA) biosynthesis pathway genes. In addition, the JA content of NtNAC56-OE plants was higher than in WT plants, and JA treatment induced NtNAC56 expression. We performed DNA affinity purification sequencing to identify direct targets of NtNAC56, among which we focused on LIPOXYGENASE 5 (NtLOX5), a key gene in JA biosynthesis. A dual-luciferase reporter assay and a yeast one-hybrid assay confirmed that NtNAC56 directly binds to the TTTCTT motif in the NtLOX5 promoter. Our results reveal a mechanism whereby NtNAC56 regulates JA-induced leaf senescence in tobacco and provide a strategy for genetically manipulating leaf senescence and plant growth.

Direct electrosynthesis of high-value amino acids from carbon and nitrogen monomers remains a challenge. Here, we design a tandem dual-site PbCu electrocatalyst for efficient amino acid electrosynthesis. Using oxalic acid (H2C2O4) and hydroxylamine (NH2OH) as the raw reactants, for the first time, we have realized the flow-electrosynthesis of glycine at the industrial current density of 200 mA cm-2 with Faradaic efficiency over 78%. In situ ATR-FTIR spectroscopy characterizations reveal a favorable tandem pathway on the dual-site catalyst. Specifically, the Pb site drives the highly selective electroreduction of H2C2O4 to form glyoxylic acid, and the Cu site accelerates the fast hydrogenation of oxime to form a glycine product. A glycine electrosynthesis (GES)-formaldehyde electrooxidation (FOR) assembly is further established, which synthesizes more valuable chemicals (HCOOH, H2) while minimizing energy consumption. Altogether, we introduce a new strategy to enable the one-step electrosynthesis of high-value amino acid from widely accessible monomers.
RESUMEN
Natriuretic peptide receptor-C (NPR-C) is highly expressed in adipose tissues and regulates obesity-related diseases; however, the detailed mechanism remains unknown. In this research, we aimed to explore the potential role of NPR-C in cold exposure and high-fat/high-sugar (HF/HS) diet-induced metabolic changes, especially in regulating white adipose tissue (WAT) mitochondrial function. Our findings showed that NPR-C expression, especially in epididymal WAT (eWAT), was reduced after cold exposure. Global Npr3 (gene encoding NPR-C protein) deficiency led to reduced body weight, increased WAT browning, thermogenesis, and enhanced expression of genes related to mitochondrial biogenesis. RNA-sequencing of eWAT showed that Npr3 deficiency enhanced the expression of mitochondrial respiratory chain complex genes and promoted mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in response to cold exposure. In addition, Npr3 KO mice were able to resist obesity induced by HF/HS diet. Npr3 knockdown in stromal vascular fraction (SVF)-induced white adipocytes promoted the expression of proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1α (PGC1α), uncoupling protein one (UCP1), and mitochondrial respiratory chain complexes. Mechanistically, NPR-C inhibited cGMP and calcium signaling in an NPR-B-dependent manner but suppressed cAMP signaling in an NPR-B-independent manner. Moreover, Npr3 knockdown induced browning via AKT and p38 pathway activation, which were attenuated by Npr2 knockdown. Importantly, treatment with the NPR-C-specific antagonist, AP-811, decreased WAT mass and increased PGC-1α, UCP1, and mitochondrial complex expression. Our findings reveal that NPR-C deficiency enhances mitochondrial function and energy expenditure in white adipose tissue, contributing to improved metabolic health and resistance to obesity.

The absence of intrinsic p-type 2D layered semiconductors has hampered the development of 2D devices, particularly in complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) devices and integrated circuits. Developing practical p-type semiconductors and advanced modulation techniques for precise carrier control is paramount to advancing electronic devices and systems. Here, by applying pressure to continuously tune the Peierls distortion in NbOI2, we effectively control the polarity and concentration of carriers and significantly enhance its photoelectric properties. The results demonstrate that by suppressing the off-center displacement of Nb atoms along the in-plane b direction under pressure, NbOI2 undergoes a semiconductor-to-semiconductor phase transition from C2 to C2/m, leading to a significant transition from n-type to p-type carrier behavior. Additionally, the gradual inhibition of internal interactions within Nb-Nb dimers along the in-plane c direction under high pressure facilitates electron delocalization, substantially enhancing the photoelectric properties. The photocurrent is increased by more than 3 orders of magnitude under xenon irradiation, and the spectral response range is continuously red-shifted and extended to 1450 nm. These findings highlight the potential of pressure engineering to adjust photoelectric properties effectively and flexibly, offering valuable insights for designing high-performance p-type two-dimensional semiconductors.
RESUMEN
Herein, composites of nanosheets with van der Waals contacts are employed to disclose how the interlayer-microenvironment affects the product selectivity of carbon dioxide (CO2) photoreduction. The concept of composites of nanosheets with dual active sites is introduced to manipulate the bonding configuration and promote the thermodynamic formation of methanol (CH3OH). As a prototype, the CoNi2S4-In2O3 composites of nanosheets are prepared, in which high-resolution transmission electron microscopy imaging, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy spectra, and zeta potential tests confirm the presence of van der Waals contacts rather than chemical bonding between the In2O3 nanosheets and the CoNi2S4 nanosheets within the composite. The fabricated CoNi2S4-In2O3 composites of nanosheets exhibit the detection of the key intermediate *CH3O during CO2 photoreduction through in situ Fourier transform infrared spectra, while the In2O3 nanosheets and CoNi2S4 nanosheets alone do not show this capability, further verified by the density functional theory calculations. Accordingly, the CoNi2S4-In2O3 composites of nanosheets show the ability to produce CH3OH, whereas the CoNi2S4 and In2O3 nanosheets solely generate carbon monoxide products from CO2 photoreduction.
RESUMEN
BACKGROUND & AIMS: Liver fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B can regress with successful antiviral therapy. However, the long-term clinical benefits of fibrosis regression have not been fully elucidated. This study investigated the association between biopsy-proven fibrosis regression by predominantly progressive, indeterminate, and predominantly regressive (P-I-R) score and liver-related events (LREs) in chronic hepatitis B patients. METHODS: Patients with on-treatment liver biopsy and significant fibrosis/cirrhosis (Ishak stage ≥3) were included in this analysis. Fibrosis regression was evaluated according to the P-I-R score of the Beijing Classification. LREs were defined as decompensations, hepatocellular carcinoma, liver transplantation, or death. The Cox proportional hazards model was used to determine associations of fibrosis regression with LREs. RESULTS: A total of 733 patients with Ishak stages 3/4 (n = 456; 62.2%) and cirrhosis (Ishak stages 5/6; n = 277; 37.8%) by on-treatment liver biopsy were enrolled. According to the P-I-R score, fibrosis regression, indeterminate, and progression were observed in 314 (42.8%), 230 (31.4%), and 189 (25.8%) patients, respectively. The 7-year cumulative incidence of LREs was 4.1%, 8.7%, and 18.1% in regression, indeterminate, and progression, respectively (log-rank, P < .001). Compared with patients with fibrosis progression, those with fibrosis regression had a lower risk of LREs (adjusted hazard ratio, 0.40; 95% CI, 0.16-0.99; P = .047), followed by the indeterminate group (adjusted hazard ratio, 0.86; 95% CI, 0.40-1.85; P = .691). Notably, this favorable association also was observed in patients with cirrhosis or low platelet counts (<150 × 109/L). CONCLUSIONS: Antiviral therapy-induced liver fibrosis regression assessed by P-I-R score is associated with reduced LREs. This shows the utility of histologic fibrosis regression assessed by on-treatment P-I-R score as a surrogate endpoint for clinical events in patients with hepatitis B virus-related fibrosis or early cirrhosis.

The fabrication of materials with hierarchical structures has garnered great interest, owing to the potential for significantly enhancing their functions. Herein, a strategy of coupling molecular solvation and crystal growth is presented to fabricate porous spherulites of 2,4,6,8,10,12-hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazaisowurtzitane (CL-20), an important energetic material. With the addition of polyvinylpyrrolidone in the antisolvent crystallization, the metastable solvate of CL-20 is formed and grows spherulitically, and spontaneously desolvates to obtain the porous spherulite when filtration, in which the characteristic peak of the nitro group of CL-20 shifts detected by the in situ micro-confocal Raman spectroscopy. The effect of polyvinylpyrrolidone is thought to induce the solvation of CL-20, confirmed by density functional theory calculations, meanwhile acting on the (020) face of CL-20 to trigger spherulitic growth, demonstrated through infrared spectroscopy and Rietveld refinement of powder X-ray diffraction. Moreover, compared to common CL-20 crystals, porous spherulites exhibit enhanced combustion with increases of 6.24% in peak pressure, 40.21% in pressurization rate, and 9.63% in pressure duration effect, indicating the capability of hierarchical structures to boost the energy release of energetic crystals. This work demonstrates a new route via solvation-growth coupling to construct hierarchical structures for organic crystals and provides insight into the structure-property relations for material design.

Grain boundary (GB) glassy phase often results in poor ceramic performances. Here, a Multicomponent Grain Boundary Entropy (MGBE) descriptor extracted from high-throughput first-principle calculations is proposed to capture the nature of high-entropy GB phases in ceramics. In a Si3N4 ceramic model system, MGBE is found to have a direct correlation with GB phase crystallinity, element segregation, and formation of pores. The predicted highest MGBE sintering additive combination (MgO-Y2O3-Er2O3-Yb2O3) leads to high-performance ceramics of homogenous microstructure and pure GB (YErYb)2Si3O3N4 phase without observable glassy film. Conversely, low MGBE additives result in a substantial amount of GB glassy phase, element segregation, and pore clusters. The MGBE descriptor can make a rapid screening of multicomponent sintering additives, offering a novel approach for rational designing of ceramics with targeted microstructure and performances.
RESUMEN
Highly anticipated potassium metal batteries possess abundant potassium reserves and high theoretical capacity but currently suffer from poor cycling stability as a result of dendritic growth and volume expansion. Here, carbon cloths modified with different functional groups treated with ethylene glycol, ethanolamine, and ethylenediamine are designed as 3D hosts, exhibiting different wettability to molten potassium. Among them, the hydroxyl-decorated carbon cloth with a high affinity for potassium can achieve molten potassium perfusion (K@EG-CC) within 3 s. By efficiently inducing the uniform deposition of metal potassium, buffing its volume expansion, and lowering local current density, the developed K@EG-CC anode alleviates the dendrite growth issue. The K@EG-CC||K@EG-CC symmetric battery can be cycled stably for 2100 h and has only a small voltage hysteresis of ≈93â mV at 0.5â mA cm-2 . Moreover, the high-voltage plateau, high energy density, and long cycle life of K metal full batteries can be realized with a low-cost KFeSO4 F@carbon nanotube cathode. This study provides a simple strategy to promote the commercial applications of potassium metal batteries.
RESUMEN
It is an urgent problem to realize reliable microwave absorption materials (MAMs) with low density. To address this issue, a series of controlled experiments w ere carried out, which indicated that the tubular structure enables excellent microwave absorption properties with a lower powder filling rate. This performance is attributable to the combined dielectric and magnetic loss mechanisms provided by Co/C and the interface polarization facilitated by multiple heterogeneous interfaces. Particularly, Co@C nanotubes, benefiting from the enhanced heterointerface polarization due to their abundant specific surface area and the reduced electron migration barrier induced by their 1D stacked structure, effectively achieved a dual enhancement of dielectric loss and polarization loss at lower powder filling ratios. Furthermore, the magnetic coupling effect of magnetic nanoparticle arrays in tubular structures is demonstrated by micromagnetic simulation, which have been few reported elsewhere. These propertied enable Co@C nanotubes to achieve minimum reflection loss and maximum effective absorption broadband values of 61.0 dB and 5.5 GHz, respectively, with a powder filling ratio of 20 wt% and a thickness of 1.94 mm. This study reveals the significance of designing 1D structures in reducing powder filling ratio and matching thickness, providing valuable insights for developing MAMs with different microstructures.
RESUMEN
Rapeseed (Brassica napus) silique is the major carbohydrate source for seed development, and the final silique length has attracted great attention from breeders. However, no studies had focused on the dynamic character of silique elongation length (SEL). Here, the dynamic SEL investigation in a natural population including 588 lines over two years indicate that dynamic SEL during 0-20 days after flowering was the most essential stage associated with seed number per silique (SPS) and thousand seed weight (TSW). Then, nine loci were identified to be associated with SEL based on GWAS analysis, among which five SNPs (over 50%) distributed on the A02 chromosome within 6.08 to 6.48 Mb. Subsequently, we screened 5078 differentially expressed genes between two extreme materials. An unknown protein, BnaA02.SE, was identified combining with GWAS and RNA-Seq analysis. Subcellular localization and expression profiles analysis demonstrated that BnaA02.SE is a chloroplast- and nucleus-localized protein mainly expressed in pericarps and leaves. Furthermore, transgenic verification and dynamic cytological observation reveal that overexpressed BnaA02.SE can promote silique elongation by regulating JA and IAA contents, affecting cell proliferation and expansion, respectively, and finally enhance seed yield by influencing SPS and TSW. Haplotype analysis reveal that the homologs of BnaA02.SE may also be involved in silique elongation regulation. Our findings provided comprehensive insights into a newly SEL trait, and cloned the first gene (BnaA02.SE) controlling silique elongation in B. napus. The identified BnaA02.SE and its homologs can offer a valuable target for improving B. napus yield.

Silique number is a crucial yield-related trait for the genetic enhancement of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.). The intricate molecular process governing the regulation of silique number involves various factors. Despite advancements in understanding the mechanisms regulating silique number in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) and rice (Oryza sativa), the molecular processes involved in controlling silique number in rapeseed remain largely unexplored. In this review, we identify candidate genes and review the roles of genes and environmental factors in regulating rapeseed silique number. We use genetic regulatory networks for silique number in Arabidopsis and grain number in rice to uncover possible regulatory pathways and molecular mechanisms involved in regulating genes associated with rapeseed silique number. A better understanding of the genetic network regulating silique number in rapeseed will provide a theoretical basis for the genetic improvement of this trait and genetic resources for the molecular breeding of high-yielding rapeseed.

To investigate the effect and mechanism of Huogu injection (HG) on steroid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (SONFH), we established a SONFH model in rabbits using horse serum and dexamethasone (DEX) and applied HG locally at the hip joint. We evaluated the therapeutic efficacy at 4 weeks using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), micro-CT, and qualitative histology including H&E, Masson's trichrome, ALP, and TUNEL staining. In vitro, we induced osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) and performed analysis on days 14 and 21 of cell differentiation. The findings, in vivo, including SEM, micro-CT, and H&E staining, showed that HG significantly maintained bone quality and trabecular number. ALP staining indicated that HG promoted the proliferation of bone cells. Moreover, the results of Masson's trichrome staining demonstrated the essential role of HG in collagen synthesis. Additionally, TUNEL staining revealed that HG reduced apoptosis. ALP and ARS staining in vitro confirmed that HG enhanced osteogenic differentiation and mineralization, consistent with the WB and qRT-PCR analysis. Furthermore, Annexin V-FITC/PI staining verified that HG inhibited osteoblast apoptosis, in agreement with the WB and qRT-PCR analyses. Furthermore, combined with the UPLC analysis, we found that naringin enhanced the osteogenic differentiation and accelerated the deposition of calcium phosphate. Salvianolic acid B protected osteoblasts derived from BMSCs against GCs-mediated apoptosis. Thus, this study not only reveals the mechanism of HG in promoting osteogenesis and anti-apoptosis of osteoblasts but also identifies the active-related components in HG, by which we provide the evidence for the application of HG in SONFH.

Excessive scar formation such as hypertrophic scars and keloids, resulting from trauma or surgical procedures, present a widespread concern for causing disfigurement, discomfort, and functional limitations. Macrophages play pivotal roles in maintaining tissue homeostasis, orchestrating tissue development, repair, and immune responses, and its transition of function and phenotype plays a critical role in regulating the balance between inflammation and tissue regeneration, which is central to cutaneous scar formation. Recent evidence suggests the involvement of Sonic Hedgehog (SHH) in the induction of anti-inflammatory M2-like macrophage phenotypes within tumor microenvironments. In our study, we observed increased SHH expression in human hypertrophic scars, prompting an investigation into its influence on macrophage polarization, efferocytosis, and cutaneous scar formation. Our findings reveal that SHH can enhance oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) in macrophages, augment macrophage efferocytosis, and promote M2 polarization, finally contributing to the progression of cutaneous scar formation. Notably, targeting SHH signaling with vismodegib exhibited promising potential in mitigating scar formation by reversing the effects of enhanced OXPHOS and M2 polarization in macrophages. In conclusion, this study underscores the critical roles of macrophage metabolism, particularly OXPHOS, efferocytosis and SHH signaling in cutaneous scar formation. Understanding these mechanisms provides new avenues for potential interventions and scar prevention strategies.

OBJECTIVE: To retrospectively analyze the effect of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) on the progression free survival (PFS) of advanced gastric cancer (GC) and colorectal cancer (CRC). METHOD: We retrospectively collected all the HIPEC data of GC and CRC in the Chongqing University Cancer Hospital from August 2018 to April 2023. Data were extracted from inpatient records and outpatient examination records. The IBM SPSS statistics 23.0 software was used to analyze the data. We mainly compared the PFS of HIPEC cases with that of non-HIPEC cases (both from our center and from the literature). PFS was analyzed with the Kaplan-Meier method. Log Rank (Mantel Cox), Breslow (Generalized Wilcoxon), and Tarone-Ware were used for univariate analyses. RESULT: A total of 342 HIPEC cases were analyzed in this study. Stage IV GC and CRC accounted for 48.5% of the total number of cases. Abdominal pain and distension (47.4%) were the most common side effects from HIPEC. Serious complications were rare (1.8%, including bleeding, perforation, obstruction, and death). The PFS and disease-free survival (DFS) of abdominal malignancy treated with HIPEC were significantly associated with the TNM stage, but not HIPEC numbers nor HIPEC drugs. In stage IV HIPEC cases, adding adjuvant chemotherapy after HIPEC resulted in better PFS. In addition, the association between peritoneal carcinomatosis index (PCI) and PFS of stage IV HIPEC cases was close to significant. Compared with the 33 stage IV (with peritoneal metastases) GC cases without HIPEC in our center from the last 15 years, the PFS of the 56 stage â £ GC cases with HIPEC was not improved significantly (median PFS: 6 ± 2.92 months vs 7 ± 1.63 months for with vs without HIPEC in stage IV GC, respectively; P ≥ 0.05). Compared with the 58 stage IV (with peritoneal metastases) CRC cases without HIPEC in our center from the last 15 years, the PFS of the 86 stage IV CRC cases with HIPEC was not improved significantly either (median PFS: 7 ± 1.68 months vs 7 ± 0.62 months for with vs without HIPEC in stage IV CRC, respectively; P ≥ 0.05). When comparing our HIPEC data with the non-HIPEC data reported by other scholars for the PFS of advanced GC and CRC, the negative results were similar. CONCLUSION: The PFS/DFS of HIPEC cases was associated with the TNM stage, but not with the HIPEC numbers or HIPEC drugs. PCI may be related to the PFS of stage IV HIPEC cases. Adding chemotherapy or targeted therapy after HIPEC may improve the PFS of stage IV cases. HIPEC did not significantly improve the PFS of stage IV GC or CRC cases in our center.

Two new sesterterpenoids, sesterchaetins A and B (1 and 2), and two new diepoxide polyketides, chaetoketoics A and B (3 and 4), were characterized from the culture extract of Chaetomium globosum SD-347, a fungal strain derived from deep sea-sediment. Their structures and absolute configurations were unambiguously determined by detailed NMR, mass spectra, and X-ray crystallographic analysis. Compounds 1 and 2 contained a distinctive 5/8/6/5 tetracyclic carbon-ring-system, which represented a rarely occurring natural product framework. The new isolates 1-4 exhibited selective antimicrobial activities against human and aquatic pathogenic bacteria and plant-pathogenic fungi.
