RESUMEN

Electrocatalytic hydrodechlorination (EHDC) is a promising approach to safely remove halogenated emerging contaminants (HECs) pollutants. However, sluggish production dynamics of adsorbed atomic H (H*ads) limit the applicability of this green process. In this study, bimetallic Pd-Cu@MXene catalysts were synthesized to achieve highly efficient removal of HECs. The alloy electrode (Pd-Cu@MX/CC) exhibited better EHDC performance in comparison to Pd@MX/CC electrode, resulting in diclofenac degradation efficiency of 93.3 ± 0.1%. The characterization analysis revealed that the Pd0/PdII ratio decreased by forming bimetallic Pd-Cu alloy. Density functional theory calculations further demonstrated the electronic configuration modulation of the Pd-Cu@MXene catalysts, optimizing binging energies for H* and thereby facilitating H*ads production and tuning the reduction capability of H*ads. Noteably, the amounts and reduction potential of H*ads for Pd-Cu@MXene catalysts were 1.5 times higher and 0.37 eV lower than those observed for the mono Pd electrode. Hence, the introduction of Cu into the Pd catalyst optimized the dynamics of H*ads production, thereby conferring significant advantages to EHDC reactions. This augmentation was underscored by the successful application of the alloy catalysts supported by MXene in EHDC experiments involving other HECs, which represented a new paradigm for EHDC for efficient recalcitrant pollutant removal by H*ads.

BACKGROUND: Primary osteoporosis refers to a disease of aging characterized by reduced bone mass, damage to bone tissue microarchitecture, and predisposition to fracture.Sling core stabilization training emphasizes activating the deep local muscles of the spine under unstable conditions, and enhancing the body's balance and control during exercise. CASE PRESENTATION: A 70-year-old female went to the Acupuncture and Rehabilitation Department due to low back pain caused by osteoporosis.The patient received sling core stabilization training three times a week based on Calcium and Vitamin D Supplementation. After training, the patient's back pain was significantly relieved and insisted one year. In the physical examination of bone mineral density, the results showed that the value of bone mineral density was better than last year.The patients adhered to sling core stabilization training and observed the changes of bone mineral density every year basis on calcium and vitamin D supplementation. DISCUSSION: However, cases of calcium and vitamin D supplementation-based regular sling core stabilization training that improves bone density in osteoporosis patients have been rarely reported. Our group shared cases and analyzed possible mechanisms, hoping to provide reference for the prevention and treatment of primary osteoporosis.

Aging and age-related diseases are important study topics due to their associations with progressive physiological damage to genes, cells, tissues, and the entire organism, which ultimately affects the functional efficiency of organs. Lycium ruthenicum Murr. is a functional food that is known for its high contents of anthocyanins and spermidines, both of which have been demonstrated to have positive effects on anti-aging activity and anti-oxidation. In this study, we used HPLC-MS to analyze the constituents of L. ruthenicum Murr. Extract (LRM) and investigated their potential mechanism for exerting antioxidative effects in D-galactose (D-Gal) aging model mice. LRM (25 mg/kg, 50 mg/kg, and 100 mg/kg) improved cognitive function in D-Gal-treated mice, as shown by reduced escape latencies and increased platform crossings in behavioral tests. We measured the contents of lipid peroxidation (LPO) and malondialdehyde (MDA) and the enzyme activities of the antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in mice serum and brain after 6 weeks of D-Gal treatment. LRM decreased the contents of LPO and MDA and increased the enzyme activities of SOD and GSH-Px, indicating the protection effect of LRM against D-Gal-induced oxidative stress. Additionally, LRM can inhibit oxidative stress in cells by reducing intracellular ROS levels and restoring mitochondrial membrane potential, thereby inhibiting paraquat (PQ)-induced cellular senescence and delaying cell aging. Therefore, LRM has the potential to be a healthcare product for the treatment of age-related diseases.

RESUMEN

Ezrin is an actin binding protein connecting the cell membrane and the cytoskeleton, which is crucial to maintaining cell morphology, intercellular adhesion, and cytoskeleton remodeling. Asthma involves dysfunction of inflammatory cells, cytokines, and airway structural cells. Recent studies have shown that ezrin, whose function is affected by extensive phosphorylation and protein interactions, is closely associated with asthma, may be a therapeutic target for asthma treatment. In this review, we summarize studies on ezrin and discuss its role in asthma-related airway inflammation and remodeling.

AIM: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of berberine as an adjuvant in treating antipsychotic-associated weight gain and metabolic syndrome. METHODS: One hundred thirteen participants with schizophrenia spectrum disorders who had developed metabolic syndrome were recruited. They were randomly assigned to berberine (600 mg/d, n = 58) or placebo (n = 55) groups for 12 weeks. The primary outcome was the change from baseline to week 12 in net weight. Secondary outcomes included body mass index, waist circumference, serum glucose and lipid profiles, and the severity of psychotic symptoms. RESULTS: Compared with the placebo group, the berberine group showed a significantly greater reduction in weight gain at 9 weeks (mean difference [MD], -0.75; 95% CI, -1.42 to -0.07 [P = 0.031, d = 0.41]) and 12 weeks (MD, -1.08; 95% CI, -1.76 to -0.40 [P = 0.002, d = 0.59]). Patients who received berberine also showed statistically significant improvements in end point in body mass index (MD, -0.41; 95% CI, -0.65 to -0.17 [P = 0.001, d = 0.64]), total cholesterol (MD, -0.58; 95% CI, -0.74 to -0.41 [P < 0.001, d = 1.31]), low-density lipoprotein (MD, -0.52; 95% CI, -0.68 to -0.35 [P < 0.001, d = 1.19]), and glycated hemoglobin (MD, -0.09; 95% CI, -0.18 to 0 [P = 0.05, d = 0.37]). Berberine was well tolerated without serious adverse events and aggravation of psychotic symptoms compared with placebo. CONCLUSION: The findings suggest that berberine is effective in attenuating antipsychotic-associated weight gain and metabolic syndrome.

RESUMEN

Secoatractylohexone A (1), an unprecedented secoguaiane lactone glycoside featuring 6/7 cores and dihydroxy-9-guaine-3-one 11-O-ß-d-glucopyranoside (2), a 9,10-unsaturated guaiene-type glycoside possessing an uncommon scaffold, were isolated from the water-soluble portion of the ethanolic extract of Atractylodes lancea rhizomes together with five known compounds (3-7). The structures of 1 and 2 were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic data and application of the CD technique. The potential biological activities of secoatractylohexone A were predicted by network pharmacology in silico, the result of which indicated that secoatractylohexone A may be used to treat type II diabetes.

This study aims to explore the anti-asthma components and mechanism of Kechuanting acupoint application therapy(KAAT) based on serum metabolomics and network pharmacology. A total of 60 asthma patients who had used low-dose inhaled corticosteroids-formoterol(ICS-formoterol) for a long time were randomized into the western medicine group(low-dose ICS-formoterol) and western medicine+Kechuanting group(KAAT+low-dose ICS-Formoterol), 30 in either group. In addition, 30 healthy people were included as the control(no intervention). The asthma control test(ACT) score, forced expiratory volume in 1 second(FEV1), and peak expiratory flow(PEF) were measured in the western medicine group and western medicine+Kechuanting group before and after treatment. The potential biomarkers of KAAT in the treatment of asthma were screened by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry combined with multivariate analysis, and the related metabolic pathways were further analyzed. UPLC/LTQ-Orbitrap-MS, together with network pharmacology, was employed to construct the component-target-pathway network. Thereby, the effective components and me-chanism of KAAT in the treatment of asthma were clarified. According to the ACT score, FEV1, and PEF, KAAT was effective in the treatment of asthma. A total of 10 endogenous biomarkers of KAAT in the treatment of asthma were screened by serum metabolomics, and the pathways of the metabolism of glycine, serine and threonine, and the metabolism of glyoxylic acid and dicarboxylic acid were obtained. UPLC/LTQ-Orbitrap-MS identified 51 chemical components of KAAT: 24 flavonoids, 11 alkaloids, 8 phenols, 2 diterpenoids, 2 triterpenoids, 2 glycosides, and 2 aldehydes. Network pharmacology analysis suggested that KAAT mainly acted on serum crea-tinine(SRC), matrix metalloproteinase 9(MMP-9), and other target proteins. The treatment was closely related to metabolic pathway, phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase-protein kinase B(PI3 K-Akt), mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK), and calcium signaling pathway. Sinapine thiocyanate, corydaline, dihydroberberine, stylopine, leonticine, N-methyl tetrahydroberberine, kaempferide, erio-dictyol, quercetin, catechin, 6-gingerol, 6-shogaol, ingenol, and luteolin may be potential effective compounds of KAAT in the treatment of asthma. This study preliminarily revealed that the effective components and mechanism of KAAT in treatment of asthma based on serum metabolomics and network pharmacology. It lays a theoretical foundation for in-depth study of the mechanism and clinical development and application.

UPLC-Q-TOF-MS combined with network pharmacology and experimental verification was used to explore the mechanism of acupoint sticking therapy(AST) in the intervention of bronchial asthma(BA). The chemical components of Sinapis Semen, Cory-dalis Rhizoma, Kansui Radix, Asari Radix et Rhizoma, and Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens were retrieved from TCMSP as self-built database. The active components in AST drugs were analyzed by UPLC-Q-TOF-MS, and the targets were screened out in TCMSP and Swiss-TargetPrediction. Targets of BA were collected from GeneCards, and the intersection of active components and targets was obtained by Venny 2.1.0. The potential targets were imported into STRING and DAVID for PPI, GO, and KEGG analyses. The asthma model induced by house dust mite(HDM) was established in mice. The mechanism of AST on asthmatic mice was explored by pulmonary function, Western blot, and flow cytometry. The results indicated that 54 active components were obtained by UPLC-Q-TOF-MS and 162 potential targets were obtained from the intersection. The first 53 targets were selected as key targets. PPI, GO, and KEGG analyses showed that AST presumedly acted on SRC, PIK3 CA, and other targets through active components such as sinoacutine, sinapic acid, dihydrocapsaicin, and 6-gingerol and regulated PI3 K-AKT, ErbB, chemokine, sphingolipid, and other signaling pathways to intervene in the pathological mechanism of BA. AST can improve lung function, down-regulate the expression of PI3 K and p-AKT proteins in lung tissues, enhance the expression of PETN protein, and reduce the level of type Ⅱ innate immune cells(ILC2 s) in lung tissues of asthmatic mice. In conclusion, AST may inhibit ILC2 s by down-regulating the PI3 K-AKT pathway to relieve asthmatic airway inflammation and reduce airway hyperresponsiveness.

Esculetin is an important plant-derived natural product that has multiple bioactivities and applications. Phytophthora capsici is a notorious plant pathogen capable of infecting a broad range of hosts. In this study, we evaluated the antifungal activity of esculetin against P. capsici. The baseline sensitivity of P. capsici to esculetin was established using 108 isolates collected from various geographical regions in the Jiangsu and Shandong Provinces of China. The median effective concentration (EC50) values for esculetin ranged from 2.08 to 16.46 µg/ml (mean, 6.87 ± 2.70 µg/ml) and were normally distributed. Furthermore, both zoospore production and germination were strongly inhibited by esculetin. Importantly, esculetin exhibited protective as well as curative activities against P. capsici on tomato and was capable of restricting the early infection of P. capsici on Nicotiana benthamiana. We found that the esculetin treatment led to cell membrane damage of P. capsici, as revealed by morphological observations and measurements of relative conductivity and malondialdehyde (MDA). Finally, our results also suggested that esculetin may adversely affect P. capsici by inhibiting its DNA and protein synthesis. These findings will contribute to the broader evaluation of the use of esculetin to control diseases caused by P. capsici and toward a better understanding of its mode of action as a potential fungicide.

Acetaminophen (APAP) overdose-induced acute liver injury (AILI) is a significant clinical problem worldwide, the hepatotoxicity mechanisms are well elucidated, but the factors involved in the necrosis and repair still remain to be investigated. APAP was injected intraperitoneally in male Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) mice. Quantitative proteome analysis of liver tissues was performed by 2-nitrobenzenesulfenyl tagging, two-dimensional-nano high-performance liquid chromatography separation, and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry analysis. Diffrenetial proteins were verified by the immunochemistry method. 36 and 44 differentially expressed proteins were identified, respectively, at 24 hr after APAP (200 or 300 mg·kg -1 ) administration. The decrease in the mitochondrial protective proteins Prdx6, Prdx3, and Aldh2 accounted for the accumulation of excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) and aldehydes, impairing mitochondria structure and function. The Gzmf combined with Bax and Apaf-1 jointly contributed to the necrosis. The blockage of Stat3 activation led to the overexpression of unphosphorylated Stat3 and the overproduction of Bax. The overexpression of unphosphorylated Stat3 represented necrosis; the alternation from Stat3 to p-Stat3 in necrotic regions represented hepatocytes from death to renewal. The high expressions of P4hα1, Ncam, α-SMA, and Cygb were involved in the liver repair, they were not only the markers of activated HSC but also represented an intermediate stage of hepatocytes from damage or necrosis to renewal. Our data provided a comprehensive report on the profile and dynamic changes of the liver proteins in AILI; the involvement of Gzmf and the role of Stat3 in necrosis were revealed; and the role of hepatocyte in liver self-repair was well clarified.

The intestinal tract, which harbours tremendous numbers of bacteria, plays a pivotal role in the digestion and absorption of nutrients. Here, high-throughput sequencing technology was used to determine the community composition and complexity of the intestinal microbiota in cultivated European eels during three stages of their lifecycle, after which the metabolic potentials of their intestinal microbial communities were assessed. The results demonstrated that European eel intestinal microbiota were dominated by bacteria in the phyla Proteobacteria and Fusobacteria. Statistical analyses revealed that the three cultured European eel life stages (elver, yellow eel, and silver eel) shared core microbiota dominated by Aeromonas. Phylogenetic Investigation of Communities by Reconstruction of Unobserved States (PICRUSt) predictions of metagenome function revealed that the European eel intestinal microbiota might play significant roles in host nutrient metabolism. Biolog AN MicroPlate™ analysis and extracellular enzyme assays of culturable intestinal bacteria showed that the intestinal microbiota have a marked advantage in the metabolism of starch, which is the main carbohydrate component in European eel formulated feed. Understanding the ecology and functions of the intestinal microbiota during different developmental stages will help us improve the effects of fish-based bacteria on the composition and metabolic capacity of nutrients in European eels.

BACKGROUND Primary osteoporosis is a common disease among postmenopausal women and the elderly; low back pain is the most typical clinical manifestation an is the primary reason for a clinic visit, and directly affects patients' quality of life. Anti-osteoporosis medications have undesirable side effects, and many kinds of special traditional Chinese moxibustion methods have been widely used in the clinical treatment of osteoporosis low back pain. The purpose of this study was to observe whether thunder-fire moxibustion therapy, compared to calcium supplements alone, can ease osteoporosis low back pain, improve quality of life, and reduce tension of the multifidus. MATERIAL AND METHODS Sixty-three eligible patients were enrolled in the study (7 of these patients did not finish the study and are not included in analysis). Participants were randomly divided into 2 groups: a moxibustion group that received calcium carbonate D3 and thunder-fire moxibustion therapy, and a control group that received calcium carbonate D3 only. Level of pain experienced, assessed using the visual analogue scale (VAS), and quality of life (SF-36) were measured pre-treatment, at the end of 4 weeks of treatment, and at a 1-month post-treatment evaluation. Changes in values of Young's modulus of the multifidus were also collected before and after treatment. RESULTS After 4 weeks of treatment and at 1 month after treatment had ended, low back pain in both groups was reduced relative to pre-treatment levels. The moxibustion group was significantly improved at BP, GH, SF, and MH dimensions compared to pre-treatment levels. The control group improved in BP dimensions, but not to the same extent as the moxibustion group. Similarly, after treatment for 4 weeks with moxibustion, multifidus tension was significantly reduced. CONCLUSIONS Thunder-fire moxibustion is an effective method for treating low back pain due to primary osteoporosis.

BACKGROUND: Stigma is a major issue across various society and cultures, and few studies focus on the perception of stigma by Chinese patients with schizophrenia. In the current cross-sectional study, we sought to assess the extent of internalized stigma among outpatients with schizophrenia in China and to investigate whether education level correlated with the experience of stigma. METHODS: Outpatients with schizophrenia were evaluated using the brief psychosis rating scale (BPRS), the positive and negative syndrome scale (PANSS), the clinical global impression-severity of illness (CGI-SI) scale and the Stigma Scale for Mental Illness (SSMI 2C). Patients were categorized into the high education and low education group according to their educational levels. RESULTS: One hundred thirty-three subjects were included in the study. Their mean course of illness was 4.32 ± 6.14 years (range, 1 month to 15 years). Their mean BPRS score was 19.87 ± 5.46, their mean PANSS score was 44.11 ± 13.1, and their mean CGI-SI score was 2.22 ± 0.81. In addition, the mean SSMI 2C score of the high education group (7.15 ± 0.98) was markedly higher than that of the low education group (5.75 ± 0.79, P < 0.05). The mean domain I score of the high education group (2.30 ± 0.76) was comparable to that of the low education group (2.07 ± 0.78, P > 0.05). The mean domain II score of the high education group (2.42 ± 0.96) was markedly higher than that of the low education group (2.01 ± 0.79, P < 0.05). Moreover, the mean domain III score of the high education group (2.43 ± 0.79) was significantly higher than that of the low education group (1.67 ± 0.77, P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Education level impacts on the perception of stigma by patients with schizophrenia and more psycho-education should be done to improve patients' knowledge about schizophrenia.

METHODS: The abundance of total bacteria was studied using DAPI staining; the composition, distribution and the dynamics of bacterial community were examined using both the denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) and the 16S rRNA gene clone library analyses over a 2-year periods from October 2011 to August 2013. Moreover, multivariate statistical analysis was used to analyze the relationship between bacterial community and environmental factors. RESULTS: The total numbers of bacteria ranging from 4.91 x 10(6) cells/mL to 18.71 x 10(6) cells/mL, and the seasonal variation of bacterial abundance was obviously stronger than the spatial heterogeneity. DGGE and clone library analysis revealed that bacterial communities were mainly affected by temporal changes. Phylogenetic analysis showed that bacteria belonging to 11 phyla were identified. Members of 3-Proteobacteria and Cyanobacteria group were the predominated lineage, followed by a-Proteo bacteria, Actinobacteria and Bacteroidetes. Redundancy analysis (RDA) suggested that water temperature, pH, total nitrogen, total phosphorus and chlorophyll a content contributed significantly to the bacteria-environment relationship. CONCLUSION: There is rich bacterial diversity in Zuohai lake, the patterns of change in bacterial communities showed that the seasonal difference might have a significant impact on structuring the bacterial communities in the lake.

OBJECTIVE: To reveal the diversity of bacterioplankton during winter and spring in Zuohai lake, Fuzhou City, China. METHODS: We constructed 16S rRNA gene clone libraries in the two seasons (January, 2012 and April, 2012); the Shannon diversity index, Simpson dominance index and Evenness index of the bacterial community in the two samples were compared, and the analysis for the bacterial community structures of this two water samples was conducted. RESULTS: The Shannon diversity index in January achieved 3.53, and the Evenness index achieved 0.66; While the Shannon diversity index of April reached 3.37, and the Evenness index reached 0.64. It indicated that the bacterial communities in the two water samples were diverse, but the Evenness indexes were very low. Bacterial belonging to 5 phyla were identified: alpha-proteobacteria, beta-proteobacteria, bacteroidetes, actinobacteria and cyanobacteria. Also, there were many sequences belonging to unidentified bacteria. In January, bacterial community with beta-proteobacteria predominated followed by cyanobacteria; while cyanobacteria was the predominant bacterial communities in April. CONCLUSION: The distribution of the bacteria in the two seasons has differences, especially the most dominant bacteria differed significantly. In addition, bacterial diversity in the two water samples was high, and compared with in spring, that in winter has higher bacterial diversity, but exit a large number of unidentified bacteria in this environment.

OBJECTIVES: To observe the body surface temperature of the lumbosacral region and relevant back-shu points in patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH) induced low back pain utilizing infrared thermography, and to explore the functional attribute changes of acupoints under pathological conditions. METHODS: A total of 50 patients with LDH induced low back pain were included as the observation group, and 45 healthy subjects were included as the control group. Using infrared thermography, the body surface temperature of the lumbosacral region and bilateral Sanjiaoshu (BL 22), Shenshu (BL 23), Qihaishu (BL 24), Dachangshu (BL 25), Guanyuanshu (BL 26), Xiaochangshu (BL 27), and Pangguangshu (BL 28) was measured in both groups. The temperature difference values between the bilateral lumbosacral regions and back-shu points of the two groups were calculated. Additionally, the body surface temperature of the affected and healthy sides of the lumbosacral region and relevant back-shu points was compared in the observation group. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the body surface temperature of the lumbosacral region and the bilateral temperature difference values of the lumbosacral regions were increased in the observation group (P<0.001). The body surface temperature difference values of bilateral Shenshu (BL 23), Qihaishu (BL 24), Dachangshu (BL 25), Guanyuanshu (BL 26) and Xiaochangshu (BL 27) in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05, P<0.01, P<0.001). In the observation group, the body surface temperature of the affected side of the lumbosacral region as well as Shenshu (BL 23) and Dachangshu (BL 25) was elevated compared with that of healthy side (P<0.001). CONCLUSIONS: The patients with LDH induced low back pain have imbalanced and asymmetrical distribution of body surface temperature in the lumbosacral region and related back-shu points, Shenshu (BL 23) and Dachangshu (BL 25) have the relative specificity.

BACKGROUND: Chronic pain is acomplexhealth issue. Compared to acute pain, which has a protective value, chronic pain is defined as persistent pain after tissue injury. Few clinical advances have been made to prevent the transition from acute to chronic pain. Electroacupuncture (EA), the most common form of acupuncture, is widely used in clinical practice to relieve pain. METHODS: The hyperalgesic priming model, established via a carrageenan injection followed by a prostaglandin E2 injection, was used to investigate the development or establishment of chronic pain. We observed the hyperalgesic effect of EA on rats and investigated the expression p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase, interleukin-33 (IL-33), and its receptor ST2 in astrocytes in the L4-L6 spinal cord dorsal horns (SDHs) after EA. The IL-33/ST2 signaling pathway in SDH is associated with the development of chronic pain. RESULTS: EA can reverse the pain threshold in hyperalgesic priming model rats and regulates the expression of phosphorylated p38, IL-33, and ST2 in astrocytes in the L4-L6 SDHs. We discovered that EA raises the pain threshold. This suggests that EA can prevent the development or establishment of chronic pain by inhibiting IL-33/ST2 signaling in the lower central nervous system. CONCLUSIONS: EA can alleviate the development or establishment of chronic pain by modulating IL-33/ST2 signaling in SDHs. Our findings will help clinicians understand the mechanisms of EA analgesia.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of thunder-fire moxibustion on the balance function and musculoskeletal metabolism in female patients of primary osteoporosis (POP) with low muscle mass. METHODS: Sixty female patients of POP with low muscle mass were randomly divided into an observation group (30 cases, 5 cases dropped out) and a control group (30 cases, 2 cases dropped out). The patients in the control group were treated with oral administration of Caltrate D (1.5 g calcium carbonate + 125 IU vitamin D3), one tablet per day for 12 weeks. In addition to the control treatment, the patients in the observation group were treated with thunder-fire moxibustion at Mingmen (GV 4), Yaoyangguan (GV 3), bilateral Ganshu (BL 18), Shenshu (BL 23), and Dachangshu (BL 25), 30 min per acupoint, once every other day, three times a week, for 12 weeks. Balance function indexes (95% confidence ellipse area of the center of pressure [COP], total displacement, average speed), lumbar pain visual analogue scale (VAS), serum muscle metabolism factors (myostatin [MSTN], peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ coactivator-1α [PGC-1α]) and bone metabolism factors (aminoterminal propeptide typeⅠ procollagen [PINP], C-terminal telopeptide of typeⅠcollagen [CTX-Ⅰ]) were compared before and after treatment in both groups. RESULTS: Compared before treatment, the 95% confidence ellipse area of COP, total displacement, and average speed in the observation group were decreased after treatment (P<0.01), and the above indexes in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Compared before treatment, the VAS scores in both groups were decreased after treatment (P<0.01), the score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.01). Compared before treatment, the serum levels of MSTN, PINP and CTX-Ⅰ in the observation group were reduced after treatment (P<0.01), while the serum level of PGC-1α was increased (P<0.01). The control group showed a decrease in serum level of MSTN (P<0.05). The observation group had lower serum levels of MSTN and PINP (P<0.05) and higher serum level of PGC-1α (P<0.01) compared to the control group. CONCLUSION: The thunder-fire moxibustion can effectively relieve lumbar pain, improve balance function, and regulate musculoskeletal metabolism in female patients of POP with low muscle mass.

Obsessive-compulsive symptoms are frequently observed in various psychiatric disorders, including obsessive-compulsive disorder, schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety. However, the underlying anatomical basis of these symptoms remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to investigate the mechanism of schizophrenia with obsessive-compulsive symptoms by using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI)-based structural brain connectivity analysis to assess the network differences between patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), patients with schizophrenia showing obsessive-compulsive symptoms (SCH), schizophrenia patients with obsessive-compulsive symptoms due to clozapine (LDP), and healthy controls (CN). We included 21 patients with OCD, 20 patients with SCH, 12 patients with LDP, and 25 CN. All subjects underwent MRI scanning, and structural brain connections were estimated using diffusion tensor imaging for further analysis of brain connectivity. The topology and efficiency of the network and the characteristics of various brain regions were investigated. We assessed baseline YALE-BROWN OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE SCALE (Y-BOCS), Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS), and 24-item Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD-24) scores. Our results showed significant differences among the SCH, OCD, and CN groups (p < 0.05) in the MRI-measured degree of the following nodes: the superior orbitofrontal gyrus (25Frontal_Med_Orb_L), lingual gyrus (47Lingual_L), postcentral gyrus (58Postcentral_R), and inferior temporal gyrus (90Temporal_Inf_R). Additionally, we found significant differences in the degree of the brain regions 02Precentral_R, 47Lingual_L, 58Postcentral_R, and 90Temporal_Inf_R between the CN, OCD, SCH, and LDP groups (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that alterations in the degree of nodes might be the mechanism behind obsessive-compulsive symptoms in schizophrenia.

OBJECTIVE: To detect the body surface temperature of the relevant back-shu points in patients with chronic persistent asthma by infrared thermal imaging technology, and observe the specific changes of the body surface temperature of the relevant back-shu points under the condition of lung disease. METHODS: Forty-five patients with chronic persistent asthma (observation group) and 45 healthy subjects (control group) were selected. The body surface temperature of bilateral Feishu (BL 13), Geshu (BL 17), Pishu (BL 20) and Shenshu (BL 23) were measured by BK-MT02A medical infrared thermography. RESULTS: The body surface temperature of bilateral Feishu (BL 13), Geshu (BL 17), Pishu (BL 20) and Shenshu (BL 23) in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.01, P<0.05). The body surface temperature of bilateral Feishu (BL 13) and Geshu (BL 17) was higher than that of ipsilateral Pishu (BL 20) and Shenshu (BL 23) in the two groups (P<0.01, P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in body surface temperature between ipsilateral Feishu (BL 13) and Geshu (BL 17), between ipsilateral Pishu (BL 20) and Shenshu (BL 23) (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: The pathological increase of body surface temperature of Feishu (BL 13), Geshu (BL 17), Pishu (BL 20) and Shenshu (BL 23) in patients with chronic persistent asthma indicates that above acupoints have specificity in reflecting lung diseases. The Feishu (BL 13) and Geshu (BL 17), which have significantly increased body surface temperature, not only provide objective basis for the pathological pathogenesis of "deficiency in origin and excess in symptom" in patients with chronic persistent asthma, but also reflect the different expressions of different acupoints on the same meridian for the lung diseases.
