RESUMEN

Herbs applicability in disease treatment has been verified through experiences over thousands of years. The understanding of herb-disease associations (HDAs) is yet far from complete due to the complicated mechanism inherent in multi-target and multi-component (MTMC) botanical therapeutics. Most of the existing prediction models fail to incorporate the MTMC mechanism. To overcome this problem, we propose a novel dual-channel hypergraph convolutional network, namely HGHDA, for HDA prediction. Technically, HGHDA first adopts an autoencoder to project components and target protein onto a low-dimensional latent space so as to obtain their embeddings by preserving similarity characteristics in their original feature spaces. To model the high-order relations between herbs and their components, we design a channel in HGHDA to encode a hypergraph that describes the high-order patterns of herb-component relations via hypergraph convolution. The other channel in HGHDA is also established in the same way to model the high-order relations between diseases and target proteins. The embeddings of drugs and diseases are then aggregated through our dual-channel network to obtain the prediction results with a scoring function. To evaluate the performance of HGHDA, a series of extensive experiments have been conducted on two benchmark datasets, and the results demonstrate the superiority of HGHDA over the state-of-the-art algorithms proposed for HDA prediction. Besides, our case study on Chuan Xiong and Astragalus membranaceus is a strong indicator to verify the effectiveness of HGHDA, as seven and eight out of the top 10 diseases predicted by HGHDA for Chuan-Xiong and Astragalus-membranaceus, respectively, have been reported in literature.

RESUMEN

Microsatellite instability (MSI) is a hypermutator phenotype caused by DNA mismatch repair deficiency. MSI has been reported in various human cancers, particularly colorectal, gastric and endometrial cancers. MSI is a promising biomarker for cancer prognosis and immune checkpoint blockade immunotherapy. Several computational methods have been developed for MSI detection using DNA- or RNA-based approaches based on next-generation sequencing. Epigenetic mechanisms, such as DNA methylation, regulate gene expression and play critical roles in the development and progression of cancer. We here developed MSI-XGNN, a new computational framework for predicting MSI status using bulk RNA-sequencing and DNA methylation data. MSI-XGNN is an explainable deep learning model that combines a graph neural network (GNN) model to extract features from the gene-methylation probe network with a CatBoost model to classify MSI status. MSI-XGNN, which requires tumor-only samples, exhibited comparable performance with two well-known methods that require tumor-normal paired sequencing data, MSIsensor and MANTIS and better performance than several other tools. MSI-XGNN also showed good generalizability on independent validation datasets. MSI-XGNN identified six MSI markers consisting of four methylation probes (EPM2AIP1|MLH1:cg14598950, EPM2AIP1|MLH1:cg27331401, LNP1:cg05428436 and TSC22D2:cg15048832) and two genes (RPL22L1 and MSH4) constituting the optimal feature subset. All six markers were significantly associated with beneficial tumor microenvironment characteristics for immunotherapy, such as tumor mutation burden, neoantigens and immune checkpoint molecules such as programmed cell death-1 and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4. Overall, our study provides a powerful and explainable deep learning model for predicting MSI status and identifying MSI markers that can potentially be used for clinical MSI evaluation.

As mimetic compounds of the natural alkaloid mackinazolinone, forty pyrido[1,2-a]thiazolo[5,4-d] pyrimidinone were designed and synthesized from a bioisosterism approach. The structure of these compounds was confirmed through analysis using 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and HRMS techniques. All the compounds were evaluated for their anticholinesterase activities and cytotoxicity on normal cells (293 T) by the Ellman method and methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) method in vitro. and the structure-activity relationships (SARs) were summarized. The results showed that most of the compounds effectively inhibited acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in the micromolar range with weak cytotoxicity. Compound 7o exhibited the best inhibitory activity against AChE, displaying an IC50 values of 1.67 ± 0.09 µM and an inhibitory constant Ki of 11.31 µM as a competitive inhibitor to AChE. Molecular docking indicated that compound 7o may bind to AChE via hydrogen bond and π-π stacking. Further molecular dynamics (MD) simulations indicated a relatively low binding free energy (- 27.91 kJ·mol-1) of compound 7o with AChE. In summary, the collective findings suggested that 7o was promising as a potential novel drug candidate worthy of further investigation for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

SUMMARY: Characterizing biomarkers based on microbiome profiles has great potential for translational medicine and precision medicine. Here, we present microbiomeMarker, an R/Bioconductor package implementing commonly used normalization and differential analysis (DA) methods, and three supervised learning models to identify microbiome markers. microbiomeMarker also allows comparison of different methods of DA and confounder analysis. It uses standardized input and output formats, which renders it highly scalable and extensible, and allows it to seamlessly interface with other microbiome packages and tools. In addition, the package provides a set of functions to visualize and interpret the identified microbiome markers. AVAILABILITY AND IMPLEMENTATION: microbiomeMarker is freely available from Bioconductor (https://www.bioconductor.org/packages/microbiomeMarker). BACKGROUND: The prognosis of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) has improved significantly with current first-line therapy, although the recurrence of B-ALL is still a problem. Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) agonists have shown good safety and efficiency as immune adjuvants. Apart from their immune regulatory effect, the direct effect of TLR9 agonists on cancer cells with TLR9 expression cannot be ignored. However, the direct effect of TLR9 agonists on B-ALL remains unknown. METHODS: We discussed the relationship between TLR9 expression and the clinical characteristics of B-ALL and explored whether CpG 685 exerts direct apoptotic effect on B-ALL without inhibiting normal B-cell function. By using western blot, co-immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence co-localization, and chromatin immunoprecipitation, we explored the mechanism of the apoptosis-inducing effect of CpG 685 in treating B-ALL cells. By exploring the mechanism of CpG 685 on B-ALL, the predictive biomarkers of the efficacy of CpG 685 in treating B-ALL were explored. These efficiencies were also confirmed in mouse model as well as clinical samples. RESULTS: High expression of TLR9 in B-ALL patients showed good prognosis. C-MYC-induced BAX activation was the key to the effect of CpG oligodeoxynucleotides against B-ALL. C-MYC overexpression promoted P53 stabilization, enhanced Bcl-2 associated X-protein (BAX) activation, and mediated transcription of the BAX gene. Moreover, combination therapy using CpG 685 and imatinib, a BCR-ABL kinase inhibitor, could reverse resistance to CpG 685 or imatinib alone by promoting BAX activation and overcoming BCR-ABL1-independent PI3K/AKT activation. CONCLUSION: TLR9 is not only a prognostic biomarker but also a potential target for B-ALL therapy. CpG 685 monotherapy might be applicable to Ph- B-ALL patients with C-MYC overexpression and without BAX deletion. CpG 685 may also serve as an effective combinational therapy against Ph+ B-ALL.

RESUMEN

Liver cancer is one of the most common malignancies, with severe morbidity and mortality. While considerable progress has been made in liver cancer treatment, the 5-year overall survival (OS) of patients has not improved significantly. Reasons include the inadequate capability of early screening and diagnosis, a high incidence of recurrence and metastasis, a high degree of tumor heterogeneity, and an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. Therefore, the identification and validation of specific and robust liver cancer biomarkers are of major importance for early screening, timely diagnosis, accurate prognosis, and the prevention of tumor progression. In this review, we highlight some of the latest research progress and potential applications of liver cancer biomarkers, describing hotspots and prospective directions in biomarker discovery.

PURPOSE: Xijiao Dihuang Tang (XJDHT) is a classical formula of traditional Chinese medicine constituted of Cornu Bubali, Rehmannia glutinosa (Gaertn.) DC., Paeonia lactiflora Pall., and Paeonia suffruticosa Andrews. It was first mentioned in the medical classic "Beiji Qianjin Yaofang" written by Simiao Sun in Tang Dynasty. It shows very strong antipyretic and anticoagulant effects and has been clinically applied to treat various type of blood loss, purple and black spots, heat stroke, and glossitis. Kawasaki disease (KD) is considered as a kind of acute febrile illness in children with systemic vasculitis as the main lesions. The aim of this research is to clarify whether XJDHT can play a protective role in KD. METHODS: A mouse model of Candida albicans water-soluble fraction (CAWS)-induced coronary arteritis and a KD cell model with tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α induction were employed to investigate the potential effect and mechanism of XJDHT on coronary artery injury in KD. RESULTS: Data showed that XJDHT remarkably alleviated the coronary artery injury of KD mice, as evidenced by reduced inflammation and downregulated expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin (IL)-1ß and TNF-α. In vitro investigation showed that XJDHT could promote cell proliferation, inhibit cell apoptosis, and improve mitochondrial functions. Subsequent studies demonstrated that XJDHT rescued endothelial cell injury by PI3K/Akt-NFκB signaling pathway. Component analysis of XJDHT detected thirty-eight chemically active ingredients, including paeoniflorin, albiflorin, and paeoniflorigenone, which in in vitro experiments exhibited significant rescue effects on TNF-α-mediated endothelial cell injury. CONCLUSION: Our findings demonstrated that XJDHT mitigated coronary artery injury of KD through suppressing endothelial cell damage via PI3K/Akt-NFκB signaling.

Platinum-based chemotherapy is the primary treatment option for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients without a driver gene mutation, but its efficacy is still modest. Through a potential synergistic effect, autologous cellular immunotherapy (CIT) composed of cytokine-induced killer (CIK), natural killer (NK), and T cells might enhance it. NK cells exhibited in vitro cytotoxicity toward lung cancer cells (A549 cells) following platinum therapy. Using flow cytometry, the expression of MICA, MICB, DR4, DR5, CD112, and CD155 on lung cancer cells was assessed. In this retrospective cohort study, there were included 102 previously untreated stage IIIB/IV NSCLC patients ineligible for tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) target therapy who received either chemotherapy alone (n=75) or combination therapy (n=27). The cytotoxicity of NK cells for A549 cells was increased obviously and a time-dependent enhancement of this effect was also observed. After platinum therapy, the levels of MICA, MICB, DR4, DR5, CD112, and CD155 on the surface of A549 cells were increased. In the combination group, the median PFS was 8.3 months, compared to 5.5 months in the control group (p=0.042); the median overall survival was 18.00 months, compared to 13.67 months in the combined group (p=0.003). The combination group had no obvious immune-related adverse effects. The combination of NK cells with platinum showed synergistic anticancer effects. Combining the two strategies increased survival with minor adverse effects. Incorporating CIT into conventional chemotherapy regimens may improve NSCLC treatment. However, additional evidence will require multicenter randomized controlled trials.

The chemical transformation of the tricyclic furo[2,3-d]pyrimidines was performed under isosteric and scaffold-hopping strategies focusing on the synthesis of its arylidene and imine-containing derivatives. Naturally-occurring alkaloids mackinazolinone and isaindigotone were as templates of target heterocycles. Synthesized compounds evaluated for their antitumor activity on human cancer cervical HeLa, breast MCF-7, and colon HT-29 cell lines. Four compounds: 8c, 8e, 10b, and 10c demonstrated potency against HeLa and HT-29 cell lines, and IC50 values were between 7.37-13.72 µM, respectively. The molecular docking results showed that compounds 8c and 10b had good binding and high matching with the target EGFR protein.

RESUMEN

We report a case of cholesteatoma that caused left facial pain with facial numbness. The tumour was located in the left cerebellopontine angle (CPA) and Meckel's cave. A balloon was first placed into Meckel's cave, and then, under electrophysiological monitoring, the tumour within the CPA cistern was resected via the retrosigmoid approach. The balloon was inflated in Meckel's cave to push the tumour out of Meckel's cave, and then, the tumour was completely removed under endoscopy. The symptoms, including pain and numbness, subsided after surgery.

The 2 µm wavelength belongs to the eye-safe band and has a wide range of applications in the fields of lidar, biomedicine, and materials processing. With the rapid development of military, wind power, sensing, and other industries, new requirements for 2 µm solid-state laser light sources have emerged, especially in the field of lidar. This paper focuses on the research progress of 2 µm solid-state lasers for lidar over the past decade. The technology and performance of 2 µm pulsed single longitudinal mode solid-state lasers, 2 µm seed solid-state lasers, and 2 µm high power solid-state lasers are, respectively, summarized and analyzed. This paper also introduces the properties of gain media commonly used in the 2 µm band, the construction method of new bonded crystals, and the fabrication method of saturable absorbers. Finally, the future prospects of 2 µm solid-state lasers for lidar are presented.

Koi herpesvirus (KHV) is highly contagious and lethal to cyprinid fish, causing significant economic losses to the carp aquaculture industry, particularly to koi carp breeders. Vaccines delivered through intramuscular needle injection or gene gun are not suitable for mass vaccination of carp. So, the development of cost-effective oral vaccines that are easily applicable at a farm level is highly desirable. In this study, we utilized chitosan-alginate capsules as an oral delivery system for a live probiotic (Lactobacillus rhamnosus) vaccine, pYG-KHV-ORF81/LR CIQ249, expressing KHV ORF81 protein. The tolerance of the encapsulated recombinant Lactobacillus to various digestive environments and the ability of the probiotic strain to colonize the intestine of carp was tested. The immunogenicity and the protective efficacy of the encapsulated probiotic vaccine was evaluated by determining IgM levels, lymphocyte proliferation, expression of immune-related genes, and viral challenge to vaccinated fish. It was clear that the chitosan-alginate capsules protected the probiotic vaccine effectively against extreme digestive environments, and a significant level (P < 0.01) of antigen-specific IgM with KHV-neutralizing activity was detected, which provided a protection rate of ca. 85% for koi carp against KHV challenge. The strategy of using chitosan-alginate capsules to deliver probiotic vaccines is easily applicable for mass oral vaccination of fish.IMPORTANCE An oral probiotic vaccine, pYG-KHV-ORF81/LR CIQ249, encapsulated by chitosan-alginate capsules as an oral delivery system was developed for koi carp against koi herpesvirus (KHV) infection. This encapsulated probiotic vaccine can be protected from various digestive environments and maintain effectively high viability, showing a good tolerance to digestive environments. This encapsulated probiotic vaccine has a good immunogenicity in koi carp via oral vaccination, and a significant level of antigen-specific IgM was effectively induced after oral vaccination, displaying effective KHV-neutralizing activity. This encapsulated probiotic vaccine can provide effective protection for koi carp against KHV challenge, which is handling-stress free for the fish, cost effective, and suitable for the mass oral vaccination of koi carp at a farm level, suggesting a promising vaccine strategy for fish.

Glyphosate-based herbicide (GBH) is a popular herbicide, which may contaminate the water environment and affect aquatic animals. In this study, testes morphology, physiology function, apoptosis pathway, and spermatozoa quality of Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis) were evaluated after 7 days of GBH exposure (48.945 mg/l,1/2 of the 96 h LC50 value of GBH). Results showed that GBH induced spermatogenesis disorder by H.E. staining. The obvious vacuolar degenerations and fewer spermatids of the testes accompanied by decreased primary spermatocytes-type seminiferous tubules (PSc-STs) were observed. The extensive apoptosis of spermatids by TUNEL staining was visible. Meanwhile, testes'' characteristic enzyme activities associated with spermatogenesis, including lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and acid phosphatase (ACP) were significantly decreased. Testes suffered oxidative damage as reflected by the significant decrease in superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities, the significant increase in malondialdehyde (MDA) contents, and heat shock proteins (HSP-70) mRNA expression. Further studies demonstrated that GBH induced apoptosis of testes through the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway by upregulating the relative mRNA expression of cysteinyl aspartate specific proteinase 3 (Caspase-3), Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax), and downregulating B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2). Oxidative damage may be one of the causes of GBH-induced apoptosis in testes. After GBH exposure, the morphology of spermatophores was changed. The survival and the acrosome reaction (AR) ratio of spermatozoa was significantly decreased. Altogether, these results demonstrated that GBH affects spermatogenesis, spermatophore and spermatozoa quality of E.sinensis, which provides novel knowledge about the toxic effects of GBH on the reproductive system of crustaceans.

Cancer stemness, chemoresistance, and metastasis are related biological events. However, whether they have common molecular mechanisms remains to be determined. Here, we report that imiquimod (IMQ) facilitates the acquisition of stem-cell-like properties and chemoresistance via the upregulation of matrix metalloproteinase 1 (MMP1) and downregulation of microRNA-145 (miR-145). MiR-145-5p was found to suppress MMP1 expression through direct binding, and miR-145-mediated downregulation of MMP1 reversed the effects of IMQ. In addition, IMQ downregulated miR-145 by promoting DNA methylation at its promoter. DNA methyltransferase inhibitors limited IMQ-induced MMP1 expression, stemness, and chemoresistance. Collectively, our results highlight the miR-145-MMP1 axis as a potential coordinator of cancer stemness and chemoresistance. Given the role of MMP1 in the initiation of metastasis, the miR-145-MMP1 axis serves as a promising therapeutic target for improved cancer treatment.

Nineteen new talaroenamine derivatives, talaroenamines F1-F19 (1-19), were isolated from the Yellow River wetland derived Penicillium malacosphaerulum HPU-J01 by use of a one-pot/two-stage precursor-directed biosynthesis approach. During this approach, the initial precursor p-methylaniline was first used as a carrier to capture the biologically synthesized cyclohexanedione to produce talaroenamine F, and then the other aniline derivatives were employed to replace the p-methylaniline fragment of talaroenamine F to generate the final products. LC-MS analysis showed that only four compounds (2, 8, 10, and 12) could be produced by the traditional precursor-directed biosynthesis in which the aniline precursors were added simultaneously. Compound 14 was cytotoxic against the K562 cell line with an IC50 value of 2.2 µM. This work demonstrated the one-pot/two-stage precursor-directed biosynthesis could improve substrate acceptance leading to the production of diverse talaroenamines.

Vitiligo is a common chronic dermatological abnormality that afflicts tens of millions of people. Furocoumarins isolated from Uygur traditional medicinal material Psoralen corylifolia L. have been proven to be highly effective for the treatment of vitiligo. Although many furocoumarin derivatives with anti-vitiligo activity have been synthesized, their targets with respect to the disease are still ambiguous. Fortunately, the JAKs were identified as potential targets for the disease and its inhibitors have been proved to be effective in the treatment of vitiligo in many clinical trials. Thus, sixty-five benzene sulfonate and benzoate derivatives of furocoumarins (7a-7ad, 8a-8ag) with superior anti-vitiligo activity targeting JAKs were designed and synthesized based on preliminary research. The SAR was characterized after the anti-vitiligo-activity evaluation in B16 cells. Twenty-two derivatives showed more potent effects on melanin synthesis in B16 cells than the positive control (8-MOP). Among them, compounds 7y and 8 not only could increase melanin content, but they also improved the catecholase activity of tyrosinase in a concentration-dependent manner. The docking studies indicated that they were able to interact with amino acid residues in JAK1 and JAK2 via hydrogen bonds. Furthermore, candidate 8 showed a moderate inhibition of CXCL-10, which plays an important role in JAK-STAT signaling. The RT-PCR and Western blotting analyses illustrated that compounds 7y and 8 promoted melanogenesis by activating the p38 MAPK and Akt/GSK-3ß/ß-catenin pathways, as well as increasing the expressions of the MITF and tyrosinase-family genes. Finally, furocoumarin derivative 8 was recognized as a promising candidate for the fight against the disease and worthy of further research in vivo.

Psoralen, a major furocoumarin component of the Fructus Psoralen (FP), in combination with ultraviolet radiation, cures abnormal pigmentation disorder. In a previous study, we synthesized a series of linear furocoumarins with different substituents, out of which 5-((diethylamino)methyl)-3-phenyl-7H-furo [3,2-g] chromen-7-one (encoded as 5D3PC) showed better pigmenting effect than others in B16 cells. In this study, we examined the mechanism underlying the melanogenic effect of 5D3PC both in vivo and in vitro. To examine the pigmentation effect, the B16 and human melanocyte cell lines, PIG1 and PIG3V melanocytes were incubated with 5D3PC. In animal experiments, C57BL/6 mice received 5% hydroquinone and were administrated with 5D3PC for 30 days. 5D3PC upregulated the melanin synthesis and tyrosinase in B16 cell, PIG1 and PIG3V. The expression level of tyrosinase (TYR), tyrosinase-related protein-1 (TRP-1) and tyrosinase-related protein-2 (TRP-2), microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF), cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), phosphorylation of cAMP-responsive element binding protein (p-CREB), phosphorylation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), c- phosphorylation of Jun N-terminal kinase (p-JNK) was significantly higher in 5D3PC-treated B16 cells. The oral administration of 5D3PC attenuated the depigmentation of the C57BL/6 vitiligo mice model by increasing the numbers of melanin-containing hair follicles, melanogenic protein, and melanogenesis-relative genes expression in skin tissues.

Scholars usually ignore the non-equilibrium condensing effects in turbulence-model comparative studies on supersonic steam ejectors. In this study, a non-equilibrium condensation model considering real physical properties was coupled respectively with seven turbulence models. They are the k-ε Standard, k-ε RNG, k-ε Realizable, k-ω Standard, k-ω SST, Transition SST, and Linear Reynolds Stress Model. Simulation results were compared with the experiment results globally and locally. The complex flow phenomena in the steam ejector captured by different models, including shock waves, choking, non-equilibrium condensation, boundary layer separation, and vortices were discussed. The reasons for the differences in simulation results were explained and compared. The relationship between ejector performance and local flow phenomena was illustrated. The novelty lies in the conclusions that consider the non-equilibrium condensing effects. Results show that the number and type of shock waves predicted by different turbulence models are different. Non-equilibrium condensation and boundary layer separation regions obtained by various turbulence models are different. Comparing the ejector performance and the complex flow phenomena with the experimental results, the k-ω SST model is proposed to simulate supersonic steam ejectors.

Resolution is an intuitive assessment for the visual quality of images, which is limited by physical devices. Recently, image super-resolution (SR) models based on deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have made significant progress. However, most existing SR models require high computational costs with network depth, hindering practical application. In addition, these models treat intermediate features equally and rarely explore the discriminative capacity hidden in their abundant features. To tackle these issues, we propose an attention network with information distillation(AIDN) for efficient and accurate image super-resolution, which adaptively modulates the feature responses by modeling the interactions between channel dimension and spatial features. Specifically, gated channel transformation (GCT) is introduced to gather global contextual information among different channels to modulate intermediate high-level features. Moreover, a recalibrated attention module (RAM) is proposed to rescale these feature responses, and RAM concentrates the essential contents around spatial locations. Benefiting from the gated channel transformation and spatial information masks working jointly, our proposed AIDN can obtain a more powerful ability to identify information. It effectively improves computational efficiency while improving reconstruction accuracy. Comprehensive quantitative and qualitative evaluations demonstrate that our AIDN outperforms state-of-the-art models in terms of reconstruction performance and visual quality.

BACKGROUND: Glucocorticoid-induced tumor necrosis factor receptor family-related protein ligand (GITRL) plays an important role in tumors, autoimmunity and inflammation. However, GITRL is not known to modulate the pathogenesis of allergic asthma. In this study, we investigated whether regulating GITRL expressed on dendritic cells (DCs) can prevent asthma and to elucidate its mechanism of action. METHODS: In vivo, the role of GITRL in modulating house dust mite (HDM)-induced asthma was assessed in adeno-associated virus (AAV)-shGITRL mice. In vitro, the role of GITRL expression by DCs was evaluated in LV-shGITRL bone marrow dendritic cells (BMDCs) under HDM stimulation. And the direct effect of GITRL was observed by stimulating splenocytes with GITRL protein. The effect of regulating GITRL on CD4+ T cell differentiation was detected. Further, GITRL mRNA in the peripheral blood of asthmatic children was tested. RESULTS: GITRL was significantly increased in HDM-challenged mice. In GITRL knockdown mice, allergen-induced airway inflammation, serum total IgE levels and airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR) were reduced. In vitro, GITRL expression on BMDCs was increased after HDM stimulation. Further, knocking down GITRL on DCs partially restored the balance of Th1/Th2 and Th17/Treg cells. Moreover, GITRL stimulation in vitro inhibited Treg cell differentiation and promoted Th2 and Th17 cell differentiation. Similarly, GITRL mRNA expression was increased in the peripheral blood from asthmatic children. CONCLUSIONS: This study identified a novel role for GITRL expressed by DCs as a positive regulator of CD4+ T cells responses in asthma, which implicates that GITRL inhibitors may be a potential immunotherapy for asthma.
