RESUMEN

Analysis of the efficacy of Grippferon vs. the reference drugs Realdiron and Reaferon-EC against the influenza virus A(H1N1)/2009 in susceptible static cell cultures showed that in the concentrations tested it was efficient in inhibition of the virus cytopathic activity and generation of specific hemagglutinin.

RESUMEN

AIM: To study the effectiveness of system for prevention of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in military teams and determine the main ways for its improvement. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Data on incidence of CAP in military staff during 1993 - 2008 were used. Analysis of morbidity was performed using classical methods of epidemiological analysis. RESULTS: Registered incidence of CAP in military staff was 5 - 7 times higher compared with average incidence in adult population of the country. Main factors determining realization of CAP epidemic process mechanisms in military teams were revealed. Two-fold and more rise in incidence of CAP and acute respiratory infection in military recruits is forecasted for 2010. Effect of use of Pneumo 23 vaccine for freshmen recruits is grounded. CONCLUSION: Immunization of military staff with Pneumo 23 vaccine considered effective and needed component in complex of prophylactic measures performed in troops.

RESUMEN

The article presents actual questions of epidemiology of outhospital pneumonia (OP), peculiarities of epidemic process of these infections in troops in now-day conditions and updates of main directions of their prophylaxis. It was marked that alongside with clearly defined tendency of lowing, the morbidity by OP in the Armed Forces of RF is still rather high--in 5-7 folds higher than among adult population of the country. Whereby it is predicted further complication of sanitarium-epidemiological situation in connection with increase of call-up. The article uncovers the main factors, supplying the realization of mechanism of epidemic process of OP in military collectives. Vaccination of staff by registered in RF multipartial pneumococcal vaccine Pnevmo-23 is considered as an effective and necessary medical measure in complex of prophylactic measures, effectuating in troops.

RESUMEN

The prophylactic action of arbidol to prevent the acute respiratory viral infections and their complications (extra-hospital pneumonia) was studied under conditions of two military collectives during winter and summer time. The data obtained confirm the prophylactic activity of the drug in respect of ARVI. Regardless of the degree of disease epidemic rise among the servicemen who didn't take arbitol the minimal threshold of grippe and other ARVI incidence (10-15%) remained in the experimental group. The incidence of pneumonia decreased. It was connected with decrease in viral-and-bacterial pneumonia. The number of patients with bacterial (generally pneumococcal) pneumonia didn't change.

RESUMEN

The authors present the results of study of arbidolum therapeutic-and-prophylactic effectiveness in acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) under conditions of military staff with determination of economic expediency. Coefficient of effectiveness of arbidolum prophylactic use was 25% and efficiency index--1.33. In experimental group the ARVI complicated forms were noted in 3% of the patients and in control group--in 5%. Due to decreased expenses on the treatment of non-complicated and complicated ARVI forms the cost of therapy of one servicemen in the first group was 290.6 rubles, in the second group--323 rubles, in the third group--336 rubles and in the fourth group--368 rubles. The results of investigation have shown the significant advantage of arbidolum therapeutic-and-prophylactic use compared with other variants. Its use permitted to decrease the febrile period, to reduce the manifestation of symptoms of intoxication and affection of upper respiratory tract.

RESUMEN

The results obtained during the study of antigeneity of inactivated vaccines against hepatitis A ("Avaxim", France; "Hep-A-in-VAC", Russia; "Havrix", Belgium) used in troop units and RF MD institutions are presented in the article. The aim of the investigation is choice of the drug that provides the production of antibody protective levels in maximally short periods. It is very important for the army collectives sent to the zones of armed conflicts and HAV epidemic centres. It is shown that the most acceptable vaccine is "Avaxim" that provides the highest percentage of seroconversion (93.75%) with antibody level not less than 125 mIU/ml. It is recommended to consider this level as the protective one in conditions of army collectives.

RESUMEN

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group clinical study with an extra non-treatment group was performed to measure the effect of a single dose of standardized SHR-5 Rhodiola rosea extract on capacity for mental work against a background of fatigue and stress. An additional objective was to investigate a possible difference between two doses, one dose being chosen as the standard mean dose in accordance with well-established medicinal use as a psychostimulant/adaptogen, the other dose being 50% higher. Some physiological parameters, e.g. pulse rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, were also measured. The study was carried out on a highly uniform population comprising 161 cadets aged from 19 to 21 years. All groups were found to have very similar initial data, with no significant difference with regard to any parameter. The study showed a pronounced antifatigue effect reflected in an antifatigue index defined as a ratio called AFI. The verum groups had AFI mean values of 1.0385 and 1.0195, 2 and 3 capsules respectively, whilst the figure for the placebo group was 0.9046. This was statistically highly significant (p < 0.001) for both doses (verum groups), whilst no significant difference between the two dosage groups was observed. There was a possible trend in favour of the lower dose in the psychometric tests. No such trend was found in the physiological tests.
