BACKGROUND: Lichenoid vulvar dermatoses (LVD) are inflammatory diseases primarily affecting the vulva and anus. This study aims to evaluate the skin changes in patients with LVD using high-frequency ultrasound. METHODS: Forty-five patients with LVD, who attended Henan Provincial People's Hospital from November 2021 to March 2024, were selected. According to the pathological conclusions, patients were divided into two groups: the vulvar lichen sclerosus (VLS) group (n = 24) and the vulvar lichen simplex chronicus (VLSC) group (n = 21). Thirty age- and BMI-matched healthy women were selected as the control group. We assessed the epidermal thickness, subepidermal low echogenic band (SLEB) thickness, dermal thickness, and vascular index (VI) among the three groups. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis was performed to determine the diagnostic efficacy of these ultrasound parameters for LVD. Binary logistic regression was used to investigate risk factors influencing LVD pathology in VLS patients. RESULTS: Epidermal thickness, SLEB thickness, dermal thickness, and VI were increased in the VLS and VLSC groups compared to the control group (p < 0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in ultrasound parameters between the VLS and VLSC groups (p > 0.05). The ROC curves showed that the area under the curve (AUC) value for the dermis (AUC = 0.882) was the largest for VLS, and VI (AUC = 0.917), it was the largest for VLSC. Binary logistic regression indicated that having an allergic disease was a risk factor for VLS between VLS and VLSC groups (OR = 6.797, p = 0.028). CONCLUSION: High-frequency ultrasound can detect thickening of the skin and increasing VI in patients with LVD, which can be helpful in the evaluation and management of LVD.

BACKGROUND: Prurigo nodularis (PN) is an extremely pruritic, chronic inflammatory skin disease. Little is known about systemic inflammation in PN. OBJECTIVE: To characterize plasma inflammatory biomarkers in patients with PN and investigate the presence of disease endotypes. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, Olink proteomic analysis was performed on plasma samples from patients with PN (n = 29) and healthy controls (n = 18). RESULTS: Patients with PN had increased levels of 8 circulating biomarkers compared to controls, including tumor necrosis factor, C-X-C Motif Chemokine Ligand 9, interleukin-12B, and tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 9 (P < .05). Two PN clusters were identified in cluster 1 (n = 13) and cluster 2 (n = 16). Cluster 2 had higher levels of 25 inflammatory markers than cluster 1. Cluster 1 had a greater percentage of patients with a history of myelopathy and spinal disc disease compared with cluster 2 (69% vs 25%, P = .03). Patients in cluster 2 were more likely to have a history of atopy (38% in cluster 2 vs 8% in cluster 1, P = .09). LIMITATIONS: Small sample size precludes robust subgroup analyses. CONCLUSION: This study provides evidence of neuroimmune-biased endotypes in PN and can aid clinicians in managing patients with PN that are nonresponsive to traditional therapies.

There are no previous studies of the psychopathology associated with different aetiologies of chronic pruritus. A systematic review was performed of cohort and case-control studies comparing healthy controls with patients with chronic pruritus related to primary dermatoses, systemic diseases, psychogenic pruritus, idiopathic pruritus, prurigo nodularis and/or lichen simplex chronicus. The review was registered in PROSPERO and performed according to the PRISMA statement, which allowed the inclusion of 26 studies. The quality of eligible studies was assessed using the modified Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. Most of the studies concern primary dermatoses and systemic diseases. Sleep disorders are a common comorbidity interrelated with pruritus, anxiety and depressive symptoms, in primary dermatoses. Sleep disorders are linked with pruritus and depressive symptoms in end-stage renal disease and hepatobiliary disease. Depressive and anxiety symptoms are associated with psychogenic pruritus. Psychogenic pruritus, lichen simplex chronicus and some primary dermatoses are linked with personality characteristics. Further studies are required to explore in depth the psychopathology linked with psychogenic pruritus and prurigo nodularis, as well as psychopathology linked with other primary dermatoses and systemic disorders associated with chronic pruritus, and to better differentiate psychogenic pruritus from psychopathological characteristics linked with other aetiologies of chronic pruritus, in order to improve the management of patients with chronic pruritus.

Prurigo nodularis (PN) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition characterized by the presence of pruritic nodules. Dupilumab was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration in September 2022 and Health Canada in July 2023 for the treatment of PN. Dupilumab is a human monoclonal immunoglobulin G4 antibody that binds the interleukin (IL)-4 receptor alpha subunit, blocking intercellular signalling of IL-4 and IL-13. Inhibition of these cytokines downregulates the inflammatory response and improves disease severity and pruritus. Two randomized controlled trials have shown dupilumab to be effective in reducing pruritus and lesion count in patients with PN. The approval of dupilumab for PN represents the first approved therapy for PN and may indicate a paradigm shift in the way this condition is treated.

BACKGROUND: Prurigo nodularis (PN) is an understudied, pruritic inflammatory skin disease. Little is known about the effect of PN on quality of life and its associated economic burden. OBJECTIVE: To quantify the impact of PN on quality of life and its economic implications. METHODS: A cohort study of PN patients (n = 36) was conducted using the Health Utilities Index Mark 3 questionnaire. Control data from US adults (n = 4187) were obtained from the 2002-2003 Joint Canada/United States Survey of Health. Quality-adjusted life year loss and economic costs were estimated by comparing the Health Utilities Index Mark 3 scores of the PN patients with those of the controls. RESULTS: The PN patients had lower overall health performance compared to the controls, (mean ± SE, 0.52 ± 0.06 vs 0.86 ± 0.003, respectively, P < .001). In multivariable regression, PN was found to be associated with worse health performance (coefficient -0.34, 95% CI [-0.46 to -0.23]), most prominent in the pain subdomain (coefficient -0.24, 95% CI [-0.35 to -0.13]). This correlated to an average of 6.5 lifetime quality-adjusted life years lost per patient, translating to an individual lifetime economic burden of $323,292 and a societal burden of $38.8 billion. CONCLUSION: These results demonstrate that PN is associated with significant quality-of-life impairment, similar to the level of other chronic systemic conditions. PN is also associated with a substantial individual economic burden, emphasizing the necessity of research on effective treatment options.

BACKGROUND: Lichen simplex chronicus (LSC) is characterized by localized lichenification and intense itching. It has been reported that the added use of liquid nitrogen cryotherapy (LNC) for LSC has significant efficacy and notable safety. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis based on existing randomized controlled trials (RCTs). METHOD: We searched RCTs on LNC for LSC published up to August 2020 using various databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, China Network Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese Biomedicine (CBM), Chinese Scientific Journals Database (VIP), and WanFang Database. Other studies were manually identified using the references cited in reviews. We applied fixed- or random-effects models, and all analyses were performed using Review Manager 5.4 software. RESULTS: Twelve RCTs involving 1,066 participants provided eligible data for the meta-analysis. Based on the clinical effective rate, LNC treatment of LSC (risk ratio, RR 1.25, p = 0.005, I2 = 82%) was superior to controls. Subgroup analysis showed that the use of LNC alone (RR 1.04, I2 = 95%, p > 0.05) is not more effective than other therapies in the treatment of LSC, but the addition of LNC to the existing treatment increases the total clinical efficacy. Furthermore, the combined effect of LNC and topical medication (RR 1.39, I2 = 0%, p < 0.0001) was better than that of LNC and oral medication (RR 1.30, I2 = 0%, p < 0.00001). Greater frequency of LNC treatment did not improve the efficacy (thrice a week: RR 1.39 [1.21, 1.60]; twice a week: RR 1.27; once every 2 weeks: RR 1.32). Data from 6 RCTs with 508 participants showed no significant difference in AEs (p = 0.31) associated with added LNC treatment. CONCLUSION: The addition of LNC (applying a cotton swab soaked with liquid nitrogen to wipe the lesion for approximately 10 s each time) to topical ointments, is effective and safe in the treatment of LSC. Increasing the treatment frequency of LNC did not necessarily improve the efficacy.

Lichen simplex chronicus is a form of chronic localized pruritus with a secondary dermatitis, and one of the most common types of chronic itch conditions, estimated to affect more than 10% of the general population. However, despite its prevalence and burden, there has been limited research into the pathogenesis and aetiology of lichen simplex chronicus, which, historically, made it a challenging condition to treat. In recent years, our understanding of this condition, along with that of pruritus and the itch-scratch cycle, has increased greatly, enabling a substantial increase in treatment options. In addition, there are several new promising treatments currently in development and trials. This article discusses the definition, epidemiology, clinical characteristics, pathophysiology, and current therapeutic options for lichen simplex chronicus, in order to highlight recent advancements in this field.

While dialysis is linked with prurigo nodularis, little is known about the impact of non-dialysis chronic kidney disease on prurigo nodularis. The influence of chronic kidney disease on development of prurigo nodularis was measured using the Korean National Health Insurance and National Health Screening Program data, identifying 17,295,576 individuals without prior prurigo nodularis. Chronic kidney disease severity was determined by the estimated glomerular filtration rate (in ml/min/1.73 m2) calculated from serum creatinine, and proteinuria detected with urine dipstick. Prurigo nodularis incidence during follow-up was determined. Over a median follow-up period of 9.72 years, 58,599 individuals developed prurigo nodularis, with an incidence rate of 3.59 per 10,000 person-years. Among different variables, estimated glomerular filtration rate was the strongest risk factor for prurigo nodularis. Compared with estimated glomerular filtration rate ≥ 90, estimat-ed glomerular filtration rate 15-29 (hazard ratio 1.31, 95% confidence interval 1.05-1.62) and end-stage renal disease (hazard ratio 1.46, 95% confidence interval 1.25-1.69) were associated with higher risks. The presence of proteinuria independently increased the risk of prurigo nodularis, increased risks associated with estimated glomerular filtration rate 15-29 and end-stage renal disease, and caused risk associated with estimated glomerular filtration rate 30-59 to become significant. With differential impact of chronic kidney disease severity on the risk of prurigo nodularis, preservation of renal function would potentially translate into lower risk of prurigo nodularis.

Scalp dysaesthesia, considered a variant of the cutaneous dysaesthesia syndrome, is characterized by chronic sensory symptoms, including pruritus, pain, burning and stinging in a well-defined location, without objective findings. Its aetiology is not well elucidated and treatment options are limited, thus it can be challenging and frustrating for both patient and physician. It can be associated with lichen simplex chronicus. In this paper, we review the literature on the pathogenetic factors, diagnostic methods and therapeutic options in the management of scalp dysaesthesia. Dissociation, cervical spine disease and muscle tension seem to be the most important pathogenetic factors. Trichoscopy, reflectance confocal microscopy and biopsy are all helpful for the diagnosis of the disease. Therapies include high-potency topical or intralesional corticosteroids, capsaicin and topical anaesthetics, sedative antihistamines, tricyclic antidepressants, transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation, botulinum toxin and vitamin B12.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study was to evaluate clinicopathologic features of cases demonstrating an acanthotic tissue reaction not clearly consistent with psoriasis, lichen simplex chronicus, mycosis, or condyloma. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a retrospective pathologic case series of biopsies reported as "benign acanthotic lesion" and "acanthotic tissue reaction" that lacked a clear diagnosis on expert review. Cases with nuclear atypia were excluded. Clinical and histopathologic data were collected, immunohistochemistry for p16 and p53 were obtained, and molecular testing for 28 common anogenital human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes was undertaken. RESULTS: There were 17 cases with a median age of 47 years. Unilaterality and medial location were clinical reasons for diagnostic difficulty. Histopathologic uncertainty often related to lack of papillary dermal fibrosis to support lichen simplex chronicus or psoriasiform lesions without parakeratosis, subcorneal pustules, and/or mycotic elements. Firm pathologic diagnoses were not possible, but 3 groups emerged: favoring chronic dermatitis, favoring psoriasis, and unusual morphologies. p16 results were negative or nonblock positive while p53 was normal or basal overexpressed. Human papillomavirus testing was negative in 12, low positive for HPV 16 in 1, unassessable in 3, and not requested in 1. CONCLUSIONS: There is a group of acanthotic tissue reactions that cannot be classified with standard histopathologic assessment. Further clinicopathologic research into unilateral acanthotic lesions may provide insight into separation of psoriasis and mycosis when organisms are absent. Once nuclear atypia is excluded, immunohistochemistry for p16 and p53 and HPV molecular testing do not assist in diagnostic identification.

OBJECTIVE: Nonvenereal genital dermatoses may be a reason for considerable concern to the patient and often pose diagnostic dilemma to the treating physicians. The objective of the present study was to find out the demographical and clinical profile of nonvenereal genital dermatoses including systemic comorbidities in a tertiary care hospital. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This was an observational study, carried out at the outpatient department of dermatology of a tertiary care hospital of Eastern India over a period of 12 months. Female patients with genital lesions were included in the study after excluding venereal disease. Results were tabulated and analyzed. RESULTS: A total of 189 female patients were evaluated having 39 different dermatoses. The age ranged from 2 months to 72 years with most patients belonged to the fourth decade and 70.4% patients were from reproductive age group. Most of the patients were literate (81%) and hailing from rural areas. Most of them were homemakers and belonged to lower socioeconomic status (42.3%). Itching (77.3%) was the most common presenting complaint followed by burning sensation (9.5%). Common dermatoses encountered were vulval candidiasis (40.7%), lichen sclerosus (15.3%), tinea cruris (13.8%), lichen planus (4.2%), vitiligo (3.2%), irritant contact dermatitis (2.6%), psoriasis (2.6%), lichen simplex chronicus (2.1%), among others. Most common associated comorbidity was diabetes mellitus. CONCLUSIONS: This study provides important data on the spectrum of vulvar diseases in Eastern Indian patients and emphasizes the importance of proper and timely diagnosing nonvenereal vulvar dermatoses.

Interleukin 31 (IL-31) is a neurocytokine that stimulates sensory neurons involved in pruritus. It contributes to skin barrier inflammation, dysfunction, and remodeling. As the immune and nervous systems are interrelated, IL-31 has a key role in the treatment of atopic dermatitis and prurigo nodularis. Nemolizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that blocks the α subunit of the IL-31 receptor, modulates the neuroimmune response, and rapidly alleviates itching by directly blocking signaling. It reduces inflammation and lesion severity in atopic dermatitis and prurigo nodularis by restoring epithelial function and promoting skin barrier integrity. This review synthesizes the latest information on the functions of IL-31 and presents the current evidence, including clinical trial results, on the use of nemolizumab in the treatment of atopic dermatitis and prurigo nodularis.

PN-induced responses in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal, hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axes and endocannabinoid system are abnormal. Extant studies on the PN's pathogenesis mostly focused on the PN's psychological responses. To date, the PN's physiological responses remain not been fully uncovered yet. OBJECTIVES: To investigate the PN-induced physiological responses via the levels of 5steroids and 2endocannabinoids combined with their ratios in plasma and examine the association between the psychological and physiological responses. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty-six patients with PN, 36 age- and gender-matched healthy controls were recruited. The PN's psychological symptoms including pruritus severity, pain and life quality were measured with the visual analogue scale, the prurigo score index, numerical rating scale, verbal rating scale and dermatology life quality index. Their concentrations of steroids and endocannabinoids were determined with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. RESULTS: Compared to controls, the PN patients showed lower plasma levels in cortisol, cortisone, N-arachidonoyl-ethanolamine, and the ratio of DHEA to 1-arachydonoyl glycerol (1-AG), which negatively moderately and over correlated with PN's symptoms, especially with the pruritus severity. Additionally, the PN patients exhibited higher levels in the ratios of testosterone and 1-AG to cortisol, which positively moderately and over correlated with pruritus severity. Thus, the 7biomarkers would be sensitive and reliable biomarkers for assessing the pruritus severity of PN because they met the screening criteria that the biomarkers show intergroup differences and showed moderate or over correlation with the pruritus severity of PN. CONCLUSIONS: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study exploring PN-induced physiological responses. The findigs suggest that alterations in these 3endocrine systems may lead to new insights to psychological mechanisms and responses to PN.

RESULTS: Compared to controls, the PN patients showed lower plasma levels in cortisol, cortisone, N-arachidonoyl-ethanolamine (AEA), and the ratio of DHEA to 1-arachydonoyl glycerol (1-AG), which negatively moderately and over correlated with PN's symptoms, especially with the pruritus severity. Additionally, the PN patients exhibited higher levels in the ratios of testosterone and 1-AG to cortisol, which positively moderately and over correlated with pruritus severity. Thus, the seven biomarkers would be sensitive and reliable biomarkers for assessing the pruritus severity of PN because they met the screening criteria that the biomarkers show intergroup differences and showed moderate or over correlation with the pruritus severity of PN. CONCLUSIONS: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study exploring PN-induced physiological responses. The findings suggest that alterations in these three endocrine systems may lead to new insights to psychological mechanisms and responses to prurigo nodularis.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Chronic nodular prurigo (CNPG) is a recently defined and currently underdiagnosed disease with a variety of causes. It is associated with multiple comorbidities, and its management and treatment have improved with a better understanding of its pathogenesis. The aim of this study was to describe our experience with a series of patients with CNPG. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Single-center, observational, retrospective study of the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of patients with CNPG seen at the dermatology department of a tertiary care hospital between 2009 and 2021. RESULTS: We included 74 patients, mostly women (63.5%), with a mean age of 57 years. Overall, 39.2% of patients had a concomitant skin condition, mainly atopic dermatitis (62%). Other comorbidities included endocrine disorders (54.1%), cardiovascular disease (44.4%), and psychiatric disorders (36.5%). Skin biopsy helped confirm the clinical diagnosis in 70% of cases. The mean immunoglobulin E level was higher than normal (516 IU/mL), regardless of atopic predisposition. On average, patients received 3 treatments, the most common choices being methotrexate, antihistamines, and topical and oral corticosteroids. Methotrexate was among the most effective options. CONCLUSIONS: CNPG is a complex disease associated with multiple comorbidities. It requires a multidisciplinary approach, with the dermatologist at the center. Classical treatment approaches are probably insufficient.

AIMS: Differentiated vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (dVIN), the precursor lesion to human papillomavirus-independent vulvar squamous cell carcinoma (VSCC), can be difficult to distinguish from vulvar inflammatory dermatoses. Our goal was to determine if p53 could be a useful biomarker for dVIN, by characterizing p53 percentage, intensity and patterns of staining in dVIN and its histological mimics. METHODS AND RESULTS: We studied p53 immunohistochemical staining patterns in 16 dVIN cases and 46 vulvar non-neoplastic squamous lesions [12 lichen sclerosus (LS); seven lichen simplex chronicus; three lichen planus (LP); six psoriasis; 13 spongiotic dermatitis (SPO); and five candidiasis]. dVIN cases were adjacent to a p16-negative invasive VSCC in resection specimens. All dVIN cases showed null-type or moderate to strong uniform p53 staining in >70% of basal cells, with moderate to strong continuous parabasal staining extending to two-thirds of the epidermis. This was in contrast to weak or weak to moderate patchy p53 staining in the majority of other lesions. Moderate to strong and increased basal p53 staining (≥70%) was also observed in a subset of LS cases (5/12, 42%), LP cases (1/3, 33%), and SPO cases (36%, 4/11); however, in all categories, this was limited to the basal layer, and any staining in the parabasal layers was patchy. CONCLUSION: Strong and uniform p53 staining of basal cells, extending into the parabasal layers, and a complete absence of staining (null type) is useful in distinguishing dVIN from other mimics in the vulva. p53 staining of lesser intensity or quantity, particularly basal overexpression only, overlaps with that in vulvar inflammatory lesions.

Prurigo nodularis (PN) is a chronic, benign neurodermatitis of unclear etiology characterized by excoriated, intensely pruritic nodules secondary to an intense itch-scratch cycle. PN treatment is still a challenge, and it is frustrating for both dermatologists and patients. The evidence for the effectiveness of a readily available treatment like cryotherapy is limited. To compare the efficacy of cryotherapy vs 0.05% clobetasol propionate in PN patients attending the RDTC, Northern Tanzania, from October 2018 to July 2019. Based on previous year data, it was expected to enroll nine patients. Assent and consent were obtained. Fourteen patients were enrolled, 11 analyzed; intra-subject control done each one-half of the body received either intervention randomly. The cryotherapy was given in two cycles from 5 to 10 s in one session and clobetasol propionate was applied twice daily for 4 weeks. The patients were followed-up weekly by telephone reminded them to apply clobetasol. Data entry and analysis was done in SPSS version 20. Ethical considerations were observed. Eleven patients were analyzed; four (36%) males and seven (64%) females. Cryotherapy had nodule clearance in the 11 patients of 75% to 100% in 11 (100%) and clobetasol propionate only in three of the patients. Seven patients (63.6%) preferred cryotherapy. Cryotherapy preferred above clobetasol propionate.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficacy and safety of the treatment of vulvar lichen simplex chronicus (VLSC) using high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) at different powers. METHODS: This retrospective study included 152 patients with VLSC. Among these patients, 70 were treated with HIFU at low power (level 2), and 82 were treated at normal power (level 3). The treatment responses, recurrence rates and intra- and postoperative complications were all compared. RESULTS: No statistically significant differences were found between the two groups in age, disease course, menopause status, lesion size and severity of symptoms. All patients received one session of HIFU therapy, and the treatment process was successful. No difference was found in the total response rate between the two groups at 1 (85.7% versus 87.8%, p = .35), 6 (80% versus 80.5%, p = .65) and 12 (80% versus 80.5%, p = .73) months after HIFU therapy. No significant difference was observed in the recurrence rate between the two groups at 6 (5.7% versus 9.8%, p = .36) and 12 (22.9% versus 26.8%, p = .57) months after HIFU treatment. Patients in the low-power group had a lower incidence of blisters (10% versus 23.3%, p = .04). CONCLUSION: Based on our results, low-power HIFU treatment can achieve a therapeutic effect similar to normal power HFU treatment for VLSC, but its incidence of side effects is lower.

RESUMEN

Prurigo nodularis (PN) is a chronic, recalcitrant inflammatory skin condition characterized by the presence of pruritic nodules. The exact pathogenesis of the disease is unknown, although immune and neural dysregulation are indicated in driving the itchscratch cycle. Specifically, interleukin-4 and interleukin-31 pathways have been recently implicated in transmission of the pruritic sensation. There are currently no US FDA-approved targeted therapies for the treatment of PN. This article aims to review our present understanding of the disease pathogenesis and treatments, with a focus on emerging therapeutics. Specifically, this article explores the developing use of monoclonal antibodies nemolizumab and dupilumab, opioid receptor modulation and cannabinoids as potential treatments for PN.

The aim of this study is to evaluate psychiatric comorbidity, temperament and character traits, depression and anxiety levels, and their relation with symptom severity in patients with lichen simplex chronicus (LSC). About 50 patients with LSC were enrolled in the study along with 49 controls. The Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 (SCID-5), Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were administered to all subjects for psychiatric assessment. Skindex-16 symptom scale was performed for assessing the symptom severity of LSC. LSC group were showing an incidence of 62% in terms of psychiatric comorbidity and 14% of them had two psychiatric diagnoses. The most common psychiatric disorders were major depressive disorder (32%), dysthymia (18%), and generalized anxiety disorder (12%). LSC group had significantly higher mean BDI (18.60 ± 11.77 vs 7.40 ± 4.90) and BAI scores (18.56 ± 13.75 vs 5.18 ± 5.34) than the control group. Patients with LSC displayed higher scores in Harm Avoidance Dimension (19.74 ± 5.18 vs 15.00 ± 5.13) of temperament and regarding character dimensions, they had lower scores in self-directedness (25.52 ± 6.69 vs 29.51 ± 5.54). When analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was performed while BDI and BAI scores were taken as covariates cooperativeness became significantly higher in the LSC group. Patients with LSC had a high incidence of psychiatric comorbidity, significantly higher depression and anxiety levels, and differed from control group in terms of TCI profile and these conditions were related to symptom severity of the LSC. Comorbid psychiatric conditions and personality traits should be considered as crucial factors for the effective treatment of LSC.
