BACKGROUND: Population-wide, paraganglioma (PGL) is uncommon. The incidence of Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) ranges from 0.5% to 0.9% and also is an exceedingly rare manifestation of PGL. Coronary artery ectasia (CAE) is also uncommon, with an incidence ranging from 1.2% to 4.9%. Herein, we present a case of PGL, TTS, and Markis type I CAE that occured in the same patient. CASE PRESENTATION: A man in his early 40s was admitted to our hospital with a 16-hour history of abdominal colic. Computed tomography and laboratory examination led to the diagnosis of PGL, coronary angiography led to the diagnosis of Markis type I or Chinese type III CAE, and two echocardiographic examinations led to the diagnosis of TTS. When the patient was treated by phenoxybenzamine instead of surgery for the PGL, his blood pressure and glucose level gradually returned to normal. The CAE was treated by thrombolysis, antiplatelet medications, atorvastatin, and myocardial protection therapies. No symptoms of PGL, CAE, or TTS were seen during a 6-month follow-up, and the patient had an excellent quality of life. We confirmed that phenoxybenzamine was the cause of the TTS because paradoxical systolic motion of the apex, inferior wall, left ventricular anterior wall, and interventricular septum were similarly recovered when the PGL was treated by phenoxybenzamine. CONCLUSIONS: To raise awareness of this illness and prevent misdiagnosis, we have herein presented a case of TTS that was brought on by PGL with Markis type I CAE for clinicians' reference. In addition, in clinical practice, we should consider the possibility of a concomitant coronary artery disease even if the TTS is caused by a PGL-induced catecholamine surge.

AIM: High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a non-invasive treatment of adenomyosis. Uterine rupture during pregnancy is a rare adverse event after HIFU treatment, because HIFU treatment results in tissue coagulative necrosis. METHODS: We reported a case of uterine rupture in a 34-year-old woman. The woman had HIFU treatment for adenomyosis eight months before unplanned pregnancy. She was closely monitored during the pregnancy and the antenatal course was uneventful. At the gestational age of 38 weeks and 2 days, an emergency lower segment cesarean section was performed because of inexplainable abdominal pain. After delivery of the fetus, a 2 × 2 cm serous membrane rupture was observed in the HIFU treatment area. CONCLUSION: Uterine rupture during pregnancy after HIFU is a rare adverse event, however, attention is required during the whole pregnancy in case of unexpected uterine rupture.

Nonylphenol (NP) is a typical environmental endocrine disruptor with estrogenic effects. It serves as an emulsifier and as the main ingredient of detergents and has become an increasingly common pollutant in both fresh and salt water, vegetables, and fruits. This study aimed to clarify whether NP exposure could lead to cognitive dysfunction and synaptic plasticity impairment, and also explore the mechanism of microRNA (miR)- 219a-5p regulation of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) in NP-induced synaptic plasticity impairment in vivo and in vitro. In vivo, 30 male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 2 groups: blank control group (pure corn oil) and NP-exposed group [NP 80 mg/(kg·d)], with 15 rats in each group. In vitro, the extracted hippocampal neurons were divided into 6 groups: blank control group, mimics NC group, miR-219 mimics group, NP group (70 µmol/L NP), NP + mimics NC group, and NP + miR-219 mimics group. In vivo, the content of NP in hippocampal tissues after 90 days of NP exposure was significantly higher in the NP-stained group than in the blank control group. NP exposure could lead to a decrease in the ability to learn and memory, ability to remember, and space spatial memory ability in rats. The dendrites in the NP-stained group were disordered, with few dendritic spines and significantly decreased dendritic spine density. The postsynaptic densities were loosely arranged, the thickness and length of the postsynaptic densities shortened, and the length and width of the synaptic gap increased. Glutamine (Glu) and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) contents in hippocampal tissues decreased in the NP-stained group. The expression of miR-219a-5p mRNA decreased in the NP-stained group after 3 months of NP exposure. The expression of NMDAR1, NMDAR2A, NMDAR2B, nerve growth-associated protein (GAP-43), and Ca/calmodulin-dependent kinase II (CaMKII) mRNA/proteins decreased in the NP-stained group. In vitro, NMDAR protein expression decreased, while GAP-43 and CaMKII protein expression increased in the miR-219 mimics group compared with the control group. The expression levels of NMDAR and GAP-43 and CaMKII proteins were higher in the NP + miR-219 mimics group compared with the NP group. The levels of neurotransmitters Glu and GABA decreased in the NP and NP + mimics NC groups compared with the blank group. Shortened synaptic active band length, decreased thickness of postsynaptic densities, and shortened length of postsynaptic densities were observed in the NP, NP + mimics NC, and NP + miR-219 mimics groups compared with the blank control group. In vivo, NP exposure reduced learning memory capacity and neurotransmitter content in rats and caused a decrease in dendritic spine density and synaptic number density and a decrease in miR-219a-5p expression. In vitro, high expression of miR-219a-5p inhibited the expression of NMDAR, thus reducing the effect of NP on synaptic plasticity impairment in hippocampal neurons. Our study provided a scientific basis for the prevention of cognitive impairment owing to NP exposure and the development of targeted drug treatment strategies.

PURPOSE: Laparotomic or hysteroscopic myomectomy, and high-intensity focussed ultrasound (HIFU), can be used in the treatment of Type 2 myomas with a > 50% intramural component. Hysteroscopic electroresection may damage the remaining endometrium and complete ablation of myomas may not be realised via HIFU treatment. We report and examine the results of 1 case of HIFU treatment, accompanied with the hysteroscopy endo-operative system (HEOS) cold device procedure. MATERIALS AND METHODS: These were used for treating a > 4cm diameter Type 2 uterine myoma and ensuring successful pregnancy. HIFU treatment of uterine myomas can achieve point-by-point ablation of lesions as far as possible without damaging the endometrium. The HEOS cold device procedure was implemented 3 months after HIFU treatment. RESULTS: The patient got pregnant naturally in the third month after receiving treatment, with no complications during her pregnancy. The patient gave birth to a healthy male via full-term cesarean section. CONCLUSIONS: HIFU treatment, accompanied with the HEOS cold device procedure, ensured complete myoma removal. It also preserved the integrity of the myometrium and prevented uterine perforation during surgery.


For the patient who had a large uterine myoma and wanted to achieve pregnancy soon, HIFU accompanied with the HEOS cold device procedure could ensure complete myoma removal, whilst preserving the integrity of myometrium and preventing uterine perforation during surgery.

The transmission of satellite payload data is critical for services provided by aerospace ground networks. To ensure the correctness of data transmission, the TCP data transmission protocol has been used typically. However, the standard TCP congestion control algorithm is incompatible with networks with a long time delay and a large bandwidth, resulting in low throughput and resource waste. This article compares recent studies on TCP-based acceleration algorithms and proposes an acceleration algorithm based on the learning of historical characteristics, such as end-to-end delay and its variation characteristics, the arrival interval of feedback packets (ACK) at the receiving end and its variation characteristics, the degree of data packet reversal and its variation characteristics, delay and jitter caused by the security equipment's deep data inspection, and random packet loss caused by various factors. The proposed algorithm is evaluated and compared with the TCP congestion control algorithms under both laboratory and ground network conditions. Experimental results indicate that the proposed acceleration algorithm is efficient and can significantly increase throughput. Therefore, it has a promising application prospect in high-speed data transmission in aerospace-ground service networks.

Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is an autoimmune disease characterized by chronic destruction of the bile ducts. A major unanswered question regarding the pathogenesis of PBC is the precise mechanisms of small bile duct injury. Emperipolesis is one of cell-in-cell structures that is a potential histological hallmark associated with chronic hepatitis B. This study aimed to clarify the pathogenesis and characteristics of emperipolesis in PBC liver injury. Sixty-six PBC patients, diagnosed by liver biopsy combined with laboratory test, were divided into early-stage PBC (stages I and II, n = 39) and late-stage PBC (stages III and IV, n = 27). Emperipolesis was measured in liver sections stained with haematoxylin-eosin. The expressions of CK19, CD3, CD4, CD8, CD20, Ki67 and apoptosis of BECs were evaluated by immunohistochemistry or immunofluorescence double labelling. Emperipolesis was observed in 62.1% of patients with PBC, and BECs were predominantly host cells. The number of infiltrating CD3+ and CD8+ T cells correlated with the advancement of emperipolesis (R2  = 0.318, P < .001; R2  = 0.060, P < .05). The cell numbers of TUNEL-positive BECs and double staining for CK19 and Ki67 showed a significant positive correlation with emperipolesis degree (R2  = 0.236, P < .001; R2  = 0.267, P < .001). We conclude that emperipolesis mediated by CD8+ T cells appears to be relevant to apoptosis of BEC and thus may aggravate the further injury of interlobular bile ducts.

Protein kinases play a critical role in regulating virtually all cellular processes. Here, we developed a novel one-step method based on a wild-type aerolysin nanopore, which enables kinase activity detection without labeling/modification, immobilization, cooperative enzymes and complicated procedures. By virtual of the positively charged confinement of the aerolysin nanopore, the kinase-induced phosphopeptides are specially captured while the positively charged substrate peptides might move away from the pore by the electric field. Combining with internal standard method, the event frequency of the phosphopeptides exhibited a dose-dependent response with kinases. The detection limit of 0.005 U/µL has been achieved with protein kinase A as a model target. This method also allowed kinase inhibitor screening, kinase activity sensing in cell lysates and the real-time monitoring of kinase-catalyzed phosphorylation at singe molecule level, which could further benefit fundamental biochemical research, clinical diagnosis and kinase-targeted drug discovery. Moreover, this nanopore sensor shows strong capacity for the other enzymes that altered substrate charge (e.g., sulfonation, carboxylation, or amidation).

OBJECTIVE: To report on a case of 10p15.3 microdeletion syndrome and to explore its clinical and molecular characteristics. METHODS: The patient was subjected to whole exome sequencing (WES), with his clinical features discussed in the light of literature review. RESULTS: The patient presented with global developmental delay, hypotonia, autistic-like traits, mild facial dysmorphism and other features including short stature, small hands and feet, congenital heart disease and feeding difficulty. WES has detected deletions of ZMYND11, DIP2C, LARP4B, TUBB8, GTPBP4, IDI2, IDI1, WOR37 and ADARB2 genes on the short arm of chromosome 10. Among these, ZMYND11 gene been previously associated with intellectual disability. CONCLUSION: The patient's phenotype was closely correlated with that of 10p15.3 microdeletion syndrome. Haploinsufficiency of the ZMYND11 gene may underlie the manifestations of 10p15.3 microdeletion syndrome.

BACKGROUND To explore the diagnostic value of sagittal measurement of thoracic inlet parameters for degenerative cervical spondylotic myelopathy (DCSM). MATERIAL AND METHODS Sixty patients with DCSM (study group) and the same number of normal subjects (control group) were initially enrolled in the study. All data from X-ray in the standing position and computed tomography (CT) in the supine position were collected and carefully analyzed. Cervical sagittal parameters, including C2-C7 angle, C2-C7 sagittal vertical axis (C2-C7 SVA), T1 slope, thoracic inlet angle (TIA), and neck tilt (NT), were measured at the lateral radiographs by using standard X-rays and CT. Univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were carried out to explore the diagnostic value of cervical sagittal parameters for the DCSM. RESULTS All the enrolled patients in the study and control groups completed the follow-up, and the mean follow-up periods were 35.8 months in the study group and 36.3 months in the control group. The DCSM group had smaller T1 slope and TIA when compared with that of the control group (18.14±2.67° vs. 24.16±3.7°, p=0.00; 66.42±12.36° vs. 70.42±10.21°, p=0.01). Logistic regression analysis and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve revealed that preoperative T1 slope of less than 18.5° had significant diagnostic value for the incidence of DCSM (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS Patients with sagittal imbalance of thoracic inlet parameters have higher risk of DCSM, while T1 slope of less than 18.5° showed significant diagnostic value for the incidence of DCSM.

Short-chain aliphatic amines are a class of hazardous impurities in drug substances. A simple method, involving derivatization followed by high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection, has been developed for residue determination of eight aliphatic amines simultaneously in drug substances. Different halonitrobenzenes derivatization reagents were systematically compared. As a result, 1-fluoro-2-nitro-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzene was selected since the derivatization effectively shifted the absorption wavelength to the visible region (400-450 nm), where most drug substances, impurities and even the derivatization reagent absorb very weakly. Due to the redshift effect, interference was minimized and adequately low limits of quantitation were reached (0.24-0.80 nmol/mL). Moreover, the derivatization reaction was readily carried out in dimethyl sulfoxide at room temperature for 1 h using N,N-diisopropylethylamine as catalyst to achieve the highest yield. Without any pre-treatment, the derivatives were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection. The high stability of the derivatives within 24 h at room temperature (RSD<1.04%) further facilitated the simultaneous preparation and consecutive analysis of quantities of samples. Finally, the proposed method was successfully applied for residue determination of eight aliphatic amines simultaneously in eight drug substance samples. This study could be helpful for the routine analysis and residue control of aliphatic amines in drug substances.

BACKGROUND: High quality clinical learning environments (CLE) are critical to postgraduate medical education (PGME). The understaffed and overcrowded environments in which many residents work present a significant challenge to learning. The purpose of this study was to develop a national expert group consensus amongst stakeholders in PGME to; (i) identify important barriers and facilitators of learning in CLEs and (ii) indicate priority areas for improvement. Our objective was to provide information to focus efforts to provide high quality CLEs. METHODS: Group Concept Mapping (GCM) is an integrated mixed methods approach to generating expert group consensus. A multi-disciplinary group of experts were invited to participate in the GCM process via an online platform. Multi-dimensional scaling and hierarchical cluster analysis were used to analyse participant inputs in regard to barriers, facilitators and priorities. RESULTS: Participants identified facilitators and barriers in ten domains within clinical learning environments. Domains rated most important were those which related to residents' connection to and engagement with more senior doctors. Organisation and conditions of work and Time to learn with senior doctors during patient care were rated as the most difficult areas in which to make improvements. CONCLUSIONS: High quality PGME requires that residents engage and connect with senior doctors during patient care, and that they are valued and supported both as learners and service providers. Academic medicine and health service managers must work together to protect these elements of CLEs, which not only shape learning, but impact quality of care and patient safety.

Co-implantation of adipose-derived stromal cells (ASCs) and endothelial cells (ECs) can markedly expedite the formation of functional microvascular beds and provides possible methods for cell-based revascularization therapies to treat various diseases. Furthermore, we investigated the role of TGFß/Smad signaling pathway for angiogenesis in a three-dimensional (3D) collagen gel model established in vitro with co-culture between ASCs and ECs. We found that angiogenesis was attenuated in the co-culture gels after inhibition of ALK5/Smad2/3 with SB431542. Genes coding for VEGF-A, VEGF-B, VE-ca, FGF-1, PDGF, BMP-4, and BMP-7 were significantly reduced in both mono-cultured and co-cultured ECs. Furthermore, the decrease in co-cultured ECs was prominent relative to mono-cultured ECs. Taken together, these findings suggest that in the co-culture between ASCs and ECs, TGFß/Smad signal pathway regulates angiogenesis via ECs; moreover, the findings that the co-cultured ECs were regulated more significantly than mono-cultured ECs suggest that suppression of Smad signal pathway may regulate the paracrine secretion of ASCs to further modulate angiogenesis of ECs.

Interleukin-23 (IL-23) and its downstream factor IL-17 are the key cytokines involved in immune and inflammatory response in chronic liver diseases. This study aimed to investigate the role and molecular mechanisms of the IL-23/Th17 axis in chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, and the efficacy of IL-23/Th17 modulation in response to anti-HCV therapy. Sixty-six HCV-infected patients and 20 healthy controls were enrolled. The patients received PegIFNa-2a and ribavirin therapy for at least 48 weeks. The plasma level of IL-23 and the number of IL-17A-, IFN-γ-, and IL-21-producing peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) at baseline and 12, 24, and 48 weeks following treatment were determined. The mRNA level of Th17 immune-associated molecules in PBMCs was evaluated by real-time quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) following treatment with IL-23 agonist or antagonist. Our data showed that, compared to healthy controls, HCV-infected patients had an increased plasma level of IL-23 and increased frequencies of IL-17A- and IFN-γ-producing PBMCs, whereas the HCV patients exhibited a reduced number of IL-21-producing PBMCs. However, the baseline frequencies of IL-21-producing PBMCs were markedly higher in HCV patients who achieved rapid virological response (RVR) than those without RVR. Additionally, the mRNA expressions of IL-21, IFN-γ, myxovirus resistance protein A (MxA), and suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3) were significantly upregulated in PBMCs, while FoxP3 expression was suppressed by IL-23 agonist. Thus, the IL-23/Th17 axis plays an important role in development of chronic HCV infection and antiviral response. IL-23 may enhance the antiviral activity of interferon-based therapy by modulating the expression of Th17 cells-associated molecules in HCV-infected patients.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the Long-term outcome of seizures, and to explore the effects of related factors, including the age at onset, types of epileptic syndromes, and etiological factors, etc. METHODS: The clinical data were retrospectively surveyed from 265 children with regular follow-ups for over 1 year at Peking University First Hospital (Jan. 2003 to Dec. 2006). The seizure-free rate was calculated as an at least one-year non-occurrence of seizures. The Long-term outcome of seizures was analyzed in association with factors including the age at onset, types of epileptic syndromes, and etiology. RESULTS: (1) Seizure types were clarified in all the cases, with combined types of seizures in 17. Epileptic syndromes were identified in 163/265 cases (61.5%). With regular antiepileptic drug therapy, 57.9% children with epilepsy could be seizure-free. (2) Seizure-free was demonstrated in 142/265 cases with a seizure-free rate of 53.6% in this group. (3) The age at onset was youngest in the non-efficacy group. (4) The seizure-free rate was different by syndrome types of epilepsies, with a higher seizure-free rate in idiopathic generalized epilepsy (72.4%) and benign epilepsy in children with centro-temporal spikes (65.5%), whereas a lowest rate (21.7%) in infantile spasms. (5) A significant difference of seizure-free rates was revealed in different etiological groups. Children with idiopathic epilepsy achieved higher seizure-free rate (69.2%) than those with symptomatic and cryptogenic epilepsy (45.4%). CONCLUSION: The epilepsy children with regular antiepileptic drug therapy had generally satisfactory outcome of seizures, with over half cases of seizure-free. The prognosis was demonstrated to be closely related with the etiological factors, syndrome types and age at onset.

BACKGROUND & AIMS: The intestinal epithelium functions both in nutrient absorption and as a barrier, separating the luminal contents from a network of vascular, fibroblastic, and immune cells underneath. After injury to the intestine, multiple cell populations cooperate to drive regeneration of the mucosal barrier, including lymphatic endothelial cells (LECs). A population of granulocytic immature myeloid cells (IMCs), marked by Hdc, participate in regeneration of multiple organs such as the colon and central nervous system, and their contribution to intestinal regeneration was investigated. METHODS: By using male and female histidine decarboxylase (Hdc) green fluorescent reporter (GFP) mice, we investigated the role of Hdc+ IMCs in intestinal regeneration after exposure to 12 Gy whole-body irradiation. The movement of IMCs was analyzed using flow cytometry and immunostaining. Ablation of Hdc+ cells using the HdcCreERT2 tamoxifen-inducible recombinase Cre system, conditional knockout of Prostaglandin-endoperoxidase synthase 2 (Ptgs2) in Hdc+ cells using HdcCre; Ptgs2 floxed mice, and visualization of LECs using Prox1tdTomato mice also was performed. The role of microbial signals was investigated by knocking down mice gut microbiomes using antibiotic cocktail gavages. RESULTS: We found that Hdc+ IMCs infiltrate the injured intestine after irradiation injury and promote epithelial regeneration in part by modulating LEC activity. Hdc+ IMCs express Ptgs2 (encoding cyclooxygenase-2/COX-2), and enables them to produce prostaglandin E2. Prostaglandin E2 acts on the prostaglandin E2 receptor 4 receptor (EP4) on LECs to promote lymphangiogenesis and induce the expression of proregenerative factors including R-spondin 3. Depletion of gut microbes leads to reduced intestinal regeneration by impaired recruitment of IMCs. CONCLUSIONS: Altogether, our results unveil a critical role for IMCs in intestinal repair by modulating LEC activity and implicate gut microbes as mediators of intestinal regeneration.

Reversible disulfide oxidation between proximal cysteines in proteins represents a common regulatory control mechanism to modulate flux through metabolic pathways in response to changing environmental conditions. To enable in vivo measurements of cellular redox changes linked to disulfide bond formation, we have synthesized a cell-permeable thiol-reactive affinity probe (TRAP) consisting of a monosubstituted cyanine dye derivatized with arsenic (i.e., TRAP_Cy3) to trap and visualize dithiols in cytosolic proteins. Alkylation of reactive thiols prior to displacement of the bound TRAP_Cy3 by ethanedithiol permits facile protein capture and mass spectrometric identification of proximal reduced dithiols to the exclusion of individual cysteines. Applying TRAP_Cy3 to evaluate cellular responses to increases in oxygen and light levels in the photosynthetic microbe Synechococcus sp. PCC7002, we observe large decreases in the abundance of reduced dithiols in cellular proteins, which suggest redox-dependent mechanisms involving the oxidation of proximal disulfides. Under these same growth conditions that result in the oxidation of proximal thiols, there is a reduction in the abundance of post-translational oxidative protein modifications involving methionine sulfoxide and nitrotyrosine. These results suggest that the redox status of proximal cysteines responds to environmental conditions, acting to regulate metabolic flux and minimize the formation of reactive oxygen species to decrease oxidative protein damage.

To optimize cellular delivery and specific labeling of tagged cytosolic proteins by biarsenical fluorescent probes built around a cyanine dye (Cy3) scaffold, we have systematically varied the polarity of the N-alkyl chain (i.e., 4-5 methylene groups appended by a sulfonate or methoxy ester moiety) and arsenic capping reagent (ethanedithiol versus benzenedithiol). Optimal live-cell labeling and visualization of tagged cytosolic proteins is reported using an ethanedithiol capping reagent with the uncharged methoxy ester functionalized N-alkyl chains. These measurements demonstrate the general utility of this new class of photostable and highly fluorescent biarsenical probes based on the cyanine dye scaffold for in vivo labeling of tagged cellular proteins for live cell imaging measurements of protein dynamics.

Professional service firms apply specialist knowledge to create customised solutions to client problems. In their work, teams of professionals undertake projects in which clients may be closely involved in co-creating solutions. However, we know little about the conditions under which client involvement contributes to better performance. We examine the direct and conditional contribution client involvement can make to project success and propose team bonding capital as a moderator. We conduct multi-level analysis of data from 58 project managers and 171 consultants nested in project teams. We find a positive impact of client involvement on both team performance and team member idea creativity. Team bonding capital moderates the relationships client involvement has with both team performance and individual member idea creativity, where the impact of client involvement is greater when team bonding capital is high. Implications for theory and practice are discussed.

BACKGROUND: The authors examined the relationship between Weight-adjusted Waist Index (WWI) and all-cause and cardiovascular mortality among adults in the US. METHODS: This prospective cohort study included 26,882 individuals who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2005 through 2014. WWI was calculated as waist circumference divided by the square root of weight. The main outcomes of this study were all-cause mortality and cardiovascular mortality. Mortality status and cause of death were determined by NHANES-linked National Death Index records through December 31, 2015. Cox proportional hazard models and Kaplan-Meier analysis were used to estimate Hazard Ratios (HR) and 95% CIs for mortality for all causes and cardiovascular diseases. RESULTS: A total of 26,882 participants with a mean WWI of 10.89 ± 0.01, of whom 49.23% were male. The average follow-up time was 68.95 ± 1.07 months, and 1870 participants were determined as deceased (4.99%), including 349 cardiovascular death (0.88%). The Kaplan-Meier analysis demonstrated a significant difference in all-cause and cardiovascular mortality between patients with WWI <11.33 and ≥11.33 (both log-rank test p < 0.0001). The fully adjusted Cox proportional hazard model indicated that a higher WWI level (≥ 11.33) was associated with an increased 95% risk for cardiovascular mortality (HR = 1.95, 95% CI 1.30‒2.93) and 68% risk for all-cause death (HR = 1.68, 95% CI 1.41‒2.00) compared with the counterparts. CONCLUSIONS: Elevated WWI levels were associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular mortality and all-cause mortality independently.
