RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Embryo quality is usually regarded as a key predictor of successful implantation and clinical pregnancy potential. The identification of embryos that have the capacity to implant and result in a healthy pregnancy is a crucial part of in vitro fertilization (IVF). Usually, morphologically high-quality embryos are chosen for embryo transfer in IVF treatment. The aim of this study was to assess the association between the available blastocyst formation rate and the clinical pregnancy outcome following the first fresh embryo transfer cycle and provide systematic individual treatment to adjust endometrial receptivity for the next transfer cycle. METHODS: This retrospective, single-center study included 512 fresh embryo transfers conducted between 11/2019 and 08/2021, which consisted of 385 cleavage-stage (Day 3) and 127 blastocyst-stage (Day 5) embryo transfers. The two groups were divided into a clinical pregnancy group and a nonclinical pregnancy group for comparison. The association between the available blastocyst formation rate and the clinical pregnancy rate in the Day 3 and Day 5 transfer groups were considered. RESULTS: In the Day 3 group, there were 275 clinical pregnancies, and the clinical pregnancy rate was 71.43%. Although the two pronuclei (2PN) oocyte rate and available embryo rate at Day 3 were significantly higher in the clinical pregnancy group than the nonclinical pregnancy group (P < 0.05), the blastocyst formation rate and the available blastocyst formation rate were not significantly different between the clinical pregnancy group and the nonclinical pregnancy group (P > 0.05). In the Day 5 group, there were 81 clinical pregnancies, and the clinical pregnancy rate was 63.78%. No baseline characteristics showed any obvious differences between the clinical pregnancy group and nonclinical pregnancy group (P > 0.05). The blastocyst formation rate in the nonclinical pregnancy group was higher than that in the clinical pregnancy group, but the difference was not statistically significant (81.06% vs. 77.03%, P = 0.083). Interestingly, the available blastocyst formation rate and the Day 5 available blastocyst formation rate were significantly higher in the nonclinical pregnancy group than the clinical pregnancy group (66.19% vs. 60.79%, P = 0.014; 54.58% vs. 46.98%, P = 0.007). CONCLUSIONS: In fresh cycles, the available blastocyst formation rate was not associated with the clinical pregnancy outcome for Day 3 embryo transfers, and the available blastocyst formation rate was not positively correlated with the clinical pregnancy outcome for Day 5 embryo transfers.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Despite recognition in the West that military veterans experience more mental health issues than the general population, little research has focused on this subject in China. This study examined the associations between male veterans' military experience and depression in China. METHODS: A sample of 12,914 men including 669 veterans was included in the final analysis and propensity score matching, multivariable regressions and fixed effect model were used. RESULTS: The military experience was associated with a lower likelihood of depression in male veterans. In the subgroup analysis, military experience was associated with a lower likelihood of depression among married and urban male veterans. Military experience was also associated with a lower likelihood of depression in both "junior college and above" and "below junior college" groups. In contrast, evidence was lacking regarding the associations between military experience and depression for unmarried and rural veterans. CONCLUSIONS: Individual characteristics could influence the relationship between military experience and depression in male veterans, and the mental health of veterans should be paid more attention and guaranteed.

RESUMEN

CONTEXT: Rural public health personnel serve communities that have been particularly susceptible to COVID-19 and yet faced the pandemic with far less well-resourced capacity than their urban counterparts. A critical aspect of addressing local health inequities is access to high-quality population data and the capacity to effectively use data to support decision making. However, much of the data required to investigate inequities are not readily available to rural local health departments and the tools and training to analyze data are often lacking. PROGRAM: The purpose of our effort was to explore rural data challenges related to COVID-19 and provide recommendations for improving rural data access and capacity ahead of future crises. IMPLEMENTATION: We gathered qualitative data in 2 phases, more than 8 months apart, from rural public health practice personnel. Initial data were gathered in October-November 2020 regarding rural public health data needs during the COVID-19 pandemic and then to later identify whether the same findings held true in July 2021 or whether access to and capacity to use data to address the pandemic and related inequities improved as the pandemic progressed. EVALUATION: In our 4-state exploration focused on access and use of data among rural public health systems to promote health equity in the Northwest United States, we found tremendous and ongoing unmet data needs, challenges with communicating data, and a lack of capacity to meet this public health crisis. DISCUSSION: Recommendations for addressing these challenges include increasing dedicated resources specifically to rural public health systems, improving data access and infrastructure, and providing dedicated data-related workforce development.

RESUMEN

Human uterine stromal cell undergoes decidualization for pregnancy establishment and maintenance, which involved extensive proliferation and differentiation. Increasing studies have suggested that recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) may result from defective endometrial stromal decidualization. However, the critical molecular mechanisms underlying impaired decidualization during RSA are still elusive. By using our recently published single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) atlas, we found that MYC-associated factor X (MAX) was significantly downregulated in the stromal cells derived from decidual tissues of women with RSA, followed by verification with immunohistochemistry (IHC) and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). MAX knockdown significantly impairs human endometrial stromal cells (HESCs) proliferation as determined by MTS assay and Ki67 immunostaining, and decidualization determined by F-actin, and decidualization markers. RNA-seq together with chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing (ChIP-seq) and cleavage under targets and release using nuclease sequencing (CUT&RUN-seq) analysis were applied to explore the molecular mechanisms of MAX in regulation of decidualization, followed by dual-luciferase reporter assay to verify that MAX targets to (odd-skipped related transcription factor 2) OSR2 directly. Reduced expression of OSR2 was also confirmed in decidual tissues in women with RSA by IHC and qRT-PCR. OSR2 knockdown also significantly impairs HESCs decidualization. OSR2-overexpression could at least partly rescue the downregulated insulin-like growth factor binding protein 1 (IGFBP1) expression level in response to MAX knockdown. Collectively, MAX deficiency observed in RSA stromal cells not only attenuates HESCs proliferation but also impairs HESCs decidualization by downregulating OSR2 expression at transcriptional level directly.

RESUMEN

AIMS: Limited epidemiological data on the combined impact of several lifestyle factors on type 2 diabetes (T2D) incidence was reported in Chinese population. This study aimed to examine how combinations of BMI, physical activity and diet relate to T2D incidence and estimate corresponding population attributable risk in the general population. METHODS: A total of 56,691 male and 70,849 female participants aged 40-74 years old in two population-based cohorts from the Shanghai Men's and Women's Health Studies were used for analysis. The Cox regression model was used to estimate the association between lifestyle factors collected at baseline and T2D incidence. Multivariable-adjusted population attributable risks were calculated for specific combinations of lifestyle factors. RESULTS: There were 3315 male and 5925 female incident T2D, with corresponding density incidence rates of 6.39 and 6.04 per 1000 person-years. If the healthiest group of healthy lifestyle index (HLI) was used as a reference, the hazard ratios (95% confidence intervals) of T2D increased monotonically in men [2.04 (1.75, 2.38); 2.94 (2.53, 3.42); 4.31 (3.66, 5.07)] and women [1.85 (1.64, 2.08); 2.79 (2.49, 3.13); 4.14 (3.66, 4.67)]. One point increase of HLI was related to 35% and 35% lower risk in men and women. About 52.7% and 58.4% cases in men and women could have been avoided if participants had been adherent to a healthy lifestyle of maintaining healthy body weight, eating a healthy diet and keeping physically active. CONCLUSIONS: An increased number of healthy lifestyle factors were associated with a decreased risk of T2D in the Chinese population. Future interventions targeted at combined healthy lifestyle factors are needed to reduce the burden of T2D.

RESUMEN

The synergy of multiphoton fluorescence imaging (MP-FI) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provides an imaging platform with high resolution and unlimited penetration depth for early disease detection. Herein, two kinds of terpyridine-Mn(II) complexes (FD-Mn-O2NO and FD-Mn-FD) possessing seven and six coordination modes, respectively, were designed rationally for photodynamic therapy (PDT) guided by MP-FI/MRI. The complexes obtain different multiphoton fluorescence/magnetic resonance properties by adjusting the number of terpyridine ligands. Among them, FD-Mn-FD exhibits the following superiorities: (1) The optimal three-photon excitation wavelength of FD-Mn-FD falls at 1450 nm (NIR-II), which brings high sensitivity and deep tissue penetration in MP-FI. (2) FD-Mn-FD has effective longitudinal relaxation efficiency (r1 = 2.6 m M-1 s-1), which can be used for T1-weighted MRI, overcoming the problems of limited tissue penetration depth and low spatial resolution. (3) FD-Mn-FD generates endogenous 1O2 under irradiation by 808 nm light, thereby enhancing the PDT effect in vitro and in vivo. To the best of our knowledge, the complex FD-Mn-FD is the first complex to guide PDT through MP-FI/MRI, providing a blueprint for accurate and effective early detection and timely treatment of the complex in the early stages of cancer.

RESUMEN

Skeletal muscle plays a pivotal role in the maintenance of physical and metabolic health. Skeletal muscle atrophy usually results in physical disability, inferior quality of life and higher health care costs. The higher incidence of muscle atrophy in obese and ageing groups is due to increased levels of inflammatory factors during obesity and ageing. Dihydromyricetin, as a bioactive polyphenol, has been used for anti-inflammatory, anti-tumour and improving insulin sensitivity. However, there are no published reports demonstrated the dihydromyricetin effect on inflammation-induced skeletal muscle atrophy. In this study, we first confirmed the role of dihydromyricetin in inflammation-induced skeletal muscle atrophy in vivo and in vitro. Then, we demonstrated that dihydromyricetin resisted inflammation-induced skeletal muscle atrophy by activating Ca2+ -CaMKK-AMPK through signal pathway blockers, Ca2+ probes and immunofluorescence. Finally, we clarified that dihydromyricetin activated Ca2+ -CaMKK-AMPK signalling pathway through interaction with the ryanodine receptor, its target protein, by drug affinity responsive target stability (DARTS). Our results not only demonstrated that dihydromyricetin resisted inflammation-induced muscle atrophy via the ryanodine receptor-CaMKK-AMPK signal pathway but also discovered that the target protein of dihydromyricetin is the ryanodine receptor. Our results provided experimental data for the development of dihydromyricetin as a functional food and new therapeutic strategies for treating or preventing skeletal muscle atrophy.

RESUMEN

To date, limited studies have focused on the association between dietary fat and liver cancer risk, especially in China. Our study aims to evaluate the association between dietary fat intake and liver cancer incidence risk in men. Dietary fat intake was obtained through a validated food frequency questionnaire in a Chinese prospective cohort. The Cox regression model was utilized to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). After exclusion, 59 998 recruitments were finally analyzed with a total follow-up time of 714 339 person-years, 431 incident liver cancer cases were newly identified among them. The adjusted HRs (95% CIs) for the highest vs lowest quartile of total fat, saturated fat, monounsaturated fat (MUFA), and polyunsaturated fat (PUFA) were 1.33 (1.01-1.75), 1.50 (1.13-1.97), 1.26 (0.96-1.65), and 1.41 (1.07-1.86), and the corresponding P-trend values were .008, .005, .034, and .005, respectively. In the secondary analysis among participants tested for hepatitis B virus, we found that higher intakes of saturated fat and PUFA were also associated with increased liver cancer risks. Besides, high risks of per standard deviation alterations of the total fat, saturated fat and MUFA were detected in liver cancer, and these results were similar to those concluded from the full-cohort analysis. In conclusion, dietary intakes of total fat, saturated fat, PUFA, and probably MUFA might increase liver cancer risks. Our study provides suggestive advice to public administration on dietary suggestions, and related measures taken from managing dietary fat intake might reduce liver cancer incidence.

RESUMEN

STUDY QUESTION: Does osteoprotegerin (OPG) promote human endometrial stromal decidualization? SUMMARY ANSWER: OPG is essential for human endometrial stromal decidualization through its interaction with syndecan-1 to decrease Akt phosphorylation. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY: OPG (a cytokine receptor) levels are significantly increased in the circulation of pregnant women. However, the role and mechanism of OPG in human endometrial stromal cell (ESC) decidualization remain elusive. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION: We analyzed the endometrial expression of OPG in endometrial tissue samples collected from women with regular menstrual cycles (ranging from 25 to 35 days), and decidual tissue samples collected from woman with normal early pregnancy or recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) who visited the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at a tertiary care center from January to October 2018. None of the subjects had hormonal treatment for at least 3 months prior to the procedure. In total, 16 women with normal early pregnancy and 15 with RPL were selected as subjects for this study. The function of OPG in decidualization was explored in a human endometrial stromal cell (HESC) line and primary cultures of HESCs. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS: We collected endometrial tissues (by biopsy) from the subjects during their menstrual cycle and decidual tissues from subjects with a normal early pregnancy and those with RPL at the time of dilation and curettage. The control group comprised randomly selected women who underwent termination of an apparently normal early pregnancy. The endometrial OPG expression was analyzed using immunohistochemical staining and quantitative RT-PCR (qRT-PCR). Immunofluorescence staining and western blot, and qRT-PCR were used to explore the mRNA and protein expression, respectively, of OPG in an immortalized HESC line and in primary cultures of HESC during proliferation and decidualization. siRNA-mediated knockdown experiments were performed to examine the function of OPG in HESC proliferation and decidualization. Flow cytometry and the cell proliferation MTS assay were performed to further examine the role of OPG in HESC proliferation. We also analyzed decidual marker gene expression by qRT-PCR to assess the consequences of OPG loss for HESC decidualization. A co-immunoprecipitation (IP) assay was used to determine the potential interaction between the OPG and Syndecan-1. Western blot analysis of the rescue experiments performed using the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) signaling-specific inhibitor LY294002 was used to investigate the downstream signaling pathways through which OPG could mediate HESC decidualization. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE: OPG was expressed in both the human endometrium and in vitro decidualized ESCs. Knockdown experiments revealed that OPG loss impaired the expression of IGF-binding protein-1 (IGFBP-1) (P < 0.05) and prolactin (PRL) (P < 0.05), two specific markers of decidualization, in HESC undergoing decidualization. We also uncovered that OPG knockdown induced the aberrant activation of Akt (protein kinase B) during HESC decidualization (P < 0.05). The inhibition of Akt activation could rescue the impaired expression of the decidual markers PRL (P < 0.05) and IGFBP-1 (P < 0.05) in response to OPG knockdown. Syndecan-1 was considered a potential receptor candidate, as it was expressed in both the endometrium and in vitro cultured stromal cells. Subsequent co-IP experiments demonstrated the interaction between OPG and Syndecan-1 during decidualization. In addition, Syndecan-1 knockdown not only clearly attenuated the decidualization markers PRL (P < 0.05) and IGFBP-1 (P < 0.05) but also induced the aberrant enhancement of Akt phosphorylation in decidualized cells, consistent with the phenotype of OPG knockdown cells. Finally, we revealed that the transcript and protein expression of both OPG and Syndecan-1 was significantly lower in the decidual samples of women with RPL than in those of women with normal pregnancy (P < 0.05). LARGE SCALE DATA: N/A. LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION: In this study, based on a number of approaches, it was demonstrated that OPG mediated the repression of Akt that occurs during human stromal cell decidualization, however, the molecular link between OPG and Akt signaling was not determined, and still requires further exploration. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS: OPG is required for decidualization, and a decrease in OPG levels is associated with RPL. These findings provide a new candidate molecule for the diagnosis and potential treatment of RPL. RESUMEN

To simplify the protein purification process, we developed a novel one-step purification method in which the recombinant protein can be cleaved directly from the Escherichia coli cell surface. This method involves fusion of the target protein to the C-terminus of a LOS tag comprising a surface anchor protein (Lpp-OmpA) and a sequence-specific nickel-assisted cleavage (SNAC)-tag. The LOS tag facilitates the anchoring of the target protein to the outer membrane of E. coli cells and its separation from the cell membrane through Ni2+ cleavage. Intact, biologically active protein with a purity of 95% and a yield of approximately 100 mg per liter of culture can be readily obtained through Ni2+ cleavage in resuspension solution followed by centrifugation. In this study, a practical and promising protein purification method has been established with minimal labor and cost, as no cell disruption and chromatographic separation are required downstream.

RESUMEN

Two experiments were conducted to investigate whether sexual objectification increases retaliatory aggression serially through increased vulnerability and hostile intent attributions. Female participants were first exposed to the sexual objectification manipulation by receiving compliments from an online male partner (Experiment 1) or imagining a workplace objectification experience (Experiment 2). Afterward, their vulnerability and hostile intent attributions were assessed. Finally, they were given an opportunity to behave aggressively toward the source of objectification. The results of both experiments indicated that, compared with their counterparts in the control conditions, participants in the sexual objectification condition reported higher levels of vulnerability, hostile intent attributions, and aggression. Moreover, vulnerability and hostile intent attributions serially mediated the effect of sexual objectification on aggression. These findings highlight the critical influence of vulnerability and hostile intent attributions in understanding how sexual objectification increases aggression.

RESUMEN

Uterine decidualization, characterized as extensive stromal cell proliferation, differentiation and polyploidization, is a crucial event for successful pregnancy and is tightly regulated by many different molecules and pathways. Prx2, an evolutionarily conserved homeobox transcription factor expressed in both embryos and adults, plays an important role during mesenchymal cell differentiation. However, it remains unclear what the exact function of Prx2 is in the uterine stromal cells, one type of mesenchymal cells. In the present study, employing in vivo and in vitro stromal cell decidualization models, combining adenovirus-mediated overexpression of Prx2, we found that the expression of Prx2 is initiated in the uterine stromal cells once the blastocyst attached to the epithelium and is always detected around the differentiated decidual zone in the anti-mesometrium of the uterus during post-implantation uterine development. Also, overexpression of Prx2 disturbed stromal-decidual differentiation, which is reflected by the decreased expression of decidual/trophoblast prolactin-related protein (Dtprp), the marker for uterine decidualization in mice. Further, we demonstrate that Prx2 overexpression disturbs lipolysis, leading to lipid droplets accumulation in uterine stromal cells, partially mediated by downregulated expression of adipocyte triglyceride lipase. Collectively, these data indicate that uterine Prx2 restrains uterine decidual differentiation through regulating lipid metabolism.

RESUMEN

The technological combination of fuel cells with water electrolysis is an ideal approach to address the problems of growing energy needs and environmental pollution, in which exploring cheap and stable electrocatalysts is the main challenge. Sulfur and nitrogen codoped carbon tubes (SNCTs), prepared by annealing the mixture of amorphous carbonaceous tubes and cysteine, are found to be active bifunctional metal-free electrocatalysts for both oxygen reduction and hydrogen evolution in acidic medium. The optimized SNCT catalyst exhibits a record high onset potential of 851 mV (vs. RHE) for oxygen reduction and concurrent a low overpotential of 76 mV for hydrogen evolution, with superior stability and low cost. The SNCT electrocatalyst could have great potential in proton exchange membrane fuel cells and water splitting devices.

RESUMEN

Morphine is the oldest worldwide well-known opioid agonist used for pain treatment in clinic, and its illicit use is often associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes in humans. Because of recent dramatic increases in nonmedicinal morphine abuse, one emerging issue is the further revelation of the dark side of illicit opioid uses, particularly in early pregnancy events. In this respect, we have demonstrated that opioid signaling is functionally operative during preimplantation embryo development in mice. However, the pathophysiological significance of the opioid system on uterine functions at peri-implantation remained elusive. In the present study, we demonstrated that opioid receptors were spatiotemporally expressed in the uterus during the peri-implantation period. Employing a pharmacological approach combined with embryo transfer experiments, we further observed that although systemic morphine treatment exerts no apparent adverse influence on preimplantation ovarian secretion of progesterone and estrogen, this aberrant activation of opioid signaling by morphine induces impaired luminal epithelial differentiation, decreased stromal cell proliferation, and poor angiogenesis, and thus hampers uterine receptivity and embryo implantation. These novel findings add a new line of evidence to better understand the causes for obvious adverse effects of opioid abuse on pregnancy success in women.

RESUMEN

Uterine stromal cells undergo extensive proliferation and differentiation during postimplantation development, a process known as decidualization. While a range of signaling molecules have been demonstrated to play essential roles in this event, its potential epigenetic regulatory mechanisms remain largely unknown. Retinoblastoma binding protein 7 (Rbbp7) is a protein reported as a core component of many histone modification and chromatin remodeling complexes. In the present study, our in situ hybridization and immunochemistry analysis first reveals a spatiotemporal expression of Rbbp7 in the uterus during the peri-implantation period. Observations of remarkable induction of Rbbp7 expression in uterine stromal cells in response to progesterone-nuclear receptor PR signaling point to its potential physiological significance during postimplantation uterine development. Employing a stealth RNA knockdown approach, combined with primary murine uterine stromal cell culture and an in vitro-induced decidualization model, we further demonstrate that Rbbp7 silencing compromises stromal cell decidualization via attenuating histone H4 acetylation and cyclin D3 expression. The results collectively suggest that Rbbp7 is a potentially functional player regulating normal histone acetylation modification and cyclin D3 expression in stromal cells during postimplantation decidual development.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) using standardized dermatophagoides farina drops for the treatment of allergic rhinitis (AR) in children sensitized to dust mites combined with different allergens. The findings contribute to establishing a preliminary foundation for future in-depth studies on AR treatment. METHODS: A total of 152 AR children undergoing SLIT were categorized into two groups based on serological test results: the inhalation group (dust mite combined with inhalation allergy) and the ingestion group (dust mite combined with ingestion allergy). The clinical efficacy and safety were evaluated by assessing the total nasal symptoms score (TNSS), total medication scores (TMS), visual analog scale scores (VAS scores), and the incidence of adverse reactions before treatment and after two years of treatment. RESULTS: After two years of treatment, TNSS, TMS, and VAS scores significantly improved compared to pre-treatment values in both the inhalation and ingestion groups (p < 0.05). However, there were no significant differences in efficacy between the two groups after two years of treatment (p > 0.05). During the treatment period, only 15 cases (10.9 %, 9 cases in the inhalation group and 6 cases in the ingestion group) experienced mild adverse reactions. There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION: SLIT using standardized dermatophagoides farina drops demonstrates long-term efficacy in children with AR, regardless of whether they belong to the inhalation or ingestion group, without significant differences in treatment outcomes.

RESUMEN

Objectification, being treated as a tool to achieve someone's instrumental goals, is a common phenomenon. A workplace supervisor may view employees solely in terms of their output; likewise, friends may be seen only for their potential for personal and social advancement. We conducted five studies (N = 1209) to test whether objectification increases conspiracy beliefs through thwarted trust and whether postobjectification increases in conspiracy beliefs carry behavioural implications. While conspiracy beliefs may have evolved as a strategy for survival, they may be considered maladaptive in the modern world. Therefore, understanding the antecedents, underlying mechanisms, and implications of conspiracy beliefs is essential. We measured (Study 1) and manipulated objectification (Studies 2-5), consistently finding that objectification decreased trust, thereby increasing conspiracy beliefs (Studies 1-5). This effect remained after considering negative emotions (Study 2). Increased conspiracy beliefs following objectification positively predicted unethical tendencies, and the effect of objectification on unethical tendencies was serially mediated by trust and conspiracy beliefs (Study 4). Restoring objectified people's trust weakened their conspiracy beliefs and unethical tendencies (Study 5). We discussed the implications of our findings, proposing directions for researchers, practitioners, managers, and policymakers for theoretical advancement, healthier coping, and promotion of well-being.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Using the published survival statistics from cancer registration or population-based studies, we aimed to describe the global pattern and trend of lung cancer survival. METHODS: By searching SinoMed, PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, and SEER, all survival analyses from cancer registration or population-based studies of lung cancer were collected by the end of November 2022. The survival rates were extracted by sex, period, and country. The observed, relative, and net survival rates of lung cancer were applied to describe the pattern and time changes from the late 1990s to the early 21st century. RESULTS: Age-standardized 5-year relative/net survival rate of lung cancer was typically low, with 10%-20% for most regions. The highest age-standardized relative/net survival rate was observed in Japan (32.9%, 2010-2014), and the lowest was in India (3.7%, 2010-2014). In most countries, the five-year age-standardized relative/net survival rates of lung cancer were higher in females and younger people. The patients with adenocarcinoma had a better prognosis than other groups. In China, the highest 5-year overall relative/net survival rates were 27.90% and 31.62% in men and women in Jiangyin (2012-2013). CONCLUSION: Over the past decades, the prognosis of lung cancer has gradually improved, but significant variations were also observed globally. Worldwide, a better prognosis of lung cancer can be observed in females and younger patients. It is essential to compare and evaluate the histological or stage-specific survival rates of lung cancer between different regions in the future.

RESUMEN

Two kinds of boron and nitrogen co-doped carbon nanotubes (CNTs) dominated by bonded or separated B and N are intentionally prepared, which present distinct oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) performances. The experimental and theoretical results indicate that the bonded case cannot, while the separated one can, turn the inert CNTs into ORR electrocatalysts. This progress demonstrates the crucial role of the doping microstructure on ORR performance, which is of significance in exploring the advanced C-based metal-free electrocatalysts.
