The identification of transcription factor binding sites, enhancers, and transcriptional target genes often relies on the integration of gene expression profiling and computational cis-regulatory sequence analysis. Methods for the prediction of cis-regulatory elements can take advantage of comparative genomics to increase signal-to-noise levels. However, gene expression data are usually derived from only one species. Here we investigate tissue-specific cross-species gene expression profiling by high-throughput sequencing, combined with cross-species motif discovery. First, we compared different methods for expression level quantification and cross-species integration using Tag-seq data. Using the optimal pipeline, we derived a set of genes with conserved expression during retinal determination across Drosophila melanogaster, Drosophila yakuba, and Drosophila virilis. These genes are enriched for binding sites of eye-related transcription factors including the zinc-finger Glass, a master regulator of photoreceptor differentiation. Validation of predicted Glass targets using RNA-seq in homozygous glass mutants confirms that the majority of our predictions are expressed downstream from Glass. Finally, we tested nine candidate enhancers by in vivo reporter assays and found eight of them to drive GFP in the eye disc, of which seven colocalize with the Glass protein, namely, scrt, chp, dpr10, CG6329, retn, Lim3, and dmrt99B. In conclusion, we show for the first time the combined use of cross-species expression profiling with cross-species motif discovery as a method to define a core developmental program, and we augment the candidate Glass targetome from a single known target gene, lozenge, to at least 62 conserved transcriptional targets.

Strain S658(T) was isolated from a Lotus corniculatus nodule in a soil sample obtained in Uruguay. Phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA gene and atpD gene showed that this strain clustered within the genus Phyllobacterium. The closest related species was, in both cases, Phyllobacterium trifolii PETP02(T) with 99.8â% sequence similarity in the 16S rRNA gene and 96.1â% in the atpD gene. The 16S rRNA gene contains an insert at the beginning of the sequence that has no similarities with other inserts present in the same gene in described rhizobial species. Ubiquinone Q-10 was the only quinone detected. Strain S658(T) differed from its closest relatives through its growth in diverse culture conditions and in the assimilation of several carbon sources. It was not able to reproduce nodules in Lotus corniculatus. The results of DNA-DNA hybridization, phenotypic tests and fatty acid analyses confirmed that this strain should be classified as a representative of a novel species of the genus Phyllobacterium, for which the name Phyllobacterium loti sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is S658(T)(â=âLMG 27289(T)â=âCECT 8230(T)).

Resumen Este trabajo reporta la presencia inusual de especies de la familia Carangidae en los desembarcaderos de la provincia de Pisco (13.5° S), departamento de Ica, ocurridos durante el evento El Niño costero 2017. Se observaron 4 especies: Caranx caballus, Caranx caninus, Oligoplites saurus y Selene brevoortii capturadas con el arte de pesca "cortina agallera". Durante el periodo de El Niño costero 2017 en el área de estudio se registraron temperaturas superiores a los 26 °C y salinidades moderadamente elevadas (> 35.1 ups), condiciones que habrían favorecido el desplazamiento de estas especies, frecuentes en el norte del Perú, hacia latitudes superiores.
Abstract This work reports the unusual presence of species of the Carangidae family in Pisco province coast (13.5° S), department of Ica, which occurred during the El Niño costero 2017 event. Four species were observed: Caranx caballus, Caranx caninus, Oligoplites saurus y Selene brevoortii were captured with the "cortina agallera" fishing gear. During the El Niño costero 2017 in the study area, temperatures above 26 °C and moderately high salinities (> 35.1 ups) were recorded, conditions would have favored the displacement of these species, frequent in the north of Peru, towards higher latitudes.
RESUMEN
Resumen En el presente trabajo a través de la pesca artesanal se registra por primera vez Thysanoteuthis rhombus en el litoral de Pisco y se amplía su rango de distribución en el pacífico oriental hasta Ica, Perú. Un ejemplar de 68 cm LM fue capturado entre los 13°50'00" S y 77°08'00" W a 50 metros de profundidad. Se realiza una breve descripción de la especie, con observaciones taxonómicas y comentarios sobre su distribución geográfica y pesquería.
Abstract In this paper, Thysanoteuthis rhombus is first registered in the coast of Pisco and its distribution range in the Eastern Pacific is extended to Ica, Peru. A 68 cm LM specimen was captured between 13°50'00"S and 77°08'00"W at 50 meters depth. A brief description of the species is given, with taxonomic observations and comments on its geographic distribution and fishery.

Se desarrolló un Manual para la elaboración del Certificado Médico de Defunción en la ciudad de Cárdenas. El producto consta de prólogo, índice, dos capítulos, autoevaluaciones y anexos. El universo estuvo constituido por 98 estudiantes de Medicina y se utilizó una muestra de 64 pertenecientes a la Filial de Ciencias Médicas Gabriela Arias que consintieron en participar en el estudio. Se aplicó una encuesta inicial sobre el tema la cual arrojó un 6,25 por ciento del total de estudiantes evaluados de regular y un 93,75 por ciento evaluados de mal. Se demostró, después de la aplicación del manual, una mejoría significativa del nivel de conocimientos al predominar estudiantes evaluados de bien representando el 85,94 por ciento del total. El 100 porciento de los encuestados poseen un alto nivel de satisfacción con el uso del producto.
It was developed a handbook for the elaboration of the Medical Certificate of Death in Cardenas. The product consists of a prologue, an index, two chapters, self-evaluations and annexes. The universe was formed by 978 Medicine students and it was used a sample of 64 students from the Branch of the Medical Sciences University Gabriela Arias, who gave their consent to taking part in the study. An initial inquiry on the topic was applied and it resulted in 6,25 per cent of the total of students evaluated of regular and 93,75 per cent of bad. After applying the handbook, it was showed a significant improvement of the knowledge level predominating students evaluated of good; they represented 85,94 per cent of the total. 100 per cent of the inquired showed a high level of satisfaction with the use of the product.
