RESUMEN

Understanding dosage sensitivity or why Mendelian diseases have dominant vs. recessive modes of inheritance is crucial for uncovering the etiology of human disease. Previous knowledge of dosage sensitivity is mainly based on observations of rare loss-of-function mutations or copy number changes, which are underpowered due to ultra rareness of such variants. Thus, the functional underpinnings of dosage constraint remain elusive. In this study, we aim to systematically quantify dosage perturbations from cis-regulatory variants in the general population to yield a tissue-specific dosage constraint map of genes and further explore their underlying functional logic. We reveal an inherent divergence of dosage constraints in genes by functional categories with signaling genes (transcription factors, protein kinases, ion channels, and cellular machinery) being dosage sensitive, while effector genes (transporters, metabolic enzymes, cytokines, and receptors) are generally dosage resilient. Instead of being a metric of functional dispensability, we show that dosage constraint reflects underlying homeostatic constraints arising from negative feedback. Finally, we employ machine learning to integrate DNA and RNA metrics to generate a comprehensive, tissue-specific map of dosage sensitivity (MoDs) for autosomal genes.

Thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) is characterized by dilation of the aortic root or ascending/descending aorta. TAA is a heritable disease that can be potentially life threatening. While 10%-20% of TAA cases are caused by rare, pathogenic variants in single genes, the origin of the majority of TAA cases remains unknown. A previous study implicated common variants in FBN1 with TAA disease risk. Here, we report a genome-wide scan of 1,351 TAA-affected individuals and 18,295 control individuals from the Cardiovascular Health Improvement Project and Michigan Genomics Initiative at the University of Michigan. We identified a genome-wide significant association with TAA for variants within the third intron of TCF7L2 following replication with meta-analysis of four additional independent cohorts. Common variants in this locus are the strongest known genetic risk factor for type 2 diabetes. Although evidence indicates the presence of different causal variants for TAA and type 2 diabetes at this locus, we observed an opposite direction of effect. The genetic association for TAA colocalizes with an aortic eQTL of TCF7L2, suggesting a functional relationship. These analyses predict an association of higher expression of TCF7L2 with TAA disease risk. In vitro, we show that upregulation of TCF7L2 is associated with BCL2 repression promoting vascular smooth muscle cell apoptosis, a key driver of TAA disease.

RESUMEN

Auto-focusing is an essential task for lens-free holographic microscopy, which has developed many methods for high precision or fast refocusing. In this work, we derive the relationship among intensity derivation, the derivative of spectral distribution, as well as the distribution of the object, and propose a new auto-focusing criterion, the Robert critical function with axial difference (RCAD), to enhance the accuracy of distance estimation for lens-free imaging with the ultra-broadband light source. This method consists of three steps: image acquisition and preprocessing, axial-difference calculation, and distance estimation with sharpness analysis. The simulations and experiments demonstrate that the accuracy of this metric on auto-focusing with the ultra-broadband spectrum can effectively assist in determining the off-focus distance. The experiments are conducted in an ultra-broad-spectrum on-chip system, where the samples including the resolution target and the cross-section of the Tilia stem are employed to maximize the applicability of this method. We believe that the RCAD criterion is expected to be a useful auxiliary tool for lens-free on-chip microscopes with ultra-broadband spectrum illumination.

The formation of a five- or six-membered ring is known to stabilize unstable molecular structures such as hemiacetals. This idea can also be extended to stabilize other high-coordinated p-block element species. Herein, we synthesized two novel polycyclic organophosphorus heterocycles via Staudinger-type annulations. Reactions of either ortho-phosphinoarenesulfonyl fluorides 1 or ortho-phosphinobenzoic acid methyl esters 4 with ortho-azidophenols 2 gave rise to penta-coordinated P(V) heterocycles, benzo-benzo-1,2,3-thiazaphospholo-1,3,2-oxazaphosphole (B-B-TAP-OAP) 3 and benzo-benzo-1,2-azaphospholo-1,3,2-oxazaphosphol-12-one (B-B-AP-OAP) 5 in satisfactory yields. It is remarkable that heterocycles 3 and 5 are both bench-stable and exhibit considerable stability in a 10 % aqueous tetrahydrofuran solution. Preliminary computational studies disclosed that the formation of nitrogen gas is the key driving force for the annulations. In addition, the formation of a strong Si-F bond is another contributor to the annulation of 1 and 2.

Alzheimer's disease can be detected early through biomarkers such as tau positron emission tomography (PET) imaging, which shows abnormal protein accumulations in the brain. The standardized uptake value ratio (SUVR) is often used to quantify tau-PET imaging, but topological information from multiple brain regions is also linked to tau pathology. Here a new method was developed to investigate the correlations between brain regions using subject-level tau networks. Participants with cognitive normal (74), early mild cognitive impairment (35), late mild cognitive impairment (32), and Alzheimer's disease (40) were included. The abnormality network from each scan was constructed to extract topological features, and 7 functional clusters were further analyzed for connectivity strengths. Results showed that the proposed method performed better than conventional SUVR measures for disease staging and prodromal sign detection. For example, when to differ healthy subjects with and without amyloid deposition, topological biomarker is significant with P < 0.01, SUVR is not with P > 0.05. Functionally significant clusters, i.e. medial temporal lobe, default mode network, and visual-related regions, were identified as critical hubs vulnerable to early disease conversion before mild cognitive impairment. These findings were replicated in an independent data cohort, demonstrating the potential to monitor the early sign and progression of Alzheimer's disease from a topological perspective for individual.

Processing transition metal carbides/nitrides (MXenes) inks into large-area functional coatings expects promising potential for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and infrared stealth. However, the coating performances, especially for scalable fabrication techniques, are greatly constrained by the flake size and stacking manner of MXene. Herein, the large-area production of highly densified and oriented MXene coatings is demonstrated by engineering interfacial interactions of small MXene flakes with catecholamine molecules. The catecholamine molecules can micro-crosslink MXene nanosheets, significantly improving the ink's rheological properties. It favors the shear-induced sheet arrangement and inhibition of structural defects in the blade coating process, making it possible to achieve high orientation and densification of MXene assembly by either large-area coating or patterned printing. Interestingly, the MXene/catecholamine coating exhibits high conductivity of up to 12 247 S cm-1 and ultrahigh specific EMI shielding effectiveness of 2.0 ×10 5  dB cm2 g-1 , obviously superior to most of the reported MXene materials. Furthermore, the regularly assembled structure also endows the MXene coatings with low infrared emissivities for infrared stealth applications. Therefore, MXene/catecholamine coatings with ultraefficient EMI shielding and low infrared emissivity prove the feasibility of applications in aerospace, military, and wearable devices.

Microplastics (MPs) are abundant in air, but evidence of their deposition in the respiratory tract is limited. We conducted a prospective case series to investigate the deposition of microplastics in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and determine the internal dose of MPs via inhalation. Eighteen never-smokers aged 32-74 years who underwent fiberoptic bronchoscopy with BALF were recruited from Zhuhai, China. Control samples were obtained by performing the same procedure using isotonic saline instead of BALF. Laser direct infrared spectroscopy combined with scanning electron microscopy detected the presence and characteristics of MPs and quantitatively analyzed the microplastic in BALF and control samples. Concentrations of total and specific MPs in BALF and control samples were compared using the Wilcox test. Thirteen types of MPs were observed in 18 BALF samples. Polyethylene (PE, 86.1%) was the most abundant in BALF, followed by poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET, 7.5%) and polypropylene (PP, 1.9%). Compared with the control samples, BALF had significantly higher concentrations of PE (median [IQR] of BALF: 0.38 [8.05] N/g), PET (0.26 [0.54] N/g), polyurethane (0.16 [0.24] N/g), PP (0.16 [0.11] N/g), and total MPs (0.91 [6.58] N/g). The presence of MPs in BALF provides novel evidence that MPs penetrate deep into the respiratory tract.

INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference in clinical and aortic morphological features between the bovine aortic arch and normal aortic arch in patients with acute type B aortic dissection (aTBAD). METHODS: A total of 133 patients diagnosed with aTBAD were retrospectively collected. Based on aortic arch morphology, they were divided into the bovine aortic arch group (n = 20) and the normal aortic arch group (n = 113). Aortic morphological features were assessed on computed tomographic angiography. Clinical and aortic morphological features were then compared between the bovine aortic arch and normal aortic arch groups. RESULTS: Patients in the bovine aortic arch group were significantly younger and with higher weight and BMI than the normal aortic arch group (p < 0.001, p = 0.045, and p = 0.016, respectively). The total aortic length in the bovine aortic arch group was significantly shorter than that in the normal aortic arch group (p = 0.039). The tortuosity of descending thoracic aorta, the tortuosity of descending aorta, and the angulation of aortic arch were significantly lower in the bovine aortic arch group (p = 0.004, p = 0.015, and p = 0.023, respectively). The width of descending aorta, the height of aorta arch, and the angle of ascending aorta were significantly smaller in the bovine aortic arch group (p = 0.045, p = 0.044, and p = 0.042, respectively). CONCLUSION: When the aTBAD occurred, patients with bovine aortic arch were prone to be younger and with higher BMI than those with normal aortic arch. The aortic curvature and the total aortic length were lower in patients with bovine aortic arch.

BACKGROUND: In the diagnosis of bloodstream infection (BSI), various inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin (PCT), interleukins (IL), white blood cell count (WBC), neutrophil percentage (NE%), platelet count (PLT), and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) have been extensively utilized. However, their specific roles in distinguishing BSI from local bacterial infection (LBI) and in classifying BSI pathogens remain uncertain. METHODS: A historical cohort study was conducted, involving the enrollment of 505 patients with BSI and 102 patients with LBI. To validate the reliability of the clinical data obtained from this cohort, mouse models of BSI were utilized. RESULTS: Our findings revealed that patients with BSI had significantly higher levels of inflammatory markers, including CRP, PCT, IL-6, IL-10, WBC, NE%, and ESR, compared to those with LBI (p < 0.05). The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis demonstrated that CRP, PCT, IL-6, IL-10, ESR and NE% exhibited excellent diagnostic efficacy for BSI. Additionally, we observed significant differences in CRP, PCT, IL-6, and IL-10 levels between patients with BSI caused by Gram-positive bacteria (GP-BSI) and Gram-negative bacteria (GN-BSI), but no significant variations were found among specific bacterial species. Furthermore, our study also found that CRP, PCT, and IL-10 have good discriminatory ability for vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE), but they show no significant diagnostic efficacy for other multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) such as carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE), carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (CRPA), and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). In our mouse model experiments, we observed a remarkable increase in PCT, IL-6, and IL-10 levels in mice with GN-BSI compared to those with GP-BSI. CONCLUSION: Our study has confirmed that PCT, IL-6, and IL-10 are efficient biomarkers for distinguishing between BSI and LBI. Furthermore, they can be utilized to classify BSI pathogens and differentiate between VRE and vancomycin-susceptible Enterococcus. These findings are extremely valuable for clinicians as they enable timely initiation of empiric antibiotic therapies and ultimately lead to improved clinical outcomes for patients with BSI.

Unprecedented Staudinger reaction modes of secondary phosphine oxides (SPO) and organic azides are herein disclosed. By the application of various additives, selective nitrogen atom exclusion from the azide group has been achieved. Chlorotrimethylsilane mediates a stereoretentive Staudinger reaction with a 2-N exclusion which provides a valuable method for the synthesis of phosphinic amides and can be considered complementary to the stereoinvertive Atherton-Todd reaction. Alternatively, a 1-N exclusion pathway is promoted by acetic acid to provide the corresponding diazo compound. The effectiveness of this protocol has been further demonstrated by the total synthesis of the diazo-containing natural product LL-D05139ß, which was prepared as a potassium salt for the first time in 6 steps and 26.5 % overall yield.

BACKGROUND: The objective of this study was to reveal the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway in white (Z6), red (Z27) and black (HC4) seeds of the sweet sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) using metabolomics and transcriptomics, to identify different flavonoid metabolites, and to analyze the differentially expressed genes involved in flavonoid biosynthesis. RESULTS: We analyzed the metabolomics and transcriptomics data of sweet sorghum seeds. Six hundred and fifty-one metabolites including 171 flavonoids were identified in three samples. Integrated analysis of transcriptomics and metabolomics showed that 8 chalcone synthase genes (gene19114, gene19115, gene19116, gene19117, gene19118, gene19120, gene19122 and gene19123) involved in flavonoid biosynthesis, were identified and play central role in change of color. Six flavanone including homoeriodictyol, naringin, prunin, naringenin, hesperetin and pinocembrin were main reason for the color difference. CONCLUSIONS: Our results provide valuable information on the flavonoid metabolites and the candidate genes involved in the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway in sweet sorghum seeds.

BACKGROUND: Deaths attributed to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) are mainly due to severe hypoxemic respiratory failure. Although the inflammatory storm has been considered the main pathogenesis of severe COVID-19, hypersensitivity may be another important mechanism involved in severe cases, which have a perfect response to corticosteroids (CS). METHOD: We detected the serum level of anti-SARS-CoV-2-spike S1 protein-specific IgE (SP-IgE) and anti-SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein-specific IgE (NP-IgE) in COVID-19. Correlation of levels of specific IgE and clinical severity were analysed. Pulmonary function test and bronchial provocation test were conducted in early convalescence of COVID-19. We also obtained histological samples via endoscopy to detect the evidence of mast cell activation. RESULT: The levels of serum SP-IgE and NP-IgE were significantly higher in severe cases, and were correlated with the total lung severity scores (TLSS) and the PaO2 /FiO2 ratio. Nucleocapsid protein could be detected in both airway and intestinal tissues, which was stained positive together with activated mast cells, binded with IgE. Airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR) exists in the early convalescence of COVID-19. After the application of CS in severe COVID-19, SP-IgE and NP-IgE decreased, but maintained at a high level. CONCLUSION: Hypersensitivity may be involved in severe COVID-19.

BACKGROUND: Enterobacter cloacae complex (ECC) is a common opportunistic pathogen and is responsible for causing various infections in humans. Owing to its inducible chromosomal AmpC ß-lactamase (AmpC), ECC is inherently resistant to the 1st- and 2nd- generation cephalosporins. However, whether ß-lactams antibiotics enhance ECC resistance remains unclear. RESULTS: In this study, we found that subinhibitory concentrations (SICs) of cefazolin (CFZ) and imipenem (IMP) can advance the expression of AmpC and enhance its resistance towards ß-lactams through NagZ in Enterobacter cloacae (EC). Further, AmpC manifested a substantial upregulation in EC in response to SICs of CFZ and IMP. In nagZ knockout EC (ΔnagZ), the resistance to ß-lactam antibiotics was rather weakened and the effect of CFZ and IMP on AmpC induction was completely abrogated. NagZ ectopic expression can rescue the induction effects of CFZ and IMP on AmpC and increase ΔnagZ resistance. More importantly, CFZ and IMP have the potential to induce the expression of AmpR's target genes in a NagZ-dependent manner. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that NagZ is a critical determinant for CFZ and IMP to promote AmpC expression and resistance and that CFZ and IMP should be used with caution since they may aggravate ECC resistance. At the same time, this study further improves our understanding of resistance mechanisms in ECC.

INTRODUCTION: Distinct physiological states arise from complex interactions among the various organs present in the human body. PET is a non-invasive modality with numerous successful applications in oncology, neurology, and cardiology. However, while PET imaging has been applied extensively in detecting focal lesions or diseases, its potential in detecting systemic abnormalities is seldom explored, mostly because total-body imaging was not possible until recently. METHODS: In this context, the present study proposes a framework capable of constructing an individual metabolic abnormality network using a subject's whole-body 18F-FDG SUV image and a normal control database. The developed framework was evaluated in the patients with lung cancer, the one discharged after suffering from Covid-19 disease, and the one that had gastrointestinal bleeding with the underlying cause unknown. RESULTS: The framework could successfully capture the deviation of these patients from healthy subjects at the level of both system and organ. The strength of the altered network edges revealed the abnormal metabolic connection between organs. The overall deviation of the network nodes was observed to be highly correlated to the organ SUV measures. Therefore, the molecular connectivity of glucose metabolism was characterized at a single subject level. CONCLUSION: The proposed framework represents a significant step toward the use of PET imaging for identifying metabolic dysfunction from a systemic perspective. A better understanding of the underlying biological mechanisms and the physiological interpretation of the interregional connections identified in the present study warrant further research.

Most blood vessels are surrounded by perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT), which is a unique adipose tissue that plays critical roles in vascular physiology and pathophysiology. PVAT displays regional differences that impact vascular homeostasis. Angiotensin II (Ang II) is the main biologically active component of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), which has been extensively studied in vascular biology. However, the effects of Ang II on PVAT are less explored and remain to be elucidated. In this study, we systematically investigated the regional heterogeneity of three portions of aortic PVAT, i.e., ascending thoracic aortic PVAT (ATA-PVAT), descending thoracic aortic PVAT (DTA-PVAT) and abdominal aortic PVAT (AA-PVAT), and their responses to 7-day Ang II infusion using RNA sequencing. We found that AA-PVAT is clearly distinguished from both ATA-PVAT and DTA-PVAT, with significantly down-regulated oxidative phosphorylation and up-regulated inflammatory response pathways. Furthermore, AA-PVAT expresses lower levels of brown adipocyte marker genes, such as Ucp1, Cidea, Cox8b, Dio2 and Pgc1α, but expresses higher levels of proinflammatory genes, such as Ccl2, Il1ß and Tnfα, and components of the RAAS, including Agt, Ace and Agtr1a. Ang II infusion significantly down-regulated oxidative phosphorylation in all regions of aortic PVAT and significantly up-regulated inflammatory response specifically in ATA-PVAT and DTA-PVAT. Moreover, ATA-PVAT was most responsive to Ang II induced inflammation. We further used CDGSH iron-sulfur domain-containing protein 1 (a.k.a. mitoNEET) transgenic mice that exhibit enhanced brown adipose tissue (BAT)-like phenotype in aortic PVAT, as indicated by elevated expression levels of brown adipocyte marker genes, and found that the enhanced BAT-like phenotype of aortic PVAT could counterbalance Ang II induced inflammatory and oxidative effects.

BACKGROUND: The outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 lead to a worldwide pandemic which poses substantial challenges to public health. METHODS: We enrolled 102 consecutive recovered patients with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. Epidemiological and demographic characteristics, temporal dynamic profiles of laboratory tests and findings on chest CT radiography, and clinical outcomes were collected and analyzed. RESULTS: Independent risk factors for prolonged fever, viral RNA shedding or radiologic recovery included age of more than 44 years, female gender, having symptoms of cough and fever, a delay from the symptom onset to hospitalization of more than 3 days, a lower CD4 count of less than 500/µL on admission, and severe or critical illness in hospitalization. The estimated median time from symptom onset was 6.4 (5.5 - 7.4) days to peak viral load, 9.1 (7.9 - 10.4) days to afebrile, 8 (6.7 - 9.4) days to worst radiologic finding, 12.7 (11.2 - 14.3) days to viral RNA negativity, and 26.7 (23.8 - 29.9) days to radiologic resolution. This study included the entire cross-section of patients seen in our clinical practice and reflected the real-world situation. CONCLUSIONS: These findings provide the rationale for strategies of active symptom monitoring, timing of quarantine and antiviral interventions, and duration of radiologic follow-up in patients with COVID-19.

Conventional Staudinger reductions of organic azides are sluggish with aryl or bulky aliphatic azides. In addition, Staudinger reduction usually requires a large excess of water to promote the decomposition of the aza-ylide intermediate into phosphine oxide and amine products. To overcome the challenges above, we designed a novel triaryl phosphine reagent 2c with an ortho-SO2NH2 substituent. Herein, we report that such phosphine reagents are able to mediate the Staudinger reduction of both aryl and alkyl azides in either anhydrous or wet solvents. Good to excellent yields were obtained in all cases (even at a diluted concentration of 0.01 M). The formation of B-TAP, a cyclic aza-ylide, instead of phosphine oxide, eliminates the requirement of water in the Staudinger reduction. In addition, computational studies disclose that the intramolecular protonation of the aza-ylide by the ortho-SO2NH2 group is kinetically favorable and responsible for the acceleration of Staudinger reduction of the aryl azides.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease, and ß-amyloid (Aß) is believed to be a causative factor in AD pathology. The abnormal deposition of Aß is believed to be responsible for progression of AD. In order to facilitate the imaging of Aß in vivo, suitable probe molecules with a near-infrared emission wavelength that can penetrate the blood-brain barrier (BBB) were utilized. The commercial fluorescent probe thioflavin-T (ThT) is used to image Aß; however, because of its short emission wavelength and poor BBB penetration, ThT can only be used in vitro. With this research, based on ThT, we design three fluorescent probes (SZIs) having a longer emission wavelength in order to image Aß aggregates. SZIs with different numbers of double bonds respond to Aß aggregates. The SZIs have a structure similar to ThT, and as such, the SZIs are also unable to penetrate the BBB. To deal with the problem, we develop nanocomposites (MSN-Lf@SZIs) to deliver SZIs into the brain of AD mouse and image Aß successfully. These new nanocomposites are able to deliver the dyes into the brain and facilitate Aß imaging in vivo.

BACKGROUND: To illustrate the extent of transmission, identify affecting risk factors and estimate epidemiological modeling parameters of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in household setting. METHODS: We enrolled 35 confirmed index cases and their 148 household contacts, January 2020-February 2020, in Zhuhai, China. All participants were interviewed and asked to complete questionnaires. Household contacts were then prospectively followed active symptom monitoring through the 21-day period and nasopharyngeal and/or oropharyngeal swabs were collected at 3-7 days intervals. Epidemiological, demographic, and clinical data (when available) were collected. RESULTS: Assuming that all these secondary cases were infected by their index cases, the second infection rate in household context is 32.4% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 22.4%-44.4%), with 10.4% of secondary cases being asymptomatic. Multivariate analysis showed that household contacts with underlying medical conditions, a history of direct exposure to Wuhan and its surrounding areas, and shared vehicle with an index patient were associated with higher susceptibility. Household members without protective measures after illness onset of the index patient seem to increase the risk for SARS-CoV-2 infection. The median incubation period and serial interval within household were estimated to be 4.3 days (95% CI: 3.4-5.3 days) and 5.1 days (95% CI: 4.3-6.2 days), respectively. CONCLUSION: Early isolation of patients with coronavirus disease 2019 and prioritizing rapid contact investigation, followed by active symptom monitoring and periodic laboratory evaluation, should be initiated immediately after confirming patients to address the underlying determinants driving the continuing pandemic.

OBJECTIVE: This study investigated the influence of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) on lung function in early convalescence phase. METHODS: A retrospective study of COVID-19 patients at the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University were conducted, with serial assessments including lung volumes (TLC), spirometry (FVC, FEV1), lung diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide (DLCO),respiratory muscle strength, 6-min walking distance (6MWD) and high resolution CT being collected at 30 days after discharged. RESULTS: Fifty-seven patients completed the serial assessments. There were 40 non-severe cases and 17 severe cases. Thirty-one patients (54.3%) had abnormal CT findings. Abnormalities were detected in the pulmonary function tests in 43 (75.4%) of the patients. Six (10.5%), 5(8.7%), 25(43.8%) 7(12.3%), and 30 (52.6%) patients had FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FVC ratio, TLC, and DLCO values less than 80% of predicted values, respectively. 28 (49.1%) and 13 (22.8%) patients had PImax and PEmax values less than 80% of the corresponding predicted values. Compared with non-severe cases, severe patients showed higher incidence of DLCO impairment (75.6%vs42.5%, p = 0.019), higher lung total severity score (TSS) and R20, and significantly lower percentage of predicted TLC and 6MWD. No significant correlation between TSS and pulmonary function parameters was found during follow-up visit. CONCLUSION: Impaired diffusing-capacity, lower respiratory muscle strength, and lung imaging abnormalities were detected in more than half of the COVID-19 patients in early convalescence phase. Compared with non-severe cases, severe patients had a higher incidence of DLCO impairment and encountered more TLC decrease and 6MWD decline.
