Glycyrrhizic acid alleviates cisplatin-induced ototoxicity by inhibiting in-flammation of cochlear in C57BL/6J mice / 中国病理生理杂志

AIM:To study whether glycyrrhizic acid(GL)can resist the ototoxicity of cisplatin(CDDP)in mice and its molecular mechanism.METHODS:Male C57BL/6J mice were divided into 5 groups:control group,DMSO(5%)group,CDDP(4 mg/kg)group,CDDP+low-dose(50 mg/kg)GL group,and CDDP+high-dose(100 mg/kg)GL group(n=14).Auditory brainstem response(ABR)was used to detect hearing changes of mice.HE staining was used to observe the morphological change of cochlear stria vascular in mice.Evans blue(EB)staining was used to observe the per-meability change of the blood-labyrinth barrier(BLB).Immunohistochemical technique was used to detect the expression and distribution of adhesion protein VE-cadherin and tight junction protein ZO-1 on the cochlear stria.ELISA assay and immunofluorescence technology were employed to detect the expression of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and interleu-kin-1β(1L-1β).RESULTS:In CDDP group,ABR waveforms of all frequencies were disturbed,the hearing threshold was significantly increased,and I wave latency was prolonged(P＜0.05).In CDDP+GL group,ABR waveforms of various frequencies were well differentiated,the hearing threshold was significantly decreased,and the latency of I-wave was shortened(P＜0.01).The disordered morphology and more vacuoles in the stria vascularis were observed by HE staining in CDDP group.The GL alleviated CDDP-induced damage in the stria vascularis.In EB staining,CDDP caused an increase in per-meability of BLB(P＜0.01),which was improved by GL treatment(P＜0.01).Immunohistochemical results showed that the expression of VE-cadherin and ZO-1 in CDDP group were decreased(P＜0.01),which was restored in CDDP+GL group(P＜0.01).The ELISA and immunofluorescence results showed that the expression of IL-1β and TNF-α was in-creased after CDDP treatment(P＜0.01),which was restored in CDDP+GL group(P＜0.01).CONCLUSION:The GL alleviates CDDP-induced hearing loss in mice by inhibiting CDDP-induced inflammation and reducing the permeability of BLB.

Alterations of Glutamate and γ-Aminobutyric Acid Expressions in Normal and Myopic Eye Development in Guinea Pigs.

Purpose: The retina has an important role in the signal transmission related to eye development and myopia. Glutamate (Glu) and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) are the major excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters in the retina, which can affect the development of both the eye and myopia. Nevertheless, change in the balance between the excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters still is unclear during development of eyes and myopia. The purpose of this study was to explore the alterations of the ratio of Glu to GABA (RGG), which mediates the balance between the excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters in retina in the development of the eyes and lens-induced myopia (LIM) in a guinea pig model. Method: An LIM guinea pig model was established using a -10 diopter (D) negative lens. The levels of Glu, GABA, and the dynamic change of RGG were measured in the retina in normal and myopia guinea pigs at four time points (i.e., 0, 2, 4, and 6 weeks after onset of LIM). Considering that Glu and GABA are related closely to the occurrence of myopia, we further studied the changes of RGG in the retina in LIM guinea pigs. Result: Our results showed that the RGG was upregulated and was well correlated with diopter and axial length than either Glu or GABA during the development of normal eyes. Besides, we observed that the content of the RGG in the retina in myopia eyes was higher than that of Glu and GABA in normal subjects and was an obviously positive correlation. Conclusions: Taken together, our findings suggest that the RGG has a pivotal role in eye development and myopia. The abnormal retina signal induced by the unbalanced ratio between Glu and GABA is related closely to the occurrence of myopia.

Combing with practice, this paper puts forward teaching reform strategies from such five aspects as teaching purpose, curriculum system, construction of the teaching team, evaluation system, and practice effect, providing a new thought for the cultivation of applied innovative talents in ophthalmology.

The teaching mode was reformed to "2+2" mode, "double-position teachers" became the requirement for the teaching staff and professional education comprehensive practice platform of "one entity, two wings" was constructed, with good effectiveness being achieved.

Path on the management of surgical graded and refined management based on information technology / 中华医院管理杂志

The authors attempted to use information technology in hierarchical management on clinician′s surgical authority. By means of a hierarchical surgery catalogue database, clinicians′ surgical authority is subject to by-level IT-based approval, and such authorities as clinician′s surgical medical advice, application for surgery, and approval of special surgeries are regulated. Thanks to multi-dimensional objective data, clinicians′surgical competence is subject to a dynamic evaluation, hierarchical authorization and reauthorization. These measures further standardize the behavior of the surgeons, and rule out unauthorized operations, thus improving fine management of surgeries and ensuring patient safety.

Recent advances in genetic study on high myopia / 眼科新进展

High myopia is a common blinding eye disease with high specificity and population genetic heterogeneity.It has emerged as a major public health concern,which is often accompanied by many severe associated comorbidities,including retinal detachment,cataract and glaucoma.While rarely effective treatment Is found so far.This article reviews recent advances in understanding genetic mechanism of high myopia,such as mode of inheritance,MYP locus and candidate genes.

VEGF and VEGFR Expressions in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer with Malignant Pleural Effusion / 中国医科大学学报

Objective To investigate the expression of VEGF and VEGFR in non?small cell lung cancer patients with malignant pleural effusion, and analyze the relationship between VEGF and VEGFR and malignant pleural effusion. Methods The VEGF and VEGFR expression were detect?ed using immunohistochemistry in pleural and lung tumors tissues of 30Ⅳstage non?small cell lung cancer patients,and the relationship between VEGF and VEGFR expression and malignant pleural effusion was analyzed. Results The expression of VEGF and VEGFR in pleural tissue of pa?tients with malignant pleural effusion was significantly higher than those without malignant pleural effusion(P<0.05). Conclusion There is a very close correlation between high expression of VEGF and VEGFR and formation of malignant pleural effusion.

A comparative study on the psychiatric specialist training system between China, Japan and South Korea / 中华医学教育探索杂志

Through the comparative study on the psychiatric specialist training system between China, Japan and Korea, we have found that the number of psychiatric specialist training base in Japan and Korea is more than that of our country. Japan has a higher requirement of the practice training experiences for trainees before training and emphasizes how well mastering general psychiatry and understanding of society as trainees. However, the training bases in South Korean have main hos-pitals and sub main hospitals as well and trainees are stipulated to participate in a certain number of academic conferences and publish academic papers as their characteristics, which can provide a refer-ence for our country's adding more additional psychiatric specialist training bases and reasonable arrangements for trainee rotation in the future.

Clinicopathological and prognostic significance of PRKACB expression in non-small cell lung carcinoma / 中国基层医药

Objective To detect expression of PRKACB protein in non-small cell lung cancer ,thus to study its clinical significance and to analyze the relationship between PRKACB expression and prognosis .Methods We detected the PRKACB protein using immunohistochemistry in 109 lung cancer tissues and corresponding adjacent 20 normal tissues of non-small cell lung cancer patients .Results Compared with normal tissues , the level of PRKACB significantly decreased in lung cancers (χ2 =25.217,P<0.05),and was associated with differentiation (χ2 =9.664,P<0.05),lymph node metastasis(χ2 =4.430,P<0.05),and TNM staging(χ2 =4.430,P<0.05). Furthermore,the low expression of PRKACB protein was correlated with poor prognosis ( overall survival and disease-free survival ) of the patients .Conclusion PRKACB was lowly expressed in non-small cell lung cancer ,and associat-ed with clinical features ,which indicated its important role in clinical diagnosis of non-small cell lung cancer .

Non-thoracoscopic Nuss procedure for correction of pectus excavatum / 中华胸心血管外科杂志

Objective To review our experience in correction of pectus excavatum.by Nuss procedure without thoracoscopic assistance.Methods 412 patients with pectus excavatum were surgically corrected using Nuss technique without thoracoscopic assistance.There were 329 boys and 83 girls with average age of 7 years and 8 months ( range from 2 years and 8 months to 28 yeats and 5 months).The bars were removed after surgery in 102 patients.Results The operation in all patients had been performed successfully without any severe complications The average time of the operation was 40 minutes.The average blood lose during operation was ( 10 ±2) ml.Conclusion Nuss procedure without thoracoscopic assistance is safety and effective.It could be minimize the trauma and shorter operating time.
