RESUMEN

PURPOSE: The prevention of recurrence for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma after curative resection is still a great challenge in clinical practice. There are numerous studies that trying to search for favorable strategies to decrease the recurrence and prolong life span for these patients, whereas no consensus is reached till now. Herein, we aim to compare the efficacy between different reported treatments by network meta-analysis(NMA). METHODS: We searched Pubmed, Web of Science and Cochrane Library for abstracts and full-text articles published from database inception through February 2023. All of the random controlled trials(RCTs) were evaluated and collected as eligible studies. The primary outcome was the prevention of recurrence between different procedures. The second outcomes were one-year survival, three-year survival and five-year survival. RESULTS: Thirty-two RCTs including 5783 patients were selected, and 12 treatments were classified. Most of the studies were high quality with low bias. Thirty-one studies including 5629 patients were recruited for recurrence analysis. The network meta-analysis showed benefits from transarterial chemoembolization(TACE) + portal vein chemotherapy(PVC)[OR, 2.84 (1.15,6.99)] and internal radiotherapy(IRT) [OR, 2.63 (1.41,4.91)] compared to non-adjuvant(NA) treatment when considering prevention of recurrence. Seventeen studies including 2047 patients were collected for one-year survival analysis. The network meta-analysis showed benefit from TACE[OR, 0.33 (0.14,0.75)] when considering one-year survival. Twenty-one studies including 2463 patients were collected for three-year survival analysis. The network meta-analysis showed TACE [OR, 0.51 (0.30,0.86)], IRT[OR, 0.41 (0.20,0.83)] and dendritic cell(DC) [OR, 0.09 (0.01,0.98)] were better than NA when considering three-year survival. Sixteen studies including 1915 patients were collected for five-year survival analysis. The network meta-analysis didn't show any benefit from different treatments when considering five-year survival. Other strategies including external radiotherapy(ERT), branched-chain amino acids(BCAA), hepatic artery infusion chemotherapy(HAIC), cytokine-induced killer(CIK), adoptive immunotherapy(AIT), Huaier, interferon(IFN), oral chemotherapy(OCT) and sorafenib(SOR) didn't show significant benefit regardless of prevention of recurrence or short-, long- time survival. CONCLUSION: This NMA found that TACE + PVC and IRT were considered as the procedures to decrease HCC recurrence rate. TACE, IRT and DC were preferred when considering the extending of life span for post-operative patients with HCC. Large scale of RCTs are needed to verify it.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: Exosomes secreted by stem cells are recognized as a critical component in tissue regeneration during stem cell-based therapy. Considering the limited sources and bone regeneration efficiency of human periodontal ligament cells (hPDLCs), we explored whether exosomes secreted by stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED-exo) could improve the pluripotency and regenerative potential of hPDLCs. METHODS AND MATERIALS: In hPDLCs, cell proliferation, migration, cell cycle, apoptosis, and osteogenic differentiation were detected after cells were exposed to SHED-exo (SHED-exo group), blank (control group), or control supernatant without exo (Csup group), via CCK-8, scratch analysis, flow cytometric, real-time PCR, and so on. Exosomes sequencing was performed to compare and analyze miRNAs contented in SHED-exo and hPDLC-exo. RESULTS: As compared to control or Csup, SHED-exo significantly increased migration, apoptosis, and proliferation, promoted cell cycle transition from G1 to S phase in hPDLCs, and enhanced Runx2 expression and mineralization. In addition, it may be explained by the significant differences in miRNA contented in SHED-exo and hPDLC-exo. CONCLUSION: Exosomes from SHED can improve cell proliferation, migration, cell cycle, apoptosis, and osteogenic differentiation of hPDLCs, which highlights the therapeutic value of this bioactive component in the regeneration of periodontal tissues using hPDLCs in clinical practice.

RESUMEN

Stroke order knowledge is critical for Chinese reading and spelling acquisition. Previous studies have demonstrated enhancements of the N2 and P3 event-related potential (ERP) components at the Pz electrode to stroke order violations of Chinese characters in younger adults. However, it remained unclear whether similar ERP responses could be found in children. The current study investigated the ERP responses to stroke order violations of Chinese characters in children and examined the associations of the ERP responses with children's Chinese reading and spelling performance. A total of 26 Grade 2 Hong Kong Chinese children observed stroke-by-stroke displays of Chinese characters and judged whether the Chinese characters were written in the correct order. The ERP results showed larger anterior N2 and posterior P3 at the midline electrodes to the incorrect strokes than to the correct strokes. In addition, a smaller right lateralized temporal N2 response to the incorrect strokes was found in poor spellers as compared with good spellers of Chinese. The effect of the right lateralized temporal N2 response on reading performance was fully mediated through spelling ability. These results demonstrated increases in the anterior N2 and posterior P3 responses to stroke order violation of Chinese characters in second graders and suggest the right lateralized N2 response as a potential neural marker of Chinese literacy development in children.

RESUMEN

The exosomes from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED-Exos) have exhibited potential therapeutic role in dental and oral disorders. The biological effects of exosomes largely depend on cellular origin and physiological status of donor cell. In the present study, we explored the influence of conditioned exosomes from SHED with osteogenic induction on periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) in vitro. Conditioned SHED-Exos from a 3-day osteogenic supernatant were applied during PDLSCs osteogenic differentiation. We found that conditioned SHED-Exos had no cytotoxicity on PDLSCs viability assessed by CCK-8 assay. These SHED-Exos promoted PDLSCs osteogenic differentiation with deep Alizarin red staining, high alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and upregulated osteogenic gene expression (RUNX2, OPN and OCN). We further found BMP/Smad signaling and Wnt/ß-catenin were activated by enhanced Smad1/5/8 phosphorylation and increased nuclear ß-catenin protein expression. Inhibiting these two signaling pathways with specific inhibitors (cardamonin and LDN193189) remarkably weakened the enhanced osteogenic differentiation. Furthermore, Wnt3a and BMP2 were upregulated in SHED and SHED-Exos. Silencing Wnt3a and BMP2 in SHED-Exos partially counteracts the enhanced osteogenic differentiation. Our findings indicate that conditioned SHED-Exos-enhanced PDLSCs osteogenic differentiation was partly due to its carrying Wnt3a and BMP2. These data provide new insights into the use of SHED-Exos in periodontitis-induced bone defects therapy.

RESUMEN

An effective substrate for surface-enhanced fluorescence, which consists of cluster Ag/Au bimetallic nanostructures on a copper surface, was synthesized via a multi-stage galvanic replacement reaction of a Ag cluster in a chlorauric acid (HAuCl4) solution at room temperature. The fabricated silver/gold bimetallic cluster were found to yield large surface-enhanced fluorescence (SEF) enhancement factors for rhodamine 6G probe molecules deposited on the substrate, and also the fluorescence efficiency is critically dependent on the period of nanostructure growth. With the help of proper control reaction conditions, such as the reaction time, and concentration of reaction solutions, the maximum fluorescence enhanced effect was obtained. Therefore, the bimetallic nanostructure substrate also can be adapted to studies in SEF, which will expand the application of SEF.

RESUMEN

This paper investigates containment control for fractional-order networked systems. Two novel intermittent sampled position communication protocols, where controllers only need to keep working during communication width of every sampling period under the past sampled position communication of neighbors' agents. Then, some necessary and sufficient conditions are derived to guarantee containment about the differential order, sampling period, communication width, coupling strengths, and networked structure. Taking into account of the delay, a detailed discussion to guarantee containment is given with respect to the delay, sampling period, and communication width. Interestingly, it is discovered that containment control cannot be guaranteed without delay or past sampled position communication under the proposed protocols. Finally, the effectiveness of theoretical results is demonstrated by some numerical simulations.

RESUMEN

Literacy skills are important for children's development. The present study explored the effectiveness of a parent coaching approach on the reading and spelling skills and compared cognitive-linguistic skills performances between Chinese children with and without dyslexia. Participants were 33 children with dyslexia and 77 children without dyslexia, as well as their parent, in Hong Kong. Children were divided into three groups: dyslexia with training, non-dyslexia with training, and non-dyslexia without training. Parents in both training groups were instructed to facilitate children's literacy skills. A series of cognitive-linguistic skills were tested on children at pretest. Children received measures of character reading, word reading, and word spelling before and after the parent coaching. Results showed that, compared to children without dyslexia, children with dyslexia performed significantly more poorly on all cognitive-linguistic skills. Analyses of the training effect demonstrated that the dyslexia with training group significantly improved their performances on word reading and word spelling following the intervention. In addition, those without dyslexia who experienced training performed significantly better on character reading and word spelling at posttest than pretest. These results suggest that parent coaching can be one potentially effective method of promoting literacy skills among children both with and without dyslexia.

RESUMEN

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a lethal disease with limited management strategies and poor prognosis. Metabolism alternations have been frequently unveiled in HCC, including glutamine metabolic reprogramming. The components of glutamine metabolism, such as glutamine synthetase, glutamate dehydrogenase, glutaminase, metabolites, and metabolite transporters, are validated to be potential biomarkers of HCC. Increased glutamine consumption is confirmed in HCC, which fuels proliferation by elevated glutamate dehydrogenase or upstream signals. Glutamine metabolism also serves as a nitrogen source for amino acid or nucleotide anabolism. In addition, more glutamine converts to glutathione as an antioxidant in HCC to protect HCC cells from oxidative stress. Moreover, glutamine metabolic reprogramming activates the mTORC signaling pathway to support tumor cell proliferation. Glutamine metabolism targeting therapy includes glutamine deprivation, related enzyme inhibitors, and transporters inhibitors. Together, glutamine metabolic reprogramming plays a pivotal role in HCC identification, proliferation, and progression.

RESUMEN

A class of fractional-order memristive neural networks (FMNNs) with time delays is studied. At first, the original network system is converted to fractional-order uncertain one to simplify the analysis by a variable transformation. Successively, some new LMIs-based passivity criteria are derived by differential inclusions, set-valued maps, inequality techniques and linear matrix inequality approach. Furthermore, a feedback control protocol is designed to solve the passification problem for the considered system, whose feedback control effect on different neurons can be changed artificially, which can be better applied to neural networks. The obtained results include some existing ones as special cases. A numerical example is proposed to illustrate the theoretical results.

RESUMEN

Previous work has predominantly focused on word reading in studying literacy difficulties; very little work has focused on spelling difficulty instead. The present study adopted spelling (dictation) as the criterion to classify poor literacy skills in Hong Kong Chinese-English bilingual children. We examined the cognitive-linguistic skills profiles across four groups of children with different spelling abilities. Based on performances on Chinese and English dictation (criterion = below 25% in a larger sample), four groups were identified, 21 poor spellers of Chinese (PC), 18 poor spellers of English (PE), 27 poor spellers of both languages (PB), and 30 good spellers of both scripts (GB). Measures on language-specific tests of cognitive-linguistic skills (phonological awareness, lexical decision, morphological awareness, rapid naming, and delayed copying) were included to compare the degree of deficit exhibited by each group. With age, grade, and non-verbal intelligence controlled, one-way ANCOVA results revealed that, compared to GB, PC manifested significant deficits in Chinese-delayed copying but scored similarly on all English cognitive-linguistic skills. PE and PB showed significant deficits in Chinese and English phonological awareness compared to PC; they were significantly weaker in English-delayed copying, morphological awareness, and rapid naming (RAN). The PB group was significantly slower in both Chinese and English RAN compared to GB. Findings highlight the critical role of delayed copying in distinguishing poor spellers in both Chinese and English, the importance of phonological awareness for spelling in English but not in Chinese, and the role of automaticity in bilingual spelling difficulties.

RESUMEN

Laryngeal cancer accounts for 25%-30% of tumors in the head and neck. Cystatin SN (CST1) was revealed to show upregulated expression in this cancer, while its functions and upstream pathway remain unknown and need investigation. The current study was designed to solve this problem. We designed short hairpin RNAs targeting CST1 for the loss-of-function assays to probe the influences of CST1 in laryngeal cancer cell proliferation and motility. The upstream competitive endogenous RNA pattern of CST1 was searched using bioinformatics analysis and confirmed by luciferase reporter assays. The experimental results demonstrated that CST1 is a tumor facilitator in laryngeal cancer by stimulating cellular proliferative, migrative, and invasive abilities. CST1 is regulated by the long intergenic non-protein-coding RNA 1278 (LINC01278)/miR-185-5p axis. LINC01278 knockdown and miR-185-5p overexpression exert the same functions as CST1 knockdown to repress cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. In conclusion, LINC01278 plays an oncogenic role in laryngeal cancer by suppressing miR-185-5p to enhance CST1 expression, which enriches the molecular mechanism for the carcinogenesis of laryngeal cancer.

RESUMEN

Copying characters presented previously (delayed copying) is an important skill in Chinese literacy acquisition. The relations of delayed copying and a set of literacy-related skills (including vocabulary knowledge, rapid automatized naming, phonological awareness, morphological awareness, and orthographic awareness), visual-orthographic judgment, motor coordination, pure copying of foreign scripts, and delayed copying to Chinese spelling were examined among 294 typically developing Hong Kong kindergarteners. With all other variables statistically controlled, rapid automatized naming, phonological awareness, morphological awareness, orthographic awareness, motor coordination, and delayed copying all uniquely explained Chinese spelling. To further investigate how delayed copying interacts with other skills, path analyses were conducted. The final model showed that vocabulary knowledge, visual-orthographic judgment, and pure copying had indirect effects on spelling through delayed copying. These findings partly support spelling models developed in alphabetic writing systems, but also reflect the uniqueness of Chinese. In addition, results suggest that delayed copying is a unique window into how children learn to write words in Chinese. The potentially critical role of delayed copying in Chinese spelling makes it a potentially good clinical indicator of early spelling proficiency and spelling difficulties.

RESUMEN

Oil leakage is a global environmental issue and happens frequently, resulting in a waste of oil resources and even threatening the safety of marine creatures and humans. Because of unidirectional oil transportation performance, "oil-diode" Janus membranes have attracted lots of attention for oil/water separation. However, the hydrophobic side of traditional "oil-diode" Janus membrane is completely hydrophobic, resulting in an easy permeation of oil, which hampers light oil recycling. Herein, we provide a facile approach to develop "oil-diode" Janus membranes with the special wettable structure for fast oil refining. The material characteristics and surface wettability of the membranes that generate superimposed efforts are vital to fabricate "oil-diode" Janus membranes. Interestingly, the manufactured membranes exhibit extra-high oil intrusion pressure up to 12 kPa and present high permeance of about 2993 L m-2 h-1 bar-1 in separating stable water-in-oil emulsion containing surfactant and separation efficiency up to 99.6%, thereby showing promising potential in oil recovery and refining.

RESUMEN

Myocardial infarction (MI) is identified as the myocardial necrosis due to myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury and remains a leading cause of mortality. C1q/TNF-related protein 13 (CTRP13) is a member of CTRP family that has been found to be involved in coronary artery disease (CAD). However, the role of CTRP13 in MI remains unclear. We aimed to explore the functional role of CTRP13 in H9c2 cells exposed to hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R). Our results demonstrated that H/R stimulation significantly decreased the expression of CTRP13 in H9c2 cells. H/R-induced an increase in ROS production and reductions in activities of SOD and CAT were prevented by CTRP13 overexpression but were aggravated by CTRP13 silencing. Moreover, CTRP13 overexpression could reverse the inductive effect of H/R on caspase-3 activity and bax expression, as well as the inhibitory effect of H/R on bcl-2 expression in H9c2 cells. However, CTRP13 silencing presented opposite effects with CTRP13 overexpression. Furthermore, CTRP13 overexpression enhanced the H/R-stimulated the expression levels of p-AMPK and nuclear Nrf2, and Nrf2 transcriptional activity. However, inhibition of AMPK reversed the CTRP13-mediated activation of Nrf2/ARE signaling and the cardiac-protective effect in H/R-exposed H9c2 cells. Additionally, silencing of Nrf2 reversed the protective effects of CTRP13 against H/R-stimulated oxidative stress and apoptosis in H9c2 cells. Finally, recombinant CTRP13 protein attenuated myocardial I/R-induced injury in rats. Taken together, these findings indicated that CTRP13 protected H9c2 cells from H/R-stimulated oxidative stress and apoptosis via regulating the AMPK/Nrf2/ARE signaling pathway. Our results provided evidence for the therapeutic potential of CTRP13 in myocardial I/R injury.

RESUMEN

The semi-global output consensus problem for multiagent systems depicted by discrete-time dynamics subject to external disturbances and input saturation over switching networks is investigated in this paper. Assume that only a small part of subsystems have directly received the output of the exosystem. The distributed consensus algorithms are proposed by adopting the low-gain state feedback and the modified algebraic Riccati equation. Then, the outputs of all subsystems can reach synchronization asymptotically with those of the exosystem by using the proposed consensus protocols on some preconditions. Both the connected switching networks and the jointly connected switching networks are considered for the semi-global output consensus problem, respectively. Some numerical simulation results are shown to validate the theoretical analysis.

RESUMEN

In the title compound, [Cu(C(4)H(4)O(4))(NH(3))(2)](n), the Cu atom is coordinated by the N atoms of two ammonia mol-ecules and four O atoms from three different succinate ligands in a highly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Cu atom and the C and O atoms of the succinate ligands lie on a mirror plane. Two adjacent CuO(4)N(2) octa-hedra share one common O-O edge, forming a Cu(2)O(6)N(4) biocta-hedron with a Cu⋯Cu separation of 3.524 (2) Å. Neighboring biocta-hedra are connected by bis-unidentate succinate anions in the a-axis direction, while in the c-axis direction biocta-hedra are connected by bis-bidentate succinate anions, leading to an infinite two-dimensional network structure. These networks are further connected along the a-axis direction by hydrogen bonds between ammonia ligands and carboxyl-ate O atoms of neighboring network layers, forming a three-dimensional lamellar structure.

RESUMEN

Gratitude has been investigated in various areas in psychology. The present research showed that gratitude had some positive effects on some aspects of our life, such as subjective well-being, life satisfaction, and social relationships. It can also help us relieve negative emotions. However, the existing literature has not studied the influence of gratitude on envy. The present study used structural equation modeling to test the mediating role of social support between gratitude and two types of envy (malicious and benign). We recruited 426 Chinese undergraduates to complete the Gratitude Questionnaire, Malicious and Benign Envy Scales, and the Multi-Dimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support. Results showed that gratitude positively predicted benign envy and negatively predicted malicious envy. In addition, the indirect effect of gratitude on two types of envy via social support was significant. These results revealed the direct relationship between gratitude and malicious/benign envy, and the mediating effect of social support, which will contribute to find effective measures to inhibit malicious envy and promote benign envy from the perspective of cultivating gratitude and increasing individuals' social support.

RESUMEN

This paper investigates second-order consensus of networked systems with heterogeneous intrinsic nonlinear dynamics via a geometrical method, in which the nonlinear dynamics are governed by both velocity and position. First, two necessary conditions are deduced for the existence of consensus solutions by analyzing the inherent nonlinear dynamics of isolated nodes. Then a closed invariant set is constructed via geometrical methods. The nonempty of the set implies the existence of consensus solution. Assuming that the primary and the second dimension about the above invariant set are the same linear subspace, the system can be divided into two simple subsystems through a linear transformation. In addition, some sufficient conditions are proposed for reaching the global consensus based on matrix theory and Lyapunov method. Finally, numerical simulation results are provided to illustrate the validity of theoretical analysis.

RESUMEN

This paper is concerned with the problem of event-triggered Kalman-consensus filter for two-target tracking sensor networks. According to the event-triggered protocol and the mean-square analysis, a suboptimal Kalman gain matrix is derived and a suboptimal event-triggered distributed filter is obtained. Based on the Kalman-consensus filter protocol, all sensors which only depend on its neighbors' information can track their corresponding targets. Furthermore, utilizing Lyapunov method and matrix theory, some sufficient conditions are presented for ensuring the stability of the system. Finally, a simulation example is presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed event-triggered protocol.
