Replacing fossil resource with biomass is one of the promising approaches to reduce our carbon footprint. Lignin is one of the three major components of lignocellulosic biomass, accounting for 10-35 wt% of dried weight of the biomass. Hydrogenolytic depolymerization of lignin is attracting increasing attention because of its capacity of utilizing lignin in its uncondensed form and compatibility with the biomass fractionation processes. Lignin is a natural aromatic polymer composed of a variety of monolignols associated with a series of lignin linkage motifs. Hydrogenolysis cleaves various ether bonds in lignin and releases phenolic monomers which can be further upgraded into valuable products, i.e., drugs, terephthalic acid, phenol. This review provides an overview of the state-of-the-art advances of the reagent (lignin), products (hydrol lignin), mass balance, and mechanism of the lignin hydrogenolysis reaction. The chemical structure of lignin is reviewed associated with the free radical coupling of monolignols and the chemical reactions of lignin upon isolation processes. The reactions of lignin linkages upon hydrogenolysis are discussed. The components of hydrol lignin and the selectivity production of phenolic monomers are reviewed. Future challenges on hydrogenolysis of lignin are proposed. This article provides an overview of lignin hydrogenolysis reaction which shows light on the generation of optimized lignin ready for hydrogenolytic depolymerization.

Dietary fiber (DF) is an important active polysaccharide in Hericium erinaceus. Obesity can lead to a wide range of diseases. In this work, we investigated the in vitro lipid-lowering effect of soluble dietary fiber (SDF) from H. erinaceus, aiming to provide a basis for the subsequent development of lipid-lowering products. Ultrasound-assisted enzymatic extraction (UAEE) of SDF from H. erinaceus was performed. The optimal extraction parameters determined via single-factor experiments and response surface methodology (RSM) were as follows: Lywallzyme concentration, 1.0%; complex protease concentration, 1.2%; ultrasonication time, 35 min; and ultrasonication power, 150 W. In vitro lipid-lowering experiments revealed that the adsorption amount of cholesterol micelles by H. erinaceus SDF was 11.91 mg/g. The binding amount and binding rate of sodium taurocholate were 3.73 mg/g and 42.47%, respectively, and those of sodium glycocholate were 3.43 mg/g and 39.12%, respectively. The pancreatic lipase inhibition rate reached 52.11%, and the type of inhibition was competitive. Therefore, H. erinaceus SDF has good in vitro lipid-lowering ability.

Auxin Response Factors (ARFs) make up a plant-specific transcription factor family that mainly couples perception of the phytohormone, auxin, and gene expression programs and plays an important and multi-faceted role during plant growth and development. Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus) is a representative Cymbopogon species widely used in gardening, beverages, fragrances, traditional medicine, and heavy metal phytoremediation. Biomass yield is an important trait for several agro-economic purposes of lemongrass, such as landscaping, essential oil production, and phytoremediation. Therefore, we performed gene mining of CfARFs and identified 26 and 27 CfARF-encoding genes in each of the haplotype genomes of lemongrass, respectively. Phylogenetic and domain architecture analyses showed that CfARFs can be divided into four groups, among which groups 1, 2, and 3 correspond to activator, repressor, and ETTN-like ARFs, respectively. To identify the CfARFs that may play major roles during the growth of lemongrass plants, RNA-seq was performed on three tissues (leaf, stem, and root) and four developmental stages (3-leaf, 4-leaf, 5-leaf. and mature stages). The expression profiling of CfARFs identified several highly expressed activator and repressor CfARFs and three CfARFs (CfARF3, 18, and 35) with gradually increased levels during leaf growth. Haplotype-resolved transcriptome analysis revealed that biallelic expression dominance is frequent among CfARFs and contributes to their gene expression patterns. In addition, co-expression network analysis identified the modules enriched with CfARFs. By establishing orthologous relationships among CfARFs, sorghum ARFs, and maize ARFs, we showed that CfARFs were mainly expanded by whole-genome duplications, and that the duplicated CfARFs might have been divergent due to differential expression and variations in domains and motifs. Our work provides a detailed catalog of CfARFs in lemongrass, representing a first step toward characterizing CfARF functions, and may be useful in molecular breeding to enhance lemongrass plant growth.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Women are more prone to iron deficiency (ID) anemia when pregnant. The diagnostic use of mean reticulocyte volume (MRV) in identifying ID anemia during pregnancy has not been thoroughly investigated. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of MRV in diagnosing ID in pregnant women. METHODS AND STUDY DESIGN: Firstly, MRV of 20 healthy female volunteers (healthy group) was measured on specific days for one month. Subsequently, clinical data from 724 pregnant women were thoroughly examined. These women were divided into two groups: 282 with ID (research group) and 442 without ID (control group). Parameters such as MRV, reticulocyte hemoglobin equivalent (RHE), red blood cell volume distribution width-standard deviation (RDW-SD), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), hematocrit (HCT), reticulocyte count (RET), MRV/MCV ratio, and serum ferritin (SF) were analyzed and compared. RESULTS: MRV remained consistent over a period of one month for 20 healthy individuals. In addition, there were significant differences in MRV, RHE, RDW-SD, MCV, MCH, MCHC, HCT, RET, and MRV/MCV between the research group and control group. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis showed that the areas under the curve (AUCs) for these measures were as follow: 0.840, 0.837, 0.676, 0.654, 0.639, 0.602, 0.571, 0.550, and 0.816, respectively. Ultimately, there was a substantial disparity in MRV prior to and following therapy with oral iron treatments. CONCLUSIONS: In healthy women, MRV remains stable and is a reliable ID marker, which can be used to assess oral iron treatment effectiveness during pregnancy.

Ectomycorrhizal fungi employ different strategies for mycelial growth and host colonization under varying nutrient conditions. However, key genes associated with mycorrhizal interaction should be influenced solely by the inoculation treatment and not by nutrient variations. To utilize subtle nutrient differences and rapidly screen for key genes related to the interaction between Suillus luteus and Pinus massoniana, we performed an inoculation experiment using culture bottles containing high- and low-nutrient media. Interestingly, S. luteus LS88 promoted the growth of P. massoniana seedlings without mature ectomycorrhiza, and the impact of LS88 inoculation on P. massoniana roots was greater than that of nutrient changes. In this study, the resequenced genome of the LS88 strain was utilized for transcriptome analysis of the strain. The analysis indicated that a unique gene encoding glutathione S-transferase (GST) in LS88 is likely involved in colonizing P. massoniana roots. In this study, the GST gene expression was independent of nutrient levels. It was probably induced by P. massoniana and could be used as a marker for S. luteus colonization degree.

BACKGROUND: The image quality of computed tomography angiography (CTA) images following endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) is not satisfactory, since artifacts resulting from metallic implants obstruct the clear depiction of stent and isolation lumens, and also adjacent soft tissues. However, current techniques to reduce these artifacts still need further advancements due to higher radiation doses, longer processing times and so on. Thus, the aim of this study is to assess the impact of utilizing Single-Energy Metal Artifact Reduction (SEMAR) alongside a novel deep learning image reconstruction technique, known as the Advanced Intelligent Clear-IQ Engine (AiCE), on image quality of CTA follow-ups conducted after EVAR. MATERIALS: This retrospective study included 47 patients (mean age ± standard deviation: 68.6 ± 7.8 years; 37 males) who underwent CTA examinations following EVAR. Images were reconstructed using four different methods: hybrid iterative reconstruction (HIR), AiCE, the combination of HIR and SEMAR (HIR + SEMAR), and the combination of AiCE and SEMAR (AiCE + SEMAR). Two radiologists, blinded to the reconstruction techniques, independently evaluated the images. Quantitative assessments included measurements of image noise, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), the longest length of artifacts (AL), and artifact index (AI). These parameters were subsequently compared across different reconstruction methods. RESULTS: The subjective results indicated that AiCE + SEMAR performed the best in terms of image quality. The mean image noise intensity was significantly lower in the AiCE + SEMAR group (25.35 ± 6.51 HU) than in the HIR (47.77 ± 8.76 HU), AiCE (42.93 ± 10.61 HU), and HIR + SEMAR (30.34 ± 4.87 HU) groups (p < 0.001). Additionally, AiCE + SEMAR exhibited the highest SNRs and CNRs, as well as the lowest AIs and ALs. Importantly, endoleaks and thrombi were most clearly visualized using AiCE + SEMAR. CONCLUSIONS: In comparison to other reconstruction methods, the combination of AiCE + SEMAR demonstrates superior image quality, thereby enhancing the detection capabilities and diagnostic confidence of potential complications such as early minor endleaks and thrombi following EVAR. This improvement in image quality could lead to more accurate diagnoses and better patient outcomes.

Delta-12 fatty acid desaturases (FAD2s) actively regulate stress responses and cell differentiation in living organisms. In this study, six homologous FAD2 genes were identified based on the genome sequence of Lentinula edodes. Then, the six FAD2 protein sequences were analyzed using bioinformatics tools, including ExPASy ProtParam, SignalP, TMHMM, and TargetP. These analyses were performed to predict the physical and chemical properties, signal peptides, and transmembrane and conserved domains of these proteins. The polypeptide sequences were aligned, and a maximum likelihood phylogenetic tree was constructed using MEGA 7.0 software to elucidate the phylogenetic relationships between homologous FAD2 sequences. The results demonstrated that the FAD2 proteins contained three conserved histidine-rich regions (HXXXH, HXXHH, and HXXHH), which included eight histidine residues. The linoleic acid content and FAD2 enzyme activity were further analyzed, and the levels in the mutagenic heat-tolerant strain 18N44 were lower than those in the wild-type strain 18. Interestingly, the expression levels of the FAD2-2 and FAD2-3 genes under heat stress in strain 18N44 were lower than those in strain 18. These findings indicated that FAD2-2 and FAD2-3 may play major roles in the synthesis of linoleic acid during heat stress.

Overactivation of cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) is implicated in the occurrence of many inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, and inhibition of cGAS with a specific inhibitor has been proposed as a potential therapeutic strategy. However, only a few low-potency cGAS inhibitors have been reported, and few are suitable for clinical investigation. As a continuation of our structural optimization on the reported cGAS inhibitor 6 (G140), we developed a series of spiro[carbazole-3,3'-pyrrolidine] derivatives bearing a unique 2-azaspiro[4.5]decane structural motif, among which compound 30d-S was identified with high cellular effects against cGAS. This compound showed improved plasma exposure, lower clearance, and an oral bioavailability of 35% in rats. Moreover, in the LPS-induced acute lung injury (ALI) mice model, oral administration of compound 30d-S at 30 mg/kg markedly reduced lung inflammation and alleviated histopathological changes. These results confirm that 30d-S is a new efficacious cGAS inhibitor and is worthy of further investigation.

Antioxidant peptides are a class of biologically active peptides with low molecular weights and stable antioxidant properties that are isolated from proteins. In this review, the progress in research on the activity evaluation, action mechanism, and structure-activity relationships of natural antioxidant peptides are summarized. The methods used to evaluate antioxidant activity are mainly classified into three categories: in vitro chemical, in vitro cellular, and in vivo animal methods. Also, the biological effects produced by these three methods are listed: the scavenging of free radicals, chelation of metal ions, inhibition of lipid peroxidation, inhibition of oxidative enzyme activities, and activation of antioxidant enzymes and non-enzymatic systems. The antioxidant effects of natural peptides primarily consist of the regulation of redox signaling pathways, which includes activation of the Nrf2 pathway and the inhibition of the NF-κB pathway. The structure-activity relationships of the antioxidant peptides are investigated, including the effects of peptide molecular weight, amino acid composition and sequence, and secondary structure on antioxidant activity. In addition, four computer-assisted methods (molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulation, quantum chemical calculations, and the determination of quantitative structure-activity relationships) for analyzing the structure-activity effects of natural peptides are summarized. Thus, this review lays a theoretical foundation for the development of new antioxidants, nutraceuticals, and cosmetics.

BACKGROUND: Occult peritoneal metastases (OPM) in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) are frequently overlooked during imaging. The authors aimed to develop and validate a computed tomography (CT)-based deep learning-based radiomics (DLR) model to identify OPM in PDAC before treatment. METHODS: This retrospective, bicentric study included 302 patients with PDAC (training: n =167, OPM-positive, n =22; internal test: n =72, OPM-positive, n =9: external test, n =63, OPM-positive, n =9) who had undergone baseline CT examinations between January 2012 and October 2022. Handcrafted radiomics (HCR) and DLR features of the tumor and HCR features of peritoneum were extracted from CT images. Mutual information and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator algorithms were used for feature selection. A combined model, which incorporated the selected clinical-radiological, HCR, and DLR features, was developed using a logistic regression classifier using data from the training cohort and validated in the test cohorts. RESULTS: Three clinical-radiological characteristics (carcinoembryonic antigen 19-9 and CT-based T and N stages), nine HCR features of the tumor, 14 DLR features of the tumor, and three HCR features of the peritoneum were retained after feature selection. The combined model yielded satisfactory predictive performance, with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.853 (95% CI: 0.790-0.903), 0.845 (95% CI: 0.740-0.919), and 0.852 (95% CI: 0.740-0.929) in the training, internal test, and external test cohorts, respectively (all P <0.05). The combined model showed better discrimination than the clinical-radiological model in the training (AUC=0.853 vs. 0.612, P <0.001) and the total test (AUC=0.842 vs. 0.638, P <0.05) cohorts. The decision curves revealed that the combined model had greater clinical applicability than the clinical-radiological model. CONCLUSIONS: The model combining CT-based DLR and clinical-radiological features showed satisfactory performance for predicting OPM in patients with PDAC.

The potential of Stropharia rugosoannulata as a microbial remediation material for cadmium (Cd)-contaminated soil lies in its capacity to absorb and accumulate Cd in its mycelia. This study utilized the TMT and LC-MS techniques to conduct integrated proteomic and metabolomic analyses with the aim of investigating the mycelial response mechanisms of S. rugosoannulata under low- and high-Cd stresses. The results revealed that mycelia employed a proactive defense mechanism to maintain their physiological functions, leading to reduced sensitivity to low-Cd stress. The ability of mycelia to withstand high levels of Cd stress was influenced primarily by the comprehensive regulation of six metabolic pathways, which led to a harmonious balance between nitrogen and carbohydrate metabolism and to reductions in oxidative stress and growth inhibition caused by Cd. The results provide valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms involved in the response of S. rugosoannulata mycelia to Cd stress.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the utility of dual-energy CT (DECT) in differentiating non-hypervascular pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (PNENs) from pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDACs) with negative carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9). METHODS: This retrospective study included 26 and 39 patients with pathologically confirmed non-hypervascular PNENs and CA 19-9-negative PDACs, respectively, who underwent contrast-enhanced DECT before treatment between June 2019 and December 2021. The clinical, conventional CT qualitative, conventional CT quantitative, and DECT quantitative parameters of the two groups were compared using univariate analysis and selected by least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression (LASSO) analysis. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to build qualitative, conventional CT quantitative, DECT quantitative, and comprehensive models. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUCs) of the models were compared using DeLong's test. RESULTS: The AUCs of the DECT quantitative (based on normalized iodine concentrations [nICs] in the arterial and portal venous phases: 0.918; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.852-0.985) and comprehensive (based on tumour location and nICs in the arterial and portal venous phases: 0.966; 95% CI 0.889-0.995) models were higher than those of the qualitative (based on tumour location: 0.782; 95% CI 0.665-0.899) and conventional CT quantitative (based on normalized conventional CT attenuation in the arterial phase: 0.665; 95% CI 0.533-0.797; all P < 0.05) models. The DECT quantitative and comprehensive models had comparable performances (P = 0.076). CONCLUSIONS: Higher nICs in the arterial and portal venous phases were associated with higher blood supply improving the identification of non-hypervascular PNENs.

There are several methods to isolate near-native lignins, including milled-wood lignin, enzymatic lignin, cellulolytic enzyme lignin, and enzymatic mild-acidolysis lignin. Which one is the most representative of the native lignin? Herein, near-native lignins were isolated from different plant groups and structurally analyzed to determine how well these lignins represented their native lignin counterparts. Analytical methods were applied to understand the molecular weight, monomer composition, and distribution of interunit linkages in the structure of the lignins. The results indicated that either enzymatic lignin or cellulolytic enzyme lignin may be used to represent native lignin in softwoods and hardwoods. None of the lignins, however, appeared to represent native lignins in grasses (monocot plants) because of substantial syringyl/guaiacyl differences. Complicating the understanding of grass lignin structure, large amounts of hydroxycinnamates acylate their polysaccharides and, when released, are often conflated with actual lignin monomers.

Graphics are widely used to provide summarization of complex data in scientific publications. Although there are many tools available for drawing graphics, their use is limited by programming skills, costs, and platform specificities. Here, we presented a freely accessible easy-to-use web server named SRplot that integrated more than a hundred of commonly used data visualization and graphing functions together. It can be run easily using all Web browsers and there are no strong requirements on the computing power of users' machines. With a user-friendly graphical interface, users can simply paste the contents of the input file into the text box according to the defined file format. Modification operations can be easily performed, and graphs can be generated in real-time. The resulting graphs can be easily downloaded in bitmap (PNG or TIFF) or vector (PDF or SVG) format in publication quality. The website is updated promptly and continuously. Functions in SRplot have been improved, optimized and updated depend on feedback and suggestions from users. The graphs prepared with SRplot have been featured in more than five hundred peer-reviewed publications. The SRplot web server is now freely available at http://www.bioinformatics.com.cn/SRplot.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: Human Amniotic Mesenchymal Stem Cells (hAMSCs) have strong multidirectional differentiation ability. Studies have found that transfection of target genes into target cells by lentivirus can enhance the differentiation potential of the cells. Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme 2 (ACE2) was found to improve vascular remodeling. Research is lacking on ACE2-hAMSCs. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the ability to improve pulmonary arterial hypertension using ACE2-hAMSCs. METHODS: Lentiviruses overexpressing ACE2 were mixed with hAMSCs. Then, ACE2-hAMSCs and hAMSCs with good growth in logarithmic growth phase were collected. We detected their migration and angiogenesis. RT-qPCR technology was used to detect the expression levels of genes related to angiogenesis, and inflammation in the two cell lines, and western-blotting was used to detect the expression levels of ACE2. As an animal study, 21 rats were randomly divided into four different groups. Right heart hypertrophy, pulmonary angiogenesis, and serum inflammatory factors were measured before dissection. H&E staining was used to observe the inflammatory infiltration of lung tissues. RESULTS: The migration and angiogenesis of ACE2-hAMSCs were strongerthan that of hAMSCs alone. The expressions of genes in ACE2-hAMSCs were higher, and the expression of ACE2 protein in ACE2-hAMSCs was less. H&E staining showed that the inflammatory infilration of lung tissue in ACE2-hAMSCs groups was significantly improved. In addition, the ACE2-hAMSCs group had stronger pro-angiogenesis and anti-inflammatory effects. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that ACE2-hAMSCs can repair pulmonary vascular endothelial cell injury caused by pulmonary hypertension by promoting angiogenesis and anti-inflammatory ability. This shows that ACE2-hAMSCs have stronger ability to improve pulmonary vascular remodeling than hAMSCs alone.

A major challenge to make use of lignin as an antimicrobial material is the weak antimicrobial activity of industrial lignin. Inspired by the antimicrobial mechanism of actions of antimicrobial peptides, alkyldiamines were employed as lysine mimics for lignin modifications. Accordingly, aminoalkyl-modified lignins with different degrees of substitution of amino groups and different hydrophobicity were synthesized. The chemical structure, properties, and antimicrobial activities of the as-prepared aminoalkyl lignins were thoroughly characterized with state-of-the-art technologies. The results indicated that aminobutyl lignin showed enhanced antimicrobial activity against S. aureus and E. coli and performed even better than copper ions. The antimicrobial mechanism of action of the as-prepared aminobutyl lignin was similar to that of polylysine, which damaged the cell membrane, leading to the leakage of intracellular molecules and death of the cell. This study provides a feasible approach to afford modified lignin with enhanced antimicrobial performance, which would facilitate the high-value valorization of lignin as biological materials.

RESUMEN

This empirical research creates and assesses a community interaction open-source learning framework. The framework established an efficient open-source learning environment for engineering courses to develop undergraduates' sustainability competencies. The teaching practice of the framework was designed into three stages: course preparation, theory lecture, and project practice. In the teaching practice, community interaction elements were embedded, including community/student two-way selection, systemic teaching and difficulty discussion, expert/student negotiation on teaching forms, teacher/expert coordination on teaching contents, and expert/student two-way feedback on schedules. The interaction elements between students, teachers, and experts enhanced the effectiveness of open-source learning in engineering courses. The experimental results showed that the students exhibited a positive attitude and high participation in the learning procedure and reported a sense of achievement in the project practice. The open-source learning framework significantly improved systemic thinking, conceptual understanding, interdisciplinary collaboration and professional skills. It enhanced students' key sustainability competencies and laid the foundation for them to become expertise-based innovators and open-source community contributors.

Recently, the asymmetric bifunctionalization of alkenes has received much attention. However, the development of enantioselective alkoxyalkenylation has posed a considerable challenge and has lagged largely behind. Herein, we report a new palladium-catalyzed enantioselective alkoxyalkenylation reaction, using a range of primary, secondary, and tertiary γ-hydroxy-alkenes with alkenyl halides. By employing newly identified Xu-Phos (Xu8 and Xu9) with a suitable side-arm adjacent to the PCy2 motif, a series of allyl-substituted tetrahydrofurans were obtained in good yields with up to 95% ee. Besides (E)-alkenyl halides, (Z)-alkenyl halide was also examined and provided the corresponding (Z)-product as a single diastereomer, supporting a stereospecific oxidative addition and reductive elimination step. Moreover, deuterium labeling and VCD experiments were employed to determine a cis-oxypalladation mechanism. DFT calculations helped us gain deeper insight into the side-arm effect on the chiral ligand. Finally, the practicability of this method is further demonstrated through a gram-scale synthesis and versatile transformations of the products.

In supersingular isogeny-based cryptography, the path-finding problem reduces to the endomorphism ring problem. Can path-finding be reduced to knowing just one endomorphism? It is known that a small degree endomorphism enables polynomial-time path-finding and endomorphism ring computation (in: Love and Boneh, ANTS XIV-Proceedings of the Fourteenth Algorithmic Number Theory Symposium, volume 4 of Open Book Ser. Math. Sci. Publ., Berkeley, 2020). An endomorphism gives an explicit orientation of a supersingular elliptic curve. In this paper, we use the volcano structure of the oriented supersingular isogeny graph to take ascending/descending/horizontal steps on the graph and deduce path-finding algorithms to an initial curve. Each altitude of the volcano corresponds to a unique quadratic order, called the primitive order. We introduce a new hard problem of computing the primitive order given an arbitrary endomorphism on the curve, and we also provide a sub-exponential quantum algorithm for solving it. In concurrent work (in: Wesolowski, Advances in cryptology-EUROCRYPT 2022, volume 13277 of Lecture Notes in Computer Science. Springer, Cham, 2022), it was shown that the endomorphism ring problem in the presence of one endomorphism with known primitive order reduces to a vectorization problem, implying path-finding algorithms. Our path-finding algorithms are more general in the sense that we don't assume the knowledge of the primitive order associated with the endomorphism.

Background: The establishment of the anterior-posterior (A-P) axis is a crucial step during tissue repair and regeneration. Despite the association reported recently of N6-methyladenosine (m6A) with regeneration, the mechanism underlying the regulation of m6A in A-P axis specification during regeneration remains unknown. Herein, we deciphered the m6A landscape at a single-base resolution at multiple time points during A-P axis regeneration and constructed the de novo transcriptome assembly of the Dugesia japonica planarian. Results: Immunofluorescence staining and comparative analysis revealed that m6A is widespread across the planarian and dynamically regulated during regeneration along the A-P axis, exhibiting a strong spatiotemporal feature. The resulting datasets of m6A-modified genes identified 80 anterior-specific genes and 13 posterior-specific genes, respectively. In addition, we showed that YTHDC1 serves as the primary m6A reader to be involved in the m6A-mediated specification of A-P axis during regeneration in Dugesia japonica planarian. Conclusions: Our study provides an RNA epigenetic explanation for the specification of the A-P axis during tissue regeneration in planarian.
