RESUMEN

The article presents characteristics of the dynamic component of postural balance and its features in elderly women with postural deficit. The assessment of the dynamic component of postural balance was performed on a computer stabilometric complex «Balance Manager¼ in women aged 60-74 with and without a history of falls. The most significant changes are manifested by an increase in the time of implementation and a decrease in the effectiveness of performing complex motor acts. In the factor structure of indicators of the dynamic component of postural balance in postural deficit, the leading factor is the factor that characterizes speed and power indicators in the implementation of complex motor acts. The study of the dynamic component of postural balance is recommended to be included in the comprehensive diagnosis of walking disorders in the elderly and in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment and rehabilitation measures.

RESUMEN

The article presents the results of the study of the quality of life (QOL) characteristics in the urban women 55-64 years old using the SF-36v2 questionnaire, the estimation of the standardized quantities of QOL is given. A total of 509 women were examined and divided into two age groups: the 1st group is 55-59 years old (n=210), the 2nd group is 60-64 years old (n=299). It is established that the women older than 59 years have a decline in the indicators of the physical functioning (p<0,001), the role functioning conditioned by a physical state (p=0,001), as well as the intensity of pain (p=0,011), which will negatively affect their activity in everyday life, their productive activities, making it difficult to continue working on pension. The analysis of the physical component of the QOL also revealed its decrease in women older than 59 years (p<0,001). At the same time, statistically significant age differences in the psychological component of the QOL (p>0,1) were not established. The results of the research show that the determining factor that has a positive effect on the process of successful aging in women of the second age group is not the physical but the psychological component of the quality of life.

RESUMEN

DC-potential of the brain was performed in 97 women 55-74 years old living in the circumpolar region. Study and analysis of the distribution level DC-potential brain mapping was carried out by the measured values of monopolar constant potentials. The resulting distribution characteristics DC-potential compared with the average values for the corresponding normative age period. The features of the distribution of the level of DC-potential in women of circumpolar region at the age of 55-74 years, such as smoothing hemispheric asymmetry and increase total cerebral energy compared with reference values in most parts of the brain.

RESUMEN

The article presents the results of studies of the DC-potential of the brain level distribution in elderly women with postural instability. Analysis of the DC-potential of the brain level distribution was held by mapping obtained by measuring the monopolar values of the DC-potential of the brain and calculating deviations in each of the leads from the average records which were registered in all areas of the head. It is established that elderly women with postural instability DC-potential of the brain level distribution are characterized by increasing in background values and rigid structure of the interaction between brain regions. The disturbance of the principle of the dome-shaped DC-potential of the brain level distribution due to the alignment of values for brain regions was revealed. Factor model with postural instability reflects the control strengthening over the potential falls from the frontal areas of the brain.

RESUMEN

Using computer posturografic (stabilometric) complex a study of postural control peculiarities was carried out in 108 women aged 65-74 years who had experienced two or more falls during the year (fallers). These tests were: Sensory Organization Test, Motor Control Test, Rhythmic Weight Shift. It was found that elderly women with fallers had a decrease of sensory information (somatosensory - by 1,8 %, of the visual - by 6 %, and of the vestibular - by 10,1 %), the neurophysiological mechanisms of postural control (by 5,7 points), violation of adaptation possibilities of sensory and motor components of the legs to respond quickly to changes in the center of gravity within the support base of its footing (7,3 ms), as well as reducing balance control in the frontal (by 7,2 %) and sagittal (by 23,2 % ) planes compared with the women of the same age without fallers.

RESUMEN

The article presents the results of studies of the behavioral response in 63 elderly women. With the help of a computer complex for psychophysiological studies KPFK-99 "Binatest" we estimated figures of restructuring strategies of decision making in a stochastic environment. The leading psychophysiological mechanisms of behavioral response of older women in a stochastic environment are presented as a high-speed component of decision-making process, and search activity as a dynamic component of motivational orientation dominates over the informational component of the decision-making on the temporary costs. Approximately-research activity is random, that does not change the cognitive response strategy under uncertainty environment. Women aged 65-74 years are observed more time to make decisions and stereotyped of behavior compared to women aged 55-64 years.

RESUMEN

We report the inelastic neutron scattering study of spin dynamics in EuCu(2)(Si(x)Ge(1-x))(2) (x = 1, 0.9, 0.75, 0.6), performed in a wide temperature range. At x = 1 the magnetic excitation spectrum was found to be represented by the double-peak structure well below the energy range of the Eu(3+) spin-orbit (SO) excitation (7)F(0)→(7)F(1), so that at least the high-energy spectral component can be assigned to the renormalized SO transition. Change of the Eu valence towards 2 + with increased temperature and/or Ge concentration results in further renormalization (lowering the energy) and gradual suppression of both inelastic peaks in the spectrum, along with developing sizeable quasielastic signal. The origin of the spectral structure and its evolution is discussed in terms of excitonic model for the mixed valence state.

RESUMEN

We propose a new method for achieving simultaneous operation of laser mode locking and the Q-switch technique using only a single acousto-optic modulator (AOM) with a traveling wave; this AOM was placed inside the cavity of a green-emission Nd:YAG laser. The further shortening of the lasing pulse duration from 40 ps to less than 3.25 ps was obtained by the formation of a Kerr lens in a doubling-frequency crystal. At average output power of 1.5 W and pulse repetition rate of the Q-switch equal to 2 kHz, the peak power in a steady-operating laser exceeded 50 MW.

RESUMEN

The compounds Sm2TGe6 (T = Pd, Pt,) were synthesized and characterized by x-ray diffraction, magnetization, electrical resistivity, thermoelectric power, and specific heat measurements performed in the temperature range 2-300 K. Additional resistivity and thermoelectric power measurements performed down to 0.35 K have not indicated superconductivity. These compounds crystallize in the orthorhombic structure of Ce2NiGe6 type and order antiferromagnetically at 23(1) and 30(1) K, respectively, showing localized magnetism of a Sm(3+) ion with a crystal field doublet level being the ground state. Below T(N), the electrical resistivity, the thermoelectric power, and the specific heat are dominated by electron-magnon scattering with an antiferromagnetic spin-wave spectrum typical of anisotropic antiferromagnetic systems. The thermoelectric power, S, achieves medium positive values at high temperatures, indicating a hole domination in electrical transport in both samples. At low temperatures, S changes its sign and becomes negative. At about 10 K a small negative maximum in S(T) occurs for both studied compounds. All the measurements carried out point to well-localized 4f-electrons in these two compounds, being strongly influenced by the crystal-electric-field effect with a significant admixture of two J-multiplets (5/2 and 7/2), typical for Sm-containing compounds.

RESUMEN

The paper contains the results of a study of the equilibrium function examined in 120 schoolchildren (aged 7 to 8 and 9 to 10) residing in the city of Arkhangelsk by means of a computer-based "Stabilotest" set manufactured by "VNIIMP-VITA", Moscow. Quantitative parameters of the functions were obtained for healthy schoolchildren of the above age groups on the basis of a variety of tests, which exposed a number of specific features related with maintaining the vertical postures in different positions. The results can be used as a basis in evaluating the functional status of the equilibrium system during diagnostic and correction-and-rehabilitation procedures.

RESUMEN

Presented are the results of examination of the functional condition of the brain in 347 boys aged 5 to 16 residing permanently in the city of Arkhangelsk. High energy usage by the brain was registered in northerner children and teenagers versus their coevals residing in Russia's central regions. The principle of "cupola-shaping" in the distribution of the brain's permanent potential was found to be impaired. Besides, the cerebral hemisphere asymmetry was also affected in the northerners. The mentioned lesions denote the functional CNS tension in children and teenagers residing permanently in the European North. The method of registration of the level of the brain's constant potential enables an objective evaluation of the body's functional reserve.

RESUMEN

Described in the paper are the results of studying the functional balance system and the specificity of the psychological-and-physiological maintenance of the vertical posture in different positionings in 560 children, aged 7 to 10, with the syndrome of attention deficit and with hyperactivity (SADHA). The prevalence of SADHA was analyzed by questioning the parents and teachers and by psychophysiological testing. It was established that an impaired stability of the vertical posture and an impaired development of co-ordination abilities are typical of SADHA children; it is preconditioned by a changed regulatory influence of big cortex hemispheres on the subcortical structures, which is confirmed by a deranged energy status of the brain. Finally, a higher tonus is registered in both the sympathetic and parasympathetic sections of the vegetative nervous system.
