RESUMEN
As the initial stage of the sewage treatment system, the degradation of pollutants inevitably involves an entropy change process. Microorganisms play a vital role, where they interact with pollutants and constantly adjust own ecosystem. However, there is a lack of research on the entropy change and external dissipation processes within the sewer system. In this study, considering the characteristics of microbial population changes in the biofilm within the urban sewage pipe network, entropy theory is applied to characterize the attributes of different microorganisms. Through revealing the entropy change of the microbial population and chemical composition, a coupling relationship between the functional bacteria diversity, organic substances composition, and external dissipation in the pipeline network is proposed. The results show that the changes of nutrient availability, microbial community structure, and environmental conditions all affect the changes of information entropy in the sewer network. This study is critical for assessing the understanding of ecological dynamics and energy flows within these systems and can help researchers and operation managers develop strategies to optimize wastewater treatment processes, mitigate environmental impacts, and promote sustainable management practices.

The perspective camera model has difficulty handling refracted light in the underwater environment. To achieve accurate and convenient calibration in large underwater scenes, we propose a method based on the underwater refractive camera model in this paper. First, the initial values of the refraction parameters are solved using refraction coplanarity constraints. Then the initial values are optimized nonlinearly using co-point constraints, which simplifies the optimization process of existing methods. In the field of view of 200m m×200m m, the experiment results show that the reconstruction accuracy of the proposed method can reach below 0.02 mm, and it is equally effective in the case of sparse calibration.
RESUMEN
Traditional dental implant navigation systems (DINS) based on binocular stereo vision (BSV) have limitations, for example, weak anti-occlusion abilities, as well as problems with feature point mismatching. These shortcomings limit the operators' operation scope, and the instruments may even cause damage to the adjacent important blood vessels, nerves, and other anatomical structures. Trinocular stereo vision (TSV) is introduced to DINS to improve the accuracy and safety of dental implants in this study. High positioning accuracy is provided by adding cameras. When one of the cameras is blocked, spatial positioning can still be achieved, and doctors can adjust to system tips; thus, the continuity and safety of the surgery is significantly improved. Some key technologies of DINS have also been updated. A bipolar line constraint algorithm based on TSV is proposed to eliminate the feature point mismatching problem. A reference template with active optical markers attached to the jaw measures head movement. A T-type template with active optical markers is used to obtain the position and direction of surgery instruments. The calibration algorithms of endpoint, axis, and drill are proposed for 3D display of the surgical instrument in real time. With the preoperative path planning of implant navigation software, implant surgery can be carried out. Phantom experiments are carried out based on the system to assess the feasibility and accuracy. The results show that the mean entry deviation, exit deviation, and angle deviation are 0.55 mm, 0.88 mm, and 2.23 degrees, respectively.

Recent studies have identified a role for ALKBH7 in the occurrence and progression of cancer, and this protein is related to cellular immunity and immune cell infiltration. However, the prognostic and immunotherapeutic value of ALKBH7 in different cancers have not been explored. In this study, we observed high ALKBH7 expression in 17 cancers and low expression in 5 cancers compared to paired normal tissues. Although ALKBH7 expression did not correlate relatively significantly with the clinical parameters of age (6/33), sex (3/33) and stage (3/27) in the cancers studied, the results of the survival analysis reflect the pan-cancer prognostic value of ALKBH7. In addition, ALKBH7 expression was significantly correlated with the TMB (7/33), MSI (13/33), mDNAsi (12/33) and mRNAsi (13/33) in human cancers. Moreover, ALKBH7 expression was associated and predominantly negatively correlated with the expression of immune checkpoint (ICP) genes in many cancers. Furthermore, ALKBH7 correlated with infiltrating immune cells and ESTIMATE scores, especially in PAAD, PRAD and THCA. Finally, the ALKBH7 gene coexpression network is involved in the regulation of cellular immune, oxidative, phosphorylation, and metabolic pathways. In conclusion, ALKBH7 may serve as a potential prognostic pan-cancer biomarker and is involved in the immune response. Our pan-cancer analysis provides insight into the role of ALKBH7 in different cancers.
RESUMEN
Volatile halogenated hydrocarbons (VHCs) attracted many attentions due to its toxicity and persistence in the environment. In this research, a novel in situ ecological restoration reactor was applied to the degradation of VHCs in polluted river water. The optimized working condition adaptation of the in situ restoration technique was evaluated through orthogonal tests. The experiments showed that when the water depth was 0.4 m, the HRT was 5 days, and the current velocity was 1 m/s, the optimal removal efficiency of VHCs in the reactor was achieved. And the removal rates of CHCl3, CCl4, C2HCl3, and C2Cl4 reached 70.27%, 70.59%, 67.74%, and 81.82%, respectively. The results showed that both HRT and water depth were significantly related to the removal efficiency of reactor. The physiological state of the plants was analyzed by fitting rapid light curve (RLC) model, which showed that the accumulation of VHCs inhibited the photosynthetic performance of plants. Moreover, the microbial community structures of fillers were tested by high-throughput sequencing, and the findings supported that the microbial community made a great response to adapt to the changes in environment of the reactor. The relative abundance of Rhodocyclaceae increased slightly, which hinted that it had good adaptability to VHCs in polluted river water. The research results confirmed that in situ ecological restoration reactor was a potential approach for removal VHCs in polluted river water.

A high precision optical tracking system (OTS) based on near infrared (NIR) trinocular stereo vision (TSV) is presented in this paper. Compared with the traditional OTS on the basis of binocular stereo vision (BSV), hardware and software are improved. In the hardware aspect, a NIR TSV platform is built, and a new active tool is designed. Imaging markers of the tool are uniform and complete with large measurement angle (>60°). In the software aspect, the deployment of extra camera brings high computational complexity. To reduce the computational burden, a fast nearest neighbor feature point extraction algorithm (FNNF) is proposed. The proposed method increases the speed of feature points extraction by hundreds of times over the traditional pixel-by-pixel searching method. The modified NIR multi-camera calibration method and 3D reconstruction algorithm further improve the tracking accuracy. Experimental results show that the calibration accuracy of the NIR camera can reach 0.02%, positioning accuracy of markers can reach 0.0240 mm, and dynamic tracking accuracy can reach 0.0938 mm. OTS can be adopted in high-precision dynamic tracking.
RESUMEN
This work was aimed at investigating the feasibility of the slope wetland system (SWs) for improving the polluted river water. According to the characteristics of polluted river water with different hydraulic retention time (HRT) changes, a field simulation device was set up. In this experiment, a SWs simulation device was set up to study pollutant removal of SWs under different hydraulic conditions. It was found that the effect of mixed fillers (zeolite and ceramsite) as the bed was better than that of the gravel fillers as the bed. The improvement of each treatment index was about 5% (P < 0.05). When HRT = 5 days, the removal rate of chemical oxygen demand (COD) was 28.02%, total nitrogen (TN) was 32.99%, ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N) was 32.49%, and total phosphorus (TP) was 38.15%. At the same time, it was found that the characteristic moderate extension of HRT is conducive to the removal of pollutants in SWs. The growth of plants in the environment of the gravel matrix was worse than that of mixed fillers (zeolite and ceramsite). It was found that physical adsorption was the main form of pollution removal on the SWs fillers by Fourier infrared spectrum (FTIR) analysis. Based on the analysis of the microbial community in the packing of the device, it is indicated that the enrichment of microorganisms appeared during the experiment, forming the dominant bacteria against the polluted river water.

Submerged macrophytes and phytoplankton assemblage play significant roles in the functioning of aquatic ecosystems. An experiment was carried out in Beijing in order to further evaluate the environmental factors that affect the growth of submerged macrophytes and phytoplankton assemblage. Submerged macrophytes (i.e., Vallisneria natans, Hydrilla verticillata, and Ceratophyllum demersum) constructed the growth system with some controllable influencing factors (i.e., the flow rate and water depth gradient). The flow rates were set separately as 4 L/h (1#), 6 L/h (2#), and 12 L/h (3#), while the water depth gradient was of 0.5-1.7 m in eutrophic water. Generally, all macrophytes could grow normally in the experiment, and the system could maintain and improve the effluent quality. The average removal rates of NH3-N, COD, NO3-N, TN, and TP were about 90%, 33%, 65%, 45%, and 40%, respectively. Seen from the results of the water depth gradient experiments, it is indicated that Vallisneria natans grows better in shallow water (0.5 m) and moderate shallow water (0.7 m) area, with an average relative growth rate (ARGA) of 57%. Hydrilla verticillata and Ceratophyllum demersum grow better in moderate deep water (1.2 m) and deep water (1.7 m) area (ARGA of 66% and 64%, respectively). Results of the flow rate experiments showed that the moderate flow rate (6 L/h) was the best for those three macrophytes' growth. As the fitting results of the rapid light curves (RLCs) showed that the utilization of light and the tolerance to strong light were different for these macrophytes, if they are ranked in the order of the utilization and the tolerance from strong to weak, they are Hydrilla verticillata, Ceratophyllum demersum, and Vallisneria natans. Microbial analyses indicated that the overall system diversity of the experimental groups have been improved after cultivation of macrophytes. However, the accumulated Cyanobacteria caused by the low flow rate (1#) would lead to the suppression of microbial organics decomposition and nutrient metabolism in the macrophytes. To sum up, the results of this study provided theoretical guidance and technical support for the restoration of submerged macrophytes in eutrophic water.

BACKGROUND: The urban sewer system is an important component of urban water infrastructure for sewage collection and transportation, and in-sewer transportation of sewage can cause multitudinous contaminant degradations which lead to formation of gaseous products. Although the greenhouse gases of methane and carbon dioxide have been confirmed to consist in the gaseous products, the mechanisms of greenhouse gas generation were unclear and the significances of greenhouse gases emission from sewers were generally underestimated. RESULTS: In this study, 3 years of monitoring was conducted to evaluate the greenhouse gases emission in 37-km-long urban sewer systems covering 13 km2. The results showed that the emission of carbon dioxide and methane was extensively existing in sewers, and especially, exhibited a characteristic of regional difference. In order to reveal the formation mechanism of carbon dioxide and methane in sewers, the metagenomic approach was utilized to analyze the annotated pathways and homologous bio-enzymes, and it indicated that fourteen pivotal annotated pathways were involved in the carbon dioxide and methane generation. According to the metagenomics and 3-year monitoring results, the total amounts of carbon dioxide and methane emission in sewers were calculated by the transformation venation of contaminants (such as methyl alcohol, methylamine and acetic acid along branch sewer, sub-main sewer and main sewer, respectively). The calculation results showed that the total greenhouse gas emissions in sewer were calculated to be 199 t/day in Xi'an, and if scaling up as population proportion, the greenhouse gas emission from sewer systems in China could be 30,685 t/day. Comparing with the greenhouse gas emissions from different metropolises (New York City, London and Tokyo) and industries (dairy farms, automobile production and steel enterprises), the amount of greenhouse gases produced by the urban sewer system is much higher. CONCLUSIONS: This study revealed the transformation pathways of contaminants which promoted the generation of greenhouse gases in sewers. Based on this analysis, the greenhouse gas emissions along sewer systems were calculated. The results indicate that the greenhouse gas emission from sewer systems is non-negligible, and should be attracted sufficient attention.
RESUMEN
PURPOSE: In this paper, we propose a novel method for human body composition measurement, especially for the bone mineral density (BMD) measurement. The proposed method, using the absorption and differential phase information retrieved from X-ray grating-based interferometer (XGBI) to measure the BMD, has potential to replace dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), which is currently widely used for body composition measurement. METHODS: The DEXA method employs two absorption images acquired at two different X-ray spectra (high energy and low energy) to calculate the human body composition. In this paper, a new method to calculate BMD using a single X-ray measurement is proposed. XGBI is a relatively new X-ray technique that provides absorption, phase and scattering information simultaneously using a single X-ray spectrum. With the absorption and differential phase information retrieved from XGBI, BMD can be measured using only one single X-ray spectrum. Numerical simulations are performed with a body phantom of bone (Cortical, ICRU-44) surrounded by soft tissue (Soft, ICRU-44). BMD is calculated with both the DEXA method and the proposed method. RESULTS: Results show that BMD can be measured accurately with the proposed method; moreover, better signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is obtained compared to DEXA. CONCLUSION: With the proposed method, BMD can be measured with XGBI setup. Further, the proposed method can be realized using current X-ray phase-contrast imaging (XPCI) apparatus without any hardware modification, suggesting that this technique can be a promising supplementary function to current XPCI equipment.

A new calibration method for an inner surface detector based on circle structured light is proposed in this study. Compared with existing methods, this technique is more flexible and practical and only requires a blank planar board and an additional camera, which is precalibrated under the detector's coordinate system. The board is observed by the detector and the additional camera at a few (at least two) different orientations, which need not be known. The mathematical model of this method considers different alignment errors, which are disregarded in existing methods; therefore, precise assembly is not required. The binocular intersection algorithm is used to calculate the coordinates of the calibration points. The measurement system calibrated by this method performs well in the field test in which the maximum relative error of the measured values is less than 0.18%. The experimental result indicates that this method is highly accurate and can be easily applied in inner surface detection.
