Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, progressive, systemic autoimmune disease. While triptolide (TPL) and curcumin (CUR) are known to have multiple beneficial effects on RA, the combined effect of TPL and CUR remains unexplored. This study aimed to investigate their synergistic effect on cell proliferation and apoptosis via the IL-17/NF-κB signaling pathway. The collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) rat model was established, showing severe joint and synovial damage compared to normal rats. Treatment with TPL and CUR reduced the severity of RA in the CIA rat model and alleviated serum inflammatory cytokines, such as rheumatoid factor, IL-17, TNF-α, IL-1ß, and IL-6. The elevated levels of IL-17 and NF-κB in CIA rats were also inhibited, and the resistant apoptosis was aggravated by TPL and CUR. In vitro, the improvement of cell proliferation and induction of apoptosis were observed in LPS-stimulated MH7A cells treated with TPL and CUR, associated with the inhibition of the IL-17/NF-κB signaling pathway. Taken together, a synergistic effect of TPL and CUR on RA may involve relieving symptoms, improving excessive proliferation, inducing apoptosis resistance, and inhibiting the IL-17/NF-κB signaling pathway.

Background: Rosmarinic acid (RA), a natural phenolic acid, exhibits promising anti-cancer properties. The abnormal expression of microRNA (miRNA) regulates the gene expression and plays a role as an oncogenic or tumor suppressor in TNBC. However, the biological role of RA in miR-30a-5p on BCL2L11 during MDA-MB-231 induced breast cancer stem-like cells (BCSCs) progression and its regulatory mechanism have not been elucidated. Objective: To investigate whether RA inhibited the silencing effect of miR-30a-5p on the BCL2L11 gene and promoted apoptosis in BCSCs. Materials and Methods: We assessed the migration, colony formation, proliferation, cell cycle, and apoptosis of BCSCs after RA treatment using the wound-healing assay, colony formation assay, CCK-8 assay, and flow cytometry, respectively. The expression of mRNA and protein levels of BCL-2, Bax, BCL2L11, and P53 genes in BCSCs after RA treatment was obtained by real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blot. Differential miRNA expression in BCSCs was analyzed by high-throughput sequencing. Targetscan was utilized to predict the targets of miR-30a-5p. The dual luciferase reporter system was used for validation of the miR-30a-5p target. Results: Wound-healing assay, colony formation assay, CCK-8 assay, and cell cycle assay results showed that RA inhibited migration, colony formation and viability of BCSCs, and cell cycle arrest in the G0-G1 phase. At the highest dose of RA, we noticed cell atrophy, while the arrest rate at 100 µg/mL RA surpassed that at 200 µg/mL RA. Apoptotic cells appeared early (Membrane Associated Protein V FITC+, PI-) or late (Membrane Associated Protein V FITC+, PI+) upon administration of 200 µg/mL RA, Using high-throughput sequencing to compare the differences in miRNA expression, we detected downregulation of miR-30a-5p expression, and the results of dual luciferase reporter gene analysis indicated that BCL2L11 was a direct target of miR-30a-5p. Conclusion: RA inhibited the silencing effect of miR-30a-5p on the BCL2L11 gene and enhanced apoptosis in BCSCs.

The lower limit temperature in the crop water stress index (CWSI) model refers to the canopy temperature (Tc) or the canopy-air temperature differences (dT) under well-watered conditions, which has significant impacts on the accuracy of the model in quantifying plant water status. At present, the direct estimation of lower limit temperature based on data-driven method has been successfully used in crops, but its applicability has not been tes-ted in forest ecosystems. We collected continuously and synchronously Tc and meteorological data in a Quercus variabilis plantation at the southern foot of Taihang Mountain to evaluate the feasibility of multiple linear regression model and BP neural network model for estimating the lower limit temperature and the accuracy of the CWSI indicating water status of the plantation. The results showed that, in the forest ecosystem without irrigation conditions, the lower limit temperature could be obtained by setting soil moisture as saturation in the multiple linear regression mo-del and the BP neural network model with soil water content, wind speed, net radiation, vapor pressure deficit and air temperature as input parameters. Combining the lower limit temperature and the upper limit temperature determined by the theoretical equation to normalize the measured Tc and dT could realize the non-destructive, rapid, and automatic diagnosis of the water status of Q. variabilis plantation. Among them, the CWSI obtained by combining the lower limit temperature determined by the dT under well-watered condition calculated by the BP neural network model and the upper limit temperature was the most suitable for accurate monitoring water status of the plantation. The coefficient of determination, root mean square error, and index of agreement between the calculated CWSI and measured CWSI were 0.81, 0.08, and 0.90, respectively. This study could provide a reference method for efficient and accurate monitoring of forest ecosystem water status.

Drawing on two theoretical frameworks-positive psychology theory and conservation of resources theory-the relationship and underlying mechanism between team-level service-oriented human resource practice (SO-HRP) bundles and team performance were explored by constructing a team-level serial mediation model. Survey data were collected from 424 employees at 80 branches of five financial holding companies in Northern Taiwan. The team-level serial-mediated model and hypotheses were examined using SPSS version 24 and the PROCESS macro for SPSS. The results indicate that team psychological capital (PsyCap) and team work engagement serially mediated the relationship between SO-HRP bundles and team performance. These results imply that managers should plan and implement SO-HRP bundles in detail, reinforce team PsyCap, and increase engagement within their financial service teams to enhance team performance.

OBJECTIVE: The overlapping syndrome of anti-GFAP and anti-MOG antibodies is extremely rare. This retrospective study reports 8 adult cases of the GFAP-MOG overlapping syndrome. METHODS: We reviewed the clinical characteristics of 8 adult patients with the GFAP-MOG overlapping syndrome from Jan 2019 and Sep 2023 at the Third Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University. Moreover, we searched the literature and included all case reports with this overlapping syndrome since 2018 on PubMed. RESULTS: The predominant clinical syndrome was meningoencephalomyelitis (5/8), followed by meningoencephalitis (2/8), and myelitis (1/8). Five patients had a flu-like prodromal symptom or diarrhea. No neoplasms were found in these patients. Regarding brain MRI, T2-weighted/fluid-attenuated inversion recovery hyperintensities were in 7 patients and leptomeningeal enhancement was in 4 patients. However, only one patient had periventricular radial linear enhancement. Besides, two patients had large space-occupying lesions. For spinal MRI, T2-hyperintensities were observed in 4 patients, in which 3 patients had longitudinally extensive lesions. All patients were treated with immunotherapy, the median follow-up period was 18 months (range, 3-36 months). Three patients presented relapses during the follow-up, but all cases recovered to mRS scores ≤ 2 at last follow-up. In addition, we also reviewed 14 cases (including 7 adults and 7 children) with this overlapping syndrome by literature review. CONCLUSION: Our findings provide data to understand the clinical features and prognosis of the GFAP-MOG overlapping syndrome. Recognizing this overlapping syndrome will expand our knowledge, allowing for better management of these patients.

BACKGROUND: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common subtype of liver cancer. The primary treatment strategies for HCC currently include liver transplantation and surgical resection. However, these methods often yield unsatisfactory outcomes, leading to a poor prognosis for many patients. This underscores the urgent need to identify and evaluate novel therapeutic targets that can improve the prognosis and survival rate of HCC patients. AIM: To construct a radiomics model that can accurately predict the EZH2 expression in HCC. METHODS: Gene expression, clinical parameters, HCC-related radiomics, and fibroblast-related genes were acquired from public databases. A gene model was developed, and its clinical efficacy was assessed statistically. Drug sensitivity analysis was conducted with identified hub genes. Radiomics features were extracted and machine learning algorithms were employed to generate a radiomics model related to the hub genes. A nomogram was used to illustrate the prognostic significance of the computed Radscore and the hub genes in the context of HCC patient outcomes. RESULTS: EZH2 and NRAS were independent predictors for prognosis of HCC and were utilized to construct a predictive gene model. This model demonstrated robust performance in diagnosing HCC and predicted an unfavorable prognosis. A negative correlation was observed between EZH2 expression and drug sensitivity. Elevated EZH2 expression was linked to poorer prognosis, and its diagnostic value in HCC surpassed that of the risk model. A radiomics model, developed using a logistic algorithm, also showed superior efficiency in predicting EZH2 expression. The Radscore was higher in the group with high EZH2 expression. A nomogram was constructed to visually demonstrate the significant roles of the radiomics model and EZH2 expression in predicting the overall survival of HCC patients. CONCLUSION: EZH2 plays significant roles in diagnosing HCC and therapeutic efficacy. A radiomics model, developed using a logistic algorithm, efficiently predicted EZH2 expression and exhibited strong correlation with HCC prognosis.

Ovarian cancer is the primary cause of death from cancer in female patients. The existing treatments for ovarian cancer are restricted and ineffective in achieving a cure for the disease. To address this issue, we provide a novel approach to treating ovarian cancer by utilizing a liposomal carrier that effectively delivers the chemotherapeutic drugs carmustine (BCNU) and cabazitaxel (CTX). Initially, the combined impact of BCNU and CTX was confirmed, revealing that this impact reaches its maximum at a ratio of 1:2 mol/mol (BCNU/CTX). After that, the BC-Lipo co-delivery system was developed, which has a high capability for loading drugs (97.48% ± 1.14 for BCNU, 86.29% ± 3.03 for CTX). This system also has a sustained release profile and a beneficial long-circulating feature. The accumulation of BC-Lipo in tumors was dramatically enhanced compared to the accumulation of the free drug. Furthermore, BC-Lipo demonstrated similar levels of cytotoxicity to free BCNU and CTX (BCNU/CTX) when tested on HeLa cells in an in vitro model. Biochemical staining methods investigated the cancer cell's morphological examination. The apoptosis was confirmed by FITC-Annexin-V/PI staining by flow cytometry analysis. In addition, the investigation of fluorescence and protein markers examined the apoptosis mechanistic pathway, and the results indicated that BC-Lipo induced apoptosis due to mitochondrial membrane potential variation. This proof-of-concept study has established the probability of these BCNU-CTX combined treatments as active drug delivery nanocarriers for poorly soluble BCNU and CTX.

The ß-glucosidases known to improve tea aroma are all mesothermal enzymes, limiting their use under brewing conditions. Based on the properties analysis and molecular docking, the thermostable ß-glucosidase (TPG) from Thermotoga petrophlia showed potential to enhance tea aroma. Treatment by recombinant TPG at 90 °C, the floral, sweet and grassy notes of instant Oolong tea were increased, while the roasted, caramel and woody notes were decreased. The improved floral, sweet and grassy notes were related to increase releasing of benzyl alcohol (floral), geraniol (floral), (Z)-3-hexen-1-ol (grassy), benzaldehyde (sweet) and 1-hexanol (grassy) by TPG hydrolyzing of (Z)-3-hexenyl-ß-D-glucopyranoside, hexanyl-ß-D-glucopyranoside (HGP), benzyl-ß-D-glucopyranoside, prunasin and geranyl-ß-D-glucopyranoside (GGP), respectively. Although the catalytic efficiency of TGP to GGP was about twice that to HGP, HPG was more competitive than GGP when they mixed. Combined with microstructure analysis, the structure-function relationship of TPG-influencing tea aroma were understood. This study provided the method of how to mining new function of characterized ß-glucosidases, as well as a theoretical basis for the development of new tea products.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Although composite resin restorations have been widely used for dental restorations, the durability of the bond affects the rate of restoration failure. However, how multiple strategies for enhancing the resin-dentin bond affect durability is unclear. PURPOSE: The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to evaluate the impact of dentin conditioners on resin-dentin bond strength with different pretreatments before the application of adhesives. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library databases were searched from 2013 to July 2023 for in vitro studies that evaluated the impact of dentin conditioners on resin-dentin bond strength. The meta-analysis was conducted using a random-effects model with pooled effect as standardized mean differences (α=.05). RESULTS: A total of 23 studies met the inclusion criteria for qualitative analysis, of which 15 were used for quantitative analysis. The results demonstrated that, under dry bonding conditions, selective extrafibrillar demineralization dentin conditioners significantly enhanced the immediate bond strength (P<.001). The long-term bond strength was limited by the sample size of the subgroup, but a significant effect was found after using selective extrafibrillar demineralization dentin conditioners (P<.001). However, metal salt-based dentin conditioners improved the immediate bond strength only under wet bonding conditions (P=.010). Notably, acid-based dentin conditioners significantly improved the long-term bond strength under both dry and wet bonding conditions (P<.001 and P=.006). CONCLUSIONS: The application of acid-based dentin conditioners significantly improved resin-dentin bond durability under both wet and dry bonding conditions. Furthermore, selective extrafibrillar demineralization dentin conditioners demonstrated remarkable effectiveness in improving resin-dentin bond durability under dry bonding conditions; however, more data are needed to support their use.

In this study, a liquid chromatographic method was developed for the fast determination of lincomycin, polymyxin and vancomycin in a preservation solution for transplants. A Kinetex EVO C18 (150 × 4.6 mm, 2.6 µm) column was utilized at 45 °C. Gradient elution was applied using a mixture of mobile phases A and B, both including 30 mM phosphate buffer at pH 2.0 and acetonitrile, at a ratio of 95:5 (v/v) for A and 50:50 (v/v) for B. A flow rate of 1.0 mL/min, an injection volume of 20 µL and UV detection at 210 nm were used. A degradation study treating the three antibiotics with 0.5 M hydrochloric acid, 0.5 M sodium hydroxide and 3% H2O2 indicated that the developed method was selective toward lincomycin, polymyxin, vancomycin and their degradation products. Other ingredients of the preservation solution, like those from the cell culture medium, did not interfere. The method was validated with good sensitivity, linearity, precision and accuracy. Furthermore, lincomycin, polymyxin and vancomycin were found to be stable in this preservation solution for 4 weeks when stored at -20 °C.

Water-soluble fluorescent chemosensors for lead ion are highly desirable in environmental detection and bioimagery. Based on a water-soluble pillar[5]arene WP5 and imidazolium terminal functionalized 2,2'-bibenzimidazole derivative BIHB, we report a host-guest charge transfer assembly BIHB-2WP5 for sensitive and selective detection of Pb2+ in pure aqueous media. As a result of its high electron-rich cavity, WP5 can bind electron-deficiency guest BIHB with various host/guest stoichiometry to easily tune the microtopography of assembly from nanoparticle to nanocube. In view of the good biocompatibility and sensitivity, the supramolecular assembly BIHB-2WP5 was used as a fluorescent probe for the detection of Pb2+ in living cells and a smartphone Pb2+ detection device was constructed for the in situ test.

The coastal Casuarina equisetifolia is the most common tree species in Hainan's coastal protection forests. Sequencing the genomes of its allelopathic endophytes can allow the protective effects of these bacteria to be effectively implemented in protected forests. The goal of this study was to sequence the whole genomes of the endophytes Bacillus amyloliquefaciens and Bacillus aryabhattai isolated from C. equisetifolia root tissues. The results showed that the genome sizes of B. amyloliquefaciens and B. aryabhattai were 3.854 Mb and 5.508 Mb, respectively. The two strains shared 2514 common gene families while having 1055 and 2406 distinct gene families, respectively. The two strains had 283 and 298 allelochemical synthesis-associated genes, respectively, 255 of which were shared by both strains and 28 and 43 of which were unique to each strain, respectively. The genes were putatively involved in 11 functional pathways, including secondary metabolite biosynthesis, terpene carbon skeleton biosynthesis, biosynthesis of ubiquinone and other terpene quinones, tropane/piperidine and piperidine alkaloids biosynthesis, and phenylpropanoid biosynthesis. NQO1 and entC are known to be involved in the biosynthesis of ubiquinone and other terpenoid quinones, and rfbC/rmlC, rfbA/rmlA/rffH, and rfbB/rmlB/rffG are involved in the biosynthesis of polyketide glycan units. Among the B. aryabhattai-specific allelochemical synthesis-related genes, STE24 is involved in terpene carbon skeleton production, atzF and gdhA in arginine biosynthesis, and TYR in isoquinoline alkaloid biosynthesis. B. amyloliquefaciens and B. aryabhattai share the genes aspB, yhdR, trpA, trpB, and GGPS, which are known to be involved in the synthesis of carotenoids, indole, momilactones, and other allelochemicals. Additionally, these bacteria are involved in allelochemical synthesis via routes such as polyketide sugar unit biosynthesis and isoquinoline alkaloid biosynthesis. This study sheds light on the genetic basis of allelopathy in Bacillus strains associated with C. equisetifolia, highlighting the possible use of these bacteria in sustainable agricultural strategies for weed management and crop protection.

Peptides are widely used as natural bio-small molecules because of their various pharmacological activities such as enhancing immunity, promoting wound healing, and improving inflammation. Alcoholic heart injury has become one of the major health problems worldwide, and alcohol consumption is now the main cause of alcoholic cardiomyopathy. In this study, deer heart peptides were extracted from deer hearts by enzymatic digestion and the antioxidant activity of deer heart peptides extracted at different times was evaluated by three in vitro antioxidant methods, and the active peptide with the best enzymatic effect has been selected for in vivo animal experiments. The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of deer heart enzymatic extracts were evaluated in in vivo experiments in mice. In this study, mice were orally gavaged with white wine (12 mL/kg body weight) to induce a mouse model of cardiac injury, while mice were orally administered a single dose of 100 mg/kg/bw and 200 mg/kg/bw of deer heart enzyme digest and were examined for body weight, dietary intake, water intake, and coat gloss, as well as for general behaviors, adverse effects, and mortality. Histology, serum, anti-inflammatory factors, and oxidative stress parameters were subsequently assessed. In all modeled mice, no four-way or any significant behavioral changes were observed in all groups, but in the modeled group, mice showed weight loss, decreased diet and water intake, and decreased cardiac index. For in vivo tests, the extract inhibited the anti-inflammatory activity with a significant decrease in inflammatory factors of TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1ß in cardiac tissues, a significant increase in serum levels of both CAT and SOD, an increase in MDA content, and a remarkable increase in the level of the marker CK in the cardiac myocardial enzyme profile. Significant improvement in myocardial disorders by deer heart peptide could be observed from heart tissue sections. The present study emphasizes the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity of deer heart peptide, an enzymatic digest of deer heart, which provides empirical as well as supportive role for the anti-inflammatory properties of traditional medicine.

Background: Fine particulate matter (PM2.5), an important component of ambient air pollution, induces significant adverse health effects. MitoQuinone (MitoQ), a mitochondria-targeted antioxidant, has been reported to play a protective role in various diseases. However, the roles of MitoQ in PM2.5 induced pulmonary toxicity remains to be elucidated. Methods: All the experiments were performed at Higher Educational Key Laboratory for Translational Oncology of Fujian Province, Putian City, China in 2023. Pulmonary epithelial cells (A549) were pretreated with 4 µM MitoQ for 2 h and exposed to PM2.5 for 24 h. Cell viability was tested through CCK8 assay. Oxidative stress state and active mitochondria was used to study MitoQ's effect on PM2.5 induced injury, and cell apoptosis was measured using a flow cytometer and analyzed by Bcl-2 family. Results: MitoQ pretreatment significantly relieved a decreased cell viability, subsequently, MitoQ alleviated ROS production and prevented the reduction of T-AOC and GSH and increased the expression of NF-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and p62 in A549 cells exposed to PM2.5. MitoQ restored the decreased mitochondrial dysfunction and dynamics disorder and inhibited activated mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis induced by PM2.5. Furthermore, the decreased ratio of Bcl-2/Bax and expression of Mcl-1 and the enhanced expression of Caspase-3 were reversed by MitoQ pretreatment. Conclusion: MitoQ might be regarded as a potential drug to relieve PM2.5 induced pulmonary epithelial cells damage.

Circularly polarized luminescence (CPL), as an important chiroptical phenomenon, can not only directly characterize excited-state structural information about chiroptical materials but also has great application prospects in 3D optical displays, information storage, biological probes, CPL lasers and so forth. Recently, chiral organic small molecules with CPL have attracted a lot of research interest because of their excellent luminescence efficiency, clear molecular structures, unique flexibility and easy functionalization. Planar chiral organic compounds make up an important class of chiral organic small molecular materials and often have rigid macrocyclic skeletons, which have important research value in the field of chiral supramolecular chemistry (e.g., chiral self-assembly and chiral host-guest chemistry). Therefore, research into planar chiral organic compounds has become a hotspot for CPL. It is time to summarize the recent developments in CPL-active compounds based on planar chirality. In this feature article, we summarize various types of CPL-active compounds based on planar chirality. Meanwhile, we overview recent research in the field of planar chiral CPL-active compounds in terms of optoelectronic devices, asymmetric catalysis, and chiroptical sensing. Finally, we discuss their future research prospects in the field of CPL-active materials. Adenomyosis (ADS) is a common gynecological disorder, and its pathogenesis remains unclear. This study explores the functions of circRNAs in the eutopic endometrium of ADS and their diagnostic efficacy for ADS. High-throughput RNA sequencing was performed on 12 eutopic endometrial samples from ADS patients and 3 control endometrial samples. Additionally, circRNAs were analyzed in conjunction with clinical features. A competitive endogenous RNA network was established based on bioinformatics analysis, comprising 3 circRNAs, 1 miRNA, and 13 mRNAs. In the ADS group, the expression levels of hsa_circ_0008959 and SLC15A4 were significantly reduced, while hsa-miR-124-3p expression was increased. SLC15A4 was associated with cell proliferation and invasion. Decreased expression of hsa_circ_0008959 and SLC15A4, along with high VAS scores and elevated hsa-miR-124-3p levels, were identified as risk factors for ADS development. The combination of hsa_circ_0008959 and VAS scores demonstrated the highest diagnostic value for ADS.

The single-pass transmembrane protein Stromal Interaction Molecule 1 (STIM1), located in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane, possesses two main functions: It senses the ER-Ca2+ concentration and directly binds to the store-operated Ca2+ channel Orai1 for its activation when Ca2+ recedes. At high resting ER-Ca2+ concentration, the ER-luminal STIM1 domain is kept monomeric but undergoes di/multimerization once stores are depleted. Luminal STIM1 multimerization is essential to unleash the STIM C-terminal binding site for Orai1 channels. However, structural basis of the luminal association sites has so far been elusive. Here, we employed molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and identified two essential di/multimerization segments, the α7 and the adjacent region near the α9-helix in the sterile alpha motif (SAM) domain. Based on MD results, we targeted the two STIM1 SAM domains by engineering point mutations. These mutations interfered with higher-order multimerization of ER-luminal fragments in biochemical assays and puncta formation in live-cell experiments upon Ca2+ store depletion. The STIM1 multimerization impeded mutants significantly reduced Ca2+ entry via Orai1, decreasing the Ca2+ oscillation frequency as well as store-operated Ca2+ entry. Combination of the ER-luminal STIM1 multimerization mutations with gain of function mutations and coexpression of Orai1 partially ameliorated functional defects. Our data point to a hydrophobicity-driven binding within the ER-luminal STIM1 multimer that needs to switch between resting monomeric and activated multimeric state. Altogether, these data reveal that interactions between SAM domains of STIM1 monomers are critical for multimerization and activation of the protein.

Much of what we remember is not because of intentional selection, but simply a by-product of perceiving. This raises a foundational question about the architecture of the mind: how does perception interface with and influence memory? Here, inspired by a classic proposal relating perceptual processing to memory durability, the level-of-processing theory, we present a sparse coding model for compressing feature embeddings of images, and show that the reconstruction residuals from this model predict how well images are encoded into memory. In an open memorability dataset of scene images, we show that reconstruction error not only explains memory accuracy, but also response latencies during retrieval, subsuming, in the latter case, all of the variance explained by powerful vision-only models. We also confirm a prediction of this account with 'model-driven psychophysics'. This work establishes reconstruction error as an important signal interfacing perception and memory, possibly through adaptive modulation of perceptual processing.

BACKGROUND: Keloids are excessive formations of scar tissue that develop at the site of a skin injury. Due to their invasive nature, they have a negative impact on the skin's appearance and are prone to recurrence, making them a challenging condition to treat in terms of skin aesthetics. OBJECTIVES: The objective of this article is to compare the long-term effects of dermatologic trephination with non-surgical treatments in scar repair and evaluate their clinical value. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 48 patients who received keloids treatment in the Department of Dermatology and Thoracic Surgery of our hospital from January 2021 to October 2023, of which 24 patients received dermatologic trephination and 24 patients received non-surgical treatment. Outcome measures included scar appearance, scar healing time, pain and itching levels, and patient satisfaction. RESULTS: In the comparison of scar healing time, the healing time of patients using dermatologic trephination was significantly shorter than that of patients in the non-surgical group. In the evaluation of the degree of itching, the degree of itching in patients undergoing dermatologic trephination was significantly lower than that of patients in the non-surgical group. In the evaluation of satisfaction, the satisfaction of patients using dermatologic trephination was significantly higher than that of patients in the non-surgical group. CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates that trephination achieves more significant long-term results in keloid revision, including improved keloid appearance, itching and patient satisfaction.
