Elevated concentrations of formaldehyde and other carbonyl compounds are frequently observed in the marine atmosphere but are often significantly underestimated by atmospheric models. To evaluate the potential impact of marine sources on atmospheric formaldehyde, high-resolution measurements were conducted at a coastal site (∼15 m from the sea) during the summer in Qingdao, China. Observed formaldehyde levels averaged 2.4 ± 0.9 ppbv (1 ppbv = 10-9 L L-1), with peaks reaching 6.8 ppbv. Backward trajectories indicate that formaldehyde concentrations remained high in marine air masses. Formaldehyde exhibited weak correlations with primary pollutants such as NO and CO but showed strong correlations with marine tracers, notably methyl ethyl ketone and 1-butene. Chamber experiments confirmed that the photodecomposition of Enteromorpha released large amounts of formaldehyde and marine tracer species. When normalized to acetylene, the levels of formaldehyde, 1-butene, and MEK increased by factors of 3.8, 8.1, and 3.5, respectively. Results from an observation-based chemical box model simulation, which utilizes the Master Chemical Mechanism (MCM), revealed that formaldehyde contributes 56% to the primary source of HO2 radicals, while neglecting formaldehyde chemistry would lead to a 15% reduction in coastal ozone production rates. This study interlinks oceanic biology and atmospheric chemistry, advancing the understanding of the ocean's role as a significant source of organic compounds and its contribution to carbon cycling.

BACKGROUND: Stapled hemorrhoidopexy (SH) is currently a widely accepted method for treating the prolapse of internal hemorrhoids. Postoperative anal stenosis is a critical complication of SH. A remedy for this involves the removal of the circumferential staples of the anastomosis, followed by the creation of a hand-sewn anastomosis. Numerous studies have reported modified SH procedures to improve outcomes. We hypothesized that our modified SH technique may help reduce complications of anal stenosis after SH. AIM: To compare outcomes of staple removal at the 3- and 9-o'clock positions during modified SH in patients with mixed hemorrhoids. METHODS: This was a single-center, retrospective, observational study. Patients with grade III or IV hemorrhoids who underwent standard or modified SH at our colorectal center between January 1, 2015, and January 1, 2020, were included. The operation time, blood loss, length of hospital stay, and incidence of minor or major complications were recorded. RESULTS: Patients with grade III or IV hemorrhoids who underwent standard or modified SH at our colorectal center between January 1, 2015 and January 1, 2020, were included. Operation time, blood loss, length of hospital stay, and incidence of minor or major complications were recorded. We investigated 187 patients (mean age, 50.9 years) who had undergone our modified SH and 313 patients (mean age, 53.0 years) who had undergone standard SH. In the modified SH group, 54% of patients had previously undergone surgical intervention for hemorrhoids, compared with the 40.3% of patients in the standard SH group. The modified SH group included five (2.7%) patients with anal stenosis, while 21 (6.7%) patients in the standard SH group had complications of anal stenosis. There was a significant relationship between the rate of postoperative anal stenosis and the modified SH: 0.251 (0.085-0.741) and 0.211 (0.069-0.641) in multiple regression analysis. The modified SH technique is a safe surgical method for advanced grade hemorrhoids and might result in a lower rate of postoperative anal stenosis than standard SH. CONCLUSION: The modified SH technique is a safe surgical method for advanced grade hemorrhoids and might result in a lower rate of postoperative anal stenosis than standard SH.

ABSTRACT: Subcutaneous metastases are rare in prostate cancer. Herein, we present a case of a 66-year-old man with prostate cancer, who underwent 68Ga-labeled DOTA-ibandronic acid (68Ga-DOTA-IBA) PET/CT to explore the possibility of 177Lu-DOTA-IBA treatment. 68Ga-DOTA-IBA PET/CT demonstrated intensely increased uptake in the multiple osteoblastic bone metastases. Unexpectedly, 68Ga-DOTA-IBA uptake in multiple subcutaneous metastases was also noted.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: This study aimed to examine the cumulative effects of body mass index (BMI), body roundness index (BRI), pulse pressure (PP), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) and fasting plasma glucose (FPG) on Type 2 diabetes (T2D) morbidity. METHODS: A total of 78,456 participants aged older than 45 years were extracted from basic public health services in China. During the 2-year follow-up, 6,942 individuals had developed T2D. The binary logistic regression models and multinomial logistic regression models were conducted to investigate the effects of cumulative metabolic parameters on incident T2D, prediabetes regression and progression. RESULTS: We found statistically deleterious impacts of exposure to high cumulative BMI, BRI, PP, TG and low cumulative HDL on T2D morbidity and prediabetes progression. Compared to the group with low cumulative of all five parameters, the adjusted ORs for new-onset T2D for participants presenting with 1-2, 3, and 4-5 elevated metabolic parameters were 1.41(1.31,1.52), 1.93(1.74,2.13) and 2.21(1.94,2.51), respectively. There was additive interaction between FPG level and cumulative metabolic parameters with T2D. Compared with participants with the lowest quartile of FPG and low cumulative of all 5 parameters, those with the highest quartile of FPG and high cumulative of 4-5 parameters had a 14.63 [95% CI (12.27, 17.42)] higher risk of incident T2D. CONCLUSIONS: Participants with more numbers of high-cumulative metabolic parameters were associated with a higher risk of incident T2D and prediabetes progression. A high level of normal FPG could enhance these risks.

Depression is a common psychiatric disorder among patients undergoing maintenance haemodialysis (MHD). Depression may reportedly contribute to poor prognosis in several ways, including its effects on platelet function. We hypothesised that depression contributes to the occurrence of cardiocerebral vascular events (CCVE) and dysfunction of arteriovenous fistula (DAVF) in patients undergoing MHD through its effects on platelets. In this prospective cohort study, patients undergoing MHD were recruited and divided into depression and non-depression groups according to their Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) scores. The 286 enrolled patients had 103 occurrences of depressive symptoms (prevalence = 36.01%). Compared with the non-depression group, depression group had a significantly higher cumulative prevalence of CCVE and DAVF during follow-up. Cox regression analysis indicated that higher HAMD scores and lower plasma platelet distribution width (PDW) were common risk factors for CCVE and DAVF. Furthermore, HAMD scores were significantly negatively correlated with plasma PDW and was the main variable affecting changes in PDW, as indicated by multiple linear regression analysis. Depression may increase the risk of CCVE and DAVF in patients undergoing MHD by activating platelets. Plasma PDW may be a convenient indicator of platelet activation status and may predict the risk of CCVE and DAVF.

Wetlands are highly diverse and productive and are among the three most important natural ecosystems worldwide, among which coastal wetlands are particularly valuable because they have been shown to provide important functions for human populations. They provide a wide variety of ecological services and values that are critical to humans. Their value may increase with increased use or scarcity owing to human progress, such as agriculture and urbanization. The potential assessment for one coastal wetland habitat to be substituted by another landscape depends on analyzing complex microbial communities including fungi, bacteria, viruses, and protozoa common in different wetlands. Moreover, the number and quality of resources in coastal wetlands, including nutrients and energy sources, are also closely related to the size and variety of the microbial communities. In this review, we discussed types of wetlands, how human activities had altered the carbon cycle, how climate change affected wetland services and functions, and identified some ways to promote their conservation and restoration that provide a range of benefits, including carbon sequestration. Current data also indicated that the coastal ocean acted as a net sink for atmospheric carbon dioxide in a post-industrial age and continuous human pressure would make a major impact on the evolution the coastal ocean carbon budget in the future. Coastal wetland ecosystems contain diverse microbial communities, and their composition of microbial communities will tend to change rapidly in response to environmental changes, as can serve as significant markers for identifying these changes in the future.

BACKGROUND: We concurrently developed a prospective study to assess clinical outcomes among patients receiving 9-month bedaquiline (BDQ)-containing regimens, aiming to provide valuable data on the use of this short-course regimen in China. METHODS: This open-label, randomized, controlled, multicenter, non-inferiority trial was conducted at sixteen hospitals, and enrolled participants aged 18 years and older with pulmonary rifampicin/multidrug tuberculosis. Participants were randomly assigned, in a 1:1 ratio. Individuals within the standard-regimen group received 6 months of BDQ, linezolid, levofloxacin, clofazimine, and cycloserine plus 12 months of levofloxacin, and any three potentially effective drugs from clofazimine, cycloserine pyrazinamide, ethambutol and protionamide, whereas individuals within shorter-regimen group received 9 months of BDQ, linezolid, levofloxacin, clofazimine and cycloserine. The primary outcome was the percentage of participants with a composite unfavorable outcome (treatment failure, death, treatment discontinuation, or loss to follow-up) by the end of the treatment course after randomization in the modified intention-to-treat population. The noninferiority margin was 10%. This trial was registered with www.chictr.org.cn , ChiCTR2000029012. RESULTS: Between Jan 1, 2020, and Dec 31, 2023, 264 were screened and randomly assigned, 132 of 264 participants were assigned to the standard-regimen group and 132 were assigned to the shorter-regimen. Thirty-three (12.55%) of 264 participants were excluded from the modified intention-to-treat analysis. As a result, 231 participants were included in the modified intention-to-treat analysis (116 in the standard-regimen group and 115 in the shorter-regimen group).In the modified intention-to-treat population, unfavorable outcomes were reported in 19 (16.5%) of 115 participants for whom the outcome was assessable in the shorter-regimen group and 26 (22.4%) of 116 participants in the standard care group (risk difference 5.9 percentage points (97.5% CI - 5.8 to 17.5)). One death was reported in the standard-regimen group. The incidence of QTcF prolongation in the shorter-regimen group (22.6%, 26/115) was similar to the standard-regimen group (24.1%, 28/116). CONCLUSIONS: The 9-month, all-oral regimen is safe and efficacious for the treatment of pulmonary rifampicin/multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. The high incidence of QTc prolongation associated with the use of BDQ highlights the urgent need of routine electrocardiogram monitoring under treatment with BDQ-containing regimens in the Chinese population.

Berberine (BBR) is a major active component of traditional Chinese medicine Rhizoma Coptidis and Cortex Phellodendri, which have been frequently used to treat liver diseases. Oxidative stress and inflammation are two pivotal hepatic pathological hallmarks. This study aimed to explore the potential effect and underlying mechanism of BBR on fructose-induced rat liver injury model, and hepatocyte damage in HepG2 and BRL-3A cells. Our results indicated that BBR effectively reversed fructose-induced body weight gain, glucose intolerance, and insulin resistance, observably attenuated abnormal histopathological alterations and ameliorated serum activities of ALT and AST. In vivo and in vitro, BBR significantly alleviated the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6 and TNF-α, and elevated levels of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10. BBR also attenuated oxidative stress by markedly decreasing intracellular contents of ROS and MDA, and increasing SOD enzymatic activity and GSH level. Furthermore, BBR substantially upregulated the protein expression of Nrf2, HO-1 and p-AMPK, and the fluorescence level of p-AMPK. In addition, BBR significantly increased the level of AMP, the ratio of AMP/ATP, and promoted the expression of ADK. Nevertheless, siADK abolished the benefits exerted by BBR on HepG2 and BRL-3A cells. Conclusively, the hepatoprotective effect of BBR was believed to be intimately associated with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant action mediated, at least partially, via ADK/AMPK/Nrf2 signaling. This work provided further support for the traditional application of Rhizoma Coptidis and Cortex Phellodendri in liver protection and might shed novel dimension to the clinical application of BBR, providing a promising lead compound for drug design.

To establish the quality control method of Dioscorea opposita Thunb., the multi-level fingerprinting of polysaccharides was established and the relationship between fingerprint and immune activity was analyzed. The two molecular weight segments Mw1 (1.38 × 105-1.63 × 106 Da) and Mw2 (3.27 × 103-4.37 × 103 Da), thirteen infrared absorption peaks (3399.26 cm-1, 2929.32 cm-1, 1631.78 cm-1, 1400.39 cm-1, 1351.80 cm-1, 1123.58 cm-1, 1024.76 cm-1, 931.53 cm-1, 854.76 cm-1, 760.43 cm-1, 708.14 cm-1, 616.47 cm-1, and 526.78 cm-1), and four monosaccharides (Man, Rha, GalA, and Glc) were used to evaluate the quality of Dioscorea opposita Thunb. The molecular weight fragments of Mw1, FT-IR absorption peaks of 1631.78 cm-1, and two monosaccharides (Man and Glc) would be used to identify Dioscorea opposita Thunb. polysaccharide (DOP) from different origins. The relationship of spectrum-effect showed that polysaccharides with features such as higher Mw1, a lower peak height of 1631.78 cm-1, higher content of Man, and lower content of Glc exerted stronger immune activity. In conclusion, this study established a polysaccharide-based quality evaluation method for Dioscorea opposita Thunb. and explored the relationship between polysaccharide fingerprints and in vitro immune activity, which provided a basis for further research on Dioscorea opposita Thunb.

Carbonyl compounds play a crucial role in the formation of ozone (O3) and secondary aerosols, with recent studies particularly highlighting formaldehyde (HCHO) as a significant contributor to the missing particulate sulfur. However, evaluations based on field observations are limited, especially in clean marine environments. Utilizing observation data from a coastal mountain site in May 2021 in Qingdao, northern China, we reveal the important regulating effect of carbonyls in atmospheric oxidation capacity and particulate sulfur chemistry using detailed chemical box models. Photolysis of gaseous carbonyls accounted for >90% and >60% of the primary sources of HO2 and RO2, respectively, contributing 38% of net O3 production. Notably, HCHO alone constituted 80% of the primary HO2 and 15% of net O3 production. Using a multiphase model with updated HCHO-related chemistry, we determine that HCHO chemistry can account for up to 30% of total particulate sulfur (the sum of hydroxymethanesulfonate and sulfate) and address more than one-third of the simulated sulfate gap. The emission-based multiphase model indicates that the HCHO-related pathway remains significant and can account for 20% of the particulate sulfur under clean marine conditions. These findings underscore the importance of carbonyls, particularly HCHO, in regulating the atmospheric oxidation capacity and particulate sulfur chemistry in the marine atmosphere, urging further laboratory studies on chemical kinetics and field measurements of particle-phase carbonyls.

The interactions between dietary cholesterol and intestinal microbiota strongly affect host health. Sulfonation is a major conjugating pathway responsible for regulating the chemical and functional homeostasis of endogenous and exogenous molecules. However, the role of cholesterol sulfonation metabolism in the host remains unclear. This work was designed to profile cholesterol-specific host-microbe interaction and conversion focusing on cholesterol sulfonation metabolism. Results indicated that the serum and fecal cholesterol sulfate (CHS) levels were significantly higher than those of total bile acid (TBA) levels in hypercholesterolemic mice. Deletion of the gut microbiota by antibiotics could dramatically increase total cholesterol (TC) levels but it decreased CHS levels in a pseudo-germ-free (PGF) mouse host. 16S rRNA gene sequencing assay and correlation analysis between the abundance of various intestinal bacteria (phylum and class) and the CHS/TC ratio showed that the intestinal genera Bacteroides contributed essentially to cholesterol sulfonation metabolism. These results were further confirmed in an in situ and ex vivo mouse intestinal model, which indicated that the sulfonation metabolism rate of cholesterol could reach 42% under high cholesterol conditions. These findings provided new evidence that the sulfonation metabolic pathway dominated cholesterol metabolism in hypercholesterolemic mice and microbial conversion of cholesterol-to-CHS was of vital importance for cholesterol-lowering by Bacteroides. This suggested that the gut microbiota could regulate cholesterol metabolism and that it was feasible to reduce cholesterol levels by dietary interventions involving the gut microbiota.

Algae mostly occur either as unicellular (microalgae) or multicellular (macroalgae) species, both being uninucleate. There are important exceptions, however, as some unicellular algae are multinucleate and macroscopic, some of which inhabit tropical seas and contribute to biocalcification and coral reef robustness. The evolutionary mechanisms and ecological significance of multinucleation and associated traits (e.g., rapid wound healing) are poorly understood. Here, we report the genome of Halimeda opuntia, a giant multinucleate unicellular chlorophyte characterized by interutricular calcification. We achieve a high-quality genome assembly that shows segregation into four subgenomes, with evidence for polyploidization concomitant with historical sea level and climate changes. We further find myosin VIII missing in H. opuntia and three other unicellular multinucleate chlorophytes, suggesting a potential mechanism that may underpin multinucleation. Genome analysis provides clues about how the unicellular alga could survive fragmentation and regenerate, as well as potential signatures for extracellular calcification and the coupling of calcification with photosynthesis. In addition, proteomic alkalinity shifts were found to potentially confer plasticity of H. opuntia to ocean acidification (OA). Our study provides crucial genetic information necessary for understanding multinucleation, cell regeneration, plasticity to OA, and different modes of calcification in algae and other organisms, which has important implications in reef conservation and bioengineering.

Recently, a rapid advancement in using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for yield prediction (YP) has led to many YP research findings. This study aims to visualize the intellectual background, research progress, knowledge structure, and main research frontiers of the entire YP domain for main cereal crops using VOSviewer and a comprehensive literature review. To develop visualization networks of UAVs related knowledge for YP of wheat, maize, rice, and soybean (WMRS) crops, the original research articles published between January 2001 and August 2023 were retrieved from the web of science core collection (WOSCC) database. Significant contributors have been observed to the growth of YP-related research, including the most active countries, prolific publications, productive writers and authors, the top contributing institutions, influential journals, papers, and keywords. Furthermore, the study observed the primary contributions of YP for WMRS crops using UAVs at the micro, meso, and macro levels and the degree of collaboration and information sources for YP. Moreover, the policy assistance from the People's Republic of China, the United States of America, Germany, and Australia considerably advances the knowledge of UAVs connected to YP of WMRS crops, revealed under investigation of grants and collaborating nations. Lastly, the findings of WMRS crops for YP are presented regarding the data type, algorithms, results, and study location. The remote sensing community can significantly benefit from this study by being able to discriminate between the most critical sub-domains of the YP literature for WMRS crops utilizing UAVs and to recommend new research frontiers for concentrating on the essential directions for subsequent studies.

OBJECTIVE: Inadequate tuberculosis (TB) knowledge and awareness of proper TB control practices among health care workers (HCWs) may increase the risk of nosocomial TB transmission. This study aimed to assess HCWs' TB-related knowledge and control practices to guide the development of more effective targeted TB health education and training programs. METHODS: In January 2023 a cross-sectional survey was administered to 323 HCWs employed by five primary health care centers and three secondary comprehensive medical institutions in Beijing, China. Survey data were collected using a standard questionnaire. RESULTS: Analysis of survey responses revealed TB knowledge and practices awareness rates of 60.4% and 90.6%, respectively. The overall average awareness rate across all 19 TB knowledge- and practice-related questions was 70.0%. Intermediate- and senior-level HCW's average TB knowledge score was respectively 2.225 and 8.175 times higher than that of primary-level HCWs, while the average TB knowledge score of HCWs in secondary comprehensive medical institutions was 3.052 times higher than that of HCWs in primary health care centers. Higher average TB knowledge score correlated with higher-level professional titles and higher level work units, but higher average TB control practices score correlated with employment at primary health care center rather than secondary comprehensive medical institution. Notably, 13.6% of HCWs had not received TB training during the past three years, while 86.1% expressed willingness to undergo online TB training. CONCLUSION: These findings highlight inadequate TB knowledge and awareness of proper TB control practices among HCWs in primary health care centers and secondary comprehensive medical institutions in Beijing, underscoring the urgent need for targeted educational and training initiatives to improve TB awareness and control efforts.

Polygala tenuifolia is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine. Polygala tenuifolia polysaccharide (PTP), as one of its main active ingredients, has excellent neuroprotective activity. PTP improved the disruption of the endogenous metabolites and gut microbiota caused by Alzheimer's disease (AD). Specifically, untargeted metabolomics results showed that 19 metabolites such as leukotriene B4, vanylglycol, and cer(d18:1/18:0) are significantly reduced, and 2 metabolites are elevated. It was significantly enriched in Sphingolipid metabolism, Glycerophospholipid metabolism, Tyrosine metabolism, and Arachidonic acid metabolism. Meanwhile, 16S rDNA analysis showed that PTP treatment significantly increased the relative abundance of bacteria such as Alistipes, Lachnospiraceae_NK4A136_group, and Lachnospiraceae_UCG-006. In addition, Spearman analysis showed that significant changes in gut microbiota were closely related to differential endogenous metabolites.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To investigate the progression patterns and risk factors of axial elongation in young adults with nonpathologic high myopia. DESIGN: Prospective, clinical observational cohort study with 2- to 4-year follow-up. METHODS: A total of 1043 eyes of 563 participants (3515 medical records) aged 18 to 50 years with nonpathologic high myopia (axial length [AL] ≥ 26 mm; myopic maculopathy < diffuse chorioretinal atrophy; without posterior staphyloma) were included from 1546 participants (6318 medical records). Annual axial elongation was calculated via linear mixed-effect models. The associated risk factors of axial elongation were determined by ordinal logistic regression analysis, with generalized estimate equations for eliminating an interocular correlation bias. RESULTS: Based on 5359 times of AL measurements, the annual axial elongation of participants (mean [SD] age 31.39 [9.22] years) was 0.03 mm/year (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.03-0.04; P < .001) during a 30.23 (6.06) months' follow-up. Severe (>0.1 mm/year), moderate (0.05-0.09 mm/year), mild (0-0.049 mm/year), and nil (≤0 mm/year) elongation was observed in 122 (11.7%), 211 (20.2%), 417 (40.0%), and 293 (28.1%) eyes. The following risk factors were significantly associated with axial elongation: baseline AL ≥ 28 mm (odds ratio [OR], 4.23; 95% CI, 2.95-6.06; P < .001); age < 40 years (OR, 1.64; 95% CI, 1.18-2.28; P = .003); axial asymmetry (OR, 2.04; 95% CI, 1.26-3.29; P = .003), and women (OR, 1.52; 95% CI, 1.13-2.2.05; P = .006). Using antiglaucoma medications was a protective factor (OR, 0.46; 95% CI, 0.27-0.79; P = .005), which slowed 75% of axial elongation from 0.04 (0.06) to 0.01 (0.06) mm/y (P < .001). CONCLUSIONS: Axial elongation continued in young adults with nonpathologic myopia. Risk factors included longer baseline AL and axial asymmetry, younger age, and woman. Topical use of antiglaucoma medications may be useful to reduce ongoing axial elongation.

PURPOSE: To investigate the therapeutic effect and underlying mechanism of tetrahydrocurcumin (THC) on nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) induced by high-fat diet (HFD). METHODS: NASH rat model was established through long-term feeding HFD, and the steatosis cell model was stimulated via palmitate acid (PA). The therapeutic effect of THC was evaluated in terms of liver function, lipid metabolism, liver pathophysiology, inflammation and oxidative stress in vivo, and lipid accumulation in vitro. The alteration in lipophagy was identified by using western blot and immunofluorescence. mTORC1-TFEB signaling pathway was measured by qRT-PCR, western blot and protein-ligand docking. In addition, chloroquine and MHY1485 were further introduced to validate the effect of THC on lipophagy and mTORC1-TFEB signaling pathway, respectively. RESULTS: THC effectively improved hepatic steatosis, inflammation and oxidative stress in NASH rats, and reduced lipid accumulation in steatosis L02 cells and Hep G2 cells. THC promoted lipophagy with increasing LC3B-II as well as decreasing P62 expression via lysosomal biogenesis upregulation, which was greatly weakened after chloroquine intervention. mTORC1-TFEB is a critical pathway for regulating lysosome in autophagy, THC treatment induced TFEB nucleus translocation via inhibiting mTORC1 to upregulate lysosomal biogenesis. However, these effects were partly eliminated by mTORC1 activator MHY1485. CONCLUSION: THC restored lipophagy to reduce lipid accumulation by regulating mTORC1-TFEB pathway in NASH rats and steatosis hepatocytes. These findings suggested that THC represents a therapeutic candidate for NASH treatment.

A 28 days pesticide degradation experiment was conducted for broccoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. italica Planch) and pakchoi (Brassica chinensis L.) with three pesticides (chlorantraniliprole (CAP), haloxyfop-etotyl (HPM), and indoxacarb (IXB)) to explore the effects of biochar on pesticide environmental fate and rhizosphere soil diversity. Rice straw biochar (RB) was applied to soil at a 25.00 t ha-1 dosage under greenhouse conditions, and its effects on the degradation of three pesticides in vegetables and in soil were investigated individually. Overall, RB application effectively facilitated CAP and HPM degradation in broccoli by 13.51-39.42% and in broccoli soil by 23.80-74.10%, respectively. RB application slowed the degradation of CAP, HPM and IXB in pakchoi by 0.00-57.17% and slowed the degradation of CAP in pakchoi by 37.32-43.40%. The results showed that the effect of RB application on pesticide degradation in crops and soil was related to biochar properties, pesticide solubility, plant growth status, and soil characteristics. Rhizosphere soil microorganisms were also investigated, and the results showed that biochar application may be valuable for altering bacterial richness and diversity. The effect of biochar application on pesticide residues in crops and soil was influenced by the vegetable variety first, and the second was pesticide characteristics. RB applied to soil at a 25.00 t ha-1 dosage under greenhouse conditions is recommended for broccoli production to ensure food safety. Our results suggested that biochar application in soil could reduce pesticide non-point source pollution, especially for highly soluble pesticides, and could affect soil microorganisms.
