RESUMEN

Individual proteins (transferrin, ceruloplasmin, alpha 2-macroglobulin, IgG, IgA and IgM) were examined in blood and synovial fluid of 11 patients with Reiter's syndrome. ARA-1981 was used as a diagnostic criteria. The control group included 40 patients with rheumatoid arthritis and 31 with osteoarthrosis of the knee joint. Statistically significant differences between the concentrations of individual proteins in patients with Reiter's syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis were only established in synovial fluid for IgM and for IgM index Csf/CS.

RESUMEN

The authors investigated cellular and humoral immunity as well as the amount of circulating immune complexes (CIC) in 84 women, 52 of whom were healthy nonpregnant and 32 with normal pregnancy during the first trimester. Considerable changes were established in the immune status-depression of cellular immunity in pregnant women, an increase of the amount of CIC in the same women, humoral immunity did not show synonymous changes a reduction of IgG content in pregnant women and an increase of IgA in the same group. The level of IgM was not altered. The possible causes for the discovered changes are discussed.

RESUMEN

A quantitative study on the immunoglobulins G, M, and A in serum and saliva was performed as well as of secretory immunoglobulin A and of the secretory component in the saliva of 35 patients with prosthetic stomatitis and 30 healthy controls without prostheses. The method of radial immune-diffusion in agar according to Mancini, modification of G. Stankova et al. (1983) was used. The study established that there was no statistically significant difference (p greater than 0.05) in the values of immunoglobulins G, M and A in the sera of the subjects from both groups. Statistically significant increase (p less than 0.001) of the values of the immunoglobulin A, secretory immunoglobulin A and secretory component was established in the saliva of the patients with prosthetic stomatitis as compared with the same values in the control group, very likely due to the local reaction of saliva to the present prosthetic constructions.
